FDA Commissioner Marty Makary says the &#8220;Make America Healthy Again&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rfk-jrs-highly-anticipated-maha-commission-report-is-out-heres-what-to-know" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> on potential causes of chronic diseases in American children calls for a shift from a &#8220;reactionary&#8221; to a &#8220;proactive&#8221; healthcare system in the United States.
The Trump administration official, who appeared for &#8220;Sunday Morning Futures&#8221; <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6373468984112" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> with Fox News anchor Jackie DeAngelis, argues that more focus should be placed on food and environmental toxins rather than fixating on drugs and treatments.
&#8220;Scientists have been waving the flag for years, saying you have got to look at this body of scientific data. And the modern medical establishment really has been disconnected. We have been so busy focusing on treatment, on billing and coding in a high-throughput model,&#8221; Makary said.
&#8220;We have got to stop and ask ourselves, should we be focusing more on school lunch programs, not just putting every kid on Ozempic?&#8221; he added, referring to a drug widely used for weight loss. &#8220;We have got to talk about food as medicine and gut health and the microbiome. We have got to talk about environmental toxins that cause cancer, not just the chemo to treat it.&#8221;
&#8220;And maybe we need to treat more diabetes with cooking classes, not just throwing insulin at people. This report is a fresh new approach that really calls for a transformation of our health care system from a reactionary system to a proactive system.&#8221;
Makary said he could &#8220;not be more excited&#8221; about the report with its takeaways about ultra-processed foods, environmental toxins, stress, and the lack of physical activity, as well as the reliance on medications and vaccines. The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rfk-jrs-highly-anticipated-maha-commission-report-is-out-heres-what-to-know" target="_blank" rel="noopener">covered</a> its findings last week when it was released by Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
&#8220;There are no sacred cows. It talks about 70% of the diet being ultra-processed. It talks about pesticides, microplastics, natural light exposure in children, sleep quality,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And, remember, Republican, Democrat and independent moms showed up in high numbers to vote for President Trump over this very issue.&#8221;
Makary emphasized the findings come from a &#8220;purely independent scientific report on the state of health in America&#8221; when DeAngelis pressed him about the power of the food industry and lobbyists in Washington who might try to fight to stop change.
&#8220;This report talks about how we fix our broken health care system by getting at the root causes and the ultimate issue that we have not been talking about, and that is the health of the population,&#8221; Makary said. &#8220;When you have 40% of our nation&#8217;s children with a chronic disease, that portends for a very expensive future health care system. We can address it. There are many things that we can do even at the FDA addressing food, which many people forget is, the first letter of the FDA is food. It&#8217;s not just drugs.&#8221;

Major companies like PepsiCo and Tyson Foods are accelerating changes to their American recipes to more align with the &#8220;Make America Healthy Again&#8221; agenda.
Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rfk-jr-to-ban-petroleum-based-food-dyes?utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=dwbrand" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> last month that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is working with companies to phase out petroleum-based food dyes by the end of 2026, in addition to banning numerous other color additives.
The CEOs of both PepsiCo and Tyson Foods have said they will be ahead of schedule on such changes.
Ramon Laguarta, the head of PepsiCo, said on a recent conference call that he wants his company to lead the way on ridding products of artificial food dyes. PepsiCo makes drinks like Pepsi, Mountain Dew, and Gatorade, and owns the Frito-Lay brand, which makes Doritos, Lay&#8217;s, and Sun Chips, to name only a few popular products.
Specifically, brands like Lay’s and Tostitos will be rid of artificial colors by the end of 2025 &#8212; a year ahead of Kennedy&#8217;s planned phase-out.
“We’ve been leading the transformation of the industry now for a long time on sodium reduction, sugar reduction and better fats,” Laguarta said on the call, Food Business News <a href="https://www.foodbusinessnews.net/articles/28167-pepsico-to-accelerate-phaseout-of-artificial-ingredients" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
&#8220;When we talk about the US food business, 60%-plus of our (portfolio) today doesn’t have any artificial colors, so we’re undergoing that transition,” he added. “For example, brands like Lay’s will be out of artificial colors by the end of this year, and the same with Tostitos — some of our big brands. So we’re well underway.”
Laguarta also said he stood by the safety of all PepsiCo products as they are now, but acknowledged that this shift to more natural ingredients is what consumers are asking for. In the next couple of years, all PepsiCo products will have natural colors, or, at the least, options for natural colors so the consumer can choose, Laguarta said. 
“Our products are very safe, and there’s nothing to worry about. But we understand that there’s probably going to be a consumer demand for more natural ingredients, and we’re going to be accelerating that transition,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Ideally, we can do this in a very pragmatic, orchestrated way as an industry and not create unnecessary panic or chaos.&#8221;
“But we’ll lead that transition, and in the next couple of years, we’ll have migrated all the portfolio into natural colors or at least provide the consumer with natural color options,&#8221; the CEO added. &#8220;And every consumer will have the opportunity to choose what they prefer. So that’s the journey we’re undergoing.”
Donnie King, the CEO of Tyson Foods, which makes a number of chicken products and frozen foods, said the company will eliminate synthetic dyes from its products by the end of this month. 
&#8220;Just 13 days after [HHS] and the [FDA] announced plans to phase out petroleum-based synthetic dyes from the nation’s food supply, Tyson Foods today reported it will eliminate these dyes by the end of May,&#8221; Secretary Kennedy celebrated on X. &#8220;I look forward to seeing more companies follow suit and put the health of Americans first. Topline: The United States and India are reportedly nearing a trade deal. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump met with top CEOs to address their concerns about the trade war.
Shortly after unveiling his “Liberation Day” tariffs, Trump offered a 90-day pause on his proposed tariff hikes to most of America’s trading partners, with the notable exception of China. A baseline rate of 10% is currently being applied to most imports in the meantime. According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, the administration is set to meet with nearly three dozen countries this week to negotiate more favorable terms.
Vice President JD Vance visited India for four days and met with top government officials, including Prime Minister Modi. Last year, trade between the two countries was nearly $130 billion. U.S. imports from India exceeded exports by about $45 billion last year, which is significant since Trump has made it clear that reducing the trade deficit is a key goal of his tariff policy. Negotiations appear to be going well, but if Trump and Modi don’t make a deal, the tariff rate on Indian goods could jump to 26%.
“President Trump and Prime Minister Modi announced in February that our countries aim to more than double our bilateral trade to $500 billion by the end of the decade,” Vance <a href="https://x.com/VP/status/1914664240763257219">said</a> on Tuesday. “Both of our governments are hard at work on a trade agreement built on shared priorities like creating new jobs, building durable supply chains, and achieving prosperity for our workers. In our meeting yesterday, Prime Minister Modi and I made very good progress on all of those points, and we were especially excited to formally announce that America and India have officially finalized the terms of reference for the trade negotiation.”
In general, the Trump administration appears to be dialing back its earlier, maximalist stance on tariffs. On Monday, the CEOs of Walmart, Target, and Home Depot met with the president to air concerns about trade and tariffs. CNBC also reported that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent met with top investors on Tuesday about trade with China. Bessent <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/04/22/bessent-trump-tariffs-china-deescalate.html">reportedly</a> said that he expects “there will be a de-escalation” in the “very near future.” He added that “no one thinks the current status quo is sustainable.”
<h2>Rubio Proposes Sweeping Cuts To State Department</h2>

Topline: Secretary of State Marco Rubio just announced a sweeping overhaul of the U.S. State Department, aiming to streamline operations and align diplomacy with the Trump administration’s “America First” agenda. The plan includes significant staff cuts and the closure of numerous offices.
Rubio is not being shy in billing this as an aggressive reform plan. In a department-wide email, he called the State Department “bloated” and “beholden to radical political ideology.” Because of this, he aims to reduce the agency’s U.S.-based staff by 15% and reduce the number of offices from 734 to 602.
“Secretary Rubio is announcing a comprehensive reorganization plan that will bring the department into the 21st century,” State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce told the press on Tuesday. “Redundant offices will be removed, and nonstatutory programs that are misaligned with America&#8217;s core national interests will cease to exist.”
There’s also one addition in this plan — Rubio proposes a new Bureau of Emerging Threats that will focus on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
None of these proposed cuts have gone into effect just yet &#8212; Deputy Secretary of State Chris Landau said an internal working group will develop “thoughtful plans” by July 1. But some of these changes may require congressional approval.  A preliminary budget proposal from the White House Office of Management and Budget that bolsters Rubio’s plan by cutting the State Department’s funding by 50% isn’t likely to pass Congress.
The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, which Rubio has criticized for promoting “left-wing agendas” in countries like Poland and Hungary, is currently on the chopping block, as is the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, which allegedly funneled taxpayer dollars to NGOs that facilitated mass migration, including at the U.S. southern border. Rubio said in a new State Department Substack that these bureaus have been misused to push policies that are misaligned with national priorities. He says that for the sake of efficiency, the goal is to refocus diplomacy on “great power competition” and consolidate region-specific functions into regional bureaus.
Some analysts are saying this is going to alienate career diplomats, and Democrats are saying these moves will diminish U.S. influence abroad. But apparently, some are breathing sighs of relief because they were expecting even deeper cuts after a draft executive order circulated last weekend. That document proposed slashing entire bureaus like African Affairs and closing embassies across sub-Saharan Africa. But Rubio says that was “fake news.”

Topline: Consumers could soon see relief on egg prices while markets attempt to calibrate for Trump’s trade policies.
Markets have been remarkably volatile amid uncertainty over ongoing trade negotiations — the DOW plummeted on Monday, but spiked again on Tuesday. The International Monetary Fund warned on Tuesday that the global economy could be hit hard by tariffs and slashed its forecast for U.S. growth to 1.8% this year, down from the 2.8% it had predicted in January, but it acknowledged the tariff situation is unpredictable due to the Trump administration using them as a negotiating tactic.
Meanwhile, Americans can expect some relief on everyday expenses. Daily Wire White House correspondent Mary Margaret Olohan spoke to Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins about the Trump administration’s ongoing effort to lower the price of eggs.
“A couple months ago, we rolled out our big five point egg plan,” Rollins said. “At the time the eggs were, I think, the highest they&#8217;ve been, perhaps since President Trump left office. I know under Joe Biden, they increased 237%. While the cost of groceries has skyrocketed, nothing has skyrocketed more than eggs … since [Trump took office], the cost of wholesale eggs has gone down 58%.”
Rollins also told us that part of Trump’s plan with tariffs is to correct the agricultural trade deficit that widened under Biden. “There&#8217;s now a $50 billion agriculture trade deficit &#8230; that was zero four years ago. So that means that all of that product &#8212; sorghum, wheat, corn, beef that we were moving out and Trump won, somehow that market disappeared and we&#8217;ve got to get it back.”

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. plans to direct food manufacturers to phase out eight petroleum-based food dyes from cereals, sports drinks, and other grocery staples by the end of 2026.
The directive, expected to be announced in full detail on Tuesday, affects hundreds of thousands of grocery store items containing eight petroleum-based dyes, which health experts have long criticized for potentially causing hyperactivity and other neurobehavioral problems in children, according to a New York Times report.
The eight dyes being targeted <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/21/dining/rfk-jr-food-dyes.html">include</a> Red No. 40, Yellow No. 5, Yellow No. 6, Blue No. 1, Blue No. 2, Green No. 3, Red No. 3, and Orange B, according to details provided by HHS officials to the Times.
Food industry experts estimate that the reformulation costs could reach into the billions, though many companies have already developed alternative formulations for their European and Canadian products.
FDA Commissioner Martin Makary signaled the move as being in line with President Trump&#8217;s &#8220;Make America Healthy Again&#8221; initiative, stating last week to the Times, “My feeling is, why gamble with the health of our children?”
“We have some data points. We have some observational studies. We believe that these artificial food chemicals are implicated,” he said. “My feeling is why not err on the side of safety? Why say, ‘Let’s just take the risk because the vibrance of the colors is so appealing, it’s worth it.’&#8221;
Health activist Vani Hari, <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/kraft-removing-artificial-dyes-preservatives-from-mac-cheese/">credited</a> for pressuring Kraft to remove artificial colors from its macaroni and cheese products in 2015, noted, &#8220;We never had a president ever talk about these issues in this way. You are watching an entire population who largely never knew about these issues hear about them for the first time.&#8221;
Products manufactured for European and Canadian markets already use natural color substitutes like blueberries and carrots instead of artificial dyes, while American versions of the same products contain Red No. 40, Yellow No. 5, and Blue No. 1.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton recently opened an investigation into Kellogg for marketing its products as &#8220;healthy&#8221; despite containing petroleum-based artificial food colorings that he claimed had been linked to hyperactivity and other health problems.
Some food manufacturers had previously pledged to eliminate artificial ingredients by 2018, promises that largely went unfulfilled. This history of unfulfilled commitments formed part of the basis for Texas Attorney General Paxton&#8217;s recent investigation into Kellogg.
The International Food Additives Council expressed support for a unified federal approach in a statement, saying, &#8220;A unified, federal approach is essential for maintaining a safe and reliable food supply.&#8221;
West Virginia took early action on the issue last month when it banned foods containing most artificial food dyes and two preservatives, citing potential health risks.
These state-level initiatives, coupled with consumer advocacy campaigns, have increasingly pressured major food manufacturers to reformulate products sold in the American market to match the stricter standards already in place abroad.
The initiative gained significant momentum in March when Kennedy summoned executives from major food companies, including PepsiCo, Kellogg, and General Mills, to a Washington meeting, where he made clear that eliminating food dyes was a top priority of the administration.

South Carolina shrimper Craig Reaves on Friday praised President Donald Trump&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-unleashes-liberation-day-tariffs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tariffs</a> on imports to rectify what the president views as a decades-long trade imbalance between the United States and other countries.
Reaves said the seafood industry has been getting crushed for decades by increased imports, and highlighted that these other nations are hurting ecosystems, giving Americans a bad product, and using other unsavory practices. Trump&#8217;s tariffs will give fishermen &#8220;immediate relief&#8221; and the space to rebuild and save the industry, he argued.
&#8220;I am a lifelong shrimper, my dad was a shrimper, so we are generational fishermen, and we have been getting killed by imports, for not just years, but literally decades,&#8221; he said on Fox News. &#8220;We&#8217;ve been suffering for a long, long time, and these tariffs, we believe, are going to give us some immediate relief.&#8221;
The tariffs are &#8220;also bringing attention to our industry, which is dying,&#8221; Reaves continued. &#8220;We have outsourced our whole industry; 94% of the shrimp consumed in the United States are imported.&#8221;
Fox News anchor Sandra Smith noted that the United States has substantially increased how much shrimp is important here since 2014, now totaling 1.6 billion pounds.
&#8220;I think, unfortunately, we have outsourced everything in the United States,&#8221; Reaves responded. &#8220;This is what we have done to the seafood industry, we&#8217;ve outsourced it to Southeast Asia, South America, Ecuador, India.&#8221; Smith noted that 42% of all imported shrimp come from India, and 27% come from Ecuador.
Reaves said that imported shrimp is not better than domestic shrimp, but is less expensive.
&#8220;They are pond raised, farm raised product &#8212; they do not care about the environment in Southeast Asia, they are destroying ecosystems &#8230; they&#8217;re using illegal hormones, forced labor, slave labor &#8212; all these things are documented,&#8221; the fisherman said.
&#8220;So it is absolutely not a good product,&#8221; Reaves said. &#8220;The difference is, it is cheaper, and something we trying to say, &#8216;Good seafood is not cheap; cheap seafood is not good.'&#8221;
Reaves noted that, currently, the domestic shrimp industry does not have the infrastructure to fill the demand from United States citizens, but hopes they&#8217;ll be able to rebuild.
&#8220;The seafood industry, we&#8217;ve been getting destroyed for decades, so we&#8217;ve been living under pressure and pain, and I think this short-term pain is worth it in the end if we can save our industry,&#8221; Reaves said, referring to the likely general coming price increases due to tariffs.
&#8220;Unfortunately, we have outsourced way too much in the United States. We need to bring it home.&#8221;

Egg prices have significantly declined since President Donald Trump took office in January and implemented a five-point plan targeting the key causes of the spike.
Prices for eggs <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/03/28/easter-egg-prices-go-down" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dropped 63%</a> since last month, with the average wholesale price of a dozen large eggs hovering around $3, an Axios <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/03/28/easter-egg-prices-go-down" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> said Friday. On February 21, the average price was $8.15.

In a White House press release sent to The Daily Wire, the administration credited the decline to their recent efforts to combat the avian flu and repopulate the chicken supply. United States Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins laid out their five-point plan on Fox News this past week.
&#8220;Under Joe Biden, egg prices increased 237% &#8212; we never heard anyone in the mainstream media talk about it,&#8221; Rollins opened. &#8220;But the day that Trump gets elected, January 20 &#8212; all of a sudden it&#8217;s his fault that egg prices have increased 237%.&#8221;
The secretary said Trump tasked her to come up with a plan to lower egg prices. &#8220;About a week after I was sworn in, we launched a very significant five-point-plan,&#8221; Rollins outlined. &#8220;It included deregulation to bring costs down for our chicken farmers, it included more quickly repopulating those populations affected by the avian bird flu, it included biosecurity measures, it included importing eggs from other countries for the short-term to get those prices down &#8230; and then the fifth point was significant longterm research on therapeutics, vaccines, culling methods, etc.&#8221;
The secretary added that the market almost immediately reacted when they implemented the plan a month ago. &#8220;The market will react to big, bold plans and being fearless and trying to fix things in a major way, and that&#8217;s what we&#8217;re working to do,&#8221; Rollins said.

DoorDash, the largest food delivery company in the United States, has announced they’re partnering with the &#8220;buy now, pay later&#8221; service provider Klarna. This has led to mixed reactions from social media users mocking the idea of using a payment plan for a meal.
Klarna has been showing up as an option at multiple retailers and is rumored to be on its way to an initial public offering, per <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/business/business-news/klarna-lands-buy-now-pay-later-deal-doordash-notching-new-win-ipo-rcna197265">NBC News</a>. The service provider said in a press release that DoorDash customers will be able to pay in full at checkout, split payments into four interest-free installments, or defer to later dates that match their paydays.
“Our partnership with DoorDash marks an important milestone in Klarna’s expansion into everyday spending categories,” David Sykes, Klarna’s chief commercial officer, said in the release.
Klarna was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Sweden. The company had a 24% increase in revenue last year and brought in $2.8 billion, the outlet noted.
The announcement post has since gone viral on X, earning more than 36 million views &#8212; and almost as many snarky comments.
“DoorDash and Klarna have signed a deal where customers can choose to pay for food deliveries in interest-free installments or deferred options aligned with payday schedules,” the post reads.
“I can’t wait to pay for my taco bowl over the next 52 weeks,” one commenter on X <a href="https://x.com/RorschachStocks/status/1902771877262586291">replied</a>.
“Imagine being in debt over a chicken parm,” another person <a href="https://x.com/actatumonline/status/1902758510917525702">joked</a>.

Kevin Hassett, Director of the National Economic Council, slammed a reporter outside the White House on Thursday who questioned whether the prices of eggs were really falling.
The exchange happened after a reporter asked if he had any updates on a program that he and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins instituted to help solve the problem that was caused by an outbreak in bird flu late last year.
&#8220;Yeah, they&#8217;re down $2.50 a dozen,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And I went to the grocery store, as I do every Saturday, because I&#8217;m the one who likes to shop at my family because I get to see all the prices. And the egg prices in D.C. were actually down quite a bit more than $2.50 a dozen.&#8221;
When asked how he knows that the Trump administration&#8217;s efforts were responsible for the decline, Hassett responded: &#8220;Because if you look at the data on the culling of chickens, it&#8217;s basically stopped, starting on January 20th, there&#8217;s a chart we can show you on that.&#8221;
&#8220;But it&#8217;s astonishing how many chickens were killed in the last two months of the Biden administration,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And by having a more prudent Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, has done more prudent policy about how to manage the disease, then we got lower egg prices and healthier chickens, because it&#8217;s &#8212; they&#8217;re not being culled in millions.&#8221;
&#8220;Remember, it was more than 100 million chickens were culled, and they spent $2 billion killing the chickens,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And if you look at what&#8217;s happened to the culling since President Trump took office, it&#8217;s gone almost to zero.&#8221;
Another reporter interrupted and tried to ask Hassett a &#8220;gotcha&#8221; question.
&#8220;But what about the wholesale prices of eggs versus what consumers are actually paying?&#8221; the reporter asked. &#8220;We&#8217;ve seen wholesale prices go down, but it&#8217;s not always reflected in the grocery stores.&#8221;
&#8220;For the latest egg prices, go to the grocery store,&#8221; Hassett responded. &#8220;Like I literally just went to the grocery and bought the same eggs I always buy, and they were way down.&#8221;

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is continuing to advance his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-the-make-america-healthy-again-commission-is-already-impacting-the-food-industry" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;Make America Healthy Again&#8221; movement</a> this coming week, reportedly meeting with top executives from major food brands.
Kennedy, as highlighted by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-the-make-america-healthy-again-commission-is-already-impacting-the-food-industry" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire</a>, has already impacted the food industry and made several vaccine-related moves as HHS secretary.
RFK is expected to meet with executives from General Mills, PepsiCo, and other big-name brands on Monday, according to a <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/03/08/rfk-jr-food-industry-meeting-00219631" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from Politico. The meeting was apparently encouraged by the White House &#8212; President Donald Trump reportedly wants department heads to meet with leaders from the industries they oversee.
Kennedy has voiced concerns about seed oils, dyes, preservatives, and other ingredients often found in processed foods and sugary drinks. Reports suggest food companies will be on board with some related changes, though it&#8217;s expected there will be a lot of pushback over axing seed oils, since they are so inexpensive and versatile.
Additionally, there&#8217;s been a stronger push from state reps and the federal government to limit sugary and highly processed food and drink options for government food benefits, called SNAP. Specifically, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R), as well as lawmakers in Arizona, Indiana, Kansas, Texas, and Wyoming, are looking to restrict SNAP.
U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins has also previously said she&#8217;s working with RFK to advance the MAHA movement, and specifically mentioned restricting SNAP. Though, according to The Wall Street Journal, President Trump is skeptical of restrictions or bans since they are typically unpopular with the public. And, notably, Trump himself is an <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/01/21/diet-coke-button-donald-trump/77856559007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">avid lover of Diet Coke</a>. 
On vaccines, Kennedy has <a href="https://apnews.com/article/childhood-vaccines-schedule-kennedy-trump-hhs-4d5e6c52c602f5edbcd837748605e9d0">indicated</a> that he’ll effectively be reviewing the childhood vaccination schedule. As the head of the &#8220;MAHA Commission,&#8221; Kennedy said he’ll investigate vaccines, as well as pesticides, food additives, microplastics, and antidepressants, to see if they have contributed to a rise of chronic illness.
The HHS secretary has also halted the CDC’s “<a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/shots-health-news/2025/02/19/nx-s1-5302906/cdc-flu-vaccine-campaign-terminated">Wild to Mild</a>” campaign <a href="https://www.statnews.com/2025/02/26/rfk-jr-vaccines-informed-consent-cdc-messaging-vaccinations/#:~:text=Health%20and%20Human%20Services%20Secretary,campaign%20promoting%20the%20flu%20vaccine.">promoting</a> the flu vaccine. Kennedy wants advertisements going forward to promote the idea of “informed consent” in vaccine decision-making, which would include giving people <a href="https://www.statnews.com/2025/02/26/rfk-jr-vaccines-informed-consent-cdc-messaging-vaccinations/#:~:text=Health%20and%20Human%20Services%20Secretary,campaign%20promoting%20the%20flu%20vaccine.">information</a> about the adverse events associated with vaccines.
Additionally, citing conflicts of interest, RFK is preparing to <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/joshuacohen/2025/03/01/rfk-jr-readies-cdc-for-changes-in-vaccine-policies/">remove</a> several members of the external committee that advises the FDA and CDC on vaccine approvals and other key public health decisions. Recommendations from that committee, known as ACIP, are almost always followed by HHS and could impact the childhood vaccination schedule. Kennedy has <a href="https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/adult-non-flu-vaccines/scheduled-meeting-cdc-vaccine-advisers-postponed#:~:text=The%20postponing%20of%20the%20ACIP,committees%20likely%20to%20be%20targeted." target="_blank" rel="noopener">postponed</a> ACIP’s first panel to &#8220;accommodate public comment in advance of the meeting.”

Exorbitantly priced rare Pokémon cards are nothing new, but this is certainly the first time a snack food vaguely resembling one has sold for five figures. 
Images of a 3-inch-long Flamin&#8217; Hot Cheeto that looks surprisingly like the character Charizard went viral online in 2024. The uniquely shaped snack, called &#8220;Cheetozard,&#8221; was later put up for sale through Goldin Auctions, which led to a bidding war among collectors.
Charizard was part of the first generation of Pokémon released in the 1990s. The character is one of the most popular of the Pokémon lineup, second only to Pikachu.
An opening bid of $350 was quickly surpassed. In the end, a total of 60 bids drove the purchase price up to $87,840, which included $72,000 for the item and several thousand more for a buyer’s premium.
Cheetozard officially sold on Sunday, March 2, per <a href="https://ew.com/charizard-cheeto-sold-auction-88k-pokemon-11691267">Entertainment Weekly</a>.
The auction site described the item as being &#8220;affixed to a customized Pokémon card and encapsulated in a clear card storage box&#8221; for display and preservation. 
&#8220;It was initially discovered and preserved sometime between 2018-2022 by 1st &amp; Goal Collectibles,&#8221; the description says. &#8220;The Cheeto surged in popularity on social media platforms in late 2024.&#8221; 
The surprising snack food was shared in an Instagram video posted by 1st and Goal Collectibles, a store in Georgia.
