Help us, George Clooney … you’re our only hope!”
No one actually shared that plea with the Oscar-winner, but he’s been assuming someone did for a while. Over the course of four decades, the 63-year-old went from the mulleted handyman on “The Facts of Life” to an award-winning actor, director and film producer.
Clooney has every right and intention of using his celebrity gravitas. That’s despite the 2024 election proving voters no longer hold stars in high regard. At least at the ballot box.
Plenty of people listened to Clooney last summer, a time when his unofficial Save America tour kicked off. He took to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/10/opinion/joe-biden-democratic-nominee.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the pages</a> of The New York Times to call for President Joe Biden to end his rematch against President Donald Trump.
Clooney’s Op/Ed, and his choice of platform, rocked the Democratic establishment. Clooney shared how the Biden he once knew was no more, and that it was time for a younger Democrat to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/george-clooney-joins-chorus-of-stars-telling-biden-its-time-to-drop-out-of-race" target="_blank" rel="noopener">take the fight to Trump</a>.

Breaking News from 2021, right? Except it came on the heels of Biden’s disastrous June 27 presidential debate and endless videos revealing the leader’s rickety health.
When Biden eventually stepped aside ( maybe pushed?), Clooney looked like a Democratic soothsayer.
As a result, the star’s ego grew three sizes. and we’re now getting a good dose of it  during Clooney’s “Good Night, and Good Luck” press tour.

The actor <a href="https://playbill.com/production/good-night-and-good-luck-broadway-winter-garden-theatre-2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener">brought</a> his 2005 film of the same name to the Great White Way earlier this month. His never-ending publicity for the show, along with the production itself, has given Clooney even more opportunities to lecture reg’lar Americans on The Way Things Ought to Be.
Let’s start with the show, a love letter to journalist Edward R. Murrow during his ‘50s-era battles with Sen. Joseph McCarthy. Their clashes mattered then, and now, and the play (and film) justly honor that.
Except Clooney backloads the production with a clip brigade that touches on everything from the silly to the surreal. It’s meant to remind us why the Fourth Estate matters, even though the clips include video of Elon Musk raising his arm in a manner that some of the far-Left dubbed Nazi-adjacent.
A real journalist wouldn’t suggest the billionaire’s awkward gesture was anything but an awkward hand gesture. Nor would he use that clip as an example of something noteworthy in modern times.
A better example? A shot of a burning Tesla?

Clooney has used every media interview to remind us why journalism matters now – more than ever – in the era of Trump.
Here he is <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQOvlx8g7fo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">genuflecting</a> to the Fourth Estate:
<blockquote>It’s a subject matter that is very close to our hearts, which is what [the press] does. Telling the truth and holding truth to power. It’s a play we’re very excited to do.</blockquote>
He wagged his perfectly manicured finger at us anew during a chat with CBS about the Broadway show. Once again, he <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/george-clooney-broadway-journalism-60-minutes/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defended modern journalists:</a>
<blockquote>Governments don&#8217;t like the freedom of the press. They never have,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And that goes for whether you are a conservative or a liberal or whatever side you&#8217;re on. They don&#8217;t like the press.</blockquote>

He’s right. So where was it during the last four years? Not only did brave, truth-telling journalists ignore President Biden’s mental decline, some actively covered it up. Remember the brief “cheap fakes” era of media damage control?
Biden’s mental decline was like his son’s missing laptop. Nothing to see here. Move along.
That’s journalism at its worst, and Clooney was part of that cover-up. Clooney palled around with President Biden during a June 2024 fundraiser, something he alluded to in that New York Times open letter. He saw Biden’s sorry state and said nothing for weeks until Biden’s poll numbers sank too low to ignore.
Is that what the son of a truth-telling journalist would do? Of course not.
Yet here he was thumping his chest about his play, the state of modern journalism, and his role in boosting both as if he had done nothing wrong.
It took a member of the “new media” to set Clooney straight about his cover-up.
“That’s not journalism, George. That’s cowardice, followed by naked partisanship,” said Megyn Kelly on her self-titled <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eD8glSeIKs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">podcast</a> about his actions.
Clooney remains both handsome and charismatic, and he effortlessly embraced his first major role on Broadway. That’s not easy. He might try putting his partisan blinders on the shelf the next time he waxes philosophical on journalism.
We’ve seen the very worst of it over the past decade, and any attempt to suggest otherwise is just theater.

Actor George Clooney was reportedly livid after &#8220;Morning Joe&#8221; host Mika Brzezinski suggested on live television that former President Barack Obama was pulling the &#8220;Ocean&#8217;s Eleven&#8221; star&#8217;s strings.
Biden biographer Chris Whipple revealed details of the heated conversation — between Clooney and an unnamed MSNBC producer — in his upcoming book about the 2024 presidential campaign, &#8220;Unchartered: How Trump Beat Biden, Harris, and the Odds in the Wildest Campaign in History.&#8221;
The exchange began with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/george-clooney-joins-chorus-of-stars-telling-biden-its-time-to-drop-out-of-race" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Clooney&#8217;s shock op-ed</a> after he attended a Hollywood fundraiser for former President Joe Biden, who was still running for re-election at the time. Clooney led with the fact that he considered Biden a friend — but then made it clear he believed it was time for him to step aside and bow out of the race.
&#8220;The one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can,” Clooney wrote at the time. “It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal‘ Biden of 2010. Clooney, according to Whipple&#8217;s upcoming tome, was incensed. He reportedly called one of the &#8220;Morning Joe&#8221; producers and gave him an earful, asking, &#8220;How the f*** could you let her link me with Barack Obama saying he made me write the op-ed?&#8221;
&#8220;You f***ed me… You’re my friend. You should have stood up for me,&#8221; Clooney continued, even as the producer pointed out he had nothing to do with Brzezinski&#8217;s comments, according to Whipple.
&#8220;George, this is not a f***ing movie,&#8221; the producer reportedly said. &#8220;There’s no script. It’s just not a movie where you go script page to script page.&#8221;

Actor George Clooney said he’s no longer interested in pursuing the leading role in any romantic comedies because he doesn’t want to be competing with much younger men for the parts.
The two-time Academy Award winner made the revelation during a recently aired <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoaLYLOps8I">interview</a> with “60 Minutes.” Correspondent Jon Wertheim mentioned the actor’s &#8220;Sexiest Man of the Year phase&#8221; in the early 2000s, which Clooney agreed &#8220;was a big time for&#8221; him. But he says times have changed.
“Look, I’m 63 years old. I’m not trying to compete with 25-year-old leading men,” Clooney said. “That’s not my job. I’m not doing romantic films anymore.”
The actor is known for starring in various romantic comedies, including “One Fine Day” (1996) with Michelle Pfeiffer, and “Intolerable Cruelty” (2003) with Catherine Zeta-Jones. He also received a lot of attention for his role opposite Julia Roberts in “Ticket to Paradise” (2022) because it was the actress’s first romantic comedy in more than two decades. 
Clooney is currently promoting his new play, “Good Night, and Good Luck,” a stage adaptation based on his 2005 movie of the same name he co-wrote and starred in. This will be the actor’s first time on Broadway.
&#8220;Anybody who would deny [the draw of Broadway] would just be a liar,&#8221; the actor said during the “60 Minutes” interview. &#8220;There isn&#8217;t a single actor alive that wouldn&#8217;t have loved to have been on Broadway.&#8221;
&#8220;So that&#8217;s the fun of it. It&#8217;s trickier the older you get. But why not?&#8221; he added.
Clooney was recently criticized for another mention he made during the same interview when he doubled down on his decision to publicly advocate for former President Joe Biden ending his re-election campaign, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/second-rate-movie-star-trump-slams-george-clooney-after-60-minutes-interview">reported</a>.
“I was raised to tell the truth,” the longtime Democrat supporter said. “I had seen the president up close for this fundraiser, and I was surprised. And so I feel as if there was a lot of profiles in cowardice in my party through all of that. And I was not proud of that. And I also believed I had to tell the truth.”
President Trump weighed in on Clooney’s comments, calling him a “second rate movie actor.”
“He [Clooney] fought hard for Sleepy Joe’s election and then, right after the debate, dumped him like a dog,” Trump wrote in part on Truth Social.

“Why would the now highly discredited ‘60 Minutes’ be doing a total ‘puff piece’ on George Clooney, a second rate movie ‘star,’ and failed political pundit,” Trump wrote in a post on his <a href="https://x.com/TrumpDailyPosts/status/1904054631187333472">Truth Social</a>.
“He [Clooney] fought hard for Sleepy Joe’s election and then, right after the debate, dumped him like a dog,” he added. “Later, I assume under orders from the Obama camp, pushed all out for ‘Kamala,’ only to soon realize that that was not going to work out to well.”
“‘60 Minutes’ even fraudulently inserted fake answers into her disastrous interview, aired just before Election Day, in one of the most embarrassing and dishonest events in broadcast history,” Trump continued. “And now George Clooney again? His press agent should be making a fortune!&#8221;

Trump&#8217;s comments came after the 63-year-old actor’s <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoaLYLOps8I">interview</a> in which he referenced the president’s $20 billion defamation suit against CBS for its &#8220;60 Minutes” interview with the former vice president before the election, which Trump has said was deceptively edited.
“When the other three estates fail, when the judiciary and the executive and the legislative branches fail us, the fourth estate has to succeed,&#8221; Clooney said on CBS. &#8220;Has to succeed, as ‘60 Minutes’ is here right now on our first day.&#8221;
“We’re seeing this idea of using government to scare or fine or use corporations — to make journalists smaller,” he added. “Governments don’t like the freedom of the press. They never have. And that goes for whether you are a conservative or a liberal or whatever side you’re on. They don’t like the press.”
“Journalism and telling truth to power has to be waged like war is waged,” Clooney <a href="https://ew.com/donald-trump-responds-george-clooney-60-minutes-interview-free-press-11702167">continued</a>. &#8220;It doesn&#8217;t just happen accidentally. You know, it takes people saying, we&#8217;re gonna do these stories and you&#8217;re gonna have to come after us. And that&#8217;s the way it is.&#8221;
At one point in the interview, the “Oceans 11” star and longtime Democrat supporter doubled-down on writing his New York Times op-ed when he said President Biden needed to step down, allowing for the party to get behind now-failed Democrat candidate Harris.

‘Second Rate Movie Star’: Trump Slams George Clooney After ’60 Minutes’ Interview

George Clooney offered an unexpected message to President Donald Trump wishing him well the next four years after throwing his support behind former Vice President Kamala Harris when President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.
Speaking on “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_xGciln6mE">The Late Show with Stephen Colbert</a>,” the 63-year-old actor referenced Trump’s victory without ever using his name and said as a “Democrat in Kentucky” he has won a few elections and lost a handful too.
“So, I’ve had a lot of fun in my life,” Clooney said. “It has been nothing but fun. I have lost a lot of elections. The first time I voted it was 1980. I was a [former President Jimmy] Carter guy and [former President Ronald] Reagan won.”

“This is democracy. This is how it works,” he added, before Colbert asked him how it went this time for him, pretending he didn’t know which side of the political aisle Clooney was voting.
“Well, I don’t know, what am I supposed to do? Storm the f**king Capitol?” Clooney replied with a laugh. “It didn’t work out. That&#8217;s what happens. It’s part of democracy. There are people who agree and disagree, and most of us still like each other, we’re all going to get through it.”
“Good for you,” he added. “Go. I hope you do well because our country needs it, and then we will meet you in 3.5 years and see where we go next. That’s part of the thing.”
Following Biden’s disastrous presidential debate against Trump, Clooney penned an Op-Ed in the New York Times calling on the former president to drop out of the race and wrote that “We are not going to win in November with this president.” Clooney also called on top Democrats to “ask this president to voluntarily step aside,” suggesting Biden would have a chance to “save democracy” in 2024 like he claimed Biden did in 2020.
After Trump’s victory in November, the president appeared on Fox News’ “Gutfeld Show” and the host talked about the celebrities who seem to love to hate Trump like Clooney, Jimmy Kimmel and Howard Stern, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-reacts-to-celebrities-who-cant-quit-him-like-clooney-and-stern">reported</a>.
Gutfeld introduced a segment called “Celebs can’t quit Donald Trump.” It included a clip from “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in which Clooney admitted he thought that Trump might use the “power of the government” against him, but was “comforted in the fact that” Trump would likely be coming after Kimmel first.
Kimmel also read a post from <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4765706-donald-trump-george-clooney-joe-biden-withdraw-reelection-bid-2024/">Trump</a> in July in which he told Clooney to “get out of politics” and “go back to television.” On the show, Clooney replied, “I will if he does.” Trump’s original post came after the actor’s op-ed telling Biden it was time to let someone else run for the Democratic party.

Former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> reacted to celebrities like <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/george-clooney" target="_blank" rel="noopener">George Clooney</a> and Howard Stern who seem to love to hate him and have made clear they won’t be voting for him against Vice President Kamala Harris.
On Wednesday, during Trump’s appearance on Fox News&#8217; “<a href="https://x.com/C_N_F__on__X/status/1836783605827228128">Gutfeld</a>” show, host Greg Gutfeld introduced a segment called “Celebs can’t quit Donald Trump.&#8221; It included clips from “Jimmy Kimmel Live” when Clooney admitted he thought that Trump might use the “power of the government” against him, but was “comforted in the fact that” Trump’s coming after Kimmel first.
Kimmel also read a post from <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4765706-donald-trump-george-clooney-joe-biden-withdraw-reelection-bid-2024/">Trump</a> in July in which he told Clooney to “get out of politics” and “go back to television.” On the show Tuesday, Clooney replied, “I will if he does.” Trump’s original post came after the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/george-clooney-joins-chorus-of-stars-telling-biden-its-time-to-drop-out-of-race">63-year-old actor</a> took out an op-ed calling on President Joe Biden to drop out of the race following Biden’s disastrous presidential debate against Trump.
In a second clip, Gutfeld played radio shock jock Howard Stern, who made news this week when he said that he didn’t hate Trump, just those who vote for the former president.

“This whole idea of you like me, you are good, and if you don’t, you are bad … I’ve been the victim of this,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/howard-stern-says-he-doesnt-hate-trump-but-the-people-who-vote-for-him">Stern told his audience</a>. “I don’t agree with Trump politically, I don’t think he should be anywhere near the White House.”
“I don’t hate the guy,” he added. &#8220;I hate the people who vote for him. I think they are stupid. I do. I have no respect for you.”
A third clip showed Kimmel interviewing rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs in August 2018 in which Combs said he wouldn’t make a “good president” because he wouldn’t “pass” any of the things you need to, before taking a dig at Trump, claiming, “but I guess Trump didn’t.”

Gutfeld noted the last clip “didn’t age well&#8221; for Kimmel or Combs, the latter of whom is currently in the news after being denied bail for a second time after being arraigned on racketeering and sex trafficking charges with the release of a New York grand jury indictment.
The host then asked Trump about the hatred he faces from celebs and shared that his theory is that stars like Clooney and Stern feel that way because the former president “puts their fame into the proper perspective when it’s dwarfed by somebody with more fame.&#8221;
“Well I watch and know most of them,” Trump said, noting his long history of being on Stern’s show for a big part of the radio host’s career. “He [Stern] was great at that time, then he went woke.”
“And since he’s gone woke, his ratings have gone down the tube,” he added. “And he sort of went anti-Trump for a couple of reasons … but he’s changed and he doesn’t do the ratings anymore.”

Academy Award-winning actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/george-clooney">George Clooney</a> came down hard on two <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hollywood">Hollywood</a> directors during a newly published <a href="https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/article/george-clooney-brad-pitt-cover-interview-2024">interview</a> with GQ.
The 63-year-old said he’d never again work with BAFTA and Golden Globe winner David O. Russell. “The older you get, time allotment is very different,” Clooney told the outlet in a joint interview with Brad Pitt. “Five months out of your life is a lot.”
“And so it’s not just like, ‘Oh, I’m going to go do a really good film, like ‘Three Kings,’ and I’m going to have a miserable f*** like David O. Russell making my life hell. Making every person in the crew’s life hell,&#8217;” he continued. “It’s not worth it. Not at this point in my life. Just to have a good product.”
Clooney appeared in the 1999 comedy war film written and directed by Russell alongside Mark Wahlberg, Ice Cube, and Spike Jonze. The movie follows four American soldiers attempting to steal a hidden stockpile of Saddam Hussein&#8217;s gold in the aftermath of Operation Desert Storm.
Russell is known for working on hit films, including “The Fighter” (2010), “Silver Linings Playbook” (2012), and “American Hustle” (2013).
Clooney also aired his beef with director Quentin Tarantino, seemingly referencing the two-time Academy Award winner&#8217;s comment about Clooney not having a hit “in this millennium.”

“Quentin said some s*** about me recently, so I’m a little irritated by him,” the actor said. “He did some interview where he was naming movie stars, and he was talking about you, and somebody else, and then this guy goes, ‘Well, what about George?’ He goes, he’s not a movie star. And then he literally said something like, ‘Name me a movie since the millennium.’ And I was like, ‘Since the millennium? That’s kind of my whole f***ing career.’&#8221;
Clooney said, “So now I’m like, all right, dude, f*** off. I don’t mind giving him s***. He gave me s***.”
Despite his negative remarks, the actor said he felt “really lucky” to have the opportunity to “work with these great directors.”
“Director and screenplay is what keeps you alive,” Clooney told GQ. “And I learned that after doing some really bad films. You can’t make a good film out of a bad script. You can’t do it. You can make a bad film out of a good script. You can f*** it up.”

Remember the mulleted handyman from “The Facts of Life?” Whatever happened to him?
Plenty, of course.
One of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/george-clooney" target="_blank" rel="noopener">George Clooney’s</a> earliest roles became a footnote in an Oscar-winning career. Now, decades removed from his TV fame, he’s become a punchline for celebrity endorsements.
And it couldn’t happen at a worse time.
The actor’s turn on NBC’s “ER” (1994-1999) made him a superstar. He eventually left the series to embark on a big-screen career, and while he suffered some bumps along the way the transition stuck.

Even his disastrous “Batman and Robin” turn couldn’t derail his trip to the A-list.
More fame followed, later including a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for 2005’s “Syriana.” He segued, again, into the director’s chair for 2002’s “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” the warped Chuck Barris biopic.
Now, he was a legitimate double threat. It appeared his directing chops might eclipse his work in front of the camera. Might a Best Director Oscar follow?
Along the way Clooney flexed his political clout. He became intertwined with President Barack Obama’s ascendancy, praising the eloquent Democrat. He used his considerable brand to promote progressive causes.
He donated heavily to Left-leaning projects, infamously met with Obama to talk serious issues (and snag a <a href="https://www.npr.org/2012/05/10/152419031/obama-lures-donors-with-a-hollywood-sweepstakes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">slick viral photo</a>) and used his Hollywood pulpit to promote his progressive views.

Think, “Good Night, and Good Luck” and “The Ides of March” for two stark examples. The former recalled the Blacklist era while the latter teemed with Clooney’s progressive platitudes.
More recently, his wife Amal Clooney helped the International Criminal Court <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/amal-clooney-iccs-shame-real-threat-israel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">craft an arrest warrant for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu.</a>
All of the above only enhanced his Hollywood glow, of course, given the town’s hard-Left bent. Except said glow began to fade in recent years. Clooney’s hit parade slowed to a crawl. Flops like “The Monuments Men,” “Tomorrowland” and “Money Monster” dimmed his A-list gravitas.
Worse, his directorial efforts no longer mattered to the culture at large. His hard-Left ‘50s satire “Suburbicon” got pummeled by both critics and audiences alike in 2017, and deservedly so. “The Midnight Sky” came and went on Netflix four years ago without much hullabaloo.
His bland adaptation of author J.R. Moehringer’s “The Tender Bar” didn’t generate an ounce of Oscar buzz in 2021. Last year’s “The Boys on the Boat” legged out a modest box office run but critics turned their collective noses up at it.
And now this.
Clooney attended a June fundraiser for President Joe Biden, seeing firsthand the leader’s diminished cognitive state. The actor kept that critical observation to himself until the June 27 presidential debate shattered the media’s attempts to cover up Biden’s decline.
Suddenly, his party had to dump Biden, and fast.
So Clooney took to the far-Left pages of The New York Times to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-2002" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tell us the truth</a> about that fundraiser. The Biden he met “was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”
Had Biden not debated former President Donald Trump or stuck to a repeat of his 2020 presidential campaign – Basement or Bust – Clooney may have kept the secret to himself. And the American public would be the worse for it.
We expect actors to lie on the big screen. We know most will promote progressive causes. His willingness to cover up Biden’s condition? That’s something even honest Democrats should decry.
Clooney’s attempt to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/george-clooney-joins-chorus-of-stars-telling-biden-its-time-to-drop-out-of-race" target="_blank" rel="noopener">knock Biden off</a> the Democratic ticket worked, thanks primarily to donors slamming their wallets and purses shut until Biden did the “right’ thing. The actor’s rhetoric pivoted again, right on cue.
&#8220;He&#8217;s saving democracy once again,” <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/george-clooney-backs-kamala-harris-for-president/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Clooney said of Biden’s hasty exit from the race</a>. As if the elderly leader had any choice in the matter and didn’t wait until the pressure was too intense to stay in the White House.
Yes, “democracy” is on the line. Again. Because Orange Man Bad. Give this to Clooney. When there’s a script in his face he reads it verbatim. Now, he’s on Team Her, Too.
“We&#8217;re all so excited to do whatever we can to support Vice President Harris in her historic quest.&#8221;
Would a President Nikki Haley be historic, too? Can he even hear himself?

It’s noteworthy that Clooney didn’t use his celebrity voice to denounce violence in the wake of the assassination attempt on Trump’s life. Nor did he demand his peers tone down the rhetoric.
And he wasn’t alone. The vast majority of stars couldn’t find their X accounts to share outrage over the tragic shooting. Tim Robbins’ <a href="https://deadline.com/2024/07/bob-roberts-tim-robbins-trump-assassination-attempt-1236010074/#:~:text=Actor%2Ddirector%20Tim%20Robbins%20is,his%201992%20movie%20Bob%20Roberts." target="_blank" rel="noopener">humane response</a> proved the exception to the ghoulish rule.
The bigger issue remains. Are there any clear-thinking Americans who still believe Clooney is worth a listen?
Will he ever explain why he kept Biden’s diminished state a secret? Of course not. And no journalist will ever press him on the issue. (They kept the secret, too)
So where does that leave ol’ George? He’s become a caricature of a progressive movie star at a time when his party needs him most – election season. His directorial career no longer carries the aesthetic weight it once did. And his only recent “hit” remains “Ticket to Paradise,” the kind of frothy rom-com the 63-year-old is aging out of.
There’s always a “Facts of Life” reunion possibility. Oh, wait, co-star Mindy Cohn just shared how a <a href="https://deadline.com/2024/07/mindy-cohn-facts-of-life-revival-dead-greedy-co-star-1236020460/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">greedy co-star just nixed it.</a>

Hollywood Whiplash: George Clooney Beclowns Himself As He Bails On Biden

It would be easy enough to dismiss the actions and opinions of Hollywood stars, especially when it comes to politics. But doing so ignores the enormous influence celebrities have over a shocking number of voters. And it completely ignores the deep pockets of multi-millionaire movie stars. These people – who overwhelmingly vote Democrat – host fundraisers, hype fans, and hold sway especially over their young adult fans.
Like it or not, Hollywood’s opinion can affect an election. The latest twist in this saga is that many A-listers are turning on President Biden, demanding that he end his reelection bid or even resign as president right now.
This idea has been gaining traction ever since Biden’s disastrous debate performance against rival candidate Donald Trump last month. Now Left-leaning mainstream media outlets are openly questioning Biden’s ability to perform. Many Democrat politicians are also sounding the alarm.
One of the most shocking “et tu, Brute?” moments comes courtesy of major Dem donor George Clooney. Just weeks after headlining a major fundraiser for Biden’s campaign, the “Ocean’s 11” star published an op-ed in The New York Times detailing how even though he “love[s]” Biden, he believes it’s time for a replacement candidate.

“I love Joe Biden,” Clooney wrote in the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/10/opinion/joe-biden-democratic-nominee.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">piece</a> published on July 10. “As a senator. As a vice president and as president. I consider him a friend, and I believe in him. Believe in his character. Believe in his morals. In the last four years, he’s won many of the battles he’s faced.”
He continued, “But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can. It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal‘ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”
Clooney went on to highlight the debate performance as a major turning point.
“Was he tired? Yes. A cold? Maybe. But our party leaders need to stop telling us that 51 million people didn’t see what we just saw,” the Hollywood A-lister shared. “We’re all so terrified by the prospect of a second Trump term that we’ve opted to ignore every warning sign.”
The actor insisted that his decision to stop backing Biden is “about age” and “nothing more.”
“We are not going to win in November with this president,” Clooney wrote. “On top of that, we won’t win the House, and we’re going to lose the Senate…We love to talk about how the Republican Party has ceded all power, and all of the traits that made it so formidable with Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, to a single person who seeks to hold on to the presidency, and yet most of our members of Congress are opting to wait and see if the dam breaks.”
“But the dam has broken,” he went on. “We can put our heads in the sand and pray for a miracle in November, or we can speak the truth.”
Clooney isn’t the only Hollywood star openly demanding that Biden bow out. Leftist filmmaker and director Rob “Meathead” Reiner <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/even-meathead-rob-reiner-says-its-time-for-joe-biden-to-step-down" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted on X</a> over the weekend, demanding that the Democrats need to find a new candidate.

“It’s time to stop f***ing around. If the Convicted Felon wins, we lose our Democracy. Joe Biden has effectively served US with honor, decency, and dignity. It’s time for Joe Biden to step down,” he wrote.
“Say Anything” actor John Cusack chimed in with his reply, agreeing with the Hollywood director. “There has been no bigger supporter of Biden’s domestic policy than Rob &#8211; he’s right,” he <a href="https://x.com/johncusack/status/1810286638477586528?prefetchTimestamp=1720640647514" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>.
According to a CNN report, Reiner attended a debate watch party in Los Angeles and was “screaming about losing” while fellow leftist Jane Fonda “had tears in her eyes.”
Avowed Left-wing author Stephen King is another person publicly calling on Biden to step aside and allow someone else to become the nominee.
“Joe Biden has been a fine president, but it’s time for him—in the interests of the America he so clearly loves—to announce he will not run for re-election,” King <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/leftist-author-stephen-king-says-biden-should-bow-out-of-race" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shared</a> on X.
“Even Stephen King is voting for Donald Trump!” Elon Musk joked in a reply.
Actor Michael Douglas didn’t specifically ask for Biden to bow out, but he did tell the audience of “The View” that he’s &#8220;deeply, deeply concerned.&#8221; The two-time Academy Award winner also hosted a fundraiser for Biden earlier this year.
Progressive filmmaker Michael Moore published his thoughts on his website, advising the current president not to “let your enablers hound you into doing what your body is begging you not to do.”

Moore further <a href="https://deadline.com/2024/07/michael-moore-calls-for-joe-biden-to-step-aside-1236003910/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expanded on</a> his opinion during an episode of his podcast, saying Biden’s participation in the debate was “the cruelest form of elder abuse I’ve ever been forced to watch…Who would send an 81-year-old out onto any stage to debate a living monster at nine o’clock at night for a brawl that would not end until 10:42 p.m.?”
The “Sicko” filmmaker took it one step further, offering his suggestion for a replacement: Vice President Kamala Harris. 
“Be the one who not only stopped Trump, but also the brave man who gave us our first woman in the Oval Office,” he said on the show. “She will complete your mission — and we will stand beside her.”

Abigail Disney, heiress to the Disney fortune, said the same. &#8220;This is realism, not disrespect,&#8221; Disney said during an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disney-heiress-other-major-dem-donors-dump-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview with CNBC</a> earlier this month. &#8220;Biden is a good man and has served his country admirably, but the stakes are far too high.&#8221;
Critically, the heiress said she would withhold further donations to the Democratic party until Biden is replaced.

The hosts of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; lashed out at actor George Clooney during Thursday&#8217;s broadcast, complaining about his decision to publish an op-ed calling on President Joe Biden to bow out of the 2024 presidential race.
Joy Behar led the charge, arguing that if Clooney — who hosted a fundraiser for Biden recently — had concerns about Biden, he should have addressed them in private rather than splashing them across the pages of a newspaper.
&#8220;President Biden is fighting right now for his political future,&#8221; she began. &#8220;Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison &#8230; is still in Biden&#8217;s corner, but he&#8217;s losing more high-profile support. George Clooney wrote an op-ed piece in The New York Times claiming that after he saw Biden&#8217;s condition at the recent fundraiser, he doesn&#8217;t think he&#8217;s up for the gig. George Clooney, couldn&#8217;t he tell them that in person, for God&#8217;s sake? He has to write an op-ed piece?&#8221;
Behar went on to complain about comments from Jon Favreau, a speechwriter for former President Barack Obama, who said that there was no way to escape Biden&#8217;s declining health.

Former President Donald Trump blasted George Clooney on Wednesday after the actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/george-clooney-joins-chorus-of-stars-telling-biden-its-time-to-drop-out-of-race" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> on President Joe Biden to end his presidential campaign in a New York Times op-ed.
Clooney, who hosted a Hollywood fundraiser for Biden just last month, wrote in the Times that he &#8220;love[s] Joe Biden. As a senator. As a vice president and as a president,&#8221; but added that &#8220;We are not going to win in November with this president.&#8221; Trump responded to Clooney&#8217;s flip on Biden, calling both of them &#8220;rats.&#8221;
&#8220;So now fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting into the act. He’s turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are,&#8221; Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/112765421764921160" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> on Truth Social.

Clooney joined a chorus of people on the Left who are calling on Biden to step aside and let another candidate run against Trump. That list <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/live-tracker-all-the-democrats-calling-on-biden-to-drop-out-of-the-2024-presidential-election?topStoryPosition=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">includes</a> a mounting number of Democratic lawmakers.
&#8220;It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe &#8216;big F-ing deal&#8217; Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate,&#8221; Clooney added in his <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/10/opinion/joe-biden-democratic-nominee.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opinion piece</a>.
Biden has doubled down on his intentions to remain the Democrats&#8217; presidential nominee as the party&#8217;s convention nears.
“The voters of the Democratic Party have voted. They have chosen me to be the nominee of the party,” Biden wrote in a letter sent to Congressional Democrats earlier this week. “Do we now just say this process didn’t matter? That the voters don’t have a say?”
“I decline to do that. I feel a deep obligation to the faith and the trust the voters of the Democratic Party have placed in me to run this year,” Biden added. “It was their decision to make.”
However, poll results from The Washington Post, ABC News, and Ipsos published on Wednesday showed that a majority of Democrats and more than 70% of independents think Biden should drop out of the race.

Some on President Joe Biden&#8217;s team believe that former President Barack Obama — Biden&#8217;s former boss — may be pulling the strings behind the scenes in an effort to tank his re-election efforts.
According to a report aired during Thursday&#8217;s broadcast of &#8220;Morning Joe,&#8221; some within Biden&#8217;s inner circle and some Democratic officials believe that Obama is steering vocal criticisms of Biden in an effort to push him out of the 2024 presidential race.
