More than one in five Generation Z adults now identify as LGBT, new data shows, including nearly 30% of Gen Z women.
About 22% of young adults who were aged 18 to 26 last year self-identify as LGBT, according to a poll released Wednesday by Gallup.
This is higher than the nearly one in 10 millennials — those aged 27 to 42 — who identify as LGBT, and even higher than the 5% of Generation X, 2% of baby boomers, and 1% of the Silent Generation who identify as such.
“Overall, each younger generation is about twice as likely as the generation that preceded it to identify as LGBTQ+,” reads the report.
Meanwhile, the general population of adults who identify as LGBT hit 7.6% last year, an all-time high, while 85.6% say they are straight or heterosexual.
Back in 2012, the percentage of those who identified as LGBT sat at just 3.5%.
The increase is driven in part by Gen Z women, almost 30% of whom identify as LGBT, mostly bisexual, according to Jeffrey Jones, a senior editor at Gallup.
“That’s where a lot of the growth seems to be happening,” Jones <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/nearly-30-gen-z-women-identify-lgbtq-gallup-survey-finds-rcna143019" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> NBC News.
A large chunk of millennial women, 9% also identify as bisexual.
Bisexual identities were the largest LGBT group, making up more than half, 57% of those who identified as LGBT and 4.4% of adults overall, according to Gallup.
Gay men were next, making up 18.1% of those who identified as LGBT. Lesbians made up 15.1%, and trans-identifying people made up 11.8%, according to the poll.
Pansexual and asexual identities were volunteered by less than 2% of adults who said they were LGBT.
Overall, 8.5% of women and 4.7% of men identified as LGBT, the survey found, making women nearly twice as likely to identify as LGBT.

Critics have also sounded the alarm in recent years about an increasing number of teen girls identifying as transgender and seeking out transgender medical services with permanent effects.
Teen girls are many times more likely to seek out transgender medical services than teen boys, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-transyouth-topsurgery/#:~:text=Adolescents%20assigned%20female%20at%20birth%20initiate%20transgender%20care%202.5%20to,legal%2C%20academic%20and%20other%20professionals." target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).
Gallup surveyed about 12,000 Americans aged 18 and up over the phone.
&#8220;The percentage of U.S. adults who consider themselves something other than heterosexual has more than doubled since Gallup first asked about sexual orientation and transgender identity in 2012,&#8221; Gallup&#8217;s report says.
&#8220;These changes have been led by younger Americans,&#8221; the report says, adding that if the current trends continue, it is likely that those who identify as LGBT will top 10% of all adults in the next 30 years.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/democratic-party" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Democratic</a> support among minority voters is slipping, according to polling and analytics from Gallup.
While Democrats still hold leads over the GOP in support among black and Hispanic voters, the Democratic Party’s edge is at a record low. While the gap has narrowed among those demographics, the gap in education groups has surged.
In 2023, Democrats had the largest lead over Republicans that either party possessed in any demographic in non-Hispanic black adults, according to <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/609776/democrats-lose-ground-black-hispanic-adults.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gallup</a>. Sixty-six percent of black voters identified as Democrats or Democratic-leaning. Just 19% of black voters sided with Republicans.
That 47-point difference is a record low for the poll, however. The gap has never been that narrow since Gallup began its poll in 1999. In 2020, Democrats had a 66-point advantage over Republicans among black voters, with 77% siding with Democrats to the GOP’s 11%.
Gallup mapped a similar trend among Hispanic adults. In 2023, Democrats enjoyed a 12-point advantage over the GOP among voters in the demographic. That is the closest the gap has been since 2011 when Gallup began regularly polling in Spanish as well as English. The parties tended to have roughly equal support in the demographic 1999 to 2009, however, according to Gallup.
While the gap has narrowed among certain minority groups, the gap has widened in certain education groups, with those with more education tending to favor Democrats and those with lower levels of education favoring Republicans.
Voters with no college or some college identify as Republican or Republican-leaning about half the time, whereas about 40% say the same for Democrats. Among those with a post graduate degree, Democrats have a 29-point advantage over Republicans, 60% to 31%.

The insights into the American electorate come as President Joe Biden struggles to top former President Donald Trump, the GOP frontrunner, in the polls.
In a hypothetical Trump v. Biden matchup in the general election, the former president has been outpolling the current president across several polls. The RealClearPolitics polling average <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/general/2024/trump-vs-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shows</a> Trump leading Biden by more than two points, 46.7 to 44.6.
The most recent poll in the average, a survey by NBC News, shows Biden polling at the lowest approval rating over his term as the president faces stiff opposition from voters. Just 37% of voters approve of the job Biden is doing as president versus 60% who disapprove, according to the <a href="https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/24402843/240037-nbc-january-2024-poll_2424-release.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">poll</a>.

Americans&#8217; confidence in the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/military" target="_blank" rel="noopener">military</a> has fallen to the lowest level in decades, according to new polling data from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/gallup" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gallup</a>. 
Confidence in the U.S. military by Americans of all political affiliations <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/509189/confidence-military-lowest-two-decades.aspx#:~:text=The%20military,-Get%20the%20data&amp;text=It%20then%20surged%20after%20the,poorly%20executed%20exit%20from%20Afghanistan." target="_blank" rel="noopener">has fallen</a> to just 60%, tying the lowest number since 1997, Gallup found. The last time confidence was below 60% was in 1988, when just 58% had confidence in the military. The data was collected from June 1-22. 
&#8220;At 60%, confidence in the military was last this low in 1997, and it hasn’t been lower since 1988, when 58% were confident. From the late 1970s to the early 1980s — during the Cold War and amid threats to U.S. power, including the Iran hostage crisis — between 50% and 58% of Americans were confident in the military,&#8221; Gallup reported.
The fall in confidence in the military has been especially pronounced among Republicans, who have historically been the most likely to be supportive of the military. Republican confidence in the military has dropped by 23 points since 2020, when 91% expressed confidence in the military. 
While Gallup noted that Democrats’ confidence rose after President Joe Biden was inaugurated, it has since declined. The group with the lowest amount of confidence was independents, whose confidence level sits at just 55%. 
The drop in confidence came after a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/top-house-republican-blasts-bidens-claims-about-afghanistan-devoid-of-reality" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bungled withdrawal</a> from Afghanistan, where the U.S. had a military presence for over 20 years. Thirteen American service members were killed in a suicide bombing during the final days of the withdrawal as the Taliban quickly took power. 
Some have placed the decline in confidence on a politicized Department of Defense. 
“Americans&#8217; confidence in the U.S. military is the lowest in 2 decades! Our ‘leaders’ have tarnished the military’s history and legacy by putting woke indoctrination before patriotism &amp; foreign conflict before American interests,” <a href="https://twitter.com/amrenewctr/status/1686381037235150849" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> the Center for Renewing America, a conservative policy organization.

The military has also been struggling with recruiting, with the Army missing its recruitment goals in fiscal year 2022 and <a href="https://www.armytimes.com/news/your-army/2023/05/03/short-handed-army-to-miss-recruiting-goal-for-second-year-in-a-row/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announcing</a> earlier this year that it would likely miss its goals again in fiscal year 2023 when it had hoped to recruit 452,000 soldiers. 
Army Secretary Christine Wormuth said that they might have to “do some thinning out” across the Army because the military was losing service members faster than they were gaining them. 
“If we don’t turn our recruiting situation around, I can’t guarantee you that the Army won’t have to make some substantial potential force structure reductions,” Wormuth said.

The number of Americans who show “extreme pride” in the United States is just one percent above the lowest number ever recorded, but Republicans are much more likely than Democrats to show patriotism, according to a recent Gallup <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/507980/extreme-pride-american-remains-near-record-low.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">poll</a>.
The survey found that just 39% of adults are “extremely proud” of being an American, up from 38% last year — a record low. Since 2017, the number of Americans showing high levels of patriotism in their county has been below 50%. Republicans are twice as likely to identify as extremely proud than Democrats. 
“Party identification remains the greatest demographic differentiator in expressions of national pride, and Republicans have been consistently more likely than Democrats and independents to express pride in being American throughout the trend,” Megan Brenan, research consultant at Gallup, said of the results. “That gap has been particularly pronounced since 2018, with more than twice as many Republicans as Democrats saying they are extremely proud.”
The poll, conducted between June 1-22, shows a strong partisan divide in levels of patriotism. Sixty percent of Republicans, up from 58% last year, say they are “extremely proud” to be an American. For Democrats, that number is just 29%, up from 26% last year, while 33% of independents feel the same. 
Though the number of those who show extreme pride seems low, combined with those that are “very proud” to be Americans, the number is 67% — up from 65% last year. 
“In terms of the combined percentages saying they are extremely or very proud, roughly nine in 10 Americans expressed high levels of pride in the earliest years of the trend, through 2004,” Brenan says. “In 2005, that figure began falling into the 80% range, before dropping to 75% in 2017 and staying below 70% since 2020.&#8221;
In 2001, the first year Gallup asked the question, the number of Americans extremely proud of their country was 55%, and 87% combined with those who were very proud. Gallup notes that after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, levels of patriotism “intensified,” with 65-70% of Americans identifying as extremely proud.

According to the poll, 4% of Americans are “not at all proud” to be an American, while 7% are “only a little proud,” 22% are “moderately proud,” and 28% are “very proud.” 
The results also have a distinct age gap, with older people much more likely to show high levels of patriotism. While 42% of Republicans aged 18-34 are extremely proud of their country, that number is 64% for the 35-54 age group and 68% for the 55+ age group. Just 38% of Democrats aged 55-plus are extremely proud to be American, the poll found. For Democrats 18-34, that number is a mere 12%. 
“Although the percentage of U.S. adults who say they are extremely proud to be American remains near the record low, together with the share who are very proud, about two-thirds express national pride,” Brenan concluded.

Americans’ support for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lgbtq" target="_blank" rel="noopener">same-sex relations</a> has dropped seven points since last year, a new poll from Gallup found.
The annual Values and Beliefs poll, which was conducted by Gallup between May 1 and 24, measures Americans’ moral beliefs on a number of different topics, including divorce, the death penalty, abortion, and same-sex relationships.
“Last year, a record-high 71% of U.S. adults said gay or lesbian relations are morally acceptable. The figure has fallen back this year to 64%, returning to a level last seen in 2019,” Gallup noted in an <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/507230/fewer-say-sex-relations-morally-acceptable.aspx?utm_source=alert&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=morelink&amp;utm_campaign=syndication" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> explaining the poll results.
Gallup attributes the sharp decline primarily to Republicans. While 56% of Republicans said that same-sex relations were acceptable last year, the figure has plummeted to 41%. The vast majority of Democrats, 79%, say that same-sex relations are morally acceptable, while 73% of Independents agree.
“The current figure is the lowest Gallup has measured for Republicans since 2014,” when it was 39%, Gallup states.
Meanwhile, acceptance of same-sex relationships remains significantly higher than it was in the recent past, however. In 2002, only 38% of Americans found same-sex relationships acceptable, while only 54% believed they were acceptable in 2012.
The poll also found that there was a three-point drop in the percentage of people who believe divorce to be morally acceptable, with 81% of respondents saying that it is acceptable in 2022, as opposed to 78% in 2023. The number of Americans who say that abortion is morally acceptable did not change between 2022 and 2023, remaining at 52%.
Approval for pornography usage experienced a slight decrease from 41% to 39%, while approval for sex between unmarried men and women dipped 4% from 76% to 72%.

The poll results come after a different Gallup <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/507023/say-birth-gender-dictate-sports-participation.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">poll</a> found that Americans overwhelmingly believe that people should play in the sports league that corresponds with their sex. A full 69% of respondents say that athletes should only be able to play on “teams that match their birth gender.” The figure is up seven points from 2021.

The number of Americans who identify as socially conservative has reached the highest level since 2012, according to a Gallup poll <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/506765/social-conservatism-highest-decade.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> last week.
The numbers are part of Gallup’s Values and Beliefs survey, which was conducted May 1-24 with a random sample of 1,011 respondents. It found that 38% of Americans identify as “very conservative” or “conservative” — up from 33% in 2022, 30% in 2021, and tied with 2012 numbers. This comes as the number of Americans who identify as “very liberal” or “liberal” dropped to 29% from 34% in 2022.
“For most of the past eight years, Americans were about as likely to say they were liberal as conservative on social issues,” Gallup senior editor Jeffrey Jones said. “This year, there is a more obvious conservative advantage. The shift is mostly due to increasing social conservatism among Republicans, at a time when social issues such as transgender rights, abortion and other hot-button concerns are prominent in the national public debate.”
Social conservatism for Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 had a 6% increase from 2021, while those aged 30-49 saw a 13% increase and those aged 50-64 saw an 11% increase. Americans over the age of 65 were the only age group that saw a decrease, dropping to 42% from 43% in 2021.
Similarly, the number of Americans who identify as economically conservative has reached 44%, up from 40% in 2022 and more than double the 21% of Americans who identify as “very liberal” or “liberal” economically, according to the poll. Seventy-nine percent of Republicans identified as “very conservative” or “conservative” when it comes to the economy, while 36% of independents and 16% of Democrats felt the same.
The Values and Beliefs survey also <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/507023/say-birth-gender-dictate-sports-participation.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">found</a> that the majority of Americans don’t believe transgender-identifying athletes should be able to compete against those of the opposite sex. According to the survey, 69% of Americans believe athletes should only be allowed to play on teams that conform to their actual gender, up from 62% in 2021.
Additionally, most Americans, 55%,  believe it’s “morally wrong” to change genders, compared to 43% who think it’s “morally acceptable.” The breakdown by political party on the issue shows that 84% of Republicans, 50% of Independents, and 29% of Democrats believe it’s morally wrong.
These numbers come as conservatives have been touting major wins in recent weeks regarding boycotts of various brands that have promoted transgender ideology, including Bud Light and Target. In late May, Target’s stock market value had <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/targets-stock-market-value-takes-6-billion-hit-since-backlash-over-pride-collection" target="_blank" rel="noopener">taken</a> a $6 billion hit since it had received backlash for its “Pride” collection, while sales of Bud Light <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bud-light-sales-continue-to-plummet-may-soon-lose-status-as-number-one-beer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">continued</a> to fall since it partnered with Dylan Mulvaney, a man who identifies as a woman.

More Americans now than in 2021 say <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/gender" target="_blank" rel="noopener">trans-identifying</a> athletes should have to compete on the team that matches their biological sex, a new Gallup poll shows.
About 69% of Americans say trans-identifying athletes should only be allowed to compete on sports teams that match their biological sex, the Gallup <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/507023/say-birth-gender-dictate-sports-participation.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">poll</a>, released Monday, found.
In 2021, only 62% of Americans felt that trans-identifying athletes should compete on the team of their biological sex.
Only just over a quarter of Americans, 26%, now support athletes playing on the team of their professed gender identity. Two years ago, that number was over a third of Americans, 34%.
In practice, biological males competing on women&#8217;s sports teams has resulted in males winning <a href="https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/33529775/amid-protests-pennsylvania-swimmer-lia-thomas-becomes-first-known-transgender-athlete-win-division-national-championship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">championship</a> titles over their female competitors.
In 2019, three Connecticut high school girls who ran track <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/connecticut-transgender-athletes-face-federal-discrimination-complaint-from-females-over-title-ix-violations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filed</a> a federal discrimination lawsuit claiming the state&#8217;s policy on trans-identifying athletes has cost them first place spots and potentially college scholarships. The three track athletes have faced legal setbacks, but they are <a href="https://www.ctinsider.com/connecticut/article/court-hearing-ct-athletes-appeal-agaist-ciac-18137970.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">still fighting</a> in federal court.
Trans-identifying college swimmer Lia Thomas competed on the men’s team at the University of Pennsylvania before declaring himself transgender in 2019 and starting testosterone blockers and estrogen. In 2021, Thomas competed on the women’s team, sparking a national debate. In March 2022, Thomas won the NCAA Division I national championship after winning the women’s 500-yard freestyle event.
Interestingly, the dip in Americans who say trans-identifying athletes should get to compete on the team matching their gender identity comes at the same time more people say they know a trans-identifying person personally, according to the Gallup poll.

About 39% of Americans say they know someone personally who says they are transgender, up from 31% in 2021.
A huge majority of Republicans, 93%, are opposed to letting a trans-identifying athlete choose which team to play on, male or female. Democrats are split on the issue, with 48% supportive, and 47% against trans-identifying athletes playing on the team of their gender identity. In 2021, Democrats had a more defined majority, 55%, who were supportive. A bigger majority of independents are opposed this year, 67%.
The poll also found that a larger share of Americans, 55%, say it is morally wrong to change one&#8217;s gender — up from 51% in 2021.
Over the last two years, conservatives have sounded the alarm on both biological males in women&#8217;s sports and medical procedures being performed on trans-identifying children.
Minors who say they identify as a new gender can obtain puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries as part of their gender transition. An increasingly large majority of Americans say that <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/inflation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">inflation</a> continues to strain their household budgets, a revelation that comes even as President Joe Biden and senior <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/biden-administration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">White House</a> officials insist that the nation is “making progress” as inflation has decreased in recent months.
Some 61% of respondents to an April 2023 <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/505928/say-inflation-causing-financial-hardship.aspx?utm_source=alert&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=morelink&amp;utm_campaign=syndication" target="_blank" rel="noopener">survey</a> released by Gallup this week concurred that “recent price increases” have caused “financial hardship” for themselves and their households. The share of respondents answering in the affirmative continued to rise from 56% in August 2022, 49% in January 2022, and 45% in November 2021.
Roughly 15% of respondents in April 2023 additionally said that the hardship from elevated inflation has been “severe” and affects their ability to maintain a consistent standard of living. “As has been the case for the past two years, lower-income Americans report greater hardship from inflation than those in higher income brackets,” Gallup noted.
Another survey from Gallup showed that the “high cost of living” is the “most important financial problem” facing the plurality of American families: 35% referenced inflation, 11% referenced costs for owning or renting a home, 9% referenced excess debt, and 7% referenced low wages.
The surveys were conducted as headline inflation <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/headline-inflation-ticks-downward-as-some-product-categories-continue-to-surge" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fell</a> below 5% last month, marking a continued decline from the inflation rates exceeding 9% last summer. Price increases for food, shelter, and other central components of household budgets, on the other hand, still remain well above the 5% overall level.
The latest inflation data comes as officials at the Federal Reserve increased the target federal funds rate in an effort to slow price level increases, a policy regime that raises the cost of borrowing funds for consumers and businesses, thereby lowering inflation but dampening overall economic activity. Federal Reserve policymakers <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/federal-reserve-unveils-quarter-point-target-interest-rate-hike-as-banking-system-reels" target="_blank" rel="noopener">introduced</a> a quarter-point rate hike earlier this month, continuing a slowdown from previous rate hikes and reflecting caution as the financial sector reels from the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/confidence-in-american-banks-is-low-amid-continued-financial-sector-tumult" target="_blank" rel="noopener">collapse</a> of three medium-sized banks.
President Joe Biden has meanwhile faced criticism for repeated assertions that his policies, such as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act, are responsible for the somewhat less severe headline inflation levels. Rates charted last month are still between three and four times higher than those seen before he assumed office in January 2021, as well as more than double the 2% benchmark that the Federal Reserve has maintained for decades.
“We are making progress in the fight against inflation,” he commented in one <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2023/03/31/statement-from-president-joe-biden-on-february-pce-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> released last month. “The fight against inflation isn’t over, and every day my administration is working to give families more breathing room.”

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre issued similar <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2023/05/10/statement-from-press-secretary-karine-jean-pierre-on-april-cpi-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">remarks</a> last week and contended that House Republicans, who have refused to endorse an increase in the debt ceiling until meaningful federal budget <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-and-mccarthy-make-progress-after-latest-debt-ceiling-talks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reforms</a> are enacted, could induce the “single biggest threat to our economy” if the nation <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/major-bank-sets-up-war-room-as-nation-approaches-debt-default" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defaults</a> on obligations without an amendment to the debt limit.
Jean-Pierre has also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/white-house-press-secretary-claims-americans-are-saving-on-gas-under-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> that Americans are saving money on gasoline under the administration’s energy policies, which broadly center on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-epa-unveils-new-crackdown-on-power-plants" target="_blank" rel="noopener">discouraging</a> fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas while <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-energy-department-starts-crackdown-on-dishwashers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">mandating</a> a transition toward renewable power sources. Prices at the pump, as with overall inflation, have declined from last summer but remain considerably higher from the start of the commander-in-chief’s inauguration.

George Stephanopoulos used to be President Bill Clinton&#8217;s press secretary, and he has toed the liberal line for Democrats ever since as an ABC News anchor.
So for Stephanopoulos to call out President Joe Biden over his ever-dwindling poll numbers means something.
&#8220;This poll is just brutal for President Biden,&#8221; Stephanopoulos said Sunday on &#8220;This Week.&#8221;
The <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/05/07/president-biden-post-abc-poll/">poll</a> by ABC News and The Washington Post released Sunday found that 63% of Americans do not think Biden, 80, has the &#8220;mental sharpness&#8221; to be president. That&#8217;s up nine points since the same question was asked a year ago.
Just 32% believe Biden is mentally capable, while 5% have no opinion.
The numbers were similar on Biden&#8217;s physical health. Some 62% of Americans don&#8217;t think Biden is in &#8220;good enough physical health&#8221; to serve as president, while just 33% believe he is.
Former President Donald Trump fared much better in the poll, taken from April 28 to May 3. 54% of those surveyed said Trump has the mental sharpness compared to Biden&#8217;s 32%. And 64% said he&#8217;s physically fit enough to be president, compared to Biden&#8217;s 33%.
Biden&#8217;s approval rating is also in the dumper, hitting a new low of 36%, down six points since the same poll was conducted in February. More than half (56%) disapprove of the job Biden’s doing.
A majority (54%) of those surveyed said Trump did a better job with the economy than Biden. Just 36% think Biden is doing a better job.

Plus, the poll showed Trump would beat Biden by 7 points in a head-to-head matchup.
&#8220;You&#8217;re seeing real weaknesses in the coalition that powered Joe Biden to the presidency in 2020,&#8221; ABC&#8217;s political director Rick Klein told Stephanopoulos, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/george-stephanopoulos-2024-poll-brutal-president-biden">reported</a>. &#8220;This race is shaping up [to be] a lot more about the incumbent president Joe Biden than it is about any of his challengers.&#8221;
Donna Brazile, a former chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, also appeared on &#8220;This Week&#8221; and said the poll should alarm Democrats.
&#8220;It kept me up, and I thought they should wake up and look at those numbers,&#8221; Brazile said. &#8220;It’s sobering in the sense that the coalition that elected Joe Biden, with the historic numbers that we saw in 2020, that coalition right now is fragmented. That should concern them,&#8221; she said.
The latest survey was just another in a string of bad polls. Shortly after Biden announced his re-election campaign two weeks ago — not with a live event featuring thousands of cheering supporters but with a video posted on his website — his job approval rating among the U.S. public slipped to 37%, Gallup <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/505202/biden-begins-reelection-bid-low-point-presidency.aspx">reported</a>.
That&#8217;s just slightly more than 1 in 3 people — not a winning number. In the 2020 election, Biden won 51.3% of the vote, so that&#8217;s a 14.3% drop in support.
For the record, 37% is the lowest Gallup has measured for him to date. The president&#8217;s job approval has been hovering in the low 40s for most of the last 18 months, after the initial honeymoon period. But he did drop to 38% last July, then his lowest.
The latest Gallup poll, taken April 3-25, shows a 3-point dip from March and a 5-point drop from February. His ninth quarter average in polling is 39.7%.
&#8220;Only Ronald Reagan in early 1983 had a lower ninth-quarter average among elected post-World War II presidents,&#8221; the pollsters wrote. &#8220;Reagan’s low ratings came during a period when the unemployment rate exceeded 10% after the 1981-1982 economic recession.&#8221;

There are still 553 days until Election Day 2024, but right now, things look pretty bleak for President Joe Biden.

For the record, Jimmy Carter and Donald Trump had approval ratings slightly above Biden and Reagan at just over 40%. But all of them were far behind George H.W. Bush, Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy and George W. Bush, who averaged above 60% approval during their ninth quarter in office.
What&#8217;s worse, while the latest poll finds 83% of Democrats support Biden, but just 31% of independents back him. That ties the lowest reading to date among independents and shows a 9-point drop since February&#8217;s poll.
It&#8217;s the economy, stupid. Just 16% say the economy is &#8220;excellent&#8221; or &#8220;good,&#8221; 37% say it is “only fair,” and 47% say it is &#8220;poor&#8221; (up from 43% in March).
&#8220;The drop in Biden’s job approval corresponds with Americans’ worsening evaluations of the U.S. economy,&#8221; the pollsters wrote. &#8220;Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index for April is -44, down from -38 in March. It was last at this level in October.&#8221;
Meanwhile, another <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/505385/gov-no-guns-crime-top-problem.aspx">poll</a> shows Americans think poorly of the federal government as a whole.
&#8220;More Americans continue to name government leadership than any other issue as the most important problem facing the country, with various aspects of U.S. leadership mentioned by 18% of adults in April,&#8221; the Gallup poll found. Fourteen percent cite the economy as the biggest problem, while the high cost of living and inflation came in third at 9%.
Even Democrats are getting bummed about the direction of the nation. Their overall satisfaction dropped 5 points since March to 29%. For independents, it&#8217;s even worse at just 16%.

Even as health officials warn of a coming winter spike in COVID cases and the federal government urges millions of Americans to get a third booster, worry over the virus has dropped to just 28%, according to a new poll.
&#8220;Twenty-eight percent of Americans say they are &#8216;very&#8217; or &#8216;somewhat worried&#8217; they will get COVID — the lowest percentage Gallup has recorded since the summer of 2021,&#8221; Gallup <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/404963/worry-catching-covid-lowest-june-2021.aspx#:~:text=The%20latest%20findings,23%25%20in%20July." target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a>.
The latest findings also show a new high of Americans say they believe the pandemic is &#8220;over.&#8221; And the survey found 78% of Americans, the highest to date, think it&#8217;s best for Americans showing no symptoms to &#8220;lead their normal lives as much as possible and avoid interruptions to work and business.&#8221;
&#8220;The same poll finds the smallest percentages of Americans yet reporting they are steering clear of specific situations because of the coronavirus, including avoiding large crowds (24%), avoiding travel by plane or public transportation (19%), avoiding going to public places (16%) and avoiding small gatherings (13%),&#8221; Gallup reported. &#8220;Use of face masks remains fairly common, but the 40% saying they have worn one in the past week when outside their home is also a new low during the pandemic.&#8221;
In addition, Americans are no longer stringent about social distancing.
&#8220;About six in 10 Americans (59%) say they have made no attempt to isolate themselves from people outside their household in the past 24 hours — the most eschewing social distancing since the beginning of the pandemic,&#8221; the poll found. &#8220;Sixteen percent, similar to the level in April, now say they have completely or mostly isolated themselves from people outside their household, while 25% — the lowest reading since April 2020 — say they have isolated themselves partially or a little.&#8221;
The latest Gallup poll follows another one from last month that found more Democrats than Republicans think there is still a pandemic.
&#8220;Americans in all party groups have become more likely to say the pandemic is over since July, including increases of 12 points among Republicans, 14 points among Democrats and 10 points among independents,&#8221; Gallup <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/404696/pandemic-outlook-recovers-leaders-messaging-falters.aspx?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=o_social&amp;utm_term=gallupnews&amp;utm_content=60bb079a-4165-45ca-8ff2-cae3176f7d95">found.</a> &#8220;Independents also broadly agree that the situation is improving (62%). All three groups have roughly returned to the levels last seen in February and April after cases were down from the January surge in infections.&#8221;
&#8220;However, Republicans are the only party with a majority saying the pandemic is over. Republicans are more than three times as likely as Democrats to say this, at 73% vs. 21%, while 48% of independents agree. Despite the fact that Biden has said he believes the pandemic is over, a majority of his party&#8217;s faithful, 79%, do not concur.&#8221;
That&#8217;s right — in July, just 7% of Democrats thought the pandemic was &#8220;over.&#8221; And that number is still just 21% in November, even though President Joe Biden made a major declaration a couple of months ago.
“The pandemic is over,” Biden said in a “60 Minutes” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-shocks-white-house-by-declaring-pandemic-is-over-while-hundreds-of-americans-die-every-day" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> that aired September 18. “We still have a problem with COVID. We’re still doing a lot of work on it. But the pandemic is over.”
That confident assertion didn&#8217;t last long. The scaremongers in the White House, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, the resident Debbie Downer, immediately walked back the statement.
&#8220;We are not where we need to be if we are going to quote, &#8216;live with the virus,'&#8221; Fauci, Biden’s chief medical adviser, said the following day. &#8220;We still must be aware of how unusual this virus is and continues to be in its ability to evolve into new variants which defy the standard public health mechanisms of addressing an outbreak.&#8221;

The U.S. Senate this week passed a resolution to terminate the national emergency declared in 2020 in response to the COVID pandemic, but 37 Democrats <a href="https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_votes/vote1172/vote_117_2_00355.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">voted</a> against it.
Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) had proposed the bill for a second time in September, shortly after President Joe Biden told CBS News in an interview that the pandemic was &#8220;over.&#8221; The White House quickly walked back Biden&#8217;s comments and Dr. Anthony Fauci, in charge of the virus response, said no, it&#8217;s not over.
But for most Americans, it&#8217;s over. We all realize COVID will be around for years &#8212; maybe forever &#8212; and we&#8217;re just going to have to live with it.
Most of the Senate believes that, too.
Marshall’s resolution to end the national emergency passed the Senate 61-37 on Tuesday, with 10 Democrats joining all Republicans. Two Democrats were absent and didn&#8217;t vote.
The senator <a href="https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article268818037.html#storylink=cpy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a speech on the Senate floor that the national emergency has been in effect too long and has taken a dramatic toll on Americans.
“Congress must take the responsible action of reining in this massive expansion of government and restore Americans fundamental rights by terminating the COVID-19 national emergency declaration,” Marshall said. “As to the elements to the pandemic response that are working and needed, let’s codify them into law.”
The measure needs to pass both chambers to reach the president’s desk, but President Joe Biden has vowed to veto it.
&#8220;Preserving our ability to respond is more important than ever as we head into the winter, when respiratory illnesses such as COVID-19 typically spread more easily,” the White House said in a statement. “Strengthened by the ongoing declaration of national emergency, the federal response to COVID-19 continues to save lives, improve health outcomes, and support the American economy.”
Some Democrats, though, backed the resolution.
“When COVID-19 hit, Congress acted with urgency under a number of emergency declarations to provide the flexibilities and funding needed to save lives, roll out a vaccine, and keep our economy afloat,&#8221; Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA) <a href="https://www.warner.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/pressreleases?ID=4E81B545-EB91-4F39-9D45-C75557A05486" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;We’ve come a long way since then, and while it might be easier to kick the can down the road, I think it’s time to have a bipartisan conversation about how we unwind from these emergency actions and move forward with the valuable lessons we’ve learned.&#8221;
&#8220;Today’s resolution won’t affect critical flexibilities, such as the ones facilitating access to telehealth. Rather, this vote should serve as the beginning of a productive and bipartisan effort to examine which mitigation efforts and flexibilities are worth embedding permanently into our lives, and which are no longer relevant or necessary,&#8221; Warner said.
Most Americans are just done with it and acknowledge that the pandemic is waning, according to a recent poll.
&#8220;There is bipartisan, majority-level agreement that the coronavirus situation is getting better, with 76% of Republicans and 61% of Democrats saying so,&#8221; a Gallup <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/404696/pandemic-outlook-recovers-leaders-messaging-falters.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">survey</a> found. &#8220;Independents also broadly agree that the situation is improving (62%). All three groups have roughly returned to the levels last seen in February and April after cases were down from the January surge in infections.&#8221;
But that&#8217;s the overall. When the poll is broken down by party, it got scary.
&#8220;Americans in all party groups have become more likely to say the pandemic is over since July, including increases of 12 points among Republicans, 14 points among Democrats and 10 points among independents,&#8221; Gallup found.
&#8220;However, Republicans are the only party with a majority saying the pandemic is over. Republicans are more than three times as likely as Democrats to say this, at 73% vs. 21%, while 48% of independents agree,&#8221; the Gallup survey found. &#8220;Despite the fact that Biden has said he believes the pandemic is over, a majority of his party&#8217;s faithful, 79%, do not concur.&#8221;
So, let&#8217;s settle this. Democrats, you can keep the COVID pandemic. But for the rest of us, we&#8217;re done. We&#8217;re going back to living our lives.
