The Rousey vs. Carano <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gina-carano-vs-ronda-rousey-netflix-announces-first-ever-live-mma-event">fight</a> proved that women are capable of being tough beasts and beauties. Despite some being upset that Ronda Rousey masterfully took down Gina Carano in the brief span of 17 seconds, I enjoyed the entire event. The lead-up fights were entertaining, and the headliners, two women, showed the best parts of womanhood.
The Krauss house hosted a small fight night watch party on Saturday night. We often do this, and even our girls like to watch, which was why it was pretty cool to show them that two ladies were the main card for Netflix’s MMA event. We are just a short drive to Intuit Dome, where over 14,000 fans paid top dollar for tickets to watch two female fighting legends face off.
It had been a while since the contenders had entered the Octagon. <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/ronda-rousey-destroys-gina-carano-042520436.html">Yahoo Sports</a> and other critics said the Netflix fights only pull people out of retirement. Maybe that’s true considering the champion of the night, Ronda Rousey, hadn’t fought since 2016. And conservative darling actress Gina Carano had not been in the Octagon since 2009.
Yet the lead-up to the fight was full of hype, probably due to the marketing genius of internet anti-hero Jake Paul’s production company, MVP. In all sports, especially fighting, the promotional lead-up is often full of smack talk and name-calling. But after the bell rings and the winner’s fist is raised, there are handshakes and hugs.
The display of raw emotion and admiration these women demonstrated on Saturday night was really inspiring. I’ve never witnessed a fight night end with open encouragement and support for the opponent. The competitors showed mutual respect that included laughing, hugging, and chatting after the winner was declared — mere seconds after an impressive armbar maneuver that could have broken the bones of the defeated fighter.

In no other fight have we witnessed a loser <a href="https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/story/sports/mma/2026/05/17/gina-carano-ronda-rousey-loss-victory-life-netflix/90134256007/">crediting</a> the victor for her personal and professional change and growth.
&#8220;I have so much love and respect for her,&#8221; Carano said in a post-fight interview. &#8220;This was a victory in my life. She changed it. I woke up every morning at 3 a.m. thinking about her. I took 100 pounds off of my body, which is going to give me a longer life. I fell back in love with mixed martial arts. There&#8217;s so many good things to think about here.&#8221;
And never has a man said after a win that he is going to have more babies while embracing his spouse.
Rousey instantly hugged and kissed her husband, heavyweight fighter <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/ronda-rousey-kisses-husband-travis-180040054.html?guccounter=1&amp;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&amp;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAALw1r4ymPDZffWUd4KjEkUOE9rmEn2hsedvxHcjjDE8umyFb55y4RSExsX3CImfHSjikMBmkFydXqmkuHapd0d4o3DV8Fjq1gZnWOFbjpG4bk2n5UmVnjaXDcSiE0of7LDUASjqhTEOW46MjdW83-cZ8tmGHk26Qy_kEVBjyGaDP">Travis Browne,</a> and said, “There&#8217;s no way I could&#8217;ve ended it better than this. I wanna have some more babies.”
The night also stood out for other reasons. The multiple male fighters preceding the main event showcased the need to protect women’s sports. Nate Diaz or Francis Ngannou would have destroyed the talented Rousey. But, in a woman-to-woman matchup, the fight was fair.
Women in all sports should be lauded and protected because these women prove that they are unique — and fun.
It takes emotional strength to succeed as a woman, wife, and mom. Our ability to nurture is a type of strength. The patience and repetitive challenge of marriage and motherhood take strength. Some mothers fight in the Octagon; others do so in politics, business, ministry, or education. We fight for our kids, for our communities, and for our country.
We can be competitive and kind. We can be loving and tough. We can be smart and sweet. We can be savvy and honest.
Women shouldn’t have to retreat or minimize who we are. We can display our femininity and differences from men, support those differences, and encourage them in ourselves and in the other women in our lives.
All women, even outside of the Octagon, are fighters.

Five years after Disney+ fired Gina Carano from “The Mandalorian” for expressing her opinion via social media posts, the actress and former MMA fighter is coming back into the spotlight, literally.
Netflix <a href="https://www.netflix.com/tudum/features/ronda-rousey-gina-carano-mma-live-on-netflix">announced on Monday</a> that Carano will face off against MMA competitor Ronda Rousey in a live, professionally sanctioned fight on Saturday, May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. The event marks Netflix&#8217;s first-ever mixed martial arts event and is being co-promoted by Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the combat sports company co-founded by Jake Paul.
The fight will take place at featherweight, 145 lbs, inside a hexagon cage instead of the traditional UFC octagon. The format will be up to five 5-minute rounds under the Unified Rules of MMA.
Carano holds an MMA record of 7-1 with wins by submission, knockout, and decision, and her earlier Muay Thai record is 12-1-1. She has not competed since 2009. Rousey has a 12-2 record, but has not competed in the sport in a decade following a WWE career.
“Been waiting so long to announce this: Me and Gina Carano are gonna throw down in the biggest super fight in women’s combat sport history!” Rousey <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/gina-carano-ronda-rousey-netflix-mma-fight-the-mandalorian-1236507548/">said</a> in a statement, per The Hollywood Reporter. “And we’re partnering with the fighter-first promotion MVP as well as the biggest and baddest streamer on the planet Netflix. This is for all MMA fans past, present and future. More to come… much more.”
“Ronda came to me and said there is only one person she would make a comeback for and it has been her dream to make this fight happen between us,” Carano said. “She thanked me for opening up doors for her in her career and was respectful in asking for this fight to happen. This is an honor. I believe I will walk out of this fight with the win and I anticipate it will not come easy, which I welcome. This is as much for Ronda and me as it is for the fans and mixed martial arts community. What a time to be alive.”
This un-cancellation comes just a few short years after Carano was abruptly fired from “The Mandalorian” in February 2021 after Lucasfilm objected to her social media posts.
The firing was widely condemned by conservatives as a case of Hollywood cancel culture. Carano filed a lawsuit against Disney alleging she was wrongfully terminated for her political beliefs.
Shortly after the high-profile termination, Carano partnered with The Daily Wire for a movie deal that resulted in the feature film “Terror on the Prairie,” which premiered in June 2022.

Anti-woke voices share a social media saying when sanity returns to the culture, be it acknowledging that sex sells in ads or proof that Cancel Culture is on the run.
Nature is healing.
That rings true regarding the saga of Gina Carano. The MMA standout-turned-action heroine had it all – a burgeoning career, the adoration of fans and a plum gig on Disney+’s “The Mandalorian.”
Then Disney fired her for “problematic” social media posts.
Carano just settled her lawsuit against the Mouse House with the suggestion that the two sides might work together on future projects. She didn’t land a knockout legal blow but staring down arguably the biggest company in Hollywood proved a victory all the same.
You might call it a healing moment.
She wasn’t destined for movie stardom, at least not during her MMA days. As fate would have it, Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh saw something in Carano while watching her on TV. He eventually crafted an action thriller around her beauty and brawn via 2011’s “<a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1506999/">Haywire</a>.”

The film <a href="https://www.boxofficemojo.com/title/tt1506999/?ref_=bo_se_r_1">wasn’t a smash</a>, but it proved she could act alongside established stars like Antonio Banderas, Channing Tatum, and Michael Fassbender. The Hollywood door creaked open.
She kept working on screen, landing notable roles in “Deadpool,” “Fast &amp; Furious 6” and “Extraction.”
And then came “The Mandalorian.” Disney finally got the “Star Wars” magic right with the TV series starring Pedro Pascal as the title character. She joined the cast as Cara Dune, a loner seeking vengeance against the Empire for terminating her home planet of Alderaan. She quickly became a fan favorite, and buzz began to build that Disney+ would spin off her character into her own show.
Carano says “Mandalorian” director Jon Favreau of “Iron Man” fame told her, <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/gina-carano-interview-madalorian-firing-elon-musk-disney-1235851597/">“your life is about to change.”</a>

She was this close to stardom, the kind young actors can only dream about. Except Carano didn’t follow Hollywood’s progressive playbook. She wasn’t openly conservative, but she began questioning COVID-19 protocols on social media, echoing the thoughts of many Americans but not the Legacy Media or the Left.
She pushed for election reform, noting how fellow Americans lacked trust in the current system. Once again, a fairly mainstream view was suddenly deemed out of bounds following President Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory over Donald Trump.
She considered putting up a black square following the death of George Floyd, but she didn’t want to follow the crowd with empty posturing.
Worst of all to the woke Left, she refused to put her pronouns in her social media bio, instead using a trio of silly words – Beep/Bop/Boop.
The Left went into a frenzy over that stunt, while she defended her actions as a stand against <a href="https://x.com/ginacarano/status/1305301756792860674">social media bullying</a>.

Carano later revealed that Team Disney stepped in, asking her to stop sharing her thoughts online. She added the company put her through media training and even wanted to set up a Zoom meeting between the starlet and <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/gina-carano-interview-madalorian-firing-elon-musk-disney-1235851597/">45 LGBTQ+ Disney employees</a>, all angry at her refusal to share her pronouns.
Carano declined the offer, instead suggesting she have dinner with a much smaller group to reach across the cultural aisle. They refused, she contends.
Disney seemingly craved an excuse to cut ties with Carano. The company got it when she shared a plea for tolerance that evoked Nazi Germany.

Disney used the post as a pretext for termination. Disney&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gina-carano-lucasfilm-which-fired-her-pushing-her-for-an-emmy">explanation for her dismissal</a> angered many fans.
<blockquote>Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.</blockquote>
One problem? The post did no such thing. Another problem? Fellow Disney stars said far worse on social media sans punishment. 
Many called out Pascal for a post comparing <a href="https://ewerickson.substack.com/p/meet-the-double-standard-in-cancel">Trump voters to Nazis.</a>
Left unsaid? Disney worked with Bette Midler on “Hocus Pocus 2” following Carano’s dismissal, but Midler’s social media posts can be <a href="https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/disney-cancel-bette-midler-hocus-pocus-2/">cruel and dehumanizing</a>.
Disney opted not to punish either star or put them through media training.
Carano stopped working in traditional Hollywood. She next starred in The Daily Wire’s original western “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/terror-on-the-prairie?row=0&amp;elementPosition=28&amp;rowType=Square+Show+Carousel">Terror on the Prairie</a>” – a deal signed days after Disney’s dismissal. She also landed a small part in “My Son Hunter,” a Breitbart original film about Hunter Biden directed by Robert Davi.

Her career appeared to be over, at least within official Hollywood corridors. Then Elon Musk caught wind of her story and offered to pay for Carano to sue Disney for wrongful termination.
That powerful backing made all the difference. <a href="https://people.com/gina-carano-settles-lawsuit-disney-mandalorian-firing-thanks-elon-musk-11787322">Disney’s official statement</a> following the settlement suggests she might return to the “Star Wars” galaxy at some point. A “Mandalorian” feature film is tentatively slated for a May 2026 release.

It’s unclear if Hollywood, still a relentlessly liberal enclave that discriminates against some conservatives, will hire Carano for new projects.
By standing firm and defending her right to speak freely, however, she can hold her head high no matter the direction her acting career takes from here.

Years after firing Gina Carano from the “Star Wars” spinoff “The Mandalorian” in 2021, Lucasfilm and the Walt Disney Company have settled their dispute.
“The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement, per <a href="https://variety.com/2025/biz/news/gina-carano-disney-settle-mandalorian-firing-1236481982/">Variety</a>. 
“Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect. With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future,” the statement continued.
Carano reacted to the settlement with a <a href="https://x.com/ginacarano/status/1953575719554232400">post</a> on X, thanking Elon Musk and her lawyers.  “I am humbled and grateful to God for His love and grace in this outcome,” she wrote. “I’d like to thank you all for your unrelenting support throughout my life and career, you’ve been the heartbeat that has kept my story alive. I hope to make you proud.”

Actress <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/gina-carano" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gina Carano</a> took the stage in Las Vegas to talk to supporters of former President Donald Trump and explained why it’s important to “speak even if your voice shakes.”
During the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuZX9Hd5jqU">Turning Point Action rally</a> on Thursday for Trump, Carano started out her speech pointing to celebrities who say they will leave the country if Trump wins the election and said, regardless of who wins on November 5, she will stay and fight for America.
She said she suspects those celebrities will end up leaving the country, too, if Vice President Kamala Harris wins, once the Democrats have “installed a government” that “seeks to destroy us.”

Later, she called on Trump supporters in Nevada to get out and vote and make the election an “overwhelming majority vote for Donald Trump.”

Actress <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/gina-carano" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gina Carano</a> celebrated on Thursday after Disney lost an effort to delay discovery in her wrongful termination lawsuit while appealing a previous decision to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Earlier this week, U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett denied Disney’s request for a stay of proceedings and interlocutory appeal, Deadline <a href="https://deadline.com/2024/10/disney-gina-carano-trial-2025-1236119451/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. In a post on <a href="https://x.com/ginacarano/status/1846935783543874007?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">X</a>, Carano &#8212; who filed a lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm three years after she was fired from the “Star Wars” spinoff series “The Mandalorian&#8221; &#8212; said that she was pleased her case against them could move forward after Disney’s appeal to delay the trial was denied. 
The star of the DailyWire+ film “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/terror-on-the-prairie">Terror on the Prairie</a>” filed a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gina-carano-sues-disney-after-elon-musk-offers-legal-help" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lawsuit</a> against the entertainment giant after it <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disney-cancels-gina-carano-over-tweets-while-ignoring-far-worse-from-others">cut ties</a> with her over what it deemed “offensive” social media posts. Carano&#8217;s lawsuit was prompted in part by an offer from Elon Musk, who <a href="https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1688022163574439937" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in August of 2023 that X would fund the legal bill of anyone who was “unfairly treated by your employer due to posting or liking something on this platform.”
“After the Judge DENIED Disney’s request to DISMISS my case, Disney requested permission to immediately appeal that decision to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and delay all discovery while that appeal takes place,” Carano wrote. “Yesterday, October 16th, 2024 we learned that the Judge DENIED Disney’s unusual request.”
“I am obviously very pleased with the opportunity to keep moving forward with the judicial process and into discovery,” she added. “While I wish this was not necessary as it is not my desire to be in this battle in court. I will not shrink away from it because it is hard or uncomfortable.&#8221;

Regarding Disney’s claims clashing with Carano’s, Judge Garnett asked, “Wouldn’t that suggest there’s a factual dispute as to why Disney actually terminated her?”

On Wednesday, actress Gina Carano, who starred in Disney’s “The Mandalorian” but was fired after she <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gina-carano-to-produce-and-star-in-upcoming-film-for-the-daily-wire" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> a screenshot of another social media post that warned of the current political climate resembling Nazi Germany, among other personal opinions, took a major step forward in her court case against Disney.
Shortly after the high-profile termination in 2021, The Daily Wire announced that it had partnered with the former mixed martial arts fighter for a movie deal that resulted in the feature film “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/terror-on-the-prairie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Terror on the Prairie</a>,” which premiered in June 2022.
Carano had filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against Disney — with financial assistance from Tesla CEO Elon Musk — and Disney responded by asking for the case to be dismissed on the basis of First Amendment rights, per The Hollywood Reporter. But Central District of California Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett ruled against Disney, <a href="https://deadline.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/disney-gina-carano-july-24-order.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stating</a>,

Where an organization claims protection under “the First Amendment’s expressive associational right,” a court “must determine whether the group engages in ‘expressive association.’”
Here, although [Disney] indisputably engage[s] in expressive activity—including, but certainly not limited to, producing and disseminating The Mandalorian—they have failed to establish that they engage in expressive association. Furthermore, at this stage in the litigation, the Court cannot conclude, as Defendants urge it to, that [Carano’s] continued employment by Defendants would inhibit or intrude upon Defendants’ rights to expressive association.

Carano told The Daily Wire that her &#8220;initial reaction&#8221; to the decision &#8220;was jumping up and down looking at my phone with the biggest smile on my face and yes maybe a bit of a squeal… and today I feel like I can fly.&#8221;
&#8220;This experience truly gives me more sympathy for anyone who has been demonized in this way,&#8221; she added. &#8220;I think this world is craving justice and transparency more than ever before and I believe America has a great opportunity in leading the way. America, take that opportunity please!&#8221;
Carano said the judge&#8217;s rejection of Disney&#8217;s motion to dismiss the lawsuit means &#8220;It&#8217;s game on. Moving forward into discovery.&#8221;
&#8220;We have a road ahead of us I won’t pretend will be easy as this is my first time in court and these things take time. But in the meantime, I’m getting back to work with a sense of liberation, determination, and discipline. I feel free to enjoy making art again or maybe I actually feel free for the first time to actually make my own art,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;My heart craves justice and at the same time, a desire to help bring the people who are hurting and lost comfort — not only my world got flipped upside down these past few years, and I want to bring those people hope. I am so tired of the division and hatred. Bring back treating each other like human beings again.&#8221;
After the judge issued her ruling, Carano also celebrated online, writing:

Carano thanked Musk, then cited an interview she did with Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro in February 2021: “At my lowest point. I was wounded and in so much pain, but I feel that pain lifting now. &#8230; God’s given me the ability to take some punches and give some back. My feet are on solid ground. Imagine what your voice can do.”
In the 2021 interview, Carano stated, “I read this somewhere. It’s like, ‘Don’t try to ruin my life with lies when your life can be ruined with the truth.’ You got billion-dollar companies raining down on me from every different place. And do I really even need to say anything? You’re showing it. You’re showing what you do to people. You’re showing you don’t give them a voice, you’re showing them you’re not gonna listen; you’re not going to see a person past what you read in a very skewed article. You’re showing what bullies you are against one voice here. One. &#8230; This is what they’re afraid of. They’re afraid of one voice. Imagine.”

Cuomo told the host Ivermectin was the “boogeyman” during COVID – which he conceded “was wrong.” He claimed they had just been “given bad information.” He also said Joe Rogan had gotten it right and “they were wrong to play scared on that” — but he did so without acknowledging that he was one of the people who had bullied others about it.

“You were just given wrong information right, ignoring and supporting the censorship of part of the legitimate medical community who were pushing back?” she added. “You say people were just resisting the government OR, had they seen and been vaccine injured and were asking legitimate questions, critically thinking like<a href="https://twitter.com/RobertKennedyJr"> Robert Kennedy Jr.</a> has been doing for years.”
“You were a part of one the most powerful news organizations in the world and you bullied and shamed the genuine questions from the public that you were supposed to be offering unbiased news to,” Carano continued. “Instead, you all called them ‘anti vaxxers’ and ‘alt right extremists.’ Don’t try and change the story now.”
The star of DW’s “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/terror-on-the-prairie">Terror on the Prairie</a>” pointed out that, at that time, people weren’t even “allowed to sit next to their loved ones as they died because of the propaganda” people like Cuomo had helped to spread. 
Carano said what Cuomo and others in the media did during the pandemic will go down in history “as one of the most embarrassing, destructive moments that cost people’s lives and careers, broke up families and destroyed our economy. You don’t  look like a hero now, you look arrogant with no idea how deep this goes for the people this destroyed.”
She included a screenshot of a Direct Message Cuomo sent to her dated Feb. 11, 2021. It was sent one day after she had been “fired, shamed and canceled” for voicing her concern about the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disney-fires-actress-gina-carano-after-post-comparing-hating-someone-over-politics-to-nazi-germany" target="_blank" rel="noopener">polarizing state</a> of our country as those who were questioning the propaganda about COVID were being treated as the enemy.
“Chris Cuomo CNN, would you like a chance to clarify where your head and heart are before you get defined permanently by others,” Cuomo’s DM read at the time.
Her post concluded with a direct question to Cuomo, “Gina Carano here, would you like a chance to clarify where your head and heart are before you get defined permanently by others.”

Almost no one in the country has a clearer or higher-profile claim to Elon Musk’s offer than the actress who became a breakout star on Disney’s hit Star Wars series, “The Mandalorian.”
In 2020, when Carano began sharing political opinions criticizing COVID mask mandates and poking good-natured fun at online bullies who demand others state their preferred pronouns, the studio forced her to undergo <a href="https://fandomwire.com/i-feel-like-thats-extremely-abusive-gina-carano-claims-lucasfilm-ordered-her-to-watch-trans-documentaries-attend-zoom-call-with-45-lgbtq-members/">reeducation training</a>. But when she suggested that Holocaust-era hatred might provide a cautionary tale for America’s increasing atmosphere of intolerance and division, the company fired her.

“They just dehumanized me,” said Carano.
In our interview for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/podcasts/morning-wire/border-bill-fails-nevada-primary-result-afternoon-update-2-7-24" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Morning Wire</a>, Carano speaks in soft tones that belie the tough fights — both <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Lc9eWglEI8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">literal</a> and <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/actress-gina-carano-defies-hollywood-vaccine-mandate-non-union-project-1639076" target="_blank" rel="noopener">figurative</a> — she’s been willing to take on over the course of her career.
“Basically, what Disney and Lucasfilm said to the rest of [the industry], is, ‘Hey, don&#8217;t work with this person.’ And, you know, who&#8217;s not gonna listen to Disney, the most powerful entertainment company in the world?”
Ironically, <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/02/11/see-gina-caranos-tweets-and-posts-that-got-her-fired/">the 2021 post</a> that proved to be Carano’s undoing was a screenshot of a meme meant to encourage acceptance of one another’s differences. Below an historical image of a gang of Nazi youngsters attacking a bloodied and fleeing Jewish woman, the caption read:

Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. Disney wildly mischaracterized the post, calling it “abhorrent and unacceptable,” claiming Carano had “denigrat[ed] people based on their cultural and religious identities.” But worse, Carano says news outlets like <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/11/arts/television/gina-carano-lucasfilm.html?smtyp=cur&amp;smid=tw-nytimes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Times</a> dutifully spread the company’s false narrative. 
“When I was going through it, I was like, ‘These people are telling such lies. How are they getting away with this?’” the former MMA fighter wondered. “The media was sick at that time. They would just try to twist everything that I posted into something racist. And it&#8217;s really been kind of humorous now, because people are waking up, and they&#8217;re like, ‘wait a second, what did she say?’”

Yet, for three years, Carano, who starred in the Daily Wire’s “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/terror-on-the-prairie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Terror On The Prairie</a>,” lacked the resources to counter the destructive message Disney had peddled about her, making it next to impossible for her to find work in mainstream Hollywood.
“I had to, you know, completely move my life out of California and [the question] was, where am I going to put my funds? In trying to battle Disney for years and years? Or am I going to just try to restart my life? I had spoken to some lawyers, and they said how expensive it was going to be. And I was like, oh my gosh, well, I need to get stable and in a safe place first.”

Musk’s willingness to foot the legal bill for anyone who had a legitimate discrimination claim changed her timeline. 
As soon as she saw it, she reached out to X executives and almost immediately heard back from lawyers asking for more information. Carano sent over her story, including a detailed timeline, email records, and text communications she’d kept from her time working on &#8220;The Mandalorian.&#8221; Then she held her breath for the short time it took them to reply back, “Yes, we want to take this on.”
If successful, Carano’s suit, filed February 6 in a California federal court, will force Lucasfilm to recast her and compensate her for lost wages. And she doesn’t believe she’ll be the last wrongful termination complainant Disney will face, especially given that Musk put out a <a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1755007753289134162?s=46&amp;t=mc2vHozZJYYzru9DdSGqTQ" target="_blank" rel="noopener">second call</a> urging other current and former Mouse House employees to come forward if they believe the company has discriminated against them.
“I think [the lawyers X has provided to pursue cases against Disney] are probably getting flooded,” Carano says. “There’s needed to be a reckoning in that company, I believe, for a long time. Because for a long time, it&#8217;s been like, ‘Well, we&#8217;re Disney. We&#8217;re Lucasfilm. You should just be honored to be here. And that kind of mentality really led to disrespect of people from every single department, not just actors … And everybody who&#8217;s worked in that company knows that there&#8217;s a problem, and it needs to be fixed.”
So far, Disney executives are staying as quiet as mice about Carano’s allegations, with CEO Bob Iger saying he has <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/bob-iger-gina-carano-mandalorian-lawsuit-1235818809/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">no comment</a>.
But X is making it clear it’s in the actress’ corner for the long haul. The same day Carano filed her suit, Joe Benarroch, the platform’s head of business operations, made this statement to <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/gina-carano-sues-disney-mandalorian-firing-lawsuit-elon-musk-1235817466/">The Hollywood Reporter</a>: “As a sign of X Corp’s commitment to free speech, we’re proud to provide financial support for Gina Carano’s lawsuit, empowering her to seek vindication of her free speech rights on X and the ability to work without bullying, harassment, or discrimination.”
One thing is certain: If Musk and Carano are successful, it could have huge implications for the entertainment industry. And for the First Amendment rights of all American workers.

Our friend Gina Carano, whom The Daily Wire hired after Disney fired her from “The Mandalorian” for the great sin of saying that people should not dehumanize one another, is suing The Walt Disney Company.
Gina was fired from “The Mandalorian” after she posted a meme saying, essentially, that othering can end with murder. I thought that was a mainstream point of view, but Disney fired her. So, we hired her and she was in “Terror on the Prairie,” a big win for all involved.
According to <a href="https://deadline.com/2024/02/gina-carano-sues-disney-mandalorian-1235816821/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deadline Hollywood</a>:
<blockquote>Three years after ex-MMA fighter <a href="https://deadline.com/2021/02/mandalorian-gina-carano-lucas-film-responds-to-controversial-statement-1234691898/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Carano was axed by the then Bob Chapek-run Disney</a> for comparing the political climate in America to Nazi Germany, Carano on Tuesday sued Disney and Star Wars shingle <a href="https://deadline.com/tag/lucasfilm/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lucasfilm</a> for dropping her from the bounty-hunter series – and the X/Tesla owner is paying for her lawyers.</blockquote>
Elon is paying for her lawyers.
I love it.
According to <a href="https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/GinaCarano-v-Disney.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the complaint</a> filed in federal court:
<blockquote>A short time ago in a galaxy not so far away, Defendants made it clear that only one orthodoxy in thought, speech, or action was acceptable in their empire, and that those who dared to question or failed to fully comply would not be tolerated. And so it was with Carano. &#8230; The rule of law still reigns over the Defendants’ empire … and Carano has returned to demand that they be held accountable for their bullying, discriminatory, and retaliatory actions — actions that inflicted not only substantial emotional harm, but millions of dollars in lost income.</blockquote>
You&#8217;ll recall that it was in February 2021, not long after she had been in “The Mandalorian,” that Lucasfilm put out a <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/pop-culture-news/mandalorian-star-gina-carano-out-lucasfilms-after-abhorrent-social-media-n1257429" target="_blank" rel="noopener">scathing statement</a> on their business with her: “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
By the way, there was no social media post denigrating anyone based on cultural or religious identity at all.

“Defendants also discriminated against Carano by treating her differently from her male co-stars who also made public, political statements on social media,” the lawsuit states.
That is absolutely true. Pedro Pascal, who is the star of “The Mandalorian,” put out a meme basically about how illegal immigrants were being held in detention facilities like concentration camps.
He put out that tweet — nothing.
“Her male co-stars were not disciplined, let alone terminated in a way to destroy their careers even though some would find their statements ‘abhorrent,’” the lawsuit states. The lawsuit notes Pascal’s statements as well as guest star Mark Hamill comparing Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler.
So Carano is amplifying all that. And then Elon Musk <a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1754956541252263941" target="_blank" rel="noopener">put out</a> a statement <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/elon-musk-offers-more-legal-support-for-anyone-discriminated-against-by-disney-as-gina-carano-is-cheered-for-her-lawsuit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a>, “Please let us know if you would like to join the lawsuit against Disney.”
Revenge is best served cold.
Elon tweeted, <a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1755007753289134162" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a>, “If you were discriminated against by Disney or its subsidiaries (ABC, ESPN, Marvel, etc), just reply to this post to receive legal support,” because he received from an anonymous source evidence that showed Disney general entertainment content and inclusion standards that looked like they violated basic civil rights law and seemed to create all sorts of racist hiring practices.
People are going to take him up on that. I would not be surprised to see Disney sued from a thousand different directions over that because DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) must, in fact, die.
Elon is doing God&#8217;s work on that one.

Gina Carano Sues Disney. Elon Does God’s Work, Pays For Her Lawyers

After actress Gina Carano <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gina-carano-sues-disney-after-elon-musk-offers-legal-help" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filed a wrongful termination lawsuit</a> against Disney on Tuesday with support from Tesla and X owner Elon Musk, the tech billionaire has offered legal help to anyone “discriminated against by Disney or its subsidiaries.”
Carano <a href="https://twitter.com/ginacarano/status/1754952279646437655" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> on X on Tuesday that her lawsuit, filed in the U.S. federal court for the Central District of California, was prompted in part by an offer from Musk who said in August of last year that X would fund the legal bill of anyone who was “unfairly treated by your employer due to posting or liking something on this platform.” The “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/terror-on-the-prairie">Terror on the Prairie</a>” actress’ lawsuit was cheered by many people, especially conservatives who have long called out Disney’s leftward drift.
Musk <a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1755007753289134162" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> on Tuesday evening offering legal support for anyone who has faced discrimination from the media giant. “If you were discriminated against by Disney or its subsidiaries (ABC, ESPN, Marvel, etc), just reply to this post to receive legal support,” he wrote.
The X owner’s post was a follow-up to a previous post in which he pointed to an ABC chart reportedly sent to showrunners, including producers at Disney, that listed its so-called &#8220;inclusion standards.&#8221; Musk called the standards “institutionalized racism and sexism.”
The inclusion chart, which was <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/abc-unveils-ambitious-set-of-inclusion-standards-exclusive-4069409/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> on by The Hollywood Reporter in September 2020, sought to increase the inclusion of “Underrepresented Groups” in both on-screen and behind-the-scenes roles. The chart pushed the company to meet inclusion quotas, such as requiring that “50% or more of regular and recurring written characters come from Underrepresented Groups” and “50% or more of regular and recurring actors come from Underrepresented Groups.”

Disney faced massive backlash for its actions against Carano, while some of the actress’s fellow castmates <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gina-caranos-former-mandalorian-co-star-speaks-up-for-her-calls-cancel-culture-baffling" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defended</a> her “gracious” character. Shortly after the high-profile termination, The Daily Wire announced that it had partnered with the former mixed martial artist for a movie deal that resulted in the feature film “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/terror-on-the-prairie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Terror on the Prairie</a>,” which premiered in June 2022.
