Two Navy jets collided midair during an air show in Idaho on Sunday, forcing all four crew members to eject safely and the base to go on lockdown.

The crash happened at 12:10 p.m. local time in the middle of an aerial demonstration, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/midair-jet-collision-forces-lockdown-idaho-air-force-base-show-rcna345586">according to NBC News.</a> All four crew members ejected by parachute moments before the two jets crashed to the ground and exploded. A photo circulating on social media shows the aftermath of the crash.

The four crew members ejected safely and were &#8220;found safe,&#8221; <a href="https://www.idahostatesman.com/news/northwest/idaho/article315790106.html">according to a local Idaho news outlet. </a>
In a social media post, Mountain Home Air Force Base acknowledged “an aircraft incident” and canceled the remainder of the air show pending an investigation. 
&#8220;Mountain Home Air Force base has canceled the remainder of the air show. At this time, we ask for our guests already on base to remain in the flightline area to allow first responders to move in and out of place to continue securing the area. We are working on a plan to safely allow guests to exit base as soon as possible,&#8221; the statement said. 
Organizers said the popular air show that includes flying demonstrations and parachute jumps is a celebration of aviation history and a look at modern military capabilities.
On Saturday, the base posted photos on Facebook of the air show&#8217;s successful Day 1.

A Republican state senator in Idaho said her family’s livelihood is on the line after a united effort from major dairies in the state to cut off business with her husband over her stance on illegal immigration. 
Senator Glenneda Zuiderveld said multiple dairies are refusing to work with her husband Tom because of her politics, adding that they have lost 85% of their income in the past month. While the state&#8217;s dairy industry says Zuiderveld is &#8220;anti-ag,&#8221; she believes that she is being targeted because of her support for tough-on-illegal immigration policies like those that mandate employers verify the legal status of workers.
“I&#8217;m about trying to protect our state from illegal immigration, but they&#8217;re always trying to protect their workforce,” she told The Daily Wire. “They&#8217;re basically working with other dairies that will probably be withdrawing from us. So they&#8217;re colluding together. So that&#8217;s not free market. That’s intimidation.” 
The incident shows how even in red states, Republicans can split over agricultural and immigration enforcement interests. In this case, it appears to be large dairies against Zuiderveld, a member of Idaho&#8217;s firebrand Gang of Eight caucus which is associated with the State Freedom Caucus Network.
A letter from Zuiderveld’s employer obtained by The Daily Wire shows that multiple dairies, including Millenkamp Cattle, Black Pine Cattle, and Cedar Ridge Dairy requested last month “to no longer work with” her husband. 
“We have been informed that these customers have aligned with others in a coordinated effort to no longer direct business through you,” the letter said. “The concerns raised are tied to your wife’s political role and are not related to the level of service you have provided. While not making judgements on these factors, they are impacting these customers’ willingness to continue doing business with us.”
The letter added that one dairy even demanded that Tom be fired from the company, which the Zuidervelds have chosen to keep anonymous. 
“One customer indicated they would consider moving their business away from [redacted] if we did not terminate you. While termination is not something we are considering, it does underscore the seriousness of the situation,” the letter said.

The Daily Wire reached out to Millenkamp Cattle and Black Pine Cattle for comment, which falls under the same ownership. An employee for Cedar Ridge Dairy who answered a phone call said he was not authorized to talk to the press and hung up. 
“Our business has always been in the dairy industry,” Zuiderveld told The Daily Wire. “They&#8217;ve always known what our politics are, but just recently they wrote a letter saying that they didn&#8217;t like my politics, and that they wanted our company basically to fire my husband, which they didn&#8217;t do because we&#8217;re independent sales reps.”
Zuiderveld said that her Senate district, which encompasses the Magic Valley heavy agricultural area of south central Idaho, has more dairies than any other district. A fourth dairy, Riverbend Dairy, stopped doing business with them on Monday, Zuiderveld said. The Daily Wire reached out to a phone number listed for the dairy, but did not hear back. 
While the dairies did not respond to requests for comment, Rick Naerebout, the CEO of the Idaho Dairymen’s Association, chalked up the issue to “free-market capitalism” in an <a href="https://www.idahostatesman.com/news/politics-government/state-politics/article315355006.html">interview</a> with The Idaho Statesman. 
He accused the Zuidervelds of being “anti-ag” and claimed that “not all Idaho Republicans are created equal.” He pointed to Zuiderveld’s opposition to $30 million in taxpayer dollars for water infrastructure and vote over funding to target an invasive mussel. 
Zuiderveld said that those issues were just a distraction from the issues of illegal immigration. She said that she opposed the water funding because there was not significant accountability for the dollars and said she was skeptical of the environmental claims about the mussel. 
“They&#8217;re trying to distract,” she told The Daily Wire. “The main reason is the illegal immigration issue — 90% of their workforce is what they call foreign-born, and I would have to say, probably 70% if not more of it is illegal.”

Idaho authorities say an attempted arsonist targeted a building housing offices for the Department of Homeland Security on Wednesday night.
Meridian Police Chief Tracy Basterrechea described the attack during a Thursday press conference. He <a href="https://x.com/Dapper_Det/status/2024623982096318793">said</a> someone stole an ambulance and covered it in an accelerant. The attempted arsonist then rammed it into a building that houses leased offices for Homeland Security, but was scared off before being able to ignite the fuel.
“We want to emphasize that this was a serious criminal act. The theft and destruction of an emergency vehicle not only created risk to responding personnel, but it also temporarily removed a critical medical resource from the community,” Basterrechea emphasized.
The police chief said that the suspect is still at large. During the press conference, he suggested that controversy and radical rhetoric regarding the Department of Homeland Security may have played into the attack.
“There has been a lot of rhetoric surrounding the Department of Homeland Security leasing office space at this location, and comments on social media such as, ‘property damage isn&#8217;t violence,’ is absolutely false,” said Basterrechea.
“This was absolutely an act of violence, and if the suspect had not been interrupted, there is no doubt this building would have been burned, putting the lives of first responders and others at risk,” he continued.
The attempted arsonist stole the ambulance from St. Luke’s hospital and crashed it into a building owned by St. Luke’s Health System in Meridian. St. Luke’s Health System had rented space in the damaged building to the Department of Homeland Security, and the lease has been at the center of some heated public debate, according to the <a href="https://wtop.com/national/2026/02/police-in-idaho-search-for-suspect-who-stole-ambulance-drove-into-building-that-houses-dhs-offices/">Associated Press</a>.
The attack comes at a time when federal immigration enforcement is facing a steep rise in threats and attacks as agents attempt to carry out President Donald Trump’s immigration agenda and enforce federal law. Earlier this month, a DHS spokeswoman presented several data points showing the rapid jump in violence.

Common sense is on the line at the Supreme Court, a group of female athletes and Republican officials warned Monday.
The Republican Attorneys General Conference and prominent female athletes like Riley Gaines held a press conference on Monday ahead of oral arguments in two cases that revolve around the rights of states to pass laws that keep men off of women’s sports teams. They said that the case will have far-reaching consequences for women’s privacy and safety.
“The reason that we are here is because Idaho and West Virginia passed common sense laws that delineate the athletic playing fields in our states between the sexes,” said West Virginia Attorney General John McCuskey. “West Virginia&#8217;s law makes sure that every single woman and girl in West Virginia has a safe and fair playing field in order for them to earn and learn all of the amazing skills that come from competitive team athletics.”
The justices will hear two different sets of oral arguments on Tuesday, in the cases of West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox. The result of the cases will determine whether 27 states can keep laws in place that prevent men from entering women’s sports, and could impact laws protecting women’s privacy in bathrooms and other spaces.
“Women&#8217;s rights are under attack by the radical Left. As Republican Attorneys General, we are committed to doing everything we can to protect them. Women and girls should feel safe in the locker rooms and have the opportunity to participate in fair competitions,” said Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen.
Gaines, the University of Kentucky swimmer who rose to national prominence for speaking out after being forced to compete against male University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas, said she was “pissed” off that the country had reached the point where it was even a debate whether women can have their own sports teams.
“I&#8217;m pissed off that we&#8217;ve reached a point where we seemingly have an entire political party who has diminished and erased our rights as women. That&#8217;s exactly what this is. Don&#8217;t let them frame it any other way,” Gaines said.
As Gaines noted, the case will not determine whether states must keep sports teams separate by sex, but whether states are allowed to do so.
“We are fighting for the bare minimum here,” she said. “Can we allow ourselves to be vulnerable in an intimate area of undressing such as a locker room without having to fear a man walking into that space? Can we do those things?”
Oral arguments in the case will start at 10 a.m. and are expected to last several hours.

An illegal immigrant who failed to leave the country after receiving a deportation order is accused of fatally striking an eight-year-old girl while she was crossing the street in Boise, Idaho, last Tuesday, The Daily Wire has learned.
Honduran illegal immigrant Elvin Ramos-Caballero allegedly struck and killed Mora Gerety while he was behind the wheel of a pickup truck, authorities said.
The eight-year-old was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where she died in the operating room, <a href="https://www.ktvb.com/article/news/local/child-struck-by-vehicle-in-boise-north-end-identified-coroner-report/277-21344a93-842d-462c-a238-0417002bab20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to KTVB7. The local coroner ruled that she died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries.
“This is a parent’s worst nightmare, and tonight our hearts go out to the victim’s family, friends, and her community at large,” Boise Police Chief Chris Dennison <a href="https://www.cityofboise.org/news/police/2025/november/update-boise-police-investigating-fatal-crash-at-ada-and-harrison/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> following the tragic collision.
Ramos-Caballero crossed the border illegally into Hidalgo, Texas, in September 2015 as an unaccompanied minor and was transferred to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which released him into the country the next month.
Border Patrol agents must hand illegal migrant children who traverse the border without parents to HHS, which typically finds a sponsor for them in the United States. Those children must still go to immigration court for judges to decide their cases.
However, in Ramos-Caballero&#8217;s case, he failed to appear at his 2016 immigration hearing, where the judge ordered his deportation.
ICE was able to nab him last Tuesday after the attack, the agency said.
The Boise School District said Wednesday that the young victim attended Washington Elementary School, which is located near the scene of the crash.
&#8220;Our hearts are with the student’s family, friends, classmates, and the entire Washington community during this incredibly difficult time,&#8221; the school district wrote. &#8220;In moments like this, we are reminded of the vulnerability of the young people we serve and of the shared responsibility we all hold in keeping students safe—whether they are walking, biking, riding the bus, or traveling in any way on our city’s streets.&#8221;

Topline: Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is demanding major reforms to the nation’s organ transplant system after a shocking investigation found that dozens of patients showed signs of life while being prepped for organ harvesting. 
An investigation by HHS’s Health Resources and Services Administration found &#8220;horrifying&#8221; results and a &#8220;systemic disregard for the sanctity of life.&#8221; The review of 351 organ donation cases in Kentucky found that 103 showed “concerning features,” including 73 patients who displayed neurological signs “incompatible with organ donation.” At least 28 of those patients may not have been dead when the organ procurement process began; some later recovered enough to leave the hospital. 
The investigation placed significant blame on the ethics of Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs), which are non-profits that coordinate transplants. The inquiry was sparked by a 2021 case in Kentucky where an OPO coordinator allegedly pressured hospital staff to move forward with a donation from a man who had overdosed. A doctor ultimately stopped the procedure when the patient “cried, pulled his knees to his chest and shook his head.” That patient is still alive today. 
In response, HHS is demanding OPOs adopt new procedures, including formal &#8220;hard stops&#8221; that allow any staff member to halt a donation due to safety concerns. Kennedy has threatened to decertify any OPOs that fail to comply with corrective actions. The revelations have caused some of the estimated 170 million registered organ donors in the United States to express discomfort online, with some saying they will not feel safe being donors until the system is fixed.

Dylan Mortensen, a roommate who survived the attack, called Kohberger a &#8220;hollow vessel, something less than human.” 
In a striking moment of grace, Kim Kernodle, Xana Kernodle’s aunt, told Kohberger she had forgiven him. &#8220;I no longer could live with that hate in my heart,&#8221; she said. Kohberger declined the opportunity to speak at the hearing.

Topline: Protests have erupted in a British town after an asylum seeker allegedly sexually assaulted a local girl, highlighting growing national frustration over the U.K.&#8217;s immigration policies. 
More than a thousand protesters have taken to the streets in Epping, a town near London, after a 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by an asylum seeker living in a nearby hotel. Guy Dampier of the Prosperity Institute told Morning Wire that the U.K. government’s failure to stop small boat crossings has resulted in more than 100,000 asylum seekers being housed in hotels across the country over the past seven years, creating widespread anger. 
Dampier noted that the mood in the country is &#8220;changing enormously,&#8221; with protests now spreading from traditionally poor northern towns to &#8220;very leafy,&#8221; middle-class areas like Epping. He stated that mass immigration is &#8220;changing the face of the country at a speed that people are very uncomfortable with.&#8221; As an example, he cited a report indicating that there are more than 2,000 schools in Britain where the majority of pupils do not speak English as their first language.

Dampier argued that instead of being a &#8220;financial boon,&#8221; immigration has become a &#8220;massive welfare magnet.&#8221; He pointed to recent reports showing that 1.3 million foreigners now claim Universal Credit, the U.K.&#8217;s main welfare benefit, costing taxpayers close to a billion pounds a month. That monthly cost, annualized, would account for more than half of the £22 billion &#8220;black hole&#8221; in public finances that the government cited as a major crisis last year.

The man convicted of murdering four University of Idaho students was sentenced to four consecutive fixed life sentences without opportunity for parole.
Bryan Kohberger was also sentenced to 10 years in prison for the count of burglary, as well as a $50,000 fine and $5,000 civil penalty per count.
Kohberger pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary. As part of the guilty plea, he waived his right to appeal but escaped the death penalty.
&#8220;No parent should have to bury their child,&#8221; Judge Steven Hippler said before the sentencing. &#8220;This is the greatest tragedy that can be inflicted on a person.&#8221;
Hippler said he was unable to find anything redeeming in Kohberger.
&#8220;His actions have made him the worst of the worst,&#8221; Hippler said. &#8220;In my view, the time has now come to end Mr. Kohberger&#8217;s 15 minutes of fame.&#8221;
Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador commended the sentence.
“Our hearts are with the victims and their families. While no sentence can bring full justice to this kind of evil, today’s sentence ensures that Bryan Kohberger will never see the outside of a prison and will never again harm innocent families,” Labrador said in a statement. “Under Idaho law, the fixed prison sentences mean Kohberger will never be eligible for parole. I’m especially grateful to Prosecutor Bill Thompson and my Criminal Division Chief, Jeff Nye, whose leadership, judgment, and tireless efforts brought this case to a just conclusion. Their teams served the State of Idaho with distinction, and our families and the public are safer because of their hard work.”
Before the sentencing, family members of the victims made statements before the court.
Kristi Goncalves, mother of Kaylee Goncalves, said Kohberger &#8220;will finally get what [he] wanted&#8221; in prison.
“A dead killer doesn&#8217;t kill again, so while I&#8217;m disappointed the firing squad won&#8217;t get to take their shots at you, I&#8217;m confident that the men in prison will have their way with you in more ways than one,&#8221; Kristi Goncalves said. &#8220;You will finally get what you wanted, physical touch, just probably not how you were expecting it.”
&#8220;Hell will be waiting,&#8221; Kristi Goncalves concluded.
Steve Goncalves, father of Kaylee Goncalves, told Kohberger, &#8220;From this moment, we will forget you.&#8221;
&#8220;Today we are here to finish what you started. Today you’ve lost control,&#8221; Steve Goncalves added. &#8220;Your actions have united everyone in their disgust for you.&#8221;
Randy Davis, the stepfather of Xana Kernodle, told the victims&#8217; families, &#8220;I love you all and I feel your pain.&#8221;
He then told Kohberger to &#8220;go to hell,&#8221; and everyone applauded.
Kim Kernodle, the aunt of Xana Kernodle, told Kohberger she forgave him.
&#8220;This is probably gonna bother everybody, but Bryan, I’m here today to tell you I’ve forgiven you, because I could no longer live with that hate in my heart,&#8221; Kim Kernodle said. &#8220;And for me to become a better person, I have forgiven you.&#8221;
One of the surviving roommates, Dylan Mortensen, made her <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/dylan-mortensen-roommate-idaho-murder-victims-bryan-kohbergers-sentencing/">first</a> public statement since the murders.
&#8220;Living is how I honor them,&#8221; Mortensen said. &#8220;Speaking today is to help me find some sort of justice for them and I will never let him take that from me. He may have taken so much from me, but he will never get to take my voice.&#8221;
&#8220;I get to feel sadness, I get to feel rage, I get to feel joy even when it&#8217;s hard, I get to feel love even when it hurts, I get to live, and while I will still live with this pain, at least I get to live my life. He will stay here, empty, forgotten and powerless,&#8221; she concluded.
After the impact statements, Prosecutor Bill Thompson showed photos of the four victims while family members cried in the background.
&#8220;We can&#8217;t undo and we can never undo the horror that occurred,&#8221; Thompson said. &#8220;From today forward, our memories should be focused on these innocent victims whose lives were taken on their families, on their friends, on the community.&#8221;
Kohberger declined to make a statement.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1948079113358495996">addressed</a> the sentencing during a press conference Wednesday.
&#8220;Our nation grieves with you, and we will never forget the precious souls who were lost in this horrific act of evil,&#8221; Leavitt said. &#8220;May God bless and watch over everyone affected by this unimaginable tragedy, especially the parents who lost their children.&#8221;

Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador called for an end to a “discriminatory” federal program that costs states millions of dollars by pushing them to go with more expensive “diverse” contractors.
In a Wednesday <a href="https://www.ag.idaho.gov/content/uploads/2025/07/Mid-America-Milling-Amicus-Brief-DBE-Program_As-Filed.pdf">court filing</a> joined by 20 states, Labrador urged a federal judge to accept a proposal from the Trump administration to end an affirmative action program that favors minority- and women-owned businesses for state infrastructure projects. The initiative, known as the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program, set aside $37 billion under the Biden administration for “disadvantaged” groups. 
The program, which has been in effect since 1983, was originally challenged in September 2023 by the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty on behalf of two Indiana-based companies that claim they lost business opportunities based on the policy. The Biden administration fought back against the challenge, but the Trump administration has asked a judge to side with the complaint and disband the program. 
In an amicus brief, Labrador and the other plaintiffs urged Federal Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove, a George W. Bush nominee, to accept a consent decree proposed by the Trump administration that would end race and sex as components to qualify as a “disadvantaged business.” 
“This discrimination is expensive. It routinely requires States to reject the lowest bid on a project in favor of a less-efficient DBE-compliant bidder, and even when States can choose the lowest bid, the price is usually inflated because contractors have to use DBE-compliant subcontractors,” the filing says. &#8220;The DBE program wastes money on purpose. When supposedly disadvantaged entities are the lowest bidders, the program has no effect-its whole point is to force States to hire disadvantaged entities when they are not the lowest bidders.”
Labrador told The Daily Wire that the rule has cost his state at least $15.2 million over a 44-month period. In one instance, he said that Idaho had to take a $2.7 million bid instead of a $2.2 million bid. 
“This federal program has operated like a racial quota system for decades,” he said. “Federal bureaucrats forced states like Idaho to reject better bids from qualified contractors, wasting roughly $15 million in just a few years by requiring states to award a certain percentage of contracts based on race and gender instead of merit.”
A 2009 MIT <a href="https://www.jstor.org/stable/25651355?seq=1">study</a> found that affirmative action in contracting can increase the cost when comparing state contracts without preferences to federal contracts with preferences. The study found that bids without preferences were at least 5.6% lower than the preferential contract. 
Other states that signed onto the legal filing include North Dakota, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, and the Arizona state legislature. 
“While the Biden Administration defended this system in court, President Trump is working to restore equality under the law,” Labrador said. “My office will continue fighting any federal program that forces states to treat citizens as members of groups rather than individuals with equal constitutional rights.”

The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to hear two cases revolving around state laws keeping transgender-identifying males out of women’s sports. 
The court is set to consider cases out of Idaho and West Virginia, where laws banning males who identify as women from participating in women&#8217;s and girls&#8217; sports were blocked by lower courts. The news comes just weeks after the high court ruled 6-3 in favor of a Tennessee law that banned transgender medical procedures on minors. 
At issue in the cases are West Virginia’s “Save Women’s Sports Act” and Idaho’s “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act.&#8221;
 In West Virginia, a parent sued to block the 2021 law, arguing that her transgender-identifying son was being discriminated against because he was not allowed on the girls&#8217; cross country team. In Idaho, a transgender-identifying male sued because he wouldn&#8217;t be allowed to join Boise State University&#8217;s women&#8217;s track team under the state&#8217;s law.

West Virginia’s law was blocked by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit in April 2024, and Idaho’s law was blocked by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit in August 2023. The attorneys general of both states celebrated the court’s decision to take up the case. 
“It’s a great day, as female athletes in West Virginia will have their voices heard. The people of West Virginia know that it’s unfair to let male athletes compete against women; that’s why we passed this commonsense law preserving women&#8217;s sports for women,” said West Virginia Attorney General John McCuskey. “We are confident the Supreme Court will uphold the Save Women&#8217;s Sports Act because it complies with the U.S. Constitution and complies with Title IX. And most importantly: it protects women and girls by ensuring the playing field is safe and fair.&#8221;
Idaho was the first state to pass a law intended to exclude males from competing in women&#8217;s sports in 2020.
“Idaho’s women and girls deserve an equal playing field,” added Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador. “I am thrilled the U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear our case. For too long, activists have worked to sideline women and girls in their own sports. Men and women are biologically different, and we hope the court will allow states to end this injustice and ensure men no longer create a dangerous, unfair environment for women to showcase their incredible talent and pursue the equal opportunities they deserve.”
More than two dozen states have enacted laws similar to those in Idaho and West Virginia, and courts have blocked full implementation in other states, including New Hampshire, Utah, and Montana.

Topline: After a marathon vote in Congress, the Senate narrowly passed Donald Trump’s Big, Beautiful Bill, pushing his sweeping policy agenda toward the finish line.
Senators and their staff spent the last 48 hours debating the bill non-stop — in what Washington calls a Vote-a-Rama, where members submit last minute amendments before a final vote. Votes were held on 45 proposed amendments covering everything from Medicare cuts and electric car subsidies to health care for illegal immigrants and Planned Parenthood funding. That process went all night Monday and well into Tuesday afternoon.

Democrats made clear that they viewed the Vote-a-Rama as a means of forcing Republicans to go on the record with their views, but more importantly, to stall. That tactic angered Republicans and even some Democrats who opposed the bill, including Pennsylvania’s John Fetterman.
“Oh my God, I just want to go home,” Fetterman <a href="https://x.com/niceblackdude/status/1939829913873522764">said</a> during the Vote-a-Rama. “Keeping us here until some ungodly hour isn’t helping anyone.”
Given their slim majority, the GOP could only afford to lose three Republican votes. Senators Rand Paul (R-KY), Thom Tillis (R-NC), and Susan Collins (R-ME) were definite no votes, so it came down to Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski. Ultimately, GOP leadership won her over by offering major concessions, exempting Alaska from a number of funding cuts in the bill. The final tally was 50-50, allowing Vice President JD Vance to step in and cast the deciding vote.
The bill will now head to the House, where it’s expected to pass, though not without some difficulty – some hardline Republicans have expressed concerns about some of the Senate’s changes. Given the delay from Senate Democrats, the bill might not be voted on before President Trump’s desired deadline of July 4th. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has said he would honor the customary 72 hour period to allow members three days to review the legislation – so it’ll be tight.

Topline: President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis held a press conference down at the state’s new “Alligator Alcatraz” on Tuesday.
Trump and DeSantis have reconciled since Trump beat the Florida governor in the GOP presidential primary last year, and Trump’s win in November pushed the two even closer, especially on immigration, but also on other issues as well.
“Ron, I would like to thank you, personally,” Trump said during a joint press conference. “You&#8217;re my friend. You will always be my friend. We may have some skirmishes even in the future &#8212; I doubt it &#8212; but I will always come back. We have blood that seems to match pretty well. We have a relationship that&#8217;s been a very strong one.”
DeSantis is term-limited as Florida’s governor, and he signaled that his wife Casey may jump into the 2026 race to replace him. An endorsement from Trump would be a huge boon in a Republican primary that has the potential to be extraordinarily competitive.
The press conference took place during a visit to Alligator Alcatraz – an immigration facility being built in the everglades. It could hold thousands of illegal aliens slated for deportation. In addition to the new detention facility, Trump also plans to deputize Florida National Guardsmen as immigration judges, which could massively cut down the time it takes to schedule immigration hearings – from a matter of years to just a few days.
Detention capacity has been a big constraint to Trump’s immigration agenda. That’s why we’ve seen the Trump administration partner with El Salvador, for instance, to hold illegal aliens, or ship them to Guantanamo Bay. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is now arresting hundreds of illegal aliens a day, and Trump is doing whatever he can to make sure none of them are released back into the public after they’ve been caught.

Byran Kohberger will accept the prosecution’s plea deal and plead guilty to all charges. Those include four counts of murder, as well as burglary. In exchange, the state has agreed to take the death penalty off the table – he will serve four consecutive life sentences with no possibility of parole, and he has waived the right to appeal. Kaylee Goncalves&#8217; sister Aubrie called the decision to take the death penalty off the table “shocking and cruel.” The family posted a statement to social media saying, “We are beyond furious at the state of Idaho. They have failed us.”
The defense has maintained that Kohberger is innocent, although initially the evidence against him seemed overwhelming. His car was caught on surveillance, his cell phone data was consistent with him being near the scene &#8212; not just on the night of the murder, but the next morning, and on about a dozen occasions leading up to the crime, always late at night. Most damning, his DNA was found on the knife sheath left at the scene, and his purchase history showed a black ski mask similar to the one described by the witness. He was also a criminology student with apparent interest in serial killers.
Defense attorney Anne Taylor did raise arguments for reasonable doubt. First, she filed a motion to have the DNA evidence thrown out because it was obtained, according to her, through an illegal genealogy search – that would have been devastating to the prosecution&#8217;s case. She also raised the issue of mystery DNA found in the bloody handprint. Investigators determined that there was DNA from two mystery males found in that print on the bannister, and DNA from a third mystery male was found on a glove outside the residence. There was also DNA from multiple individuals found under the fingernails of one of the victims, although it was inconclusive. The defense was planning to float an alternative suspect theory, and all they had to do was make one juror have doubts. These issues also could have theoretically provided fertile ground for appeals down the road.
However, in the past week, the judge dismissed the defense’s attempt to introduce alternative suspects. And not long before that, it was revealed that a DoorDash driver may have been at the scene delivering food at 4 a.m. when the crime occurred. In leaked police interview footage, that driver can be heard saying, “I saw Bryan there,” and she claimed she parked next to him.

The man suspected of killing two Idaho firefighters during an ambush on Sunday was found dead with a gunshot wound.
The man is believed to have deliberately set a grass fire at Canfield Mountain in northern Idaho and then started shooting at firefighters when they responded. Two firefighters were killed, and a third is fighting for his life after sustaining serious injuries. 
Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris did not release any identifying information on the suspect, but said that he was found with a weapon and that law enforcement had tracked him using his cell phone. 
&#8220;We had a cell phone activation that was in the same spot since about 3:16 [p.m.], and that it was in the same area,&#8221; Norris said at a press conference. &#8220;And we honed in on that cellphone, and we saw that there was a male, appeared to be deceased, with a weapon nearby.&#8221;
He said that the cell phone signal was tracked with help from federal resources, including helicopters. 
&#8220;There are some helicopters that had some really good technology that were able to pinpoint where that cellphone activity was,&#8221; Norris said. &#8220;So yeah, there were our federal partners assisting us in this situation.&#8221;

Norris said that they had not yet identified a motive, but the attack was an intentional ambush. He added that law enforcement had to act quickly to recover the suspect&#8217;s body as the fire continued to spread and that they expected to find more weapons near the scene after the blaze was fully contained. 
The two firefighters killed were from the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department and the Kootenai County Fire and Rescue. The names have not yet been released to allow time for family notification. 
“This was a total ambush,” Norris said. “These firefighters did not have a chance.”
At one point, there were more than 300 law enforcement officers on the scene Sunday afternoon, including FBI agents. Norris said law enforcement exchanged gunfire with the suspect, but it was not known if he was killed by law enforcement or if he shot himself. 
Based on the current information, investigators believe there was only one shooter and that there was no active threat to the community. Norris thanked the White House, Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador, and Republican Governor Brad Little for assisting in the response.

One or more suspects are still at large after staging an apparent ambush and shooting at the firefighters and first responders as they arrived on the scene.
According to the most recent reports concerning the still unfolding situation in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, at least two of the firefighters have died. The number of shooters has not yet been confirmed, but no suspects are yet in custody.

Governor Brad Little (R-ID) issued a statement on the situation, saying, “Multiple heroic firefighters were attacked today while responding to a fire in North Idaho. The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) also released a statement on Sunday evening. “While responding to a fire earlier today in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, IAFF members were ambushed in a heinous act of violence. Two of our brothers were killed by a sniper, and a third brother remains in surgery,” it read.

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino also issued a statement saying that the FBI was sending assets to assist local law enforcement in handling the situation.
