Former President Joe Biden&#8217;s embattled son Hunter Biden admitted on a recent podcast that President Donald Trump is not, in fact, the next incarnation of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler — but then he claimed that was only because Hitler, unlike Trump, had a &#8220;plan.&#8221;
Biden, during an interview on the &#8220;<a href="https://youtu.be/YRfS0YrKGRc?si=XrvxnaZYKJyHn_z1&amp;t=2143">Wide Awake Podcast</a>,&#8221; claimed that Trump differed from the German dictator largely because Hitler had been driven by &#8220;ideology&#8221; — whereas he believed Trump was only driven by &#8220;corruption&#8221; and a &#8220;white nationalist&#8221; world view.
Biden began with a question — namely, how did the German people allow Hitler&#8217;s rise to power — and he suggested that the United States might be going through a similar situation.

&#8220;Has anyone noticed how much the Trump family has made while he’s been president? A reported $1.8 billion,” Biden began, his tone soft. He abruptly began shouting as he added, “Can you imagine if any other president in American history did that? Can you imagine what would happen?&#8221;
Grok provided the perfect response to the former president: &#8220;Biden’s claim overlooks his family’s multimillion-dollar deals with foreign entities during and after his VP tenure, per House investigations and bank records. Trump’s family businesses operated separately, with him donating his full presidential salary to charity—hardly equivalent profiteering.&#8221;
In addition to the fact that President Trump has donated his salary the entire time that he has been president, <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/chart-shows-net-worth-us-presidents-before-after-office-1992975" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports indicate</a> that Trump is the only president in recent history to see his net worth drop after a term or two in the Oval Office, as The Daily Wire previously reported. When Trump first took office in 2017, he had an estimated net worth of $3 billion — and when he left office in early 2021, his net worth had fallen to $2.3 billion.

“Star Wars” alum Oscar Isaac said he would be willing to return to the franchise if Disney stayed woke.
The actor played X-wing fighter pilot Poe Dameron in the Star Wars sequel trilogy that began with “The Force Awakens” in 2015. During a newly published <a href="https://www.gq.com/story/oscar-isaac-gq-cover-story-interview-men-of-the-year-2025">interview</a> with GQ, Isaac reflected on a comment he previously made about returning to “Star Wars” only if he “needed another house.”
“Yeah. That was a real likable quote. Jesus Christ,” he told the interviewer after it was brought up. “Y’know, people ask you things, you say stuff, you don’t really think about it that much. I said a slightly d***ish thing.”
Isaac had said he was done with Disney for years, but now claims to be “open to” returning, with stipulations.
“Although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney,” he told GQ. “But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great,” Isaac added.
The interview included an editor’s note, noting it was “conducted two days after ABC and Disney suspended production of Jimmy Kimmel Live! in response to comments Kimmel made following the death of Charlie Kirk. Kimmel was back on the air four days after this conversation took place.”
Isaac appeared in several “Star Wars” franchise films, including “The Last Jedi” (2017) and “The Rise of Skywalker” (2019). He also voiced the character Dameron in the “Star Wars Resistance” animated series. 
Hollywood went into full-on meltdown mode following Kimmel’s suspension in September. Most celebrities blamed President Donald Trump for the suspension.
Kimmel’s remarks were taken to imply that Kirk’s killer was linked to Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement. Investigators say that the 22-year-old man arrested for Kirk’s killing was deeply steeped in leftist ideology and disliked Kirk for his conservative views.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said during the monologue in question.
When he returned following a brief suspension, Kimmel claimed that “it was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man.”

The largest teachers union in the United States has demanded that $3500 be set aside so that it can officially refer to President Donald Trump and his &#8220;programs and actions&#8221; as &#8220;fascist.&#8221;
Members of the National Education Association, during its annual convention, adopted a resolution that would have the group put up the cash so that all official NEA materials would &#8220;correctly characterize&#8221; the agenda of the Trump administration as &#8220;fascist.&#8221;
Corey DeAngelis shared several of the resolutions that were adopted by the NEA, saying in a Monday X post, &#8220;I just received a copy of the National Education Association&#8217;s resolutions that they passed at their annual convention. They kept them private this year.&#8221;

Other resolutions included one &#8220;to oppose any move to eliminate the U.S. Department of Education as an illegal, anti-democratic, and racist attempt to destroy public education and privatize it in the interests of the billionaires&#8221;; another that said the NEA would &#8220;defend birthright citizenship and oppose the attempt to revert to pre-civil rights movement – Jim Crow – legal concepts of &#8216;states rights&#8217; in order to deny citizenship to the children of immigrants&#8221;; and one that said the NEA would support students &#8220;dissenting and organizing against Trump’s policies,&#8221; specifically with regard to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities.
The price tags on those resolutions were $2000, $34,500, and $32,500, respectively.

During his Thursday morning broadcast, he recalled how Biden — along with the rest of his party and a whole host of media talking heads — had been referring to Trump as a &#8220;fascist&#8221; or suggesting that he was the second coming of Adolf Hitler just days earlier. What he didn&#8217;t understand, he said, was how Biden had pivoted so easily from calling Trump an &#8220;existential threat&#8221; to inviting him into the White House for a pleasant conversation.

Charlamagne went on to say that he understood Biden held himself up as an advocate for certain political &#8220;norms,&#8221; but still couldn&#8217;t quite make it all make sense in his mind.
By the end of the segment, he appeared to give up entirely, saying, &#8220;I&#8217;m gonna stop minding white people&#8217;s business.&#8221;
The popular host had broached the subject earlier, asking last Friday why prominent members of the Democratic Party had suddenly stopped referring to Trump as a &#8220;threat to democracy.&#8221;
&#8220;Don’t y’all find it strange that now that he’s won, they’re not calling him a threat to democracy? They’re not calling him a fascist. I mean, damn, on Monday, they was just calling him that. I would think that, you know, if you really believe that, then somebody’s speech would be about how America ‘effed up and how things are about to be really bad. WASHINGTON, D.C.—As Vice President Kamala Harris made a final electoral appeal to the nation, her supporters doubled down on extreme rhetoric, calling former President Donald Trump and his supporters Nazis and fascists.
“If he wins in November it will be the birth of the American Nazi Party with him at the top of it,” Bill Wood told The Daily Wire outside Harris&#8217;s Tuesday <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-calls-trump-a-petty-tyrant-in-closing-speech-as-far-left-protests-rage">speech</a> at the Ellipse. &#8220;He&#8217;s going to take anybody who disagrees with him and put them in jail, and from there, he&#8217;s going to deport them out of the United States altogether.”
“Trump is nothing but a dictator, he wants to subvert our democracy,” said Marc Petitpierre, who traveled to the rally from West Virginia. “He’s a damn Nazi! He’s a fascist! “I think he wants to basically turn this into a white Christian nation, which it is not,” another attendee said of Trump’s motives, before saying that she isn’t concerned that the heated rhetoric could inspire more violence against the former president.
“I think it is a totally reasonable assumption,” she said of claims that Trump is a Nazi. “I mean, Elon Musk is wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat in the Nazi font,” she continued, referring to Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden. “That was definitely the vibe there, it was frightening and disgusting.”
“I hope he goes to prison. I think he should go to prison,” she added. “I think he’s a full fascist authoritarian.”
One man said that both Trump and his supporters were Nazis.
“You committed treason, and we hate your ever f***ing guts,” he said of people who vote for Trump, adding that the Republican presidential contender “wants to destroy all life on earth.”
“They don&#8217;t get to be the Nazis on our street. They don&#8217;t get to turn our police into, you know, they&#8217;re Gestapo. F*** them,” the man said. “If they want to bring on the violence, America, we&#8217;ll kick their ass.”
When asked what his final message would be, he remarked “love wins in the end.”
During her speech, Harris called Trump a “petty tyrant” and a “wannabe dictator,&#8221; and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-calls-trump-a-petty-tyrant-in-closing-speech-as-far-left-protests-rage">compared</a> her opponent to King George III. Shortly after Trump narrowly escaped death at the hands of a would-be assassin in Butler, Pennsylvania in July, President Joe Biden urged Americans to &#8220;<a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/hey-remember-lowering-the-temperature-in-our-politics/">lower the temperature</a>&#8221; in politics.

Melania said she&#8217;s more prepared this time around for life in the White House should Trump win re-election and said she wasn&#8217;t “anxious” to be first lady again.

When pressed by one of the hosts about comments she made in her memoir “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/melania-trump-offers-glimpse-into-new-memoir-says-its-time-to-clarify-the-facts">Melania</a>” regarding being stabbed in the back the last time she was in the White House, the former first lady said it was important for people to hear her story, because there was “a lot of misinformation” and “mistruths.”
The former first lady also talked about the support Trump’s been getting and said the energy felt like 2016. However, she admitted, this time around, things are “much more dangerous” following two attempted assassination attempts on her husband.
“I’m very vigilant and very selective were I go, what do I do,” Melania said. “Because you never know. It’s one person. It’s dangerous out there. “
During an interview on Tuesday with <a href="https://x.com/WISN12News/status/1851369310121287804?_nlid=AgV66W9RUZ&amp;_nhids=pLzmHBvOB9">WISN-TV</a>, Kamala Harris was asked about her running mate Minnesota Gov. Leftist author Judith Butler claims in her latest book that Daily Wire host <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/the-michael-knowles-show" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Michael Knowles</a> is a fascist because of his views that society should not accept transgenderism.
Butler, a well-known feminist and proponent of gender ideology, takes aim at Knowles in her book, “Who’s Afraid of Gender?” In the book, Butler argues that comments Knowles made at CPAC in 2023 about eradicating the ideology of transgenderism from public life were fascistic.
According to an <a href="https://pioneerworks.org/broadcast/who's-afraid-of-gender-judith-butler" target="_blank" rel="noopener">excerpt</a> from her new book, Butler discusses a viral quote from Knowles&#8217; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/michael-knowles-reveals-what-conservatives-must-do-to-defeat-radical-gender-theory-during-cpac-speech" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CPAC speech</a> where he said that “transgenderism must be eradicated from public life entirely” for the good of society and “the poor people who have fallen prey to this confusion.”
After the speech, Knowles was attacked by many on the Left who accused him of promoting “genocide.” Even the Biden administration weighed in, with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/wh-spokesperson-karine-jean-pierre-repeats-false-claim-michael-knowles-called-for-eradication-of-transgender-people" target="_blank" rel="noopener">falsely claiming</a> that he called for the “eradication of transgender people.”
In her book, which was published in March, Butler repeats attacks on Knowles for the speech, quoting the part about eradicating the ideology of transgenderism.
“The language of eradication belongs to fascism, and today it is directed not only against trans people but against all those who have been clustered under the signs of ‘gender’ and ‘critical race theory’ and ‘wokism,’” Butler wrote. “The ready definitions for fascism tend to rely on the study of its twentieth-century form, so new vocabularies are required to understand new iterations of fascism that have emerged in the last decades.”
Butler’s book has been <a href="https://christopherrufo.com/p/trans-factual" target="_blank" rel="noopener">thoroughly criticized</a> by investigative journalist Chris Rufo, who points out that it is riddled with factual errors and mischaracterizations about Rufo’s own work targeting gender ideology.
Knowles responded to Butler’s accusations on his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-1486-watch-the-hillary-clinton-musical-is-worse-than-you-think" target="_blank" rel="noopener">show on Thursda</a>y where he critiqued the Left’s ever-changing definition of fascism.

On his show, Knowles pointed out that prominent liberal figures like Bill and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama would all be considered “fascists” because they all opposed gay marriage at one point in their political careers. The same would go for support for transgenderism, Knowles said, the explosion of which is a very recent phenomenon.

“Everyone agreed with me until about 2015, until Obama started to enshrine protections for transgenderism in public life,” Knowles said. “Everybody agreed with me, there was essentially no one in the world who disagreed with the point that I was making at CPAC. So, according to Judith Butler, does that mean everyone was a fascist, except for her?”
“This means that the definition of fascism has to change to: whatever the liberals oppose now,” Knowles added. “It’s always changing. For Judith Butler, it’s not being a progressive leftist.”

In New Mexico, the Democratic governor apparently thinks the Constitution doesn’t apply to her.
“New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday issued an emergency order suspending the right to carry firearms in public across Albuquerque and the surrounding county for at least 30 days in response to a spate of gun violence,” the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/albuquerque-guns-governor-concealed-carry-fc5b4b79bf411b8022c3ad58975724d7" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Associated Press</a> reported. “The Democratic governor said she expects legal challenges but she was compelled to act because of recent shootings, including the death of an 11-year-old boy outside a minor league baseball stadium this week. Lujan Grisham said state police would be responsible for enforcing what amount to civil violations.”
The New Mexico governor claims that emergency powers give her the ability to simply suspend constitutional law. But the Albuquerque police chief is already saying he won’t enforce her order because it’s unconstitutional: “No constitutional right, in my view, including my oath, is intended to be absolute,” Grisham stated. “There are restrictions on free speech. There are restrictions on my freedoms. In this emergency, this 11-year-old, and all these parents who have lost all these children, they deserve my attention to have the debate about whether or not in an emergency, we can create a safer environment. Because what about their constitutional rights?”
When people speak of political fascism, this is it. When a member of the government simply declares via emergency order that they can willy-nilly violate full-scale constitutional rights based on no actual emergency — we are not talking about a tornado hitting the state or some sort of giant earthquake — that’s fascism. She is basically saying, “I don’t like that people got shot. Therefore, I’m banning you from exercising your constitutional rights.”

You could do this for anything. Someone could say, “Listen, we have a national epidemic of hate.” (You’ve seen this in places like Chicago, where the former mayor, Lori Lightfoot, tried to declare that racism was a public health emergency.) You could see somebody like this idiot governor saying, “Racism and hate are public health emergencies, and I’m declaring an emergency. Therefore, you are not allowed to say the following words in my state,” and then just list them. That would be a significant First Amendment violation.
She could go even further. She could say, “You’re not allowed to use the internet because the internet obviously has facilitated so much violence. I’ve decided in my state, you’re not allowed to use it — not on the basis of any sort of elected legislative session, but on the basis of my own judgment that an emergency has now been constituted because I don’t like what is happening.” If all of your rights are simply dependent on one lady deciding she really doesn’t like what is happening in the world, that is tyranny. That is the essence of tyranny.
It’s amazing she would try this, but it was always going to happen. The minute we shut down everything in the world for COVID, and then maintained that for two years, even as the data emerged that it actually wasn’t the sort of national emergency that was being suggested, it was only a matter of time before Democratic officials tried to do something like this.
If this is the new way the Democrats make law, then they could do it on the basis of anything.
And that’s a pretty terrifying prospect.

Jake Tapper conducted an interview with Chris Christie the other day. He asked him a question that a lot of people in the Left-leaning media constantly ask: Do Republicans have an authoritarian problem? 
Authoritarianism is not what people in the media think it is. They think authoritarianism is Donald Trump tweeting. But there are many forms of authoritarianism. In fact, fascism is an element of both Left and Right. It is not merely a Right-wing action. Authoritarianism can just as easily be implemented by a series of executive orders that go outside the Constitution, that radically re-shift the balance between people in the government, something Joe Biden does with alacrity. 
Tapper told Christie, “There was a column in ‘The Philadelphia Inquirer’ by a progressive journalist named Will Bunch talking about how he thought the news media was doing a disservice to the public by not frankly and candidly describing what he views as an authoritarian streak going on in the Republican Party. You haven&#8217;t read the column I assume so I&#8217;m not even going to ask you about it. But you do describe the conduct of Donald Trump trying to overturn the election as reprehensible. You do condemn it?”
Christie: “Yeah.”
“But so many people in your party, and I&#8217;m not just talking about people running for president or on Capitol Hill, but I mean voters, Republican voters, don&#8217;t seem to have a problem with it,” Tapper declared. “And I&#8217;m wondering, do you think that your party has an authoritarian problem? That they really honestly don&#8217;t have a problem with violently trying to stop a free and fair election from going — going forward?” 
 
“No, Jake, I absolutely don&#8217;t think that we have that problem,” Christie responded. “I think what we have is a Donald Trump problem. And that right now what&#8217;s gone on is that people view Donald Trump synonymously with the Republican Party. And that if you oppose Trump, that is somehow favoring Biden. And many Republicans don&#8217;t want to do that for very obvious reasons.”

It is true that for many Republicans, Trump is seen as synonymous with the Republican Party. And if you tell people it&#8217;s either Biden or the Republican Party, a lot of people are going to vote Republican. But what&#8217;s insulting to the intelligence is this generalized narrative that the media are constantly drawing, in which they suggest that fascism or authoritarianism or tyranny is an element of the Right, and the Left is completely free, that their hands are completely clean.</h4>
It&#8217;s obviously not true. The truth is that fascism as an ideology is closer to the American Left than it is to the American Right. Fascism is an ideology that was generalized in response to communism, but it drew from Marxism, Hegelian politics, and progressive-era ideas, which is why many of the early supporters of Mussolini were members of the Left, including people who had worked in Woodrow Wilson’s administration who went on to work in the FDR administration.
But the media feels free to lie, saying that the Right is universally authoritarian and the Left is for freedom.

Fascism Isn’t Right-Wing

Everybody knows what fascism means, right? After all, our politicians and media members use the word constantly. Everybody you don&#8217;t like is a fascist. Everybody you do like is fighting fascism. But what exactly is fascism?
The one thing everybody seems to know is that fascism is like Hitler and this means the chief characteristic of fascism is the Holocaust. Therefore, by the transitive property: Everyone you don&#8217;t like is fascist; every fascist is Hitler; the most Hitler thing is the Holocaust. So, Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis or whomever the media say that day is probably going to commit a holocaust.
Invariably, the people in the media who use the word fascism use it to refer to a politician of the Right. But it turns out that fascism is Right-wing only when compared with outright communism. Fascism in Europe was a reactionary force. By American standards, fascism — which calls for unity of central authority and governmental control over private industry, among other agenda items — was far more Left-wing than Right-wing, which is why so many members of the American Left were originally quite warm toward Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler.
To understand this, let&#8217;s look briefly at the history of fascism. Fascism is a very messy concept in that it crosses streams with a wide variety of other ideologies ranging from Marxism to religious integralism. So what are the common features of fascism? 
First, fascism is characterized by a belief in the moral imperative of the centralized state. We can sense the roots of fascism going all the way back to Plato who called for a Philosopher King in a utopian state, although there are those who read Plato as esoteric in this call. We can sense fascist themes in Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712 &#8211; 1778), who called for the dictatorship of the general will, a sort of miasmatic power emanating from the people but vested in a centralized authority, in which all people would feel themselves members. This is why Robespierre, the author of &#8220;The Reign of Terror,” cited Rousseau as divine. Georg Friedrich Hegel, (1770 &#8211; 1831), saw the power of the state as the apotheosis of mankind: 
<blockquote>“The state consists in the march of God in the world.”</blockquote>
This means that fascism sees both economic and individual freedoms as antithetical to the good when they challenge the power of the state.

Second, fascism is characterized by a belief in nationalism or in its most virulent form racial hierarchy. We can see the roots of fascism in ancient Sparta, a militaristic dictatorship rooted in racial purity. With the death of biblical adherence to the notion of a universal humanity during the enlightenment, racial division became a deep part of Western thought.
Immanuel Kant (1724 &#8211; 1804) spoke about a hierarchy of races in his earlier work. He attempted to walk some of that back later in life. This sort of thought was exacerbated by Charles Darwin&#8217;s theory, which was misread to embrace scientific racism. Such scientific racism became a dominant philosophy throughout much of the progressive world, which is why both Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson were advocates of eugenics.
Third, fascism is militaristic. It sees organization around military lines as a model for human existence and recommends action in the world as a response to existential nihilism.
There&#8217;s a reason Friedrich Nietzsche (1844 &#8211; 1900) was beloved to fascists. He spoke of the &#8220;Ubermensch&#8221; who would be able to conquer through power of sheer will. Fascism suggests a sort of mystical spirit residing in the nation that must be fed through expansionism and militarization of life.
Historically, the most important fascist was actually not Hitler but Benito Mussolini. Mussolini was the first politician to truly channel the roiling forces of fascism into one movement. The word fascism comes from the word “fasces,” a bundle of rods grouped together to form a roman weapon. Fascism comes from Italy.
Mussolini was originally attracted to the work of Marx, which was not anti-fascist in any real way. Many of the predicates of fascism also worked quite well for Lenin and Stalin. But Mussolini eventually came to realize rejecting Marx could serve his own ends.
In the aftermath of World War I, Mussolini gained power by marching on Rome, with the acquiescence of the king, in order to supposedly save the state from Bolshevism. Mussolini&#8217;s philosophy was somewhat vague but it carried all the central tenets of fascism. In 1927, Mussolini laid out the “Doctrine” of Fascism.” He wrote:
<blockquote>“Anti-individualistic, the Fascist conception of life stresses the importance of the State and accepts the individual only in so far as his interests coincide with those of the State…”</blockquote>
Mussolini wrote that fascism was a “spiritual attitude.” That spiritual attitude required outward expansion:
<blockquote>“The state is not only authority which governs and confers a legal form and spiritual value on individual wills, it is also Power which makes its will felt and respected beyond its own frontiers thus affording practical proof of the universal character of the decisions necessary to ensure its development. This implies organization and expansion potential if not actual.”</blockquote>
That expansion meant not just militarization, but gargantuan public works, massive expansion of the welfare state, corporatization of the private sector with the government leaving private industry intact, but essentially working hand-in-glove with it to control it and channel its resources in the direction sought by the fascists.
Private companies remaining in private hands, that&#8217;s the reason that we&#8217;re able to create innovative products right here in America that are recognized and used the world over. We know how incompetent the government is, imagine them actually controlling all private business. Things would look pretty bleak.
Glorification of the State and the great leader lay at the root of the Mussolini regime. Mussolini quickly gained worldwide credence and approval. Fascism spread throughout Europe. Hitler greatly admired Mussolini, of course, and Hitler&#8217;s original Beer Hall Putsch was supposed to mimic the success of Mussolini&#8217;s march on Rome.
Hitlerian fascism was significantly more totalitarian than Mussolini&#8217;s brand. The cult of the great leader reached its fruition in the Führer. Philosopher Martin Heidegger embodied the feelings of millions in 1933:
<blockquote>“The Führer himself and he alone is the German reality, present and future, and its law. Heil Hitler!” </blockquote>
Nazism, of course, took on racial eugenics in a far more significant way culminating in the Holocaust. And Nazism&#8217;s militarism ended in the catastrophe of World War II. Hitler was not the only fascist to follow Mussolini&#8217;s lead.
Fascist regimes took over in a variety of countries ranging from Hungary and Romania to Paraguay and eventually Iraq. Other states, ranging from Spain to Argentina, mimic many aspects of fascism, leading many to label them quasi-fascist.
Certain aspects of fascism, particularly in the economic realm could even be seen under FDR in the United States. FDR&#8217;s New Deal, complete with government resources directed at forcing economic conformity, controlled huge swaths of American life, with FDR aide Harry Hopkins openly suggesting,
<blockquote>“We are not afraid of exploring anything within the law and we have a lawyer who will declare anything you want to do to be legal.”</blockquote>
And this is why the term fascism is so attractive in political discourse. Everybody thinks of Brownshirts and small mustaches when they invoke fascism, but there are a lot of aspects of fascism that survive in a variety of forms.
Corporatism — government working hand-in-glove with industry — is a form of economic fascism. Racial hierarchies can be indicative of fascist thinking, particularly when combined with differential treatment under law. Militarism can be termed fascist, particularly when its resources are directed at domestic populations.
Few people will admit to being fascist today. It would be far more useful for everybody to simply critique policies with reference to history but without reference to the buzzword that poisons everyday discourse. We can have good and interesting conversations about the value of corporatism, for example, without invoking Hitler, we can talk about opposing the shortcomings of atomic individualism without invoking the Holocaust.
The truth is that nowadays the term fascism tends to be a slur rather than a predicate to a useful conversation. As it turns out, everybody you don&#8217;t like probably isn&#8217;t Hitler.

In the third episode of his new YouTube series, “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/facts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Facts</a>,” Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro explained the history of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/fascism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fascism</a>, detailing how most people who use the term today do not understand the origins or nature of the ideology.
The Daily Wire co-founder noted that the media missed the mark when it portrayed conservative political figures, like former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, as fascists, explaining that the fascist ideology centers around the idea of a strong centralized state, an idea popular among many American leftists.
“Fascism is characterized by a belief in the moral imperative of the centralized state. We can sense the roots of fascism going all the way back to Plato, who called for a philosopher king in a utopian state,” Shapiro said in the episode, which was released on Saturday.
Another characteristic of fascism is holding to a belief in nationalism, and sometimes a rigid racial hierarchy. This can be seen first in ancient Sparta and later in the scientific racism that was embraced toward the end of the 19th century.
