Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie were having problems even before the fateful cross-country road trip that ended with him allegedly killing her before eventually taking his own life.
Fox News and <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/gabby-petito-urged-brian-laundrie-stop-crying-love-letter-her-killer-released-fbi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">obtained</a> a 366-page document released by the FBI that included a copy of an undated letter Petito wrote to Laundrie before their trip.
&#8220;Brian, you know how much I love you, so (and I&#8217;m writing this with love) Just please stop crying and stop calling me names, because we&#8217;re a team,&#8221; Petito wrote in the letter, which included a reference to the couple coming back from New York. &#8220;And I&#8217;m here with you. I&#8217;m always going to have your back.&#8221;
Petito also apologized in the two-page, handwritten note for getting upset over “a dumb piece of paper,” while she tried to comfort Laundrie.
&#8220;I love you so much it hurts,&#8221; Petito wrote. &#8220;So you in pain is killing me. I&#8217;m not trying to be negative, but I&#8217;m frustrated there&#8217;s not more I can do.&#8221;
Petito repeatedly wrote of her love for Laundrie while also apologizing for alleged transgressions she doesn’t name and pleading with him to forgive her.
&#8220;I hope you understand when I&#8217;m upset it&#8217;s cause you make me love you too much,&#8221; she wrote. &#8220;Now…stop crying! And come home and say you love me with a big hug.&#8221;
The FBI released the documents more than three months after the Petito and Laundrie families <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gabby-petitos-father-speaks-out-after-lawsuit-settled-with-brian-laundries-family" target="_blank" rel="noopener">settled a lawsuit</a> filed by the Petitos for an unspecified amount.

Laundrie also referred to Petito’s death as his “mistake” and insisted that he was not ending his life “because of a fear of punishment but rather because I cant [sic] stand to live another day without her.”
Petito and Laundrie were driving across the country visiting national parks when Petito went missing. She was last seen alive in late August before her family reported her missing in early September after Laundrie returned to his parents’ home in Florida without her. Laundrie’s family then reported him missing on September 17.

The father of Gabby Petito, who was murdered by her fiancé Brian Laundrie while the two were on a cross-country road trip, has spoken out for the first time since the family settled a civil lawsuit against the Laundries.
Joe Petito sat down for <a href="https://www.wfla.com/news/florida/gabby-petitos-father-speaks-for-first-time-since-laundrie-settlement-pushes-for-new-domestic-violence-bill/">an interview</a> with WFLA, but said he couldn’t speak about the specifics of the settlement.
“I would love to get into more details about it, but unfortunately at this time I just can’t,” he said.
He reiterated that the families “reluctantly” came together to settle the lawsuit, which the Petitos filed against the Laundries last year, alleging the Laundries helped their son escape law enforcement. A civil trial for the lawsuit was scheduled to begin in May but will no longer take place.
<div class="p-rich_text_section">Instead of discussing the settlement, Petito discussed a bill he has been trying to get passed in the Florida legislature, which would give state law enforcement training that would help them identify victims of intimate partner violence who are at risk of death or serious injury. The bill, according to WFLA, would have law enforcement ask 12 questions to help determine the risk:</div>

“All parties reluctantly agreed in order to avoid further legal expenses and prolonged personal conflict,” the statement said. “Our hope is to close this chapter of our lives to allow us to move on and continue to honor the legacy of our beautiful daughter, Gabby.”

Everything was frantic and I started to not really comprehend, and then he said just, you know, ‘Can you help me?’ And I said, ‘Okay. I’ll help you.’ And I calmed him down and I said — I don’t know.”
“It was — it was all mumbled and I still don’t remember everything that happened, but, you know, he said he needed help and to get an attorney,” Chris continued. “And I told him, ‘Yeah, I’ll help you. I’ll call Steven Bertolino, and just stay put.’ And then I asked him again, and he just said, ‘Just help me.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I’m going to, so stay calm. Stay put.’ And he hung up.”

Reilly wrote in the court filing that the FBI had collected the letter as evidence but released it back to the Laundries earlier this year. He claims to have seen the letter, reporting earlier that “burn after reading” was written on the envelope.
He has also mentioned in previous interviews that Roberta had allegedly offered to bake a cake with a weapon inside, but until now, that claim has not been included in a court filing.
Laundrie, 23, is believed to have committed suicide after he went missing following the murder of his fiancée <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/gabby-petito" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gabby Petito</a>, whom Laundrie admitted to killing, according to the FBI. His remains were found in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park in October 2021, and his family’s attorney released the notebook found with his body in June 2022
“I ended her life,” Laundrie wrote, according to <a href="https://static.foxnews.com/foxnews.com/content/uploads/2022/06/Gabby-note-better.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a copy</a> of the notebook <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/gabby-petito-murder-brian-laundries-notebook-confession-revealed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exclusively</a> provided to Fox News. “I thought it was merciful, that it is what she wanted, but I see now all the mistakes I made. I panicked. I was in shock.”
Laundrie went on to claim that Petito, who was 22 when Laundrie allegedly strangled her to death, had injured herself in a fall while they were visiting Wyoming and that he killed her to take “away her pain.”

“Rushing back to our car trying to cross the streams of spread creek before it got too dark to see, to [sic] cold. I hear a splash and a scream,” Laundrie wrote, adding that he carried her as far as he could but had to stop to make a fire to keep them warm when he couldn’t make it back to the couple’s van.
He claimed Petito “had a small bump on her forehead that eventually got larger” and that she “continually made sounds of pain, laying next to her she said little lapsing between violent shakes, gasping in pain, begging for an end to her pain.”
Laundrie also referred to Petito’s death as his “mistake” and insisted that he was not ending his life “because of a fear of punishment but rather because I cant [sic] stand to live another day without her.”
Petito and Laundrie were driving across the country visiting national parks when Petito went missing. She was last seen alive in late August before her family reported her missing in early September after Laundrie returned to his parents’ home in Florida without her. Laundrie’s family then reported him missing on September 17.
Petito’s body was found in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming on September 19, 2021. Laundrie’s remains were found on October 20.
Reilly, the attorney for Petito’s family, <a href="https://people.com/crime/brian-laundrie-notebook-confession-killing-gabby-petito/?utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=news_tab" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> People that Laundrie’s claims about killing Petito out of mercy due to an accident were “nonsense.”
“He is writing a letter as though he wants people to feel sorry for him,” Reilly told the outlet.
Petito’s parents are <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gabby-petitos-parents-are-suing-brian-laundries-family" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suing</a> Laundrie’s family, alleging the Laundries knew their son had killed the Petito’s daughter and tried to help him evade capture.
Laundrie’s family has said they have “no regrets” for the way they acted following Petito’s disappearance.

On July 2, 2021, Petito left New York with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie. They took a road trip to Colorado and Utah. The selfie was taken at 4.37 p.m. on August 12, 2021, in Moab, Utah. The photo shows her with tears in her eyes and a bloody bruise around her eye, wearing the same clothes as the video footage when two officers later responded to the call.

Petito told officers Laundrie “grabbed my face,” showing them how he had attacked her.
“Did he slap your face or what?” one officer asked.
“He grabbed me with his nail, and I guess that’s why it looks — I definitely have a cut right here. I can feel it. When I touch it, it burns.” Petito replied. After Petito said she had struck Laundrie first, police reportedly left.
The Petito family has <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11723667/Gabby-Petito-selfie-shows-bruised-face-moments-traffic-stop-Brian-Laundrie.html">filed</a> a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against the Moab Police Department. Attorney Brian Stewart, stated, “Moab police failed to listen to Gabby, failed to investigate her injuries and the seriousness of her assault, and failed to follow their own training, policies, and Utah law.”

An attorney for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/gabby-petito" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gabby Petito&#8217;s</a> family suggested that the mother of alleged killer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/brian-laundrie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brian Laundrie</a> knew that her son killed Petito and offered him assistance in disposing of her body.
Pat Reilly, the attorney for the Petito family, wrote a letter to Matt Luka, the attorney for the Laundrie family, earlier this month informing him of materials he was seeking from the Laundrie family in a civil lawsuit.
The letter, which just became public record, references a letter that Reilly sought to obtain several months ago that Roberta Laundrie allegedly wrote to her son, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/gabby-petito-parents-attorney-claims-court-filing-roberta-laundrie-offered-lend-son-shovel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The letter was reportedly titled, &#8220;burn after reading.&#8221;
&#8220;This request certainly would also include the note that Roberta Laundrie wrote to Brian Laundrie, [in] which she offered to bring a shovel to help bury the body,&#8221; Reilly wrote. &#8220;The note was released to the custody of Mr. Bertolino on Friday, June 24, 2022 by the FBI.&#8221;
Reilly told Fox News that he was not comfortable describing what was in the letter and that the content was &#8220;very specific.&#8221; He said that he believes the letter proves that Roberta Laundrie &#8220;knew of Gabby&#8217;s murder before Gabby&#8217;s body was located.&#8221;
Steve Bertolino, the Laundries’ longtime family attorney, told Fox News that the allegations were &#8220;not based on fact but on conjecture only,&#8221; claiming that the letter was written prior to when the murder happened.
Petitio&#8217;s parents have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gabby-petitos-parents-sue-laundrie-family-lawyer-he-knew-she-was-dead" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filed a lawsuit</a> against Bertolino claiming he knew their daughter was dead when he publicly stated that the Laundrie family hoped “that the search for Miss Petito is successful and that Miss Petito is reunited with her family.”

The family of Brian Laundrie, the murderer of Gabby Petito, is demanding an apology from “Celebrity Jeopardy!” after the show featured a clue referencing Laundrie.
On Sunday night’s episode, the show offered a clue to contestants Michael Higgins, Wil Wheaton, and Joel Kim Booster that read, “In 2021, fugitive Brian Laundrie ended his days in Fla&#8217;s Myakkahatchee Creek area, home to these long &amp; toothy critters.” The correct answer was “alligators.”
&#8220;The entire Laundrie family is appalled and concurs with all of the comments on social media on how distasteful this was. I believe an apology is due,” Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino told <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2022/11/15/brian-laundrie-family-rips-celebrity-jeopardy-clue-suicide-gabby-petito/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TMZ</a>.

Video footage from a Whole Foods store in Wyoming shows the last moments <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/gabby-petito" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gabby Petito</a> was ever seen alive.
Twenty-three-year-old <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/brian-laundrie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brian Laundrie</a> confessed in a notebook before killing himself that he strangled his girlfriend, 22-year-old Petito, to death during the couple&#8217;s cross-country van trip.
The video, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/gabby-petito-brian-laundrie-bombshell-video-emerges-revealing-hours-before-murder" target="_blank" rel="noopener">obtained</a> exclusively by Fox News Digital, shows Petito and Laundrie shopping together on August 27, 2021, at a Whole Foods in Jackson, Wyoming. Laundrie is wearing a hat and sunglasses, and Petito has her arms crossed at times while browsing the store.
The pair would reportedly leave the store and drive to the campsite where Petito was strangled.
The footage could be from the same day Petito was killed, Fox News noted, citing an autopsy timeline and a civil lawsuit filed by Petito&#8217;s parents, which dates their daughter&#8217;s murder as August 27, 2021.

An autopsy in November revealed that Laundrie <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/just-in-autopsy-reveals-brian-laundrie-cause-of-death-as-suicide" target="_blank" rel="noopener">committed suicide</a> by shooting himself in the head.
The FBI said last October that a recovered notebook from Laundrie included a confession from the 23-year-old that he murdered Petito.
“I ended her life,” he wrote, according to <a href="https://static.foxnews.com/foxnews.com/content/uploads/2022/06/Gabby-note-better.pdf">a copy</a> of the notebook <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/gabby-petito-murder-brian-laundries-notebook-confession-revealed">exclusively</a> provided to Fox News. “I thought it was merciful, that it is what she wanted, but I see now all the mistakes I made. I panicked. I was in shock.”
Laundrie went on to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-ended-her-life-heres-what-brian-laundrie-wrote-in-his-notebook-before-he-killed-himself" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claim</a> that Petito had injured herself in a fall while they were visiting Wyoming and that he killed her to take “away her pain.”
“Rushing back to our car trying to cross the streams of spread creek before it got too dark to see, [too] cold. I hear a splash and a scream,” Laundrie wrote, adding that he carried her as far as he could but had to stop to make a fire to keep them warm when he couldn’t make it back to the couple’s van.
He claimed Petito “had a small bump on her forehead that eventually got larger,” and that she “continually made sounds of pain, laying next to her she said little lapsing between violent shakes, gasping in pain, begging for an end to her pain.”
Laundrie also referred to Petito’s death as his “mistake” and insisted that he was not ending his life “because of a fear of punishment but rather because I can&#8217;t stand to live another day without her.”
