Green Bay Packers legend and Super Bowl winner Clay Matthews delivered a &#8220;message&#8221; he joked came from President Donald Trump aimed at rival Chicago Bears on Thursday night during the opening night of the NFL Draft.
Ahead of the first pick of the draft, Matthews, who played linebacker for the Packers for 10 seasons, took to the podium at the draft in Green Bay in front of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to take a well-timed shot at the Bears.
&#8220;I&#8217;m gonna go off script here real quick &#8230; Roger,&#8221; Matthews said, flanked by other former Packers greats up on stage. &#8220;I just got off the phone with the president, Donald Trump. He asked me to pass a message along to all 32 NFL franchises. Let me tell you what it reads here, alright.&#8221;
&#8220;It says, &#8216;My fellow Americans, the Bears still suck!'&#8221; Matthews chanted into the microphone to the cheering crowd.

Matthews made the comments as he was surrounded by other former Packers like Jordy Nelson, Mason Crosby, Ahman Green, and James Jones. Earlier in the night, the former Packers linebacker had biked out onto the stage alongside Goodell, mimicking a Packer tradition where players ride young fans&#8217; bikes during training camp.

As a Packer, Matthews went 16-3 against the Bears as he played from 2009-2018 during the Aaron Rodgers era. In 2011, Matthews and the Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl 31-25. In that game, Matthews forced a fumble in the fourth quarter that proved to be a critical turning point.
Other Packer legends have developed a close association with Trump in recent years. Three time MVP and Super Bowl winner Brett Favre <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/packers-legend-brett-favre-rallies-for-trump-time-to-bench-kamala" target="_blank" rel="noopener">was outspoken</a> about his support for Trump during the 2024 presidential election. The former quarterback even appeared at an event in Green Bay days before the election to rally support for Trump.

NFL clubs could be making three possible new rule changes for the upcoming season when the owners convene for their annual league meeting starting on March 30.
In several posts on <a href="https://x.com/NFLFootballOps/status/1902379885584380247">X</a> from the NFL Football Operations account, the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, and Philadelphia Eagles have proposed changes to rules — with at least two of them having the potential to dramatically change the game.
The first is ending the so-called “tush push” rule which is a modified version of the quarterback sneak that the Eagles made popular during the 2022 season.  The rule change, proposed by the Packers, “would prohibit an offensive player from pushing a teammate who was lined up directly behind the snapper and receives the snap, immediately at the snap.&#8221; 
While the change doesn’t include the term “tush push” that is exactly what the rule would affect, <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/article/packers-proposal-to-eliminate-tush-push-among-three-rule-changes-nfl-will-consider-for-2025-season-165729175.html">Yahoo</a> noted.
The Philadelphia Eagles have used the play more successfully than any other team and it is no surprise that an NFC team has proposed to end it after the Eagles became Super Bowl LIX champions.

The <a href="https://x.com/NFLFootballOps/status/1902379909135360049">second rule</a>, proposed by the Lions, would “eliminate an automatic first down” as a “penalty for defensive holding and illegal contact.”
The third has been proposed by the Eagles and that would be to adopt the two possession approach for overtime that was used during the playoffs but not during the regular season.
This change would grant “both teams an opportunity to possess the ball regardless of the outcome of the first possession, subject to a 15-minute overtime period in the regular season.”
During the regular season, under the current rules, the team that possesses the ball first in overtime can end the game with a touchdown.
The Lions have also proposed a change to the playoff seeding that would’ve definitely made a difference in this year’s playoffs, which resulted in the Minnesota Vikings having to take a road trip to play the Los Angeles Rams, despite having a better overall record than the Rams.
The change would “amend the current playoff seeding format to allow wild card teams to be seeded higher than division champions if the wild card team has a better” overall regular season record.
These are just proposals and will have to be voted on by all the NFL owners at the upcoming meeting before being implemented. That meeting takes place from March 30 to April 2.

Fox News noted that the fan, identified as Ryan Caldwell, was seen in the video calling the woman a &#8220;dumb c***&#8221; while her fiancé recorded the incident.
&#8220;What it&#8217;s like going to Philly just trying to root for your team,&#8221; the fiancé, Alexander Basara, said in a post on X that included the video.

In the video clip, Basara is heard telling the fan to stop calling his fiancée crude names.

The video went viral on X, with more than 25 million views as of Tuesday morning. Most people in the comments, including Eagles fans, have condemned the behavior. 
“Coming from an Eagles fan, I’m sorry. We’re not all like this &amp; I’m disappointed no one around him stepped in to say anything,” one person replied.
“Lifelong Eagles fan here. And previous season ticket holder. I can tell you that MY husband would have stuck up for YOUR fiance! Yes, as an Eagles fan. Most of us aren’t that guy,” another said.
The man was quickly identified online, and social media users started reporting him to NFL officials and to his place of business, which was a management consulting firm called BCT Partners. The company has a stated aim &#8220;to provide insights about diverse people that lead to equity.”

The New Jersey-based company issued a <a href="https://x.com/bctpartners973?lang=en">statement</a> on the incident, writing that it had been “made aware” of the video and “had already begun a full investigation” into the employee’s conduct. 
“As an organization that has always stood for inclusivity, the behavior displayed was completely unacceptable and stands in direct opposition to our company values. … We sincerely apologize to everyone affected by this behavior and remain committed to fostering a culture of respect for all,” the statement said.
NFL reporter Derrick Gunn <a href="https://x.com/RealDGunn/status/1879003944867057816">shared</a> on X that the Eagles fan was banned from attending Eagles games for life due to his conduct. 
He wrote in a post on Monday night, “Here&#8217;s an update &#8230; Big Dom [DiSandro] has identified the guy and woman involved in this incident .. the guy will be banned from future Eagles games .. the eagles will be sending the woman packers gear as an apology .. Eagles once again showing what a class organization they are.”
The Eagles beat the Green Bay Packers 22-10 during Sunday’s showdown. They face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday for the NFC divisional round of the playoffs.

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are deadlocked in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/wisconsin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wisconsin</a> just days out from Election Day, a final poll from the Marquette Law School found. 
The <a href="https://law.marquette.edu/poll/category/poll-release/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">poll</a> found that Harris led Trump by 50-49% among 834 Wisconsin registered voters and 753 likely voters surveyed from October 16-24. Harris’s one-point edge, well within the margin of error, comes as both candidates seek to earn the state&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/swing-state-showcase-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-race-in-wisconsin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">10 electoral votes</a>. Wisconsin was decided by less than one percentage point in 2016 and 2020. 
The top three issues for the likely voters were the economy (38%), abortion (15%), and immigration and border security (13%). Half of those surveyed said Trump would be better for the economy, while 40% said Harris would be better. On the issue of immigration, 51% said Trump would be better, while 37% preferred Harris. On abortion, 53% said they trusted Harris more, while 35% said Trump. 
Trump led Harris 56-44% among those who planned to vote on Election Day and 52-47% of those who planned to vote early, while Harris had a 70-30% advantage among those who said they would vote by mail. 
As many national polls have shown, there is a massive gender gap in support for Trump and Harris. Harris led Trump 57%-43% among women, while the former president led Harris 56%-44% among men.

Marquette’s Law School poll found a tight Senate contest as well between incumbent Democrat Sen. Tammy Baldwin and Republican challenger Eric Hovde. The poll found Baldwin with a 51%-49% lead over Hovde, within the poll’s margin of error. The previous Marquette poll found Baldwin with a seven percentage point lead over Hovde. 
On a full Senate ballot, Baldwin leads Hovde 49%-47%, while “America First” Party candidate Thomas Leager earned one percent. Leager’s campaign has been <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/political-donors-democrats-republicans-wisconsin-senate-race/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">backed</a> by Democrats who hope it pulls conservative votes away from Hovde.

During his remarks, Favre pointed to high inflation, the fentanyl crisis, and foreign policy as reasons to back Trump.
“The stakes are incredibly high,” he said. &#8220;Families across Wisconsin are struggling to make ends meet. People’s salaries haven’t kept up with inflation. It’s getting harder for younger people to buy their first home. People are losing hope in the American dream.”

“And it’s not just about money. People are losing their lives,” he added. “Last year, 50 people here in Brown County died of a fentanyl overdose. That’s 50 too many. And our kids face the prospect of World War III.”
Favre said that it would be “insane” to give Vice President Kamala Harris four more years in the White House, saying that “its time to bench Kamala and put in the star quarterback Donald Trump.”
“I have lived the American dream,” he said. “But I want to make sure the future generations get to as well. And that would be my grandson Parker and his two brothers. So remember this: let’s make America great again.”
Favre spent one season with the Atlanta Falcons, 16 seasons with the Packers, one season with the New York Jets, and two with the Minnesota Vikings. He was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2016. He played a record 299 consecutive games and threw for 508 touchdowns and 71,838 yards in his career.
Both Trump and Harris have spent significant time in Wisconsin as it is again projected to be close.

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay blasted the NFL for scheduling the team&#8217;s opening game against the Green Bay Packers in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and told his family not to come because of the &#8220;crazy&#8221; high crime rate.
The NFL — which has scheduled games in London, Munich, and Mexico City in recent years — set up the league&#8217;s first game in South America, which will take place on Friday. During a recent episode of his podcast &#8220;Big Play Slay,&#8221; the Eagles defensive back said he&#8217;s looking forward to the start of the 2024 season but added that he&#8217;s not excited about the Brazil game.

On Thursday, league owners voted against opposition by coaches to approve a one-year trial for a rule that puts the ball on the receiving team&#8217;s 25-yard line &#8220;if there is a fair catch on a free kick (kickoff and safety kick)&#8221; anywhere between the 25-yard line and the goal line. This is an attempt to reportedly cut down on injuries, a move some in the NFL said will do the exact opposite, <a href="https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/chiefs-andy-reid-ravens-john-harbaugh-skeptical-of-new-kickoff-fair-catch-rules-where-does-it-stop/#:~:text=Under%20the%20new%20rules%2C%20kick,coach%20Andy%20Reid%20said%20Wednesday." target="_blank" rel="noopener">CBS</a> reported.

A suspect accused of shooting a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/new-york-city" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York City</a> police officer who had his bond paid by a former <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nfl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NFL</a> running back is now working as a for-hire driver, according to a new report. 
The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/05/06/cop-shooting-suspect-driving-livery-while-awaiting-trial-police-sources/?utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Nelson Pizarro, who is accused of shooting a cop during a drug search, has taken on a new gig as a livery driver after being bailed out of jail by former <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/green-bay-packers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Green Bay Packers</a> running back Ryan Grant. 
After 11 months in jail for allegedly shooting Detective Dominick Libretti in January 2022, Pizarro was let out in December. Police sources told the Post that Pizarro and Grant were “close friends” and that Pizarro was given approval to work as a livery driver after initially being put on house arrest. 
Sources added that Pizarro, who has former gun-related and drug convictions, had driven not far from Libretti’s home.
“He’s just got free rein of all the boroughs,” a law enforcement source said. “So there’s pretty much no repercussions for shooting a cop.”
Libretti, who was shot in the leg during the drug raid, said that he was shocked when he learned about Pizarro’s reported gig. Libretti spent about a week in the hospital after the shooting and he had reconstructive surgery. 
“How do you not tell me that this guy’s out driving on the freeway,” Libretti reportedly said. “It’s just a slap in the face to the whole job.”

Grant, who won a Super Bowl with the Packers in 2011, grew up in Rockland County New York before attending the University of Notre Dame. He was injured for the majority of the Packers&#8217; 2011 Super Bowl year, but still got a ring as part of the team. 
Pizarro <a href="https://www.silive.com/crime-safety/2022/12/suspect-in-shooting-of-nypd-officer-during-staten-island-drug-raid-posts-bond-for-release.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">was charged</a> with first-degree attempted murder, attempted aggravated murder of a police officer, criminal possession of a firearm, and attempted assault with a weapon. 
He said that he believed his house was being broken into during the police operation. “I thought I was getting robbed,” he reportedly said. “Is the cop going to be OK?”
Lance Lazzaro, who is representing Pizarro, said that the bail had been set too high. 
Only one side of the story has been told so far,” he said. “The bail should never have been that high.”
