King cut in then, trying to redirect the conversation: &#8220;But I want to pick up on what Tony was saying. Because I, too, thought that. And you said people said why didn’t members of his inner circle speak up about what many believe was the apparent decline of Joe Biden. And you said you are a member of the inner circle, and you never saw the decline. And after that, I wrote: &#8216;How!?'&#8221;
King could not hide her disbelief as she added, &#8220;You even write, Karine, that you were on the plane with him going to the debate, and you didn’t see anything. It’s so hard to understand!&#8221;
&#8220;Well, when we were on Air Force One going to the debate, you gotta remember, his campaign people were on the team, his family was on the team. [It] was one of those rare trips where I didn’t really see him until after the debate even though I was on the plane,&#8221; Jean-Pierre said. &#8220;So really I take — I want everyone to know that I take this question incredibly seriously. CBS News host Gayle King took issue with those who referred to her eight minutes in space — with an all-female, celebrity-heavy &#8220;crew&#8221; — as &#8220;a ride,&#8221; arguing that it was sexist and &#8220;disrespectful&#8221; to do so.
King responded to critics in an interview with Extra after her Blue Origin space flight — alongside performer Katy Perry and Blue Origin owner Jeff Bezos&#8217; fiancée Lauren Sanchez, among others — returned to earth, also hitting back at those who complained about the expense of such a &#8220;frivolous&#8221; trip.

&#8220;I think it’s good that we can really address it,&#8221; King said. &#8220;Because I was one of those people before I went on this flight and before I became educated on space. ‘Why are we spending so much money on space when there’s so much to do on Earth?’ I was one of those people.&#8221;
King said that part of what had changed her mind was learning that Blue Origin intended &#8220;to figure out a way to harness the waste here and figure out a way to put it in space to make the planet Earth a better place.&#8221;
&#8220;So I wish people would do more due diligence. And then my question is, have y’all been to space? Go to space or go to Blue Origin and see what they do &#8230; and then come back and say, ‘This is a terrible thing,'&#8221; King continued, arguing that if there were more demand for commercial space flights, the cost of such a flight would eventually come down.
King went on to complain about the underlying sexist tone of those referring to the eight-minute space flight as &#8220;a ride,&#8221; saying, &#8220;You never see a man, a male astronaut, who’s going up in space and they say, ‘Oh, he took a ride.’ … It’s always referred to as a flight or a journey, so I feel that’s a little disrespectful to what the mission was and the work that Blue Origin does.&#8221;

&#8220;CBS Mornings&#8221; host Gayle King had to remind House Minority Leader <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hakeem-jeffries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hakeem Jeffries</a> (D-NY) that Vice President Kamala Harris — and Democrats across the board — had lost, and lost big, in the general election held just a week earlier.

Cohost Tony Doukopil suggested that Democrats had some good policies and successes, but had ultimately failed to present them in a way that resonated with the voters. He also argued that the Democratic Party&#8217;s presentation had made especially working class voters feel as though they were not really respected.

CNN axed the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/charles-barkley-rips-san-francisco-during-live-nba-all-star-broadcast-you-cant-even-walk-around-down-there" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Charles Barkley</a> and Gayle King primetime talk show after only six months on the air after it failed to generate ratings.
The “King Charles” show — co-hosted by sports commentator Barkley and &#8220;CBS Mornings&#8221; host King — aired on Wednesday nights and generated worse ratings than reruns of shows like “South Park” and “Friends,” the <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/04/15/media/cnn-axes-charles-barkley-and-gayle-kings-weekly-show-king-charles/?utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social">New York Post</a> reported.
The show launched in November and became the lowest-rated primetime week night show CNN has debuted in at least a decade, according to Nielsen ratings. 
Viewership fell 20% from the debut episode of “King Charles” in November, which was watched by 500,000 viewers, with 139,000 of those in the coveted age demographic of ages 25-54, according to Nielsen. By the end of January, those numbers didn&#8217;t even crack 100,000 mark among that same demographic, Nielsen showed.  Over the show’s 14 episodes, it had an average of 459,000 total viewers, with an average of 106,000 in the advertising demographic of ages 25-54.
It came in third behind Fox News’ “Gutfeld” and MSNBC’s “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell.” The Greg Gutfeld-lead show averages 2.2 million total viewers with more than 300,000 viewers in the 25-54 age demo, the highest of all three cable news outlets, according to Nielsen. While over on MSNBC, O’Donnell scores an average of 1.5 million total viewers and 142,000 in the highly desired age demographic.

An industry insider attributed part of the problem to the NBA Hall of Famer’s rigorous schedule, as he was still a co-host on TNT’s “Inside the NBA” and was only available on Wednesdays.
However, a CNN spokesperson touted the show, stating that it was “a great addition to CNN’s lineup,” noting the shows diversity pull with 44% non-white — the most diverse viewership among the network’s prime time shows, according to Nielsen figures.
CNN also noted that the show was announced as a &#8220;limited run&#8221; series, with an end date of spring 2024, the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/cnn-king-charles-ends-limited-series-1235874249/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hollywood Reporter</a> reported.
&#8220;King Charles has come to the end of its limited run as we announced when it launched last fall and was a great addition to CNN&#8217;s lineup, with the youngest, most affluent, and most diverse P2+ audience in its cable news time period,” the spokesperson said.
“King Charles” was created by fired former CNN boss <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ceo-chris-licht-out-at-cnn-after-tumultuous-year-controversial-trump-town-hall">Chris Licht</a>, whose tenure at the network ended after The Atlantic published a 15,000-word profile titled “Inside the Meltdown at CNN,” a piece that reportedly enraged executives at Warner Bros. Discovery, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ceo-chris-licht-out-at-cnn-after-tumultuous-year-controversial-trump-town-hall">reported</a>.
Last June, Licht announced he was <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2023/06/07/cnn-ceo-chris-licht-out-after-trump-town-hall-atlantic-article.html">leaving</a> the media company — just 16 months after being picked for the position.
His tenure at CNN was rough from the start. Weeks after the former CEO took over the reins, the cable news giant’s attempt at launching a streaming service <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/warner-bros-discovery-is-shutting-down-cnn-after-new-streaming-service-struggled-to-attract-viewers-report">failed</a> after just a month in operation, attracting fewer than 10,000 daily users. The CNN executive also faced criticism from his employees and poor ratings performances in the news channel’s primetime slots.

Retired NBA great <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/charles-barkley-attacks-americans-boycotting-bud-light-rednecks-and-aholes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Charles Barkley</a> said this week that he will punch black Trump supporters in the face if he sees them &#8220;walking around with a Trump mugshot.&#8221;
Barkley made the shocking remarks on his new CNN show with Gayle King, while reacting to remarks former President Donald Trump made about black Americans increasingly supporting him, including even wearing his mugshot on t-shirts.
&#8220;You know who embraced more than anybody else? The black population,&#8221; Trump said, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/nba-hall-of-famer-charles-barkley-threatens-any-black-person-flaunting-donald-trump-mugshot" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Fox News. &#8220;It’s incredible. You see black people walking around with my mugshot – you know they do shirts.&#8221;
Trump added that some black supporters of his have said he is being discriminated against.
King played the clip of Trump&#8217;s remarks, eliciting a long sigh from Barkley.
&#8220;First of all, I’m just gonna say this: If I see a black person walking around with a Trump mugshot, I’m gonna punch him in the face,&#8221; the basketball star said.
Trying to temper Barkley&#8217;s remarks, King responded, &#8220;You don&#8217;t mean that.&#8221;
&#8220;Oh, I mean that sincerely,&#8221; Barkley reacted, adding that if he&#8217;s charged for assault, he would bail himself out &#8220;and go celebrate.&#8221;
&#8220;First of all, if I was at that [conference], I would’ve got up and walked out,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;That was an insult to all black people. To compare black history, where we’ve been discriminated against, to his plight.&#8221;
&#8220;It’s not a fair comparison,&#8221; Barkley said, asserting that Trump is guilty of the civil and criminal crimes he&#8217;s been charged with. &#8220;He’s a billionaire, he’s had a great life, he’s been President of the United States. To insult black people who have been discriminated against all these years and put them in the same category, I was just offended.&#8221;

Critics slammed CBS anchor Gayle King over an interview with a man whose 8-year-old daughter was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and taken into Gaza on October 7.
King spoke with Thomas Hand, an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/grieving-father-says-he-was-relieved-to-learn-his-8-year-old-daughter-killed-not-taken-to-gaza-by-hamas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Irish-born man</a> who came to Israel as a volunteer some thirty years earlier and, despite plans to stay only a few months, never left. He survived the massacre on October 7 only to receive the news that his eight-year-old daughter Emily had likely been killed.
In the weeks since, Hand learned that his daughter is believed to be among the hostages who were taken by Hamas back into Gaza after the initial attack — and when he spoke to King about her, the CBS anchor paused to remind him that Palestinian children were suffering too.

Former NBA star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/theyre-all-crooks-charles-barkley-slams-the-idea-of-getting-politicians-involved-in-college-sports" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Charles Barkley</a> said people are warning him against joining <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ceo-chris-licht-out-at-cnn-after-tumultuous-year-controversial-trump-town-hall" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN</a> to co-host a show slated to debut this fall. 
The fan-favorite “NBA on TNT” analyst will host a prime-time <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-launches-new-show-featuring-former-nba-star-and-a-leftist-news-host">CNN show</a> titled “King Charles” alongside “CBS Mornings” anchor Gayle King beginning in the fall, but Barkley said “everybody” is telling him to “abort” the planned show, presumably because of the network’s continued leadership and ratings struggles.
“Apparently, with this new talk show, I’m jumping on the Titanic,” Barkley said while making a guest appearance on the “NHL on TNT” during the Stanley Cup Finals.
“Everybody keeps saying ‘abort, abort.’ No, no. I am looking forward to it. Gayle is awesome,” Barkley added.

CNN’s ratings have plummeted in the past year. Despite a boost from a town hall with former President Donald Trump, CNN posted a 25% viewership decline in May compared to a year ago, The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/06/01/cnn-ratings-crater-in-may-despite-bump-from-trump-town-hall/">reported</a>. In March of this year, CNN saw its lowest-rated month since April 2015.
The network has undergone some major changes since Barkley’s show was first announced by ex-CEO Chris Licht in April. Last week, Licht announced he will be leaving CNN after meeting with Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav. Licht will be replaced in the interim by a three-person leadership team as CNN searches for a new CEO.   
Barkley, who has routinely criticized cancel culture and both political parties, said that he wants his new show to be “nonpolitical,” but added that it will touch on political topics. Barkley’s co-host King has anchored CBS&#8217; morning shows since 2011 and has been criticized for favoring Democrats. The journalist <a href="https://pagesix.com/2017/04/20/old-school-journalists-pissed-about-gayle-kings-vacation-with-the-obamas/">vacationed</a> with the Obamas shortly after President Barack Obama left the White House in 2017 and has <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/scott-whitlock/2020/08/11/gayle-kings-history-dem-donations-and-vacations-obamas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">donated</a> to Obama and the Democratic Party.

CNN CEO Chris Licht announced over the weekend that left-wing network is launching a new show featuring former NBA star Charles Barkley and CBS host Gayle King.
The new one-hour program will reportedly launch this fall on Wednesday nights and will continue through 2024.
&#8220;I am thrilled to share that CNN will be home to a new show featuring the extraordinary duo of Gayle King and Charles Barkley, aptly titled King Charles, which will air weekly in primetime beginning this fall and running into 2024,&#8221; Licht said in a statement. &#8220;This show will be an exciting new way we are delivering culturally relevant programming and unique perspectives to our audience, from two incredibly dynamic personalities.&#8221;
&#8220;We are excited that they are both able to join us in addition to their current respective roles with Gayle continuing to anchor CBS Mornings,&#8221; he added. &#8220;King Charles exemplifies the one-team, one-company mentality with Charles playing double duty at CNN and in his role at WBD Sports.&#8221;
Barkley, who currently works as an NBA analyst, sat down with King on TNT&#8217;s NBA Tip-Off to discuss the new show.
“I want the show to be nonpolitical,” Barkley <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/charles-barkley-gayle-king-host-021000729.html">said</a>. &#8220;We don’t want to say we’re a Liberal, Conservative, Republican, Democrat; that’s one of the things that’s already ruined television in general.”

“I think that decorum and courtesy and kindness always work,” King said. “But everybody I know has an opinion on something. We just need to figure out a way to have a good conversation without tearing each other down. And I think we can do that.”

King began by pointing out the fact that Biden&#8217;s speech was being viewed by some as a &#8220;soft launch&#8221; for his 2024 presidential campaign — and that supporters had been pleased with his performance despite criticism from the Right over <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/joy-reid-claims-bidens-garbled-speech-is-proof-his-age-is-not-a-factor-brit-hume-disagrees/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">false statements and fumbles</a>. Her question to Harris was simple: if Biden runs in 2024, will the ticket still be Biden-Harris?
&#8220;How are you feeling about the job these days — that you&#8217;re doing — and people&#8217;s perception of you on the ticket?&#8221; King asked.
&#8220;Well, let me first of all say, as the president has said, that he intends to run and if he does, I’ll be running with him,&#8221; she said.
Harris also shared her response to Biden&#8217;s speech, saying that she felt he had remained &#8220;in command&#8221; of the situation throughout his remarks, even in the face of what she called &#8220;theatrical&#8221; behavior from Republicans during the event.

Harris, in the same vein as Biden did in his address, touted the bipartisan infrastructure law and the projects that had already begun as a result of its passage. She recognized that the Biden administration had not yet done everything they&#8217;d promised or wanted to do, adding, &#8220;We know there’s still work to be done.&#8221;
King concluded the interview with a question about classified documents and what Harris thought needed to be done differently with regard to handling sensitive information: &#8220;It seems to be equal opportunity screw-ups on both sides.&#8221; The vice president demurred, saying only that she believed there were protocols in place that were being followed to the letter.
&#8220;All right, thank you for your time, Madam President,&#8221; King said then, bringing the interview to a close.

Concerning the case, King noted that both sides had made some pretty awful accusations — and both Depp and Heard had admitted to doing things that did not necessarily paint them in the most flattering of lights.
&#8220;Clearly, he won in the court of public opinion. Clearly, he won legally, too. But was he damaged in any way because of this?&#8221; King asked.
&#8220;I think he came into this case thinking he had nothing else left to lose, Gayle,&#8221; Vasquez replied. &#8220;And I think for him it was he had to put it all out there.&#8221;
Vasquez went on to say that <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/crocodile-tears-juror-reveals-what-tipped-the-scales-in-johnny-depp-amber-heard-trial/">Depp&#8217;s</a> legal team — composed primarily of younger associates — had probably compensated for their youth by over-preparing.
&#8220;I think the pressure of it all made us probably over-prepare. So we were really prepared and I think that can’t be understated,&#8221; she explained.
&#8220;You know, there were also — with all of the fame also comes all the, pettiness, some cattiness and some could say hatery, I call it, because there are a lot of social media rumors that you and Johnny Depp were romantically involved,&#8221; King said.
Vasquez acknowledged that she was aware of the rumors.
&#8220;Why do you think those rumors started? And what did you think when you heard them?&#8221; King asked.
&#8220;It was disappointing to hear them, but I think they started because people like love stories. They like to make things up. Right? Um, doesn’t mean they’re true. And obviously in this case, they weren’t true. Never have been true,&#8221; Vasquez denied the rumors unequivocally.
&#8220;I think people thought, well, you know, they are kind of touchy-feely,&#8221; King continued.
Vasquez pushed back, saying that she was just a &#8220;touchy-feely&#8221; type of person. &#8220;I mean, that’s just who I am. I’m naturally described as a warm person. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with caring for your clients. Right? I was fighting for his life, his name.&#8221;
&#8220;It’s perfectly normal, I think, to be able to extend a hand and give him a hug and make him feel like he was protected. We all were that way with him. Each other and with him. Just supportive and protective,&#8221; she added.

Clinton spoke with &#8220;CBS Mornings&#8221; host <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/gayle-king-just-punched-clive-owen-greg-gutfeld-live-tweets-everything-that-probably-didnt-happen-at-whcd/">Gayle King</a> in her first sit-down interview since the Supreme Court handed down its 6-3 <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/roe-decision-could-put-old-abortion-bans-back-on-the-books-in-these-states/">ruling</a> in Dobbs v. Jackson Women&#8217;s Health Organization — which resulted in a 5-4 decision to overturn landmark abortion rulings in both Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey.
King asked Clinton specifically about some of the cases raised by Thomas in his opinion — and her own warnings that the court&#8217;s move to overturn Roe opened the door for the possible rollback of other civil rights in the future.

&#8220;Justice Thomas just sort of floated that out there about contraceptive rights, and contraception, and about same-sex marriages, but other justices have pushed back to say no, he is really sort of on his own with that. Do you believe that?&#8221; King asked.
&#8220;Well, he may be on his own, but he is signaling as he often did, people, I went to law school with him,&#8221; Clinton continued. &#8220;He’s been a person of grievance for as long as I have known him, resentment, grievance, anger, and he has signaled in the past to lower courts, to state legislatures, find cases, pass laws, get them up. I may not win the first, the second, or the third time, but we’re going to keep at it.&#8221;
&#8220;You’re saying people pay attention to it,&#8221; King pressed.
&#8220;The people he is speaking to, which is the right-wing very conservative judges and justices and state legislatures, and the thing that is, well, there are so many things about it that are deeply distressing, but women are going to die, Gayle. Women will die,&#8221; Clinton insisted.
&#8220;We reached out to Justice Thomas for a comment, but we have not heard back from him,&#8221; King noted.
Later in the interview, King pressed Clinton several times on whether she would consider getting back into the political ring — particularly with an eye toward the 2024 presidential election.
&#8220;I can&#8217;t imagine it. I really can&#8217;t,&#8221; Clinton insisted.
&#8220;That&#8217;s not a no,&#8221; King replied.
&#8220;What I can imagine is staying as active and outspoken as I can because I think our country is really on the precipice, Gayle. I think that we are looking at — not only the erosion of these rights, the throwing the door open to unfettered, unregulated gun access — but we’re also looking at dismantling the federal government, how it protects our air and our water and everything else that goes along with it,&#8221; Clinton pushed back, saying that she truly believed that &#8220;democracy is at stake.&#8221;
