South Korean lawmakers are moving to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol over a short-lived martial law declaration that was unanimously shot down in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
Opposition parties in South Korea introduced a motion to impeach Yoon on Wednesday. That motion could be voted on as early as this week and would require a two-thirds majority to pass the unicameral National Assembly. Six of the nine justices on South Korea’s Constitutional Court would then have to approve the motion to remove Yoon from office, according to the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/south-korea-yoon-martial-law-25a2a7c957e77a19f771b6b7c56a2173" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Associated Press</a>.
The opposition coalition in the National Assembly, led by South Korea’s Democratic Party, holds 191 seats in the 300-seat parliament, so the impeachment motion would need support from some members of Yoon’s own People Power Party to pass.
Parliament members voted unanimously 190-0 in an emergency session early Wednesday to rescind Yoon’s Tuesday martial law declaration. That vote included more than a dozen members from Yoon’s party.
The situation means that Yoon, a conservative politician who has been friendly with the United States, may be nearing the end of his political career. His martial law order shocked even members of his own party and inspired widespread backlash. Armed soldiers surrounded the National Assembly and clashed with protesters in a scene reminiscent of South Korea’s military rule of the 1980s.
Yoon’s gamble has left experts wondering what the president believed would happen.

“I was in Seoul less than two weeks ago meeting with very senior officials and there was no indication that Yoon would do this, or even a warning of Yoon’s growing anger,” said Bruce Klingner, a senior research fellow and expert on northeast Asia for The Heritage Foundation. “It really was quite a shocking development. I think it caught everyone by surprise.”
“I think the implications are that Yoon, perhaps, is a dead man walking, and that he may well be impeached to be replaced by someone who will not be in line with U.S. objectives,” Klingner told The Daily Wire.
Yoon delivered a speech denouncing “shameless pro-North Korean anti-state forces that are plundering the freedom and happiness of our people” before declaring martial law. The military rule, which placed strict regulations on the media and political activity, was to remain in effect until Yoon could &#8220;eradicate anti-state forces … and normalize the country,” he said.
The president cited an unworkable relationship with South Korea’s opposition-led National Assembly, which had targeted 22 officials for impeachment since Yoon took office in 2022 and, according to Yoon, planned to target 10 more officials. The president also cited National Assembly reductions in the national budget, which he said “undermined the essential functions of the state and turned Korea into a drug paradise and a public order panic.”
Yoon&#8217;s complaints about the parliament fell short of justifying a declaration of martial law, however. The National Assembly’s behavior, while obstructionist, was carried out through constitutional means, according to Klingner.
“It does seem to be extra-constitutional actions by the president,” Klingner said. “There is a clause, which he cited in his declaration, as allowing the president to declare martial law, but that is reserved for war, armed conflict, or a national emergency, none of which seems to be prevalent here.”

<h2>The Dreyfus Affair</h2>
While the Holocaust executed by Nazi Germany may be the most sensational example of antisemitism in Europe, hatred of Jews has been a perennial and insidious evil on the Continent since antiquity, gaining strength through the medieval period and persisting into our own time. Despised as an “inferior race,” the Jews became Europe’s routine outsider scapegoats. One of the most infamous instances of such scapegoating, the Dreyfus Affair in late-nineteenth-century France, was a harbinger of horrors to come—horrors that would necessitate the establishment of a Jewish state that would, in time, become a critical ally to the United States.
During the Third Republic, Alfred Dreyfus, a young Jewish army officer, was accused of selling military secrets to the Germans, including cutting-edge French weapon designs.(1) A document allegedly in Dreyfus’s handwriting seemed to prove his guilt, and in January 1895 he was convicted of treason by a closed court martial. In a humiliating ceremony formally expelling him from the French army, Dreyfus’s medals and insignia of rank were torn from his uniform and his sword broken, and he was paraded in front of the assembled officers, who jeered him as a traitor and a Jew. He was shipped off to Devil’s Island, the notorious penal colony off the coast of French Guiana, where the mortality rate was so high that it was known as the “dry guillotine.”

That should have been the end of Dreyfus, but the lack of substantial evidence remained troubling to some observers, as did the growing impression that he had been targeted primarily because he was a Jew. Eventually it was revealed that it would have been logistically impossible for Dreyfus to have had dealings with the Germans in question. Another suspect emerged, one whose handwriting more closely matched the incriminating document than Dreyfus’s. The case that had once seemed open and shut began to look like a set-up.
The Dreyfus Affair was hotly debated between the traditionalists, who saw the controversy as a Jewish plot to undermine traditional French military culture, and progressives, who believed the persecution of Dreyfus was a shameful manifestation of antisemitism masked by the anti-German sentiment of that period following the Franco-Prussian War. The new French President Félix Faure, who had inherited the scandal, became the de facto leader of the traditionalists, while the journalist and future prime minister Georges Clemenceau spearheaded the effort to clear Dreyfus.
On January 13, 1898, the front page of Clemenceau’s newspaper L’Aurore screamed “J’Accuse … !” Distilling the concerns and misgivings about the Dreyfus Affair into one resonant phrase, the headline introduced an open letter to President Faure by the critic and author Émile Zola. It was the most detailed account of the injustices done to Dreyfus and a warning to the president that the scandal threatened to engulf his administration. Acknowledging that his letter potentially violated the law as libel, Zola defiantly declared, “My fiery protest is the cry of my very soul.”(2)
Zola was duly convicted of libel and fled to England, but the case against Dreyfus began to fall apart. A second court martial convicted him again but commuted his sentence, and ten days later he was pardoned by a new president. Acceptance of the pardon required an admission of guilt, but Dreyfus was fully exonerated in 1906.

While justice had finally been done for Dreyfus, Jews sensed a growing threat. Many believed that they could no longer depend on assimilating into European culture, as had been the hope, but needed to establish their own state to protect themselves. The Dreyfus Affair inspired the pioneering Zionist Theodor Herzl to write The Jewish State: An Attempt at a Modern Solution to the Jewish Problem in 1896, laying out the case for reestablishing a Jewish nation in the Holy Land.
The concept was hardly new, as Jews had been living in the region for millennia and had governed it as far back as the time of King David. But for the Austro-Hungarian Herzl, the pogroms of isolation and marginalization of the nineteenth century made the project immediate and urgent. As a young man he had hoped that enlightenment would lead to the end of antisemitism. However, he came to believe that hatred of Jews in Europe was so entrenched that the only real solution was a state for Jews in their ancestral homeland, where they could live and worship in peace and security. Herzl pressed his case with everyone from the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II to Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany. The organizations that would eventually provide the foundation of the Israeli government, notably the Zionist Congress and the Jewish Agency, were formed.
Herzl’s proposition was controversial, but it was also powerful, and modern Zionism gained steam after his death in 1904. Had his vision of a safe haven for Jews been realized in the early twentieth century, one of the greatest evils in history might have been avoided. But it was not yet to be. The gathering antisemitism he identified in European society spread into the mainstream in Germany in the 1920s, feeding on the general discontent following Germany’s humiliating loss in World War I.

Pam Bondi, President-elect Trump’s nominee for U.S. Attorney General, is the most experienced career criminal prosecutor ever slated to be the chief law enforcement officer of the United States. She has more criminal trials under her belt as a prosecutor than any modern U.S. Attorney General, and possibly more than every previous one.
In our nation’s history, there have been 86 U.S. Attorneys General. Those 84 men and two women each had distinguished careers as state governors, members of Congress, U.S. Attorneys, a Secretary of War and Secretary of the Navy, a law school dean, state and federal judges, state attorneys general and a district attorney. Some of them acted as criminal prosecutors at the state or federal level for periods of time.
Much of the commentary about Bondi has centered around her media hits and campaign appearances in support of President Trump, or her role on the team that defended the president during his impeachment hearings. Some critics or skeptics of Bondi suggest that those roles prove that she is somehow too loyal to Trump and thus won’t be able to fulfill her responsibilities as Attorney General. One has to wonder if those same critics would have taken issue with the fact that President John F. Kennedy appointed his brother to be the Attorney General.
But to us, the top prosecutor of the United States should have prosecution experience. Lots of it.
None of the 86 prior U.S. Attorneys General spent 18 years as a local criminal prosecutor handling every type of case from domestic violence to homicide and capital cases. Pam Bondi has.
Several former Attorneys General tried criminal cases as prosecutors. For example, Edwin Meese, the 75th U.S. Attorney General under President Ronald Reagan, was a Deputy District Attorney in the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for eight years, and handled hundreds of cases, including a capital case. Janet Reno, the 78th Attorney General under President Bill Clinton, was a line prosecutor in the Miami-Dade County State’s Attorney’s Office, but didn’t try any cases. Later, after she was elected as the State’s Attorney for that office, she tried a smattering of high-profile cases, but was not known as “trial dog,” a person who has mastered and tried myriad criminal cases.

The Justice Department is a massive federal agency. It’s composed of 40 separate organizations, employs more than 115,000 people, and oversees all federal prosecutions. The 94 U.S. Attorneys, spread across the country, handle the bulk of federal prosecutions. Leading that organization is a massive undertaking for anyone.
Bondi served as Attorney General for Florida from 2011-2019. The Florida Attorney General’s Office is one of the largest in the country, employs almost 1,300 people, and is spread across 14 offices throughout the Sunshine State. That office, like the U.S. Justice Department, handles a wide variety of criminal and civil matters.
If extensive criminal trial experience as a prosecutor and leading a large state attorney general’s office matters — and it certainly does for us — then Pam Bondi stands out in the crowd and is uniquely qualified to be the next Attorney General of the United States.

Bondi Has The Proven Experience To Be Attorney General

A party in North Philadelphia descended into <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/philadelphia/news/philadelphia-shooting-jessup-cumberland-oct-19/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">chaos</a> earlier this month when a juvenile boy fired off 50 rounds, injuring seven people and leaving one 16-year-old girl in critical condition. At one point in time, stories like this were unthinkable. Then, they were rare. But now, incidents like this are routine in Philadelphia. 
Rather than facing this human suffering head-on, Philadelphia progressives are desperate to spin a different narrative about crime in their city. With an election just around the corner, <a href="https://www.phillymag.com/news/2024/07/29/crime-in-philadelphia-plummeting/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">headline</a> after <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/crime/gun-violence-crime-rate-philadelphia-2024-20241008.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">headline</a> after <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/crime/inq2/gun-violence-philadelphia-2024-shootings-20240617.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">headline</a> is touting that crime is down. 
District Attorney Larry Krasner earlier this year <a href="https://whyy.org/articles/violent-crime-philadelphia-falls-2024-larry-krasner/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">predicted</a> “the largest reduction in violent crime in recorded history in the United States.” And Vice President Kamala Harris has been <a href="https://www.nbclosangeles.com/decision-2024/crime-rate-statistics-trump-harris-biden-fact-check/3540700/?os=vbkn42tqho&amp;ref=app" target="_blank" rel="noopener">adamant</a> that crime rates have declined during her administration. For its part, the Philadelphia police department is <a href="https://www.phillypolice.com/crimestats/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claiming</a> a 40% year-to-date decrease in homicides in 2024 and a 42% reduction in shootings.
As the City’s website readily admits, however, these crime data are “preliminary,” which means they will likely be revised upward as the year continues. And they may even be even edited retroactively, as the FBI <a href="https://www.realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2024/10/16/stealth_edit_fbi_quietly_revises_violent_crime_stats_1065396.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recently did</a> for national crime statistics to cover up how unsafe America’s streets have become. 
Regardless, is the narrative true that Philadelphia has begun to solve its crime problem?
Unfortunately, it’s not. While the short-term decrease in crime during an election year might seem encouraging, the reality is that it isn’t indicative of real change. Violence in Philadelphia is still at historic highs.
To understand why, some perspective is in store. 
From 2013 to 2017, Philadelphia <a href="https://imprimis.hillsdale.edu/rogue-prosecutors-and-the-rise-of-crime/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">averaged</a> 271 homicides per year. But then something happened. From 2018 through 2023, there was an average of 457 per year. Black people represented 83 percent of those victims. The same drastic jump in crime applied to shooting incidents, which increased from a five-year average of 1,047 per year to 1,588 per year. And aggravated assault while armed with a handgun, went from a five-year average of 2,209 per year to 3,116 per year. And retail thefts, which went from a five-year average of 7,412 per year to 9,084 per year. And auto theft skyrocketed from a five-year average of 5,691 to 8,665 per year.
So, what happened in 2018? 
Larry Krasner happened. He was elected as the 26th District Attorney of Philadelphia, thanks in part to $1.7 million in <a href="https://whyy.org/articles/soros-weighed-in-with-even-more-money-in-das-race/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">funding</a> from progressive billionaire George Soros. At the time, Vice President Kamala Harris also vocally <a href="https://x.com/kamalaharris/status/864870584823533568" target="_blank" rel="noopener">supported</a> Krasner, calling his victory “key to criminal justice reforms like rolling back mass incarceration and ending cash bail.”
Unfortunately for the citizens of Philadelphia, Harris was right. Krasner’s policies would reflect the pro-crime agenda of his radical benefactor and lead to a <a href="https://imprimis.hillsdale.edu/rogue-prosecutors-and-the-rise-of-crime/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">massive increase</a> in crime which has completely transformed the city. 
On his first day in office, Krasner fired 31 experienced violent crimes prosecutors, who he <a href="https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/tv/story/2021-04-20/philly-da-larry-krasner-pbs-review" target="_blank" rel="noopener">viewed</a> as “ticks.” Then, he pursued new radical <a href="https://phillyda.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/DAO-New-Policies-2.15.2018.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">policies</a> such as making retail theft of less than $500 worth of goods a petty crime, <a href="https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/12/philadelphia-district-attorney-larry-krasner-criminal-justice-reform.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">instructing</a> all his assistant district attorneys to stop seeking bail on low-level charges, and <a href="https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/12/philadelphia-district-attorney-larry-krasner-criminal-justice-reform.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lowering</a> charges for first- and second-degree murderers. 
These policies <a href="https://www.phillymag.com/news/2019/11/23/larry-krasner-criminal-justice-reform/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">earned</a> Krasner the affectionate title “Uncle Larry” from Philadelphia’s criminals. And unless Uncle Larry is removed from office, Philadelphia’s improved 2024 crime numbers will prove to be what they are: an election year illusion and an embarrassment when put in their proper historical perspective.

It doesn’t have to be this way. The people of Philadelphia should be able to live in a safe city, and not just during presidential election cycles when radical Democrats like Kamala Harris are trying win their vote. 
Thankfully, the solutions are simple, and conservatives are ready to deliver them. So are some moderate Democrats who already work in the city. Mayor Cherelle Parker, who <a href="https://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/philly-mayoral-election-2023/cherelle-parker-crime/3568885/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ran</a> directly opposed to Kamala Harris’ progressive orthodoxy on crime and called for the city to hire hundreds more police officers, is a good example. So is Police Chief Kevin Bethel, whom Parker appointed in January. 
Since becoming the city’s top cop, Bethel and his officers have <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/philadelphia/news/kevin-bethel-philadelphia-crime-rate-kensington/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">implemented</a> a curfew in high-crime areas, cracked down on people driving illegal ATVs and dirt bikes, and removed long-standing encampments. Conservatives and public safety advocates have been advancing all of these are commonsense policies for years.
Bethel attributes some of his success to collaborating with “federal partners” such as “ATF and DEA and FBI and Homeland Security.” But all Bethel’s good police work won’t count for anything if Krasner continues to let criminals off the hook. And the collaboration he counts on could end abruptly if Vice President Harris is elected and implements her “defund the police” agenda. As she <a href="https://www.wsj.com/opinion/kamala-harris-still-aims-to-hold-police-back-violent-crime-federal-control-law-enforcement-f6201bb5" target="_blank" rel="noopener">explained</a> recently on “The Breakfast Club,” she supports the federal government playing a bigger role in setting local policing rules, restricting certain police tactics, and getting rid of qualified immunity for Philadelphia cops.
To prevent horrific shootings like the one that occurred earlier this month and permanently put a stop to crime in their city, Philadelphians need to see beyond short-term statistics and recent headlines and place the blame where it belongs: with progressive Democrats like Larry Krasner and Kamala Harris trying to take credit for reducing crime rates that their radical policies caused to spike in the first place.

Opponents of school choice can’t be happy. The past three years have seen a flood of school-choice victories – and, ironically, we can thank two very “progressive” groups.
Two thirds of all states now have some form of private school-choice policies. Notably, 11 states have universal education choice, a policy no state had just three years ago. Even in states where school choice is still elusive, the dam is breaking. In Texas, opponents of education freedom were roundly defeated in the primaries this past spring.
What has transpired in these 36 months? As scholars who have closely studied and chronicled these developments, the only response we can give is that American parents rebelled against what happened four years ago.
So as people who fully welcome policies that liberate American families and leave them free to educate their children as they see fit, and not remain shackled to bad public schools set on indoctrinating their young children, we’d like to thank Black Lives Matter.

If it weren’t for all the damage they have inflicted on society, we would consider sending handwritten thank-you notes to founders Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and the rest.
Without the chaos and violence created in 2020 by the BLM organizations — founded by these Marxists with the express goal of achieving systemic-wide societal change — combined with the radical gender ideology infecting local schools, parents maybe have been slower to demand an escape hatch to let them opt out of the indoctrination meted out in public schools.
They did, and the progress speaks for itself.
Of course, we don’t want to leave out the teachers&#8217; unions. Bless them, they also did their part.
The shutdowns they demanded were the first instance of public schools breaking faith with families; failing to reopen their doors long after we knew it was safe for them to do so. In rapid succession, parents saw the second instance: emergency remote learning gave them a window into what their children were being taught, raising red flags in school board meetings across the country.
States responded, giving parents the ability to vote with their feet. And vote they did. The number of children exercising school choice – using a voucher, tax credit scholarship, or education savings account – has roughly doubled from the 2019 pre-pandemic level to nearly 1 million students.
Today, 19 states have Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) or ESA-style policies enabling families to choose schools and learning options that are right for their children. ESAs are accounts into which the state deposits a portion—usually 90 percent—of the money that would have been spent on a child in their district school.
The parents can use the money in the account to pay for private school tuition, online learning, special education services and therapies, tutoring, textbooks, and a host of other education-related services, products, and providers. And unused funds can be rolled over from year to year, and even rolled into a college savings account.
This year alone four states established ESA options: Wyoming, Louisiana, Alabama, and Georgia. Louisiana went all-in with universal ESAs, opening up eligibility to every family in the state, regardless of income.
In Texas, up until this year, state legislators who call themselves Republicans had stood in the way of school choice programs out of concern for what it might mean for the district public school.
Well, this year the Lone Star State had elections. Six out of eight incumbent Republican lawmakers who had stood in the way of school choice lost their primaries or the runoffs.
This was a big win for Gov. Greg Abbott, who made school choice a hill to die on, and now more than ever looks like a reality in the Lone Star State.
If Texas finally adopts school choice, some 40% of all kids in the country would be eligible to choose a school other than their assigned district school. At that point, we can reasonably say that Milton Friedman’s vision of breaking the public schooling monopoly – some 70 years in the making – has come to fruition.
Which brings us back to how we got here. Four years ago, this country was caught up in one of its biggest political convulsions in decades, after BLM manipulated the tragic death of George Floyd to carry out their plan. We had weeks of rioting, burning, and looting.
As if the physical damage didn’t take enough of a toll, the stewards of our cultural institutions — our schools and universities, our libraries and museums, our theaters and movie studios, everyone involved in industries that create meaning and content — then capitulated and accepted as facts a number of falsehoods they should have had the confidence to dismiss.
America is systemically racist; white supremacy is the operating system of our society; the founding of America took place in 1619, when a group of Africans arrived in Jamestown, not 1776, when America’s founders signed the Declaration of Independence. These and other fabrications were accepted as facts.
The idea was to stain and destroy the idea of America. Rather than being conceived in liberty, everyone was told to believe that ugly racism and oppression was the post-partum reality.
Then there were the sexual delusions. Among these were that a man could become a woman or vice versa, or that children could be born in the “wrong body.” America circa 2020 thus fell into what can only be described as a moment of mass hysteria.
These ideas swarmed into our classrooms and children began to be indoctrinated into these hallucinations. Their purveyors intentionally targeted our schools, fully cognizant of the fact that if you capture a generation of children, if you interrupt the transmission of culture and facts and you change the narrative, you have created a new hegemony.
This movement had the wind fully at its back in 2020. The world was going its way.
But then something happened: parents and grandparents, especially mothers and grandmothers, started to fight back, a counterrevolution that gathered force in early 2021. They organized, went to school board meetings, and voted. They demanded the freedom to opt out of the frenzy. School choice was the way out.
They put pressure on politicians in states like Texas. And they voted out recalcitrant politicians standing in their way.
If you ask us, that is the reason why education choice has met the success it has.

Several self-proclaimed non-citizens in the key battleground state of Arizona said that they are registered to vote in the November presidential election, with many saying that they support Vice President Kamala Harris over former President Donald Trump.
Video obtained by the Heritage Oversight Project documents six self-proclaimed non-citizens in Phoenix, Arizona, who say that they registered to vote while at work or at the supermarket, with multiple also explaining that they prefer Harris over Trump. Arizona, a key battleground state, was won by President Joe Biden by just 11,000 votes, indicating that razor-thin margins could once again decide who garners the state&#8217;s 11 electoral votes.
“Just out of curiosity, are you registered to vote?” an undercover journalist asks one woman residing at an apartment complex in Phoenix. “Yes we’re already registered,” she responds, before admitting moments later that she is not an American citizen.

Another resident at the Phoenix apartment complex says that he is “waiting for my residency right now” and not a citizen but that he registered to vote. The resident says he registered “in the place of assistance where they help the Hispanics when we come here. I marked yes so I could vote, but if you wish you could register me.” The non-citizen, who says that he is from Cuba, went on to say that he preferred Harris over Trump.
While some say that they registered to vote at work or at a supermarket, some of the noncitizens say that canvassers registered them to vote at their apartment complex. According to one resident, however, the complex primarily houses foreign nationals. “There’s not a single citizen here,” he explains.
The same non-citizen bemoans the increase in prices under the Biden-Harris administration and touts Trump as a businessman, but complains that “Trump says he’ll start deporting people on the first day” and says that he prefers Harris because she “is with the community.”
The video comes as conservatives have warned that illegal immigrants could vote in American elections, with some on the left mocking the concern as “<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/09/24/illegal-immigrants-voting/">the big lie of 2024</a>” or a “<a href="https://www.brennancenter.org/series/myth-noncitizen-voting">myth</a>.”
“It is obvious to me and other reasonable Americans that the left has decided that the only way they can maintain power is through illegal votes,” Mike Howell, Executive Director of the Heritage Foundation Oversight Project, told The Daily Wire. “If they have any interest in legitimacy, they need to immediately abandon this anti-American strategy.”
The video comes just after America First Legal announced that it was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/all-15-arizona-counties-sued-for-failing-to-remove-illegal-aliens-from-voter-rolls">suing all 15 Arizona counties</a>, alleging that they have refused to remove illegal aliens from their voter rolls. Virginia and Texas, meanwhile, have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/thousands-of-non-citizens-felons-removed-from-texas-voter-rolls">removed non-citizens</a> from their voter rolls.
Some leftist organizations are attempting to leverage mass immigration to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-soros-backed-organizations-leverage-waves-of-new-immigrants-to-sway-elections">alter the outcome of America’s elections</a>. One Daily Wire investigation revealed that leftwing nonprofits funded by Democrat mega-donor George Soros are working to naturalize non-citizens and mobilize them as voters. One such organization maintains demographic reports of key swing states and boasts that immigration could “sway the outcome of national, state, and local elections.”

Meanwhile, the Biden-Harris administration has presided over the most severe border crisis in American history. <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/2455010/illegal-border-crossers-total-over-10-million-since-biden-inauguration/">More than 10 million</a> people have crossed the border under the Biden-Harris administration, with an estimated <a href="https://cis.org/Arthur/Blockbuster-House-Report-Reveals-How-Badly-Bidens-Broken-Our-Immigration-System">1.7 million illegal immigrant gotaways recorded</a> since Biden was inaugurated in 2021. There were a total of 415,000 reported gotaways for 2018, 2019, and 2020 during the Trump administration.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) has about 22,000 foreign nationals in its custody, the Daily Wire has learned, and it appears that all of these prisoners are eligible for taxpayer-funded gender transitions.
The topic came up during last week&#8217;s debate, when former President Donald Trump highlighted Vice President Kamala Harris&#8217; support for taxpayer-funded gender transitions for incarcerated illegal immigrants, prompting the Harris campaign to suggest that Harris is <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trumps-transgender-operations-illegal-aliens-debate-claim/story?id=113584635">not currently proposing</a> the policy as part of her platform.
Asked about whether it would provide a gender transition surgery for an illegal immigrant, however, a spokeswoman for the federal prison system, Emery Nelson, said the Bureau under Harris is &#8220;committed to providing all incarcerated individuals a safe and humane environment, including providing gender-affirming housing and medical care as appropriate.&#8221;
The FBOP would not share how many federal prisoners have requested trans procedures.
&#8220;There have been two individuals who have undergone gender-affirming surgery while in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons,&#8221; spokesman Donald Murphy told The Daily Wire, asked whether any illegal immigrants have undergone taxpayer-funded transgender surgeries. The Bureau said that &#8220;privacy, safety, and security reasons&#8221; were what restricted it from answering questions about how many prisoners have requested trans procedures.
The two individuals referenced appear to be two men who now identify as transgender women: <a href="https://19thnews.org/2023/03/bureau-of-prisons-gender-affirming-surgery-incarcerated-trans-people/">Donna Langan</a> (also known as Peter Kevin Langan) and <a href="https://www.aclu-il.org/en/press-releases/federal-bureau-prisons-provides-gender-affirming-surgery-amid-historic-legal-victory">Cristina Nichole Iglesia</a> (also known as Cristian Noel Iglesias <a href="https://4w.pub/anthrax-terror-inmate-trans/">and</a> Kenneth R. West), who both received taxpayer funded gender transitions. Iglesia has since been released from prison, but Langan, a neo-Nazi <a href="https://m.ktvl.com/news/nation-world/bureau-of-prisons-expedites-gender-transition-surgery-ex-neo-nazi-bank-robber-oklahoma-city-bombing#">accused of robbing 22 banks</a> during a two year window, is serving a life sentence in a federal prison in Texas.
As of September 5, there are a total of 158,525 federal inmates, <a href="https://www.bop.gov/about/statistics/population_statistics.jsp">according to the FBOP,</a> meaning that foreign nationals currently make up about 13.9% of federal inmates. The largest chunk, 12,339, or about 7.9%, are from Mexico

FBOP data and documents indicate that these taxpayer-funded surgeries for illegal immigrants could already be in progress — and the procedures available to trans-identifying inmates include over-the-counter laser hair removal devices, breast implants, the &#8220;removal of all of or part of the penis,&#8221; the &#8220;surgical creation of a clitoris,&#8221; &#8220;removal of one or both testicles,&#8221; and more.
FBOP&#8217;s 2023 clinical guidance on &#8220;Gender-Affirming Care of Transgender and Gender Nonbinary Persons,&#8221; obtained by the Heritage Foundation&#8217;s Oversight Project and shared with The Daily Wire, makes clear that any prisoner who self-identifies as transgender or gender nonbinary to an FBOP staff member will then be referred to a mental health professional or medical provider.
That mental health professional completes an assessment, documents the inmate&#8217;s gender dysphoria or lack thereof, and initiates the &#8220;gender-affirming live experiences within the prison system.&#8221; The inmate will then meet with a medical provider and can then initiate hormone treatments.
After this, the inmate can request &#8220;further gender affirmation&#8221; by living in an institution that matches his or her gender identity: for example, a male inmate who identifies as a transgender woman can request to be transferred to a female prison.
The prison&#8217;s warden will request an administrative review by the FBOP Transgender Executive Council (TEC), and if approved, the inmate will be transferred to that institution aligning with their gender-identity.
After 12 months of living in that institution, or 12 months of living in his or her original institution, the inmate can request &#8220;lesser&#8221; or non-invasive procedures or full-on invasive gender procedures. This request also has to be reviewed by the TEC. If the inmate meets the proper criteria, and the BOP Medical Director approves, the inmate can then undergo surgery.
“Illegal aliens should be deported, not de-genitaled in prison,&#8221; the Oversight Project&#8217;s Executive Director, Mike Howell, told The Daily Wire. &#8220;It sounds crazy to say but the Harris-Biden Administration has a really highly structured policy and process for transgendering federal prisoners, including illegal aliens.  They&#8217;re not just doing the basics, they&#8217;re giving them the extras like facial hair removal.&#8221;
&#8220;It will make it harder to locate and deport an illegal who has been transgendered after they&#8217;re released from prison,&#8221; Howell added. &#8220;They&#8217;ll have a whole new identity and look.”

Among the &#8220;minimally invasive and non-invasive gender-affirming&#8221; treatments offered by the FBOP are voice and communication training (to make an inmate&#8217;s voice sound less masculine or feminine), professional laser facial hair removal (for men who are attempting to transition to women), and &#8220;chondrolaryngoplasty,&#8221; which is tracheal shaving.
&#8220;Less invasive or minor surgical procedures may be deemed medically necessary and considered on a case-by-case basis,&#8221; the 2023 clinical guidance says, citing activist claims that trans-identifying adults are at great risk of suicide if they cannot undergo gender transitions.
The guidance also describes more invasive procedures for trans-identifying inmates who &#8220;have been compliant with all aspects of gender affirming care.&#8221; These transgender surgeries, which the BOP calls &#8220;gender confirming surgery,&#8221; may even be considered &#8220;medically necessary and is considered on a case-by-case basis.&#8221;
Male inmates who want to try to become women can undergo a number of feminizing surgical procedures, including breast augmentation, a clitoroplasty (the creation of a fake clitoris), a labiaplasty (the creation of a fake labia around the fake vagina), a penectomy (the removal of all or part of the penis), and orchiectomy (the removal of one or both testicles).
Female inmates who want to attempt a transition to become a man can undergo masculinizing surgical procedures, such as a bilateral mastectomy, male chest contouring, a hysterectomy, an ovariectomy (the removal of ovaries), a salpingo-oophorectomy (the removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes), a penile prosthesis (wherein an &#8220;erectile prosthetic device is placed to allow for an erection&#8221;), a phalloplasty (the creation of a fake penis, which can involve a number of surgeries), a scrotoplasty (the creation of a fake scrotum) and more.
Discussing intake screening, the guidance cites the &#8220;Prison Rape Elimination Act&#8221; as it states that individuals &#8220;may not be disciplined for refusing to disclose&#8221; whether they identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, or gender nonconforming, and staff cannot search or physically examine inmates for the &#8220;sole purpose of determining the inmate&#8217;s genital status.&#8221;
It also discusses medical conditions that require increased monitoring with testosterone therapy. If, for example, a woman who identifies as a transgender man is pregnant or breastfeeding, she should be monitored as she takes high dosages of testosterone in her attempts to become a man.
The FBOP figures do not include inmates incarcerated at state correctional facilities, where it is <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2024/02/26/exclusive-female-inmate-forced-to-bunk-with-masturbating-transgender-prisoner-who-raped-daughter-messages-claim/">already known</a> that hundreds of prisoners are self-reporting as transgender, requesting transfers to facilities correlating with their gender identity, and in some cases, actually obtaining transgender surgeries and interventions.
Mark Campbell, a registered sex offender <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2023/09/21/confirmed-man-who-raped-10-year-old-daughter-housed-female-prison-inmates/">who raped his own daughter,</a> is currently housed in a prison for women — Taycheedah Correctional Institution in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin — where he has <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2024/02/26/exclusive-female-inmate-forced-to-bunk-with-masturbating-transgender-prisoner-who-raped-daughter-messages-claim/">reportedly</a> undergone a gender transition. Jason Michael Hann, who now goes by Jessica Hann and underwent taxpayer-funded gender transition, <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2021/04/08/california-transgender-prison-inmate-jessica-hann/">is housed</a> on death row at Central California Women&#8217;s Facility for murdering his two children.

Former Secret Service agent <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/dan-bongino" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dan Bongino</a> ripped into the federal law enforcement agency over the &#8220;apocalyptic security failure&#8221; that ultimately resulted in the July 13th assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump.
Bongino took part in a panel discussion, hosted by The Heritage Foundation, alongside several Republican Congressmen — Reps. Eli Crane (R-AZ), Chip Roy (R-TX), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), and Cory Mills (R-FL) — and he argued that it was &#8220;disgusting&#8221; the Trump&#8217;s would-be assassin was able to come as close as he did to succeeding in killing a former president.

Bongino went on to make it clear that it was not his intent to disparage the men and women who served in the United States Secret Service every day, putting their lives on the line. The real problems, he said, were institutional.
&#8220;They have a technology problem,&#8221; he explained, saying that the joke — which was no longer funny — was that the agency &#8220;relies on the technology of yesterday, tomorrow.&#8221;
The Secret Service&#8217;s aim to &#8220;do more with less&#8221; had also failed, he argued, saying, &#8220;A 20-year-old criminal outsmarted them on a $40 drone &#8230; You&#8217;re telling me that&#8217;s &#8216;more with less&#8217;? &#8220;Under Paul Dans’ leadership, Project 2025 has completed exactly what it set out to do: bringing together over 110 leading conservative organizations to create a unified conservative vision, motivated to devolve power from the unelected administrative state, and returning it to the people,&#8221; said Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts. &#8220;This tool was built for any future administration to use.&#8221;
Roberts said that Dans built the project from scratch over a period of two years and that the plan was always to have the final version of the project completed after the Republicans and Democrats each held their respective conventions this summer.
Roberts said that Dans &#8220;will be departing the team and moving up to the front where the fight remains&#8221; and that the organization was &#8220;extremely grateful for his and everyone&#8217;s work on Project 2025 and dedication to saving America.&#8221;
&#8220;Project 2025 will continue our efforts to build a personnel apparatus for policymakers of all levels—federal, state, and local,&#8221; Roberts concluded. &#8220;I look forward to leading this team to continued success.&#8221;

Democrats have falsely tied Trump to the project, even though Trump has repeatedly disavowed it, and have used it as a cudgel against his campaign.
&#8220;President Trump&#8217;s campaign has been very clear for over a year that Project 2025 had nothing to do with the campaign, did not speak for the campaign, and should not be associated with the campaign or the President in any way,&#8221; Trump campaign managers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita said in a statement.
&#8220;Reports of Project 2025&#8217;s demise would be greatly welcomed and should serve as notice to anyone or any group trying to misrepresent their influence with President Trump and his campaign &#8212; it will not end well for you,&#8221; the statement concluded.

Former President Donald Trump once again addressed the proposed transition policies in the Heritage Foundation&#8217;s &#8220;Project 2025,&#8221; saying in a social media post on Wednesday night that Democrats are trying to deceptively &#8220;hook&#8221; him with those proposals.
Democrats, including President Joe Biden and his campaign, have focused on drawing attention to &#8220;Project 2025&#8221; and attempting to use it to paint Trump and Republicans as extremists. Trump, however, has <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/112765952710871414">distanced himself</a> from the project multiple times in the past week.
&#8220;I know nothing about Project 2025. I have not seen it, have no idea who is in charge of it, and, unlike our very well received Republican Platform, had nothing to do with it,&#8221; Trump wrote on Wednesday. &#8220;The Radical Left Democrats are having a field day, however, trying to hook me into whatever policies are stated or said. It is pure disinformation on their part. By now, after all of these years, everyone knows where I stand on EVERYTHING! DJT.&#8221;
Biden has repeatedly condemned Project 2025 as a campaign strategy against Trump.

&#8220;Google Project 2025,&#8221; Biden <a href="https://x.com/JoeBiden/status/1810713053886890161" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> on Tuesday.
Biden&#8217;s team also <a href="https://joebiden.com/project2025/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published</a> a fact sheet on Project 2025, claiming that it &#8220;is the plan by Donald Trump’s MAGA Republican allies to give Trump more power over your daily life, gut democratic checks and balances, and consolidate power in the Oval Office if he wins.&#8221;
Other Democrats have also focused on Project 2025 recently, including Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), who was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ben-shapiro-wrecks-eric-swalwell-after-dem-congressman-tries-to-derail-hearing?topStoryPosition=5" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blasted</a> by Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro on Wednesday after bringing up the proposed policies during a Judiciary Committee hearing that featured Shapiro&#8217;s testimony on an alleged conspiracy to silence conservative media outlets.
&#8220;I think it is important that you’re here as one of the leading conservative voices in the country,” Swalwell said. “And the country in the last couple of weeks has talked about, googled Project 2025 … and you’re not going to get any censorship from me, so I just wanted to know from your perspective, I think it would help us understand, on just like a scale of 0-100 percent, how much do you support Project 2025?”
“I think like President Trump, I haven’t looked all that deeply at Project 2025,” Shapiro replied. “But it seems that Democrats on this committee [think that] — sort of like Peter Pan and Tinkerbell — if they say Project 2025 enough, their presidential candidate becomes alive again.”
The draft of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gop-releases-2024-platform-ahead-of-convention-a-return-to-common-sense" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2024 GOP platform</a> touted by Trump was released earlier this week. It focuses on securing the border, deporting illegal immigrants, and ending inflation, among other priorities. Hardline conservatives have voiced frustration with the new platform&#8217;s watered-down stances on abortion and same-sex marriage.
The 2024 GOP platform doesn&#8217;t commit to pursuing any federal laws on abortion, instead saying the issue is best addressed by the states. In a change from its 2016 platform, the new GOP platform also does not address same-sex marriage but does weigh in on gender issues, such as protecting women&#8217;s sports and opposing &#8220;left-wing gender insanity.&#8221; Republicans did not update the party platform in 2020.

Trump Again Addresses 'Project 2025,' Says Dems Are Engaging In 'Pure Disinformation'

Some July 4th traditions endure better than others. We’ll always have fireworks, parades, and family picnics, it seems. But there was also a time when presidents offered eloquent speeches on America’s birthday — ones aimed at fostering unity and gratitude. And who can deny we could use more of that in such fractious times?
Sure, few of us would clamor for another presidential speech. But in an age where we’re losing a sense of who we are and the significance of our heritage, it’s a tradition worth renewing, especially with our 250th anniversary on the horizon.
<a href="https://www.vindicatingthefounders.com/library/electric-cord-speech.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Both Abraham Lincoln</a> and <a href="https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/address-the-celebration-the-150th-anniversary-the-declaration-independence-philadelphia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Calvin Coolidge delivered</a> particularly notable July 4th speeches. In his opening, Coolidge noted that, “It is to pay our tribute of reverence and respect to those who participated in such a mighty event that we annually observe the fourth day of July.” The event, of course, was the birth of a new nation.
It’s all too easy to forget the remarkableness of the deeds done, the selflessness of the risks taken, and the magnitude of the accomplishments of our Founding Fathers. General George Washington defeated the most formidable military in the world. The Constitution was the “miracle of Philadelphia,” and remains the oldest written constitution in existence. Such undertakings were assumed for the benefit of not only those first Americans, but their posterity.
The issuance of the Declaration of Independence was still more noteworthy. As Coolidge explained, “It was not because it was proposed to establish a new nation, but because it was proposed to establish a nation on new principles, that July 4, 1776, has come to be regarded as one of the greatest days in history.” The Declaration put forth the revolutionary idea that no human being is born to rule over others absent their consent. That idea makes each American the fortunate inheritor of a unique trust: a nation committed to self-government.

That trust establishes a connective chain of gratitude and obligation for the American people today. The Founding generation launched the experiment. The current generation has the task of continuing it by governing themselves, assuming their duties and respecting the rights of others, in equal measure. Without an appreciation of their heritage, we can’t expect them to remain galvanized to maintain a life of freedom for their children.
Such reflections serve to inspire, just as they humble. Contemporary Americans are the posterity, but not the singular source, of America’s material blessings. From the Founding to Lincoln’s time, America had grown in size, population, and wealth. It was the “iron men” who fought for the principles of America, who enabled the “degree of prosperity that we now enjoy.” The Founders established a commercial republic, respectful of property rights and disdainful of class distinctions, that unleashed American ingenuity, entrepreneurship, and mobility.
Both Lincoln and Coolidge believed such enterprise could ultimately be traced to the Declaration of Independence. It is the principle of human equality that eliminates fixed social status and gives individuals the right to eat the bread that their own hands earn, <a href="https://mason.gmu.edu/~zschrag/hist120spring05/lincoln_ottawa.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">as Lincoln explained</a>.
In turn, Coolidge contended that, “The things of the spirit come first.” He warned that, unless Americans cling to the Declaration, “all our material prosperity, overwhelming though it may appear, will turn to a barren scepter in our grasp.” Material pursuits, when not bound by eternal and immutable principles, become destructive. Self-reliance degrades to autonomy, greed, and consumerism. Profound abundance, absent the transcendent and sacrificial, ushers in a crisis of purpose and meaning. Coolidge’s words portend our time.
Fortunately, Coolidge also provided a path forward. Examinations of the past serve to underscore the unifying work that went into the Declaration and offer hope for renewed consensus. The Declaration was not an exegesis of privileged, select statesmen but “the result of the seasoned and deliberate thought of the dominant portion of the people of the Colonies.”

Ideas about inherent natural rights and equality were put forth in the Virginia Declaration of Rights, penned by George Mason, prior to the Declaration of Independence. The recognition that “all men are created equal” was made accessible by the Judeo-Christian tenet that all are equal in the eyes of God. And influential religious leaders like Rev. Thomas Hooker preached to the approximately <a href="https://www.amazon.com/STILL-HOLD-THESE-TRUTHS-Rediscovering/dp/1935191926" target="_blank" rel="noopener">70-80% of colonial Americans</a> who attended church that, <a href="https://connecticuthistory.org/the-free-consent-of-the-people-thomas-hooker-and-the-fundamental-orders/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“The foundation of authority is laid in the free consent of the people.”</a>
Both Coolidge and Lincoln believed American unity resides in the Declaration. For his part, Lincoln believed that the principle “all men are created equal” establishes a common moral sentiment. It is the right of every American to “claim it as though they were blood of the blood, and flesh of the flesh of the men who wrote that Declaration.” For so we are.
That is the electric cord in that Declaration that links the hearts of patriotic and liberty-loving men together, that will link those patriotic hearts as long as the love of freedom exists in the minds of men throughout the world.
It is fidelity to a set of principles, rather than exclusive religions or ethnicities, that defines Americans.
Matching Lincoln, Coolidge <a href="https://coolidgefoundation.org/events/virtual-event-inspiration-of-the-declaration/#:~:text=In%20the%20speech%2C%20titled%20%E2%80%9CThe,created%20equal%2C%20that%20is%20final." target="_blank" rel="noopener">contended</a> that:
<blockquote>About the Declaration there is a finality that is exceedingly restful … If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final.</blockquote>
Americans can find contentment, solitude, and pride in the resilient principles of the Declaration of Independence and the connectivity they offer.
In Fourth of Julys gone by, Abraham Lincoln and Calvin Coolidge delivered two speeches worthy of Americans’ lasting consideration. Who will be the next statesman to do so? It may be some time, as such genius is difficult to match. Yet perhaps it is not so essential that presidents today echo their masterful words. What matters most is that we Americans believe them ourselves.
