Despite most companies moving away from virtue signaling, the NFL has decided to keep a frequently maligned feature this season. For the sixth straight season, all 32 teams will have messages painted in the end zones with social justice themes and undertones.
The NFL will again be advertising messages such as “End Racism,” “Stop Hate,” “Choose Love,” or “Inspire Change,” per <a href="https://apnews.com/article/nfl-end-zone-messages-end-racism-593ea0278bccb1d30f8c741ccadcf943">Associated Press</a>. Just like in years prior, the opposing end zone will bear the message, “It Takes All of Us.” The outlet noted that “Inspire Change” is the only update from last year, when the message said, “Vote.”
Players will also have the option to display these messages on their helmets.
“We’re working hand-in-hand with players, and alongside our clubs, to amplify player voices and underscore what is most important to them,” Anna Isaacson, NFL senior VP of social responsibility, told the AP. “For decades, the NFL and its players have been a unifying force in American culture and society that brings people of all cultures and backgrounds together to enjoy America’s most popular sport.”

“This is an honor and responsibility that the league takes seriously, which is why we actively invest in off-field programs and on-field initiatives that promote unity,” she added.
Reactions on social media were mostly negative, with followers questioning why the NFL was keeping up this campaign when so many other companies and organizations are moving in the opposite direction.
“Can&#8217;t we just escape politics and wokeism for a measly 3 hours and watch football? I&#8217;m out. I&#8217;m totally done with the NFL,” one reply <a href="https://x.com/PamelaHensley22/status/1957392218513129655">said</a>.
“It&#8217;s a shame, the actual game is lost on woke social practices.”
Many commenters also remarked on the current controversy about male cheerleaders being promoted as part of several NFL squads.
“Dumb. And also now with the male cheerleaders? Why?” one person <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fan-backlash-against-male-nfl-cheerleaders-intensifies-vikings-issue-statement">wrote</a>.

Director Spike Lee&#8217;s multi-part documentary about former NFL player Colin Kaepernick is being left on the cutting room floor, according to reports.
The controversial quarterback was going to be the subject of the project, which was slated to air on ESPN.
&#8220;ESPN, Colin Kaepernick and Spike Lee have collectively decided to no longer proceed with this project as a result of certain creative differences,&#8221; the sports network said in a statement to <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/espn-will-not-air-spike-lees-docuseries-colin-kaepernick-citing-creative-2025-08-16/">Reuters</a> on Saturday. &#8220;Despite not reaching finality, we appreciate all the hard work and collaboration that went into this film.&#8221;
Lee also personally confirmed with Reuters that the series got axed, but would not elaborate, citing a non-disclosure agreement. 
&#8220;It&#8217;s not coming out. That&#8217;s all I can say,&#8221; the filmmaker said when questioned on the red carpet ahead of a fundraising event in Beverly Hills on Friday. &#8220;I can&#8217;t talk about it,&#8221; Lee said when pressed.
Production on the series began in 2022 with the project being touted as a &#8220;full, first-person account&#8221; of Kaepernick&#8217;s life, career, and controversy, featuring interviews with the man himself.

In September, the series was reportedly being delayed over disagreements between Kaepernick and Lee on the direction of the film. ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro was open to shopping the project with other networks, Reuters reported. 
The 49ers picked Kaepernick in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He led the team to Super Bowl 47 in 2012 but lost in a close game to the Baltimore Ravens. He stayed with the 49ers until they released him in March 2017, and no other team has picked him up since, despite him being open to coming back.
The former NFL quarterback took a lot of criticism for his refusal to stand for the national anthem back in 2016 over complaints of racism.
&#8220;I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,&#8221; Kaepernick said at the time. &#8220;To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.&#8221;
Kaepernick has stayed in the headlines since losing his NFL job, primarily for his outspoken, radical social activism.

Many NFL fans are furious over videos of male cheerleaders being introduced as part of the 2025 cheerleading squad for the Minnesota Vikings.
While male cheerleaders have been part of NFL squads for several years, a clip of rookie cheerleader Blaize Shiek being introduced went viral on social media, igniting significant backlash. Shiek is one of two male cheerleaders on the Vikings squad, joining Louie Conn this season. 
“Dear Minnesota Vikings, Just Stop. Sincerely, All Sane Americans,” one popular reply on X <a href="https://x.com/OutlawPatriotX/status/1955419078971232490">said</a>. 
“Because nothing says ‘football’ like watching Chad do high kicks in booty shorts,” another person <a href="https://x.com/Salt_T1/status/1955362061497799027">quipped</a>.

Others noted that even though male cheerleaders are nothing new, the presentation now is vastly different. 
“Im not opposed to male cheerleaders like those guys on college teams that help with stunts or whatever but I am opposed to guys holding pom poms,” one person observed, echoing what others have been saying about Shiek’s flamboyant, overly feminine look and behavior.
Shiek seemed to troll critics with a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DNI80qpNB4e/?hl=en">video</a> posted on Instagram. In it, one female Vikings cheerleader asks another, “Wait, where are the boys?” to which the second woman replies, “I don’t know. I heard they were throwing a fit.”
Then Shiek and Conn strut forward with their pom poms, as Shiek dramatically flipped his hair back and forth.
“SEE YOU AT 3,” Shiek wrote in the caption, referencing kickoff time. He went on to cheer during a preseason Minnesota Vikings game against the Houston Texans at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The response got so bad that the Vikings released a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxztOLNyLfI">statement</a> to NBC News on Wednesday.
“Male cheerleaders have been part of previous Vikings teams and have long been associated with collegiate and professional cheerleading,” the team said. “We support all our cheerleaders and are proud of the role they play as ambassadors of the organization.”
Per The Spun via <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/article/12-nfl-teams-adding-male-212045510.html">Yahoo Sports</a>, 12 out of the 32 NFL teams have male cheerleaders. And while many X users were celebrating that Shiek is at least a male who isn’t pretending to be female, that’s not the case everywhere.

Taylor Swift poked fun at her image among NFL fans in a sneak peek from her appearance on her boyfriend Travis Kelce&#8217;s podcast, set to premiere Wednesday night.
The 35-year-old pop star <a href="https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/taylor-swift-new-heights-podcast-upset-male-sports-fans-1236042683/">made a joke</a> about being a guest on the “New Heights” sports podcast, which is hosted by Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce. Travis is currently the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, and Jason retired in 2024 after playing center for 13 years with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The “Shake It Off” singer was referring to NFL fans who got annoyed by Swift constantly being shown on camera during Chiefs games last season. But some league officials insisted her attendance helped bring the sport to a new audience, boosting viewership numbers. 
The league said in a <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38568388/nfl-defends-focus-swift-kelce-pop-cultural-moment">statement</a> in October 2023 that they had “seen an incredible amount of positivity around the sport&#8221; with Swift around and said “the vast majority” of the broadcast remained “focused on the game, our players, and [a] variety of other initiatives.”
That same month, Travis agreed that the focus on Swift was overdone.
&#8220;I think it’s fun when they show who was at the game. I think it brings a little bit more to the atmosphere, brings a little bit more to what you’re watching. But at the same time I think…,” Travis <a href="https://people.com/travis-kelce-says-nfl-overdoing-it-focus-on-him-and-taylor-swift-8347224">said</a> at the time.
&#8220;They&#8217;re overdoing it,&#8221; Jason suggested, prompting Travis to agree.
&#8220;They’re overdoing it a little bit for sure, especially my situation. [But] I think they’re just trying to have fun with it,” the Chiefs player said.

Dave Portnoy is again weighing in on the viral Bill Belichick interview and fallout, saying there’s a “zero percent chance” Belichick wrote the statement accusing CBS News of &#8220;selectively editing.&#8221;
The Barstool Sports founder sat down with journalist Megyn Kelly to provide insight into the situation, adding that he knows the 73-year-old North Carolina head football coach and his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, “personally.”
“He lives on Nantucket. I live on Nantucket. I&#8217;ve met Jordon, so it&#8217;s a very awkward thing to see,” Portnoy told Kelly on her Thursday podcast.

&#8220;In my years following Bill Belichick, I would say my knowledge of him, there’s roughly zero percent chance he wrote that,” he said of the statement. “But he just doesn’t care generally what anyone thinks about him,” Portnoy continued. “So to go write that —  my guess would be Jordon wrote that.”
“I was not expecting this interview,” he added. “I was squirming. I don&#8217;t know what to expect. I don&#8217;t know what to think about it. It certainly was awkward … I don&#8217;t know why she&#8217;s so involved, I really don&#8217;t. I&#8217;ve met her. She&#8217;s nice enough, she&#8217;s running the whole show.” 
Portnoy said, “Every piece of Bill Belichick business goes through her … Like if that was maybe not in a romantic relationship, and that&#8217;s his PR manager … nobody&#8217;s blinking at that … It’s just a very awkward situation. The age gap is huge, clearly, but she runs the show.”
“It&#8217;s such a juxtaposition of a guy who seemingly had no media savvy, but was always just straightforward, no time for the media. Now, having his life run by a [24-year-old], it certainly it’s eye-opening for a guy like me,” he added.
“I also know I&#8217;m gonna run into them in Nantucket, and I&#8217;m gonna be carrying my watermelon out of Stop-and-Shop, and I don&#8217;t want it to be an awkward conversation,” Portnoy told Kelly.  “It went super viral. It&#8217;s all anybody&#8217;s talking about … because it&#8217;s just such a departure from how a sports fan page or fan everybody thought of Bill Belichick.”
Kelly said Hudson’s actions had entered the realm of “elder abuse” and gave her “Dr. Jill [Biden]” vibes. 
She said if the “situation were reversed” and it was an older woman dating a controlling younger man, “we’d be accusing him of elder abuse and asking whether he’s guilty of coercive control, and whether this woman is OK.”
Belichick released a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bill-belichick-accuses-cbs-of-selectively-editing-interview-to-make-younger-girlfriend-look-bad">statement</a> following the tense interview going viral, saying they had previously agreed to only discuss topics related to the book and not his relationship but those requests were “not honored.” 
“[Hudson] was not deflecting any specific question or topic but simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track,” he continued, saying the interview was “selectively edited” in an effort to “suggest a false narrative.”

North Carolina Tar Heels head football coach Bill Belichick released a statement on Wednesday about the recent CBS interview that went viral, claiming the network &#8220;selectively edited&#8221; footage to make it appear as though his younger girlfriend was running the show.
Fans have reacted by saying that Jordon Hudson, 24, was overly controlling and refused to allow Belichick, 73, to answer some questions. 
The former general manager and head coach of the New England Patriots claimed the discourse surrounding the interview was a “false narrative.”
&#8220;Prior to this interview, I clearly communicated with my publicist at Simon &amp; Schuster that any promotional interviews I participated in would agree to focus solely on the contents of the book,&#8221; Belichick <a href="https://x.com/BrendanRMarks/status/1917639712530907465">said</a>. &#8220;Unfortunately, that expectation was not honored during the interview.&#8221;
Belichick said he was &#8220;surprised when unrelated topics were introduced&#8221; and claimed interviewer Tony Dokoupil brought up his romantic relationship “several times” when the topic of the interview was supposed to be promoting his new book.

&#8220;[Hudson] was not deflecting any specific question or topic but simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;Some of the clips make it appear as though we were avoiding the question of how we met, but we have been open about the fact that Jordon and I met on a flight to Palm Beach in 2021.&#8221;
Belichick added, &#8220;The final eight-minute segment does not reflect the productive 35-minute conversation we had, which covered a wide range of topics related to my career. Instead, it presents selectively edited clips and stills from just a few minutes of the interview to suggest a false narrative — that Jordon was attempting to control the conversation — which is simply not true.&#8221;
The network responded to the statement, saying, &#8220;When we agreed to speak with Mr. Belichick, it was for a wide-ranging interview. There were no preconditions or limitations to this conversation.” 
Belichick has been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bill-belichick-interview-goes-viral-after-his-24-year-old-girlfriend-calls-the-shots">roasted</a> after the release of the interview, which included Hudson snapping a terse, “We’re not talking about this,” when Dokoupil asked how they met. 
Many criticized the interview, which aired on CBS Sunday Morning, with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy writing, “My Sunday morning routine is always coffee and CBS Sunday Morning. It’s a feel good show. The opposite of controversial. So [imagine] my surprise this morning when they had the most awkward Bill Belichick interview I’ve ever seen. Like I was squirming in my seat.”
British broadcaster Piers Morgan wrote, “It was utterly excruciating. Mr Belichick needs a family or friend intervention asap.”
“I actually felt uneasy with his girlfriend,” another X user noted. “If he were my Dad, I’d be watching her very closely. She is definitely controlling the relationship &amp; is securing her financial future. It’s a bit creepy.”

Collective cries of anguish echoed through the heavens this past weekend. You may have heard the sound. It was the sound of trauma. Of heartbreak. Of great moral outrage. It was the sound of the Left-wing hacks in sports media reacting to Shedeur Sanders, the son of former NFL star Deion Sanders, being drafted into the the NFL a little bit later than most people expected.
For some background and context, Shedeur Sanders is a quarterback who played for The University of Colorado where his dad, Deion Sanders, is the head coach. For months, most analysts projected that he would be selected in the first round of the NFL draft, which began on Thursday and ran for three days and seven total rounds. But the prognosticators in sports media are about as credible, and have about as good a track record, as the political prognosticators in the news media. Which is to say they&#8217;re full of crap most of the time. So Shedeur was not drafted in the first or even second round. Instead he didn&#8217;t come off the board until the fifth round, when he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns — who selected a different quarterback, some other players, a water boy, a cheerleader, and a janitor before they finally got around to drafting Shedeur.
Why does any of this matter? Well, it doesn’t matter. But to the commentators in sports media, it was a national tragedy. Shedeur’s brief draft slide was ESPN’s 9-11. It was the NFL Network’s Pearl Harbor. They’ll never forget where they were when it happened. They were shell shocked. Dumbfounded. Grief stricken. 
Here are two very short clips that should give you a pretty good idea of how they were covering the news:

&#8220;It&#8217;s disgusting. I don’t get it. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s never happened before. I just want to reach out and give him a hug. This is such a tough time for him.&#8221;
To be clear, they aren’t talking about someone who survived a school shooting. They&#8217;re talking about an already wealthy and famous athlete who had to wait a day longer than expected to be drafted into the NFL and get paid millions of dollars to play football. This is like weeping in the street because a trust fund baby got the wrong color Ferrari for her sweet 16. Most of the human population would kill just for the chance to experience this kind of &#8220;disappointment.&#8221; But the sports media treated Shedeur like a holocaust survivor.
All of this would just be kind of funny and embarrassing but not worth discussing. After all, sports media embarrasses itself in some form pretty much every day. They embarrass themselves even more often than the news media, if you can believe it. But what makes this whole spectacle something worse, and perhaps more notable, is the reason why the sports media were so outraged.
They — very predictably — made it about race. It was decided that Shedeur Sanders fell in the draft because he&#8217;s black.

As an article in The Root put it in “<a href="https://www.theroot.com/i-am-a-leader-i-forge-my-own-path-shedeur-sanders-mak-1848432864" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Shedeur Sanders</a> not getting drafted in the first, second or third rounds of the NFL draft is like when that white cashier scrunches up her face and drops change in your hand instead of running the risk of touching you. Was she a racist Karen, or is that how she treats all customers? It’s a racism Rorschach test.”
Never mind the question of how else a cashier is supposed to transfer change from her hand to yours. What do you want her to do? Stroke your arm gently as she sensuously places one coin at a time into your palm? Personally I prefer that she just drop the change into my hand so we can both move on with our lives. But that’s how I interpret the “racism Rorschach test.” On the other hand, for the race hustlers, when it comes to the racism Rorschach test, the answer is always yes. And that’s why lots of commentators in sports media jumped in to make it about race. Here&#8217;s another brief highlight reel:

That was Ryan Clark, Emmanuel Acho, and Skip Bayless — three of the most prominent sports commentators in the country. All of them agree that this came down to race. Skip is practically in tears over it. Emmanuel says he was up all night “muling&#8221; about it, whatever the hell that&#8217;s supposed to mean. I assume the word he was reaching for was “mulling.” But the other thing about sports commentators is that they are, for the most part, fantastically stupid.
Stephen A Smith was also outraged. He was tweeting in a frantic hysteria all weekend, repeatedly invoking Colin Kaepernick and alleging that there was &#8220;collusion&#8221; at play, just as there was, allegedly, to keep Kaepernick out of the league.
And it wasn&#8217;t just sports commentators. Jamaal Bowman, the former congressman famous only for pulling a fire alarm, put out a video on Saturday claiming that Shedeur’s fate is more evidence that &#8220;America continues to fear strong black men.” 
He also said this:

Now, given that I have an audience of intelligent people — certainly more intelligent than Jamaal Bowman, who has the approximate IQ of a rubber spatula — I probably don&#8217;t need to explain that these racism complaints are totally asinine.
If you think that Shedeur wasn’t drafted in the first round because he&#8217;s black, you’ll have to explain why the guy selected number one overall is black. Also the guy selected number two is black. So was the guy selected number three. So was the guy selected number six, number seven, number eight, number nine, eleven, twelve, thirteen, and so on. There were 32 selections in the first round. All but five of them were black. And this ratio held up through the entire draft, just as it did in last year&#8217;s draft, and the year before that, and before that, and before that, for decades. Which is why only 25% of the players in the NFL are white. All of the rest are black, or some other racial minority.
The vast majority of NFL players are black. The vast majority of the biggest stars are black. The highest paid player in the league is black.
So where is the racism coming into play? Is it that black players are held to a higher standard? Are black players scrutinized and penalized and criticized more? No, definitely not. Deshaun Watson — a black quarterback — was credibly accused of sexual assault by over 20 women and yet was still given the richest contract in league history after all of these accusations were made public. There are black players in the league who have been involved in all manner of scandals and crimes and alleged crimes. The Baltimore Ravens selected a player in the second round of this year’s draft who was accused of rape in high school and college. He’s also black. But they needed an edge rusher, and the kid has talent, so they overlooked the rape stuff. That&#8217;s how NFL teams operate. They don&#8217;t care about the color of your skin or crimes on your rap sheet. They only care if you can help them win games. Winning is the only thing that matters. The Ravens most legendary player of all time, a black man, was charged with double murder. A year later he won Super Bowl MVP. Nothing matters in football but winning. Which is what I love about football, actually. It&#8217;s the ultimate meritocracy.
Shedeur suffered his tragic drop, for which all of humanity weeps and the heavens cry out for justice, because he&#8217;s not a great prospect. He&#8217;s a pretty good prospect, but not great. He’s not as talented as a lot of the guys who went before him. Also, to make matters much worse, he’s a high maintenance diva with an ego bigger than any room he walks into. According to lots of reports, that&#8217;s exactly how he came across in his pre-draft interviews with various teams. This is a guy who had a room custom built just for the draft night broadcast with the word “legendary” painted all over the walls. He hosted a draft party where he performed some rap songs — apparently he moonlights as a rapper — and walked around with a giant brief case full of cash.

At the NFL scouting combine, he said he doesn’t even need to explain why an NFL team should draft him. 
There&#8217;s no question that Shedeur deserves it, according to Shedeur. Listen:

If you aren&#8217;t ready to change your culture, don&#8217;t draft him. That was his message to teams considering drafting him. A message that was apparently heard loud and clear.
This is, of course, the opposite of what you want to say in a job interview. Employers are looking for candidates who will fit their workplace culture, not candidates who demand that the culture change for them. Imagine walking into an interview and saying, &#8220;Hey, if you hire me, I’m going to need you to change your whole culture and the entire way that you do business. That&#8217;s how special I am.” That’s a surefire recipe for getting laughed out of the room. The only real mystery here is how this jackass managed to find any team dumb and desperate enough to draft him. But it’s Cleveland we&#8217;re talking about. Dumb and desperate is their brand. It turns out they actually won&#8217;t have to change their culture at all.
In any case, in this story we find the real tragedy of the Left-wing race hustle. We find what really makes it so harmful. Which is that it constantly destroys opportunities for much more productive conversations. So many teachable moments have been wasted over the past several years because the usual suspects injected their racial victimization narrative into it, completely derailing what could have otherwise been a useful discussion.
In this case we could have been talking about the value of humility. And we could use more conversations about humility, as it falls second only to chastity as the most underrated virtue of our time. Shedeur comes from a generation that has been thoroughly brainwashed into the religion of self-worship. And his dad is Deion Sanders, who is one of the prophets of that religion. But in the real world, you can only get away with being a narcissistic nightmare if you’re extremely talented and gifted — if the weight of your ego is still somehow outweighed by your skills. Even then, you’re only getting away with being a narcissist. It certainly isn&#8217;t helping you. And eventually, as your skills fade — as they will for everyone, no matter your line of work — this equation may not work out in your favor anymore. The thing about a narcissist is that their skills, their talents, their physical gifts — whatever it is that’s causing people to put up with their nonsense — won’t last forever. But narcissism, unchecked, will last forever. Or at least until death. In fact, it will probably even grow with age, like a tumor.
So the lesson is that, no matter how talented you are, it’s better to be humble. There are two kinds of people in this world, after all. The humble, and those who will be humbled. As Christ explains to us in the Beatitudes. Better to be in the first group than the second. That’s the lesson we could take from this. But instead we’re hearing again about racism. Because why talk about real issues, when you can talk about fake ones. If the media had a motto, that would be it.

Legendary football coach Bill Belichick, 73, is facing major backlash for comments made by his younger girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, 24, during a recent CBS interview to promote his new book. 
Interviewer Tony Dokoupil asked about Belichick’s relationship by hinting that fans have had different reactions to it, especially considering the 49-year age gap. When the interviewer asked Belichick how the couple met, Hudson, who was sitting nearby, jumped in with a stern, “We&#8217;re not talking about this.” 
Dokoupil turned to her and asked, “No?”

Jax Ulbrich, the 21-year-old son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, has issued a formal apology for a prank call he made to Colorado Buffaloes quarterback prospect Shedeur Sanders on Friday during the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sanders is the son of Colorado coach and NFL legend Deion Sanders and made headlines over the weekend for his significant drop in the draft, from being projected as a potential first-round pick to being chosen in the fifth round. 
Ulbrich was able to find the football player&#8217;s phone number and orchestrated the prank call to Sanders claiming he had been selected by the New Orleans Saints, per <a href="https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2025/04/27/sport/son-of-atlanta-falcons-coach-apologizes-shedeur-sanders-prank-spt">CNN</a>.
Sanders was live-streaming his draft experience when he received a call from someone impersonating Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis. The caller said, “We’re going to take you with our next pick,” then added, “But you’re going to have to wait a little longer,” before abruptly hanging up and laughing. A recording of the call went viral on social media.

Jax Ulbrich admitted to accessing Sanders’ draft contact information from an open iPad at his parents&#8217; home and orchestrating the prank. He <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DI9oQO2Rdbl/">said</a> in his apology that his actions were “completely inexcusable, embarrassing, and shameful.” 
&#8220;I’m so sorry I took away from your moment, it was selfish and childish. I could never imagine getting ready to celebrate one of the greatest moments of your life and I made a terrible mistake and messed with that moment. Thank you for accepting my call earlier today, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me,” he said.
The Atlanta Falcons also released a statement confirming Jax&#8217;s involvement and clarifying that Jeff Ulbrich was not involved in the prank. The team apologized to Sanders and his family and pledged to review and update security protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future. ​
Sanders responded by calling the prank &#8220;childish.&#8221;  
“Nobody has that number but coaches, strictly for that reason,” he said. “Why get mad? They want you to have a certain type of reaction to it. They want you to feel bad. But I ain’t trippin.’”
Sanders was later selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round as the 144th overall pick.

A 17-year-old Texas boy was stabbed to death on Wednesday at a high school track meet after the victim reportedly told the alleged 17-year-old assailant that he was sitting in the wrong seat. The boy died in his twin brother’s arms.

<a href="https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/student-stabbed-frisco-track-meet/3806667/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According</a> to Jeff Metcalf, his son Austin — whose identical twin Hunter was nearby and saw the confrontation —  had a 4.0 GPA and was MVP of Frisco ISD’s Memorial High School football team. He did not know the alleged assailant when the incident occurred at Kuykendall Stadium at roughly 10 a.m.
“They were twins, identical twins, and his brother was holding on to him, trying to make it stop bleeding, and he died in his brother&#8217;s arms,” Jeff Metcalf said. “I rushed up there and I saw him on the gurney and I could tell &#8212; they said he wasn&#8217;t breathing. I could see all the blood, and I saw where the wound was, and I was very concerned, so I had to find his brother, and we rushed to the hospital. And we prayed, and it&#8217;s God&#8217;s plan. I don&#8217;t understand it, but they weren&#8217;t able to save him. This is murder.”
“I tried to whip around as fast as I could,” Hunter Metcalf <a href="https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/local/frisco-texas-isd-track-meet-suspended-emergency-incident-schoo-district-kuykendall-stadium/287-6380955c-e03d-4aeb-837f-a0fc31a46c40" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “I looked at my brother and I’m not going to talk about the rest. I tried to help him.”
“He was on the right track,” Jeff Metcalf said of Austin. “He was loved by many. He was a leader.”
“I&#8217;m not trying to judge, but what kind of parents did this child have?” Jeff Metcalf asked. “What was he taught? He brought a knife to a track meet and he murdered my son by stabbing him in the heart. The guy was in the wrong place and they asked him to move and he bowed up. This is murder. You know what, I already forgive this person. Already. God takes care of things. God is going to take care of me. God is going to take care of my family.”
The twins and their father consistently went hunting together.
Karmelo Anthony, 17, a senior at Centennial High School, was<a href="https://nypost.com/2025/04/03/us-news/texas-teen-austin-metcalf-fatally-stabbed-by-karmelo-anthony-at-high-school-track-meet/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> charged</a> by Frisco police with Metcalf&#8217;s murder.
“The Frisco Police Department grieves with all those affected by this devastating loss and extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family, students, and staff who are experiencing unimaginable pain,” the Frisco Police Department stated. “The department is collaborating with the Frisco Independent School District and will continue to provide any support they need during this incredibly difficult time.”
