Little people actors said they will be protesting Disney studios after they opted to use CGI for the seven dwarfs instead of hiring them for the upcoming live-action remake of “Snow White&#8221; that hits theaters on March 21.
Speaking to the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-14502827/rally-Disney-protest-Snow-White-Dwarfs-CGI.html">Daily Mail</a>, actress Ali Chapman — who stands 3ft 8in tall — said &#8220;The whole point of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is right up there in the title.”
“The seven dwarfs were the stars of the original 1937 film which is a classic loved by millions of people,” she added. “Disney has made a live-action film and instead of giving seven talented little people the chance to shine they&#8217;ve scrapped us completely and used CGI instead.”
&#8220;It&#8217;s a total travesty and there are a lot of angry little people actors and actresses out there,” Chapman continued. “People are flying in from all over the world to tell Disney this isn&#8217;t acceptable.”
Chapman’s husband Matt McCarthy, who stands 4ft 1in tall, also slammed the studio and said that “We&#8217;ve been totally shut out but we&#8217;re not going down quietly.”

“There were seven great parts right there but Disney decided to go with freaking cartoons,” Chapman continued, noting the CGI. “Shame on them!&#8221;
Jordanna James — who is 3ft 11in tall — said “&#8217;Hollywood is trying to erase us. Everyone goes on about wokeism and inclusion and yet we are constantly overlooked and kept in the shadows. It&#8217;s hard enough to go out in the real world and be seen. We exist. Let us have the same opportunities as other people.”
Famed &#8220;Elf&#8221; and &#8220;Game of Thrones&#8221; star Peter Dinklage previously made headlines when he slammed the “Snow White” remake when news surfaced that it was in the works.
“It makes no sense to me,” Dinklage <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/entertainment/2022/01/25/disney-consulting-with-members-of-the-dwarfism-community-following-peter-dinklages-snow-white-criticism/">said.</a> “You’re progressive in one way, but then you’re still making that f***ing backward story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together.”
Not long after his comments, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disney-call-me-dwarf-actor-fumes-over-peter-dinklages-snow-white-criticism">Disney announced</a> it wasn’t going the traditional route, “to avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film … “
Images then surfaced on social media of full grown adults playing the characters, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/matt-walsh-goes-viral-after-disney-admits-woke-snow-white-remake-images-are-real">reported</a>. A backlash then ensued and Disney ended up using CGI to create the dwarf characters.

The ceremony for Gal Gadot receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was marred by controversy as anti-Israel protestors showed up and caused a scene.
The incident caused a delay in the ceremony and necessitated a police response. Dozens of protestors crowded the area, holding signs that said “Heros [sic] Fight Like Palestinians”, “Viva Viva Palestina,” and “No Other Land Won Oscar,” per <a href="https://variety.com/2025/film/news/gal-gadot-palestine-israel-protest-walk-of-fame-1236340490/">Variety</a>.
A <a href="https://x.com/katcystephan/status/1902070119460958467">video</a> taken by Variety reporter Katcy Stephan showed protesters chanting, “Shame on Gal Gadot.”  There was also a clip showing protestors being handcuffed by law enforcement, plus footage of the protestors shouting, “Up up with liberation, down down with occupation,” and “Not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel’s crime.”
Gadot will star as the Evil Queen in the upcoming Disney live-action remake of &#8220;Snow White.&#8221; The 39-year-old actress, who is a native Israeli and served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), says she usually keeps quiet about political issues, but felt compelled to speak out following the October 7 massacre which led to the slaughter of 1,220 Israelis at the hands of Hamas.
“I could not be silent,” Gadot said, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-could-not-be-silent-gal-gadot-on-speaking-out-after-october-7">reported</a>.
“There is a challenge for people to speak on social media because there is so much hate going on and so many bots and so many angry people that are looking for a cause,” the actress told Variety.
“Who cares about the celebrity talking about politics?” she asked rhetorically. “I’m an artist. I want to entertain people. I want to bring hope and be a beacon of light whenever I say anything about the world.”
“But on October 7, when people were abducted from their homes, from their beds, men, women, children, elderly, Holocaust survivors, were going through the horrors of what happened that day, I could not be silent,” Gadot continued. “I was shocked by the amount of hate, by the amount of how much people think they know when they actually have no idea, and also by how the media is not fair many times. So I had to speak up.”
Per Variety, Gadot did not mention the event during the Walk of Fame ceremony on Tuesday. She gave a speech thanking “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins and “The Fast and the Furious” star Vin Diesel, plus called herself “just a girl from a town in Israel.”

Native Israeli actress Gal Gadot, famous for playing Wonder Woman among other roles, explained why she left behind her usual reticence in speaking about politics after the October 7, 2023, massacre in which the terrorist group Hamas and Gaza residents slaughtered over 1,220 Israelis: “I could not be silent.”

“I am all about humanity and I felt like I had to advocate for the hostages. &#8230; when your compass is clear, your conscience is clean. I know what I’m advocating for, and I know what I wish for the world. I am praying for better days for all. I want everybody to have good life and prosperity, and the ability to raise their children in a safe environment.”
On Tuesday, as Gadot was honored at a Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, the festivities were <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/film/2025/mar/18/gal-gadot-protest-walk-of-fame" target="_blank" rel="noopener">delayed</a> for 15 minutes when pro-Palestinian activists made enough trouble that police were called in.
On March 4, speaking at the Anti-Defamation League’s annual summit, Gadot <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRQO48kvonQ" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated</a>, “Never did I imagine that on the streets of the United States, and different cities around the world, we would see people not condemning Hamas, but celebrating, justifying and cheering on a massacre of Jews. &#8230; Here’s the thing: However much you tried to avoid it before, even if speaking up wasn’t really your thing, none of us can ignore the explosion of Jew-hatred around the world anymore. &#8230; My name is Gal, and I’m Jewish, and we have had enough of Jew-hatred. On October 7, Jewish women were sexually terrorized, raped, murdered, and kidnapped by Hamas. We were all listening, hoping to hear support from our sisters around the world and too often heard silence. We can’t wait any longer; we can’t hold our breaths and pray or beg from support from people, groups, communities, that don’t want to be there for us. We need to be there for ourselves.”
The day of the October 7 massacre, Gadot wrote on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CyGtKE-tbSI/?img_index=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Instagram</a>:

“Snow White” actress Gal Gadot recently shared details about a life-threatening blood clot she had in her brain while pregnant with her fourth child.
The 39-year-old discussed the incident during an episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show” that aired on Tuesday. 
“I was eight months pregnant and it was my fourth baby. This time around I had massive headaches that completely put me down,” Gadot told Barrymore, per <a href="https://people.com/gal-gadot-scared-to-death-when-doctors-discovered-blood-clot-in-her-brain-11698943">People</a>. “I was in bed and I couldn’t hear or see anything. I had a hot bottle on my head and was just like this [lays back] all day, 24 hours.”
“And it just got worse and worse and worse and I saw different doctors and neurologists and they said, ‘It’s probably a nasty migraine,’” she said.
The actress said her mom convinced her to get an MRI to check out the situation.
Gadot added, “None of the doctors sent me to get an MRI, even if we asked for it before. Always advocate for your health. Always. Listen to yourself, advocate for your heart. If anything, you just over-checked yourself, right? That’s okay. And in this case, went to get an MRI and we were rushed to the hospital. I had a major brain clot.”
“If I had gone through a spontaneous delivery, I would not have been here,” she added. “It was all of this [touches head], 15 centimeters and 5 centimeters, three different ones. And it was the first time that I felt what it meant to be scared to death. And again, had I known better, they could have just put me on blood thinners and done.” 
The “Wonder Woman” star said she ended up undergoing emergency surgery and giving birth to her daughter within two hours of her diagnosis. She told Barrymore that while blood clots are rare, she’s hoping to spread awareness to women about the possibility.
“Three out of 100,000 pregnant women will have a brain clot. But if you feel any symptoms just check yourself,” the actress said. “MRI is very easy and there’s no radiation or anything.”
Gadot has been at the center of the “Snow White” controversy as Disney scaled back the movie’s premiere amid bad press. Most of this has to do with the film’s star, Rachel Zegler, who made disparaging remarks about the source material and Trump supporters. Zegler is also pro-Palestinian, while Gadot is Israeli and served in the Israel Defense Forces. She also publicly advocated for the release of the October 7 hostages.

Disney is holding a “scaled back” version of a movie premiere for the live-action version of “Snow White,” which is slated for release on March 21.
The movie will still have a red carpet debut and the major stars, including Rachel Zegler (Snow White) and Gal Gadot (Evil Queen), are expected to be there. But instead of having full press on hand to conduct interviews, Disney has opted to have photographers and a house crew only, per a report from <a href="https://variety.com/2025/film/columns/disney-snow-white-premiere-zegler-gadot-controversies-1236333285/">Variety</a>
Disney Studios did not release a statement or offer any official updates on the decision. But insiders believe it has something to do with the controversies that have surrounded the film, including both the production itself and some of the controversial statements made by Zegler.
Zegler, a vocal left-wing activist, made headlines in 2023 when she made complaints about the 1937 animated version of the film.
She <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disneys-snow-white-actress-attacks-trump-voters-tells-people-to-leave-x">described</a> the prince as a “stalker” and made it clear the live-action story she was part of would have nothing in common with the “weird” original 1937 love story.
In a later interview with Variety at D23, Zegler said, “She’s not going to be saved by the prince. She’s not going to be dreaming about true love. She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be.”
The actress’ criticism wasn’t reserved just for the film she was in. Zegler also came after Trump voters in the aftermath of the 2024 presidential election, saying, “may Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace.” She apologized two days later.
As for the movie, the dwarves reportedly went through multiple iterations, including a cast of real people, before settling on the CGI that they are in the current project. 
Actor Peter Dinklage weighed in on the situation, saying on an episode of Marc Maron’s podcast, “Literally no offense to anything, but I was sort of taken aback. They were very proud to cast a Latino actress as Snow White, but you’re still telling the story of ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.’ Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there.”
Disney released a statement after that announcing they were changing track. “To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community.”
The movie’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disney-releases-special-look-into-snow-white-after-trailer-suffers-flood-of-dislikes-on-youtube">official trailer</a> received a massive number of downvotes after it debuted several months ago. There have been a couple instances of Disney promoting “Snow White,” including Gadot and Zegler presenting at the 97th Academy Awards, but it’s been relatively low profile compared to other similar releases from the studio.

Star actress Gal Gadot shared a gut-wrenching story on social media Sunday afternoon about a medical emergency she experienced while in her eighth month of pregnancy earlier this year.
Gadot said that she struggled with deciding whether to tell the story but did because she wanted to &#8220;raise awareness and support others who may face something similar.&#8221;
&#8220;In February, during my eighth month of pregnancy, I was diagnosed with a massive blood clot in my brain,&#8221; Gadot wrote in a post. &#8220;For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth. In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live.&#8221;
&#8220;We rushed to the hospital, and within hours, I underwent emergency surgery,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;My daughter, Ori, was born during that moment of uncertainty and fear. Her name, meaning &#8216;my light,&#8217; wasn&#8217;t chosen by chance. Before the surgery, I told Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel.&#8221;
Gadot thanked the doctors and medical professionals who helped save her life at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
&#8220;Today, I am fully healed and filled with gratitude for the life I&#8217;ve been given back,&#8221; she said.
Gadot said she learned that people should listen to their bodies, as &#8220;even subtle changes often carry deeper meaning, and being attuned to your body can be life saving.&#8221;
&#8220;Awareness matters,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I had no idea that 3 in 100,000 pregnant women in the 30s+ age group are diagnosed with CVT (develop a blood clot in the brain). It&#8217;s so important to identify early because it&#8217;s treatable. While rare, it&#8217;s a possibility, and knowing it exists is the first step to addressing it. Sharing this is not meant to frighten anyone but to empower. If even one person feels compelled to take action for their health because of this story, it will have been worth sharing.&#8221;
&#8220;As we celebrate Hanukkah, a holiday of light and miracles, I reflect on the personal miracle I was granted,&#8221; she concluded. &#8220;My daughter, Ori, is a constant reminder of resilience, hope, and the strength we carry within. My wish is that we all find our light, experience our own miracles, and continue to advocate for our health and for one another.&#8221;

It has since gone viral with more than 3.5 million views.

Despite the post being about new life and love, some social media trolls decided to make it all about their hatred for Israelis and Israel&#8217;s response to the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack that left at least 1,200 people dead.
&#8220;Why should we celebrate? She is an active supporter of this terrorist state who killed how many children and newborn babies,&#8221; one user posted.
Another wrote, &#8220;I&#8217;m sure the pregnant Palestinian women in Gaza are having a much harder pregnancy than you did.&#8221;
While a third claimed, &#8220;Israel killing all of the children of Palestine even babies, even newborns.&#8221;
Despite the handful of negative comments, most respondents were excited about Gadot and slammed the disgusting attacks. 
They wrote messages like, &#8220;She has not sinned nor her ancestors…We need to get rid of terrorists and we will.&#8221;

Another user added, &#8220;I honestly cannot believe some of the nasty comments in this post! There is enough nastiness and hatred in this world as it is, why can&#8217;t people be nice and be happy for others.&#8221;

Star actress Gal Gadot called on organizations around the world to pressure Hamas terrorists into immediately releasing all of the women that they took hostage during their October 7 terrorist attack on Israel.
The 38-year-old actress, who was born in Israel, hosted a high-profile screening in Hollywood last month of a film documenting the atrocities that Hamas committed during their terrorist attack. The film was compiled from thousands of video clips that Hamas terrorists gleefully recorded of themselves murdering, raping, torturing, and kidnapping innocent civilians.
&#8220;The world has failed the women of October 7th,&#8221; Gadot said in a post on Sunday that she shared with her 109 million Instagram followers. &#8220;We claim we stand against rape, violence against women. We will not let women be victimized and then silenced. We say we believe women, stand with women, speak out for women.&#8221;
Gadot referenced Hamas recording its attacks, saying that it gave the world the opportunity to witness &#8220;its violent plans in real-time.&#8221;
&#8220;Within hours of the October 7th attack, the first blood-chilling video emerged of Shani Louk being paraded naked and defiled by her proud assailants,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Yet two months later women are still hostage to these rapists and the world has failed to call this situation what it is: an urgent emergency that demands a decisive response.&#8221;

&#8220;This is our moment as women and allies of women to act,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;I am beseeching all those who have done so much for women&#8217;s rights globally — from the U.N., to the human rights community to please join in the demand that Hamas release every single woman hostage immediately — not after the next round of international mediation, not after another day. These women cannot survive another moment of this horror.&#8221;
There have been 110 hostages released by Hamas in exchange for Israel agreeing to a ceasefire for several days, allowing aid into Gaza, and Israel releasing hundreds of convicted Palestinian criminals and terrorists. There are an estimated 122 hostages who are still being held captive.

Israeli actress and model Gal Gadot reportedly helped schedule an upcoming screening for Hollywood celebrities and prominent figures to view nearly an hour of footage of Hamas terrorizing Israeli communities near the Gaza Strip in early October.
Gadot, 38, joined Oscar-winning Israeli director Guy Nattiv in organizing the event, according to Israeli-based media.
&#8220;Gal Gadot and her husband, Yaron Varsano, helped make this possible,&#8221; Nattiv <a href="https://www.i24news.tv/en/news/israel-at-war/1699179051-gal-gadot-plans-hollywood-screening-of-idf-footage-depicting-hamas-atrocities" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
The footage provided by an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson reportedly shows 47 minutes of atrocities committed by Hamas, who murdered more than 1,400 people in Israel on October 7.
Nattiv, 50, who won the Best Short Film Oscar for &#8220;Skin&#8221; at the Academy Awards in 2019, described himself as a humanist advocating for a two-state solution between Israel and Palestinian-controlled territories. The filmmaker said he felt compelled to screen the footage after much of the world remained detached from the suffering of the Jewish population during the Holocaust era.
&#8220;As a filmmaker, I swore that these images of October 7 would not be forgotten, and the world would see them,&#8221; Nattiv said. &#8220;Because now the denial begins — it is a fake, it is not a fake (…) We cannot pass by in silence.&#8221;
According to the outlet, hundreds of foreign journalists and members of the Israeli Knesset have already viewed the footage and described the content as deeply disturbing. Some Israeli lawmakers were too overwhelmed to finish watching the recordings.
&#8220;People who have film experience, so we can show them this crazy document that is reminiscent of the films created about the Holocaust,&#8221; Nattiv said.
Details about the guest list or the screening location remain undisclosed. Still, the outlet reported the organizers plan to have one initial screening for 120 spectators and then possibly schedule additional screenings.
It comes as no surprise that Gadot helped organize the event — she joined hundreds of celebrities who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/700-hollywood-celebs-sign-open-letter-condemning-hamas-attacks-this-is-terrorism-this-is-evil" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> an open letter in support of Israel that condemns the recent terrorist attacks by Hamas.
The list included Jerry Seinfeld, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Pine, Mayim Bialik, Liev Schreiber, Amy Schumer, and Michael Douglas — to name a few of the more than 700 celebrities and entertainment professionals who signed the letter, which was created by the nonprofit organization Creative Community For Peace.  Besides recounting the horrors of the attack, the letter urges people not to “amplify or fall for” the “propaganda” that’s being circulated online in a “misinformation campaign spearheaded by Iran.”

During a recent interview with <a href="https://comicbook.com/movies/news/gal-gadot-wonder-woman-3-james-gunn-peter-safran-dc-films/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ComicBook.com</a>, the 38-year-old actress said &#8220;Wonder Woman 3&#8221; was still in the works, referencing an apparent conversation with the new heads of the studio — James Gunn and Peter Safran — who took over last year.
&#8220;I love portraying Wonder Woman,&#8221; Gadot said when asked about one more film in the franchise. &#8220;It&#8217;s so close to and dear to my heart.&#8221;
&#8220;From what I heard from James [Gunn] and from Peter [Safran] is that we&#8217;re gonna develop a &#8216;Wonder Woman 3&#8217; together,&#8221; she added.

In December, <a href="https://au.variety.com/2022/film/news/patty-jenkins-wonder-woman-star-wars-rogue-squadron-dc-7839/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a> surfaced about the future of the third film, with Gadot reprising the role under the direction of Jenkins, who directed the franchise&#8217;s first two movies, &#8220;Wonder Woman&#8221; and &#8220;Wonder Woman 1984.&#8221;
Initially, speculation was that Jenkins had &#8220;walked away&#8221; and &#8220;Wonder Woman 3&#8221; was not happening because the director had refused to reshape the film after it was announced Gunn and Safran were taking over and the pair had shared there was going to be some changes in the DC Universe.
Jenkins then went public, disputing claims she ever &#8220;walked away&#8221; from the sequel, <a href="https://au.variety.com/2022/film/news/patty-jenkins-wonder-woman-star-wars-rogue-squadron-dc-7839/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Variety</a> noted.
&#8220;When there started being backlash about WW3 not happening, the attractive clickbait false story that it was me that killed it or walked away started to spread,&#8221; her statement read. &#8220;This is simply not true. I never walked away.&#8221;
&#8220;I was open to considering anything asked of me,&#8221; she added. &#8220;It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now.&#8221;
There are not currently any films titled &#8220;Wonder Woman among the slate of projects coming out of DC&#8217;s Chapter One of the DC Universe, called &#8220;Gods and Monsters,&#8221; the CB.com noted.
The interview was done before SAG actor&#8217;s strike, the outlet noted.

Actress Gal Gadot’s newest movie won’t be available in at least two Middle Eastern countries, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/02/12/israeli-actress-gal-gadots-death-on-the-nile-film-banned-in-lebanon-kuwait/">reported</a>. “Death on the Nile” is being banned in Lebanon and Kuwait due to Gadot’s past service in the Israeli Armed Forces. 
The 36-year-old “Wonder Woman” star served her mandatory two years of service before becoming a Hollywood actress. This is a requirement for all Israeli youth, the publication reported.
But thanks to mounting tensions in the Middle East, Gadot’s ties to the Israel Defense Forces is enough to get her movie banned in those countries simply because she’s in it. Lebanon also banned her popular “Wonder Woman” film. The ban comes from a law that boycotts Israeli products in the nation and keeps Lebanese citizens from traveling to Israel or associating with Israeli people, even on screen.
Gadot also inspired criticism last year when she shared support for her home country on Twitter amid rocket attacks from the West Bank of the region. 
“This is a vicious cycle that has been going on for far too long,” the actress tweeted at the time in May 2021.
“Israel deserves to live as a free and safe nation, Our neighbors deserve the same. I pray for the victims and their families. I pray for this unimaginable hostility to end, I pray for our leaders to find the solution so we can live side by side in peace.”
Gadot disabled comments on the tweet after critics accused her of supporting “ethnic cleansing” and “mass genocide.” But there were plenty of people who agreed with her, including Senator Ted Crux (R-TX) who simply <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/05/12/gal-gadots-message-of-middle-east-peace-creates-online-firestorm/?">said</a>, “God bless [Gal Gadot].”
According to <a href="https://variety.com/2022/film/news/box-office-death-on-the-nile-opening-weekend-marry-me-1235180259/">Variety</a>, “Death on the Nile” was number one at the box office over the weekend, earning $12.8 million in its opening days and besting the other new release, Jennifer Lopez’s new rom-com “Marry Me.”
The Disney and 20th Century Studios murder mystery features Gadot as part of an ensemble cast including Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright. The movie is based on the Agatha Christie novel by the same name from 1937 and serves as a sequel to “Murder on the Orient Express” (2017). 
“Death on the Nile” cost a whopping $90 million to produce, Variety <a href="https://variety.com/2022/film/news/box-office-death-on-the-nile-opening-weekend-marry-me-1235180259/">reported</a>, then racked up additional fees by getting delayed due to the pandemic. It will need to keep performing at the box office just to break even. Now there are two countries where the show will never see the light of day, all thanks to having Gadot in the cast.
The film earned mixed reviews from critics, who noted it as inferior to the previous adaptations but had positive things to say about the style, direction, cinematography, and acting. “Death on the Nile” currently has a 66% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 88% audience rating.

‘Death On The Nile’ Banned In Two Middle East Countries Over Gal Gadot’s Israeli Military Service

Joss Whedon is speaking out, and according to him, the allegations against him are partly due to a language barrier. The “Justice League” director came to his own defense as part of a New York Magazine <a href="https://www.vulture.com/article/joss-whedon-allegations.html#_ga=2.167349374.1503855504.1642441132-832842528.1642441132">interview</a> and firmly placed the blame on others.
Whedon, who also created the cult classic series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” said in the interview that people used “every weaponizable word of the modern era to make it seem like I was an abusive monster.”
“I think I’m one of the nicer showrunners that’s ever been,” he claimed.
The 57-year-old director specifically addressed allegations made by “Wonder Woman” actress Gal Gadot, who is of Israeli descent. Gadot said in May that Whedon “kind of threatened my career and said if I did something, he would make my career miserable.” This abuse of power allegedly took place during the lengthy reshoot phase of the DC movie.
“I was shocked by the way that he spoke to me,” Gadot told <a href="https://www.elle.com/culture/celebrities/a37927840/gal-gadot-women-in-hollywood-2021/">Elle</a> magazine. “You’re dizzy because you can’t believe this was just said to you. And if he says it to me, then obviously he says it to many other people.”
Whedon denied these claims at the time they were made. And now, he’s offering more of an explanation of what happened. 
“I don’t threaten people. Who does that?” Whedon said of Gadot’s version of events. He went on to describe how the actress must have misunderstood him due to a communication barrier. 
“English is not her first language, and I tend to be annoyingly flowery in my speech,” the “Justice League” director said. According to Whedon, the whole thing started when he said that if Gadot wanted a certain scene to get cut, she would have to “tie him to a railroad track and do it over his dead body.”
“Then I was told that I had said something about her dead body and tying her to the railroad track,” he explained.
But Gadot doubled down on the claims. “I understood perfectly,” she told the magazine in response to his explanation, Mediaite <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/entertainment/joss-whedon-denies-misconduct-claims-says-gal-gadot-misunderstood-him-english-is-not-her-first-language/">reported</a>. 
And that’s not the first time Whedon has been accused of aggressive behavior on set. Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia Chase on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, also claimed Whedon “abused his power&#8221; on set. She said he was both “hostile and toxic.”
 “He was mean and biting, disparaging about others openly, and often played favorites,” Carpenter said, <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/charisma-carpenter-accuses-joss-whedon-of-traumatizing-her-during-buffy-and-angel-4131004/">according to</a> The Hollywood Reporter.
And both she and Gadot had the support of co-stars, who verified those claims publicly. 
One witness from Justice League came to Gadot’s defense, saying Whedon’s bad treatment of the “Justice League” lead was an open secret.
“Joss was bragging that he’s had it out with Gal,” the witness said. “He told her he’s the writer and she’s going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie.”
