The House Judiciary Committee has launched an investigation into a far-left organization to see if it used federal funds to organize anti-ICE unrest in Los Angeles.
The committee announced its investigation into the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), a far-left organization. A Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-says-shell-enforce-border-laws-her-admin-gave-1-2-million-to-group-that-wants-to-end-them">investigation</a> last year revealed that CHIRLA had received federal funding under the Biden-Harris administration as it worked to “dismantle the U.S. immigration enforcement system” and pushed for mass illegal alien amnesty.
The House Judiciary Committee <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/06/24/us-news/house-judiciary-committee-opens-probe-into-chirlas-possible-role-in-la-riots/">explained</a> that it is concerned “that CHIRLA may be using federal funds to support violent criminal activity that impedes the enforcement of federal immigration law.”
The federal funds awarded to the far-left organization under the Biden-Harris administration were earmarked for “citizenship instruction and naturalization services” and “innovations in citizenship education.”
The letter requests that CHIRLA produce “all documents and communications” pertaining to the federal funds it received and specific information detailing how those funds were spent.
The organization is also being asked to turn over communications and documents “referring or relating to protests against ICE, DHS, Customs and Border Protection, enforcement of immigration laws, or the Trump Administration’s immigration policies.” The House Judiciary Committee gave CHIRLA a deadline of July 8th to comply with its requests.
A spokesman for CHIRLA said that the organization has not been involved in coordinating protests in Los Angeles, instead stating that the group “organized a press event” to speak out against the ICE raids and had “been sending legal observers to immigration courts and detention centers.”
“We have not participated, coordinated, or been part of the protests being registered in Los Angeles other than the press conference and rally,” the CHIRLA representative said.
While the House Judiciary Committee works to ascertain the extent of the organization’s involvement in the protests and unrest in Los Angeles, other leftwing groups have directly fueled the protest efforts, The Daily Wire previously revealed.

A lawyer who defended many of the peaceful pro-life protesters targeted by the Biden administration praised the House Judiciary Committee for voting to repeal the decades-old statute used to put them behind bars. 
Steve Crampton, a lawyer with the Thomas More Society, told The Daily Wire that it was “very encouraging” that the Judiciary Committee passed a <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/589/all-actions" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bill</a> on Tuesday from Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) to repeal the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. The FACE Act, first passed in 1994, is a law that makes obstructing access to an abortion facility a federal crime and ostensibly provides the same protections for churches and pregnancy centers.  
In reality, Crampton noted, the law has been used to go after peaceful pro-life demonstrators, while attacks on churches and crisis pregnancy centers are often ignored. Data obtained by Roy show that 97% of all FACE Act prosecutions since 1994 have been against pro-lifers.
“You have ample law under state law and elsewhere to prosecute truly violent undertakings,” Crampton told The Daily Wire. “All the FACE Act adds is the physical obstruction component, which is targeted at peaceful civil disobedience acts that have historically been really cherished and celebrated in our country, rather than singled out for harsh federal prosecutions.”
Throughout multiple federal trials, Crampton defended peaceful pro-life protesters, such as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kidnapped-at-gunpoint-pro-life-activist-testifies-about-harrowing-fbi-raid-of-home" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Paul Vaughn</a> in Tennessee and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pro-life-activist-sentenced-to-over-four-years-in-prison-over-protest-at-d-c-abortion-facility" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lauren Handy</a> in Washington, D.C., who were convicted under both FACE and conspiracy against rights charges during the Biden administration. Both faced over a decade in prison. Handy was sentenced to over four years in prison, while Vaughn was sentenced to home detention. 
In January, President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/they-should-not-have-been-prosecuted-trump-pardons-23-pro-lifers-targeted-by-biden-doj" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pardoned</a> the pro-life protesters, freeing Handy and others from federal prison. Trump’s Justice Department also issued a memo saying FACE would only be prosecuted in cases of extreme violence. 
Crampton said he was disappointed to see California Republican Rep. Tom McClintock voice opposition to repealing FACE during Tuesday’s hearing, as he argued that the law was neutral but abused by the Biden administration. Crampton said the law was inherently content-based, noting that you could only be charged under FACE if your intent was to prevent abortion and not just obstruction in general. He also said that the bias of the law &#8220;screams through the statistics&#8221; of the prosecutions. 
Vaughn, a Christian father of 11 whose Tennessee home was raided by armed FBI agents, told The Daily Wire he was happy to see the repeal advance. 
“The reality is it&#8217;s never done anything other than provide a federal hammer to be used against the pro-life community,” he said. “There&#8217;s not a law that it covers, that is not already a state law, or is not an infraction that it covers, it&#8217;s not covered under a state law.”
Vaughn says he would also like to see reforms brought to the conspiracy against rights provision from the 1871 Ku Klux Klan Act, which Biden’s Justice Department paired with FACE in their cases against the pro-lifer protesters. That meant that Vaughn and others — like 89-year-old communist concentration camp survivor Eva Edl — faced over 10 years in prison. 
Crampton agreed, noting that he would like to see the provision heavily revised to ensure First Amendment protections or even done away with altogether. He thinks that FACE should be dealt with first because state attorneys general still bring FACE prosecutions under the law even if the Trump administration is not active. 
FACE “remains a very, very powerful weapon in the hands of these left-wing attorneys general,” Crampton told The Daily Wire, adding that &#8220;protecting fundamental First Amendment rights ought to be of the highest priority in our national debate&#8221; and that pro-life advocates should &#8220;keep charging forward.&#8221; 
A full vote on the repeal has not yet been scheduled for the House, and the legislation would likely have an uphill battle in the Senate. Republican Senators such as Mike Lee of Utah and Josh Hawley of Missouri have been very outspoken about the weaponization of the FACE Act.

On Thursday, the GOP-led House Judiciary Committee announced that it received bombshell evidence that suggested Pfizer executives pushed to delay full testing for their company&#8217;s COVID vaccine until after the 2020 election.
British drugmaker GSK informed the panel that Philip Dormitzer, a former Pfizer executive who became a senior scientist at GSK, told colleagues at GSK that &#8220;in late 2020, the three most senior people in Pfizer R&amp;D were involved in a decision to deliberately slow down clinical testing so that it would not be complete prior to the results of the presidential election that year.&#8221;
The Judiciary Committee, led by Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), said that it had sought information from GSK after The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/health/pharma/pfizer-covid-vaccine-2020-election-probe-2f3ec247" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> in March that U.S. prosecutors were looking into a tip from the company that came in &#8220;soon&#8221; after President Donald Trump won a second term in 2024.
The Journal noted that Trump, who lost to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential contest, &#8220;for years has claimed that Pfizer sat on the positive results of clinical trials, which could have reflected well on his management of the pandemic and reassured voters as they headed to the polls. There has never been evidence to support the accusation, and the development of the Covid vaccines is widely viewed as a medical miracle, coming faster than any other vaccine in history.&#8221;

As relayed by the Judiciary Committee, GSK responded to the panel&#8217;s inquiry in mid-April. In another part of the reply given to congressional investigators, GSK said Dormitzer had requested a transfer over concerns about what the new Trump administration might do to him.
&#8220;In November 2024, shortly after the election, Dr. Dormitzer approached a representative from the GSK human resources team to speak about a potential relocation abroad. As the human resources representative recalls, in their meeting, Dr. Dormitzer was visibly upset; he requested that he be relocated to Canada due to concerns that he could be investigated by the incoming Trump Administration over his role in developing Pfizer&#8217;s COVID-19 vaccine,&#8221; GSK said. &#8220;According to the human resources representative, when asked what prompted his request, Dr. Dormitzer made a comment to the effect of: &#8216;Let&#8217;s just say it wasn&#8217;t a coincidence, the timing of the vaccine.'&#8221;
The Journal reported in March that GSK and Pfizer, who are rivals in the pharmaceutical industry, have sued each other over patent rights tied to vaccines.
Dormitzer, who has since left GSK, provided a statement to the newspaper.
&#8220;My Pfizer colleagues and I did everything we could to get the FDA’s Emergency Use Authorization at the very first possible moment,&#8221; Dormitzer said. &#8220;Any other interpretation of my comments about the pace of the vaccine’s development would be incorrect.&#8221;
The House panel sent a <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2025-05-15-jdj-to-dormitzer-re-vaccine-delay.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> to Dormitzer requesting documents and a transcribed interview by May 29. Pfizer Chairman and CEO Albert Bourla was the recipient of another <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2025-05-15-jdj-to-pfizer-re-vaccine-delay.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> that sought records by the same date.
In response to a request for comment, a Pfizer representative told The Daily Wire that the company received the letter asking about the allegations in the Wall Street Journal report and &#8220;will respond directly&#8221; to the House Judiciary Committee.
Pfizer also provided a statement that said: &#8220;The COVID-19 vaccine development process was driven by science and guided by the U.S. FDA back in 2020. We have consistently and transparently reiterated the facts and the timeline of the tireless work of scientists, regulators, and thousands of clinical trial volunteers who made the vaccine possible. Theories to the contrary are simply untrue and being manufactured.&#8221;
The Judiciary Committee emphasized that it is &#8220;unclear which Pfizer R&amp;D employees were involved with Dr. Dormitzer in the decision to delay the clinical testing,&#8221; but did note that he &#8220;represented to GSK that Pfizer&#8217;s CEO was not aware of the delay.&#8221;
A GSK spokesperson declined to comment.
Jordan (R-OH), a close ally to Trump, <a href="https://x.com/Jim_Jordan/status/1923046662139785572" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> on X in response to the information obtained by his panel: &#8220;Did Pfizer executives conspire to delay COVID-19 vaccine testing to influence the 2020 election? Republicans in Congress have proposed charging asylum seekers $1,000 to gain entry into the United States.
The proposal is part of a 116-page bill released by the House Judiciary Committee on Monday, which Republicans are seeking to include in a larger package implementing President Donald Trump&#8217;s agenda, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/28/us/politics/house-republicans-asylum-fees.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. If passed, the Republicans&#8217; proposal would mark the first time the United States charged migrants to claim asylum from countries where they face persecution. The money generated by the asylum claims would go toward securing the southern border.
Backers of the proposal say it would cut down on the total number of asylum claims and allow those with legitimate asylum claims to be admitted into the country more quickly. Proponents also argue that the $1,000 fee would weed out those from the process who are only trying to get a free ride to the United States and deter illegal entries at the southern border, according to <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5271541-republicans-immigration-bill-judiciary-trump-agenda/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hill</a>.
Those sponsoring children would face a $3,500 fee, and asylees already in the United States would be charged $550 to apply for a work authorization, according to the House GOP proposal. The measure was proposed after the Trump administration unveiled a program in February to give wealthy foreigners a path to citizenship in the United States with a &#8220;Trump Gold Card,&#8221; which would be sold for $5 million. The president said that he hoped the Gold Card would generate trillions of dollars in revenue, which could go toward paying off the national debt.
Revenue from the GOP-proposed asylee fees would likely go toward building new immigration detention centers, hiring more Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) staff, and helping immigration judges better staff their courts. The Times reported that the Republicans&#8217; budget blueprint calls for $45 billion for immigration detention centers and $8 billion for ICE staff.
Earlier this month, House Republicans <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hold-trump-scores-big-beautiful-victory-house-budget-vote" target="_blank" rel="noopener">passed</a> a budget plan that gets the ball rolling for Trump&#8217;s domestic agenda and allows for lawmakers in both the House and the Senate to begin developing legislation. The House Judiciary Committee is set to discuss its legislation, which includes the plan for asylee fees, this week. After House committees mark up individual bills that deal with their respective jurisdictions, Republicans will combine them into one reconciliation measure and try to pass the legislation with a simple majority vote.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) is set to warn lawmakers about a “potential judicial coup d’etat” during a congressional hearing about overreaching federal judges on Tuesday, according to prepared remarks obtained by The Daily Wire. 
Gingrich will appear at a joint hearing of two House Judiciary Committee subcommittees to testify about the American judicial system and possible remedies to the sweeping judicial orders that have blocked much of President Donald Trump’s agenda. From the firing of probationary workers to the deportations of suspected gang members, federal judges have issued a series of sweeping injunctions restricting the Trump administration’s actions. 
“There is clearly a potential constitutional crisis involving the Judicial Branch’s effort to fully override the Legislative and Executive branches,” a draft of Gingrich’s remarks says. “Fifteen District Judges effectively seized control of various Executive Branch duties in the first six weeks of the current presidency through nationwide injunctions. This is potentially a judicial coup d’etat. It clearly violates the Constitution and more than 200 years of American history.”
Gingrich will appear alongside Heritage Foundation Legal Scholar Paul Larkin and Tren de Aragua victim Cindy Romero during the hearing, which will take place before the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government and the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, Artificial Intelligence, and the Internet.
In his prepared testimony, Gingrich notes that the 15 nationwide injunctions issued against the Trump administration since January 20, 2025, are already more than the six that were issued against George W. Bush, the 12 against Barack Obama, and the 14 against Joe Biden during their time in office. 
According to Gingrich, 92% of the injunctions against Trump have come at the hands of judges appointed by Democratic presidents. 
“The notion that unelected lawyers can micromanage the Executive Branch – and override a Commander in Chief who received 77.3 million votes – should trouble every American,” Gingrich writes.
The former House speaker will call for Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts to intervene and establish a rule that would require any nationwide injunction issued by a lower court to immediately go to Supreme Court review. 
Gingrich also urged the lawmakers to pass the “No Rogue Rulings Act,” a bill that would restrict judges to only issuing injunctions that apply to the specific parties of the case being heard. The bill was introduced by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), who chairs the subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government alongside Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX). 
A copy of Larkin’s written statement obtained by The Daily Wire indicates that he will focus on the history of the courts in America and judicial practice. 
“The practice of entering nationwide injunctions against the federal government in any case not properly certified as a nationwide class action is both unlawful and Unwise,” a draft of Larkin’s remarks says. “Neither the Constitution, the Judicial Code, nor common-law principles of issue or claim preclusion authorizes a federal court to award relief to individuals who are not parties to a particular ‘Case’ or ‘Controversy.’”
The Trump administration has repeatedly requested the Supreme Court intervene in its battles against federal district court judges. So far, the court has been largely silent, except to reverse a court order instructing the administration to pay out $2 billion to foreign aid contractors.

House Republicans will probe the “partisan investigations” the FBI carried out under the Biden administration in a hearing next week, The Daily Wire has learned. 
The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight will speak with multiple former FBI agents about the &#8220;decline&#8221; of the bureau under President Joe Biden on April 2. Under Biden, the FBI faced criticism for its <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-set-to-sue-federal-government-for-100m-over-mar-a-lago-raid" target="_blank" rel="noopener">investigations</a> into President Donald Trump, treatment of Christians, and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kidnapped-at-gunpoint-pro-life-activist-testifies-about-harrowing-fbi-raid-of-home" target="_blank" rel="noopener">targeting</a> of peaceful pro-life advocates. 
The subcommittee said that the hearing will examine how the FBI “abandoned its core mission to uphold the Constitution and protect the American people, wasting taxpayers&#8217; hard-earned money on partisan investigations, ineffective procedures, and abusive tactics.”
Chaired by Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ), the hearing will also “highlight how the FBI, under the Trump Administration and Director Kash Patel&#8217;s leadership, is focused on regaining public trust and returning to its original mandate of protecting the American public.”
“Under the Biden administration, taxpayer dollars were being used for politically motivated investigations that harmed innocent Americans and violated their rights,&#8221; Van Drew told The Daily Wire. &#8220;Next week, we will uncover the full extent of these misused resources and the damage done to the American people. As chairman of this subcommittee, my priority remains to restore trust in our justice system and ensure that our agencies operate fairly and without political bias.”
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), who has made headlines for her attacks on Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Sen. Ted Cruz, is the ranking member on the subcommittee. 
The hearing is called &#8220;Inside the Biden FBI: Waste, Fraud, Abuse, and a Bureau Leadership in Decline.”
One of the witnesses will be Stewart Whitson, a former FBI supervisory special agent, who is the senior director of federal affairs for the conservative watchdog group Foundation for Government Accountability. Richard Stout, a former FBI special agent and director of the group Reform the Bureau, and former FBI special agent Nicole Parker will also testify. 
Biden’s FBI, helmed by Christopher Wray, was sharply criticized for its handling of numerous operations, including a raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home to seize alleged classified documents. 
The FBI also faced scrutiny over its armed raid of pro-life father of 11 Paul Vaughn at his home in rural Tennessee. Vaughn was arrested by the FBI over his involvement in a peaceful pro-life protest at Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, abortion facility in 2021. 
“My house was assaulted, my wife and children were terrorized, and I was kidnapped at gunpoint by four armed men,” Vaughn previously told Congress of the arrest. “I had just sent three of my children to the car so I could take them to school when the house began to shake from a loud banging near the front door. I heard men shouting from my front porch, ‘Open up! FBI!’”
Vaughn was eventually pardoned by Trump alongside nearly two dozen other pro-life activists.
FBI Director Kash Patel has promised to end political prosecutions at the bureau and focus on going after violent criminals and cracking down on drug trafficking.

Topline: South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai announced Monday that it would invest more than $20 billion in the United States to build new steel and auto plants. Meanwhile, senior Trump officials accidentally included a left-wing journalist in classified military discussions.
Hyundai has joined the long list of companies pouring billions of dollars into American manufacturing. On Monday, the South Korean car giant announced a nearly $21 billion investment in the United States — for context, that’s equal to the total amount they’ve invested here since 1986. As part of that effort, it will build a $6 billion steel plant in Louisiana that will employ more than 1,400 Americans. The company currently has two major auto plants on American soil — now it will open a third in Georgia, which will create another 8,000 jobs.
“With your leadership, Mr. President, Hyundai Motor Group is proud to be a stronger partner in America’s industrial future,” Hyundai’s Executive Chair Euisun Chung said at a White House press conference.
The president’s tariff policies had a significant influence on Hyundai’s decision to onshore jobs. As Hyundai Motor CEO Jose Munoz put it, “The best way for [Hyundai] to navigate tariffs is to increase localization.”
Monday’s announcement is only the latest in a series of investment pledges since Trump took office. Apple announced it was pouring $500 billion into new American manufacturing projects over the next four years. Before that, Japan’s SoftBank announced a hundred billion dollar investment in American AI infrastructure. Asian chip manufacturer Taiwan Semiconductor is pouring a hundred billion dollars to build high-tech chips in America. The United Arab Emirates announced a ten-year, $1.4 trillion investment in high-tech manufacturing. According to the president, there have been up to $4 trillion worth of new investments in the United States since Inauguration Day.
“This investment is a clear demonstration that tariffs very strongly work,” President Trump said. “And I hope other things also, but the tariffs are bringing them in at levels that have not been witnessed.&#8221;

On Monday, The Atlantic&#8217;s editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, published a report entitled “The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans.” That is exactly what happened.
Two weeks ago, Goldberg was mistakenly added to a group chat on the unclassified messaging app Signal. The chat included Vice President JD Vance, SecDef Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, along with the heads of the CIA, DNI, etc. Over the course of multiple days, the group debated whether or not to launch airstrikes against Houthi terrorists in Yemen who’ve been attacking ships in the Suez Canal for years.
Goldberg published a number of those messages — in one, VP Vance weighs the potential risks of airstrikes, writing, “3 percent of US trade runs through the suez. 40 percent of European trade does. There is a real risk that the public doesn’t understand this or why it’s necessary. The strongest reason to do this is, as POTUS said, to send a message.” Later, Vance said he “hate[s] bailing Europe out again” but would support the strikes if the team was in agreement. Ultimately, the group, led by Hegseth, opted to push for the strikes, which were carried out on March 15.
“This appears to be an authentic message chain, and we are reviewing how an inadvertent number was added to the chain,” said National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes.
While no incriminating messages were published, it’s certainly an embarrassing mishap for the administration, and there could be consequences. A number of prominent Democrats on the Hill have called for heads to roll and vowed to investigate why sensitive national security conversations were being held in such a manner. The White House <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/white-house-acknowledges-journalist-was-inadvertently-added-to-high-level-chat-on-houthi-strikes?topStoryPosition=undefined">confirmed</a> the legitimacy of the group chat, telling our own Mary Margaret Olohan, “We are reviewing how an inadvertent number was added to the chain,” while adding, “The thread is a demonstration of the deep and thoughtful policy coordination between senior officials.”

Topline: The Trump administration has been blocked again from deporting aliens under a 1798 invasion law.
On Monday, federal district court Judge James Boasberg decided not to lift a temporary restraining order he placed on the Trump administration to block its use of the 1798 Alien Enemies Act. The administration used it to move illegal aliens with alleged Venezuelan gang ties to El Salvador &#8212; the United States struck a deal with El Salvador’s president, Nayib Bukele, earlier this year to hold illegal aliens in its modern prison system. The judge said the administration misapplied the law and violated the due process rights of dozens of the illegal aliens flown to El Salvador.
Boasberg believes that shipping the aliens to El Salvador without a court hearing violated their due process rights. He also said that the administration’s use of the act to move the alleged gang members is likely an abuse of the law because, in his interpretation, it’s only applicable in wartime. The administration’s interpretation is a bit different. Trump’s team points out that the text of the law says that it can be used in wartime or when “any invasion or predatory incursion is perpetrated … against the territory of the United States.”
Critics of Boasberg and other lower court judges who have blocked elements of the president’s agenda have accused them of judicial activism and say their decisions are clearly politically biased rather than reflecting an impartial reading of the Constitution.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) observed on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uVJCRXMGvQ">Fox News</a> over the weekend that “62% of the federal injunctions, for example, that have been handed down in the last century have been handed down against President Trump, and 92% of those were done by partisan Democrat-appointed judges.”
Republicans in Congress are <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jim-jordan-says-house-may-soon-pass-bill-targeting-nationwide-injunctions">currently exploring</a> options for reigning in the power of the lower courts to issue nationwide injunctions.

Topline: After a year of delays, Disney’s latest live-action remake, &#8220;Snow White,&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/snow-white-bombs-with-one-of-disneys-lowest-opening-weekends-for-a-remake">tanked</a> at the box office on its opening weekend. The film, once poised to be a crown jewel in Disney’s lineup, has instead become a cautionary tale.
&#8220;Snow White&#8221; opened to a dismal $43 million domestically and $87 million worldwide against a reported $270 million budget. While the exact numbers are still being finalized, that means the reimagining of the beloved 1937 classic had one of the worst openings for a Disney live-action remake ever.
Many critics attribute the cool reception of the film to its deliberate inversion of the source material: Disney took a classic tale of romance and true love and turned it into one of self-empowerment.
Rachel Zegler, a Hispanic actress who played the titular character, has been a lightning rod for controversy – initially because she wasn’t a physical match for the princess whose “skin was white as snow” and later because of her caustic comments about the quality of the original film.
“The original cartoon came out in 1937 and very evidently so,” Zegler said in 2023. &#8220;There is a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her &#8212; weird, weird. So we didn&#8217;t do that this time.”
Other political controversies also grabbed headlines in the lead-up to the film’s release, including dueling stances from Zegler and co-star Gal Gadot on the war between Israel and Hamas. Zegler is a <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/03/21/disney-tried-rein-in-snow-white-star-free-palestine-tweet/">vocal supporter</a> of the Palestinians, while Gadot is an Israeli Jew who served in the IDF and has spoken out in defense of her country’s ongoing war effort, leading to <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/snow-white-film-faces-anti-israel-boycott-calls-targeting-gal-gadot/">backlash</a> from people on both <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/film/article/2024/aug/25/snow-white-israel-gaza-rachel-zegler-gal-gadot">sides of the issue</a>. Zegler also made waves when she told Trump voters she “didn’t need their business” in the lead-up to the election, and then afterward stated that she hopes Trump supporters never know peace &#8212; she would <a href="https://cbsaustin.com/news/nation-world/disney-actress-apologizes-for-wishing-no-peace-on-trump-supporters-negative-discourse-rachel-zegler-live-action-snow-white-presidential-election-kamala">later</a> attempt to walk that statement back.
But politics may not have been the driving force behind the film’s disappointing returns &#8212; it performed about as well in red counties as it did in blue counties, and the consensus among those who have seen the film is that it isn’t very good: even critics were generally sour on it, and the film is certified rotten on rating website <a href="https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/disneys_snow_white">Rotten Tomatoes</a>, with a 43% critic score and a 22% approval rating by all audiences. Perhaps there’s general fatigue with the Disney remakes, which have generally been soulless, shallow, cynical cash-grab simulacra of some of the most beloved films of all time.
International receipts and a second life on Disney+ could help &#8220;Snow White&#8221; break even, but the reputational damage of a domestic flop could have a major impact on Disney&#8217;s brand.

The House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on the slew of federal judges who have issued rulings that halted elements of President Donald Trump&#8217;s second-term agenda, Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) said on Wednesday.
Jordan made the announcement during an interview with CNN&#8217;s Kasie Hunt after James Boasberg, an Obama-appointed judge, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/congressman-introduces-articles-of-impeachment-against-judge-blocking-trump-deportations?topStoryPosition=undefined" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blocked</a> Trump’s invocation of the Alien Enemies Act to deport violent criminal illegal migrants.
&#8220;We&#8217;re going to hold hearings on this entire issue, the 15 injunctions that have been done in an eight-week timeframe. Judge Boasberg&#8217;s decision &#8230; hearing from experts, talking about this whole kind of body of law, this whole situation,&#8221; he said.
Over the past few weeks, some House Republicans have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/impeachathon-ensnares-growing-number-of-get-trump-judges" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unveiled</a> articles of impeachment against Boasberg and other judges they feel are delivering rulings that are unfavorable to the Trump administration out of political animus.
Trump himself took aim at Boasberg in a <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114183576937425149" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a> on Truth Social on Tuesday, calling him a “troublemaker and agitator” who “like many of the Crooked Judges’ I am forced to appear before, should be IMPEACHED!!!”
Jordan would not go as far as to reveal whether he would hold impeachment hearings, but the chairman did say, &#8220;We&#8217;re not ruling out anything.&#8221; He also stressed that &#8220;it&#8217;s important for us to gather information — get input on this issue.&#8221;
The House and Senate are currently led by Republicans, though by slim margins. While a simple majority to impeach could be achieved along party lines in the House, a bipartisan group of 67 senators would be needed for removal.
On Tuesday, Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chief-justice-john-roberts-speaks-out-against-trump-backed-push-to-impeach-judges" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> a rare statement pushing back on the GOP impeachment push and declaring the &#8220;normal appellate review process exists&#8221; for the purpose of fighting a judicial decision.
While Jordan acknowledged that he expects the White House to proceed with the appellate process, he emphasized that Boasberg&#8217;s history with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/meet-the-obama-appointed-judge-trying-to-stop-trump-from-deporting-criminal-illegals" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Russiagate</a> and &#8220;the pace&#8221; of the injunctions has become a &#8220;concern&#8221; for Republicans.
Jordan also touted a bill the Judiciary Committee recently <a href="https://issa.house.gov/media/press-releases/issa-legislation-stop-rogue-federal-judges-passes-house-judiciary-committee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">advanced</a> that seeks to restrain the number of injunctions being levied by federal judges and said there may be &#8220;another legislative remedy&#8221; that lawmakers may want to examine, too.

Jordan Plans Hearings On Flood Of Judges’ Injunctions Against Trump Agenda

A pro-life advocate said that President Donald Trump’s pardons of nearly two dozen pro-life protesters was a “powerful” rebuke to the weaponization of government.
Thomas More Society Executive Vice President and Head of Litigation Peter Breen testified Tuesday before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight about the Biden administration’s prosecution of peaceful pro-life protesters. Breen urged the lawmakers to take action to repeal the FACE Act, a Clinton-era law that makes it a federal crime to block an entrance to an abortion facility.
“The Biden DOJ engaged in a systematic campaign to abuse the power of the federal government against pro-life advocates, while that same DOJ ignored hundreds of acts of vandalism and violence against pro-life churches, pregnancy help centers, and other advocates,” Breen said.
The Thomas More Society represented several of the pro-life defendants who were prosecuted under Biden and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-21-pro-life-defendants-targeted-by-biden-doj-ask-trump-to-pardon-them" target="_blank" rel="noopener">later urged</a> the Trump administration to issue pardons.
On his fourth day in office, Trump pardoned 23 of the pro-lifers targeted by Biden, including multiple people who were serving years-long prison sentences.
“They should not have been prosecuted,” Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/they-should-not-have-been-prosecuted-trump-pardons-23-pro-lifers-targeted-by-biden-doj" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> as he signed the order. “Many of them are elderly people. They should not have been prosecuted. This is a great honor to sign this.”
Breen said that the pardons were a “powerful message.”
“On behalf of our clients and the pro-life movement as whole, we are thankful to President Trump for his recent pardons and to the members of this House who supported that effort,” he said. “Those pardons sent a powerful message to the country—and especially to the millions of Americans in the pro-life movement—that the federal government should not be weaponized against Americans because of their sincere beliefs in the sanctity of human life.&#8221;
During his testimony, Breen discussed the case of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kidnapped-at-gunpoint-pro-life-activist-testifies-about-harrowing-fbi-raid-of-home" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Paul Vaughn</a>, a pro-life father of 11 pardoned by Trump. In 2022, armed FBI agents raided Vaughn&#8217;s rural Tennessee home while his children were waiting to go to school. Vaughn was present at a pro-life protest in Tennessee in 2021 where he did not block entry into the abortion facility, but spoke with police and other protesters.
Breen urged the lawmakers to repeal the FACE Act, saying that a “Sword of Damocles” hung over pro-life advocates across the country as long as there was a possibility that future administrations could take a similar aggressive prosecutorial approach as the Biden administration.

A growing number of corporations are exiting a left-wing “climate cartel” amid pressure from congressional Republicans, The Daily Wire learned on Friday.
The committee has been investigating organizations like the Net Zero Asset Managers (NZAM) initiative and Climate Action 100+ which it says have worked together with corporations to push leftist ESG goals and decarbonization of the American economy. Earlier this month, NZAM paused its work after a flurry of high-profile companies, like BlackRock, left the company.
The exodus from NZAM also includes companies like AllianceBernstein, Northern Trust Asset Management, HASI, Muzinich and Co., Breckinridge Capital Advisors, Stonepeak, V-Square Quantitative Management, and SKY Harbor Capital Management, the committee told The Daily Wire.
Many of the companies, including Northern Trust Asset Management and SKY Harbor Capital Management, left after being contacted by the committee.
“More than 70 companies have left woke ESG organizations like NZAM and Climate Action 100+ since the Committee’s investigation started,” Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) told The Daily Wire. “This a huge win for freedom and American prosperity. All U.S. financial institutions should follow suit and abandon the climate cartel.”
At one point, NZAM, which says its goal is to push net zero greenhouse gas emission by 2050 or sooner, boasted its members controlled over $57 trillion in assets. The company has now suspended all activities following the departures.
BlackRock, which controls over $11 trillion in assets, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blackrock-exits-climate-activist-group-after-pressure-from-republicans" target="_blank" rel="noopener">left NZAM</a> on January 9, one day before a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-jim-jordan-demands-60-companies-provide-answers-on-climate-activism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">deadline</a> given by the company by the Judiciary Committee to respond to questions about whether its investment policies were impacted by its involvement with climate groups.

In a letter explaining its withdrawal, BlackRock executives admitted that the company&#8217;s involvement with NZAM “caused confusion regarding BlackRock’s practices and subjected us to legal inquiries from various public officials.”
“Our participation in NZAM didn’t impact the way we managed client portfolios,” the company said. “Therefore, our departure doesn’t change the way we develop products and solutions for clients or how we manage their portfolios.”
The Judiciary Committee has been investigating the cooperation between climate groups and corporations for the last two years and released a <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2024-06-11%20Climate%20Control%20-%20Exposing%20the%20Decarbonization%20Collusion%20in%20Environmental%2C%20Social%2C%20and%20Governance%20(ESG)%20Investing.pdf">report</a> called “Climate Control: Exposing The Decarbonization Collusion in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Investing,” in June.
Companies like BlackRock have also been under pressure at the state level. In November, 11 Republican attorneys general, led by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/republican-ags-sue-blackrock-say-it-has-conspired-against-coal-production" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filed a lawsuit</a> in November against BlackRock over its involvement with groups like NZAM.

Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee demanded Friday that over 60 companies provide answers on their involvement with leftist climate organizations, according to letters first shared with The Daily Wire.

They also asked whether their involvement with those organizations had any influence on their company policies and asset management. 
The lawmakers wrote that “the Committee has uncovered evidence that financial institutions are colluding with climate activists through initiatives like the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) and the Net Zero Asset Managers (NZAM) initiative to collectively adopt and impose left-wing environmental, social, and governance (ESG)-related goals, which may violate U.S. antitrust law.”
“The Committee has obtained evidence that members of GFANZ and NZAM attempt to impose a ‘net-zero’ climate agenda on U.S. companies in their investment portfolios,” they added. 
The Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero describes itself as “a global coalition of leading financial institutions committed to accelerating the decarbonization of the economy.&#8221; Net Zero Asset Managers, which says its signers have more than $57.5 trillion under management, is “an international group of asset managers committed, consistent with their fiduciary duty to their clients and beneficiaries, to supporting the goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner.”

In the letter to J.P.Morgan Asset Management shared with The Daily Wire, the lawmakers ask if its membership in the organization has “altered its ‘stewardship and engagement strategy’ with its portfolio companies&#8221; and if it had taken any actions to push the companies it invests in toward net zero. 
The lawmakers also asked the companies if their involvement with both climate initiatives had impacted its voting policy, requesting an answer to its questions by January 10, 2025. 
“The Committee has reason to believe that J.P. MorganAsset Management may be in possession of documents and communications related to GFANZ and NZAM’s collusive activity that would inform potential legislative reforms,” the lawmakers wrote. “This letter serves as a formal request to preserve all existing and future records and materials relating to the topics addressed in this letter.”
In June, the House Judiciary Committee <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-republicans-take-aim-at-climate-cartel-pushing-decarbonization-of-american-industry">released</a> a report saying that there was a “climate cartel” working together to push companies to impose radical environmental goals and the decarbonization of American industry.
