The activist group GLAAD is sounding the alarm that LGBT character representation on television will drop by more than 40% next season.
The organization’s “Where We Are On TV” <a href="https://glaad.org/whereweareontv24/">report</a> showed that, despite the number of LGBT characters increasing last season to 489, 41% of those characters will not return due to series cancellations or endings, limited series appearances, or being killed off. 
“There is a definite concern that it’s not going to bounce back next year and see a growth just in terms of what’s been announced up to this moment,” GLAAD rep Megan Townsend <a href="https://www.thewrap.com/glaad-where-we-are-on-tv-2024-2025-report-findings/">told</a> TheWrap. “We have not had a ton of announcements or news about new series and returning series within the research period that would make up for some of these losses.”
Townsend also <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/glaad-study-gay-characters-on-television-where-we-are-on-tv-1236415828/">insisted</a> that “inclusive stories resonate with audiences and drive business success” and that “over 84 million American adults say they’re more likely to watch a TV show if it features at least one LGBTQ character.”
Sarah Kate Ellis, CEO and President of GLAAD, was also unhappy with the findings.
“Nearly a third of non-LGBTQ+ Americans say that LGBTQ+-inclusive media has changed their perception of our community,” she said. 
“Today, we are at a critical juncture, with hateful rhetoric running unchecked from politicians and news media and given a falsely amplified platform, even as the majority of this country overwhelmingly supports the LGBTQ+ community. With so many diverse, entertaining and impactful series being canceled at an alarming rate, it is imperative that networks and streamers do not back down.”
While the activists panicked, many social media commenters agreed that the LGBT characters being written off was merely a reflection of what viewers wanted.
“Call me crazy but that&#8217;s the free market. If demand isn&#8217;t there, characters and shows will be canceled,” one X user <a href="https://x.com/adamtoo__/status/1986620655903625336">said</a>. 
“If you don’t make money, you get canned,” another commenter <a href="https://x.com/knockhead/status/1986785036079661329">agreed</a>. “Not rocket science.”

Just two months after making headlines for questioning a same-sex kiss scene in the Disney film “Lightyear,” Snoop Dogg has fully caved to the progressive mob. The 53-year-old rapper just announced that he teamed up with the LGBT activist organization GLAAD and wrote a new song with gay pride themes for his children’s series.
The recording artist, whose legal name is Calvin Broadus Jr., worked with GLAAD to promote “Spirit Day” for LGBT teens on Thursday. He teamed up with The Voice contestant Jeremy Beloate on “Love Is Love,” a song highlighted in the latest episode of Snoop’s animated children’s series Doggyland on YouTube.

“It’s teaching parenthood. “This is a program we’ve been doing for years where we involve kids,” he added. “These are things that kids have questions about so now hopefully we can help answer these questions and help them to live a happy life and understand that love is love.”
The rapper went on, “It’s a beautiful thing that kids can have parents of all walks and be shown love, to be taught what love is … being able to have parents from all walks of life, whether it be two fathers, two mothers, whatever it is, love is the key.”
This is a drastic about-face for Snoop, who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/snoop-dogg-calls-out-hollywood-for-lgbt-themes-in-childrens-films-theyre-putting-it-everywhere">criticized the inclusion</a> of same-sex couples in children’s programming in August after watching the movie “Lightyear” with his grandkids.
“What you see is what you see, and they’re putting it everywhere,” Snoop said before referencing the 2022 Disney film, which featured a same-sex couple. 
“They’re like, ‘She had a baby with another woman.’ Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, ‘Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!’” he went on.
The rapper said he thought, &#8220;&#8216;Oh sh**, I didn’t come in for this sh**. I just came to watch the g**damn movie.’” But his grandson wouldn’t let it go, and said, &#8220;They just said, she and she had a baby … they’re both women. How does she have a baby?” 
Snoop said the whole thing “f***ed me up. I’m like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of sh** that I don’t have an answer for.”
“It threw me for a loop. I’m like, ‘What part of the movie was this? … These are kids,” he added. “We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer.”
Many of Snoop’s followers were furious over the comments and accused him of defecting to the conservative side, especially considering that he had performed at a celebratory event before President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
An Instagram apology that appeared to be sent from the rapper’s official Instagram account went viral one week later, but Snoop’s rep <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/was-snoop-doggs-apology-for-criticizing-gay-kiss-in-disney-movie-a-fake?author=Amanda+Harding&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Was+Snoop+Dogg%E2%80%99s+Apology+For+Criticizing+Gay+Kiss+In+Disney+Movie+A+Fake%3F">denied</a> that it was legitimate. A leading pro-LGBT group this week published a report on &#8220;anti-LGBTQ incidents&#8221; in the United States. It&#8217;s incredibly shocking — but not in the way you&#8217;d think.
GLAAD (Gay &amp; Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) <a href="https://assets.glaad.org/m/517666e6160db065/original/2025-GLAAD-ALERT-Desk-Report.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> more than 932 hate incidents across the country over the year that ended May 1. The group also claims that &#8220;anti-trans hate hit a record high&#8221; and that &#8220;52% of all incidents were targeting transgender and gender nonconforming people.&#8221;
Here&#8217;s the kicker: the biggest category of incidents GLAAD recorded was &#8220;protests.&#8221; Yeah, you read that right.
It&#8217;s not clear which specific protests GLAAD is referring to.
Perhaps it&#8217;s parents fighting for their children. Just last month, Colorado parents <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-parents-blocked-the-radical-child-custody-part-of-colorados-new-transgender-law?author=Mairead+Elordi&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=3&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=How+Parents+Blocked+The+Radical+Child+Custody+Part+Of+Colorado’s+New+Transgender+Law" target="_blank" rel="noopener">showed</a> up at the state capital to rally against a radical bill that declared that parents in custody battles who misgender or “deadname” their child were guilty of “coercive control” and could lose their child.
Or maybe it&#8217;s female athletes <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/most-likely-ended-my-career-disc-golfer-who-protested-trans-competitor-says-she-has-no-regrets" target="_blank" rel="noopener">walking</a> off the field and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-female-fencer-and-trans-supporting-usa-fencing-head-face-off-at-heated-doge-hearing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">refusing</a> to compete against trans-identifying male competitors.
Perhaps it&#8217;s one of the countless other events organized by the countless concerned Americans who have shown up at school board meetings, state legislatures, and <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/picture-gallery/news/politics/2025/04/22/demonstrations-supreme-court-religious-freedom-lgbtq-diversity-photos/83210169007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">even</a> the Supreme Court to speak out against LGBT agendas.
Meanwhile, of course, there&#8217;s a long list of actually violent acts the Left does not consider hate. How about the disturbed trans-identifying woman who shot up The Covenant School in Nashville in 2023, killing six people, including three nine-year-olds? Or the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020 that destroyed over $1 billion of property? Or maybe the firebombing of pro-life pregnancy centers around the time Roe v. Wade was overturned?

Another eye-catching category in GLAAD&#8217;s report was &#8220;propaganda drops,&#8221; with more than 60 incidents, although it is not exactly clear what a &#8220;propaganda drop&#8221; is. Perhaps college students <a href="https://www.christianpost.com/news/university-bans-student-from-handing-out-christian-pamphlets-to-lgbt-studies-class.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">handing</a> out Christian pamphlets to an LGBT studies class?
GLAAD claimed trans-identifying and &#8220;gender nonconforming&#8221; people were the target of over half of all the anti-LGBTQ incidents, but this includes 209 &#8220;protests&#8221; and 33 &#8220;propaganda drops.&#8221;
&#8220;Compared to last year’s data, this represents a 14% increase in incidents targeting transgender and gender nonconforming people,&#8221; GLAAD said.
The other categories included about 280 harassment incidents, 140 vandalism incidents, 85 assaults, 20 bomb threats, and 15 arson attempts.
So bomb threats, arson, and violent assaults are in the same &#8220;hate&#8221; category as legal, peaceful protests exercising First Amendment rights. Got it!
Sarah Moore, who runs GLAAD&#8217;s tracker, <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/06/02/anti-lgbtq-incidents-glaad-data-transgender" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> the tracker includes &#8220;every expression of hate&#8221; regardless of whether it is a crime because &#8220;LGBTQ people are going to experience these things as acts of hate, regardless of if they&#8217;re prosecuted as that.&#8221;
GLAAD pointed the finger at the Trump administration, saying its executive orders &#8220;specifically demean and discriminate&#8221; against trans-identifying people.
Shortly after taking office, President Donald Trump issued multiple executive orders that banned federal funds for schools that allow males in girls&#8217; sports and bathrooms, as well as for hospitals that perform transgender surgeries on children.
One order also defined sex as male and female — remember when this was common sense? Now it&#8217;s &#8220;hateful.&#8221;
&#8220;Hope shines brightest in the darkest moments,&#8221; said GLAAD&#8217;s president and CEO, Sarah Kate Ellis, in a letter published with the report. &#8220;As we honor the queer and trans leaders of decades past and present, and resolve to overcome the challenges of today, we create a new legacy of joy as resistance.&#8221;
By the way, this is not even the first year GLAAD has counted protests and rallies as &#8220;hate&#8221; incidents.
GLAAD launched its &#8220;ALERT Desk&#8221; database to track anti-LGBTQ extremism back in June 2022. Of the 2,626 incidents GLAAD <a href="https://glaad.org/anti-lgbtq-extremism-reporting-tracker/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">says</a> have occurred in the three years since the database was launched, 872 of them are protests or rallies.

Actress Cynthia Erivo, who stars in the musical drama “Wicked” opposite Ariana Grande, just said in a speech at the GLAAD Media Awards that it’s “hard” not being referred to by preferred pronouns.
The 38-year-old British star made the remarks during the event at the Beverly Hilton last week, where she was awarded the Stephen F. Kolzak award, which is <a href="https://www.thepinknews.com/2025/03/28/cynthia-erivo-pronouns-glaad-awards/">given to</a> an “openly queer member of the entertainment or media community for their work toward eliminating homophobia.”

&#8220;They, them. Words used to describe pedantically two or more people, (and) poetically a person who is simply more,&#8221; Erivo said.
She continued, &#8220;It isn&#8217;t easy to ask people to treat you with dignity, since you should just have it, because it&#8217;s a given. It isn&#8217;t easy to learn to grow who you are if the world around you is knocking at your door, telling you to stay inside. Some flowers bloom against all the odds, like the peony, but most flowers need to be tended to and cared for before they brave the light and open up their petals to the sun.&#8221;
&#8220;Here in this room, we&#8217;ve all been the recipients of a gift that is the opportunity to be more. I doubt that it has come easy to any of us, but more for some, the road has not been one paved with yellow bricks but instead paved with bumps and potholes − whichever road you have traveled, how beautiful it is that you&#8217;ve had a road to travel on at all. There are the invisible ones who have had no road at all.&#8221;
&#8220;We are all visible,&#8221; she concluded. &#8220;We can be seen… I ask every single one of you in this room, with the spaces that you&#8217;re in and the lights that you hold, to point it in the direction of someone who just needs a little guidance.&#8221;
Erivo faced significant backlash for her complaints and for saying anyone who uses neopronouns, which are usually gender-neutral or &#8220;nonbinary,&#8221; is “more.”

A new report from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/if-it-feels-like-lgbtq-characters-are-everywhere-on-tv-glaad-just-confirmed-it" target="_blank" rel="noopener">GLAAD</a> (Gay &amp; Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) claimed that there’s been a decrease in what it labeled LGBTQ representation in films, down from a high the previous year.
According to the advocacy group’s <a href="https://glaad.org/sri/2024/">2024 Studio Responsibility Index</a>, the study — which tracks the “quantity, quality and diversity” of LGBTQ characters in movies — found that of these 256 films in 2023, 70 contained an LGBTQ character. The report bemoaned that this was down from the 100 LGBTQ characters that appeared in 350 movies the organization tracked in 2022.
It looked at the movies from the ten major studios, listed as Netflix, The Walt Disney Studios, A24, Amazon Studios, Warner Bros. Discover, Apple TV+, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, Paramount Global, Sony, and their subsidiaries, GLAAD noted.

The report analyzed how each of these studios did representing the LGBTQ community and the results are pretty shocking. Despite having numerous films that fit this criteria, GLAAD gave most an “insufficient” or “fair” rating.
For example, Walt Disney, who it said produced 14 “LGBTQ-inclusive” films out of 37, was given an “insufficient” score. A24 created 5 “LGBTQ-inclusive” films out of just 16 movies, and also was considered “insufficient.”
In one section of the report, the organization bemoaned the fact that there hadn’t been enough LGBTQ characters in kids/family entertainment, writing that “the overall lack of representation in the kids and family genre is disappointing.”
“Last year, GLAAD called for more representation in this area, and rather than stepping up, studios told even fewer LGBTQ stories in kids and family films this year,” it added.
Earlier this year, The “Where We Are on TV” report from GLAAD noted that 468 LGBT characters appeared on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/television">TV shows</a> last year compared to 596 the previous year, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lgbt-character-representation-on-tv-decreases-again-per-glaad-report">reported</a>. It found that 36% of those characters would not be returning for the upcoming season.
GLAAD reported 39 LGBT regulars on 64 primetime series, representing a decrease of 44% (31 characters) compared to the previous year. However, this reduction could be partly due to fewer primetime shows across the spectrum.
On cable, the watchdog organization noted 77 LGBT characters, a 45% drop from last year. Those 77 will be further reduced next year as 38 will leave due to canceled shows or characters dying or being written off. 
Despite recent decreases, LGBTQ representation has definitely increased since the first <a href="https://glaad.org/sri/2013/">Studio Responsibility Index</a> report in 2013. At that time, 14 films out of the 101 it looked at from major studios in the 2012 calendar year, “contained characters identified as lesbian, gay or bisexual. There were no films containing transgender characters.&#8221;

The advocacy group <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/glaad">GLAAD</a> (Gay &amp; Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) just released its 19th annual <a href="https://glaad.org/glaads-19th-where-we-are-on-tv-study-shows-decline-in-lgbtq-characters-and-stories-but-reinforces-opportunities-networks-streamers-have-to-grow-inclusive-programming-for-the-most-diverse-audiences-ever/">report</a> on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lgbt">LGBT</a> characters in television shows for the 2023-2024 season, noting a decrease in representation for the second year in a row.
The “Where We Are on TV” report noted that 468 LGBT characters appeared on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/television">TV shows</a> last year compared to 596 the previous year. It found that 36% of those characters would not be returning for the upcoming season.
GLAAD reported 39 LGBT regulars on 64 primetime series, representing a decrease of 44% (31 characters) compared to the previous year. However, this reduction could be partly due to fewer primetime shows across the spectrum.
On cable, the watchdog organization noted 77 LGBT characters, a 45% drop from last year. Those 77 will be further reduced next year as 38 will leave due to canceled shows or characters dying or being written off. 
The GLAAD study also found that the number of transgender characters decreased from 32 to 24 for the 2023-2024 TV season. It also found 72 fewer “characters of color,” with 232 total. 
“GLAAD’s Where We Are on TV study found a number of concerning decreases across the board in the past two years, alongside a changing industry on all fronts which is seeing increased vertical integration and contracting budgets and staff,” Megan Townsend, GLAAD senior director of entertainment research and analysis, said of the study results.
Despite recent decreases, LGBT representation has increased dramatically since the “Where We Are on TV” report began. The organization reported a 1276% increase, with 13.7x more LGBT characters on television compared to the 1996-97 season.

GLAAD president and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said networks should continue to cast LGBT characters.
“We know that LGBTQ-inclusive series can indeed be successful, as demonstrated by shows like ‘The Last of Us’ and ‘Yellowjackets,’” Ellis said in response to the findings. “We know it is imperative for the queer community, especially transgender people, to see our lives reflected on screen to counteract the misinformation and harmful rhetoric going unchecked by politicians and journalists. And we know that younger audiences are hungry for shows that truly reflect the world around them.”

LGBT Character Representation On TV Decreases Again, Per GLAAD Report

The NFL announced it would host &#8220;A Night of Pride with GLAAD&#8221; during the week of festivities in Las Vegas leading up to Super Bowl LVIII on February 7.
In a <a href="https://nflcommunications.com/Pages/NFL-Continues-Commitment-to-LGBTQ-Community-with-%E2%80%9CA-Night-of-Pride-with-GLAAD%E2%80%9D-presented-by-Smirnoff-at-Super-Bowl-LVIII.aspx">press release</a>, the league highlighted its partnership with the Gay &amp; Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) to host the third annual event sponsored by Smirnoff. GLAAD has been a vocal supporter of groups like &#8220;Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence,&#8221; an LGBTQ-related nonprofit that incorporates religious imagery into its drag performances, where members dress like nuns. Critics say the group mocks the Catholic faith.

GLAAD made headlines last year when it slammed the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/read-it-dodgers-pitcher-issues-powerful-statement-against-his-own-team-for-inviting-anti-catholic-group">Los Angeles Dodgers</a> after the team rescinded an invitation to &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/boycott-the-dodgers-catholic-bishops-finally-fighting-back-against-anti-catholic-hate-group">Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence&#8221;</a> to participate in its Pride Night celebration. The Dodgers were responding to a backlash accusing the group of acts of sacrilege and mocking Catholicism.
&#8220;Let me be clear. This is NOT inclusion,&#8221; Tony Morrison, the Senior Director of Communications for GLAAD, <a href="https://twitter.com/THETonyMorrison/status/1659191458224545792?s=20">wrote</a> on social media at the time.
&#8220;LGBTQ rights and inclusion are rooted in protest and education,&#8221; he added. &#8220;If you claim to stand for queer rights and joy yet fear controversy, get out of the way for others to do it right.&#8221;
In the end, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/what-i-saw-at-dodger-stadium-ordinary-catholics-standing-up-for-their-faith">Dodgers</a> reversed course and did end up <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/large-group-protests-dodgers-pride-night-sparse-crowd-watches-drag-nuns-get-honored">honoring</a> the group with a Community Hero Award.

The executives at the Walt Disney Company almost certainly hoped that its newest animated film, &#8220;Wish,&#8221; would represent a culmination of 100 years of pop culture ascendancy — a hit on the level of &#8220;Beauty and the Beast&#8221; or &#8220;The Little Mermaid.&#8221;
The movie&#8217;s style, story, and songs all deliberately <a href="https://variety.com/2023/artisans/news/wish-disney-references-snow-white-fairy-godmother-1235789256/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pay homage</a> to those great classics of yesteryear in an attempt to garner as much nostalgic goodwill as possible for the company&#8217;s centennial.
Instead, it seems more likely that &#8220;Wish&#8221; will capstone another year of box office disappointments for the House of Mouse.
In the past, the Thanksgiving holiday weekend has been a great success for Disney. &#8220;Frozen&#8221; was released on November 22, 2013, took in $67 million during opening weekend, and eventually grossed over $1.2 billion at the box office. Its sequel, &#8220;Frozen II,&#8221; was released on the same day in 2019, achieved a whopping $130 million opening weekend and $1.4 billion overall, becoming the second highest-grossing animated film of all time (after Disney&#8217;s own &#8220;live action&#8221; remake of &#8220;The Lion King&#8221;).
In contrast, &#8220;Wish&#8221; was projected to pull in a lower but still respectable $45-$50 million from November 22-26, but only ended up with an anemic $31.6 million, <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/box-office-wish-thanksgiving-1235683915/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The Hollywood Reporter. 2021&#8217;s &#8220;Encanto,&#8221; which was heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and overall underperformed at the box office, still managed to take in roughly $40 million in its debut.

&#8220;Wish&#8221; was beaten handily by &#8220;The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,&#8221; the 5th entry in a franchise whose last installment debuted nearly a decade ago. That movie took in over $42 million over the holiday weekend. And it was even edged out at the box office by Ridley Scott&#8217;s &#8220;Napoleon,&#8221; a nearly 3-hour behemoth that has received only <a href="https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/napoleon_2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lukewarm reviews</a> from both audiences and critics.
ScreenRant <a href="https://screenrant.com/wish-movie-box-office-second-weekend-disney-comparison/#:~:text=Summary,a%2064%25%20drop%2C%20worse%20than" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that the film&#8217;s second weekend will be an even bigger disaster, with only $7 million at the box office, making &#8220;Wish&#8221; an almost guaranteed flop.
Another animated film released in 2023 under the Disney umbrella, Pixar&#8217;s &#8220;Elemental,&#8221; initially lagged at the box office, garnering only $27 million during its opening weekend in June. Eventually, the movie barely managed to break even, making $495 million worldwide on a $200 million budget, but still well behind pre-pandemic Pixar releases. It should be noted that a film generally needs to make 2.5x its budget to be considered profitable. This is a massive problem for &#8220;Wish,&#8221; which also had a budget of around $200 million and a worse opening weekend than &#8220;Elemental.&#8221;
Disney&#8217;s last animated November release, 2022&#8217;s &#8220;Strange World,&#8221; only took in a dismal $18 million during its opening weekend and barely made half of its reported budget ($135-$180 million).
Disney&#8217;s live action movies have fared <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/carolinereid/2023/08/04/the-four-flops-of-2023-that-cost-disney-1-billion/?sh=3d62d5da3bed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">even worse</a> in 2023. &#8220;Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania,&#8221; &#8220;Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,&#8221; &#8220;Haunted Mansion,&#8221; &#8220;The Marvels,&#8221; and the live action remake of &#8220;The Little Mermaid&#8221; cost over a billion dollars to make (that doesn&#8217;t include post-production and advertising costs), and all of them <a href="https://twitter.com/PAHAU6/status/1729451668276723796" target="_blank" rel="noopener">flopped hard</a>.

A major reason for Disney&#8217;s recent spate of commercial flops is its full-throated embrace of leftist social causes, particularly LGBT ideology. The company has practically become the industry leader in pushing leftist propaganda on kids. GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/why-the-magic-is-leaving-the-kingdom-at-disney" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> in October that Disney is one the top companies in Hollywood for LGBT-inclusive content. Top-ranking employees within the company <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/not-at-all-secret-gay-agenda-disney-employees-break-down-adding-queerness-to-shows-and-degenderizing-theme-parks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">have admitted</a> that they are pushing a &#8220;not-at-all-secret gay agenda&#8221; with their programming.
However, the backlash from conservatives has been just as robust as leftists&#8217; praise. According to a Rasmussen Reports survey released in early October, 60% of Republicans hold an unfavorable view of Disney, including 35% who say they have a “very unfavorable” opinion.
Both the Ant-Man and Indiana Jones sequels were torched by fans for seemingly trying to replace their titular heroes with younger female counterparts. In &#8220;Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania,&#8221; Ant-Man&#8217;s daughter <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ant-man-and-the-wasp-quantumania-cant-hide-disneys-fake-populism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has become</a> a teenage activist fighting against oppression and eventually acquires a super-powered suit similar to her father&#8217;s. In the latest Indiana Jones movie, Indy&#8217;s goddaughter Helena is also an archeologist on the hunt for rare artifacts and when she is <a href="https://screenrant.com/indiana-jones-movie-woke-controversy-dial-destiny-explained/#:~:text=The%20fifth%20Indiana%20Jones%20movie%20faced%20controversy%20over%20its%20%22woke,attitudes%20in%20the%20movie's%20setting." target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused</a> of stealing items from native people, she quips, &#8220;it&#8217;s called capitalism.&#8221;
Two of Disney&#8217;s animated films released in 2022, &#8220;Lightyear&#8221; (another flop) and &#8220;Strange World,&#8221; were pilloried by conservatives for pushing LGBT themes. &#8220;Lightyear&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-pixar-reinstates-same-sex-kiss-in-lightyear-film-over-so-called-dont-say-gay-bill-source-shares" target="_blank" rel="noopener">included</a> a same-sex kiss between two female characters, which was initially omitted from the film but was reinstated by Disney after Florida passed a bill banning classroom discussion on sexual orientation and gender identity for young children. &#8220;Strange World&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/animated-gay-teen-romance-film-is-woke-disneys-latest-box-office-bomb" target="_blank" rel="noopener">upped the ante</a> by introducing Disney&#8217;s first canonically gay main character, whose romance with another boy is a major plotline. The movie also pushed a hamfisted environmentalist message.
It&#8217;s other animated movie released last year, &#8220;Turning Red,&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/my-panda-my-choice-mom-disney-and-pixars-turning-red-has-some-parents-outraged-over-themes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">was criticized</a> for having sexual themes and a line echoing the pro-abortion &#8220;my body, my choice&#8221; mantra.
Disney movies that haven&#8217;t even come out yet are already getting blasted for catering to the woke crowd. The company&#8217;s live action remake of &#8220;Snow White&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-worst-woke-kids-content-that-came-out-since-last-thanksgiving" target="_blank" rel="noopener">made headlines</a> for the wrong reasons after star Rachel Zegler made disparaging comments about the 1937 classic, which was also the company&#8217;s first full-length animated film.
“I just mean that it’s no longer 1937,” Zegler said of the new film. “We absolutely wrote a ‘Snow White’ [who’s] not going to be saved by the prince, and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love; she’s going to be dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be, and the leader that her late father told her she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave and true.”

After it was revealed that the iconic seven dwarfs had been reimagined as &#8220;seven magical creatures&#8221; who didn&#8217;t resemble the original characters at all, Disney backtracked on their design in the face of intense backlash.
In the wake of all the bad press, the studio <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disneys-snow-white-delay-reportedly-comes-from-fears-it-will-be-a-financial-disaster-insider-says" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushed the project</a> to 2025.
While &#8220;Wish&#8221; hasn&#8217;t received nearly as much scrutiny as other Disney movies of the last couple of years, some have pointed out that its central theme could be problematic. Daily Wire co-founder and Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hollywood-struggles-over-holiday-with-disney-and-apple-duds" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pointed out</a> that &#8220;It seems that the plot is, essentially, about how God is bad. So, what it is is a king [who] grants people’s wishes, but he has an apprentice … and this apprentice finds out that the king is only selectively granting people’s wishes, and is picking and choosing.&#8221;
“This is a terrible, terrible thing — she will grant everyone’s wishes!” he added sarcastically. “Which, you don’t have to go far afield to understand that what that kind of is is, ‘God is bad because he said no to you sometimes.’ So it would be better if there were an empowered female character to get up and make sure that all wishes be granted across the board.”
While Disney&#8217;s animated films have struggled this year, its main competitors thrived — and largely stayed out of politics. Sony Pictures Animation, DreamWorks, and Illumination (the latter two owned by NBC Universal) have all seen massive hits in 2023 with &#8220;Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse&#8221; ($690 million), &#8220;Puss in Boots: The Last Wish&#8221; ($484 million), and &#8220;The Super Mario Bros. Movie&#8221; ($1.3 billion), respectively.

Sony&#8217;s &#8220;Across the Spider-Verse&#8221; did garner attention after some fans <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/did-sony-make-gwen-stacy-trans-in-new-spider-man-film" target="_blank" rel="noopener">speculated</a> that several minute details in the movie suggested one of the main characters, Gwen Stacy, was transgender, but ultimately the backlash against the alleged insinuation pales in comparison to what Disney has faced over the past couple of years.
Overall, the successes of those films in 2023 indicate that there is still a robust demand for kids&#8217; animated content — especially content that doesn&#8217;t proselytize to children about the latest Left-wing social causes.
And Disney CEO Bob Iger seems to realize that fact. In the wake of &#8220;Wish&#8217;s&#8221; disastrous opening weekend, Iger <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2023/11/30/disney-ceo-bob-iger-says-movies-have-been-too-focused-on-messaging.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> during a Wednesday appearance at the DealBook Summit in New York that &#8220;Creators lost sight of what their No. 1 objective needed to be. We have to entertain first. It’s not about messages.”
Whether Disney can recover and regain its pre-eminent position in the world of animation before its repeated commercial flops take a severe financial toll on the company or a new competitor overtakes them remains to be seen. But The Walt Disney Company is undoubtedly reeling from its choice to put politics before profit — and good storytelling.

It&#8217;s almost like the holiday was invented as a form of performance art by someone who wants to expose the gender cult and demonstrate how absurd the whole thing is. In fact, that&#8217;s not a completely inaccurate way to describe the origins of National Coming Out Day. I&#8217;ll get to that in a second.
But first, it&#8217;s important to make clear that this holiday was not some fringe event that no one observed. The White House held a <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2023/10/12/readout-of-white-house-meeting-with-latino-lgbtqi-leaders/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">meeting</a> with &#8220;Latino LGBTQI+ leaders&#8221; to mark National Coming Out Day. Various media outlets and social media personalities promoted it. The largest school system in the city of Los Angeles <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/article/but-johnny-cant-spell-g-a-y" target="_blank" rel="noopener">decided</a> to hold an entire week of events to celebrate National Coming Out Day, which doesn&#8217;t even really make sense, since it&#8217;s supposed to last just one day.
In any event, the idea behind this day (or week) of celebration is, of course, to encourage young people to tell everyone that they&#8217;re gay, or trans, or non-binary or one of the other infinite sexual identities. Apparently, there was no way that people could do that during Pride month, or International Pronouns Day, or the Trans Day of Remembrance, or International Lesbian Day which was also this week, or any of the other dozens of days on the calendar set aside for LGBT people. They need a separate day, just for &#8220;coming out,&#8221; in mid-October. And this past Wednesday, we&#8217;re led to believe, a bunch of people did just that, for the first time in their lives. They announced, to the whole world, that they&#8217;re an L, or a G, or a B, or a T, or maybe a +.
So what happened next? What grand consequences resulted from this momentous event? Well, that&#8217;s the good part. As far as I can tell from reviewing all the available data on this, literally nothing happened. There was no discernible response whatsoever. There were no reports that anyone was beaten in the aftermath of National Coming Out Day. No one was fired from their job for proudly declaring on social media that they&#8217;re a non-binary or a pansexual. No homosexuals were suspiciously crushed by pianos. The world just kept on turning, and no one cared.

That&#8217;s why I&#8217;m finally getting around to celebrating National Coming Out day, a couple days late. In one fell swoop, this holiday has completely debunked every Left-wing narrative of &#8220;LGBTQ oppression&#8221; that we&#8217;ve been force-fed for the past several years. Consider that it was just a few months ago that we were told by the so-called &#8220;Human Rights Campaign&#8221; that there&#8217;s a &#8220;nationwide state of emergency&#8221; because, as they say, &#8220;LGBTQ+ people&#8221; are endangered. So, there&#8217;s a nationwide state of emergency because there are real, tangible and dangerous threats to the &#8220;LGBT community.&#8221; That was just four months ago. And then, despite those threats, this week these same activist organizations told everyone to publicly announce that they&#8217;re part of this victimized club. 
And a lot of people did heed that call. In fact, NBC News just <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/nbc-out-proud/national-coming-day-10-celebrities-came-2023-far-rcna119788" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published</a> an entire list of celebrities who came out of the closet — not just on National Coming Out Day, but throughout the year 2023. This happens every year, and every year there are more and more. Some of them are coming out for the second and third time. Some are coming out as sexualities that don&#8217;t mean anything, like Wayne Brady declaring he&#8217;s &#8220;pansexual.&#8221; And yet none of these people — the celebrities, the random kids on social media — none of them have faced any consequences whatsoever. No one responded to them with bigotry or violence or any of that.
Does anyone in the corporate media or at the Human Rights Campaign think that&#8217;s a bit odd? You&#8217;d think they&#8217;d actually be thrilled by this news. Despite a supposed nationwide terror campaign against LGBTQ+ folks, a bunch of people just publicly declared their sexual orientation or gender identity or whatever. And they somehow survived the week, totally unscathed. How could this be?
If you listen to what these activists are saying this week, you won&#8217;t get an answer to that question. They won&#8217;t grapple with any of this. But you will get a very clear window into how they think, and how effortlessly they will lie to you. 
Here, for example, is one representative of the so-called Human Rights Campaign, doing the rounds on local news stations to promote National Coming Out Day. And as part of his schtick, he explains that the murder of Matthew Sheppard in 1998 is one of the reasons that the organization is so adamant about promoting National Coming Out Day. Here’s the clip:

If you parse what the anchor lady and the H.R.C. spokesman are saying, it becomes very clear what&#8217;s going on. Neither one of them explicitly states that Matthew Sheppard was murdered because he was gay. They imply it, but they don&#8217;t come out and say it.
What that tells you is that they know they&#8217;re lying. I&#8217;ve talked about this case before. But the basic facts of this case are completely different from what the leftists at H.R.C. and the corporate media will tell you. Many years ago, an investigative journalist named Stephen Jimenez <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/oct/26/the-truth-behind-americas-most-famous-gay-hate-murder-matthew-shepard" target="_blank" rel="noopener">looked into</a> the Matthew Sheppard case. He found that Sheppard was a high-value meth dealer and prostitute who was killed by one of his gay lovers. So the whole narrative lionizing Matthew Sheppard — which Bill Clinton and the entire news media pushed at the time — was false. And yet, decades later, activists are *still* citing his case, and implying he was murdered because he was gay.
All of corporate media is doing the same thing. The other day, the Associated Press ran an <a href="https://apnews.com/article/matthew-shepard-lgbtq-rights-db6142ccc885a86dde5e4eeb9f42b539" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> — which was picked up by NBC News and other outlets — stating that the death of Matthew Shepard &#8220;has been memorialized as an egregious hate crime.&#8221; Again, they&#8217;re playing with language. They know Matthew Shepard&#8217;s death wasn&#8217;t a hate crime. But they &#8216;re telling you it was &#8220;memorialized&#8221; as one, and then they&#8217;re refusing to give you the context. It’s actually a clever trick. Even I would have to admit that the statement is true. It was indeed memorialized as a hate crime. It’s just that it wasn’t actually a hate crime.
So what is the point of all these lies? They&#8217;re lying about the dangers face by &#8220;LGBTQ youth.&#8221; They &#8216;re lying about Matthew Sheppard. What&#8217;s the goal? Where is this all leading to? A year ago, the president and CEO of GLAAD, in her attempt to promote National Coming Out Day, spilled the beans. Here&#8217;s her explanation of what this whole charade is all about.

Don&#8217;t just come out, says the CEO of one of the largest gay activist groups on the planet. Come out to vote, too! It&#8217;s so unbelievably transparent. They can&#8217;t hide it. This isn&#8217;t about anyone&#8217;s sexuality or oppression or whatever. It&#8217;s about marshaling more votes for the Democratic Party. It’s about reinforcing the Left’s ideological stranglehold on the culture. It’s as simple and cynical as that.
To be fair, later in that interview, this same woman — the CEO of GLAAD — does attempt to offer another reason as to why National Coming Out Day is so important. And she manages to dig an even deeper hole for herself in the process. Really, she completely blows up the whole premise of &#8220;National Coming Out Day&#8221; without even realizing it. Watch:

Well, the two of you don’t have two children. One of you has children. But let’s not get technical. 
What this GLAAD woman is otherwise describing is normal human interaction. It’s not &#8220;coming out.&#8221; So, the entire idea of &#8220;National Coming Out Day,&#8221; according to the CEO of GLAAD, is really complete nonsense. It&#8217;s designed to solve a problem that doesn&#8217;t even exist. These people aren&#8217;t even pretending to be persecuted; they&#8217;re just complaining about having to introduce themselves. So it&#8217;s reasonable to ask, how did this fake holiday even come about in the first place? Who came up with this idea?
Elsewhere in that interview, the GLAAD CEO briefly goes into some detail about the history of National Coming Out Day. She lies about it, so there&#8217;s no point in showing it to you. But if you dig into National Coming Out Day, you&#8217;ll find that it was founded by a woman named Jean O&#8217;Leary. Who is Jean O&#8217;Leary? She was a feminist who really didn&#8217;t like transvestites or drag queens. We don&#8217;t have to guess about that. She said it on film at a rally in 1973. Watch:

A few seconds later, Jean O&#8217;Leary was forced off the stage by a couple of guys in drag. There&#8217;s a lot of feminist gibberish in there, but the substance of what she said is worth repeating: 
<blockquote>We are opposed to the exploitation of women by men for entertainment or profit. &#8230; Men have been telling us who we are for all our lives. &#8230; Men have never been able to show us ourselves.</blockquote>
This is what the founder of National Coming Out Day stood for, just a few decades ago. Men with fetishes are not, in fact, women. That&#8217;s what she&#8217;s saying and she could not have been clearer.
Of course, later in life, she recanted, and bent the knee. But this is what she stood for. Now the gender cult is papering over that little inconsistency. They&#8217;re lying about the history of this fake holiday, just like they lie about what happened at Stonewall, just like they lie about Matthew Sheppard, just like they lie about the &#8220;national state of emergency&#8221; facing their supposedly marginalized fanbase, just like they lie about literally everything all the time.
They&#8217;re lying so much, and so desperately, because the truth could not be clearer. The LGBT club is not oppressed. A country does not have 50 fake holidays to celebrate a group of people it is oppressing. Celebrities do not go out of their way to be a part of a truly marginalized and bullied community. A club does not grow in membership so rapidly if being in the club is a ticket to persecution. No, it goes the opposite way. For the individual, identifying as LGBT means social capital and cultural influence. For the Powers That Be, the more people who identify as LGBT, the more votes they get, the more power they wield.
This is what it’s all about, and has always been about. And now, that couldn’t be more clear.

Elon Musk called for an investigation into far-left groups that are reportedly pressuring advertisers on Twitter to boycott the platform if Musk rolls back the platform&#8217;s content moderation policies.
&#8220;Some of the nation&#8217;s biggest brands including Coca-Cola (CCEP), Disney (DIS) and Kraft (KHC) are facing calls to boycott Twitter if the company&#8217;s soon-to-be owner, billionaire Elon Musk, rolls back content moderation policies limiting hate speech and election misinformation,&#8221; CNN <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/03/tech/twitter-letter-content-policies/index.html">reported</a>. &#8220;In a letter sent to brands Tuesday ahead of the 2022 NewFronts digital advertising conference, more than two dozen civil society groups said marketers should secure commitments from Twitter to retain its most critical policies, including on civic integrity and hateful conduct, and threaten to withdraw funding if Twitter does not comply.&#8221;
Some of the far-Left groups that signed onto the letter include Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, GLAAD, Media Matters For America, NARAL Pro-Choice America, and the Women&#8217;s March.
The letter stated in-part:
<blockquote>As top advertisers on Twitter, your brand risks association with a platform amplifying hate, extremism, health misinformation, and conspiracy theorists. Under Musk’s management, Twitter risks becoming a cesspool of misinformation, with your brand attached, polluting our information ecosystem in a time where trust in institutions and news media is already at an all-time low. Your ad dollars can either fund Musk’s vanity project or hold him to account. We call on you to demand Musk uphold these basic standards of community trust and safety, and to pull your advertising spending from Twitter if they are not.</blockquote>
&#8220;Who funds these organizations that want to control your access to information? Let’s investigate …&#8221; Musk responded in a tweet. &#8220;Sunlight is the best disinfectant.&#8221;
The letter comes after Twitter’s board of directors unanimously approved an acquisition by Musk last week in a $44 billion sale valued at $54.20 per share.
&#8220;Attacks are coming thick and fast, primarily from the left, which is no surprise, however I should be clear that the right will probably be a little unhappy too,&#8221; Musk said last week in reference to the response his purchase of the platform had generated. &#8220;My goal is to maximize area under the curve of total human happiness, which means the ~80% of people in the middle.&#8221;
Musk added in a separate tweet, “For Twitter to deserve public trust, it must be politically neutral, which effectively means upsetting the far right and the far left equally.”

Top Disney execs aren’t the only ones who want more LGBT content in children’s programming. Gay &amp; Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) CEO Sarah Kate Ellis made her thoughts clear during the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles over the weekend, Variety <a href="https://variety.com/2022/film/news/disney-dont-say-gay-glaad-ceo-warning-1235221936/">reported</a>. (Disclosure: The Daily Wire has announced plans to release children&#8217;s entertainment content.)
“Don’t wait until you’re in the hot seat,” Ellis told the audience, referencing the recent media meltdown over Disney’s stance on the Parental Rights in Education Bill, which just passed in Florida. “There’s no more time to sit on the sidelines. We need Hollywood on the front lines, fighting for our rights and telling our stories.”
The organization’s leader went on to describe how not only were they advocating for more LGBT representation in the media, but also that they wanted it specifically in programming targeted at young audiences.
Ellis implored Hollywood “to take meaningful action and will soon convene the biggest brands, agencies, studios and streamers together with two goals: one, to commit to improving the quantity, quality and diversity of LGBTQ images, especially in kids and family programming. And, two, to speak out against anti-LGBTQ legislation in favor of rights like the Equality Act.”
After celebrating some wins LGBT lobbyists made in the culture, including their increased presence on TikTok, Ellis insisted that the activism was far from over. 
“In just one day, on March 8, the Florida Senate passed the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, which was signed into law this past week,” she continued. 
“The South Dakota Senate passed a bill that bans discussion of ‘divisive concepts’ like race and sex in college courses. The Idaho House of Representatives passed a bill that would send librarians to jail if they let minors check out books that include LGBTQ topics. And the New Jersey Supreme Court denied an appeal that would bar a religious organization from offering so-called ‘conversion therapy.&#8217; This all happened not in one month, not in one week, but all in one day,” Ellis concluded.
The GLAAD CEO’s final line came across as a threat to audience members.
“I expect every industry executive in this room to join us. GLAAD will give you the playbook. But we wont give you a pass,” she said.
These remarks come after leaked videos from a Disney all-hands meeting showcased their goals for kids’ content. The Daily Wire originally <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/not-at-all-secret-gay-agenda-disney-employees-break-down-adding-queerness-to-shows-and-degenderizing-theme-parks">reported</a> on how footage showed Disney Executive Producer Latoya Raveneau referring to what she described as her “not-at-all-secret gay agenda,” plus Disney Corporate President Karey Burke urging the company to add more LGBTQIA lead characters to upcoming projects.
“We have many, many, many LGBTQIA characters in our stories and yet we don’t have enough leads, a narrative in which gay characters just — just get to be characters and not have to be about gay stories,” she said.

GLAAD CEO Demands More LGBT Stories For Hollywood, ‘Especially In Kids And Family Programming’

Jesse Singal, who has been targeted by the transgender community after writing a fact-based <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2018/07/when-a-child-says-shes-trans/561749/">cover story</a> for The Atlantic on transitioning children, recently <a href="https://jessesingal.substack.com/p/glaad-took-false-previously-disproven">explained</a> on his Substack how GLAAD used false information about to him to add him to a kind of hate list akin to that of the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Rather than engage with Singal’s arguments, activists have insisted he is transphobic and called it a day. As Singal demonstrated, GLAAD appears to have taken this tactic when adding him to a list of people it claims “spread misinformation and harm LGBTQ people.”
GLAAD made three separate claims about Singal, which he disputed point by point in his Substack post. The first claim was that Singal “<a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2018/07/when-a-child-says-shes-trans/561749/">Wrote—without evidence—in a cover story for The Atlantic, that</a>  “Trauma, particularly sexual trauma, can contribute to or exacerbate [gender] dysphoria in some patients.” As Singal explained, he has already addressed criticism of this line, noting that those who criticize him for it “are completely unfamiliar with the literature on gender dysphoria and rarely, if ever, talk to the youth gender clinicians I’ve spent dozens of hours interviewing and otherwise interacting with.”
One of the clinicians Singal quotes is Diane Ehrensaft, a hero in the LGBT community, who wrote in her 2011 book “Gender Born, Gender Made: Raising Healthy Gender-nonconforming Children” that children do, sometimes, develop gender dysphoria after trauma.
“There are also children who suddenly show up with a gender issue after a trauma and with no previous history of gender bending. Here, too, we may be seeing children who are expressing other troubles through gender. For example, the three-year-old who suddenly announces that he is a girl after losing his mother to sudden death may be in a desperate emotional search to reclaim his lost mother by becoming her, rather than in a journey toward discovering his true gender self,” Ehrensaft wrote in her book.
Singal noted that Ehrensaft made similar comments in her second book as well.
The second claim from GLAAD is that Singal “Admitted to wildly misinterpreting a study on trans kids that he relied on for the article. Singal had wrongly claimed that adolescent patients who did not return to a clinic for gender dysphoria had ‘desisted’ and no longer desired to change genders.”
Singal explained that this claim is based on a falsehood that has been circulating online for years. In 2018, Singal <a href="https://medium.com/@jesse.singal/everyone-myself-included-has-been-misreading-the-single-biggest-study-on-childhood-gender-8b6b3d82dcf3">wrote</a> a Medium post about misreading “the single biggest published study on childhood gender dysphoria desistance and persistence.” He later updated the title to say the study “offers stronger evidence for desistance than we thought” because people like those at GLAAD didn’t read the article and simply assumed he was admitting to including wrong information in his article. GLAAD, despite claiming that its list includes members’ own words, linked to a Daily Dot article that completely twisted Singal’s admission about misinterpreting the study. The Daily Dot insisted that he misinterpreted the study and therefore children do not desist from gender dysphoria, when in fact, Singal’s misreading of the study showed the exact opposite.
The final claim from GLAAD is that Singal “Parrots the notion of ‘<a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2018/07/when-a-child-says-shes-trans/561749/">social contagion</a>’ [sic] the baseless theory that kids are somehow being ‘influenced by the gender-identity exploration they’re seeing online and perhaps at school or in other social settings, rather than experiencing gender dysphoria.’” By the time Singal posted his Substack piece, GLAAD had changed the claim to read: “Explains the unproven theory of ‘social contagion’ [sic] the unproven theory…”
Singal quoted his own Atlantic article, which included information from “a leading gender clinician, a young trans man, and a former trans boy” who all said the same thing: They have seen instances where some people seem to be claiming they are transgender simply for social reasons.
