Third-wave feminists have set women back 50 years. Just look what they’ve done to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/womens-sports">women’s sports</a>. Their forebears in the movement would be appalled.
Once the promises of voting and property rights had been fulfilled by the early suffragettes — the Mary Wollstonecrafts and the Susan B. Anthonys — the second-wave feminists turned their attention to other iterations of sex equality. The Gloria Steinems and the Bella Abzugs burned their bras in the streets, descended on Capitol Hill, and demanded equal employment, equal pay, and equal educational opportunity. Their crowning achievement was perhaps Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 — the federal civil rights law guaranteeing sex equality in education in all its many manifestations, whether admissions, scholarships, graduate programs, housing accommodations, or athletics.
What a difference a half-century makes. To watch the patent discrimination extant in women’s sporting events these days, you’d be hard pressed to think Title IX exists at all.
For this, we have third-wave feminists to thank, those who have sacrificed women’s equality on the altar of equity for trans-identified males. They believe gender is performative, that the coherence of gender expression is illusory, that one’s “natural sex” is transitory. These feminists — the Judith Butlers and Gloria Anzaldúas — gifted us the poison of “queer theory,” and set up a battle of the sexes playing out in real time in high school gymnasiums everywhere.
These same feminists have fed us the <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/susanmshaw/2024/02/04/transgender-swimmer-lia-thomas-body-is-not-the-problem/?sh=5e8e68d9196a" target="_blank" rel="noopener">narrative</a> that divisions over transgender athletic participation are based not on the fulsome evidence of the athletic advantages of transgender-identified males, but rather on “our deeply-held and rather largely unexamined assumptions about biology and gender.”
But if the widely recognized proof of male athletic advantages isn’t sufficient for third-wave feminists to call an end to men in women’s sports, perhaps evidence of injured female athletes will be. These injuries sustained by girls and women during athletic contests with transgender athletes are not the stuff of mere speculation. Significant bodily harm to young women is already well-documented, and on the rise.
Take a recent game between the Collegiate Charter School of Lowell in Massachusetts and KIPP Academy in Lynn, Massachusetts. A trans-identified six-foot-tall male player with facial hair playing for the KIPP Academy girls’ basketball team, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/video-trans-controversy-erupts-when-girls-basketball-game-ends-in-forfeit-following-three-injuries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">injured multiple players</a> and eventually forced the Collegiate Charter School to forfeit. In now widely <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/high-school-basketball-player-who-identifies-girl-accused-causing-injuries-game-opponents-forfeit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">circulated video</a>, he is seen wrestling the ball away from one of the girls, causing her to hit the ground where she clutches her back in pain.

Events like these are no longer an aberration in school sports, thanks to Education Secretary Miguel Cordona’s <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/02/03/education-department-title-ix-00139459" target="_blank" rel="noopener">illegal interpretation</a> of “sex” in Title IX to also include “gender identity or expression.” Indeed, they are evidence that this new wave of sex discrimination has not yet reached its zenith.
In 2022, North Carolina volleyball player Payton McNabb suffered <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6334032228112" target="_blank" rel="noopener">serious injury</a> after a trans-identified male player spiked a ball at her head and rendered her unconscious.
Last year, a female athlete was injured by a trans-identified male opponent during a <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/11/04/news/massachusetts-high-school-field-hockey-player-loses-teeth-after-shot-from-male-on-womans-team/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">field hockey</a> game in Massachusetts when a ball he threw at her, knocking her teeth out.
Examples of other females being injured by males participating in overseas or semi-professional women’s sports abound, occurring in <a href="https://freebeacon.com/latest-news/watch-transgender-soccer-player-injures-female-opponent/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">soccer</a>, <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/1065633/watch-transgender-rugby-player-slams-female-athletes-coach-says-three-injured/?utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=WE_DSA_New-Targeting_2024&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gclid=CjwKCAiA_tuuBhAUEiwAvxkgTqgl5j8tXiwQo5fY_-xfbhEVxef8gPwPV-mvL9e7TtKkIy6j9jZYXRoCztsQAvD_BwE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rugby</a>, <a href="https://sportslawexpert.com/2022/12/12/professor-maintains-that-trans-athletes-causing-serious-injuries-to-girls/?utm_source=rss&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=professor-maintains-that-trans-athletes-causing-serious-injuries-to-girls" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hockey</a>, and <a href="https://www.bjjee.com/articles/transgender-mma-fighter-who-broke-female-opponents-skull-are-we-getting-too-politically-correct-with-reality/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">mixed martial arts</a>. And these injuries are just the ones we know about; the political overlords at legacy media companies who are fully beholden to the trans minority have surely kept others quiet.
Where, now, is the feminist outrage of our grandmothers? Where the dismay of the third-wave feminists at what their prescriptions on intersectionality and queerness have wrought?
How many more female athletes must be injured before a new wave of feminists rise up—those with the first wave’s understanding of moral order and natural law, possessed of the outrage and unflinching demands for equality of the second wave?
We modern women — we who have held the vote for little more than 100 years, considered by many segments of male society for centuries to be little more than <a href="https://www.thepublicdiscourse.com/2024/02/92615/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">skin and bones</a> — must recognize the third wave has failed us and ceded ground it took our grandmothers and great grandmothers years to claim. We must never cease to believe our own eyes, call out discrimination where it hides in plain sight, and identify the chauvinism platformed by commitments to “queerness,” and equity, and the fungibility of sex — something even arch feminist Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg <a href="https://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/94-1941.ZO.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> was “not fungible.” 
We must do these things, if not for our own sake, then for that of those women yet to come.

Every state makes it a crime to intentionally injure someone — like shooting or stabbing them without justification.
That’s why it has long been a crime in most states to intentionally infect someone with a disease — including a sexually transmitted disease (STD). After all, the consequences of an STD can be just as long lasting and deadly as if the perpetrator shot or stabbed the victim.
But apparently the Biden administration disagrees. Led by radical Assistant Attorney General <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2021/06/28/the-justice-departments-lawsuit-against-georgia-is-completely-partisan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kristen Clarke</a>, the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division is suing Tennessee for attempting to enforce a statute that is designed to protect the public from HIV-positive prostitutes.
According to Clarke and her cronies, Tennessee’s attempt to protect is citizens is actually thinly veiled <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justice-department-sues-tennessee-enforcing-state-law-discriminates-against-people-hiv" target="_blank" rel="noopener">discrimination</a> that violates the Americans with Disabilities Act.
In addition to Clarke, the zealots who filed this lawsuit against Tennessee include Disability Rights Section Chief Rebecca Bond, Deputy Chief Kevin Kijewski, Trial Attorney Stephanie Berger, and Trial Attorney Ali Szemanski. A brief look through their resumes — even those of the lower-ranking trial attorneys — shows that they have worked for various organizations that support the far-Left’s pet projects.
For example, <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephanie-berger-914b448" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Berger</a> previously spent several years working for the Empire State Pride Agenda, which disbanded after then-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed an executive order protecting transgender rights. And <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/ali-szemanski-7b448042" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Szemanski</a> previously worked or interned for the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights of Boston, the ACLU of Pennsylvania, the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race &amp; Justice, and the MacArthur Justice Center.
These connections to the radical Left shouldn’t come as a surprise. The politicized and Left-leaning hiring practices within the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division have been a <a href="https://oig.justice.gov/reports/2013/s1303.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">long-standing problem</a>. Only a full embrace of the far-Left’s worldview can explain the filing of this otherwise inexplicable lawsuit.
Passed in 1991 at the height of the AIDS epidemic, Tennessee’s <a href="https://www.tn.gov/content/dam/tn/health/program-areas/39-13-516.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">aggravated prostitution statute</a> provides that a “person commits aggravated prostitution when, knowing that such person is infected with HIV, the person engages in sexual activity as a business or is an inmate in a house of prostitution or loiters in a public place for the purpose of being hired to engage in sexual activity.” In other words, if a person knows he or she has HIV and engages in prostitution (itself a crime), then that person faces harsher penalties.
According to the Biden Justice Department, however, this is discrimination because it unfairly treats individuals differently based solely on their HIV-positive status and “does not require prosecuting entities to make any individualized determinations in order to achieve a conviction.”
But think that through: It’s not discrimination to prosecute an alcoholic for driving while under the influence. And it’s not discrimination to prosecute a drug addict for possessing or selling drugs. Tennessee isn’t prosecuting and punishing people based on their status but instead is prosecuting and punishing them based on their conduct and the risk of harm that conduct poses to the community. It’s why most states prosecute armed robbery more harshly than unarmed robbery — lawmakers view the former as posing a greater risk, and being more harmful, to the community. The same is true here.
Of course, the Justice Department doesn’t have a sound legal argument against this. They simply allege that since “the passage of Tennessee’s aggravated prostitution statute, there has been significant progress in the understanding of and treatment of HIV.” According to them, “beliefs and assumptions that individuals with HIV will spread it, or that having HIV is a death sentence, are now outdated and unfounded.”
That may well be true, but as that same filing readily admits, that largely depends on following proper protocols for medication and treatment. Furthermore, Tennessee isn’t targeting the HIV population at large — only those who know they are infected and are engaging in the crime of prostitution where the transmission risk is likely much higher than in other settings.

Why shouldn&#8217;t Tennessee be able to punish criminal conduct with aggravating circumstances such as these more severely? After all, no one is seriously contending that engaging in prostitution while being HIV-positive is less dangerous and less harmful than doing so without.
The Justice Department filing identifies “Complainant A” as one of the “victims” of Tennessee’s supposedly discriminatory law. According to the Justice Department, “Complainant A is a Black transgender woman who lives in Memphis, Tennessee.” This individual had HIV, knew it, and engaged in “prostitution near a church or school.” Tennessee charged this individual with aggravated prostitution, which of course comes with the subsequent sex-offender registration requirements and other collateral consequences.
Because Tennessee simply enforced the law, the Justice Department now says the state discriminated against this individual. In fact, they’re asking the court to prohibit any further enforcement of Tennessee’s aggravated prostitution statute, remove individuals from the sex-offender registry who have been convicted of aggravated prostitution, terminate reporting requirements for individuals on the sex-offender registry who have been convicted of aggravated prostitution, expunge their records, and provide compensatory damages (money!) to Complainant A and others the Justice Department has deemed harmed.
With all the problems facing the Biden administration this year, their dedication to extorting everyday Americans to advance a radical social agenda is astounding. Americans deserve, and should expect, more from a department supposedly dedicated to seeking justice. Enough is enough.

Most Americans recognize that the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/anti-defamation-league" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anti-Defamation League</a> (ADL) as a far-Left, dark-money behemoth with assets of nearly a <a href="https://www.adl.org/sites/default/files/documents/2023-10/2022%20ADL-ADLF%20Consolidated%20Financials%20vFINAL-1.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">quarter-billion dollars</a>. The once-respected Federal Bureau of Investigation is now viewed as being similarly politicized. Overall <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-fbi-loses-the-public-opinion-la-nyc-trust-crime-order-wray-7166e7d8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">support</a> for the agency has nosedived to only 37% among the general public and a meager 17% among Republicans.
Yet few Americans realize how closely the ADL works with the FBI to advance their leadership’s political interests. This is a dangerous collaboration wherein the increasingly radical group provides ideologically driven guidance to people with the guns. Right now, the FBI is pointing those guns at the political enemies of the far-Left.
The ADL’s work covers the usual Left-wing cause célèbres: <a href="https://www.adl.org/resources/press-release/adl-and-national-urban-league-announce-expansion-partnership-focusing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fighting voting integrity measures</a>, pushing for open borders policies and amnesty for <a href="https://www.adl.org/what-we-do/protect-civil-rights/immigration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">illegal aliens</a>, and <a href="https://www.adl.org/global-search?keywords=black%20lives%20matters&amp;sort_by=search_api_relevance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">vigorously defending</a> the Black Lives Matter riots, to name a few. The group has now politically weaponized its charges of anti-Semitism, falsely smearing conservatives while excusing blatant anti-Semitism among its political allies. For example, the organization has groundlessly denounced <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/elon-musk-blames-adl-lost-revenue-says-anti-semitism-kind-rcna103292" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Elon Musk</a>, a powerful Libertarian voice, as an anti-Semite in a bald-faced effort to drain his social network, X, of advertising revenue. Yet, when now-Minority Leader <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/12/politics/kfile-hakeem-jeffries-college-editorial-defending-uncle-from-antisemitism/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hakeem Jeffries</a> (D-N.Y.) came to the defense of his uncle for anti-Semitic remarks he made in the 90s, the organization refused to condemn him.
Jonathan Tobin of Jewish News Syndicate traces ADL’s hard Left turn to its change in leadership from longtime leader Abe Foxman to Jonathan Greenblatt, a former staffer in the Clinton and Obama White House. Tobin <a href="https://www.jns.org/after-the-adl-gets-caught-spreading-woke-ideology-greenblatt-must-go/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">writes</a>, “Greenblatt has helped shift the ADL from its former stance as the nonpartisan gold standard for monitoring hate to being just another liberal activist group whose priority is helping the Democratic Party.”
Last month, The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project, released an <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2024/01/24/exclusive-adl-urged-law-enforcement-target-opponents-transgender-ideology/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">investigative report</a> detailing an “Extremist Sitrep” email from the “ADL Law Enforcement” account to The Washington State Fusion Center, a collective of various law enforcement entities spanning from local to the FBI. The email advises law enforcement officers responsible for investigating domestic terrorists to focus their resources on the likes of Matt Walsh, Chris Rufo, and Libs of TikTok.
Much like the FBI’s infamous anti-Catholic targeting memo, the ADL email suggests that law enforcement agencies — people with guns and the power to imprison and financially destroy enemies of the state — should concentrate their efforts on non-violent citizens whose only “crime” is to have exercised their First Amendment freedoms in support of political viewpoints contrary to the authoritarian Left. The goal here is clearly to punish the “thought criminals” and force adherence to the dogmas of the state.
What’s the big deal about such an email problematic? Law enforcement agencies must get all sorts of memoranda, requests, and phony tips from every corner of the nation, right?
The problem here is that, according to former FBI agents, they are conditioned from the very beginning of their careers to be receptive to ADL propaganda. One of the first experiences of a new agent is an ADL-sponsored trip to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., The ostensible purpose of the trip is to impress on new agents that they bear a tremendous responsibility that should never be abused.
That lesson should be salubrious. But former agents tell me the trip’s real purpose is to prepare agents to be receptive to the onslaught of propaganda and rewards that the ADL will be sending their way throughout the coming years. At the very beginning of an agent’s career, the FBI is sending the clear message that the ADL is a trusted partner.
The ADL and FBI partnership only grows from there. According to the ADL’s website, “We educate annually an estimated 15,000 law enforcement personnel from local, state and federal agencies.” Moreover, “in 2021 alone, the ADL Center on Extremism (COE) provided law enforcement with critical intelligence about extremism over 1,300 times and tracked over 7,300 incidents of hate on our online, interactive <a href="https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.adl.org%2Fresources%2Ftools-to-track-hate%2Fheat-map&amp;data=05%7C02%7CMike.Howell%40heritage.org%7C13cedf7bcd3144c56f9808dc1e946452%7Ccbd93b4867ea46759ee84178b273204a%7C0%7C0%7C638418869974399067%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=59DAs5AT10u%2B2G%2BZdX0XuhLsiN%2Bhr5%2Frzla8qHmbFPE%3D&amp;reserved=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">H.E.A.T. map</a>.” The ADL even operates a school for executive-level law enforcement officials:
<blockquote>In 2003, ADL founded the Advanced Training School, which has provided education on extremism and terrorism for senior law enforcement from more than 250 agencies across the U.S. This three-day course provides an examination of major types of extremist movements, case studies of recent terrorist acts presented by law enforcement leaders with firsthand experience, and guidance on the critical importance of protecting civil rights and liberties.</blockquote>
The very agency the Feds trust to educate them on matters of “extremism” is producing politically driven, far-Left reports on who counts as an extremist. Much like the Southern Poverty Law Center, the ADL writes and applies the definition they wish government to enforce. They take care to ensure that it predominately captures those opposed to their ideology, while excusing their political allies. Were these organizations to apply a neutral definition of hate or extremism, it would undercut the leftist narrative that MAGA extremists and their ilk are the most clear-and-present danger to the United States.
Beyond orientation, training, and propaganda, the ADL provides FBI personnel with awards. Since 2010, the ADL has been handing out “ADL SHIELD Awards” to FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors for investigative and prosecutorial successes. It’s a brilliantly subversive tactic. The awards cost the ADL next to nothing; in exchange organization receives a false veneer of legitimacy and builds a list of FBI executives and agents beholden to the ADL.

Conditioning FBI personnel to be receptive to ADL political propaganda and then doling out rewards to FBI leaders is beyond unseemly. With this incentive structure in place, is there any reason to doubt that the FBI would be more inclined to take in and act on slanted ADL material?
Small wonder that public confidence in the Bureau is at record lows. One obvious remedial measure would be to end the partnership between the ADL and the FBI. It’s time to draw a bright line between dark, far-Left operations and the most powerful law enforcement entity in the country and make sure it is not crossed.

Failed public policies are undermining the institution of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/marriage" target="_blank" rel="noopener">marriage</a> in America. Rates of both marriage and child births have been trending down for decades, but the current cost-of-living crisis is poised to accelerate these declines. If you can’t afford a place to live, chances are you won’t get married and have kids.
That’s precisely the calculus for millions of young Americans today who can’t make ends meet despite a record number of them holding second or even third jobs. Sixty percent are living paycheck to paycheck. Americans have accumulated a record-high $1.1 trillion in credit-card debt as many can’t cover even necessities.
But Americans aren’t just falling into debt — they’re falling behind on payments too. Defaults and delinquencies are rising at the fastest pace since the Great Recession when there was a mortgage meltdown and a global financial crisis.
The financial strain on American families explains why people view current economic conditions so unfavorably in polling. Perhaps nothing illustrates this pessimism better than the housing market.
The monthly mortgage payment on a median-price home has doubled in the last three years. Unless your income has also doubled, you’re falling behind when it comes to buying a house.
The median price of a new home has shot up to a stratospheric $435,000. Even the median price of an existing home, at about $387,000, would have been inconceivable three years ago.
The typical family buying a home today will have a monthly cost of homeownership around $3,000. That’s about half the median household income — before income taxes. It’s no wonder that the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s <a href="https://www.atlantafed.org/center-for-housing-and-policy/data-and-tools/home-ownership-affordability-monitor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">homeownership affordability index</a> is at a record low today.
The index even shows that the cost to own a median price home in several major metropolitan areas requires more than 100% of the median household after-tax income. In only a single metropolitan area with at least 500,000 people is the median price home affordable in America.

While homeownership is normally a great tool for building wealth, it is also often a precursor to major milestones in life, like starting a family. But with the American dream of homeownership having turned into a nightmare, nearly an entire generation of young people can’t buy a home and are delaying family formation because of it. 
And this isn’t simply theory – <a href="https://www.federalreserve.gov/econres/feds/monetary-policy-and-birth-rates-the-effect-of-mortgage-rate-pass-through-on-fertility.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">empirical research</a> published by Federal Reserve economists has already demonstrated that higher mortgage interest rates has a negative impact on the birth rate. That’s because those higher mortgage interest rates increase the cost of homeownership.
What caused this sad state of affairs? It was a deadly combination of impolitic public policies.
Since 2020, the federal government has been spending trillions of dollars it didn’t have, running massive deficits. The Federal Reserve covered these deficits by simply creating money for Congress to spend. That devalued the dollar, which fueled inflation as prices soared – including prices for housing.
But home prices got an extra boost from the Fed’s artificially low interest rates. What a homebuyer is really concerned about is the monthly payment on a home, not so much the home’s price. Lower interest rates allowed people to take on much larger mortgages for the same monthly payment, creating frenzied bidding wars for homes.
When interest rates finally rose to fight inflation, they pushed monthly mortgage payments through the roof, completely out of the reach of most Americans. It also trapped millions of Americans in their homes.
When a home is sold with a mortgage, the homeowner loses the loan and must get a new one, at current market rates. If someone bought a home just a few years ago, they are likely going from a 2-3% mortgage to a 7-8% one. That would cause their monthly payment to explode.
The options are to drastically downsize or not move at all — and millions have chosen the latter. That’s helped cause a severe shortage of homes for sale, the lowest level in decades. Consequently, home prices are staying high despite today’s higher interest rates.
While the failures of public policy are often measured in dollars, the unaffordability of housing today demonstrates that there can be even more far-reaching consequences: families never formed, and lives never lived.

A Heritage Foundation-linked group is suing the CIA over records of its investigation into COVID-19 after a whistleblower said analysts were paid to change their conclusions.
The Oversight Project, a government watchdog launched by the Heritage Foundation, filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the CIA last week. The lawsuit seeks to compel the agency to produce records of its investigation into the origins of COVID-19, according to a copy of the suit obtained by <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2023/12/26/heritage-foundation-sues-cia-covid-records/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Caller</a>.
“This is an action under the Freedom of Information Act (‘FOIA’), 5 U.S.C. § 552, to compel production of CIA records relating to allegations that members of the CIA’s COVID Discovery Team, a group of employees tasked with analyzing the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, received monetary incentives to change their position on the origins of the virus,” the suit says.
The Oversight Project began seeking CIA records after a whistleblower testified to Congress that the agency offered payment to its analysts to change their findings about COVID-19’s origin. The CIA’s official finding about the origin of the illness are inconclusive.
Assessments from the Energy Department and the FBI <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/21/us/politics/covid-pandemic-lab-leak-intelligence.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> a leak from a lab in Wuhan, China, is the most likely origin of the virus. Five other agencies said the disease likely spread first from natural transmission, or that it spread to humans from animals through a wet market or some other vector.
House investigators into the origins of COVID-19 <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/release/testimony-from-cia-whistleblower-alleges-new-information-on-covid-19-origins/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in September that a senior-level CIA officer has said the agency offered money to its COVID investigators to change their conclusions. Republicans on the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence have requested more information from the CIA regarding its investigation.
“According to the whistleblower, at the end of its review, six of the seven members of the Team believed the intelligence and science were sufficient to make a low confidence assessment that COVID-19 originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, China,” Ohio Rep. Brad Wenstrup, who chairs the subcommittee, and Ohio Rep. Mike Turner, who chairs the Intelligence committee, said in a statement.
Oversight Project chief counsel Kyle Brosnan said the CIA and Biden administration are refusing to turn over important information about the origins of COVID-19.
“A CIA whistleblower has made serious allegations that the agency bought off employees of the agency to further obstruct efforts to get to the truth of the virus’s origins. This obstruction cannot stand and we’re fighting in federal court to get to the bottom of this,” Brosnan said, according to the <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/12/26/news/cia-accused-of-hiding-payments-to-bury-covid-lab-leak-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a>.

CIA Sued Over COVID Records After Allegations Of ‘Monetary Incentives’ Paid To ‘Change’ Findings

How will history judge the ideologically motivated doctors who are surgically mutilating their gender-confused, often mentally disturbed juvenile patients, as well as feeding them hormones and other drugs with dangerous, long-term, deleterious effects?
Frankly, they deserve to go down in history with the doctors who implemented the <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/tuskegee/timeline.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">infamous</a> Tuskegee Experiment. Or the ones who “treated” mental illness and other medical problems <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-lobotomy-how-performed-why-2023-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">with</a> lobotomies, purveyors of what ultimately became “one of the most criticized medical procedures in history.”
History seems to be repeating itself within the medical profession, which — when it comes to gender politics — is being driven by political correctness and critical gender theory, instead of biology and science. Doctors are using harmful, experimental, and permanently disfiguring “medical” procedures instead of trying to treat the underlying mental health conditions of their patients, something that leads to an increased risk of suicide and medical complications.
Why? Perhaps because they’re earning a <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2023/12/07/only-beginning-lawsuits-detransitioners-rise/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fortune</a> doing it: $2.1 billion in 2022.
These physicians need a remedial American history lesson in some of the most shameful and damaging episodes of misdiagnosis and mistreatment by their profession’s ethically challenged predecessors.
The Tuskegee Experiment, officially known as the “Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male,” was a heinous medical project started in 1932 at the Tuskegee Institute by the U.S. Public Health Service that didn’t end until 1972. It involved 600 black men, 399 of whom had syphilis, a progressive, deadly disease. In order to “study” the long-term effects of the disease, these men were enticed to participate with free medical exams, meals, and burial insurance.
But the patients were deliberately and intentionally not treated for syphilis. Instead, they were unknowingly given placebos instead of the effective treatment developed for the disease by the early 1940s – penicillin. As a <a href="https://www.history.com/news/the-infamous-40-year-tuskegee-study" target="_blank" rel="noopener">result</a>, the subjects “experienced severe health problems including blindness, mental impairment – or death,” as did many of their infected wives and children.
And then there were lobotomies, which involve severing the connection between the frontal lobe and other parts of the brain, resulting in significant changes in personality and occasionally in severe and permanent brain damage. They became <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-lobotomy-how-performed-why-2023-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">popular</a> “starting in the mid-1930s and throughout the ’40s to treat everything from schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety to ulcerative colitis and intractable pain.” Not only were there no long-term medical studies to justify such radical surgery before physicians started using this surgical mutilation to treat patients, but it often caused “epilepsy, personality defects, chronic headaches, seizures, permanent disability, or even death.”
The gruesomeness of this surgical intervention was graphically illustrated by Jack Nicholson and Louise Fletcher as Nurse Ratched in the Academy Award-winning 1975 film, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” and by Jessica Lange in “Frances” (based on the real-life story of actress Frances Farmer).
In our gender-obsessed age, the new Tuskegee and lobotomy victims are the indoctrinated, social media-obsessed, gender-confused children who increasingly find themselves subjected to what amounts to a grand medical experiment. So little is known about <a href="https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/treatments/21526-gender-affirmation-confirmation-or-sex-reassignment-surgery" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;gender affirming&#8221;</a> medical interventions — from removing sex organs, to fashioning faux organs, to chemical castration and more — that <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12299393/Portland-surgeon-dubbed-Dr-Frankenstein-reveals-drawbacks-genital-ops-trans-adolescents.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Blair Peters</a>, a self-described “queer surgeon” in Oregon, acknowledged on video the significant complications associated with these procedures. He admitted that doctors like him were “figuring out what works” as they went along. 
The revealing video was later taken down.
“Gender affirming” surgery involves the creation of false “neo-vaginas” from penis and scrotum tissue, the creation of faux “penises” from the forearm and inner thigh skin of young women, and even the complete removal of a “non-binary” minor’s genitals, an increasingly popular procedure known as “<a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12299393/Portland-surgeon-dubbed-Dr-Frankenstein-reveals-drawbacks-genital-ops-trans-adolescents.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nullification</a>.” <a href="https://www.emra.org/books/transgender-care-guide/surgeries-and-complications#:~:text=Complications%20of%20this%20procedure%20include,the%20blood%20supply%20is%20interrupted." target="_blank" rel="noopener">Complications</a> include incontinence, bleeding, infection, tissue necrosis, loss of sexual function, and more. Critically, these procedures provide <a href="https://www.thepublicdiscourse.com/2020/09/71296/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">no actual mental health or medical benefit</a> — thereby debunking the prevailing narrative that “gender confirmation” procedures are “lifesaving care.”
Gender “medicine,” like the Tuskegee experiments and surgical lobotomies, is Frankensteinian. They are experimental. They solve nothing. And they displace better and safer medical practices to suit current cultural fashions.
What’s more, minors are particularly vulnerable to the social manipulation and contagion of the gender medicine industrial complex. Children don’t reach <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3621648/#b5-ndt-9-449" target="_blank" rel="noopener">full cognitive maturity</a> until around <a href="https://psycnet.apa.org/doiLanding?doi=10.1037%2F0003-066X.55.5.469" target="_blank" rel="noopener">age 25</a>. So, a manufactured gender identity “crisis” targeting minors under the age of 18 for gender “affirming” procedures is particularly suspect considering their inability to meaningfully consent and understand the long-term consequences of their decisions.
Several European countries that once uncritically embraced “gender-affirming care” for minors have backed off their previous positions as the lack of evidence supporting the safety of these procedures is revealed, and the evidence of negative long-term health consequences accumulates. In the United States, the FDA is <a href="https://aflegal.org/america-first-legal-sues-bidens-fda-for-illegally-hiding-records-regarding-the-off-label-use-of-puberty-blockers-and-cross-sex-hormones-on-children/#:~:text=WASHINGTON%2C%20D.C.%20%E2%80%93%20Today%2C%20America,cross%2Dsex%20hormones%20on%20children." target="_blank" rel="noopener">being sued</a> for allegedly concealing records regarding the off-label use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones on minors. Nearly <a href="https://www.hrc.org/resources/attacks-on-gender-affirming-care-by-state-map" target="_blank" rel="noopener">two dozen states</a> have enacted laws prohibiting “gender-affirming” interventions for minors and medical malpractice claims by victims are <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2023/12/07/only-beginning-lawsuits-detransitioners-rise/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">multiplying</a>.
The writing is on the wall. If we refuse to face it, this will be our Tuskegee, our Cuckoo’s Nest, and the blame will be ours.

In theory, online dating should be great. There is a wide range of dating apps and sites with differing personas. Singles have so many more options and can scroll through carefully polished profiles as they wait for their post-brunch Ubers. The reality, however, is less romantic. What appears to be the perfect modern solution for the age-old challenge of finding a life partner may actually be making your goal more difficult.
Yes, certain sites, like Christian Mingle and eHarmony, cater to those looking for a serious relationship or marriage. And many are.
Yet the more mainstream applications and sites seem to have alternative end goals. As Jon Birger, journalist and author of Make Your Move: The New Science of Dating and Why Women Are in Charge, has pointed out, in the 2019 annual report of Match Group — the parent company of Match, Tinder, Hinge, OkCupid, and Plenty of Fish, — the words, “married, marriage, wedding, couple, boyfriend, girlfriend, spouse, husband, and wife” do not appear.
<a href="https://ifstudies.org/blog/5-questions-with-family-studies-jon-birger-on-womens-untapped-power-in-todays-dating-market" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Such dating apps make a profit</a>, not by creating permanent couples, but “by attracting new customers and by retaining old ones,” Birger notes. “A lot of apps like Tinder make money off advertising, too. So, every time a Match or Tinder member gets married and stops using the apps, that’s one fewer paying customer.” Further, he adds, “Tinder, Match, and OkCupid do not want to get you off the market. They want to transform you into lifelong shoppers.”

Match Group “admits as much in its annual report, boasting that ‘successful experiences &#8230; drive repeat usage.’ Translation: Start dating someone terrific on Tinder, and you’ll keep returning to the app to find someone even more terrific.” For many, the combination of this perverse incentive structure and the addictive nature of the apps leads to a cyclical lackluster experience that goes on for years.
Of course, dating applications (like job placement services) must be mindful of maintaining a positive reputation to attract people in the first place, and “marriage” not appearing in the annual report of Match Group is also a reflection of shifting views on relationships. Yet, it is also the case that dating applications develop and promote a virtual dating culture of their own, sometimes mimicking how women and men normally tend to interact with one another, and other times exacerbating and elevating the most negative of human impulses.
The user-selected filters (such as height preferences) on the sites and apps vary. Some are more robust and substantive, others sparser and shallower. All have benefits and downsides. They necessarily narrow a daunting pool of people.
But many apps impose additional algorithmic filters of their own that give top priority to looks, and users are sometimes filtering out people virtually they might very well consider in person. (Physical attraction is certainly important, but dating profiles that are almost solely comprised of photos, like those on Tinder, operate as hook-up advertisements.) There is a delightful mystery to attraction and compatibility that defies algorithmic precision.
Personal filters are also only useful if users know what they’re looking for in a partner, which is not always the case. Those in their 20s seldom have a clear and immutable vision of their futures, as indicated by the fact that the average college student changes his or her <a href="https://utulsa.edu/normalizing-the-norm-of-changing-college-majors/#:~:text=On%20average%2C%20college%20students%20change,new%20study%20from%20the%20EAB." target="_blank" rel="noopener">major at least three times</a>. Further, in “<a href="https://psycnet.apa.org/record/2004-17367-002" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Unexpected Legacy of Divorce: Report of a 25-Year Study,”</a> University of California, Berkley professor Judith S. Wallerstein and San Francisco State University professor Julia M. Lewis found that children of divorced parents are often unsure of what to value and look for in their future spouses. And the generations migrating to dating apps are <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2010/03/22/missing-mom-or-dad/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the least likely</a> to have been raised by both parents. 
Unsurprisingly, men and women filter through profiles in different ways. Men tend to take a scatter-shot approach, liking a high number of profiles in hopes of a few reciprocations they will later comb through in more detail. They generally <a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-state-our-unions/202208/whats-behind-the-rise-lonely-single-men" target="_blank" rel="noopener">outnumber women on the apps</a>, sometimes two to one. As a result, women can <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/02/02/key-findings-about-online-dating-in-the-u-s/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">become overwhelmed</a> and bombarded by messages from men who may or may not have read their profiles. Women’s way of filtering is to raise their standards and sometimes dismiss men for minor flaws or infractions. Many men and women imagine there is someone better out there and become addicted to the slot machine-like experience of scrolling through seemingly unlimited profiles.
In addition to being deflated by cognitive dissonance, female users of dating apps and platforms can develop a skewed perspective of men. The majority of female online daters have been sent an <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/02/02/key-findings-about-online-dating-in-the-u-s/">unsolicited sexually explicit image or message</a>. Individuals who utilize dating apps are <a href="https://ifstudies.org/blog/who-uses-dating-apps">more likely to engage</a> in sexual deception, have negative drinking and sexual behaviors, and have adversarial sexual beliefs (“e.g. how much participants agreed with statements like ‘Sex is like a game where one person ‘wins’ and the other ‘loses’”). These are not preconditions for positive interactions and can influence future dating behavior; women, more than men, report being single because they <a href="https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2020.00746/full">are afraid of getting hurt</a>.
Women &#8220;swipe right&#8221; only <a href="https://www.eviemagazine.com/post/women-more-selective-80-men-unattractive-on-dating-apps-recent-research" target="_blank" rel="noopener">about 30% of the time</a>, and men with above-average combined income and education receive about <a href="https://ifstudies.org/blog/on-internet-dating-sites-women-prefer-men-with-higher-incomes-and-more-education" target="_blank" rel="noopener">three times as much interest</a> than those with average income and education levels. Dating app algorithms also boost the most “liked” profiles. As a result of these dynamics, a small percentage of male users receive a lot of attention. Often, they do not want to commit to a relationship, and a hook-up culture prevails.
Some will find online dating exciting for a while, and others really will find love. But what’s next for those who, finally frustrated with dating apps, give up on romance altogether? Many still wish to have a family. Turns out, there’s an app for that too. Just a Baby, which matches co-parents and sperm and egg donors <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/swipe-right-sperm-donor-new-tinder-style-app-matches-prospective-n756821" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“is like Tinder on prenatal steroids,”</a> and the app Nodal is <a href="https://www.axios.com/pro/health-tech-deals/2022/09/21/nodal-launches-tech-surrogacy-5-million-seed">“Bumble for surrogacy.”</a>
Such applications seem like the next step for those left unmoored by the <a href="https://americanmind.org/salvo/the-tech-trajectory/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tech trajectory</a>. As one Millennial woman preparing to freeze her eggs for the second time <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/swipe-right-sperm-donor-new-tinder-style-app-matches-prospective-n756821" target="_blank" rel="noopener">remarked</a>, “I believe social media has ruined dating: It&#8217;s a hook-up culture, and no one gets to know each other long enough to know if they would be suitable partners beyond the romantic sense. Oftentimes I’d go on meaningless dates, get stood up, blown off, or ghosted. How will those odds ever lead to a successful marriage or kids? Likely it won&#8217;t. And it&#8217;s rather exhausting.”
The dynamics of dating apps are disheartening, and <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/02/02/key-findings-about-online-dating-in-the-u-s/">polls indicate</a> that about half of users have found the experience very or somewhat negative. This could open up the opportunity for creative ways of introducing singles in person, like speed dating, matchmaking, or singles’ events. Moreover, being cognizant of the negative impacts of the tech trajectory and where it leads will hopefully encourage singles to prioritize more traditional and embodied means of meeting: through friends, family, and at church.
That’s easier said than done, and to be sure, it requires a fair amount of work. But considering the exhausting and dispiriting experience of online dating today, surely it’s worth the effort.

House Oversight Committee Chairman <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/james-comer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James Comer</a> (R-KY) is using his power to investigate every nook and cranny of the Biden family, and revealed his latest thoughts on the matter on Friday. Some conservative movement allies say that he deserves credit, but also that Congress&#8217; job isn&#8217;t done yet.
On Friday, Comer told Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) what his committee&#8217;s next steps are and provided some key insight into the matter, as reported by the <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/07/22/bidens-linked-to-russia-ukraine-via-more-bank-records-comer/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a>.
“We have more bank records that we’ve received,” Comer <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/07/22/bidens-linked-to-russia-ukraine-via-more-bank-records-comer/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> to Cruz on his podcast &#8220;The Verdict.&#8221;
“We’re working on a third memorandum,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They will show transactions from Ukraine and Russia.&#8221;
Comer has always been quick to point out that his committee&#8217;s work is ultimately about the president — not a deep-dive of the president&#8217;s sons or family members&#8217; personal problems.
To that extent, Comer said, &#8220;Joe Biden has been selling access to our enemies for decades — long before [first son Hunter Biden] was involved.&#8221;
The Post also noted that the Kentucky Republican also claimed that he believed that family bribes could explain many of the mind-boggling decisions as president.
&#8220;I think there are certain policy decisions that Joe Biden has made since he’s been president that the only explanation can be because of the money his family received,&#8221; Comer added.

Just two days earlier, America and Comer&#8217;s committee heard shocking, sworn testimony about the IRS investigation into Hunter Biden. After that House Oversight hearing, The Heritage Foundation&#8217;s &#8220;Oversight Project&#8221; Director Mike Howell emailed The Daily Wire his reaction.
&#8220;Chairman Comer is to be commended for his dogged investigation and literally providing the receipts via bank records,&#8221; Howell said. &#8220;The full weight of Congress should be behind achieving actual accountability, immediately.&#8221;
Still, Howell noted that the GOP Congress is tasked with actually implementing change — not simply uncovering the illicit behavior.
&#8220;The goal here is the de-weaponization of government, not just exposure, and Congress’ efforts will be judged by that standard,&#8221; Howell said.
Howell also noted, &#8220;This sort of activity, running a multimillion dollar international play to pay scheme involving the current President of the United States, is usually reserved for third world countries.&#8221;
The Heritage Foundation started the Oversight Project &#8220;to make government more transparent to the public and to allow Congress to use its oversight authorities with maximum effectiveness.&#8221; Their work includes fighting Hunter Biden&#8217;s plea deal and getting to the bottom of it how it came about.
&#8220;We are fighting this at Heritage in federal court and will be formally opposing the plea deal next week,&#8221; Howell told The Daily Wire. &#8220;In that fight, we forced the DOJ to admit that it has over 2,500 pages of communications between [U.S. Attorney David Weiss’s] office and DOJ or between Weiss&#8217; office and other judicial districts about the Hunter Biden investigation. That’s a substantial amount of coordination for a supposedly independent investigation. The Hill should subpoena and obtain that document set immediately.&#8221;
Howell also praised the two IRS Whistleblowers — Gary Shapley and Joe Zeigler — for testifying before Comer.

2. Wuhan Won&#8217;t Get Any More U.S. Taxpayer Funding
The Biden <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/us-formally-suspends-funding-to-wuhan-institute-of-virology" target="_blank" rel="noopener">administration has formally suspended</a> funding for the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the Chinese research institute at the center of the COVID lab leak theory. The administration claims the institute does not comply with federal regulations. The Department of Health and Human Services informed the Wuhan Institute this week that the U.S. is cutting off funding — potentially permanently.

The decision comes after a months-long review by HHS, which concluded that the institute — a leader in coronavirus research based in Wuhan, where the COVID-19 virus began — “is not compliant with federal regulations and is not presently responsible.” The decision to scrap funding came after the Wuhan Institute failed to provide documents related to concerns that it had violated the National Institutes of Health’s biosafety protocols.
Rapid Reaction: The truth is that a Health and Human Services Department’s Office of Inspector General report alleged that both NIH and EcoHealth Alliance — the organization that provided WIV with taxpayer money — were careless in their business dealings with the Chinese lab.
That alleged trail of negligence, it seems, has left numerous questions in its wake — particularly just how dangerous the research being conducted at WIV was and its relation to the COVID pandemic.
According to the <a href="https://oig.hhs.gov/oas/reports/region5/52100025.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IG document released</a> in January, NIH and EcoHealth Alliance had established monitoring procedures for WIV, yet both failed to comply with those measures. Given the potential danger of the experiments being conducted by these groups, irresponsibility raises major alarms, according to the government.
The reality is that we&#8217;ll likely never know what WIV was doing with COVID viruses just before the pandemic hit — though thoughtful observers can probably take a guess.

3. Media Will Be Allowed At <a href="https://fox17.com/news/local/camilo-campos-crime-alert-tennessee-willimson-county-judge-denies-media-restriction-in-case-of-franklin-soccer-coach-accused-of-rape" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Illegal Alien</a> And Alleged Rapist Soccer Coach Hearing
A Tennessee judge denied a motion on Tuesday to restrict media from a case involving a soccer coach accused of drugging and raping young boys. Police in Franklin, Tennessee, arrested Camilo Hurtado Campos earlier this month. According to police, a restaurant worker found Campos’ cell phone which contained a large number of disturbing pictures and videos of young boys being assaulted. Police have confirmed Campos entered the U.S. illegally and had resided in Franklin for more than 20 years. Lawmakers, like Senator Marsha Blackburn, want answers.
A hearing for Campos is slated for July 25.
Rapid Reaction: Campos should be the face of the U.S.&#8217; dangerous immigration policies. According to officials, Campos was in the country for more than twenty years. He embedded himself in Franklin, TN — <a href="https://www.bestplaces.net/voting/city/tennessee/franklin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a town that voted 62%  Republican in 2020</a> — and allegedly took advantage of children for years.
He never should have been in the country in the first place. America should <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/we-should-deport-pelosi-attacker-and-all-other-illegal-aliens" target="_blank" rel="noopener">deport</a> all illegal aliens.
4. Illegal Aliens Cause Alleged Machete Mayhem
In Waltham, Massachusetts, a machete fight led to the arrest of three illegal aliens. 
Authorities say that 27-year-old Osman Aguilar-Borrayo, 21-year-old Kevin Aguilar-Borrayo, and 19-year-old Bryan Aguilar-Borrayo, were arrested last Friday around 6:30 p.m. Osman was arrested for armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery on a pregnant woman, assault, and battery with a dangerous weapon and mayhem, <a href="https://www.bostonherald.com/2023/07/18/machete-fight-leads-to-ice-capture-of-3-illegal-immigrants/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The Boston Herald. His two younger brothers were arrested on mayhem charges. ICE says that all three illegally crossed the southern border and were given an immigration hearings court date but never appeared. Now they face deportation.
Rapid Reaction: Had the Aguilar-Borrayo brothers never engaged in an alleged machete fight last Friday night, then law enforcement officials might have never known that the three illegal aliens were living in Waltham, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/massachusetts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Massachusetts</a>, at all.
How many more men like the Aguilar-Borrayo brothers are out there? Well, it’s hard to say.
Millions have flooded the country in the past two and a half years alone. Deportations have been at <a href="https://www.axios.com/2023/03/27/jim-jordan-ice-deportations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">low</a> for much of the Biden presidency.
In fact, the Biden administration has made it a <a href="https://apnews.com/article/supreme-court-immigration-deportation-a03ef5cc1b5468b396c0ff4688ff186d" target="_blank" rel="noopener">priority to only deport</a> “criminal” illegal aliens. So, rather than be proactive and deport all illegal aliens, authorities are advised to wait for illegal aliens to commit crimes before nabbing them. If those illegal aliens don’t get busted for committing crimes, then they’re virtually able to stay forever.

Katrina Trinko, the editor-in-chief of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/heritage-foundation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daily Signal</a>, noted that the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/associated-press" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Associated Press</a> took a claim from <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/target" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Target</a> that conservative backlash against the company had turned “violent” at face value, prompting the <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/media" target="_blank" rel="noopener">news</a> outlet to quietly amend the story.
Conservatives have launched a boycott effort against Target after the retail behemoth <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/target-slammed-after-offering-female-swimsuits-that-have-extra-crotch-coverage-are-tuck-friendly" target="_blank" rel="noopener">marketed</a> a female swimsuit as “tuck-friendly” and with “extra crotch coverage,” as well as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/target-faces-backlash-over-pride-collection-designer-behind-satan-respects-pronouns-shirts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hired</a> an artist who formerly created Satanic items to make various “Pride Month” designs for the company. Target claimed in a statement that the firm’s stores have seen threats after introducing the items.
“Since introducing this year’s collection, we’ve experienced threats impacting our team members’ sense of safety and well-being while at work,” the company said. “Given these volatile circumstances, we are making adjustments to our plans, including removing items that have been at the center of the most significant confrontational behavior.”
The Associated Press had <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230523231834/https://apnews.com/article/target-pride-lgbtq-4bc9de6339f86748bcb8a453d7b9acf0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in the lede of an article written earlier this week that stores have faced “intense backlash from some customers including violent confrontations with its workers.” Trinko, whose publication is an initiative of the conservative Heritage Foundation, wrote to the Associated Press to ask for the source of the claim, which had not been mentioned in the statement from Target. The outlet then softened the language of the lede and <a href="https://apnews.com/article/target-pride-lgbtq-4bc9de6339f86748bcb8a453d7b9acf0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">added</a> another sentence: “Target said that customers knocked down Pride displays at some stores, angrily approached workers and posted threatening videos on social media from inside the stores.”
“Again, what are the specifics? What is a threatening video?” Trinko <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2023/05/24/leftists-try-new-playbook-with-target-pride-month-uproar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> in a commentary article at the Daily Signal. “What constitutes angrily approaching a worker? How many customers at how many stores knocked down Pride displays?”
The Associated Press did not include an editor’s note in the updated version of their article explaining the reason for the change. Lauren Easton, vice president of communications for the Associated Press, said in an email to Trinko that as the outlet “continued to report out the story, we were able to provide more specific examples of the incidents that took place and we updated the story accordingly.”
Trinko noted that California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom recently <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gavin-newsom-blasts-target-ceo-for-selling-out-lgbtq-community-after-retailer-pulls-trans-themed-merchandise" target="_blank" rel="noopener">used</a> the Associated Press article as the basis of a social media post claiming that there is a “systemic attack on the gay community happening across the country” bound to impact racial minority groups. She predicted that “insinuating conservatives are dangerous and a genuine threat to the safety of others” is merely a new tactic for companies and ideologues impacted by conservative boycotts.
“This is the Left testing out a new playbook. They’re frightened by what’s happening to Bud Light, which continues to grapple with massive declines in sales. Leftist activists know that having corporations side with them and promote leftist values is crucial to their long-term success,” Trinko continued. “If Target has receipts, as the kids say when they want proof of something, let’s see them. Let’s see the security camera footage of what exactly made employees feel unsafe. Let’s see the attacks on displays. Let’s hear the threats for ourselves.”

<a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/tucker-carlson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tucker Carlson</a> delivered a speech on Friday contending that the American political debate has moved beyond a contest between rival policy positions and is now driven by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/leftism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">factions</a> with fundamentally “evil” objectives.
The veteran television host and journalist, whose Fox News show attracts millions of viewers every evening, remarked at an <a href="https://twitter.com/ColumbiaBugle/status/1649601516783665153" target="_blank" rel="noopener">event</a> for the <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/heritage-foundation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Heritage Foundation</a> that fellow conservatives must swiftly adjust their approaches to the national conversation since some political forces desire to tear down the nation rather than engage in legitimate political dialogue.
“We write our papers and they write their papers, and may the best papers win. I don’t think that’s what we’re watching now at all. I don’t think we’re watching a debate on how to get to the best outcome. I think that’s completely wrong,” Carlson said. “There is no way to assess, say, the transgenderist movement with that mindset. Policy papers don’t account for it at all. If you have people who are saying, ‘I have an idea, let’s castrate the next generation, let’s sexually mutilate children,’ I’m sorry, that’s not a political debate. That has nothing to do with politics.”
LGBTQ activists and Democratic lawmakers have indeed opposed legislation in various states which <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tennessee-gov-signs-bills-protecting-children-from-sex-change-procedures-drag-shows" target="_blank" rel="noopener">prohibit</a> sex change surgeries and hormone treatments for children, ban sexually explicit drag shows for minors, and protect female sports leagues from men who identify as women. President Joe Biden and other senior White House officials have meanwhile <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/joe-biden-dylan-mulvaney-and-the-collapse-of-the-west" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hosted</a> roundtable discussions with prominent activists about “gender-affirming health care” for children.
Carlson also referenced Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/treasury-secretary-yellen-claims-restricting-abortion-access-would-have-damaging-effects-on-americas-economy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">asserting</a> last year that regulating abortion would have “very damaging effects on the economy” as women leave the labor force to care for their children. The commentator noted the drastic pivot which the conversation about the sanctity of life has taken in recent years toward seeing abortion as a “positive good.”
“If you’re telling me that ‘Abortion is a positive good,’ what are you saying? Well, you’re arguing for child sacrifice,” he continued. “When the Treasury Secretary stands up and says, ‘You know what you can do to help the economy? Get an abortion,’ well, that’s an Aztec principle, actually.”
Carlson likewise described such a sentiment as a “theological phenomenon” that fundamentally cannot be considered a rational policy position. “And that’s kind of the point I’m making: none of this makes sense in conventional political terms,” he added. “What you’re watching is not a political movement. It’s evil.”
Carlson told the Heritage Foundation audience that older conservatives must shift their mindset in order to effectively engage in the current political arena. “I’m just noting what’s super obvious. Those of us who are in our mid-50s are caught in the past on how we think about this,” he remarked. “One side’s like, ‘I’ve got this idea, and we have this idea, and let’s have a debate about our ideas.’ They don’t want a debate. Those ideas won’t produce outcomes that any rational person would want under any circumstances. Those are manifestations of some larger force acting upon us.”

The gala was the pinnacle event of the two-day summit billed as Heritage’s Leadership Summit. According to the organization, the purpose of the event was to &#8220;demonstrate consensus around big-picture questions facing America and deliver a conservative policy agenda equipped to unite the movement around an offensive strategy to take back our country, restore self-governance, and rebuild key institutions of civil society.&#8221;
Prior to the event, Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts praised the founders of Heritage, as well as others in the movement who have helped achieve success.
“Ever since Heritage’s founding 50 years ago, this organization has dedicated itself to advancing conservative policy with world-class research, analysis, and advocacy,&#8221; Roberts said. “Today, we celebrate those who had the vision for Heritage and the accomplishments they achieved on behalf of the American people. We equally celebrate the men and women throughout the conservative movement who have worked tirelessly to save our country alongside all of us.&#8221;
For his part, Bentley has not divulged his political beliefs, but has expressed frustration with Washington, D.C., and the politicization of country music.
“[What’s happening in country music] is definitely a microcosm of the country at large,” Bentley <a href="https://outsider.com/entertainment/music/country-music/dierks-bentley-talks-political-tensions-in-country-music-everything-is-just-so-divisive/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Rolling Stone. “There’s a lot of tension, a lot of anger, a lot of mistrust. A lot of fear being used on both sides to build their base.”
