The Miami Dolphins released an update on wide receiver Grant DuBose’s injury after fans witnessed a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cH6ZTn0hWaA">collision on the field</a> — a collision that resulted in a blow to DuBose&#8217;s head and his having to be carted off the field with his arms and legs strapped down to a stretcher.
On Monday, a statement on X from the <a href="https://x.com/MiamiDolphins/status/1868680328312668209">NFL team</a> about DuBose read, “After sustaining a head injury in yesterday’s game, Grant DuBose remained at a local Houston hospital for evaluation overnight. He has movement in all extremities and initial tests have revealed positive results. He remains under the care of doctors for continued observation.”
The injury occurred on Sunday in Houston during the Dolphins&#8217; game against the Texans. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa dropped back to pass and DuBose went up to catch the ball when Texans defensive back Calen Bullock went to block the play, and the two hit helmet to helmet, after which DuBose fell to the ground and his head hit the turf.

DuBose clenched both his fists and remained on the field motionless until emergency personnel rushed to the field, the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/dolphins-grant-dubose-injury-ee9725cd29930e910e05f02c7247b8fc">Associated Press</a> reported. They worked on him on the field for about 10 minutes before the medical crew cut his jersey and secured a neck brace, putting him on a spine board where his arms and legs could be secured.
The clenching of the fists could be what is often referred to as the “fencing response,” which is common after a severe brain injury, the outlet noted.
Players from his team got into a <a href="https://x.com/RGIII/status/1868389296404918746" target="_blank" rel="noopener">circle and took a knee to pray</a> while medical staff tended to DuBose on the field. At an after-game press conference, Tagovailoa spoke to the media calling it “very unfortunate” and said it was “very tough to have seen live.”
The Miami QB, who has had his share of concussions, said he felt awful after it happened.
“I’m my toughest critic when it comes to ball placement,” Tagovailoa said, “when it comes to knowing where to go with the ball and all of that. I just feel bad that I even put him in that situation to have gotten hit.”
&#8220;We all know that I’ve gone through something similar, and that’s no fun,&#8221; <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/dolphins-give-grant-dubose-health-update-after-wide-receiver-leaves-game-stretcher">he added</a>. &#8220;You never want to be put in any of those situations, but you also understand that this is a physical sport. It’s a contact sport. Again, I just think of what I could have done to not put Grant in that situation.&#8221;

Suspended Houston Texans linebacker <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/suspended-texans-linebacker-wears-cleats-featuring-hamas-propaganda">Azeez Al-Shaair</a> responded aggressively to reports about his wearing cleats with various pieces of Hamas propaganda on them when he did an illegal hit against Jacksonville Jaguars star QB Trevor Lawrence.
“IF YOU WANT ME TO BE YOUR VILLAIN, I’LL BE YOUR VILLAIN! SEE YOU SOON…” the Texans player’s X post on Wednesday <a href="https://x.com/A_train2_/status/1864475210012831837" target="_blank" rel="noopener">read</a>.
The post included four pictures, one of which included him wearing the shoes with the message proclaiming “Free Palestine” with the word “FREE” written on one side of the cleats in the colors of the Palestinian flag. The other cleat contained a quote from the Quran and a message claiming, “at least 41,788 Palestinians killed” &#8212; <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/41788-palestinians-killed-gaza-offensive-since-oct-7-health-ministry-says-2024-10-03/">a statistic</a> taken directly from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry, the Washington <a href="https://freebeacon.com/israel/houston-texans-linebacker-wore-free-palestine-cleats-featuring-hamas-propaganda-during-dirty-hit-on-jaguars-qb-trevor-lawrence/">Free Beacon</a> reported.
Another picture showed a screenshot of the Joker from the 2019 &#8220;Joker&#8221; movie, and in the final photo, a message that read, “There is a beauty being rejected, misunderstood, unseen, and unprotected by people. It teaches you to rely on Allah for everything.”
The cleats are part of the league’s “My Cause My Cleats” campaign, in which players can raise money for various causes. In Al-Shaair’s case, the money raised would go to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, according to the Houston Texans <a href="https://www.houstontexans.com/community/my-cause-my-cleats">website</a>. He began wearing the cleats last year following the horrific Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 that left 1,200 Israelis dead, thousands more wounded, and hundreds kidnapped and held hostage.
The relief fund’s <a href="https://ngo-monitor.org/ngos/palestine_children_s_relief_fund_ohio_/">partnerships</a> with Hamas-linked groups has also brought increased scrutiny, according to NGO Monitor.
The post also followed the decision by the league to uphold the three-game suspension it leveled against Al-Shaair after he was ejected from the game on Sunday following the hit on the quarterback that left Lawrence with a concussion, CBS <a href="https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-upholds-azeez-al-shaair-3-game-suspension-for-hit-on-trevor-lawrence-texans-lb-embracing-villain-role/">reported</a>.
The NFL’s vice president of policy and rules administration, Jon Runyan, previously said the league had deemed the hit “unacceptable” and that the Texans player’s “continued disregard” for rules governing player safety “will not be tolerated,” <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/42754382/texans-azeez-al-shaair-suspended-3-games-trevor-lawrence-hit">ESPN</a> reported.
“You were involved in a play that the [NFL] considers unacceptable and a serious violation of the playing rules,” Runyan wrote. “Video shows you striking the head/neck area of Jaguars’ quarterback Trevor Lawrence after he clearly goes down in a feet-first slide. … You led with your forearm and helmet and delivered a forceful blow to the head/neck area of your opponent when you had time and space to avoid such contact.”
The Texans player later apologized to Lawrence, but <a href="https://x.com/A_train2_/status/1863572522354020768" target="_blank" rel="noopener">also accused</a> critics of racism and Islamophobia.

The NFL suspended Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair for three games on Tuesday for his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/he-wanted-to-decimate-nfl-linebacker-ripped-for-vicious-hit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">illegal hit</a> on Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
During Sunday&#8217;s game between the division rivals, Al-Shaair nailed Lawrence in the helmet while the QB slid to avoid being hit. Lawrence immediately clenched both fists after the hit, a reaction medical professionals say is common when enduring a traumatic brain injury. The Jaguars leader was carted off the field and later diagnosed with a concussion.

The six-year NFL veteran was also reprimanded for taking part in the brawl that occurred after his hit on Lawrence. Runyan said Al-Shaair &#8220;escalated&#8221; the fight &#8220;when [he] pulled an opponent down to the ground by his facemask.&#8221; After Al-Shaair was ejected from the game on Sunday, he &#8220;removed [his] helmet and reengaged with [his] opponent while walking down and across the field, which started another physical confrontation near the end zone.&#8221;
Al-Shaair apologized to Lawrence &#8220;for what ended up happening,&#8221; writing in a statement on Monday that he &#8220;genuinely didn&#8217;t see him sliding until it was too late.&#8221; Al-Shaair also slammed reporters and &#8220;racist and islamophobic (sic) fans and people&#8221; who have &#8220;called [him] every single name in the book.&#8221;
&#8220;[You] don&#8217;t know my heart nor my character which I don&#8217;t need to prove to any of you,&#8221; he added. &#8220;God knows my intentions and anyone who has ever been a teammate or friend of mine knows my heart.&#8221;

The three-game suspension marks the third time this season that the NFL has punished Al-Shaair for his &#8220;disregard&#8221; for the league&#8217;s rules. Last week, the linebacker was fined $11,250 for a late hit on Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard. Earlier this year, Al-Shaair was fined $11,817 after he punched Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson during a scuffle on the sideline.

NBC featured a clip of winning Houston Texans’ quarterback CJ Stroud after his record-setting performance in the team’s 45-14 victory over the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the NFL playoffs — but they left out the beginning of his statement featuring Jesus Christ.
Stroud, who is a rookie, decimated the Browns&#8217; #1 defense in his performance, with a 76.1% completion rate, 276 passing yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. At the age of 22, he became the youngest quarterback to ever win an NFL playoff game.
“CJ, your first playoff game and your first NFL season and a record setting performance for you. What does this moment mean?” NBC Sports sideline reporter Kathryn Tappen asked.
“First and foremost, I just want to give all glory and praise to my Lord, Jesus Christ,” Stroud began, adding, “I mean, it’s been amazing, being in this city as short as I’ve been, but the love that I’ve got; I really just be doing it for Houston, man. People back home, I’m blessed enough to be in the position I am and blessed enough to be playing at a high level right now and we got to just keep it going.”
