Gold medalist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/simone-biles-to-return-to-competition-one-year-ahead-of-paris-olympics">Simone Biles</a> did more than hint that her time competing in the Olympics is over in a new interview and suggested she would not return for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
The 27-year-old gymnast &#8212; who was recently named <a href="https://www.si.com/sportsperson/simone-biles-sports-illustrated-2024-sportsperson-of-the-year">Sports Illustrated</a> magazine&#8217;s 2024 Sportsperson of the Year &#8212; told the outlet that she’s come to a point in her career where it would be greedy if she continued reaching for the gold in the 2028 games.
&#8220;Life and death issue,&#8221; Biles replied. &#8220;Because I’ve accomplished so much, there’s almost nothing left to do, rather than to just be snobby and to try again and for what? I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done.”
“If you go back, you’ll be greedy,” she added. “Those are the consequences. But that’s also your decision to decide. What sacrifices would be made if I go back now?”

Biles &#8212; who won four golds in the Paris Summer Olympics, adding to her total of 7 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze to become the most decorated American gymnast of all time &#8212; suggested she’s ready to focus on motherhood after tying the knot in 2023 to Chicago Bears football player Jonathan Owens.
“When you’re younger, it’s like, prom, college. Now it’s like, starting a family, being away from my husband. What’s really worth it?” Biles said.
“I don’t think the reality has set in of what I’ve exactly done in the sport,” she added. &#8220;I can see it, and I hear it from people, and I see a glimpse of it, but the full magnitude I don’t think I’ve realized just yet.”
“I don’t think I’ll realize ’til maybe I retire and look back in a couple years like, ‘Damn, she was good,’” the Olympic star continued. “Because I can see that, but I do it every day. So for me, it’s normal.”

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/usa-gymnastics-challenges-demand-for-jordan-chiles-to-return-bronze-medal-says-it-has-receipts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">United States Olympic gymnast</a> Jordan Chiles has been told that she must return the bronze medal she received at the Paris Olympics following her women’s floor exercise.
On Monday, a statement from USA Gymnastics said that they will continue to fight for Chiles to keep her medal, but that its appeal was “denied by a Court of Arbitration,” the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/jordan-chiles-bronze-medal-ana-barbosu-b982ecfff1e846c57b0e1cb524a84cad">Associated Press</a> reported.
“USA Gymnastics was notified by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Monday that their rules do not allow for an arbitral award to be reconsidered even when conclusive new evidence is presented,” USA Gymnastics said in a statement.
“We are deeply disappointed by the notification and will continue to pursue every possible avenue and appeal process, including to the Swiss Federal Tribunal, to ensure the just scoring, placement, and medal award for Jordan,” the statement added.
Chiles performed in Paris and initially she received a score for her floor exercise of 13.666, putting her in fifth place behind Romanian gymnasts Ana Barbosu and Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, who both had final scores of 13.700, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/usa-gymnastics-challenges-demand-for-jordan-chiles-to-return-bronze-medal-says-it-has-receipts">reported</a>.
The USA coach Cecile Landi argued that the judges had inaccurately assessed the difficulty level of the routine, and they agreed, bumping Chiles&#8217; score up to 13.766. This put her in 3rd place ahead of the Romanian gymnasts and earning her a Bronze medal.

However, Romania disputed the ruling, saying the American team’s complaint wasn’t submitted within the 60-second window that was required. On Sunday, the IOC [International Olympics Committee] announced its decision to strip Chiles of her bronze medal and give it to Barbosu.

It also noted that the “time-stamped, video evidence” was “not available to USA Gymnastics prior to the tribunal’s decision and thus USAG did not have the opportunity to previously submit it.&#8221;
The letter requested that the “ruling be revised and Chiles’ bronze-medal score of 13.766 reinstated.”
USA Gymnastics could try to appeal to the Swiss Tribunal or the European Court of Human Rights, the AP noted.
Chiles has remained mostly quiet on the controversy, <a href="https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/jordan-chiles-olympics-social-media-b2594527.html">telling</a> her Instagram followers on Sunday, “I am taking this time and removing myself from social media for my mental health, thank you.”

USA <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/gymnastics">Gymnastics</a> is contesting the International Olympic Committee&#8217;s (<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/olympics" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IOC</a>) decision to have Jordan Chiles return the bronze medal she was awarded last week at the Paris Games, and it has provided receipts to back up its challenge.
&#8220;USA Gymnastics on Sunday formally submitted a letter and video evidence to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, conclusively establishing that Head Coach Cecile Landi’s request to file an inquiry was submitted 47 seconds after the publishing of the score, within the 1-minute deadline required by FIG rule,&#8221; USA Gymnastics, the national governing body for the sport, said in a <a href="https://usagym.org/usa-gymnastics-submits-additional-evidence-to-court-of-arbitration-for-sport/">statement</a>.

The gymnastics results have been mired in controversy after Chiles first took fifth place, earning her a score of 13.666 in the women&#8217;s floor exercise final. Her coach, Cecile Landi, argued that the judges had inaccurately assessed the difficulty level of the routine, which led to her score being adjusted to 13.766. This was enough to bump her into third place ahead of Romanian gymnasts Ana Barbosu and Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, who both had final scores of 13.700.
But then Romania’s Olympic committee disputed the ruling, saying the American team’s complaint wasn’t submitted within the 60-second window that was required. On Sunday, the IOC announced its decision to strip Chiles of her bronze medal and give it to Barbosu.
This announcement set off a firestorm of backlash on social media from critics insisting the decision was unfair and racist.

Former Olympic gymnast MyKayla Skinner — and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/simone-biles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Simone Biles’</a> former teammate — issued a plea to the Olympic Gold medalist to make the death threats against her family and cyber-bullying stop.
Skinner faced a backlash after she posted a video in June on YouTube <a href="https://abc7news.com/post/mykayla-skinner-calls-simone-biles-put-stop-cyberbullying-after-viral-olympic-post/15154016/#:~:text=The%20public%20controversy%20around%20Skinner's,response%20to%20Skinner's%20earlier%20remarks." target="_blank" rel="noopener">during the gymnastic Olympic trials</a> in which she talked about how she felt work ethics have changed among gymnasts, not counting Biles, the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/mykayla-skinner-asks-simone-biles-stop-cyberbullying-olympics-1235967818/">Hollywood Reporter</a> reported. 
“Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn’t what it used to be,” Skinner said, at the time. “I mean, obviously, a lot of girls just don’t work as hard. The girls just don’t have the work ethic.” 
The Olympics started July 26th and on July 31st Biles appeared to send a cryptic message to her former teammate, writing on social media, “Lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions,” in the caption next to a photo of the U.S. Team celebrating its victory after getting the gold.
On Tuesday, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C-VTyXsJFp6/">Skinner</a> pleaded with Biles to get her followers to stop making hateful comments and threats to her, her husband, and their 10-month-old daughter.

“Watching people cheer on the bullying — which has led to threats of physical harm to me my husband and our daughter — is disgusting,” she added. “So please at this point, I’m just asking for it to stop for the sake of my family because enough is enough.”
Skinner noted that she <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C9GKeblSLPT/">apologized</a> for her past comments on July 6 and personally reached out to her former teammates amid the backlash, noting that Biles was the only person who responded to her, saying that she was proud of her. The former gymnast said when Biles made the post it came as a “surprise” to her. 
“If Simone truly believes that I called our team lazy and lacking talent and if that’s really how she feels, I am really heartbroken over it,” the former gymnast said. “But not just heartbroken because it isn’t what I feel or even how I previously said, but because Simone’s latest post and others that followed it fueled another wave of hateful comments, DMs, articles and emails.
“Hate that includes death threats to me, my family, and even my agent,” she added.”My family and my friends don’t deserve to be caught in the crossfire here. They’ve done nothing.”
She concluded her post pleading with Biles to “please put a stop to this. Please ask your followers to stop.”
“You have been an incredible champion for mental health awareness and a lot of people need your help now,” Skinner said.  “We’ve been attacked in ways that I’m certain you never intended. Your performance, the team’s performance and the Olympics in general should be a time that we support one another.”

In a post earlier this month, Kelley&#8217;s sister, Shayla Kelley Schrepfer, shared that the former gymnast had a &#8220;scary setback&#8221; and was still in the ICU dealing with pneumonia. It came days after she shared that Retton was &#8220;getting stronger.&#8221;
&#8220;Mom&#8217;s progress is truly remarkable,&#8221; the message on social media read. &#8220;Prayers have been felt and have been answered. Although she remains in the ICU, her path to recovery is steadily unfolding. Her fighting spirit is truly shining. Olympic gold medalist Mary Lou Retton’s daughter, McKenna Kelley, revealed that her mom is &#8220;fighting for her life&#8221; amid a battle with pneumonia — and doesn&#8217;t currently have health insurance.
The daughter of the famous 55-year-old gymnast said on behalf of her and her sisters they need prayers and help because her mom is currently in an Intensive Care Unit [ICU] where she&#8217;s been dealing with a &#8220;rare form of pneumonia&#8221; — and they don&#8217;t have the financial means to cover the hospital costs.

The fundraiser was set with a goal of $50,000 and has already well surpassed that, with the fundraiser at $272,431 at the time of this publication. More than 4,000 donors have given to the fund for the Olympic-winning gymnast who stole America&#8217;s heart in the 1980s.

Seven-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles is planning to return to elite competition for the first time since she bowed out of the 2020 Tokyo Games, which were held in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Biles stepped away from competition, citing concerns over her mental health, and has not competed. USA Gymnastics confirmed the <a href="https://www.axios.com/2023/06/28/simone-biles-return-gymnastics-us-classic?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=editorial" target="_blank" rel="noopener">news</a> on Wednesday, announcing that Biles would be entered into the women&#8217;s field for the U.S. Classic, which is scheduled to take place on August 4-5 at Chicago&#8217;s NOW Arena.
Several of Biles&#8217; teammates from Tokyo will also be entered in Chicago, including Tokyo all-around champion Sunisa Lee – who took home two gold medals from the 2020 Games. Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles, who also competed in Tokyo, are slated to compete as well.

&#8220;Simone has withdrawn from the team final competition due to a medical issue,&#8221; U.S.A. Two <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/fbi">ex-FBI agents</a> accused of botching the sex-abuse case against former <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/larry-nassar">USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar</a>, who molested girls on the team, will not be charged, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said Thursday.
Following a “careful re-review of evidence,” the department declined to charged the former agents, who are accused of lying about their work on the case. The former agents were being probed in the wake of gripping testimony last year from gymnastics superstar Simone Biles and several of her teammates who were victimized by Nassar even though he had been reported to the FBI.
“This does not in any way reflect a view that the investigation of Nassar was handled as it should have been, nor in any way reflects approval or disregard of the conduct of the former agents,” the DOJ said in a statement.

Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco ordered a review after several gymnasts gave tearful testimony to the House Judiciary Committee last September. The described the abuse they suffered under Nassar, the now-58-year-old doctor from Michigan State University who is in prison for life for possession of child pornography and molesting at least 10 underage girls. Prosecutors suspect he sexually assaulted hundreds of girls under the guise of rendering medical treatment.
DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz found that the former FBI agents, a supervisor and his subordinate, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/fbi-nassar-investigation-failures/2021/07/14/ebc37274-e4c4-11eb-8aa5-5662858b696e_story.html?itid=lk_inline_manual_3&amp;itid=lk_inline_manual_8">lied to internal investigators</a> to cover up their failure to investigate credible claims made against Nassar in 2015. That failure allowed Nassar to continue to victimize young girls. One of the agents, W. Jay Abbott, retired and the other, Michael Langeman, was fired last year.
The Justice Department said it will “continue to learn from what occurred in this matter, and undertake efforts to keep victims at the center of our work and to ensure that they are heard, respected, and treated fairly throughout the process, as they deserve,” and said it wanted to work with Congress to address unspecified gaps in the law to “help prevent events like this from taking place in the future and hold perpetrators accountable.”
Simone Biles and three other high-profile gymnasts <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/gymnasts-nassar-fbi-investigation-hearing/2021/09/14/de4832cc-159f-11ec-9589-31ac3173c2e5_story.html?itid=lk_inline_manual_9&amp;itid=lk_inline_manual_14">gave emotional testimony </a>to the Judiciary Committee last year about Nassar’s abuse and the FBI’s failure to act.
“I blame Larry Nassar, and I also blame an entire system that enabled and perpetrated his abuse,” Biles told lawmakers.

The IG report did not name Langeman, but found that he lied “in an effort to minimize or excuse his errors.”

Lawyers representing 13 women plan on suing the FBI for $130 million — $10 million for each individual — alleging that a “bungled investigation” by FBI agents led to additional abuse from former USA Gymnastics and Michigan State team doctor Larry Nassar.
&#8220;This was not a case involving fake 20 dollar bills or tax cheats,&#8221; attorney Jamie White <a href="https://www.espn.com/olympics/gymnastics/story/_/id/33778847/thirteen-larry-nassar-victims-seeking-130m-fbi-bungled-investigation">said</a>. &#8220;These were allegations of a serial rapist who was known to the FBI as the Olympic U.S. doctor with unfettered access to young women.&#8221;
According to <a href="https://www.espn.com/olympics/gymnastics/story/_/id/33778847/thirteen-larry-nassar-victims-seeking-130m-fbi-bungled-investigation">ESPN</a>, the women are not suing yet, but the FBI has six months to reply to the tort claim.
In September, gymnasts Simone Biles, Maggie Nichols, Aly Raisman, and McKayla Maroney shocked Congress, revealing details of the sexual abuse they suffered at the hands of Nassar and blistering the FBI, which they say failed to act on repeated reports by American gymnasts, and may have even covered up evidence of an abusive system.
The hearing came days after FBI agent Michael Langeman was fired after failing to pursue an investigation into the gymnasts’ claims.
In July, the Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General released a report criticizing Langeman — unnamed at the time — and his boss Jay Abbott for their handling of the Nassar case.
In 2015, Langeman interviewed Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney regarding her allegations that Nassar abused her. The report by the inspector general states that Langeman and Abbott never “officially opened an investigation” and lied to investigators about their actions. The report states that Abbott — who is retired — told the FBI to release false statements in 2017 <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/14/politics/justice-department-investigation-report-nassar/index.html">saying</a> that his office “expeditiously responded” to the allegations against Nassar.
Raisman said that it took over fourteen months for FBI agents to contact her after her report to USAG [USA Gymnastics] in June 2015 that Nassar abused her and that Nassar continued to sexually assault dozens of young women and girls during that time.
“From July 2015, when the allegations were first reported to the FBI, to September 2016, Nassar continued to treat gymnasts at Michigan State University, a high school in Michigan, and a gymnastics club in Michigan,” the report <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/watchdog-report-blasts-fbi-fundamental-errors-gymnastics-sex-abuse-investigation-n1273987">said</a>. “Ultimately the investigations determined that Nassar had engaged in sexual assaults of over 100 victims and possessed thousands of images of child pornography, led to his convictions in federal and state court, and resulted in Nassar being sentenced to incarceration for over 100 years.”
FBI Director Christopher Wray apologized in his September opening statements for the FBI’s failure to stop Nassar.
“I’m deeply and profoundly sorry to each and every one of you,” Wray <a href="https://news.yahoo.com/fbi-director-wray-nassar-monster-gymnasts-biles-maroney-hearing-174019967.html">said</a> in his opening statement. “I’m sorry for what you and your families have been through. I’m sorry so many people let you down over and over again. And I’m especially sorry there were people at the FBI who had their own chance to stop this monster back in 2015 and failed, and that is inexcusable. It never should have happened, and we’re doing everything in our power to make sure it never happens again.”
In December, victims of Nassar reached one of the largest settlements for sex abuse ever recorded.
“USA Gymnastics, U.S. Olympic &amp; Paralympic Committee and their insurers have agreed to fund a $380 million settlement with victims of longtime national team physician Larry Nassar, drawing to a close a five-year legal battle that has upended American Olympic sports governance,” The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/nassar-victims-reach-380-million-settlement-with-usa-gymnastics-and-u-s-olympic-and-paralympic-committee-11639406377">reported</a>.
The settlement also included non-monetary provisions, “including requirements for self-identified survivors of abuse in gymnastics to have official roles in USA Gymnastics.”
