President Donald Trump has drawn a line in the sand over the SAVE America Act, vowing to &#8220;NEVER (EVER!)&#8221; endorse any legislator who opposes the bill.
In a Truth Social post on Tuesday, Trump characterized the legislation as a pivotal defense against &#8220;RIGGED ELECTIONS&#8221; and warned that both Democrats and recalcitrant Republicans who oppose it would lose his support, framing the vote as a litmus test for those who aren’t &#8220;sick, demented, or deranged.&#8221;

The bill, which mandates proof of citizenship to vote, also addresses the mutilation of children and biological males in women’s sports. It has become the center of a high-stakes legislative floor fight. Senate leadership remains at an impasse. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has dismissed the bill as a &#8220;Beetlejuice&#8221; algorithm designed to purge valid voters, while Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) has warned that Republicans lack the 60 votes required for cloture.
The 60-vote &#8220;cloture&#8221; threshold is required to end a filibuster. In recent years, the Senate has relied on a &#8220;silent filibuster,&#8221; which allows legislation to stall without continuous floor speeches.
Ending this tradition would prompt Democrats to deliver marathon speeches, effectively paralyzing the Senate for months. Thune resists this move because it requires Republicans to maintain a constant 51-senator quorum to prevent adjournment. If the quorum breaks, the cycle restarts, allowing Democrats to speak indefinitely. Consequently, forcing a &#8220;talking filibuster&#8221; guarantees immense legislative gridlock and logistical pain for the majority without a guaranteed path to passing the bill.
The pressure is already reshaping the political landscape. In Texas, the heated Senate primary runoff between incumbent John Cornyn and Attorney General Ken Paxton has revolved around the issue; Cornyn, a longtime defender of the 60-vote threshold, recently wrote in a New York Post op-ed that he is open to changing the Senate rules to pass the act.
Paxton, meanwhile, mocked the move as a desperate late-season conversion driven by pressure from his campaign.

Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence recently realized that regular people generally do not care what celebrities say about politics and will not vote a certain way because someone famous urges them to.
The leftist actress said as much during an episode of “The Interview” podcast, when the host mentioned a 2016 op-ed she wrote criticizing Donald Trump after he was first elected, and asked whether she wanted to speak about the president’s current policies.
“I don’t really know if I should,” Lawrence replied. “The first Trump administration was so wild, and just how can we let this stand? I felt like I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off.”
“But as we’ve learned, election after election, celebrities do not make a difference whatsoever on who people vote for. So then what am I doing? I’m just sharing my opinion on something that’s going to add fuel to a fire that’s ripping the country apart. We are so divided,” she went on.

I want to protect my craft so that you can still get lost in what I’m doing. And if I can’t say something that’s going to speak to some kind of peace or lowering the temperature or some sort of solution, I don’t want to be a part of the problem.”

“I try to express my politics through my work,” she explained. “A lot of movies coming out from my production company are expressions of the political landscape and that’s how I feel like I can be helpful.”
Lawrence has criticized Trump multiple times over the years and voiced support for the Women’s March, which was inspired by opposition to Trump.
Like most other major celebrities, Lawrence endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in 2024, <a href="https://people.com/jennifer-lawrence-endorses-kamala-harris-womens-rights-documentaries-exclusive-8717082">telling</a> People magazine at the time that she mostly made that choice because of “abortion being on the ballot.”
“That&#8217;s the most important thing, is to not let somebody into the White House who is going to ban abortion,” she said at the time.

President Donald Trump railed against former Vice President Kamala Harris in a social media post on Saturday, claiming that she paid for several of her big-name endorsements — namely singer Beyoncé and longtime television host Oprah Winfrey — in her failed bid to win the presidency in 2024.
In a post originally shared via his Truth Social platform, the president argued that paying for political endorsements was illegal and said that all of those involved — whether they were paying or taking payments for those endorsements — should be investigated and prosecuted.

While it is documented that a number of celebrities — including Winfrey and Beyoncé — received payments through their production companies, ostensibly for operating costs, they have denied being paid simply to appear.
&#8220;I did not take any personal fee. However, the people who worked on that production needed to be paid and were. End of story,&#8221; Winfrey said in May.
Tina Knowles, Beyoncé&#8217;s mother, said it was a &#8220;lie&#8221; that her daughter was paid to appear on behalf of the Harris campaign.

Hollywood star Zachary Levi endorsed former President Donald Trump on Saturday, saying he would “take back this country” and “make it great again.”
The “Shazam” actor made his endorsement on stage at a Trump rally in Michigan, telling audiences how he came to embrace Trump after first supporting Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
“For a long time, I was like, ‘Man, I really want to find a politician that represents all of the things that I want and I want to see in a presidential candidate,’” Levi said, “And this year, I found Bobby Kennedy, and I thought, ‘Man, this guy is it. He’s the real deal.’ And in a perfect world, whatever that would look like, perhaps I would have voted for Bobby.”
Levi, who rose to fame as the titular character in NBC’s “Chuck,” told audiences that Kennedy&#8217;s and former Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard&#8217;s support of Trump made him realize that the former president was the best choice to lead the country.
“I stand with Bobby, and I stand with Tulsi, and I stand with everyone else who is standing with President Trump. Because I do believe, of the two choices that we have, and we only have two, Donald Trump, President Trump is the man that can get us there,” Levi said, before introducing Gabbard and Kennedy.
In his remarks, Levi noted that he was raised in a “Christian conservative” household and recalled learning from his parents “to have a healthy level of distrust for the government and a healthy level of distrust for industry that runs amok.”
“We’re here to make sure that we are going to take back this country, we are going to make it great again, we are going to make it healthy again,” Levi said.
A growing number of voters are turning to Trump after the former president took up Kennedy’s pledge to tackle chronic disease and other health issues that plague the country. Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley gave her “strong endorsement” to former President Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Tuesday evening.
Haley was a last-minute addition to the RNC’s lineup, with the announcement that she would attend coming a day after Trump narrowly survived an assassination attempt at a Saturday campaign rally in western Pennsylvania. Last week, Haley, who was Trump’s last major Republican opponent in the 2024 presidential race, directed her delegates to support Trump and called for unity.
“President Trump asked me to speak to this convention in the name of unity. It was a gracious invitation and I was happy to accept. I’ll start by making one thing perfectly clear: Donald Trump has my strong endorsement, period,” Haley said upon taking the stage.

Haley’s endorsement received thunderous applause at the convention, with the crowd chanting Trump’s name in response. Haley then directed her message at those voters skeptical of Trump, a contingent she was seen to represent late in the Republican primary.
“My message to them is simple. You don’t have to agree with Trump 100% of the time to vote for him,” Haley said. “I haven’t always agreed with President Trump, but we agree more often than we disagree.” 
“We agree on keeping America strong. We agree on keeping America safe. And we agree that Democrats have moved so far to the Left that they’re putting our freedoms in danger,” she continued. “We have a country to save, and a unified Republican Party is essential for saving her.”
Haley’s endorsement came alongside a speech by another major primary opponent of Trump: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The speeches by Trump’s former opponents rallying around the former president for a second term in the White House contrasts starkly with the divisions that have exploded among Democrats in recent weeks.
President Joe Biden’s campaign struck back at Haley’s endorsement, citing harsh criticisms that Haley had leveled against Trump in the past.
“Ambassador Haley said it best herself: someone who doesn’t respect our military, doesn’t know right from wrong, and ‘surrounds himself in chaos’ can’t be president,” the Biden campaign said in a <a href="https://x.com/BidenHQ/status/1813395217044721996" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> before making an appeal to the voters Haley addressed in her RNC speech.

Steve Schwarzman, the CEO and co-founder of Blackstone, a private equity and real estate firm, blasted President Joe Biden&#8217;s policies on multiple issues when he threw his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-regains-support-from-key-gop-billionaire-megadonor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">support</a> behind presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump on Friday.
Schwarzman, who is Jewish, told <a href="https://www.axios.com/2024/05/24/trump-2024-stephen-schwarzman-blackstone" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Axios</a> on Friday that the &#8220;dramatic rise of anti-Semitism has led me to focus on the consequences of upcoming elections with greater urgency.&#8221; The 77-year-old businessman added that the Biden administration&#8217;s policies on the economy, immigration, and foreign affairs &#8220;are taking the country in the wrong direction.&#8221;
&#8220;For these reasons, I am planning to vote for change and support Donald Trump for president,&#8221; he said. &#8220;In addition, I will be supporting Republican Senate candidates and other Republicans up and down the ticket.&#8221;
The billionaire has previously supported moderate Republicans and was close to Trump during the former president&#8217;s time in the White House, but following the GOP&#8217;s disappointing performance in the 2022 midterm elections, Schwarzman said that it was time for the Republican Party to move past Trump and &#8220;turn to a new generation of leaders.&#8221;
After Trump easily won the Republican presidential primary against numerous candidates, however, Schwarzman is again backing the former president.
Schwarzman has donated tens of millions of dollars to Republican candidates, including Trump, in the past. He also was the chairman of President Trump&#8217;s Strategic and Policy Forum for the first seven months of Trump&#8217;s term in office.
Jon Gray, Blackstone&#8217;s COO and president and the heir apparent to Schwarzman, has endorsed Biden&#8217;s re-election bid and donates to Democratic candidates, Axios reported.
Schwarzman&#8217;s endorsement of Trump comes as President Biden faces criticism for his policies on numerous issues, especially on illegal immigration and the Israel-Hamas war. &#8220;As a political independent and centrist for many years, I&#8217;ve voted for Democrats in the past and as well as Republican[s],&#8221; Johnson wrote on social media. &#8220;In this critical election, I believe Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the best to lead our country, and as my first ever (public) Presidential endorsement, I proudly endorse them for the presidential office of our United States.&#8221;
The actor appeared in a video chat with Biden and Harris to announce his endorsement.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis criticized former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley this week for not endorsing former President Donald Trump in her <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nikki-haley-drops-out-does-not-endorse-trump">speech</a> announcing that she was dropping out of the Republican Party presidential primary.
DeSantis, who was Trump&#8217;s top challenger for most of the primary season until he dropped out of the race after a second-place finish in Iowa, made the remarks Wednesday night during a Newsmax interview with Eric Bolling.
&#8220;I signed the pledge and you signed the pledge saying that you&#8217;re gonna not take your ball and go home,&#8221; DeSantis said. &#8220;And so I honored the pledge, and she&#8217;s gonna have to make a decision about whether she wants to or not, but the idea that somehow circumstances have changed, I think we all knew what we were doing when we did that, and you got to make a judgment about whether that&#8217;s meaningful to you.&#8221;
&#8220;And so for me, I tell people, you know, if I say I&#8217;m going to do something, I&#8217;m going to do it,&#8221; he added.
DeSantis also weighed in on Haley&#8217;s strategy during the race, saying she &#8220;waged a campaign on the idea that you can somehow win the Republican nomination for president by getting the votes of mostly just non-Republicans.&#8221;
&#8220;And that just doesn&#8217;t work. And we saw that play out in Iowa,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And I said at the time that she didn&#8217;t have a pathway. So I&#8217;m glad we&#8217;re all through that process. And, you know, now we&#8217;re in a situation where Republicans are staring down the barrel of a President Biden, who&#8217;s clearly not up to the job. &#8230; If you compare him to 2020, to now, I mean, the guy has clearly slowed down dramatically, his policies have not worked. So now&#8217;s the time for that to be the focus.&#8221;

The second-ranking <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/u-s-senate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senate</a> Republican <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/endorsement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">endorsed</a> former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> on Sunday as Trump&#8217;s delegate lead over GOP rival <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nikki-haley" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nikki Haley</a> continues to grow, paving the way toward a 2020 rematch against President Joe Biden.
Sen. John Thune (R-SD), who is the minority whip, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/john-thune-endorses-trump-2024-republican-primary" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shared his decision with Fox News</a> after Trump emerged victorious in the GOP primary in Haley&#8217;s home state of South Carolina by <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/02/24/us/elections/results-south-carolina-republican-primary.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">roughly 20 points</a> this weekend.
&#8220;The primary results in South Carolina make clear that Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee for president in this year’s pivotal presidential election,&#8221; Thune said. &#8220;The choice before the American people is crystal clear: It’s Donald Trump or Joe Biden.&#8221;
Following Haley&#8217;s defeat on Saturday in South Carolina, where she served as governor before a stint as Trump&#8217;s U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Haley told supporters she was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/no-labels-chief-expresses-interest-in-haley-joining-ticket" target="_blank" rel="noopener">not ready to bow out of the race</a> as other leading GOP challengers have done.
With the completion of contests in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, the Virgin Islands and South Carolina, Trump <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/us/elections/republican-primary-delegates-tracker-calendar.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has 107 delegates</a> while Haley has 17. A candidate needs 1,215 delegates to win the nomination.
Trump has secured endorsements from more than half of the Republicans in the Senate. And he has endorsements from at least 132 House Republicans — including <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/no-2-house-republican-scalise-endorses-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">top members of their leadership</a> — and 11 governors, <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/3942482-2024-gop-primary-endorsements/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to The Hill&#8217;s tracker</a>.
Haley has endorsements from Rep. <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/02/23/trump-nikki-haley-ralph-norman-00142431" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ralph Norman</a> (R-SC) as well as Govs. Phil Scott (R-VT) and Chris Sununu (R-NH). She has no endorsements in the Senate.
Thune follows Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/john-barrasso-becomes-20th-gop-senator-to-endorse-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">John Barrasso</a> (R-WY), the No. 3 GOP lawmaker in the upper chamber, in backing Trump. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is the only one within the Senate&#8217;s <a href="https://www.senate.gov/senators/leadership.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">top three members</a> of Republican leadership who had not endorsed Trump as of press time. Thune previously backed Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), who has since suspended his 2024 campaign and endorsed Trump.
&#8220;I support former President Trump&#8217;s campaign to win the presidency, and I intend to do everything I can to see that he has a Republican majority in the Senate working with him to restore American strength at home and abroad,&#8221; Thune said.

Last week, Trump won the Iowa caucuses while Haley came in third place, right behind Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.  Hutchinson, who finished a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/01/15/us/elections/results-iowa-caucus.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">distant sixth place</a> in Iowa and got no delegates, suspended his campaign soon afterward and applauded Trump for his victory.
“I congratulate Donald J. Trump for his win last night in Iowa and to the other candidates who competed and garnered delegate support,” Hutchinson <a href="https://twitter.com/brianneDMR/status/1747283577924927559">said</a>.  “Today, I am suspending my campaign for President and driving back to Arkansas. My message of being a principled Republican with experience and telling the truth about the current front runner did not sell in Iowa.&#8221;
Hutchinson made headlines in the days that followed after the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/democratic-national-committee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Democratic National Committee (DNC)</a> dismayed people in the &#8220;Never Trump&#8221; crowd with a statement saying, &#8220;This news comes as a shock to those of us who could&#8217;ve sworn he had already dropped out.&#8221; The White House followed suit by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-white-house-apologizes-to-hutchinson-for-dnc-swipe" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issuing an apology</a> to Hutchinson.

New Hampshire&#8217;s GOP primary is next on Tuesday, where polling shows Trump in the lead but Haley catching up as the day nears. As of Sunday, the RealClearPolitics <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/republican-primary/2024/new-hampshire" target="_blank" rel="noopener">average of polls shows</a> Trump with 50.3% support and Haley getting 35.5%. The <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/republican-primary/2024/south-carolina" target="_blank" rel="noopener">polls in South Carolina</a>, which has its GOP primary on February 24, so far show Trump with a bigger advantage over Haley. DeSantis rounds out the top three in polls for both states.
Though Haley has the endorsement of New Hampshire GOP Governor Chris Sununu, Trump has the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/arkansas-gov-sarah-sanders-endorses-trump-at-florida-rally-everybodys-favorite-president" target="_blank" rel="noopener">endorsement</a> of current Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who served as his press secretary in the White House. Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), another former rival who dropped out of the 2024 race, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/sen-tim-scott-endorses-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> his support for Trump on Friday.

Former Maryland GOP Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/larry-hogan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Larry Hogan</a> endorsed former South Carolina Governor and United Nations Ambassador <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nikki-haley" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nikki Haley</a> for president on the eve of the Iowa caucuses, calling her the &#8220;best possible candidate&#8221; for the Republican Party in November.
Hogan told CNN on Sunday that he thinks &#8220;it&#8217;s pretty clear&#8221; that former President Donald Trump will win Iowa — as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/iowa-gop-caucus-all-the-final-polls" target="_blank" rel="noopener">polling leading up to</a> the first-in-the-nation caucuses has indicated. &#8220;So it&#8217;s really about the fight for second place,&#8221; Hogan said.
Florida Governor &#8220;Ron DeSantis has put all the marbles on Iowa and spent all of his time and money and seems to be going in the wrong direction. I think Nikki Haley&#8217;s got all the momentum. And what this race is really all about is to try to nominate the strongest possible nominee for November,&#8221; he continued.
Over the past several months, <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/republican-primary/2024/iowa-caucus" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RealClearPolitics (RCP) shows Haley&#8217;s polling average</a> gradually ticked up to second place at 18.8% over the 15.7% for DeSantis. Some of the most recent polls have shown her with an edge over DeSantis, while other surveys indicate a dead heat between Haley and DeSantis. Haley&#8217;s hold on second place is even stronger in New Hampshire, where her <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/republican-primary/2024/new-hampshire" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RCP polling average sits at 29.3%,</a> 14.2 points behind Trump.
&#8220;I&#8217;m convinced that the momentum is with Nikki Haley, that she has the potential of moving into second place, although it be at a distant second place, which gives her momentum heading into New Hampshire,&#8221; Hogan said, adding that Haley could possibly win the Granite State, &#8220;which would put her in a much better position when she moves into her home state of South Carolina.&#8221;

Hogan, who recently stoked speculation about a <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-01-11/larry-hogan-steps-down-from-no-labels-fueling-talk-of-2024-run" target="_blank" rel="noopener">potential third-party bid</a> following his <a href="https://apnews.com/article/larry-hogan-no-labels-president-554bf06459270be3b62724ede6fc8099" target="_blank" rel="noopener">departure</a> from the No Labels group, declared his belief in Haley&#8217;s chances to win the GOP nomination in the days after another Republican, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chris-christie-drops-out-of-2024-presidential-race" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dropped out</a> of the race.
&#8220;I have been saying since last spring when I made the decision not to run that I really did not want to see a multi-car pile-up that would just enable Donald Trump,&#8221; Hogan said. &#8220;I think we want to have the strongest possible nominee in November.&#8221;
Hogan appeared to reference <a href="https://s.wsj.net/public/resources/documents/WSJ_Poll_Dec_2023.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a Wall Street Journal poll</a> released in December showing Haley with a 17-point advantage over President Joe Biden, who is seeking re-election, while Biden facing off against Trump or DeSantis was a much closer race. Other <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-desantis-haley-would-all-beat-biden-new-poll-finds">recent polling</a> indicates that the Journal survey was an outlier and that the gaps among the three candidates are much slimmer.
&#8220;So, yes, I think it&#8217;s time for the party to get behind Nikki Haley,&#8221; Hogan said. &#8220;My friend Chris Christie dropped out of the race in New Hampshire. I appreciate his effort. But I believe that Nikki Haley is the strongest chance for us to put forth our best possible candidate for November.”
