The abortion pill is many times more dangerous than the FDA claimed, with more than one in 10 women suffering serious complications, a new study found.
About 11.2% of 154,554 women experienced a &#8220;serious adverse event&#8221; after taking the mifepristone abortion pill in 2023, according to new <a href="https://www.ffroa.com/chemical-abortion-research/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">research</a> commissioned by the Foundation for the Restoration of America and released Monday.
That works out to about 17,310 women who suffered serious adverse events, which can include hemorrhaging, needing a blood transfusion, an emergency room visit, and even deadly conditions like sepsis.
This is about 22 times higher than what the FDA put on its label for the brand Mifeprex in 2023 — the FDA <a href="https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2023/020687Orig1s025Lbl.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cited</a> clinical studies saying less than 0.5% of women suffered &#8220;serious adverse reactions&#8221; to mifepristone.
The two-pill chemical abortion regimen, mifepristone usually followed by misoprostol, aims to end the life of the unborn baby and expel it from the woman&#8217;s uterus. However, the drugs sometimes fail to expel all the fetal tissue, which can cause life-threatening complications.
&#8220;This drastic difference between the disclosed risk and the actual risk to patients undermines informed consent and endangers the lives of pregnant women,&#8221; the researchers wrote, adding that policymakers and regulators should take action.
&#8220;This is much different than the lie that women have been told that these drugs are safer than Tylenol,&#8221; Dr. Christina Francis, a board-certified OBGYN who has been in practice for two decades, told The Daily Wire.
Plus, the research only analyzed data from insurance claims for government insurance like Medicare and Medicaid between 2017 and 2023, so the total number of women who suffered serious complications is likely even higher.
Over those six years, the number of chemical abortions jumped dramatically from less than 100,000 to over 150,000 a year, likely due to the drug&#8217;s increased availability online, the insurance claims data show.
Medication abortions are far more common than surgical abortions. Medication abortions made up 63% of all abortions in 2023, up from 31% in 2014, <a href="https://www.guttmacher.org/2024/03/medication-abortion-accounted-63-all-us-abortions-2023-increase-53-2020" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute.
The abortion pill is likely the main factor driving up the country&#8217;s total number of abortions in recent years, even in the wake of the Supreme Court&#8217;s decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade.
Abortion advocates have argued that the abortion pill should be more available to order online now that some Republican-led states ban abortion.
A few months before Roe vs. Wade was overturned, the FDA scrapped the requirement that women must obtain abortion pills in person from a health provider, allowing them to obtain them online through the mail.
Afterward, Francis, the pro-life OBGYN, said one emergency doctor pulled her aside and asked, &#8220;What has changed because we&#8217;re seeing so many more women come in with these complications.&#8221;
Mifepristone was originally approved by the FDA in 2000.
&#8220;This bombshell report is further evidence that our government uses phony data and politicized science to lie to its people. In this case, those lies further political ideologies rather than the health, safety, and well-being of women and children,&#8221; Doug Truax, founder of the Foundation for the Restoration of America, which commissioned the study, told The Daily Wire.
&#8220;If you had any other drug that was kind of similar in terms of the magnitude of what this thing does, anywhere north of 2% and they&#8217;d shut it down,&#8221; Truax said. 
&#8220;They&#8217;re just hell bent on just increasing the amount of abortions.&#8221;

The Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) top vaccine official, who played a key role in Operation Warp Speed, has reportedly been pushed out of the agency.
Dr. Peter Marks, who served as the Director of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) at the FDA, submitted his resignation letter on Friday, after he was informed he would be fired if he didn&#8217;t resign, sources <a href="https://www.wsj.com/politics/top-vaccine-official-out-at-fda-f39a5a16" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> The Wall Street Journal.

“It has become clear that truth and transparency are not desired by the Secretary, but rather he wishes subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies,” Marks said in his resignation letter, referring to Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
“My hope is that during the coming years, the unprecedented assault on scientific truth that has adversely impacted public health in our nation comes to an end,” Marks added.
An unnamed HHS official suggested Marks was pushed out because he refused to get on-board with Kennedy&#8217;s agenda. “If Peter Marks does not want to get behind restoring science to its golden standard and promoting radical transparency, then he has no place at FDA under the strong leadership of Secretary Kennedy,” the official told the Journal.
Marks was with the FDA since the Obama administration, starting in 2012. During his tenure, he oversaw vaccines, biotech drugs, and blood products, and helped ensure that vaccines were effective and safe. His resignation takes effect on April 5.
The ouster follows numerous vaccine-related moves from RFK. As previously reported by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mahas-latest-wins-on-fluoride-food-and-vaccines" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire</a>, under Kennedy&#8217;s leadership, the National Institutes of <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/03/10/vaccines-nih-rfk-research-canceled/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Health</a> will stop spending money to find out why Americans are hesitant to take vaccines. Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is studying whether there is any link between vaccinations and the rise in autism.
Kennedy announced this week that he’s restructuring HHS and terminating tens of thousands of employees. “What I found when I came to HHS, is really a sprawling bureaucracy. We have over 100 communications departments — we should have one. We have 40 IT departments, 40 procurement departments, dozens of HR departments,” Kennedy <a href="https://x.com/michaeljknowles/status/1905403551024554014" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told Daily Wire host Michael Knowles</a>. “And that is where we’re doing the cuts. We’re going down from 82,000 personnel to 62,000.”
“We’re keeping the scientists, we’re keeping the front-line providers,” he added. “We trying to do our best, not only to serve as stewards of the taxpayer money, but also to make the agency more efficient.”

Top FDA Official, Who Played Key Role In COVID Vax, Reportedly Forced Out

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has unveiled a new tool that allows people to look up chemical contaminants in foods from a large database.
The database was created to give Americans more transparency and &#8220;modernize&#8221; food chemical safety, a press release from Health and Human Services (HHS) said.
“HHS is committed to radical transparency to give Americans authentic, informed consent about what they are eating,” Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said in a <a href="https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/hhs-fda-announce-chemical-contaminants-transparency-tool-foods">statement</a> Thursday. “This new Chemical Contaminants Transparency Tool is a critical step for industry to Make America Healthy Again.”
The tool, which can be <a href="https://www.hfpappexternal.fda.gov/scripts/fdcc/index.cfm?set=contaminant-levels" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accessed here</a>, includes tolerances, action levels, guidance levels, derived intervention levels, recommended maximum levels, and advisory levels of contaminants. Some of the contaminants included in the database are Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, or DDT, a synthetic pesticide; Chlordane, an organochlorine pesticide; and Aldrin and Dieldrin, which are both synthetic chemicals in the insecticide family.
“Ideally there would be no contaminants in our food supply, but chemical contaminants may occur in food when they are present in the growing, storage or processing environments,” acting FDA Commissioner Sara Brenner said. “Because many of the most nutritious foods can also contain contaminants, consumers should eat a variety of nutrient-dense foods across and within the main food groups of vegetables, fruits, grains, dairy and protein to help protect from possible exposure effects.”
The agency signaled that, with Kennedy at the helm, the FDA would continue to promote &#8220;radical transparency to make sure all Americans know what is in their food and Make America Healthy Again.&#8221;
In another related move, RFK Jr. has <a href="https://www.hhs.gov/about/news/operation-stork-speed.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> &#8220;Operation Stork Speed&#8221; to help ensure safety and quality in the domestic baby formula supply.
“The FDA will use all resources and authorities at its disposal to make sure infant formula products are safe and wholesome for the families and children who rely on them,” Kennedy said. “Helping each family and child get off to the right start from birth is critical to our pursuit to Make America Healthy Again.”
The FDA announced the following actions related to the operation:

<li>Starting the nutrient review required by law by issuing a Request for Information in the coming months to start the first comprehensive update and review of infant formula nutrients by the FDA since 1998</li>
<li>Increasing testing for heavy metals and other contaminants in infant formula and other foods children consume</li>
<li>Extending the personal importation policy</li>
<li>Encouraging companies to work with the FDA on any questions regarding increased transparency and clearer labeling</li>
<li>Communicating regularly with consumers and industry stakeholders as significant developments occur to ensure transparency, including information regarding nutrients and health outcomes</li>
<li>Collaborating with the National Institutes of Health and other scientific bodies to address priority scientific research gaps regarding short- and long-term health outcomes associated with formula feeding in infancy and childhood across the lifespan</li>

As the Senate considers Dr. Martin Makary’s nomination to lead the Food and Drug Administration, the safety of all Americans — especially women and children — must be a top priority. For far too long, the FDA has been grossly negligent regarding essential safeguards surrounding the abortion-inducing drug mifepristone. Dr. Makary’s initial hearing provided a glimpse into his commitment to <a href="https://grabien.com/file/getmedia?id=2831540&amp;key=756f0397187f6b49fdaab04e60406327&amp;userid=17147">data-based approaches</a> to providing the best care for our patients. I’m hopeful that this expected confirmation will stand as a first step to the FDA reprioritizing the health and safety of women and children.
Despite the common refrain that abortion should be a decision &#8220;between a woman and her doctor,&#8221; doctors are too often left out of the picture by what has become a highly politicized and aggressively pro-abortion FDA. To the detriment of women’s health and safety, the FDA has for too long made women’s health a pawn in abortion politics by promoting drug-induced abortions as safe and recklessly ignoring the necessity of proper medical oversight.
Due in large part to the Biden-era FDA’s gutting of the requirements necessary to take mifepristone, women today are denied crucial medical care in life’s most vulnerable moments. In fact, the FDA has recklessly removed its requirements that women meet with a doctor before taking abortion drugs, thereby denying women the chance to be screened for life-threatening conditions like ectopic pregnancy or to confirm how far along she is in her pregnancy. 
My 20 years of caring for women as an OB/GYN have affirmed what the medical literature <a href="https://www.acog.org/clinical/clinical-guidance/committee-opinion/articles/2017/05/methods-for-estimating-the-due-date">shows</a> — the only way to ensure accurate dating of a pregnancy is to examine a woman in person, ideally with an ultrasound. This is crucial, because an error of just a couple of weeks could mean a significant increase in risk for the woman if she takes these drugs.
To be clear, I would never recommend dangerous drug-induced or surgical abortions to any woman or teen who comes to me for care, especially when so many life-affirming alternatives exist to effectively care for both mother and child. 
The FDA also shamefully fails to require any follow-up visits, even though their own label on mifepristone states roughly one in 25 women who take it will end up in the emergency room. Selling women the lie that these drugs are safe, especially without the benefit of ongoing care with a doctor, is unethical.
With the urging of abortion advocates, and without appropriate evidence to support it, the FDA has also allowed abortion drugs to be shipped to women by mail, delivered straight to their doorsteps. This move not only puts women in danger of taking <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/08/01/the-web-is-home-to-an-illegal-bazaar-for-abortion-pills-the-fda-is-ill-equipped-to-stop-it-00048802">counterfeit drugs</a> that could cause them harm, but it also makes them <a href="https://lozierinstitute.org/hidden-epidemic-nearly-70-of-abortions-are-coerced-unwanted-or-inconsistent-with-womens-preferences/">vulnerable to coercion and abuse.</a>
The new FDA leadership must prioritize women’s health by implementing key reforms. 
First, they should reinstate the requirement for in-person doctor visits so women can receive individualized counseling and fully informed consent, along with being adequately screened for potentially life-threatening conditions. It&#8217;s a simple but essential principle of medical ethics that patients have a right to informed consent before taking these high-risk drugs — something that can only happen with an in-person visit and individualized counseling. Even the pro-abortion American College of OB/GYNs (ACOG) <a href="https://www.acog.org/clinical/clinical-guidance/committee-opinion/articles/2021/02/informed-consent-and-shared-decision-making-in-obstetrics-and-gynecology" target="_blank" rel="noopener">notes</a> that an adequate informed consent process is one where patients are “free to ask questions” and make a choice about their care, including refusing treatment. It’s impossible to have this tailored conversation when abortion drugs are dispensed online with no in-person interaction with a medical professional.
Next, should a woman choose to pursue a drug-induced abortion, the FDA should restore the seven week gestational age limit (currently 10 weeks) to decrease the risks associated with these drugs, as well as require abortion providers to see a woman for a follow&#8211;up visit to ensure her abortion is complete and to evaluate for and treat any complications she might be experiencing. This would be consistent with what was originally recommended when the drug entered the market and would reduce risks to women. With these protections in place, our federal leaders, regardless of their personal position on induced abortion, can at the very least reduce the risk of women dying from complications of abortion drugs and ensure that all women are receiving fully informed consent before taking them.
Reinstating the FDA’s original safety regulations for mifepristone is an essential first step toward protecting the health and safety of women across the nation. Women and girls seeking an induced abortion are often in a vulnerable and uncertain time of their lives. Rather than ensuring that they receive accurate information and ongoing medical care, the FDA has sold them a lie and denied them appropriate care. We all should work together to bring this negligence to an end.
Women and girls deserve the best medical care possible that is individualized and evidence-based. I&#8217;m hopeful that with Dr. Makary&#8217;s leadership the FDA will restore safety as the priority for American women and girls. Our patients deserve nothing less.

WASHINGTON—The Food and Drug Administration&#8217;s new chief counsel resigned from her position &#8220;effective immediately&#8221; after just two days on the job amid scrutiny of her record on abortion and vaccines, the agency said Thursday morning.
The resignation was due in large part to pushback from Republican Sen. Josh Hawley, a White House source familiar with the matter told The Daily Wire. The Missouri senator publicized concerns about Hilary Perkins&#8217; past defense of abortion drugs, and a brief she had signed onto expressing support for President Joe Biden&#8217;s COVID vaccine mandates, which said objections to COVID mandates &#8220;verge on the conspiratorial.&#8221;
A source familiar with the conversations between Hawley and the White House told The Daily Wire that the senator said last night he would vote no on Makary if Perkins didn’t resign. Perkins&#8217; resignation came the next morning.
&#8220;A Biden abortion lawyer who also defended Biden’s offensive and outrageous vaccine mandates has no business working in the Trump Administration,&#8221; Hawley told The Daily Wire. &#8220;I’m glad to see she was removed from that position.&#8221;
&#8220;It’s critical that the Trump Administration is staffed with individuals who are committed to carrying out President Trump’s pro-life agenda,&#8221; he added. &#8220;That’s true for this position and a whole host of others.&#8221;
Multiple publications reported this week that Perkins, a former Justice Department lawyer, was joining the FDA as its chief counsel at the express request of Marty Makary, the president&#8217;s nominee to lead the FDA. Perkins had even added the new role to her LinkedIn profile, which stated she was the FDA&#8217;s chief counsel as of Wednesday evening.

Her tenure was short lived, however. Both the FDA and the Department of Health and Human Services deal heavily with how the United States handles abortions, unborn babies, abortion drugs, and more — meaning that pro-life lawmakers and activists have a vested interest in keeping an eye on FDA and HHS appointments. Hawley grilled Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during his nomination process to ensure that Kennedy would not push abortion policy, and would protect life.
Just after midnight last night, the Missouri senator also shared that his team had dug up a brief dealing with the vaccine mandates, one that Perkins had signed onto.
That brief praised Biden&#8217;s orders mandating vaccines, saying they “strike a careful balance between the federal government&#8217;s compelling interest in stemming the spread of COVID-19 and certain individuals&#8217; medical or religious reasons for declining vaccination.”
Hawley had already aired his concerns about Perkins&#8217; record on abortion, saying in an <a href="https://x.com/HawleyMO/status/1900006518533087268">X</a> post that he couldn&#8217;t &#8220;understand why Marty Makary would want someone who used the government to IMPOSE vaccines on millions of Americans and served as a Biden abortion lawyer to be his chief counsel.&#8221;
&#8220;It calls into question his judgment,&#8221; the senator said. &#8220;These positions are &#8211; obviously &#8211; totally out of line with President Trump.&#8221;
A source close to the senator told The Daily Wire that Hawley is concerned that the Biden administration&#8217;s mifepristone rules completely undermine the Supreme Court&#8217;s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women&#8217;s Health Organization, the decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, and that the senator is worried the administration is waffling on handling the matter of abortion drugs.
Neither the FDA nor HHS responded to The Daily Wire&#8217;s requests for comment on Perkins and her record on Wednesday evening. On Thursday morning, the FDA&#8217;s <a href="https://x.com/US_FDA/status/1900155547237732850">X</a> account announced her departure: &#8220;Hilary K. Perkins has resigned from her position as Chief Counsel of FDA, effectively immediately.&#8221;
A source familiar with her promotion and resignation told The Daily Wire that Perkins was a career Justice Department attorney whom Makary viewed as reliable and competent. Markary passed a key committee vote on Thursday morning, and now heads to a full Senate vote on his nomination to head FDA.
&#8220;I am pleased to see that Dr. Makary has reconsidered his decision to make this Biden abortion lawyer the top counsel at FDA,&#8221; Hawley said after the resignation was announced.

North Carolina Republican Congressman Mark Harris introduced legislation on Friday that would block doctors from sending abortion drugs through the mail, he told The Daily Wire.
Harris put forward the “Teleabortion Prevention Act” to block doctors from providing women with drugs to end the life of their unborn child without conducting a physical exam or being physically present. The <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2025/01/HARRNC_004_xml.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">legislation</a>, introduced as pro-lifers gather in Washington, D.C., for the March for Life, would mean doctors could face up to two years in prison if they send an abortion drug through the mail for a “self-managed” abortion. 
“In the country, getting an abortion is as easy as walking to your mailbox. What this bill seeks to do is to protect women from that and it really just gives them an opportunity to be in a position to know what they’re doing,” Harris, a freshman representative, told The Daily Wire. 
He said the bill would block the mailing of abortion drugs across the country. Chemical abortions are now estimated to make up over half of all abortions and have only increased since Roe v. Wade was overturned. 
“If you’re in New York and you&#8217;re mailing those pills into Texas, then that’s going to be criminal. That’s going to be a problem,” Harris added, saying that the bill was in part motivated by the FDA loosening its guidelines on mailing abortion drugs in January. 
The legislation would prevent doctors across the country from giving abortion pills to women “without physically examining the patient,” &#8220;without being physically present at the location of the chemical abortion,” and “without scheduling a follow-up visit.” Doctors who violate the law could be fined $1,000 and subject to two years in prison. 
The legislation would not allow women to be prosecuted over abortion and would not impact ectopic pregnancies. 
“I believe God is the creator of life. I believe He’s the one that gives life and I think that we are bound to protect it in every way we can,” Harris told The Daily Wire. “When we see a life taken in the womb we are seeing the place that should be the safest place anyone would ever be on the face of the earth, and that’s in her mother&#8217;s womb, absolutely invaded and destroyed.”

Co-sponsors of the legislation include Republican Reps. Andrew Clyde (GA), Robert Aderholt (AL), Daniel Webster (FL), Brandon Gill (TX), Mary Miller (IL), and Michael Cloud (TX). Conservative organizations like SBA Pro-Life America, Heritage Action, March for Life Action, and the Family Research Council are also backing the legislation.

The Food and Drug Administration finally banned Red Dye No. 3 for food, drinks, and dietary supplements on Wednesday. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on Wednesday that Red Dye No. 3, a synthetic dye linked to cancer in animals, will be banned in food and drinks in the U.S.
Red Dye No. 3 is used in thousands of foods, such as cereal and candy, and drinks, such as carbonated beverages and cocktails. Manufacturers will have until January 15, 2027, to modify food and beverage products and remove Red Dye No. 3, while companies that produce dietary supplements will have until January 15, 2028, NBC News <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/fda-bans-red-no-3-artificial-coloring-beverages-candy-rcna185479" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
The dye, made from petroleum and approved for use in foods in 1907, has been banned in Australia, Japan, and many European countries. The U.S. also banned Red Dye No. 3 in cosmetics in 1990 after a study conducted in the 1980s showed that rats exposed to Red Dye No. 3 in high doses developed tumors. Some food and drink manufacturers have already begun removing Red Dye No. 3, among other dyes, according to NBC News.
&#8220;The FDA cannot authorize a food additive or color additive if it has been found to cause cancer in humans or animals,&#8221; said Jim Jones, the FDA&#8217;s deputy director for human foods. &#8220;Evidence shows cancer in laboratory male rats exposed to high levels of FD&amp;C Red No. 3.&#8221;
The FDA&#8217;s move to ban Red Dye No. 3 comes less than a week before the Trump administration takes over. Health and Human Services Secretary nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has vowed to pressure large companies to remove dyes from foods.
“The first thing I’d do isn’t going to cost you anything because I’m just gonna tell the cereal companies, take all the dyes out of their food,” Kennedy <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-11-04/kellogg-general-mills-face-pressure-to-ban-artificial-food-dyes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> while campaigning for Trump.
Kennedy, who has promised to &#8220;Make America Healthy Again,&#8221; needs to be confirmed by the Senate. His confirmation hearing date has not been announced.

Kennedy&#8217;s comments on food dyes suggest the incoming Trump administration would go beyond merely banning Red Dye No. 3 and also prevent other dyes, such as Red 40 and Blue 1, from being used in food and drinks in the U.S. Last year, California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a law banning six dyes from food that is served at public schools in the state, Bloomberg <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-11-04/kellogg-general-mills-face-pressure-to-ban-artificial-food-dyes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. A <a href="https://publichealth.berkeley.edu/news-media/research-highlights/new-report-shows-artificial-food-coloring-causes-hyperactivity-in-some-kids" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> released by California in 2021 showed that &#8220;consumption of synthetic food dyes can cause hyperactivity and other neurobehavioral issues for some children.&#8221;
Food safety advocates applauded the FDA&#8217;s decision on Wednesday, but some said the ban should have come much sooner. Dr. Peter Lurie, president of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, told NBC News that the decision &#8220;removes an unnecessary hazard from the American food supply, and we welcome that action, even though it should have occurred more than three decades ago.&#8221;

The Food and Drug Administration (<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/fda">FDA</a>) is reviewing a petition to ban red dye No. 3, a common additive in beverages, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/food">snacks</a>, cereals, and candies.
Jim Jones, the FDA’s deputy commissioner for human foods, said it’s time to reevaluate the department’s determination that the artificial coloring is safe for human consumption as more than a decade has passed since that decision was made.
“With red 3, we have a petition in front of us to revoke the authorization board, and we’re hopeful that in the next few weeks, we’ll be acting on that petition,” Jones told a health committee last Thursday, per <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2024/12/09/fda-red-food-dye-3-ban/76857859007/">USA Today</a>.
House Energy and Commerce Committee ranking member Frank Pallone Jr. (D-NJ) said he supported a ban on red dye No. 3. The dye is made from petroleum and is used to give food and drinks a bright red hue. One argument against its use is that it is solely used for marketing purposes and provides no nutritional value. 
“With the holiday season in full swing where sweet treats are abundant, it is frightening that this chemical remains hidden in these foods that we and our children are eating,” Pallone wrote in a letter. “While food companies must ensure that the food they market is safe, they are also only required to ensure that their products meet FDA’s standards. This means that thousands of products that contain this chemical can remain on the market.” 
The outlet noted that red dye No. 3 has been linked to hyperactivity in children and has been found to cause cancer in animals. To date, no study has made a connection between consumption of the artificial dye and cancer in humans. 
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for health secretary, has stated his belief that food dyes cause cancer, but has not voiced his opinion on the current petition or laid out a plan for banning specific dyes.  
“There are some departments such as the nutrition departments in the FDA that have to go, that are not doing their job, they are not protecting our kids,” RFK Jr. told <a href="https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/rfk-jr-starts-fleshing-vision-trumps-second-term-rcna179000">NBC News</a> last month. &#8220;Why do we have Fruit Loops in this country that have 18 or 19 ingredients and you go to Canada and it&#8217;s got two or three?&#8221; he said.
Red dye No. 3 has been banned from cosmetics in the U.S. since 1990. The additive is already banned in the European Union, and beginning in January 2027, it will also be prohibited in foods sold or manufactured in California.

Dave Weldon (R-FL)</a>, who is a medical doctor, to be the next Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Retail giant <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/costco">Costco</a> has recalled close to 80,000 pounds of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/food">butter</a> due to an error on the packaging.
The FDA sent out an initial recall for 79,200 pounds of both unsalted and salted Kirkland Signature Sweet Cream Butter in October due to the label failing to say the product “contains milk.”  Packages for both variations include “cream” on the ingredients list, but that was not enough to avoid a recall. Costco created the Kirkland Signature line in 1995.
On November 7, the FDA classified the recall as Class II, which is &#8220;a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote,&#8221; per the administration’s <a href="https://www.fda.gov/safety/industry-guidance-recalls/recalls-background-and-definitions">website</a>.
Reactions on social media were filled with mockery.

News articles are telling people how they can return, or safely dispose of, the butter. Another commenter <a href="https://x.com/cactusncookies/status/1855848231097295356">quipped</a>, “Can y’all please safely dispose of it at my house? I have a lot of holiday baking to do.”
“But if the butter is mislabeled, consumers would literally be spreading misinformation—all over their toast, bagels, pancakes, baked potatoes, muffins—it’s too horrific to think about,” another joking response <a href="https://x.com/utterboor/status/1855840676526629189">said</a>.
Despite all the mockery, some social media users agreed with the recall. 
“The laws exist to make sure that any food that contains a recognized allergen is labeled as such. Yeah in this case it seems silly, but how do you codify ‘you must label food that contains allergens, unless posters on Twitter decide that it&#8217;s obvious enough on its own’?” one person <a href="https://x.com/tempestis/status/1856031369014718469">wrote</a>.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) lists milk as one of the main foods that &#8220;account for most serious allergic reactions in the United States.&#8221;
