CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale delivered a <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/09/14/politics/fact-check-harris-campaign-social-media/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">brutal</a>, eight-part takedown of the @KamalaHQ X account, which has been named as the Vice President&#8217;s official rapid response account, noting that it had &#8220;made a habit of misleadingly clipping and inaccurately captioning video clips to attack former President Donald Trump.&#8221;
&#8220;Fact check: Harris campaign social media account has repeatedly deceived with misleading edits and captions,&#8221; the headline read, noting that the account then blasted those misleading edits out to more than 1.3 million followers on X, formerly Twitter.

<blockquote>The Harris campaign deploys @KamalaHQ as a kind of irreverent attack dog, using jocular posts to draw attention to controversial, incorrect, or dubious comments by Trump and his allies. But the account, which the Harris campaign calls its “<a href="https://x.com/KamalaHQ/status/1815212766912803099" target="_blank" rel="noopener">official rapid response page</a>,” has itself made inaccurate comments on multiple occasions.</blockquote>
Dale then laid out a series of eight examples of the @KamalaHQ account doing just that.
In the first case, they edited video of Trump to make it appear as though he had forgotten where he was.

But the full video of that Pennsylvania rally showed that there was a small group of attendees who were there from North Carolina — and that Trump, aware of that, pointed them out several times throughout the rally and referred to that section of the audience as &#8220;North Carolina&#8221; when he did so.
The @KamalaHQ account made a similar post last week, claiming again that Trump had forgotten what state he was in. This time, unedited footage showed that he was clearly referencing the migrant crisis affecting Pennsylvania during a rally in Arizona.

A third example from @KamalaHQ showed a clip of Trump, claiming he was saying &#8220;nothing was done wrong&#8221; in Charlottesville in 2017. The full video showed Trump clearly stating that he was not referring to the neo-Nazis or the counterprotestors who killed Heather Heyer, but  to his own comment about there being &#8220;fine people on both sides&#8221; — which he and numerous outlets, CNN included, have said did not include white nationalists.

&#8220;I think he (Muir) corrected me 11 times. Of the 11 times, I don’t think he had the right to correct me at all. Didn’t correct her once. Like on Project 2025, I have no idea about — had nothing to do with me, he didn’t correct her, he knew that,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;Charlottesville — nothing was done wrong. All you had to do is read my statement one more sentence and you would’ve seen that. Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Jesse (Watters), all of them, they — Greg Gutfeld — they all took that and they corrected it many times. But they keep coming with the same lies.&#8221;
And while Harris&#8217; campaign did not respond to CNN on the first two examples, they did attempt to defend the Charlottesville reference.
&#8220;He’s saying he did ‘nothing wrong’ in relation to him saying ‘very fine people’ who did what is described in the tweet,&#8221; the campaign said in an email.
A fourth example showed the account deceptively editing a comment from vice presidential candidate and Senator JD Vance (R-OH) regarding veterans&#8217; health care.

When asked whether he&#8217;d consider privatizing health care for veterans, @KamalaHQ claimed that he responded, &#8220;I think he&#8217;d consider it.&#8221;
&#8220;I think I’d consider — and Donald Trump was really good at this, doesn’t get enough credit for this particular innovation — giving veterans more choice. Right? So let’s say you’re in a rural hospital. Your closest VA is 120 miles away. Why force a veteran to drive two-and-a-half hours to that VA facility when he can get cheaper and good care right in his backyard? Right? So I do think that we ought to open up choice and optionality for veterans. You know, I think that there is areas where the VA actually works very well, so I wouldn’t say get rid of the whole thing. I would say give people more choice, I think you’ll save money in the process, you’ll also give veterans a lot more optionality.&#8221;
Harris&#8217; campaign also pushed back on this fact-check, claiming that they never said he meant to privatize everything. But as Dale noted, they still cut off the video before he explained exactly what he intended to &#8220;consider,&#8221; suggesting that the privatization of all veterans&#8217; care was the only thing on the table.
Dale outlined four additional examples, each of which involved @KamalaHQ either posting video clips without relevant context or overtly mischaracterizing things that Trump said in order to attack him.

TIME Magazine issued an embarrassing correction to its post-debate report about how former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris fared against each other on Tuesday night.
Breitbart columnist John Nolte <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/the-media/2024/09/11/nolte-time-issues-humiliating-correction-admitting-kamala-supports-taxpayer-funded-gender-surgery-for-illegals/">noted</a> that the left-wing publication initially <a href="https://archive.is/VmxAA#selection-883.0-892.0">reported</a>:
<blockquote>The former President &#8230; falsely claimed that Harris “wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens in prison.”</blockquote>
Trump made the factually correct statement when talking about the litany of issues that Harris has flip-flopped on since becoming the Democrat Party&#8217;s presidential nominee.
&#8220;She did things that nobody would ever think of,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;Now she wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison. This is a radical Left liberal that would do this.&#8221;
Trump&#8217;s comment came after CNN recently <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/harris-pledged-to-use-taxpayer-money-to-fund-sex-change-surgeries-for-illegal-aliens-in-detention-report">unearthed</a> a questionnaire Harris filled out for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) during her failed 2020 presidential campaign. She was asked if she, as president, would use “executive authority to ensure that transgender and non-binary people who rely on the state for medical care – including those in prison and immigration detention – will have access to comprehensive treatment associated with gender transition, including all necessary surgical care.”
She answered, “Yes.”

Harris explained her answer by claiming that it was “important that transgender individuals who rely on the state for care receive the treatment they need, which includes access to treatment associated with gender transition.”
“Transition treatment is a medical necessity, and I will direct all federal agencies responsible for providing essential medical care to deliver transition treatment,” she claimed.
TIME issued the following correction to their report:

However, the edit that the publication made inside the piece was still insufficient as they simply removed the word &#8220;false&#8221; so the sentence now reads: &#8220;The former President &#8230; claimed that Harris &#8216;wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens in prison.'&#8221;
The fact that the publication still uses the word &#8220;claimed&#8221; to hedge Trump&#8217;s statement shows that they are intent on casting doubt on the veracity of what he said, even though it&#8217;s a position that Harris put in writing.

The Washington Post gave Democrat Gov. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tim-walz" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tim Walz</a> (MN) &#8220;four Pinocchios&#8221; in a Thursday fact-check for lying about Republican Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jd-vance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">JD Vance</a> (OH) during a recent campaign event.
Walz, who&#8217;s been slated to be Kamala Harris&#8217; VP pick, claimed Vance, Donald Trump&#8217;s VP pick, is not pro-worker and has &#8220;never cast a vote on a pro-worker bill in his life.&#8221;
“I’ll tell you, [Trump&#8217;s] running mate, I don’t know if that was a value-add to this campaign or not, but he’s one of four senators, four, that has never cast a vote on a pro-worker bill in his life. Not once,&#8221; Walz said Tuesday to a union audience. &#8220;A stopped clock’s right twice a day, this guy can’t get it right once, not once, for workers.”
“The only thing those two guys know about working people is how to work to take advantage of them,&#8221; the governor added.

The Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/08/15/walzs-false-claim-that-vance-never-voted-any-pro-worker-bills/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> they were &#8220;struck&#8221; by such false language from Walz and suggested he borrowed the talking point directly from a far-Left interest group. The Democrat earned four Pinocchios for the remarks &#8212; the most a false rating can receive.
&#8220;We were struck that Walz said that Vance was one of four senators who had never cast a vote for a pro-worker bill,&#8221; the fact-check said. &#8220;That was rather specific and sounded as if he was borrowing from a legislative scorecard compiled by an organization or interest group.&#8221;
Walz&#8217;s &#8220;source&#8221; for the attack &#8220;was a union report card that covered only two bills in one year,&#8221; the Post continued. &#8220;Vance has voted for at least two bills that helped workers and had union support.&#8221;
Walz&#8217;s claim that Vance knows nothing about working people was also untrue, the fact-check said, noting it was literally the &#8220;subject of his book,&#8221; &#8220;Hillbilly Elegy.&#8221;

Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) tore into CNN senior fact-checker Daniel Dale over his on-air declaration that Waltz was wrong about the Biden administration leaning in to developing and building electric tanks for the U.S. Army.
Waltz made the comment during his speech at the Republican National Convention (RNC), where he talked about military strength and readiness and argued that under President Joe Biden — and under the thumb of the climate agenda — American military priorities were all wrong.
Dale responded by claiming that Waltz — a combat veteran and a Green Beret — was wrong about the Biden administration&#8217;s push to build electric tanks.
Waltz pushed back first in a post on X, sharing an article from Inside Defense with the comment, &#8220;&#8216;The Army intends to field all-electric tanks by 2050, a top service energy and environment official told Inside Defense.&#8217; You can retract your &#8216;fact-check&#8217; from TV last night on my speech.&#8221;

Waltz brought Dale into the conversation, prompting his interviewer to read back what he&#8217;d said about Biden &#8220;focusing on building electric tanks&#8221; and noting that it appeared to come from an Army climate strategy plan that mentioned going electric with tactical vehicles.
&#8220;Wrong,&#8221; Waltz cut him off, citing a Bloomberg report and testimony from the Secretary of the Army — along with a budget report indicating that funding was being set aside for development — and argued that Dale should sit down with some of the same people he had if he really wanted the facts.
The interviewer tried to object, saying that Dale would probably be happy to speak with anyone — but Waltz pointed out that he should have done so before he called into question the &#8220;credibility&#8221; of a sitting member of Congress on live television.
&#8220;Getting to the truth is a process,&#8221; the interviewer hedged.
Waltz made it clear that he was having none of it, adding, &#8220;But literally minutes after my speech, he&#8217;s telling the world I&#8217;m misleading. There&#8217;s no way he could review the Army&#8217;s budget, the research and development, the testimony that I personally received under oath – or how about just Google and get the facts?&#8221;

Johnson made the comment earlier this month while <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGeQRt1WDRo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">promoting companion bills</a>, dubbed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, that <a href="https://roy.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-roy-leads-fight-save-american-elections" target="_blank" rel="noopener">would require proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration</a>.
Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), whose version of the legislation <a href="https://cha.house.gov/_cache/files/9/4/9481c1c3-fbbe-43da-be01-8160304debbd/7B3AAB700E4EC1DBC9A2D00FF651F2B8.notice-5.23.24.pdf.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">may be considered</a> by a committee later this week, fired back at PolitiFact on X while taking a shot at the Biden administration for its handling of the migrant crisis.
&#8220;Whether it’s at the DMV or welfare offices, non-citizens have myriad opportunities to register to vote, as non-citizens are obviously eligible for government benefits under current federal and state policies,&#8221; Roy <a href="https://x.com/RepChipRoy/status/1792963711805853842" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a thread on X.
&#8220;Biden&#8217;s mass release of millions of illegal aliens into the U.S. – including over 1 million via parole – will only make this worse,&#8221; he added.
&#8220;But even if the ideological operatives at Politi-&#8216;fact&#8217; want to torture the statistics to say that this somehow isn&#8217;t a problem, then nobody should mind if we put safeguards in place to prevent it from becoming one — that is, unless you actually want noncitizens voting in federal elections,&#8221; Roy concluded.
Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), who introduced the Senate version of the SAVE Act, also took a crack at PolitiFact.

The senator also responded through his <a href="https://x.com/BasedMikeLee/status/1792981567591059714" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;BasedMikeLee&#8221; personal account</a>.
&#8220;States are prohibited, under [the Supreme Court&#8217;s] interpretation of the [National Voter Registration Act], from requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections,&#8221; he said.
&#8220;So yes, while it is in fact &#8216;illegal for noncitizens to vote&#8217; in federal elections, that’s not the end of the matter,&#8221; Lee added. &#8220;#PassTheSAVEAct.&#8221;

Fact-checking website <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/snopes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Snopes</a> has updated its assessment of the contents of a stolen diary that belonged to President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a>’s daughter, Ashley Biden, to say they have been verified.
An article published in early April explored the claim that Ashley Biden&#8217;s diary &#8220;describes actions taken toward her by her father when she was a child as &#8216;probably not appropriate.'&#8221;
Whereas the article <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240405205118/https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/ashley-biden-diary-claims/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">initially said</a> the claim had been &#8220;Unproven,&#8221; a <a href="https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/ashley-biden-diary-claims/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">revised version</a> published at the end of the month changed the rating to &#8220;True.&#8221;
A note affixed to the top of the article cites an April 8 letter to a New York judge requesting jail time for one of the two people <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/woman-gets-sentenced-to-prison-for-selling-ashley-bidens-diary" target="_blank" rel="noopener">convicted of stealing</a> Ashley Biden&#8217;s diary in the run-up to the 2020 election.
&#8220;I will forever have to deal with the fact that my personal journal can be viewed online,&#8221; Ashley Biden wrote in the letter, which The New York Times <a href="https://static01.nyt.com/newsgraphics/documenttools/654c5f7182bca1ee/6fe57478-full.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published online</a>.
Snopes said previous versions of the fact-check noted &#8220;strong evidence&#8221; that the diary existed but argued no source had authenticated the contents of the pages that were published online.

The earlier iteration of the Snopes fact-check claimed &#8220;the authenticity of photographs purported to be from a diary is a separate question from the factual existence of a diary.&#8221;

In her letter to the court, Ashley Biden said her journal was part of her efforts to heal after being the victim of a crime in her early 20s.
Ashley Biden claimed that she was targeted because her father had been running for president, and the publicity the diary had drawn led her to be &#8220;constantly re-traumatized by it.&#8221;
She also said: &#8220;Repeatedly, I hear others grossly misinterpret my once-private writings and lob false accusations that defame my character and those of the people I love.&#8221;

Fact-checker Glenn Kessler was responding to statements from Biden administration officials — and President Joe Biden himself &#8212; who had said that he had &#8220;no confidence&#8221; in the numbers coming out of any organization controlled by Hamas terrorists.
&#8220;I have no notion that the Palestinians are telling the truth about how many people are killed. I’m sure innocents have been killed, and it’s the price of waging a war,&#8221; Biden said. &#8220;I have no confidence in the number that the Palestinians are using.&#8221;
Kessler, however, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/11/01/bidens-dismissal-reported-palestinian-death-toll/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=wp_main" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appeared to argue</a> that the health ministry could be trusted. He explained that the Biden administration had cited the Gaza Health Ministry in the past and that the United Nations cited their numbers as well.

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro exposed the powerful global entities working to deplatform and demonetize conservative voices in a new <a href="https://twitter.com/benshapiro/status/1686109381761318912?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter thread</a>. 
Shapiro explained in the Monday thread how the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/world-economic-forum" target="_blank" rel="noopener">World Economic Forum</a> (WEF), the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA), and NewsGuard were all working together to crack down on so-called “misinformation” and dictate what media is “safe” for advertising.

The WFA, which <a href="https://wfanet.org/knowledge/item/2017/01/30/Agency-Trading-Desks-still-dominate-programmatic-but-advertisers-are-demanding-a-new-more-transparent-relationship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">represents</a> 90% of “global marketing communications,” launched the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) in 2019. Soon after, the World Economic Forum <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ben-shapiro-takes-on-corporations-behind-censorship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">adopted</a> GARM as one of its “flagship” projects. 
“GARM is an unholy alliance between huge advertisers and social media companies like Google’s YouTube, China’s TikTok, Meta’s Facebook &amp; Instagram, and even Twitter/X and Snapchat. GARM developed something they call the ‘brand safety floor &amp; suitability framework,’” Shapiro explained. 
The Daily Wire co-founder said the framework might be fine if it stuck to things like blocking child pornography, but it also included cracking down on viewpoints that GARM found objectionable. 
“But their authoritarian nature kicked in, &amp; they decided to ban cultural commentary they don&#8217;t approve of, like when we say men can&#8217;t be women,” Shapiro said. 
“Legacy media, new media, and even independent podcasters are subject to these rules. If you violate them and say true things the elites don&#8217;t like, they can blacklist you, demonetize you, or deplatform you,” he added. 
Shapiro said that he doesn’t think that WEF chairman Klaus Schwab believes that transgender-identifying influencer Dylan Mulvaney is actually a woman, but that supporting that position degrades family and social fabric, “making power easier to take from the top.” He added that it also makes the activists marching against capitalism now on the side of the powerful. 
One of the organizations that “helps” advertisers meet GARM standards is NewsGuard, which rates American media on supposedly apolitical criteria. According to NewsGuard, it helps <a href="https://www.newsguardtech.com/press/newsguard-offers-targeted-services-free-audits-to-help-brands-meet-new-garm-misinformation-standards/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">identify</a> so-called “misinformation” that is “inappropriate for advertising support.”
“The little compliance crusaders at NewsGuard engage in performative virtue signaling by going around issuing scores to media outlets based on their allegedly ‘apolitical’ criteria,” Shapiro said. 
The partnership has made even some lawmakers concerned. House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) subpoenaed officials from GARM and the WFA, saying that the two appeared to be facilitating “collusion among their members in a manner that may violate U.S. antitrust law.”
The end goal of the initiatives, Shapiro explained, is to control information and restrict what people can and cannot be exposed to.
“There are certain industries where a violation of antitrust law isn’t going to result in disaster. The Left’s increasing desire to monopolize news and commentary isn&#8217;t one of them. Take the time to know the players like your freedom depends on it, because it does,” Shapiro concluded.

The Republican National Committee shared a comprehensive list of President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden&#8217;s</a> biggest whoppers on Tuesday, from his repeated claims that he drove an 18-wheeler to his insistence that a 2004 house fire — which was reportedly contained to his kitchen — had very nearly killed his wife and a couple of fire-fighters.
The list, which the RNC shared on Tuesday, detailed &#8220;21 made-up stories Biden has told about himself as president.&#8221;
First on the list was Biden&#8217;s claim that he &#8220;used to drive&#8221; an 18-wheeler.
&#8220;I used to drive a tractor trailer … I only did it for part of a summer,&#8221; Biden said in 2021 — but <a href="https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2021/dec/03/joe-biden/no-joe-biden-wasnt-tractor-trailer-driver/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to Politifact</a>, there is no evidence he ever did that. He did ride in a tractor-trailer once as a senator, however, and he drove a bus one summer during law school.

Next on the list was Biden’s claim that he had grown up in the Puerto Rican community in Delaware — where in 1970, Puerto Ricans accounted for 0.39% of the population.

Then came Biden’s claim that he visited Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue after the shooting — despite the synagogue having no record of any such visit — and Biden’s assertion that he had served as a liaison to Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir during the Six Day War. That claim was problematic due to the fact that Biden was not yet a senator — and Meir was not yet PM — when that war took place.

This partnership with Google and YouTube infuses financial support to global fact-checkers and is a step in the right direction,” said Baybars Örsek, the IFCN’s executive director. “And while there’s much work to be done, this partnership has sparked meaningful collaboration and an important step.”
About $12 million of the grant will go to the group’s Global Fact Check Fund, which will disburse money to fact-checking groups from around the world that adhere to its Code of Principles. These include groups in the U.S., Brazil, Nepal, Ukraine, Norway, Spain, Taiwan, South Africa, and India.
Örsek added that IFCN was “grateful to Google and YouTube for their commitment to bolster fact-checkers in an ever-increasing environment of mis- and disinformation.”
According to the Poynter Institute, some funds will go toward a foundation to establish a “neutral and independent selection committee” and other expansions of the fact-checking program. 
The IFCN was established in 2015, and its advisory board <a href="https://ifcncodeofprinciples.poynter.org/board" target="_blank" rel="noopener">includes</a> individuals from various organizations, including PolitiFact and The Washington Post. 
Olivia Ma, who manages Google’s Global News Program and Ecosystem, said that the company believed it had a role in combating “misinformation” and guiding people toward making “informed decisions.” 
“Combating misinformation is an ongoing global challenge for society. We take seriously our role in helping to fight misinformation by continually investing in products, programs and partnerships that help people access high-quality information,” Ma said. 
Some have raised concerns about the growing emphasis on fact-checking in recent years, with critics questioning whether the motivation is to suppress conservative or differing viewpoints. For example, the theory that the novel coronavirus may have leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China, was initially widely maligned by certain fact-checkers as the origin of the respiratory virus. However, Facebook later reversed course, saying that the theory was now up for debate and had not been thoroughly discredited. At around the same time, PolitiFact <a href="https://www.politifact.com/li-meng-yan-fact-check/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">retracted</a> a fact-check it had run on the claim saying that the theory was now more “disputed.” 
This year, Brian Riedl, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a former PolitiFact source, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/meet-the-former-politifact-fact-checker-who-quit-over-left-wing-bias-wanted-me-to-help-them-nail-republicans" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> The Daily Wire that the fact-checking group wanted him to &#8220;help them nail Republicans.” Riedl also claimed PolitiFact would start with a &#8220;rating&#8221; of a claim and then work backward to justify that rating.

Fact checkers swung into action after a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/no-fing-evidence-russell-brand-blasts-biden-pfizer-after-exec-admits-covid-vaccine-was-never-tested-to-stop-transmission/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pfizer executive</a> acknowledged this week that the company never tested its COVID vaccine <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/scandalous-pfizer-exec-tells-eu-lawmaker-covid-jab-was-never-tested-to-show-it-blocked-transmission/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">against transmission</a>, but they seem to have missed the critics’ point in their rush to defend the pharmaceutical giant.
Janine Small, Pfizer’s president of international developed markets, answered no Monday when asked by European Union Member of Parliament Rob Roos if the company tested its mRNA vaccine on stopping transmission before rolling it out. The Dutch lawmaker later called it “scandalous” given that vaccine passports and mandates were pushed globally on the implication that they would stop transmission.
The &#8220;scandalous&#8221; parties Roos referred to were global governments, not Pfizer.
While there is no evidence Pfizer ever claimed its vaccine was tested for transmission, the notion that the vaccines offered such protection against the spread of COVID was seized upon by governments to compel people to get vaccinated. The distinction between individuals contracting and transmitting COVID was lost as governments sought to stop the virus from spreading.
“You’re not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations,” President Joe Biden said in July 2021. Two months earlier, White House Chief Medical Adviser <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/sunday-talk-shows/553773-fauci-vaccinated-people-become-dead-ends-for-the-coronavirus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anthony Fauci</a> said that vaccinated people become “dead ends” for the virus, and CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said in March 2021 that data from the CDC suggested that &#8220;vaccinated people do not carry the virus, don’t get sick.”

Roos said his point after Monday’s testimony was that compelling young, healthy people who were not afraid of contracting the virus themselves to nonetheless get the jab in order to ensure they did not spread it was built on a myth.
“Millions of people worldwide felt forced to get vaccinated because of the myth that ‘you do it for others,’” he said in the video, which has been viewed more than 10 million times. “Now this turned out to be a cheap lie. This should be exposed.”
Roos later told The Associated Press he was not claiming Pfizer lied, but that the foundation governments used to press for mandates was bogus.
“I take fundamental rights seriously,” Roos said. “For governments to infringe on them, they need a massive amount of evidence to prove the necessity. In this case, it was not even a part of the Pfizer trials.”
Fact checkers from The Associated Press, Politifact and other groups that have faithfully toed the government line throughout the pandemic were quick to claim that since Pfizer never said it tested its vaccine against transmission — Small’s remark was neither an “admission” nor news.
“Pfizer never claimed to have tested the impact of its COVID-19 vaccine on transmission ahead of its 2020 release, despite misleading claims suggesting the company lied about this issue,” wrote The Associated Press.
“Posts online are saying Pfizer &#8216;admitted&#8217; that the company did not test whether their COVID-19 vaccine reduced transmission prior to rolling it out – something they were not required to do, nor claimed to have done,” wrote Reuters.
But even if Pfizer never made the claim, fact checkers strong suggested it. A <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/11/17/fact-check-covid-19-vaccines-protect-against-infection-transmission/6403678001/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fact-check by USA Today</a> in November 2021, titled “Fact check: Vaccines protect against contracting, spreading COVID-19,” quoted Akiko Iwasaki, a professor of immunobiology and molecular, cellular and developmental biology at Yale University, saying the vaccine did guard against transmission.
&#8220;Vaccines provide significant protection from &#8216;getting it&#8217; – infection – and &#8216;spreading it&#8217; – transmission – even against the delta variant,&#8221; Iwasaki said.
The protection that the COVID vaccines provide to contracting the virus has also been called into question. When the mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna were first rolled out, pharmaceutical companies, government health officials and political leaders hailed them as powerful and effective. Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said in April 2021 that early testing showed its vaccine was “100 per cent effective against severe COVID-19.”
When vaccinated people began getting COVID anyway, their cases were initially deemed “breakthrough” cases. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/quadruple-vaccinated-pfizer-ceo-tests-positive-for-covid/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bourla, who got COVID in August</a>, admitted in January his company’s vaccine provides “very limited protection, if any” against contracting the Omicron variant.
Over the last year, many experts have acknowledged that the vaccines may not stop transmission or contraction of the virus, but may lessen the symptoms and prevent deaths. Even if true, say some experts, that is scant justification for vaccine mandates and passports.
“It would be irrational, legally indefensible and contrary to the public interest for government to mandate vaccines absent any evidence that the vaccines are effective in stopping the spread of the pathogen they target,” Nobel Prize-winning virologist Luc Montagnier and constitutional scholar Jed Rubenfeld <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/omicron-makes-bidens-vaccine-mandates-obsolete-covid-healthcare-osha-evidence-supreme-court-11641760009" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote earlier this year in The Wall Street Journal</a>. “Mandating a vaccine to stop the spread of a disease requires evidence that the vaccines will prevent infection or transmission (rather than efficacy against severe outcomes like hospitalization or death).”

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/meta" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Meta</a>, the parent company of Facebook, announced its own set of &#8220;policies and safeguards&#8221; to political discourse ahead of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/2022-midterms" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2022 midterms</a>.
In a <a href="https://about.fb.com/news/2022/08/meta-plans-for-2022-us-midterms/">blog post</a> Tuesday, Meta announced that it would implement a series of policies to be used in the 2022 midterm elections, policies that are &#8220;consistent&#8221; with the same policies the platform used during the 2020 election. Those policies include &#8220;Preventing Election and Voter Interference,&#8221; &#8220;Connecting People With Reliable Information,&#8221; and &#8220;Transparency Around Elections and Advertising.&#8221;
&#8220;With the 2022 US midterms on the horizon, we are setting out how our approach applies in this election cycle, which is largely consistent with the policies and safeguards we had in place during the 2020 US Presidential election,&#8221; Meta President of Global Affairs Nick Clegg wrote in the announcement.
&#8220;Our approach to the 2022 US midterms applies learnings from the 2020 election cycle and exceeds the measures we implemented during the last midterm election in 2018. This includes advanced security operations to fight foreign interference and domestic influence campaigns, our network of independent fact-checking partners, our industry-leading transparency measures around political advertising and pages, as well as new measures to help keep poll workers safe,&#8221; the announcement added.
Under the heading &#8220;Preventing Election and Voter Interference,&#8221; Meta touted its existing policies around removing hate speech, noting that it had already banned 270 white supremacist organizations and removed more than 2.5 million posts for hate speech in just the first quarter of 2022. The company then touted its relationships with state and local election officials, federal agencies and industry peers.
It went on to outline its content removal policies. &#8220;As was the case in the US in 2020, election-related content we will remove includes misinformation about the dates, locations, times, and methods of voting; misinformation about who can vote, whether a vote will be counted, and qualifications for voting; and calls for violence related to voting, voter registration, or the administration or outcome of an election. We will reject ads encouraging people not to vote or calling into question the legitimacy of the upcoming election.&#8221;
The company also announced that it would prohibit new political, electoral, and social issue ads during the final week before the election.
Meta announced additional policies under the heading &#8220;Connecting People With Reliable Information.&#8221; The company touted its continuing feature sending notifications to Facebook users with voting information, and its partnership with election officials.
Meta also announced it would be implementing Spanish-language features for voters who interact with Spanish-language content. It also outlined changes to its election fact-checking system. &#8220;We have 10 fact-checking partners in the US to address viral misinformation,&#8221; the company said. &#8220;We add warning labels to content they debunk so that people can decide for themselves what to read, trust and share. We’re also investing an additional $5 million in fact-checking and media literacy initiatives ahead of the midterms,&#8221; including fact-checking services on WhatsApp; giving money to fact checkers to increase their capacity during the elections, and developing &#8220;media literacy resources to teach people how to identify misinformation for themselves.&#8221;
The changes to Meta&#8217;s policies come as the company announced that it would <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mccarthy-blasts-decision-decreasing-reach-of-facebook-political-content" target="_blank" rel="noopener">decrease the reach</a> of political content on Facebook more broadly. Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) blasted the platform in a tweet earlier this month. &#8220;Facebook made sure no one saw the Hunter Biden laptop story before the 2020 election,&#8221; McCarthy wrote. &#8220;But now that America has record inflation, rising crime, &amp; a border crisis — all as a result of Dem policies — Facebook is shutting down more &#8216;political content&#8217; to hide the truth from Americans.&#8221;
