In mid-July, California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom signed AB 1955 into law, making his state the first in the nation to ban school districts from alerting parents of their children’s sexuality or if they have adopted gender identities that conflict with those on their school records.

In July 2023, the Chino Valley Unified School District became the state’s first to require parental notification if a student adopted a transgender identity. The following month, California Attorney General Rob Bonta filed a temporary restraining order to bar the district from implementing that policy.

&#8220;Consensus&#8221; is a word you hear a lot these days. And when you hear it, there&#8217;s a good chance you&#8217;re being told to keep quiet about something. For example, you might notice that celebrities are flying an awful lot for people who claim to be concerned about climate change. And you might find it odd that politicians like Barack Obama are buying up giant seaside properties if they think the oceans are about to rise and wipe entire continents off the face of the Earth. And then you might notice that average temperatures in your area haven&#8217;t changed much in the past century.
These kinds of observations might lead you to question whether man-made climate change is really a big deal, or even if it&#8217;s happening at all. And in response, you&#8217;ll be told that your questions are irrelevant. They&#8217;re an affront to science, in fact, because a consensus has already been reached among experts.
One of the effects of this kind of &#8220;consensus&#8221; is that it signals to everyone else in the field — the &#8220;experts&#8221; — that they need to fall in line immediately. Even if they disagree with the consensus view, they understand that they need to keep quiet or else they&#8217;ll face professional consequences. So a declaration of a &#8220;consensus&#8221; can quickly become self-reinforcing. To outsiders, it appears that an entire field is united when really it&#8217;s not.
That&#8217;s been the case with so-called gender-affirming care, which is the established euphemism for the sterilization and butchery of men, women and children in order to affirm their misguided conception of their own identity. Again and again, we&#8217;ve heard that there&#8217;s a &#8220;consensus&#8221; among professional medical associations that these procedures are medically necessary. Everyone from the HHS Secretary to the ACLU and the DOJ have made that claim repeatedly, in state and federal courts as well as the media. And with a handful of exceptions — virtually all of them overseas — no major professional medical association has stepped up to correct the record on this.
This week, that trend finally came to an end.
It turns out that all journalists needed to do was ask some professional medical associations about their views on gender surgeries for adolescents, and the facade of &#8220;consensus&#8221; would come crashing down. That&#8217;s exactly what <a href="https://twitter.com/LeorSapir/status/1823491617157713970" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Leor Sapir</a>, a fellow at the Manhattan Institute, decided to do. He reached out to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, or ASPS, which represents more than 11,000 members — and 90% of the field of plastic surgery across the U.S. and Canada. This is obviously a field that&#8217;s also deeply involved in gender-related surgeries on both adults and minors. Sapir wanted to know what ASPS thought about so-called &#8220;gender affirming care&#8221; for minors.
Here&#8217;s what the society of plastic surgeons sent back.

ASPS currently understands that there is considerable uncertainty as to the long-term efficacy for the use of chest and genital surgical interventions for the treatment of adolescents with gender dysphoria, and the existing evidence base is viewed as low quality/low certainty.</blockquote>

In other words, there is, in fact, no consensus among major medical organizations about any form of so-called &#8220;gender-affirming care&#8221; for minors. That is a lie that&#8217;s been repeated by the Biden administration repeatedly, but it&#8217;s not true. And all it took to establish that it wasn&#8217;t true is for one fellow at the Manhattan Institute to ask the plastic surgeons&#8217; association about this. They apparently weren&#8217;t going to volunteer the information, but when asked, they&#8217;re willing to say in writing that they don&#8217;t endorse any of these alleged &#8220;treatments&#8221; for children. This is how flimsy the &#8220;consensus&#8221; on these gender experiments really is.
This admission from ASPS has massive ramifications for procedures that are underway right now in the United States. As City Journal notes, the WPATH standards — which pretty much all major hospitals follow — doesn&#8217;t specify any strict age minimum for gender surgeries. These are standards that the Biden administration has also defended in federal court. And these standards have been put into practice, apparently without the endorsement of a major medical association like ASPS.
<h4><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-1422-member-exclusive" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WATCH: The Matt Walsh Show</a></h4>
An analysis by the Manhattan Institute, using data from a national insurance database from 2017 to 2023, found evidence that roughly 5,000 to 6,000 double-mastectomies have been performed in this country on girls under the age of 18 in the name of so-called &#8220;gender-affirming care.&#8221; At least 50 of these girls were apparently under the age of 13. That last part bears repeating — In dozens of cases, girls under the age of THIRTEEN have had their breasts removed in order to “affirm” their gender.
These are numbers that both medical associations and politicians routinely lie about. But they&#8217;re verifiable and if anything, they&#8217;re undercounting the actual numbers of these procedures. The insurance database doesn&#8217;t capture out-of-pocket procedures at all, for example. And in some cases, there&#8217;s reason to believe that hospitals are coding these procedures to suggest that they&#8217;re not related to gender dysphoria, even when they clearly are.
For instance, as the Manhattan Institute notes, there&#8217;s been a nearly seven-fold increase in the number of so-called &#8220;nonbinary mastectomies&#8221; that have been performed on minors from 2017 to 2023. These are mastectomies that are intended to make the patient look nonbinary, whatever that means. Actually, we know what it means. It means that these are girls having their bodies permanently surgically altered to look more masculine, even though the girls do not actually even identify as boys. They identify as some other category with no clear definition at all.
The number of these procedures went from 70 in 2017, all the way up to 470 last year. And City Journal <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/article/a-consensus-no-longer#:~:text=The%20number%20of%20procedures%20grew,argue%20amounts%20to%20insurance%20fraud." target="_blank" rel="noopener">found that</a>:
<blockquote>Plastic surgeons who perform these procedures leverage the existing billing code for breast reduction &#8230; a practice some might argue amounts to insurance fraud.</blockquote>
Based on this new revelation from ASPS, insurance fraud might be the least of these doctors&#8217; problems. These procedures could also potentially amount to massive jury verdicts and settlements for medical malpractice and even intentional fraud, which isn&#8217;t covered by most provider&#8217;s insurance policies. That&#8217;s because consensus is a critical concept in medicine. If a doctor treats a patient and ends up harming the patient, it&#8217;s very hard to sue him if he can demonstrate that he was following an established standard of care that everyone agrees on. But if the doctor goes rogue, and disregards the view of major medical associations like ASPS, then there&#8217;s potentially a lot more liability at play.
As malpractice lawyer Kevin Keller told City Journal, medical providers could potentially be looking at more than $10 million in liability for individual cases involving these gender procedures — money they&#8217;d likely have to pay out of pocket.
This is an existential threat to this entire fraudulent industry. And it&#8217;s a threat that&#8217;s becoming much more pronounced lately. For several months now, there have been other signs that the house of cards that is &#8220;gender affirming care&#8221; is about to come crashing down. There was the Cass report to the National Health Service in England, which found that there&#8217;s “no good evidence” justifying any common “interventions” concerning gender identity. Then there was the ruling in the Sixth Circuit upholding Tennessee&#8217;s ban on the castration of children, over the objections of the Biden administration and the ACLU. There were also the leaked WPATH files, which exposed internal communications in which WPATH officials admitted that they didn&#8217;t know what they were doing in many cases. And there was the declaration from the American College of Pediatricians, a relatively small group which called on all major medical organizations to: 
<blockquote>&#8230; stop the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex.</blockquote>
All of those developments have taken place this year. That&#8217;s how quickly the alleged &#8220;consensus&#8221; in this field of &#8220;gender-affirming care&#8221; has broken down, even as the number of people who might seek to access these procedures is increasing.
Gallup just found that nearly 8% of adults currently identify as &#8220;LGBTQ+,&#8221; which is a significant jump from 5.6% just four years ago. And as the Post Millennial reports, many of these new additions to the alphabet umbrella are young people.
<blockquote>For each generation, a person is about twice as likely to identify as LGBTQ as opposed to the generation before.</blockquote>
And of course, many of these young people — particularly the ones who identify as transgender — are highly likely to seek out hormones, surgery, puberty blockers, or some combination of the three.
This is a trend that&#8217;s only possible because of a manufactured, artificial consensus of alleged experts. It&#8217;s a social contagion that has depended on the silence of people who know better. With the statement this week from the plastic surgeons&#8217; association, as unlikely as it was, any pretense of a consensus is now gone completely. It has been demolished as if it never existed — because it didn’t. For the sake of the millions of young people who are still eager to join the gender cult, this entire industry needs to meet the same fate.

To hear the media tell it, the world hates J.K. Rowling.
Ever since she stated her opinion on radical Left-wing gender theory, which happened to be different from the other members of the ruling class’s political party, Rowling has become a target of their vitriol. The best-selling “Harry Potter” author wasn’t like other celebrities who dabbled in dissent, however. Instead of backing down from her stance on trans acceptance, she doubled down.
“If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth,” Rowling shared in a tweet in 2020.
“The idea that women like me, who’ve been empathetic to trans people for decades, feeling kinship because they’re vulnerable in the same way as women—i.e., to male violence—‘hate’ trans people because they think sex is real and has lived consequences—is a nonsense.”

That stance has been impactful for both fans who agree and disagree with her. Several prominent stars from the “Harry Potter” films spoke out against the woman behind the stories that made them internationally known. 
In 2020, Daniel Radcliffe, who played the titular star, wrote an essay for The Trevor Project and apologized for “the pain” Rowling’s comments may have caused transgender identifying individuals, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/harry-potter-actor-daniel-radcliffe-insists-trans-youth-can-tell-us-who-they-are" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
“Transgender women are women,” the actor wrote in the essay. “Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional healthcare associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo [Rowling] or [me].”
Actress Emma Watson (who played Hermione in the movies) also shared her thoughts on X. “Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are,” she wrote. “I want my trans followers to know that I and so many other people around the world see you, respect you and love you for who you are.”
The media has been setting off attacks against Rowling ever since. They disparaged her and claimed fans were abandoning her, and the beloved “Harry Potter” series, in droves. 
“Harry Potter Magic Fades When Creator Tweets,” an NPR article <a href="https://www.npr.org/2020/06/10/873472683/harry-potters-magic-fades-when-his-creator-tweets" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declared</a>. 
“Harry Potter and the Author Who Failed Us,” a Vox story <a href="https://www.vox.com/culture/21285396/jk-rowling-transphobic-backlash-harry-potter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">echoed</a>. 
No doubt the “<a href="https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/how-rich-are-jk-rowling-james-patterson-and-the-other-top-10-richest-authors" target="_blank" rel="noopener">first billion-dollar author</a>” has received backlash online and beyond. But according to a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/90-actresses-reject-roles-in-play-attacking-j-k-rowlings-transgender-stance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">new report</a>, 90 actresses refused to participate in a play allegedly criticizing her, so Rowling must not be as hated as everyone claims she is.

The play in question is called “TERF” and it’s scheduled to run at the Sir Ian McKellen Theatre in Edinburgh from August 2 through August 25. The acronym “TERF” is used as a derogatory term and stands for “trans-exclusionary radical feminist.” Since making the series of tweets, Rowling has become the most well-known of the accused TERFs. 
“This project has met some kind of resistance every step of the way, though I’ve been generally surprised by how difficult it has been for us to recruit the female cast in particular,” creative producer Barry Church-Woods told the Telegraph of the play, according to a previous report from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/90-actresses-reject-roles-in-play-attacking-j-k-rowlings-transgender-stance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire</a>.
“I think it’s fair to say that a few things are coming into play in casting,” he continued.
A description of the production says, “Jo led a blessed life. Literary phenomenon. Cultural icon. And beloved. Completely beloved … until everything went to hell in a broombasket. Now, Jo’s surrogate children – Daniel, Rupert, and Emma – have had enough. It’s time for an intervention.”
TERF’s creative producer and founder of live arts company We Are Civil Disobedience Barry Church-Woods told <a href="https://www.thepinknews.com/2024/06/17/jk-rowling-play-edinburgh-fringe/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PinkNews</a>, “It’s been very tricky casting this show, I think first in part because they’re actually quite iconic roles to take on, but definitely because there’s been a very vocal misinformed backlash to the project since we announced it early 2024.”
“Rowling has also become such a beacon for the issue that we’re dealing daily with the enraged ‘anti-woke’ armies of Breitbart and Fox News. It’s a lot of noise to come up against, and I imagine is quite daunting for anyone who is reading the vitriolic backlash right now,” he added.
“I think there may also be a couple of other factors affecting the casting of the roles,” Church-Woods said. 
Another idea posited for the lack of interest involves a “Harry Potter” television show that is rumored to be in production, which the stars’ talent agents could have their sights on. Being involved in the play could ruin their chances to be cast, the outlet noted.
The self-identified “queer” screenwriter Joshua Kaplan previously said the project isn’t a direct attack on Rowling. He claimed the play’s focus “is on relationships and how Rowling’s opinions have evolved” but is not “interrogating the substance of her opinions.”
“I hope the audience will walk out not with a message but a question. I want people to walk out saying, ‘Maybe I shouldn’t have put that on Twitter the other day,’” he said.
Church-Woods agreed that the play isn’t meant to be a negative statement on Rowling. “It’s ironic that the reporting of this project so far has focused on how the show is critical of Rowling,” he told PinkNews. “Yet we’ve never actually said it is. No-one has read the script yet apart from us and our legal team, and yet still they all hold strong opinions about it.”
Whether the questions raised in the play are explicitly or implicitly directed at Rowling’s stance on the trans agenda is irrelevant. The fact remains that if 90 stars looking for work aren’t interested in taking on the play, there’s a good chance that Rowling isn’t the villain she’s been portrayed as, despite the mainstream media desperately trying to convince us all otherwise.

As Nathaniel Blake <a href="https://wng.org/opinions/the-lies-of-born-this-way-1691493975" target="_blank" rel="noopener">writes</a>, “the LGBTQ movement was built on a lie, and it is now breaking the promises it made to secure support from ordinary Americans.”
That lie is that queer people were “born this way.” The last ten years’ explosion in queer identification, coupled with social science research’s <a href="https://doi.org/10.1038/d41586-019-02585-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">failure</a> to find a gay gene, as well as its <a href="https://doi.org/10.1080/00224499.2019.1577351" target="_blank" rel="noopener">findings</a> that sexuality is fluid, indicate that cannot be true. If people are “born queer,” the explosion in young people identifying as transgender simply wouldn’t be happening.
And it’s clear that identification is encouraged by social conditioning. As journalist Abigail Shrier writes in &#8220;Irreversible Damage,&#8221; “Those who teach gender ideology do not make adolescents transgender. They simply fill kids’ heads with gender options and ideology. Then, when the adolescents do experience a crisis, the heroic solution readily bobs to mind.” The multiple-hundred-fold <a href="https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/949842?form=fpf#vp_2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">increase</a> in children seeking transgender mutilation coinciding with the saturation of culture in queer imagery and ideology indicates that people aren’t born queer — a piece of evidence that erases any claim to legal privileges for immutable characteristics.
The survival of Western culture depends on strong natural families and government structures that protect rather than destroy those families. In homes and institutions like schools whose authority descends from homes, culture is passed on to children authoritatively in the form of normative moral judgments, loyalties, and distinctions. When one learns both at home and in school to restrain one’s passions, it frees the soul to participate in self-government through rational thought and dialogue: logic, argumentation, and debate. This rational self-government culminates in Western culture and its highest expression, the American form of constitutionally limited government.

Sexual politics makes war against Western culture by attacking its origins in the father-headed household. Identity politics is an assault against the families who discipline their sexual relations within lifelong monogamous relationships. Its explicit goal is to overthrow Western civilization by overthrowing marriage and the families marriage naturally creates. Committed Cultural Marxists in the recent past, like the 1970s domestic terror group Weather Underground, followed New Left philosopher Herbert Marcuse’s “theory, outlined in his book Eros and Civilization, that sexual and political liberation are intertwined. They broke up monogamous relationships and asked members to submit their sexuality to the collective in order to surpass bourgeoise norms and ‘commit suicide as a class.’”
Sexual politics seeks to enact the Communist Manifesto’s demand for the “abolition of the family” as a means to abolish property and “bourgeoisie” social norms.  Marxist critical theory’s <a href="https://archive.org/details/marginsofphiloso0000derr">demand</a> for “inverting the hierarchies,” as applied by sexual identitarians, practically <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2017/11/06/bolshevik-revolution-reveals-six-phases-freedom-communist-misery/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">works out</a> to destroying marriage, the relationships between parents and children, and all strong male leadership. This is what sexual revolutionaries mean by their ubiquitous call for “smashing the patriarchy.”
Sexual politics’ true goal is not simply to grant government privileges to a tiny percentage of Americans who claimed discrimination — but who could have found workarounds such as powers of attorney to facilitate hospital visits between homosexual couples, or pro bono lawyers to write their wills and defend them in court. The goal was to destroy organic families as a mediating social institution that naturally limits government. The queer activist Masha Gessen made this explicit at a writer’s festival in 2012.
“It&#8217;s a no-brainer that the institution of marriage should not exist,” <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130501084256/https:/www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/04/29/lesbian-activists-surprisingly-candid-speech-gay-marriage-fight-is-a-lie-to-destroy-marriage/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gessen said</a>, voicing the stance of Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, and the Cultural Marxist Frankfurt School to loud applause. “&#8230;Fighting for gay marriage generally involves lying about what we’re going to do with marriage when we get there. Because we lie that the institution of marriage is not going to change. And that is a lie. The institution of marriage is going to change — and it should change and, again, I don’t think it should exist.”
Queer theorists and practitioners aren’t kidding that they want a Marxist cultural revolution. They have openly proclaimed that everywhere from street protests to “academic” journals for 100 years. This revolution is already well underway in far-left states such as California, Illinois, Minnesota, and New York. LGBT laws that are replacing the normative American way of life and its original form of government are at the spearhead of this violent regime change.

A federal judge ruled on Tuesday that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/texas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Texas</a> did not have to follow guidance from the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/biden-administration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Biden administration</a> which interpreted prohibitions against sex discrimination to include gender identity and sexual orientation. 
The judge ruled that Biden’s Education Department had unlawfully exceeded its authority when it issued guidance in 2021 that opened up the door for schools to be liable for discrimination if they adopted policies like limiting bathroom access on the basis of sex. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued the Biden administration in June 2023 to shield Texas from enforcement of the policy. 
“Nothing in the statute expressly prohibits discrimination based on gender identity or other unexpressed grounds,” U.S. District Judge for the North District of Texas Reed O’Connor wrote in a <a href="https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/images/press/Title%20IX%20Guidance%20Injunction%20Order.pdf">112-page ruling</a>. “And where Title IX allows for differentiation based on sex due to biological differences — such as intimate facilities and athletic teams — recipients may treat persons in accordance with their biological sex without regard to subjective gender identity.”
Paxton’s lawsuit came after the Education Department released a memo on June 22, 2021, <a href="https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/06/22/2021-13058/enforcement-of-title-ix-of-the-education-amendments-of-1972-with-respect-to-discrimination-based-on" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a> that it “interprets Title IX’s prohibition on discrimination ‘on the basis of sex’ to encompass discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.”
The department also said that it would “fully enforce Title IX to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in education programs” for schools that receive federal funding. This means schools could face legal challenges if they had policies in place that said transgender-identifying students would have to use the bathroom facility or play on a sports team based on sex.  
Judge O’Connor disagreed with the Education Department, saying that it was not logical to include gender identity under sex. 
“Title IX explicitly appreciates the innate biological variation between men and women that occasionally warrants differentiation — and even separation — to preserve educational opportunities and to promote respect for both sexes,” the George W. Bush appointee wrote.

The guidance is different from the widely challenged <a href="https://www.ed.gov/news/press-releases/us-department-education-releases-final-title-ix-regulations-providing-vital-protections-against-sex-discrimination#:~:text=The%20final%20rule%20requires%20schools,and%20not%20otherwise%20impermissible%20evidence." target="_blank" rel="noopener">Title IX rules</a> unveiled in April that officially add gender identity and sexual orientation into federal education discrimination law. 
Paxton <a href="https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/news/releases/attorney-general-ken-paxton-secures-major-win-blocking-biden-administrations-attempt-force" target="_blank" rel="noopener">celebrated</a> the judge’s decision, saying Biden’s guidance was dangerous. 
“Joe Biden’s unlawful effort to weaponize Title IX for his extremist agenda has been stopped in its tracks,” Paxton said in a statement on Tuesday night. “Threatening to withhold education funding by forcing states to accept ‘transgender’ policies that put women in danger was plainly illegal. Texas has prevailed on behalf of the entire Nation.”
The guidance had <a href="https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/biden-admin-protections-lgbtq-students-struck-down-by-texas-court-2024-06-11/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously</a> been blocked from being enforced in 20 other states where a coalition of Republican attorneys general had challenged the policy.

Labor Premier Jacinta Allan of Victoria, the second most populous state in Australia, announced on Monday that a new position had been created in her government: &#8220;Parliamentary Secretary for Men’s Behaviour Change.&#8221;
Allan selected Tim Richardson, the State Labor MP for Mordialloc, to fill the position.

Victoria’s health department released a women’s health <a href="https://engage.vic.gov.au/project/lets-talk-about-improving-womens-health-in-victoria/survey/4366#sub-nav">survey</a> last year which stated, “You are invited to complete this survey based on your experiences as a woman or girl managing your health. &#8230; Any references to a woman or women or girl or girls include: cisgender women, transgender women, transgender men, non-binary people and gender diverse people who may be perceived as women, female or feminine (regardless of expression or identity), who may experience similar health issues and/or gender-based discrepancies in care.”

An effort in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/minnesota" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Minnesota</a> to place a right to abortion in the state constitution failed as the narrowly-controlled Democrat Senate was unable to pass the so-called “Equal Rights Amendment” before the legislative session ended for the year.
The amendment would have allowed voters in 2026 to vote to place a right to an abortion into the state constitution and expanded protections against discrimination to gender and sexual identity. The proposed amendment protected the right for women to “become or remain pregnant,&#8221; meaning she could legally end the life of her unborn child.
The state House passed the bill over the weekend; the Senate, which Democrats control by one seat, did not take up the legislation.
The amendment, which passed the Democrat-controlled state House, was <a href="https://alphanews.org/equal-rights-amendment-dies-in-final-hours-of-legislative-session/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">criticized</a> by conservatives, who pointed out that the language that would have been added to the state constitution was different from what would have appeared on the ballot.
The proposed amendment would have read: “persons shall be guaranteed equal rights under the laws of this state. The state shall not discriminate against any person in intent or effect on account of one or more of the following: (a) race; (b) color; (c) national origin; (d) ancestry; (e) disability; or (f) sex, including but not limited to: (i) making and effectuating decisions about all matters relating to one’s own pregnancy or decision whether to become or remain pregnant; (ii) gender identity or gender expression; or (iii) sexual orientation.”
However, the language that voters would have seen at the ballot would have read: “Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to say that all persons shall be guaranteed equal rights under the laws of this state, and shall not be discriminated against on account of race, color, national origin, ancestry, disability, or sex, including pregnancy, gender, and sexual orientation?”
Rep. Kaohly Vang Her, a sponsor of the amendment, <a href="https://www.house.mn.gov/sessiondaily/Story/18387" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that she put forth the legislation because of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

“A case that was as good as law to us was overturned and rights across the country were taken away from many, many individuals looking to make decisions for themselves for their bodily autonomy,” she said. “Whether you&#8217;re somebody who is looking for gender-affirming care or you were someone who was looking to have access to an abortion. We saw those rights being infringed upon.”
Earlier this month, a group of pro-life advocates <a href="https://x.com/AlphaNewsMN/status/1788301369411043528" target="_blank" rel="noopener">showed</a> up at the capitol building to protest the abortion provision.
The failure for Democrats comes as they have just a one-seat majority that has been endangered by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/minnesota-democrat-arrested-over-alleged-burglary-at-stepmoms-home-i-know-i-did-something-bad" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the arrest</a> of one Democrat senator for burglary.

Minnesota Democrats Fail To Move Forward Effort To Put Abortion In State Constitution

On Monday, Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti led a coalition of 18 states in filing a lawsuit against the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) after it released new sexual harassment guidance extending Title VII’s protections against sex-based discrimination to cover gender identity.
On April 29, the EEOC released its new guidance, which insists an employer may be liable under Title VII if they or another employee use a name or pronoun inconsistent with an employee’s preferred gender identity. Not only that, but an employer can be liable by limiting access to a bathroom or other sex-segregated facility, such as a shower or locker room, based on biological sex and not on gender identity. If a customer or other non-employee fails to use an employee’s preferred pronouns or refuses to share a restroom with someone of the opposite sex, the employer could also be sued.
“In America, the Constitution gives the power to make laws to the people’s elected representatives, not to unaccountable commissioners, and this EEOC guidance is an attack on our constitutional separation of powers,” Skrmetti said. “When, as here, a federal agency engages in government over the people instead of government by the people, it undermines the legitimacy of our laws and alienates Americans from our legal system. This end-run around our constitutional institutions misuses federal power to eliminate women’s private spaces and punish the use of biologically-accurate pronouns, all at the expense of Tennessee employers.”
On January 20, 2021, the day President Biden was inaugurated, he signed an “Executive Order on Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation.” That order declared that “laws that prohibit sex discrimination&#8230;prohibit discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation.” Biden directed federal agencies to “fully implement statutes that prohibit sex discrimination” consistent with the administration’s interpretation.
In response to the executive order, Biden’s Department of Education and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission issued guidance documents providing their interpretations of Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
On June 15, 2021, the EEOC issued a “Technical Assistance Document” which purported to explain employers’ obligations with respect to dress codes, bathrooms, locker rooms, showers, and use of preferred pronouns or names.

On June 23, 2021, the Department of Education issued a “Dear Educator” letter to directly notify those subject to Title IX of the Department’s Interpretation. The “Dear Educator” letter reiterated that “Title IX’s protection against sex discrimination encompasses discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity” and explained that the Department “will fully enforce Title IX to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.”
On August 30, 2021, the state of Tennessee led a coalition of states and filed a complaint challenging the legality of the guidance documents issued by the Department and the EEOC in response to Biden’s executive order.  In 2022, the United States District Court Eastern District of Tennessee <a href="https://www.tn.gov/content/dam/tn/attorneygeneral/documents/pr/2022/pr22-23-order.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">granted</a> the injunction.

On Friday, the Biden administration released its new Title IX regulations, and its strictures engendered anger and outrage for those defending traditional values.
The <a href="https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/docs/t9-unofficial-final-rule-2024.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">document</a>, which runs over 1,500 pages, states that the Department of Education “disagrees with the contention that including sexual orientation and gender identity in the scope of §106.10 harms women. Recognizing these bases of sex discrimination under Title IX in no way lessens the force of Title IX’s protections against discrimination that limits educational opportunities for girls and women. Further, discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity is typically motivated by the same sex stereotypes that limit opportunities for women regardless of whether they identify as LGBTQI+.”
The DOE also insisted that the rules apply to elementary schools as well: “The Department appreciates the opportunity to correct the misunderstanding that Title IX is limited to postsecondary institutions. As recipients of Federal financial assistance, elementary schools and secondary schools are also subject to Title IX and its regulations.”
A <a href="https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/docs/t9-final-rule-summary.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">summary</a> of the major provision stated that the 2024 Final Rule “clarifies that sex discrimination includes discrimination based on sex stereotypes, sex characteristics, pregnancy or related conditions, sexual orientation, and gender identity.”
Former Senior Counsel at the U.S. Department of Education Sarah Parshall Perry, now working at the Heritage Foundation, reacted:

Title IX—which was enacted to protect women and girls and provide them equal educational opportunities—has been manipulated so that gender activists and woke politicos can feel good about themselves. Under the new rule, girls and women will no longer have any sex-separated bathrooms, locker rooms, housing accommodations, or other educational programs. Women’s sports are likely endangered too. Any education institution, including many private schools that receive even nominal federal funding, will be affected by this rule. 
The rule also erases other important protections, like due process protections for students accused of sexual misconduct, free speech protections for students and teachers who don’t want to use ‘preferred pronouns,’ and parents&#8217; right to know if their child is in the process of a gender identity ‘social transition’ at school.

It is grotesque that the White House has chosen to capitulate to extremists in his party, sacrificing the First Amendment on the altar of Title IX and disregarding clearly established Supreme Court precedent on the definition of sexual harassment. Extending Title IX to cover gender identity means that schools will no longer have discretion over whether – or how – to provide certain services and activities to students on the basis of self-declared gender identity. 
Title IX was written in 1972 when “sex” meant male and female, and no amount of interpretive jiujitsu permits a cabinet agency to rewrite the plain language of the law. Efforts to do so have failed repeatedly in Congress for one simple reason: such an expansion of law is deeply unpopular, with opposition to these changes spanning both political and racial lines. Scotland&#8217;s proposed new misogyny law will protect trans-identifying men as well as women, First Minister Humza Yousaf said during a <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cw59e7dg2nlo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recent appearance</a> on &#8220;Good Morning Scotland.&#8221;
A bill designed &#8220;to tackle misogyny&#8221; is expected to be introduced sometime prior to the end of the current parliamentary term in 2026 and, according to Yousaf, will include protections for anyone who identifies as a woman regardless of their biological sex.
&#8220;Women and girls will be protected, and trans women will be protected as well, as they will often be the ones who suffer threats of rape or threats of disfigurement for example,&#8221; Yousaf told the program. &#8220;When a trans woman is walking down the street and a threat of rape is made against them, the man making the threat doesn’t know if they are a trans woman or a cis woman. They will make that threat because the perception of that person [is] as a woman.&#8221;
The bill, according to another government spokesperson, will aim to address misogyny by working to &#8220;create a new focus on protecting women and girls to address criminal behavior motivated purely by misogyny.&#8221;
The new law, according to advocates, is necessary because the recently implemented <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-look-forward-to-being-arrested-jk-rowling-torches-scotlands-new-hate-crime-law" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hate Crimes Act</a> does not address crimes against women or rooted in misogyny — although it does offer protections for &#8220;marginalized groups&#8221; like those who identify as transgender.
Author J.K. Rowling responded to the news in a post on X, arguing that including biological males under the law&#8217;s protections meant that the focus was not truly on women and girls at all.

A 38-year-old bearded man was arrested last week in North Carolina on an indecent exposure to a minor charge after allegedly claiming to be a woman and stripping completely naked in a Planet Fitness women&#8217;s locker room, ABC affiliate WSOC-TV <a href="https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/suspect-accused-exposing-themselves-inside-womens-locker-room-planet-fitness/K6ETD7O6I5ERJJK7LBRJN7NK4A/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> on Wednesday.
Christopher Allan Miller allegedly took advantage of Planet Fitness&#8217; <a href="https://www.planetfitness.com/about-planet-fitness/planet-fitness-policies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">policy</a> that allows members to use locker rooms, bathrooms, and showers based on their &#8220;gender identity&#8221; and entered the women&#8217;s locker room at the gym&#8217;s Gastonia, North Carolina, location. He then allegedly disrobed and asked a woman to rub lotion on him and shower together before one woman called 911, sources told WSOC-TV.
“It’s a man but he says he identifies as a woman, and he won’t leave the restroom. But he is just walking around showing us his &#8212; and he won’t leave,&#8221; a woman told the dispatcher.
Miller was booked in the Gaston County, North Carolina, jail and identified as a male in his online inmate entry, The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/04/11/us-news/planet-fitness-member-arrested-after-going-to-ladies-locker-room-claiming-he-identified-as-a-woman/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.

Betty Brice, a member of Planet Fitness, was outraged that a man could claim to be transgender and enter the women&#8217;s locker room.
“I think a woman should be able to go into a woman’s bathroom without a man coming in saying he’s transgender,” Brice said.
In a statement shared with The Daily Wire, Planet Fitness Chief Corporate Affairs Officer McCall Gosselin said, &#8220;At Planet Fitness, the safety of our employees and members is our top priority, and we have zero tolerance for harassment of any kind in our clubs. We took immediate action to ensure the safety of club members, including notifying and working with law enforcement.&#8221;
The incident comes a month after a woman said her Planet Fitness <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/planet-fitness-stock-plunges-after-it-canceled-membership-of-woman-who-photographed-man-in-the-womens-locker-room" target="_blank" rel="noopener">membership was terminated</a> after she reportedly took a photo of a man in the women&#8217;s locker room.

“I received a call this morning at 8:55 AM from Samantha at Planet Fitness announcing that they have chosen to cancel my membership rather than protect youth girls and women 12 years and older that enter the women’s locker room from men with a penis. Instead, they defended the man with the penis, who was shaving in the women’s locker room. Despicable,” Patricia Silva wrote on March 13.
A Planet Fitness spokesman defended canceling Silva’s membership, according to <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13203209/Alaskan-gym-goer-exposed-trans-woman-shaving-female-bathroom-12-year-old-girl-membership-cancelled-Patricia-Silva.html?fbclid=IwAR28oUcPZ4er22YzhEOx4EOQbpw8nTzLk_vIIJb4kTgr12otLs725GJ8F2I" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Mail</a>, saying in a statement, “As the home of the Judgement Free Zone, Planet Fitness is committed to creating an inclusive environment. … Our gender identity non-discrimination policy states that members and guests may use the gym facilities that best align with their sincere, self-reported gender identity. The member who posted on social media violated our mobile device policy that prohibits taking photos of individuals in the locker room, which resulted in their membership being terminated.”
In a recent <a href="https://twitter.com/libsoftiktok/status/1773806864427348060" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> with Chaya Raichick, who runs the popular social media account Libs of TikTok, Planet Fitness founder and former CEO Mike Grondahl <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/planet-fitness-pretty-much-destroyed-150010141.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> the reports on the company&#8217;s policies in the past few weeks have &#8220;destroyed&#8221; it.
&#8220;Planet Fitness was like another child for me. And I put my heart and soul into building that company and it&#8217;s been pretty much destroyed in, ya know, it’s lost all respect within the country within the last couple weeks,&#8221; he said. &#8220;There&#8217;s no common sense standing behind this.&#8221;
Planet Fitness lost around 15% of its stock price within two weeks of Silva going public with her story about encountering a man in the women&#8217;s locker room.
