Secretary of State Marco Rubio used his first appearance at the Munich Security Conference to deliver a call for a renewed “Western century” grounded in sovereignty, industrial power, borders, and civilizational confidence.
“The euphoria of this triumph led us to a dangerous delusion,” Rubio said, describing the post-Cold War belief that history had ended and that liberal democracy would inevitably spread. “That every nation would now be a liberal democracy; that the ties formed by trade and by commerce alone would now replace nationhood; that the rules-based global order would replace the national interest.”
“This was a foolish idea that ignored both human nature and the lessons of over 5,000 years of recorded human history,&#8221; he added. &#8220;And it has cost us dearly.”
Rubio contrasted that worldview with what he described as the lived consequences of Western policy choices: deindustrialization, weakened defense capacity, and economic dependence on adversaries who never shared the West’s assumptions.
“In this delusion, we embraced a dogmatic vision of free and unfettered trade,” Rubio said, “even as some nations protected their economies and subsidized their companies to systematically undercut ours—shuttering our plants, deindustrializing large parts of our societies, shipping millions of working- and middle-class jobs overseas, and handing control of our critical supply chains to both adversaries and rivals.”
Rubio argued that energy policy in particular had become an exercise in self-harm “to appease a climate cult.” He added, “We have imposed energy policies on ourselves that are impoverishing our people, even as our competitors exploit oil and coal and natural gas—not just to power their economies, but to use as leverage against our own.”
Rubio also rejected the framing common in recent Munich conferences that mass migration is primarily a humanitarian challenge rather than a civilizational one.
“In a pursuit of a world without borders,” he warned, “we opened our doors to an unprecedented wave of mass migration that threatens the cohesion of our societies, the continuity of our culture, and the future of our people.”
“Controlling who and how many people enter our countries,” Rubio continued, “is not an expression of xenophobia. It is not hate. It is a fundamental act of national sovereignty.”
On national security, Rubio explicitly rejected modern abstractionist framing. “The fundamental question we must answer at the outset is what exactly are we defending?” he said. “Because armies do not fight for abstractions. Armies fight for a people. Armies fight for a nation. Armies fight for a way of life.” That way of life, Rubio argued, is not interchangeable with other systems, nor should it be treated as morally neutral among equals.
“We are part of one civilization—Western civilization,” he said. “Bound by centuries of shared history, Christian faith, culture, heritage, language, ancestry, and sacrifice.”

Rubio’s speech also departed sharply from Biden-era deference to multinational institutions. While stopping short of calling for their abandonment, he argued that they have repeatedly failed on the most pressing security challenges of the age.
“The United Nations could not solve the war in Gaza. It did not solve the war in Ukraine. It was powerless to constrain the nuclear program of radical Shia clerics in Tehran,” Rubio said, crediting American military and diplomatic leadership with producing results.
“In a perfect world, these problems would be solved by diplomats and strongly-worded resolutions,” he added. “But we do not live in a perfect world.”
Rubio said plainly that the United States under President Trump intends to pursue renewal, and invites Europe to do the same. The future, Rubio concluded, depends on whether Western nations choose pride over guilt, sovereignty over submission, and renewal over retreat.
“We have no interest in being polite and orderly caretakers of the West’s managed decline,” Rubio said. “What we want is a reinvigorated alliance—one that is not paralyzed by fear, but bold enough to race into the future.”

Newly inaugurated Argentinian President Javier Milei blasted Western leaders and warned of the dangers of “collectivism” during a Wednesday speech at the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting. 
World leaders gathered in Davos, Switzerland, beginning on Monday, where they will hold speeches and panel discussions on issues ranging from artificial intelligence (AI) and climate policies to the ongoing wars between Ukraine and Russia and Israel and Hamas. On his way to Davos, Milei said he was attending the WEF conference to advocate for freedom, <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2024/01/17/argentina-president-javier-milei-urges-davos-elite-to-reject-socialism.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to CNBC. 
“Today, I’m here to tell you that the Western world is in danger,” Milei began his remarks at the WEF meeting. “And it is in danger because those who are supposed to have to defend the values of the West are co-opted by a vision of the world that inexorably leads to socialism and thereby to poverty.”
“Unfortunately in recent decades, motivated by some well-meaning individuals willing to help others and others motivated by the wish to belong to a privileged class, the main leaders of the Western world have abandoned the model of freedom for different versions of what we call collectivism,” Milei added. “We’re here to tell you that collectivist experiments are never the solution to the problems that afflict the citizens of the world. Rather, they are the root cause.”
The Argentinian libertarian president then said that there is no better than his country “to testify to these two points.”

Milei took center stage in Argentina last year, winning a shocking victory in November as he rode a wave of anti-establishment sentiment. He <a href="https://www.wsj.com/world/americas/javier-milei-argentina-president-inauguration-9574d812" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pledged</a> to gut federal government agencies and slash government spending by around 40%, warning against Argentina’s high inflation rate, which has blown up to more than 200%, and the socialist policies that put the country in a dire economic position.   
After taking office, the Argentinian president <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/17/economy/milei-argentina-speech-world-economic-forum/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">devalued</a> his country’s currency and is pushing to abolish Argentina’s central bank and privatize its pension system. 
At the conclusion of his speech, Milei added, “Do not surrender to the advance of the state! The state is not the solution; the state is the problem itself.”

Chief Twit <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/elon-musk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Elon Musk</a> is no midwit.
On Wednesday, Musk addressed the World Government Summit currently taking place in Dubai. Via video conference, Musk professed a sharp defense of nationalism and sovereignty while blasting the idea of a one-world government.
The Tesla founder advised the leaders of more than 150 countries that sometimes, too much cooperation can be a bad thing. If countries were to merge under a world government and create a single civilization, then the entire world could face calamity if that system came crashing down, he argued.
&#8220;I think we want to be a little bit cautious about being too much … of a single civilization because if we are too much of a single civilization, then the whole thing may collapse,&#8221; he said.
Musk went on to praise what deemed &#8220;civilizational diversity.&#8221;
&#8220;But I think we want to be a little bit wary of actually cooperating too much — it sounds a little odd, but we want to have some amount of civilizational diversity such that if something does go wrong with some part of civilization that the whole thing doesn&#8217;t collapse,&#8221; he added.
The free-speech-loving billionaire used examples from history, arguing that cultures have been protected thanks to heterogeneity in the past.
&#8220;If you look at, say, the history and the rise and fall of civilizations that really all throughout history &#8230; it hasn&#8217;t meant the doom of humanity as a whole because there’ve been all these separate civilizations that were separated by great distances,&#8221; he explained.

Musk pointed to the fact that while Rome was falling, Islam was rising. Since Rome did not have a monopoly on all forms of government and culture worldwide, knowledge was able to survive and even thrive.
However, if we were to place civilization under one authority today — then we would naturally risk chaos should that power structure fall.
During his address, Musk also detailed how Twitter under his watch seeks to abide by laws in certain countries without imposing a progressive worldview that has become synonymous with The Bay area where the company is headquartered.
&#8220;I think &#8230; the general idea is just to reflect the values of the people as opposed to imposing the values of essentially San Francisco and Berkeley — which are somewhat of a niche ideology as compared to the rest of the world,&#8221; he stated. &#8220;But you know Twitter was, I think, doing a little too much to impose a niche &#8230; ideology on the world so, you know, I thought it was important for the future of civilization to try to correct that thumb on the scale.&#8221;

Indeed, it is no secret that the previous leaders of the social media platform viewed it as their duty to be the arbiter of truth while pushing certain narratives. Under the guise of protecting against disinformation, Twitter previously stifled free speech and imposed an arguably woke worldview on everybody else. In many ways, they tried placing the entire globe under a &#8220;one world government&#8221; on the internet.
Musk has no interest in that and believes that making Twitter a place for free thought and citizen journalism — where people can be entertained and informed — is crucial for protecting democracy.
Since he purchased the company and told the world his plans, he has been described as everything from a &#8220;fascist&#8221; to a &#8220;threat to global democracy.&#8221; The criticisms don&#8217;t exactly make sense. He is against big business working with big government and wants to protect democracy by promoting free speech.
Folks who oppose such measures are men like World Economic Forum head Klaus Schwab. Musk has previously blasted WEF for &#8220;increasingly becoming an unelected world government that the people never asked for and don’t want.&#8221;
Schwab also spoke at the World Government Summit Wednesday. Not surprisingly, he argued precisely the opposite of what Musk had to say.
He wants to see an increase in global cooperation to foster a &#8220;global rules-based order.&#8221;
Schwab also warned that artificial intelligence and other advancements will increase over the next five years and that those&#8221;who master those technologies in some way will be the master of the world.&#8221;
It&#8217;s not hard to see that right now, Musk is, in many ways, blocking the WEF-aligned crowd from controlling the world through their ideas about proper governance. Right now, he stands athwart a global government. His acquisition of Twitter has thrown a wrench in globalist plans on everything from Ukraine to content moderation to ESG, and more. Twitter, under Musk, fosters the sort of creativity that technocrats cannot control. And that’s what they are really afraid of.

The world&#8217;s largest gathering of busybodies  — AKA <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-world-economic-forum-meets-in-davos-this-week-heres-what-to-expect" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the World Economic Forum</a> — is happening right now in Davos, Switzerland, leaving many to wonder who will step up and tell these know-it-alls to kick rocks.
This year&#8217;s invite-only guest list includes leftists such as ex-CNN host <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/brian-stelter-talks-disinformation-at-world-economic-forum" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brian Stelter</a>, Special Climate Envoy John Kerry, Al Gore, propagandists for the Chinese Communist Party, and every Western leader intent on keeping the war in Ukraine going as long as possible.
The general principle of each panel assembled remains the same: The common man is a dumbo and credentialed experts should dictate how the entire world operates.
So, in turn, they navel-gaze about the kind of car you should own — if you are to have any vehicle at all — whether you should eat bugs, and why you need to live in a pod while pondering how they can best censor &#8220;misinformation&#8221; for your own good.
They rarely admit their faults or past failed predictions, but when they do, they blame it on the data and promise to get it right next time.
Who exactly are these people? Well, they&#8217;re not so different from the men and women in your daily life who offer advice unsolicited or are all too eager to enforce the rules. You&#8217;ve known these hall monitor types since middle school. You probably avoid following them on social media now because they are so darn annoying and self-righteous.
Except, unlike the people you know, this Davos group is hoisted up as elite leaders and connected to billions upon billions of dollars. So, there is a little more to be concerned with, to be fair.
Regardless, the WEF crowd is a bunch of totalitarian freaks of every political stripe who enjoy the company of other totalitarian freaks because it makes them feel special. America&#8217;s climate czar Kerry practically <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/at-davos-john-kerry-praises-select-group-of-people-for-saving-the-planet-but-says-they-need-money-money-money" target="_blank" rel="noopener">admitted</a> as much on Tuesday while praising a &#8220;select group of people&#8221; for supposedly saving the world.
Of course, if their plans were ever put in place across the globe, we&#8217;d see disastrous results. A top-down society that doesn&#8217;t tolerate liberty or freedom in the name of the &#8220;greater good&#8221; always fails — whether it be communism, socialism, or fascism.
Considering that we&#8217;ve been hearing about their plan for world domination for decades now, it has to be questioned how effective this group is.
One conservative leader raising that point is Chris Rufo, the man who woke up the American Right to the true threat and nature of Critical Race Theory.
&#8220;Unpopular opinion: the obsession with Klaus Schwab, Davos, and the WEF is misguided, as they have little real power over life in America,&#8221; he tweeted.&#8221;It&#8217;s also enervating, as it shifts the locus of control to far-away figures, while constructive action can be taken at home. Stay focused.&#8221;
While some might say that the WEF pushed for the catastrophic lockdowns during COVID, Rufo argued that nobody forced the U.S. to go along with this.
&#8220;Ultimately, Trump endorsed mass lockdowns and most governors went along with him, with DeSantis providing a notable exception,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;We didn&#8217;t have to follow the China playbook. The fault is our own.&#8221;

The extent to which Trump &#8220;endorsed mass lockdowns&#8221; can and should be debated, but Rufo&#8217;s general line of thinking is correct: We just needed more elected officials to dismiss WEF&#8217;s suggestions on pandemic measures entirely, and we could have avoided misery.
The WEF isn&#8217;t really the main source of collectivist plans for global unity, it just serves as a convenient meeting place to gather thoughts. It&#8217;s one giant party, replete with champagne, flashy clothes, and ladies of the night.
More than 1,000 private jets fly in each year for the event, so you have to wonder how seriously they actually take their own concerns about things like climate change.  It seems most of these people like to &#8220;see and be seen&#8221; at this event.
So, one way to view these people is to worry that they&#8217;re going to control your life. To be clear, these sorts of folks wouldn&#8217;t hesitate at a moment&#8217;s notice to impose government dominance over every aspect of your life if given &#8220;emergency powers to do so.&#8221; We saw that during COVID.
Another way to look at this situation though is to view the attendees of WEF as garden variety-type busybodies, as mentioned in the title and opening lede.
These folks aren&#8217;t so different than that lady on the parish council who demands &#8220;Go Make A Difference&#8221; gets played each mass instead of a Gregorian chant. You probably have had a nosy neighbor at some point in your life who asks intrusive questions. Perhaps you know a mom at school who is a little judgmental of how you raise your children — as if hers are perfect.
As Elon Musk put it in response to Rufo, &#8220;We shouldn’t be obsessed with WEF/Davos, but they take themselves sooo seriously that making fun of them is awesome.&#8221;

In other words, we just need to tell them to pound sand. That&#8217;s easy to do in your personal life, but American citizens need elected leaders who put America first — not follow the Davos crowd — for that to happen on the world stage.

Incoming Italian <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/conservative-giorgia-meloni-claims-victory-as-italys-first-female-prime-minister/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni</a> won’t be moving into the opulent official residence in Rome because she and her partner prefer to raise their daughter in the suburbs.
The conservative leader, who was swept into power Sunday amid a growing backlash against European globalists, will remain in Mostacciano, a suburb of the Italian capital, where she and Andrea Giambruno now live.
“Do you think we’d raise a six-year-old child in a Versailles-like palazzo?” Giambruno, a TV journalist, said in a rare interview with Italian daily newspaper <a href="https://www.corriere.it" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Corriere della Sera</a>. “We’ve already got a house.”
The prime minister’s official residence is the 16th century Palazzo Chigi, located in the heart of the city. It traditionally serves as both the residence and the office of Italy’s leader.
Meloni’s party, Brothers of Italy, sits atop a coalition of right-wing parties and is in the process of forming a new government after the election. Meloni is reportedly in talks with allies Matteo Salvini and former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to assemble a cabinet before taking office at the end of next month.
Critics on the Left have branded Meloni a fascist and compared her to World War II-era dictator Benito Mussolini, in large part for her fierce criticism of globalists and her early political roots in a party linked to the infamous figure.
YouTube this week took down a video of her delivering a powerful and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/youtube-removed-viral-pro-family-speech-from-incoming-conservative-italian-pm-giorgia-meloni/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">career-defining speech</a> in 2019, claiming it violated “community guidelines.”
“Why is the family an enemy? Why is the family so frightening?” Meloni said in the speech. “There is a single answer to all these questions. Because it defines us. Because it is our identity. Because everything that defines us is now an enemy for those who would like us to no longer have an identity and to simply be perfect consumer slaves.”

Meloni, who was raised in Rome by a single mom who wrote romance novels, won her first local election at 21 and became Italy’s youngest ever minister when former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi made her youth minister in 2008. In her 2021 autobiography, “I am Giorgia,” Meloni described joining a local chapter of the Italian Social Movement, created in 1946 by supporters of Mussolini.
She compares her party and her politics to Republicans in the U.S. and Britain’s Conservative Party, and even left-wing former Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi called claims Meloni is a fascist “fake news.”
&#8220;I&#8217;m not her best friend,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/absolutely-fake-news-on-cnn-giorgia-melonis-political-rival-shuts-down-fascism-fears/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Renzi told CNN</a>. “We are rivals but she is not a danger to democracy. The idea there is a risk of fascism in Italy is absolutely fake news.&#8221;
Meloni’s unapologetic defense of faith and family has resonated with conservatives around the world who are suspicious of growing power of globalist groups such as the World Economic Forum. She is also a fierce critic of radical gender theory and illegal immigration.
“Yes to natural families, no to the LGBT lobby, yes to sexual identity, no to gender ideology, yes to the culture of life, no to the abyss of death,” she said in a June speech. “No to the violence of Islam, yes to safer borders, no to mass immigration, yes to work for our people, no to major international finance.”
Giambruno said Meloni has proven that Italy is hungry for change.
“She has achieved something unthinkable given where she came from,” Giambruno said in the interview. “She has showed that if you work hard without taking shortcuts, you will make it.”
Giambruno and Meloni are not married, and Meloni has been accused of hypocrisy for promoting traditional, Christian family values.
“Saying that if you are not married you cannot defend the natural family based on marriage is a bit like saying that if you are young, you cannot care about the problems of the elderly,” she wrote in her autobiography last year.

“All glory to God!” Buschini wrote in response to a tweet praising the speech. “Love this!”
The speech Buschini praised, then apologized for praising, has become a rallying cry for conservatives around the world who see Meloni as the latest hope for stopping the West’s slide toward socialism.

“Why is the family an enemy? Why is the family so frightening?” Meloni said. “There is a single answer to all these questions. Because it defines us. Because it is our identity. Because everything that defines us is now an enemy for those who would like us to no longer have an identity and to simply be perfect consumer slaves.”
Meloni, 45, a member of the Brothers of Italy party, heads an alliance of conservative parties which now boasts majorities in both houses of parliament and will likely form a new government. Critics have branded her a fascist and compared her to World War II-era dictator Benito Mussolini, in large part for her fierce criticism of globalists and her early political roots in a party linked to the infamous figure.

“And so they attack national identity, they attack religious identity, they attack gender identity, they attack family identity,” she continued in her career-defining speech three years ago. “I can’t define myself as Italian, Christian, woman, mother. No. I must be Citizen X, Gender X, Parent 1, Parent 2. I must be a number. Because when I am only a number, when I no longer have an identity or roots, then I will be the perfect slave at the mercy of financial speculators. The perfect consumer.”
A day after praising the speech, <a href="https://twitter.com/brian_buschini/status/1574914028777967617?s=20&amp;t=BeRX0kIS8lP_popJexqh7g" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Buschini was taking it back</a>.
“I want to take the time to apologize for a tweet I posted yesterday,” he wrote. “I saw a headline from a speech the new Prime Minister of Italy made that seemed to support Christianity and family values. I unfortunately tweeted about this without knowing the background or history of this politician or the movement she is involved with. In no way do I support fascism or racism in any form. I apologize for posting without understanding the reality of what I was posting about.”
Meloni, who was raised by a single mom in Rome, won her first local election at 21 and became Italy&#8217;s youngest ever minister when former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi made her youth minister in 2008. In her 2021 autobiography, “I am Giorgia,” Meloni described joining a local chapter of the Italian Social Movement, created in 1946 by supporters of Mussolini.
She compares her party and her politics to Republicans in the U.S. and Britain&#8217;s Conservative Party.
&#8220;Yes to natural families, no to the LGBT lobby, yes to sexual identity, no to gender ideology, yes to the culture of life, no to the abyss of death,&#8221; she said in a June speech. &#8220;No to the violence of Islam, yes to safer borders, no to mass immigration, yes to work for our people, no to major international finance.&#8221;

Greetings, global citizens! Some things happen in politics that are a bit too on the nose.
For example, conservatives have warned that &#8220;America Last&#8221; globalists in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/washington-d-c" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Washington, D.C.</a>, are wasting federal money on pet causes such as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/it-is-pretty-ironic-radio-interview-with-teen-climate-activist-goes-sideways-in-3-2-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">climate change</a>. At the same time, these self-appointed moral betters are pushing the entire world into having the same set of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/globalism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rules, customs, and culture</a>. Those same elites remain oblivious that enemies like China are completely flouting those standards.
Critics say that is all a conspiracy and fear-mongering.
To help alleviate those fears, Democrat President Joe Biden, first lady Jill Biden, Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE), and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) addressed the Global Citizen Festival this past weekend.
All four bragged about the fact that the United States is spending billions on leftist causes while shipping U.S. tax dollars overseas. Jill even went a bit further and pushed the notion that the entire world should adopt left-wing American values.
Via video address, Biden joined the first lady for an urgent message for the event Saturday evening. The festival was started in 2012 and is sponsored by some of the largest corporations in the world. It aims to alleviate &#8220;extreme poverty&#8221; through global collectivist efforts.
&#8220;Last month I signed the biggest climate bill in history, the biggest ever. $369 billion to slash emissions by nearly half,&#8221; Biden bragged as a doting Jill nodded along. &#8220;This is a whole new chapter for America and for the planet. We have to do more, I pledged $11 billion a year to help poor countries fight climate change.&#8221;

The comments came just a week after John Kerry, the White House&#8217;s special climate envoy, warned poorer nations in Africa that they would have to sacrifice for the good of the world and choose which sort of fossil fuel they want to power the continent.
&#8220;We are not saying no gas,&#8221; Kerry <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/climate-czar-john-kerry-warns-africa-natural-gas-bring-power-millions" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> at a conference in Dakar, Senegal.
&#8220;What we are saying is, over the next few years, gas replaces coal or replaces oil,&#8221; he added in promotion of a transition to green energy.
For all his bluster, Kerry does not seem too concerned with the threat of fossil fuels himself. According to Fox News, Kerry&#8217;s family jet has emitted 300 metric tons of carbon dioxide since the Biden administration began.
Saturday afternoon, Schumer and Coons similarly amped up the crowd by promising to look after the citizens of other countries. Coons was particularly laudatory of &#8220;global citizens.&#8221;
&#8220;As chair of the Senate subcommittee that funds all of our foreign assistance, I will keep working with Senator Schumer to fund issues like climate change and improve the lives of millions and millions of families across the globe,&#8221; Coons told the crowd.
&#8220;Thank you Global Citizens for everything you do!&#8221; he added. &#8220;You are the wind beneath our wings!&#8221;
&#8220;You are the greatest,&#8221; Schumer chimed in. &#8220;And we are in a New York State of Mind.&#8221;

Did you get that? Global citizens are the pinnacle of model human beings, according to Schumer and Coons.
MAGA Republicans, on the other hand, are threats to democracy and a basket of deplorables. Democratic leaders have zero interest in representing anybody not on board with their collectivist agenda.
The first lady also made it abundantly clear that the entire world is in a battle against American conservatives. For her part, Jill called on the whole planet to come together at this time.
&#8220;From the Paris agreement to defending democracy to standing up to the NRA, we’ve seen what’s possible when we come together, when we vote, when we raise our voices, and work for change,&#8221; the first lady said during the video address. &#8220;The world is counting on us, all of us, to stand up for the values we hold dear.&#8221;
It is not entirely clear what fighting a second amendment advocacy group in the U.S. has to do with feeding starving children abroad, but the first lady evidently thought it was necessary to mention her party&#8217;s fight against the NRA. &#8220;Defending democracy,&#8221; as readers well know, is a codeword for using the might of the federal government against Americans who support former President Donald J. Trump of the MAGA philosophy.
Of course, as America suffers from open borders, sends billions to places like Ukraine with zero oversight, and inflation runs wild, it&#8217;s obvious that the Democratic Party has other priorities than improving the lives of the average American or standing up to our enemies.
Well, now we know in their own words, they are focused on &#8220;global citizens.&#8221; Meanwhile, China is focused on <a href="https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/china-has-built-14-overseas-coal-plants-since-vowing-no-new-ones-1.1822049" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opening up another</a> coal plant.

The American left has a new bogeyman these days. This latest grave threat, as progressives see it, is an emerging international coalition of conservative politicians, pundits and thinkers who are loosely working together to preserve and protect the Western values that animate the right. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, delivered a speech at CPAC this month that occasioned much sturm und drang from American liberals, and has become the latest tool for fear mongering from the left.
Another speaker at CPAC in Dallas, Nigel Farage, also stands in the company of the New Right. The former British MP and UKIP leader was the face of the Brexit battle in the UK in 2015. Many political commentators viewed the successful fight to get Britain out of the European Union as a tremor that presaged the earthquake of Donald Trump’s stunning 2016 victory in his run for the White House.
The throughline between Farage and Trump was a deep suspicion of trade deals and global organizations trying to create a one world approach to problems like climate change, poverty, and migration. And there is an important point here. The global left has long formed international coalitions to achieve their goals. The official song of socialism is literally called, ‘The Internationale.’ But apparently when conservatives use similar tactics it is suddenly dark and nefarious.
The current iteration of fear regarding a rising global right centers on Orban. His approach to leadership has focused on Hungary as a Christian nation, promoting family formation (often with generous government subsidies) and on maintaining cultural cohesion by strictly limiting immigration. The latter issue got him in some hot water recently as he criticized the “<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2022/08/04/viktor-orban-cpac-dallas-speech/">race mixing</a>” of much of Western Europe. For Americans and others in the West this understandably raised eyebrows, but it is important to understand that Hungarian is an ethnicity, American is not, and so prying apart cultural and ethnic identities is not so clear cut.
Another supposed terror spun by the left is that the global New Right seeks to impose a Christian theocracy. And yes, Christianity does lie at the core of much of this new coalition. Importantly though, there is a scale at work regarding the place of religion in Western states. Many Americans are appalled that Hungary would allow the teachings of Christianity to be at the center of so many of its policies. In our own system a state religion is barred by the constitution. But the UK has Christianity as its official religion, and even has a Church of England. This has never made Americans view the British system as a scary, illiberal theocracy ripped from the pages of the Handmaid’s Tale.
The fact is, it is impossible to even discuss the history and values of the West without discussing the role of Christianity. For most of its history the West was known as Christendom. When conservatives in the West seek to conserve its traditional ideals, those ideals cannot be divorced from the 2,000 year old religion which gave them shape and form. To surrender the core Christian underpinnings of our societies and cultures out of vague fears regarding separation of church and state would be to surrender the battle for our civilization itself without firing a shot.
The central idea animating the Trumps, Orbans and Farages of the global political scene is that the nation state must remain the primary source of power in a world increasingly given over to global institutions. If much of 20th century American conservatism was a battle to maintain power in the states against a jealous federal government, in the 21st century this battle has shifted to maintaining the power of the American state in a sea of creeping globalism.
Here is how Farage put it in his CPAC speech, “this battle on behalf not just of America, but on behalf of the whole of the free world [is] to save everything our forebears built, designed and defended against the world.” Part of this is of course economic, but the more important part, the piece that drives this global conservative mission is cultural. Something like the fight over the definition of what a woman is does not know clean national borders. As leftist international organizations work to codify transgenderism it is necessary for the forces aligned against such redefinitions to cooperatively confront them.
This has led to some leading figures on the American New Right being castigated for foreign alliances the left deems unholy. Fox News host Tucker Carlson has come under blistering attack for his embrace of Orban, and for broadcasting his show from Budapest. Others like Compact Magazine founder Sohrab Ahmari have been lambasted for finding elements of Chinese communitarianism that they believe America could emulate.
Disagreement with Carlson, or Ahmari, or anyone else is fine obviously, but the idea that they represent some grave threat to American democracy is laughable. In fact, the opposite is true. Their overwhelming concern is that Americans, Brits, and Hungarians decide for themselves and their nations what their future should hold rather than a global leviathan.
Hysteria in the US has reached a bizarre fever pitch. All over social media are images of a Nazi rally at Madison Square Garden in the 1930s, the left seems to truly believe that international New Right politics is a harbinger of fascism. It’s absolutely absurd. There is no call for dictatorship, for expunging anyone from the body politic, for the persecution of minorities. All of this is invented by a global left that sees the emerging global right as a check on their heretofore unchecked power. 
For decades now the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, the World Health Organization and a whole alphabet soup of international organizations from Denver to Davos have pushed a far left agenda across the globe.
This new scrappy band of international conservatives is nothing for Americans or the people of any nation to fear. The only people who should be afraid of it are those trying to enforce a top down globalism on the nations of the world. But we are not citizens of the world, we are citizens of our countries and the New Right aims to keep it that way.

Tucked away in the Northeast Georgia Mountains once stood a mysterious set of five 19-foot granite stones with 10 guidelines inscribed in eight languages known as “America’s Stonehenge” that suggested humanity maintain itself by keeping the population under 500 million people in perpetual balance with nature.
Formally known as the Georgia Guidestones, the 240,000-pound slabs of granite stood near the city of Elberton for over 40 years until a mysterious <a href="https://twitter.com/TheInsiderPaper/status/1544803568146063360">explosion</a> occurred early Wednesday morning. The detonation damaged a large portion of the structure the point that <a href="https://twitter.com/stillgray/status/1544810411811553280">construction crews</a> had no choice but to finish the job.

Elbert County Sheriff’s Office authorities were the first on the scene to discover the explosion significantly damaged one of the four stones. 
As of Wednesday afternoon, the cause of the explosion remains under investigation, and authorities have not arrested or identified any suspects.
The monument&#8217;s beginnings were as big a mystery as its demise.
In 1980, a man using the pseudonym Robert C. Christian constructed “America’s Stonehenge” to function as a compass, calendar, and clock. Yet the origins and its purpose remain a puzzle, as no one knows the true identity of the man or group who sponsored the Guidestones. 
Aside from the Guidestone’s first message, which more or less promoted a global depopulation agenda, the other nine “instructions” were universal self-help recommendations.
The stones encouraged humanity to guide reproduction wisely through improving fitness and diversity, bring humanity together using a living new language, and rule with passion, faith, tradition, and reason. Other guidelines called for protecting people and nations with fair laws and just courts while letting all countries rule internally and resolve external disputes in a world court. 
“Avoid petty laws and useless officials,” one guideline read.
Another stone&#8217;s inscription called for balancing personal rights with social duties, followed by a rule to prize truth, beauty, and love by seeking harmony with the infinite.
And finally, it said, “Be not a cancer on the Earth — Leave room for nature — Leave room for nature.”
Each stone translated the guidelines into eight modern languages: English, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, and Russian. 
And inscribed on the sides near the top, the exhibit had the names of four ancient languages — Babylonian cuneiform, Classical Greek, Sanskrit, and Egyptian Hieroglyphics. 
In the aftermath of the explosion, the Internet teemed with theories about who or what caused Guidestones to be reduced to rubble. 
Earlier this year, during Georgia’s gubernatorial primary, Republican candidate Kandiss Taylor brought attention to the Guidestones, claiming the stones were part of a “Luciferian cabal” and promising to destroy the monument if elected. 
Taylor weighed in on Twitter following the explosion.
“God is God all by Himself,” Taylor <a href="https://twitter.com/KandissTaylor/status/1544691940083507204">said</a>. “He can do ANYTHING He wants to do. That includes striking down Satanic Guidestones.”
But the monuments never amounted to more than &#8220;a tourist attraction,” Christopher Kubas, of the Elberton Granite Association that maintains the Georgia Guidestones, told <a href="https://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/active-police-investigation-shuts-down-roads-around-mysterious-georgia-monument/SYW477PW45AOBLMS56PWSWSDXQ/">WSB-TV</a>.
“It’s sad,” Kubas said. “Not just for Elberton and Elbert County, but I’m sad for the United States and the world.&#8221; 
“These were tourist attractions, and it was not uncommon for people from around the world to be up here at any given time,” he added.
Regardless of its origins and intent, the monument attracted around 20,000 visitors a year.

The Biden administration released a report on Thursday championing its commitment to “inclusive democracy,” highlighting its efforts to promote transgenderism worldwide. 
In the report, <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2022/04/28/fact-sheet-u-s-agencies-are-advancing-the-human-rights-of-lgbtqi-persons-around-the-world/">described</a> as “the first of its kind,” the Biden administration pointed to various government agencies and projects around the world aimed at “protecting the human rights of LGBTQI+.” 
The 130-page <a href="https://www.state.gov/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Interagency-Report-on-the-Implementation-of-the-Presidential-Memorandum-on-Advancing-the-Human-Rights-of-Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender-Queer-and-Intersex-Persons-Around-the-World-2022.pdf">report</a> mentions the word “transgender” more than 100 times and highlights U.S. support for various initiatives pertaining to transgenderism. For example, the administration’s Fact Sheet highlighted the government’s <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2022/04/28/fact-sheet-u-s-agencies-are-advancing-the-human-rights-of-lgbtqi-persons-around-the-world/">support</a> of a transgender health center in India and a Peace Corps-led panel on the subject.
Further, an estimated $5 million allocated from the United States Agency for International Development is expected to support a “program involving substantial capacity building opportunities and direct grantmaking to LGBTQI+ and transgender-led organizations around the world.”
The Peace Corp panel, held in June 2021 called “Translating Transgender Identity Abroad,” was designed to help recruit transgender candidates to the agency. In addition, the Peace Corps had staff training from May-July 2021 on “inclusive language and communication strategies to support transgender, gender fluid, and non-binary candidates throughout the application process.” 
In Cambodia and Tongo, the Peace Corp hosted events featuring transgender activists from within the countries focusing on education. For example, for Peace Keepers raising awareness about Menstrual Hygiene Day, language was changed in an informational newsletter to say “women, girls, and others who menstruate.”
Events in Cambodia focused on the “lived experiences” and included a “storytelling session about the transgender community in Cambodia.” One American transgender Peace Keeper “trained the team on transgender issues from a US perspective.” 
The move to introduce transgender inclusiveness into foreign initiatives has drawn criticism from conservative groups. 
“It would be bad enough if the Biden administration were simply forcing their radical gender ideology on Americans,” Terry Schilling of the American Principles Project told The Daily Wire in a statement. “But unfortunately, if not unsurprisingly, they are also exporting their extremism to the rest of the world.” 
He added, “It is abhorrent, for example, that our government would threaten to deny other countries aid for refusing to kowtow to the transgender lobby, but it appears that may be exactly what is happening under this president.”
The Peace Corps Globally also recognized Transgender Day of Visibility and worked to “designate space” for pronouns on Peace Corps business cards. Signs were also introduced showing that people can “access all gender-segregated HQ facilities that corresponds with their gender identity.” 
The Peace Corps itself still appears to operate off a gender binary philosophy as one of its stated <a href="https://www.peacecorps.gov/about/">goals</a> is to “help the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women.”
Schilling said that Republicans should work to end the Biden administration’s exportation of transgenderism. 
“If Biden&#8217;s goal is to make the rest of the world resent us, this is the way to do it. Republicans in Congress should do everything possible to end this insanity,” he said.

The World Economic Forum announced Monday that its annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, scheduled for January 17-21, 2022, has been postponed indefinitely amid concerns about the coronavirus Omicron variant.
The yearly gathering of high-profile business and political leaders, which is held annually at the Swiss resort mecca, was <a href="https://apnews.com/article/world-economic-forum-europe-health-coronavirus-pandemic-business-b4d3c52049fe01ea82e4334a26710b61">canceled</a> in 2021 due to COVID-19 concerns. <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2021/12/20/davos-is-dead-525732">Politico</a> reports that the 2022 event will be replaced by a series of online discussions.
&#8220;Current pandemic conditions make it extremely difficult to deliver a global in-person meeting. &#8220;Public-private cooperation has moved forward throughout the pandemic and that will continue apace. We look forward to bringing global leaders together in person soon,&#8221; World Economic Forum founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab said in a statement of his own, adding that the summit&#8217;s postponement &#8220;will not prevent progress through continued digital convening of leaders from business, government and civil society.&#8221;
Politico notes that the meeting&#8217;s organizers are attempting to move the event to the summer of next year, but efforts to relocate the 2021 Special Annual Meeting to <a href="https://www.weforum.org/press/2020/12/special-annual-meeting-2021-to-take-place-in-singapore-in-may/">Singapore</a> in May failed. The meeting was moved to August but then canceled completely amid a spike in COVID-19 cases on the island nation.
The WEF had successfully paused implementation of a Swiss regulation requiring foreign travelers to quarantine for 10 days until after the conference had concluded, but constantly-changing local regulations caused event mainstays to cancel their events and bookings of spaces.
Organizers remain optimistic about the progress of the WEF&#8217;s work moving forward. “The annual meeting is just one touch point alongside the day-to-day work of our nearly 20 platforms. Our partners sign on as members to work year-round,” WEF spokeswoman Amanda Russo told Politico.
The World Economic Forum became the target of ire from conservatives after a June 2020 meeting unveiled an initiative called the &#8220;Great Reset&#8221; that aimed to use the pretext of the COVID-19 pandemic to reshape the global economy at a fundamental level.
