There are few institutions in this country that have disgraced themselves more thoroughly in recent days than the little-known Champlin Park High School in Champlin, Minnesota. This is the school that just won the Class 4A Minnesota Girls&#8217; State softball championship by fielding a male as their star pitcher in every single game.
This male pitcher, a 17-year-old junior named Charlie &#8220;Marissa&#8221; Rothenberger, pitched all 21 innings across three games of the girls&#8217; championship tournament (because they play 7-inning games in softball). And what do you know? Champlin Park won all three games. Rothenberger capped off his performance by throwing a complete-game shut-out, allowing only three hits in the process. And that&#8217;s just the championship round. He also pitched a complete-game shutout in the quarterfinals. Overall, in the entire postseason, Rothenberger allowed only two runs in 35 innings.

Everyone involved in this farce — from the school district to the coaches to the parents to the athlete himself — should be barred from any kind of competitive activity for the rest of their lives. They should face more serious consequences, which may indeed be coming. (The school district has already been sued). But at the moment, like most cheaters, these people seem to have convinced themselves that they did nothing wrong.
In interviews, Rothenberger and his coach have suggested that they&#8217;re simply better competitors than their opponents. They managed to vary their pitch types and pitch speeds, and their opponents just didn&#8217;t measure up. Here&#8217;s an interview from last season to give you an idea:

Watching this coach speak, any sane person has to fight to suppress their vomit reflex. Imagine celebrating your sports acumen, and acting like you&#8217;re some incredible coach with an incredible team, when you have a boy pitching every single one of your games in a girls&#8217; softball league. The gall that&#8217;s required to stand there, with a straight face, as you cheat in the most flagrant way imaginable — while pretending everything is completely normal — is actually hard to comprehend. &#8220;Pathetic&#8221; does not begin to describe it. And of course, the parents who allow this man to coach their daughters, as he teaches them how to cheat, are just as culpable. Everything about this story is revolting.
And the school district knows that. So does the league. That&#8217;s why they&#8217;ve locked down their social media posts, so that no one can reply to them. Here&#8217;s what the Minnesota State High School League <a href="https://x.com/MSHSL/status/1931023458311282993">posted</a>, before locking the comments: &#8220;Meet Champlin Park, the Class 4A Softball State Champion for 2025.&#8221; And then they attach a team picture, including the boy who dominated the competition.

Riley Gaines noticed the league&#8217;s decision to censor replies. And to point out the league&#8217;s cowardice, <a href="https://x.com/Riley_Gaines_/status/1931057465887728023">she wrote</a>: 
<blockquote>Comments off lol. To be expected when your star player is a boy.</blockquote>
As we discussed earlier this week, Gaines&#8217; post sent Simone Biles, the Olympic gymnast, into a frenzy. She accused Gaines of &#8220;bullying&#8221; the trans-identifying athlete. Biles <a href="https://x.com/Simone_Biles/status/1931129527679308054">also wrote</a>: 
<blockquote>You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!!</blockquote>
And then for good measure, Biles followed up <a href="https://x.com/Simone_Biles/status/1931130395728498927">by writing</a>: 
<blockquote>bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male.</blockquote>
The other day, we talked about all of the reasons why this rant was highly ironic (especially since Simone Biles isn&#8217;t exactly known for her sportsmanship, or for her feminine appearance). We also discussed why her idea of a &#8220;trans-only league&#8221; is idiotic for about a million reasons. For one thing, there wouldn&#8217;t be enough players, nor would anyone want to watch them play.
Additionally, you&#8217;d have to decide how to classify the non-binaries and the demisexuals and the 50,000 other genders. Do they play with trans men or trans women? Do we need a separate league for every gender? Things could get pretty complicated, especially when the trans furries show up and refuse to wear the standard uniforms. And of course, on top of all of these problems, a &#8220;trans-only league&#8221; makes no sense because the current system — of dividing athletes based on biological reality and not fantasy — works perfectly fine.
So those are just a few problems with Simone Biles&#8217; tweets. Additionally, a few people also pointed out that Simone Biles&#8217; position was also hypocritical, because back in 2017, she wrote <a href="https://x.com/Simone_Biles/status/918328165478666240">on Twitter</a>: 
<blockquote>good thing guys don&#8217;t compete against girls or he&#8217;d take all the gold medals !!</blockquote>
Presumably, that post was written before Simone Biles had lost her mind. But in 2025, Simone Biles, as with so many other prominent public figures, is completely subservient to Leftist ideology. And more than that, she&#8217;s vindictive and openly hostile towards anyone who expresses a contrary position — even if it&#8217;s the position that most Americans hold, and the one that happens to correspond with reality.
Here&#8217;s what elevates this story beyond a typical social media spat. Five years ago, for these posts attacking Riley Gaines, Simone Biles would&#8217;ve received unrelenting praise from every organ of the Left. The media would be asking her how she managed to be so brave in the face of Riley Gaines&#8217; fascism. Activist groups would be clamoring to invite her to speaking engagements. Every podcast would be elevating her as a kind of trans messiah. And then they would&#8217;ve had Riley Gaines banned from the Internet, of course. That&#8217;s how things used to work. In 2020, to give just one of many examples, the comedian Graham Linehan was permanently banned from Twitter for tweeting, &#8220;men aren&#8217;t women tho.&#8221; That&#8217;s all it took five years ago. You&#8217;d get dogpiled and permanently censored for stating the truth about human biology.

But that&#8217;s not what happens anymore. Very few prominent people came out to defend Simone Biles after her post. Instead, she was excoriated by almost everyone. The backlash was so significant that, just a few days after the initial posts, Simone Biles put out a lengthy statement apologizing to Riley Gaines. 
Here&#8217;s what <a href="https://x.com/Simone_Biles/status/1932470954610901259">she posted</a>:
<blockquote>I wanted to follow up from my last tweets. I’ve always believed competitive equity &amp; inclusivity are both essential in sport. The current system doesn’t adequately balance these important principles, which often leads to frustration and heated exchanges, and it didn’t help for me to get personal with Riley, which I apologize for.</blockquote>
The statement continues for a bit, but it&#8217;s worth taking a second to think about the words &#8220;competitive equity,&#8221; because it&#8217;s a real triumph of word salad. What exactly is &#8220;competitive equity?&#8221; Of course, when Leftists say &#8220;equity,&#8221; we know what they mean. They mean allowing certain demographics — like self-identifying trans people — to gain advantages over others. But that&#8217;s fundamentally incompatible with the idea of competition. The whole point of equity is to eliminate competition, so that the Left&#8217;s preferred groups win.
But if you can make it past the oxymoron, Simone Biles does get around to apologizing. And then she <a href="https://x.com/Simone_Biles/status/1932470954610901259">writes this</a>:
<blockquote>These are sensitive, complicated issues that I truly don’t have the answers or solutions to, but I believe it starts with empathy and respect. I was not advocating for policies that compromise fairness in women’s sports. My objection is to be singling out children for public scrutiny in ways that feel personal and harmful. Individual athletes—especially kids—should never be the focus of criticism of a flawed system they have no control over. I believe sports organizations have a responsibility to come up with rules supporting inclusion while maintaining fair competition. We all want a future for sport that is fair, inclusive, and respectful. Xoxo Simone.</blockquote>
As far as apologies go, this one obviously should&#8217;ve gone much further. She should&#8217;ve dropped the word salad and stated that boys don&#8217;t belong in girls&#8217; sports, period. And many conservatives are pointing out that her statement sounds phony, like it was crafted by a PR agency or an AI program. They don&#8217;t believe that it&#8217;s sincere. And they&#8217;re right about all of that, of course.
But they&#8217;re also missing the point. The fact that a very famous and popular public figure felt the need to apologize and issue a PR statement after tweeting in support of the trans agenda is a clear sign of a very significant sea change in our culture. It&#8217;s not really important that the statement was insincere or incomplete. What&#8217;s important is that this series of events — any kind of retreat by Simone Biles in this scenario — would have been unthinkable just a few years ago.
It&#8217;s yet another sign of just how thoroughly the Right has won on the issue of gender ideology. If this had happened in, say, 2021, there would have been a whole army of public figures circling the wagons around Simone Biles. That didn&#8217;t happen this time. And that&#8217;s particularly notable because it&#8217;s supposedly &#8220;Pride Month.&#8221; Remember Pride Month? This is supposed to be the time of year when trans activists become even more unhinged and hostile than they normally are. They&#8217;re supposed to be emboldened. They&#8217;re supposed to loudly shut down people like Riley Gaines. They&#8217;re supposed to dominate the conversation, so that no one is allowed to point out that a male just won a girls&#8217; softball tournament.
But no one&#8217;s talking about Pride Month anymore. LGBT activists are too demoralized and discredited to &#8220;celebrate&#8221; at the moment. That&#8217;s the same reason they&#8217;re not defending Simone Biles. It&#8217;s why she was forced to apologize. And it&#8217;s why the Minnesota high school softball league had to shut down its social media feeds. 
Every single one of these liars is aware of the fact that they&#8217;ve lost most of their public support. Yes, technically speaking, Champlin Park High School was named the winner of the state girls&#8217; softball championship. But, as you watch the players and the coaches gloat, it&#8217;s hard not to be reminded of all the other frauds throughout history who simply took things too far, too quickly. Pathetic institutions like Champlin Park High School and the Minnesota State Softball League, along with cowardly mouthpieces like Simone Biles, no longer have the cultural power they had just a few years ago. And with this latest apology — even if it was generated by a PR firm using ChatGPT — it&#8217;s evident that Simone Biles and the rest of the LGBT cult are slowly coming around to the reality of their own irrelevance.

Gender ideology’s war on America’s children has turned its guns on a particularly vulnerable group: children in foster care. Despite a court ruling <a href="https://www.texastribune.org/2024/09/25/paxton-biden-lgbtq-foster-youth/">blocking</a> a Biden-era rule that imposed gender ideology as a condition of serving children who identify as LGBTQ, several states now <a href="https://lambdalegal.org/child-welfare-map/">demand</a> that prospective foster parents affirm the &#8220;gender identity&#8221; of hypothetical children they might foster one day. Vermont has taken this egregious stance even further, telling one Christian family that they presented too much of a risk, that they would raise children sharing their beliefs.
Decenda and Frank Cram were “blindsided” when Vermont state officials denied their application to become foster parents because of their “belief system.” State officials added that “if children in their home are raised with the same beliefs it could perpetuate further discrimination of the LGBTQ community.”
Two other Christian families – the Wuotis and the Gannts – also failed Vermont’s ideological litmus test and so were denied the chance to foster. Represented by <a href="https://adflegal.org/">Alliance Defending Freedom</a>, they are <a href="https://adflegal.org/article/vermont-imposes-gender-ideology-litmus-test-foster-parents/">pushing back</a>. Their case is currently under review by a three-judge panel of the Second Circuit court of appeals. The Crams <a href="https://conscience-project.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/CP-Amicus-Brief-06.06-.pdf">shared their experience</a> as friends of the court in support of the families.
Decenda Cram, like many foster parents, was a foster child herself, entering care when she was only six years old. Her first foster parents were devout Christians and eventually adopted her. “I think ever since then,” she says, “I just thought someday I wanted to give back &#8230; I definitely wanted to return the favor in some way.”
Frank credits Christian neighbors for helping him turn around his own life. “If it wasn&#8217;t for a Christian family back when I was out in Arizona, I probably would&#8217;ve been getting in more and more trouble,” he explains.
The Crams, both devout Christians, hoped, in Frank’s words, to offer needy children “a home, unconditional love, understanding – the whole nine yards.” In October 2020 the couple applied to be foster parents. Decenda recalls that “we made it clear that we were Christians, and we asked if that was going to pose a problem with foster parenting. And we were reassured by a higher up in the state’s Department of Children and Family Services (DCF): ‘We don&#8217;t discriminate against anyone for any reason.’”

Although they had not completed the licensing process, Decenda and Frank were called to take in a pair of sibling girls, ages nine and fourteen, in December 2020. The girls stayed with the Crams for a month and a half before one of the girls’ relatives assumed custody. We “worked out very well as a team in taking care of them,” says Frank. Decenda agrees, adding that “Frank and I worked beautifully as a parenting team.” Their initial DCF worker and the relative that the girls moved in with when they left us “all commended us for doing such a good job with the girls.”

Given their success caring for the two sisters, the Crams thought they would be licensed as foster parents. They were surprised when the licensing process turned hostile.
Decenda recalls a different official telling her during a phone interview that “Vermont has recently taken a stance.” This “stance” is that no foster families can be considered unless they are willing to fully embrace the LGBTQ community. Despite the clear desire and ability to provide a safe, loving home for children in need, the Crams were denied a license to foster.
According to the denial letter sent to the Crams in June 2021, the Cram’s “fundamental belief&#8221; about &#8220;God&#8217;s plan for all of us,” would “not meet the emotional or developmental needs of children.”
“It felt like I&#8217;d lost a child,” laments Decenda. Frank says that “It really broke my heart. It&#8217;s like, here we are. We&#8217;re willing to give our home and our time and effort to help these children.”
Vermont’s behavior is inexcusable: its exclusion of prospective foster and adoptive parents based on their sincerely held religious beliefs is blatant religious discrimination and adds to the injury already suffered by children in need.
The Crams are hopeful that the Second Circuit will order Vermont to stop its discriminatory policy so they can open up their home to children in need. As Frank says, “all things can work out by God&#8217;s grace.”

Dr. Henry Mosley of Johns Hopkins University condemned the “gender ideology” movement, citing the lived experience of his granddaughter, who fell victim to what he describes as “medical malpractice,” IW Features <a href="https://www.iwfeatures.com/profile/johns-hopkins-professor-says-granddaughter-prishas-trans-diagnosis-was-medical-malpractice/">reported</a>.  
Mosley, a physician epidemiologist, and professor emeritus at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, first realized the dangers of “gender ideology” when his 16-year-old granddaughter Prisha told him she was transgender. As Mosley’s career largely focused on family planning and preventing abortions, controversy was nothing new to him, but he was not keen on accepting his granddaughter&#8217;s “transgender” diagnosis. 
“I called her counselor, who just completely put me off. She said I didn’t know what I was talking about,” Mosley stated to IW Features. “My son, Jonathan Mosley, who’s a physician, also spoke with her, but there was nothing we could do to persuade her that Prisha was mentally ill.”
According to Mosley, Prisha’s counselor was adamant that her distress stemmed from her family not affirming her “trans” identity. Despite this, Mosley observed that Prisha was self-harming, attempting suicide, and “having all kinds of serious mental health problems.” 
The American Medical Association (AMA) <a href="https://journalofethics.ama-assn.org/article/should-mental-health-screening-and-psychotherapy-be-required-prior-body-modification-gender/2016-11">guidelines</a> require mental health screening and psychotherapy for gender-confused patients, the lack of which ultimately led to Prisha’s decline. 
“[Gender ideology] is like a cult or a religion, and you can’t persuade people who have certain religious beliefs that they are contrary to science,” Mosley said.

Like many trans-identifying individuals, Prisha broke away from her family and integrated into a transgender community in Florida. During this time, Mosley kept in communication with her and said he would support her in any way he could. 
“When she broke up with her partner and decided to leave Florida, we helped her,” Mosley said. “She had found a job in Michigan, and we rented her a truck and helped her make the move.”
While living in Michigan, Prisha chose to detransition, and since then, she’s become an advocate, bringing awareness to the dangers of “gender ideology.”
“I’m grateful that people in my family are listening to me and care about the damage that happened,” Prisha told IW Features. “People trust doctors, but recently, doctors working with patients who claim to be trans have been dishonest and harmful.”
Prisha has <a href="https://ncfamily.org/nc-detransitioners-lawsuit-first-to-proceed-in-court/">filed a lawsuit</a> against the medical professionals who pushed her to transition, as have many other detransitioners. Mosley said the underlying issue is money and that the “lawsuits are going to have a huge impact.” 
“Her mental illness was not relieved at all by transition,” Mosley said. “She was told that ‘You’re really a male, and if you just transition, life is going to be good.’ Well, of course, none of her mental health symptoms were alleviated by living as a male.” 
Mosley followed in his granddaughter’s footsteps by becoming an advocate for children vulnerable to this ideology, <a href="https://cnsmaryland.org/2025/03/13/lawmakers-seek-to-ban-gender-affirming-medication-for-minors/">testifying</a> at the Maryland State House and urging lawmakers to ban “gender-affirming care.” He also published an <a href="https://www.baltimoresun.com/2025/03/21/schools-not-the-place-to-discuss-transgender-ideology-reader-commentary/">op-ed</a> in the Baltimore Sun, where he says “gender ideology” should be kept out of schools. 
Unfortunately, Mosley said he has not been able to have an impact on Johns Hopkins, where he says his medical records at the university have been changed from saying “sex” to “sex assigned at birth.” 
“I emailed the CEO of the medical school with a little information about biology, and he never responded,” Mosley said. 
Mosley refers to what happened to his granddaughter and others as “medical malpractice” in the gender medicine field, and he said he will continue to be outspoken about it.

Topline: Tensions between the United States and China flare up amid a major defense summit in Asia.
A major defense summit in Asia called the Shangri-La Dialogue that began Saturday has already led to some positive partnerships – as well as the U.S. and China trading barbs. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned about China’s growing military threat, while China accused the United States of “stoking flames and creating tensions in the Asia-Pacific.”
“China is ‘preparing to use military force’ to alter the situation there in Asia,” Hegseth <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/31/world/video/hegseth-singapore-china-threat-taiwan-vrtc">said</a>. “There’s no reason to sugarcoat it. The threat China poses is real, and it could be imminent.”
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard told The Daily Wire that despite saber rattling from Beijing, it’s unlikely that they’ll engage in military action against regional rivals in the immediate future. Gabbard also told The Daily Wire that much of the conference was spent working with allies to shape policy on a range of issues, not only with respect to China, but also counterterrorism operations and joint law enforcement efforts against cartels and other international criminal organizations engaged in drug trafficking, human trafficking, sex trafficking, and other illegal enterprises across international borders.
“The overwhelming message that [Secretary Hegseth] delivered is the message that we hear from President Trump, which is that he is the president of peace,” Gabbard said. “The goal here within this region, as well as in others around the world, is to be able to achieve that … to come together and engage in dialogue, engage in diplomacy … [and] best pursue our goal of peace and stability that best serve our respective peoples in our countries and around the world.”

Topline: The debate over transgender-identifying athletes in women’s sports is flaring up again, this time in California, where, in defiance of federal policy, a 16-year-old male won two state track and field titles.
On Saturday, protesters gathered outside a stadium in Clovis, California, which was hosting the California Interscholastic Federation State Track and Field Championships. AB Hernandez, a junior male athlete, took first place in the girls’ high jump and triple jump, and second in the long jump. Some held “Save Girls’ Sports” signs, while others supported Hernandez with pro-transgender messages. An airplane even flew overhead with a banner reading “No Boys in Girls’ Sports,” funded by groups like the Independent Council on Women’s Sports. Meanwhile, a pro-trans protester was arrested for assaulting a “Save Girls’ Sports” demonstrator.
Hernandez’s victory flies directly in the face of President Trump’s February 5 executive order, titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,&#8221; which bars boys who identify as girls from competing in women’s and girls’ sports, citing fairness for female athletes. Trump specifically called out Hernandez on social media, claiming he’s “practically unbeatable,” and threatened to cut federal funding to California if Hernandez competed. California, however, upheld its state law, which allows transgender-identifying students to play based on their professed gender identity.
The U.S. Department of Justice has now launched a Title IX investigation into whether California’s policies violate girls’ rights.
Julie Hamill, President of the California Justice Center, told <a href="https://x.com/JenniferSey/status/1928801014678696268">CNN</a> that California deserves to lose federal funding over its defiance of Title IX policy, and she thinks Hernandez is being mistreated here as well.
“I view AB Hernandez as the victim in this situation,” Hamill said. “I feel for him, and I feel that he has been lied to for his entire life, and it&#8217;s probably very destabilizing and difficult for him right now to realize that what he&#8217;s been told is not actually reality. He cannot become a girl. What he can do is compete in the male category.”

President Trump announced a blockbuster deal to bring billions of dollars in new investments to the American steel industry. The news comes as a near record number of Americans say the country is heading in the right direction.
In 2023, Japan’s Nippon Steel offered $15 billion to acquire the iconic U.S. Steel, the second-largest steel producer in America. The company’s board and shareholders approved the sale, but President Joe Biden blocked the acquisition, saying it was critical to national security to maintain American ownership of U.S. Steel. But over the weekend, President Trump announced that after lengthy negotiations, Nippon had agreed to a merger that would preserve American ownership of U.S. Steel. The agreement requires that a majority of the company’s board be American citizens, and C-suite employees, including the CEO, must be American as well. The U.S. government itself will hold a “golden share” of the company, giving it veto power over key decisions.
“We&#8217;re going to produce our own metal, unleash our own energy, secure our own future, build our country, control our destiny,” Trump said during the announcement in Pennsylvania. “We are once again going to put Pennsylvania steel into the backbone of America like never before.”
As part of the agreement, Nippon will invest more than $14 billion into new steel facilities across Indiana, Minnesota, Arkansas, and Alabama — some estimates say the deal will create nearly 150,000 new American jobs. According to Trump, every U.S. Steel employee will receive a $5,000 bonus. As part of his effort to protect American steel manufacturing, the president also announced he would double the tariff on foreign steel from 25% to 50%.
Last month, amid tariff uncertainty and fears of a recession, President Trump’s <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/approval/donald-trump/approval-rating">job approval rating</a> was on the decline, falling on average to 45% approval and 52% disapproval. But following a flurry of trade deals and encouraging jobs and inflation reports, he’s gaining ground fast and is now less than two points underwater, with a 48% average approval rating, which is higher than at any point in his first term. Nearly 44% of Americans now say the country is on the right track, the highest share since President Barack Obama’s first year in office in 2009.
<h2>Egyptian National Attacks Pro-Israel Demonstration, Detained By Authorities</h2>
At least six people were injured Sunday afternoon in a firebombing attack at a pro-Israel event in Boulder, Colorado. Police say victims suffered “injuries consistent with burns.” Officials detained the suspect and have since identified him as Mohamed Sabry Soliman. Three DHS senior officials told <a href="https://x.com/BillMelugin_/status/1929343593602597179">Fox News</a> that the suspect is an Egyptian national who illegally overstayed his visa after entering the United States during the Biden administration. FBI Director Kash Patel said the bureau is “fully investigating” what they believe to be a “targeted terror attack.”

The YMCA scrubbed guidance from its website saying that its campers should have access to bathrooms and cabins based on their gender identities after a campaign from a conservative parent group warned about the organization&#8217;s transgender policies. 
On Wednesday, The Daily Wire exclusively reported that American Parents Coalition had <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/parents-sound-alarm-on-ymca-camps-allowing-men-in-girls-showers-and-cabins?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=3&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Parents+Sound+Alarm+On+YMCA+Camps+Allowing+Boys+In+Girls%E2%80%99+Showers+And+Cabins" target="_blank" rel="noopener">warned</a> its followers that YMCA camps across the country allow boys who identify as girls into female facilities. By Friday, the YMCA had either scrubbed or restricted access to much of the content on its website related to gender ideology and diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
“After being called out for prioritizing radical, gender ideology over child safety, the YMCA is scrambling to delete and hide the evidence,” American Parents Coalition Executive Director Alleigh Marré told The Daily Wire. “The YMCA can delete and hide as many web pages as they want, but American Parents Coalition will continue to push for policies that protect girls in sports and in private spaces.”
dOne of the <a href="https://www.ymca.org/ystories/youth-teen-development/create-safe-spaces-for-lgbtq-campers">pages</a> that appears to have been removed from the website was called “How to Create a Safe Space for LGBTQ+ Campers” and was posted in 2017.  This archived <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240614040539/https://www.ymca.org/ystories/youth-teen-development/create-safe-spaces-for-lgbtq-campers">page</a> included recommendations that “all campers and staff have access to the facilities aligned with their gender identity and comfort within facility and resource limitations.” 
Other recommendations included working to “confound gender-based assumptions,” using “gender-neutral (or self-identified) pronouns,” marketing featuring same-sex couples or transgender individuals, partnering with organizations that “serve the LGBTQ+ community,” and celebrating Pride month. 
Already at YMCA facilities across the country, women and girls have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/82-year-old-woman-sues-after-disturbing-trans-incident-at-ymca-pool" target="_blank" rel="noopener">complained</a> about the presence of males in their locker rooms and shower areas. And certain camps, such as Camp Olson in Minnesota, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/parents-sound-alarm-on-ymca-camps-allowing-men-in-girls-showers-and-cabins?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=3&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Parents+Sound+Alarm+On+YMCA+Camps+Allowing+Boys+In+Girls%E2%80%99+Showers+And+Cabins" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stipulate</a> that access to restrooms and overnight accommodations be based on gender identity.

Another YMCA webpage that was <a href="https://www.ymca.org/ystories/y-community/affirming-lgbtq-communities-with-pride" target="_blank" rel="noopener">restricted</a> was called “Affirming LGBTQ+ Communities with Pride.” This page <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20250120190630/https://www.ymca.org/ystories/diversity-equity-inclusion/affirming-lgbtq-communities-with-pride" target="_blank" rel="noopener">directed</a> visitors to radical organizations like the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/schools-across-u-s-push-kids-to-chatrooms-where-they-can-talk-transgenderism-with-lgbtq-adults" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Trevor Project</a>, the Human Rights Campaign, and the Gay, Lesbian &amp; Straight Education Network (GLSEN). 
The page also recommended working “with local officials, organizations and youth groups to ensure that policies support the LGBTQ+ community.”
A <a href="https://www.ymca.org/ystories/youth-teen-development/books-to-teach-empathy-kindness#:~:text=A%20Chair%20for%20My%20Mother,chair%20for%20all%20to%20enjoy." target="_blank" rel="noopener">page</a> with book recommendations for children was also restricted. One of the <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20241112183430/https:/www.ymca.org/ystories/youth-teen-development/books-to-teach-empathy-kindness" target="_blank" rel="noopener">books</a>, aimed at children ages 4-7, was “George,” by Alex Gino, which describes a gender-confused boy.
“When people look at George, they see a boy. But George knows she’s a girl. George thinks she’ll have to keep this a secret forever until her teacher announces the title of the class play. This book is the candid and heartwarming story of a transgender girl and the support of her friends,” the description posted by the YMCA reads. 
Also <a href="https://www.ymca.org/ystories/y-community/showing-up-as-my-whole-self" target="_blank" rel="noopener">restricted</a> were similar pages on the YMCA’s promotion of Pride including a <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20250120095842/https:/www.ymca.org/ystories/diversity-equity-inclusion/showing-up-as-my-whole-self" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blog post</a> by self-described “queer transgender woman” talking about how the YMCA of Greater Boston marched together in a Pride Parade. Another similar <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20250218123149/https://www.ymca.org/ystories/y-community/thank-you-my-allies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a> discussed the YMCA of the USA’s National LGBTQ+ Steering Committee. 
Other DEI-themed pages and the <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240801054953/https:/www.ymca.org/who-we-are/our-leadership/executives/lynda-gonzales-chavez" target="_blank" rel="noopener">biographies</a> of employees working with DEI roles are restricted. For example, the bio page for Lynda Gonzales-Chavez, who was the YMCA’s Senior VP/Chief Global Diversity, Equity And Inclusion Officer, is no longer visible. Her role is now described as Chief Global Relations and Community Engagement Officer at YMCA.
Marré was not impressed with the removal of the LGBT-themed content. 
“Parents deserve complete transparency and accountability when it comes to their children. Make no mistake, until the YMCA announces new policies to safeguard children, they are only concealing the evidence,” she told The Daily Wire. “As parents, we cannot stop applying pressure to these institutions. This is just the first step in protecting our children from spaces that defy biological truth.”

As kids prepare to head off to summer camp, a conservative group is warning parents that their daughters may not be safe at YMCA facilities across the country.
The American Parents Coalition on Wednesday urged parents to &#8220;beware&#8221; that the YMCA determines access to overnight cabins, locker rooms, and showers on the basis of gender identity. The coalition says that many YMCA facilities may not inform parents that boys could be bunking or showering with female campers, raising safety and privacy concerns.
“Parents deserve the truth — especially when it involves the possibility that their children could be put in a situation where they’re expected to share private spaces with members of the opposite sex,&#8221; American Parents Coalition Executive Director Alleigh Marré told The Daily Wire.
&#8220;Too many YMCA branches are putting gender ideology ahead of child safety by allowing locker rooms, showers, and cabins to become a free-for-all. This is unacceptable. Parents must question their local YMCA to ensure their child’s safety and advocate for sex-based spaces where they do not exist.”
Nationally, the YMCA <a href="https://www.ymca.org/ystories/youth-teen-development/create-safe-spaces-for-lgbtq-campers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recommends</a> that &#8220;all campers and staff have access to the facilities aligned with their gender identity and comfort within facility and resource limitations.&#8221; The recommendations also suggest including transgender-identifying individuals in camp marketing.
YMCA camps and facilities across the country have adopted these guidelines, allowing females to be exposed to males in bathrooms or bunk with a person of the opposite sex. For example, Camp Olson in Longville, Minnesota, says access to facilities is based on gender identity, not sex.
&#8220;Access to gendered spaces (e.g. restrooms, overnight accommodations) should be based on gender identity. Sex assigned at birth, physical characteristics, or presentation should not dictate the use of gendered space. Trans individuals may select either restroom,&#8221; the camp&#8217;s <a href="https://campolson.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/LGBTQ-Inclusion-Policy.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">guidelines</a> say. &#8220;Requiring someone to use a bathroom or other gendered space of the gender they do not identify can be detrimental to an individual&#8217;s well-being and safety and puts Camp Olson at risk for discrimination complaints.&#8221;
The policy adds that if a female is uncomfortable using the same facility as a male identifying as female, then the female should use an alternate space, saying that &#8220;no one should be required to use an alternative restroom because they are trans.&#8221;
Rooming assignments at Camp Olson are also based on &#8220;gender identity,&#8221; with &#8220;requests taken into account for comfort and safety. All campers will be asked to select a cabin gender where they will feel most comfortable for that session upon registration.&#8221;

The guidelines also stipulate that the camp does not need to inform parents if a camper decides to identify as transgender at the camp.
&#8220;If an individual comes out and/or chooses to be their authentic self at Camp Olson, this means they feel safe and brave enough to share a personal part of themselves that others may not see, understand or accept. It is crucial to note that an individual should not be outed without their permission, whether intentionally or accidentally, to other participants, staff, or their own families,&#8221; the camp says.
The Lakeland Hills YMCA in New Jersey, the Door County YMCA in Wisconsin, and the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit have similar policies, the American Parents Coalition says.
The Door County YMCA <a href="https://www.doorcountyymca.org/sites/doorcountyymca/files/2023-09/Locker%20Room%20Guidelines%209.19.23.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">says</a> that all guests &#8220;have the right to use the locker room facilities that correspond with their gender presentation (physical presentation) AND gender identity.&#8221; The policy adds that those &#8220;who are not fully transitioned&#8221; should use the Universal Locker Room. The Daily Wire reached out for clarification on what &#8220;fully transitioned&#8221; meant.
Lakeland Hills YMCA <a href="https://lakelandhillsymca.com/about/terms-policies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">says</a> that its gender identity policy was adopted in part because of New Jersey state law. The New Jersey Law Against Discrimination bans most entities from <a href="https://www.nj.gov/oag/dcr/downloads/fact-Gender-Discrimination-03.06.17.pdf">requiring bathroom use</a> to be dictated by sex, not gender identity.
The American Parents Coalition recommends that parents reach out to their local YMCAs to ensure that they are notified if their child may be forced to share a bathroom or locker room with someone of the opposite sex.

In recent years, the YMCA has seen controversy break out after customers have complained about the presence of males in female spaces. Julie Jaman, an 82-year-old woman from Washington, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/82-year-old-woman-sues-after-disturbing-trans-incident-at-ymca-pool" target="_blank" rel="noopener">was banned</a> for life from her local YMCA after she spoke out after seeing a man in the women&#8217;s changing area.
Jaman said that she saw a man watching two young girls. After complaining about the presence of a male in the female locker room, Jaman was told by pool staff that her language was “discriminatory&#8221; and was later blocked from ever returning. In an ongoing lawsuit, Jaman says that the facility violated her First Amendment rights to free speech.
Other incidents have occurred across the country, from <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/news/male-claiming-to-be-female-under-investigation-for-indecent-exposure-in-ymca-womens-locker-room-honey-im-a-woman/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Missouri</a> to <a href="https://www.daytondailynews.com/local/fairborn-transgender-woman-not-guilty-in-xenia-ymca-indecent-exposure-case/HON655VOQZA2TNBHAPFP46YJAQ/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ohio,</a> where women and girls have complained about being exposed to naked males in the female locker rooms.

Parents Sound Alarm On YMCA Camps Allowing Boys In Girls’ Showers And Cabins

Over two dozen Republican attorneys general are defending President Donald Trump&#8217;s moves to keep women from being housed alongside transgender-identifying men in federal prisons.
Led by Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador, a group of 26 states filed an amicus brief on Friday in support of Trump&#8217;s executive order requiring prisoners to be housed by sex and halting funds for transgender procedures for prisoners. Trump&#8217;s actions to rid prisons of gender ideology currently sit before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit after being blocked by lower federal courts.
“Truth matters — and it’s under attack in our culture today,” Labrador told The Daily Wire on Wednesday. “We’re standing up for biological reality, lawful executive authority, and the dignity and safety of women. If government policy or court rulings deny basic truth, it threatens both public trust and the rights of individuals.”
In February, a federal judge blocked the Trump&#8217;s directive to move transgender-identifying male prisoners out of a female prison, arguing that it violates the Eight Amendment&#8217;s prohibition on cruel and unusual punishment. Two other judges have also blocked the order, including provisions ending funding of transgender procedures for prisoners.
Led by Labrador and Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita, the Republican attorneys general argued Friday that Trump&#8217;s actions to keep men out of women&#8217;s prisons are not bound by the Eighth Amendment.
&#8220;The federal government is charged with preserving the safety of all prisoners in its care, and it has determined that placing transgender-identifying male prisoners in female housing intolerably jeopardizes female prisoners’ well-being,&#8221; they wrote in their legal brief. &#8220;So far as the Eighth Amendment is concerned,  the federal government is free to decide, as it has, that the best and safest solution is to house trans-identifying male prisoners with non-violent male offenders.&#8221;
The Republican officials also noted that there is a great danger that could be posed to women who are forced to shower and bunk alongside males.
&#8220;Housing transgender-identifying males with female prisoners presents its own set of risks. Those risks inure to the harm of female inmates, who  (1) have their rights to privacy and dignity compromised by having to sleep and shower with men, (2) are exposed to elevated possibilities of violence or sexual assault, and (3) will be pressured or coerced into using speech reflecting a belief that conflicts with  biological reality,&#8221; they wrote.

They also argue that the Trump administration should be allowed to deny transgender procedures to prisoners because of the well-documented risks of gender medical interventions.
&#8220;Politically accountable policy makers are better positioned and constitutionally  empowered to decide if, when, and how those treatments should be administered, and the need for deference to the politically accountable branches is particularly high in light  of the medical uncertainty regarding the treatments’ efficacy,&#8221; they wrote.

The brief was signed by the attorneys general of Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming.
Risks to women being housed alongside males are not abstract and are currently the subject of multiple lawsuits across the country. A California man named Tremaine Carrol faces multiple rape charges after he was housed in a woman&#8217;s facility. In Washington, former prisoner Mozzy Clark has sued the state saying it subjected her to multiple sexual assaults because they housed a man in her cell.
The issue is not isolated to the adult prisons as Obama-era regulations states could be required to house boys in all-girl youth prisons as well. As The Daily Wire previously reported, states must consider housing a juvenile male who identifies as a female at a women&#8217;s facility on a case by case basis or risk the loss of federal funding.

House Republicans took major step on Wednesday afternoon towards codifying President Donald Trump&#8217;s efforts to protect children from transgender procedures during a marathon markup session for the &#8220;one, big, beautiful bill&#8221; working its way through Congress.
After a 26-hour budget hearing, the House Energy and Commerce Committee passed a provision from Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) that would block federal dollars funding transgender procedures. This means that Medicaid, Affordable Care Act, and Children&#8217;s Health Insurance Program money will no longer be allowed to fund procedures like removing the breasts of girls who identify as boys or putting children on cross-sex hormones, if the provision makes it through the rest of the reconciliation process.
The provision was included in the committee&#8217;s portion of the Trump-backed budget bill. In a video shared with The Daily Wire, Crenshaw said he believed that ultimately his proposal would become law.
&#8220;I think it will pass the House, I think it will pass the Senate. I think President Trump will sign it into law. Keep in mind, President Trump has already done an executive action on this, but it needs to be codified for it to really take effect. This is a huge win,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You got to protect these kids, the science is clear at this point.&#8221;

He added that it was &#8220;interesting&#8221; that Democrats did not introduce any amendments to block his provision while they did for every other GOP-backed proposal.
&#8220;They know it&#8217;s a losing issue, they know we won this issue. They know to stay away from it. Stay away from kids. Stop doing pseudo-science, scientific experiments on children who would be better off in therapy. We&#8217;re winning.&#8221;
Crenshaw introduced his provision at around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, roughly 25 hours after the committee began its meeting at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
&#8220;This will become law and I couldn&#8217;t be happier about it,&#8221; Crenshaw said. &#8220;Gender transition procedures are the lobotomy of our generation. People will look back on this period, I think with disbelief, I guarantee it. &#8216;Gender-affirming care&#8217; isn&#8217;t healthcare, it&#8217;s fringe science with no proven benefit and enormous risks.&#8221;
Democrat Rep. Nanette Díaz Barragán (CA) referred to Crenshaw&#8217;s comments as &#8220;gibberish&#8221; and attacked Republicans over provisions meant to reform Medicaid.
Crenshaw proposed a similar bill in January. Now, the proposal from the House Energy Committee will go to the House Budget Committee, which will then combine each of the House committee&#8217;s budget proposals into one piece of legislation that will then go to the full House for a vote.
The Texas Republican&#8217;s provision was part of the House Energy Committee&#8217;s commitment to identify $880 billion in spending cuts. Another proposal from Crenshaw was an 80-hour-per-month work, training, or volunteer requirement for able-bodied, working-age adults without dependents to get Medicaid. Exceptions for seniors, pregnant women, caregivers, students, and those with disabilities were given.
If Crenshaw&#8217;s transgender procedures proposal makes it across the finish line, it would cement in law President Donald Trump&#8217;s executive order on &#8220;Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation.&#8221; Trump directed his cabinet to ensure that no federal dollars were going toward hospitals or institutions that promote or perform transgender procedures on children.
Trump&#8217;s executive order called for Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to look at ways to &#8220;take all appropriate actions to end the chemical and surgical mutilation of children&#8221; including by examining Medicaid funding. The Department of Health and Human Services <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hhs-releases-damning-review-of-gender-treatments-for-minors-the-risks-cannot-be-ignored" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released a report</a> earlier this month documenting the risks of transgender procedures for children, including infertility, sexual dysfunction, and cardiovascular disease.
In the other chamber, Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) is pushing for his “No Subsidies for Gender Transition Procedures Act,&#8221; which would prohibit federal dollars from funding any transgender medical procedure, to be included in the reconciliation process.

Rowling&#8217;s efforts to stand for women&#8217;s sex-based rights and private spaces have provoked ire from the radical trans activist crowd — they&#8217;ve labeled her a Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist (TERF) — and they often target her on social media with the latest arguments aimed at shaming her into agreeing with them.

The battle over women&#8217;s sports came to a head for women&#8217;s fencing on Wednesday in a heated congressional hearing where female fencer Stephanie Turner took questions alongside USA Fencing Chairman Damien Lehfeldt, who doubled down on allowing trans-identifying men.
Lehfeldt was subpoenaed to <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/hearing/unfair-play-keeping-men-out-of-womens-sports/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appear</a> before the House Oversight Committee’s DOGE subcommittee for the hearing titled, &#8220;Unfair Play: Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports.&#8221;
Turner was disqualified from a Maryland tournament in March for taking a knee and refusing to compete against a trans-identifying male opponent. She ultimately stepped away from fencing altogether.
&#8220;It took me nearly three years to get up the courage to come out publicly,&#8221; Turner told lawmakers at the hearing. &#8220;That knee I took in protest was a cry for help and an act of desperation.&#8221;

Turner also explained how biological sex impacts performance in fencing, reminding lawmakers that it is a &#8220;combat sport.&#8221;
&#8220;There are elements of speed, power, reaction time, distance control, footwork and blade work — all attributes affected by sex development,&#8221; she <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Turner-Written-Testimony.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in her opening statement. &#8220;It’s unbelievably demeaning to female fencers to put down the differences between men and women and any woman’s loss to a man as a &#8216;skill issue&#8217; or that a woman simply needs to work harder.&#8221;
Ahead of the hearing, Lehfeldt appeared to throw up a middle finger on social media, captioning the post &#8220;Game time,&#8221; but later clarified that he cropped his other finger out of the photo. The uncropped photo <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/usa-fencing-clarifies-chairmans-photo-which-caused-frenzy-before-hearing">shared</a> with Fox News showed Lehfeldt holding up two fingers.

Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) asked Lehfeldt about his response to a mother who said she would move her daughters to a new sport over trans-identifying men in women&#8217;s fencing.
Lehfeldt posted his response to the woman on social media, calling her email &#8220;whiny,&#8221; and going on a bizarre rant to the woman, named Dorothy, in which he referenced “The Wizard of Oz” and told her the only wizard who could help her is “of the grand wizard variety.”
&#8220;I want to be crystal clear. That was an inappropriate message,&#8221; Lehfeldt said during the hearing. &#8220;I regret it, sir. I deleted it shortly after posting it, and I certainly don&#8217;t feel that way anymore.&#8221;

Lehfeld also doubled down in a response to a social media follower who asked him, “Are you okay with cis females being at a disadvantage?” Lehfeldt responded simply, “Yeah.”
After the hearing, Turner said she wanted to see some USA Fencing leaders resign.
&#8220;I&#8217;m going to be pushing for people to resign, to be honest. I&#8217;d like to see some people resign for the comments that they&#8217;ve made, especially publicly, ones that are harassing and meant to humiliate concerned women, mothers and daughters,&#8221; Turner <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/usa-fencing-transgender-controversy-escalates-doge-hearing-social-media-regrets-calls-firings" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
Last month, USA Fencing said it might have to change its policy to bar trans-identifying males from women’s fencing.
“In the event that USA Fencing is guided to change its current stance in accordance with oversight bodies or federal legislation, the new policy states athletes competing in USA Fencing-sanctioned tournaments must compete according to their biological sex,” the organization <a href="https://www.usafencing.org/news/2025/april/18/usa-fencing-board-prepares-for-potential-changes-from-governing-bodies-on-transgender-and-non-binary-athlete-eligibility-policy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a statement.
“The policy will be implemented only if and when one or more governing bodies require these updates,” USA Fencing added.

Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller went on an absolute tear during Thursday morning&#8217;s White House press briefing, reaffirming President Donald Trump&#8217;s commitment to ending &#8220;barbaric&#8221; child gender transitions — whether chemical or surgical — saying that they amounted to &#8220;child torture&#8221; and &#8220;medical malpractice.&#8221;
Miller began with the executive orders issued by President Trump early on — ending policies supported by former President Joe Biden and the Democrats that had allowed men to play women&#8217;s sports and change in their private locker rooms — and then pivoted to more recent moves aimed at ending all gender transition procedures for minors.

&#8220;This administration ended the Biden administration&#8217;s policy and the Democrat Party&#8217;s policy of allowing men into women&#8217;s sports, men into women&#8217;s spaces,&#8221; Miller began. &#8220;We are using every single legal and financial tool we have at President Trump&#8217;s direction to make it clear that schools and universities are and will lose federal funds, as you&#8217;ve seen in Maine, if you allow men to invade women&#8217;s sports and women&#8217;s spaces.&#8221;
Miller went on to say that the administration&#8217;s policies applied to every school in the K-12 system, adding, &#8220;The Department of Justice is also coordinating with state and local law enforcement to fight child abuse in our school system. It is child abuse to change a child&#8217;s gender, particularly if you do not inform the parents. In other words, if a five-year-old or a six-year-old goes to school, or a seven-year-old goes to school, and the teacher tries to turn the boy into a girl and a girl into a boy, that is child abuse, and this administration is treating that as child abuse. And it is a gross violation of parental rights.&#8221;
Miller then directed the message from the administration to hospital systems across the country, saying that they would not be able to funnel taxpayer dollars into gender transition programs.

The Department of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rfk-jr-to-ban-petroleum-based-food-dyes?author=Nathan+Gay&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=RFK+Jr.+To+Ban+Petroleum-Based+Food+Dyes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Health and Human Services</a> (HHS) on Thursday released a comprehensive review of medical interventions for minors experiencing gender confusion, finding that risks for such treatments cannot be ignored and are not supported by science.
The review identified a number of risks associated with intervention, including infertility, sexual dysfunction, and cardiovascular disease.
&#8220;Despite increasing pressure to promote these drastic medical interventions for our nation’s youth, the review makes clear: the science and evidence do not support their use, and the risks cannot be ignored,&#8221; an HHS press release sent to The Daily Wire reads.
&#8220;The &#8216;gender-affirming&#8217; model of care includes irreversible endocrine and surgical interventions on minors with no physical pathology,&#8221; the review summary <a href="https://opa.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/2025-05/gender-dysphoria-report-exec-summary.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;These interventions carry risk of significant harms including infertility/sterility, sexual dysfunction, impaired bone density accrual, adverse cognitive impacts, cardiovascular disease and metabolic disorders, psychiatric disorders, surgical complications, and regret.&#8221;
It also determined that there is &#8220;no independent association between gender dysphoria and suicidality,&#8221; and &#8220;no evidence that pediatric medical transition reduces the incidence of suicide, which remains, fortunately, very low.&#8221;
The review found that the supposed benefits from medical intervention are severely in question and do not outweigh the risks. HHS also said that the perception of a &#8220;consensus&#8221; in support of these treatments is being pushed by medical associations, while dissent is stifled.
&#8220;U.S. medical associations played a key role in creating a perception that there is professional consensus in support of pediatric medical transition,&#8221; the summary review said. &#8220;This apparent consensus, however, is driven primarily by a small number of specialized committees, influenced by WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health). It is not clear that the official views of these associations are shared by the wider medical community, or even by most of their members. There is evidence that some medical and mental health associations have suppressed dissent and stifled debate about this issue among their members.&#8221;
The evidence for benefits from pediatric medical intervention is &#8220;very uncertain,&#8221; the review stated, &#8220;while the evidence for harm is less uncertain.&#8221; Thus, the review suggested, medical professionals should not offer them, even if they are requested.
&#8220;When medical interventions pose unnecessary, disproportionate risks of harm, healthcare providers should refuse to offer them even when they are preferred, requested, or demanded by patients,&#8221; it said. &#8220;Failure to do so increases the risk of iatrogenic harm and reduces medicine to consumerism, threatening the integrity of the profession and undermining trust in medical authority.&#8221;
The review also recognized detransitioners, or individuals who received medical treatment for their gender confusion but later regretted such intervention.
&#8220;The voices of whistleblowers and detransitioners have played a critical role in drawing public attention to the risks and harms associated with pediatric medical transition,&#8221; HHS said. &#8220;Their concerns have been discounted, dismissed, or ignored by prominent advocates and practitioners of pediatric medical transition.&#8221;
Evaluating other forms of treatment for a gender-confused minor, HHS ridiculed the notion that psychotherapy could be deemed &#8220;conversion therapy.&#8221;
&#8220;There is a dearth of research on psychotherapeutic approaches to managing gender dysphoria in children and adolescents,&#8221; the department said. &#8220;This is due in part to the mischaracterization of such approaches as &#8216;conversion therapy.&#8217; A more robust evidence base supports psychotherapeutic approaches to managing common comorbid mental health conditions. Psychotherapy is a noninvasive alternative to endocrine and surgical interventions for the treatment of pediatric gender dysphoria. Systematic reviews of evidence have found no evidence of adverse effects of psychotherapy in this context.&#8221;
The department underscored how minors and their families &#8220;require, and are entitled to, accurate, evidence-based information to guide their decisions,&#8221; and said this comprehensive review is for them, as well as policymakers, clinicians, therapists, and medical organizations.
