On Sunday, FBI agents at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City arrested a 28-year-old man charged with &#8220;attempting to destroy, by means of fire or explosive&#8221; a United States Embassy office in Tel Aviv, Israel, according to federal authorities.
Joseph Neumayer, who is a dual citizen of both the United States and Germany, was initially arrested in Israel and deported to the United States. He then received a detention order from U.S. Magistrate Judge Peggy Kuo of the Eastern District of New York.
According to the press release posted by the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Sunday, Neumayer arrived in Israel in April and his first documented interaction with Israeli authorities came on May 19, when he allegedly spat on an Embassy guard.
&#8220;As alleged in the complaint, Neumayer arrived in Israel in April 2025. On May 19, Neumeyer, 28, arrived outside of the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv carrying a dark-colored backpack. Without provocation Neumeyer spit on an Embassy guard as he walked past. Neumeyer managed to break free as the guard attempted to detain him, leaving behind his backpack,&#8221; the DOJ said.
&#8220;A search of Neumeyer’s backpack revealed three rudimentary improvised incendiary devices commonly known as Molotov cocktails. Law enforcement tracked Neumeyer to his hotel, where he was arrested,&#8221; the DOJ added. &#8220;Neumeyer’s social media revealed that earlier in the day on May 19, he posted, &#8216;join me as I burn down the embassy in Tel Aviv. Death to America, death to Americans, and f*** the west.'&#8221;
DOJ continued: &#8220;Law enforcement authorities confirmed the presence of flammable fluid in the devices. Other social media posts from an account believed to be used by Neumeyer revealed his threats to assassinate President Trump. On May 25, Israeli authorities returned Neumeyer to the United States.&#8221;
Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement: &#8220;This defendant is charged with planning a devastating attack targeting our embassy in Israel, threatening death to Americans, and President Trump’s life. The Department will not tolerate such violence and will prosecute this defendant to the fullest extent of the law.”

&#8220;As alleged, Neumeyer, armed with potentially lethal devices, sought to cause chaos and destruction at the U.S.Embassy in Tel Aviv. His arrest and prosecution clearly show that my Office and the Department of Justice will not tolerate violence in our homeland or violence targeting U.S. interests abroad,&#8221; said U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella for the Eastern District of New York.
According to the DOJ release: &#8220;If convicted, Neumeyer faces a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of 20 years in prison, and a maximum fine in the amount of $250,000. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.&#8221;

The authors of a book detailing the behind-the-scenes story of Donald Trump’s decision to move the United States embassy in Israel to Jerusalem weighed in on what a future Trump administration will mean for U.S.-Israel relations.
In their book, “Because It’s Just and Right,” Farley Weiss and Leonard Grunstein chronicle the story behind one of Trump’s most significant foreign policy moves. Now, as Trump prepares to return to office in January, the two authors offer unique insights about how his second term may further redefine and strengthen U.S.-Israel relations.
“You&#8217;re going to be seeing a whole different world, a much more peaceful world now with the Trump administration,” said Weiss.
Weiss and Grunstein both predict that a key priority of the Trump administration will be to expand the Abraham Accords.
“I think you’re going to see many countries become part of the Abraham Accords and you’re going to just see a whole different dynamic,” said Weiss.
He added that the Abraham Accords will be able to broaden because the United States will refocus on countering the Islamic Republic of Iran and their proxies, including Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis.
Grunstein said that he hopes these actions will pave the way for a “Cyrus Accords” agreement — named after Cyrus the Great, who liberated the Jews from captivity and allowed them to return to Israel in 538 B.C. — between Israel and the free people of Iran.
“It&#8217;s natural for the free people of Iran to come together. And this new axis of evil that’s developed will be dismembered in effect, and it will usher in a new age of peace and prosperity in the world,” said Grunstein.
Both Grunstein and Weiss believe that more countries will be emboldened to follow Trump’s lead and move their embassies to Jerusalem. So far, Guatemala, Honduras, Kosovo, and Papua New Guinea have made the move. Argentina has indicated that it will follow suit, with some speculation that Hungary is considering the move as well.
Because It’s Just and Right, named from the remarks for former Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ), who championed the Jerusalem Embassy Act in 1995. Weiss himself was instrumental in the act’s passage, after being asked by Kyl to serve as an advisor because of his credentials as the president of Young Israel of Phoenix, a prominent synagogue.
The act set a May 31, 1999 deadline for the embassy move. But Presidents Bill Clinton, George Bush, and Barack Obama used a provision in the law allowing them to sign successive six-month waivers to push off the embassy relocation. Trump also pushed the move at first.
The embassy relocation finally occurred after a debate within Trump’s inner circle. At the time, U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, Vice President Mike Pence, and others prevailed over opposition from Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Secretary of Defense James Mattis, according to Weiss and Grunstein.
Weiss and Grunstein recount the historical case for Jerusalem being Israel’s capital, and make the case that it is a moral action. It details the many policies, actors and political realities that afforded for the change to happen.
Weiss’s and Grunstein’s predictions are predicated on the lessons learned from Trump moving the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in 2018.
During the first administration, Trump was not surrounded by people entirely convinced of his foreign policy objectives, especially with regard to Israel. This time around, Weiss says Trump will have supporters of a strong U.S.-Israel relationship such as Rep. Elise Stefanik as the U.N. Ambassador, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio in his corner — assuming their appointments are confirmed.
“President Trump did not have people ideologically with him in some of his main advisors, the Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense Tillerson, Mattis and even his national security advisor,” Weiss said. “Now, everybody is aligned with him and the policies.”

A Wednesday morning attack on the U.S. Embassy in Beirut was foiled by Lebanese soldiers who shot and captured one gunman — a Syrian national who appeared to be an Islamic jihadist. One embassy security guard was reportedly injured in the attack.
The Lebanese military released a statement saying its forces shot one assailant and released photos of the bloodied alleged attacker that showed him wearing a black vest with the words &#8220;Islamic State&#8221; written in Arabic and letters &#8220;IS&#8221; written in English, the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/lebanon-us-embassy-attack-mideast-gaza-war-437056f046228d5ef6004ca46adb68c0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Lebanon is directly north of Israel and is the home of the Islamic terror group Hezbollah, which launched an <a href="https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/israel-and-hezbollah-move-closer-to-full-scale-war-988b3bfc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">attack</a> on Israel one day after Hamas&#8217; October 7 terror attack that killed more than 1,200 people, including Americans.
&#8220;At 8:34 a.m. local time, small arms fire was reported in the vicinity of the entrance to the U.S. Embassy. Thanks to the quick reaction of the [Lebanese Armed Forces], [Internal Security Forces], and our Embassy security team, our facility and our team are safe,&#8221; the U.S. Embassy Beirut <a href="https://x.com/usembassybeirut/status/1798240030512607534" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> on X. &#8220;Investigations are underway and we are in close contact with host country law enforcement.&#8221;
An embassy spokesman said information about the injured security guard could not be released at this time &#8220;with respect to his privacy,&#8221; adding, &#8220;we wish him a full recovery.&#8221;
Last September, a man was detained by Lebanese forces after he similarly opened fire on the U.S. Embassy in Beirut. No one was injured in that attack, according to the AP. A month later, after Hamas launched its attack on Israel, hundreds of Lebanese demonstrators supporting Hamas clashed with police near the U.S. Embassy.
Since Hamas&#8217; October 7 attack and Hezbollah&#8217;s attacks in the days and weeks following, Israel has carried out strikes inside of Lebanon taking out top Hamas and Hezbollah leaders and military facilities. Lebanon is home to many people who hold anti-American and anti-Israel sentiments.

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut has been subjected to attacks for decades. In 1983, a Hezbollah <a href="https://www.defense.gov/News/News-Stories/Article/Article/3566652/us-remembers-service-members-killed-in-beirut-bombings-40-years-ago/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bombing</a> on a U.S. barracks killed 241 U.S. service members and 58 French military and civilian personnel. Another attack in 1983 targeted the U.S. embassy, killing 63 people, including 17 Americans. The violence forced the U.S. to move its embassy from central Beirut to the suburb of Aukar, which was hit with another bombing attack just a year later that killed 23 people, including two American soldiers.

On Tuesday, House Republicans demanded the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/state-department" target="_blank" rel="noopener">State Department</a> offer an explanation for the &#8220;trend&#8221; of U.S. embassy closures and staff evacuations during the past few years of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/biden-administration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Biden administration</a>.
Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) sent a letter to Secretary of State <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/antony-blinken" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Antony Blinken</a> requesting a briefing on how the United States can meet its foreign policy objectives with a &#8220;diminished diplomatic presence&#8221; in &#8220;high-threat&#8221; countries.
The chairman noted the State Department has been &#8220;forced to reduce or suspend operations at several posts across the globe since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021, including in Burma, Afghanistan, Belarus, Russia, Sudan, and Niger.&#8221;

&#8220;These closures and service reductions are leading to a diminished U.S. diplomatic presence abroad,&#8221; Comer said. &#8220;Closures and reduced service status have serious implications for U.S. citizens residing in those countries, as well as foreign nationals who must travel elsewhere to access consular services.&#8221;
Comer said his committee is &#8220;also concerned about the repeated necessity of withdrawing U.S. personnel, and whether deteriorating conditions in those countries are the result, even in part, of failed U.S. foreign policy.&#8221;

&#8220;Briefers should specifically be prepared to identify and discuss all embassies or consulate posts experiencing closures or reduced services, other high-threat posts not currently in closure or reduced status, actions being taken to secure embassy personnel and assets at these high-threat posts, contingency plans to respond in emergency situations, an assessment of why this trend has occurred, and an assessment of whether this trend will continue,&#8221; Comer said.
&#8220;Briefers should also be prepared to discuss the impact of closures or reduced service status on national security, the administration and oversight of U.S. foreign assistance, and the Department’s ongoing ability to effectuate U.S. interests abroad,&#8221; he added.
The Daily Wire reached out to the State Department seeking comment.
In response, an agency spokesperson said the department does not comment on congressional correspondence as a &#8220;general matter.&#8221;

More U.S. embassies have been forced to evacuate under President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a> than any other president in U.S. history, according to a new analysis.
The news comes after the Biden administration was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/u-s-military-evacuates-embassy-staff-in-haiti-as-yet-another-country-erupts-in-turmoil-under-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">forced</a> to send in the military to evacuate the U.S. embassy in Haiti last week as the after gangs freed thousands of violent criminals from prison in the country&#8217;s capital, pushing the country to the brink of total collapse.
An analysis from The Daily Signal found that a total of 11 embassies have been evacuated under Biden, more than any other president in U.S. history.

A man was hospitalized after setting himself on fire outside of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, according to officials.

An adult male was transported by DC Fire and EMS to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. MPD is working with the Secret Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives  to investigate the incident, MPD said.
MPD’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) has also been requested to the scene in reference to a suspicious vehicle that may be connected to the individual, the department said, adding that there &#8220;remains an active investigation at this time.&#8221;
The Israeli Embassy also provided a <a href="https://twitter.com/gekaminsky/status/1761842423213207582" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> to The Washington Examiner.
&#8220;On Sunday, 2/25, at around 1 PM, a man set himself on fire outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington DC,&#8221; the embassy said. &#8220;The man was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The man is unknown. No Embassy staff were injured and are safe.&#8221;
Officials did not immediately comment on a potential motive, but the incident comes as Israel fights against Hamas in the Gaza Strip following the group&#8217;s terrorist attacks on Israeli soil in October that killed an estimated 1,200 people.
There has been <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/4488153-us-worries-grow-over-netanyahus-expected-rafah-invasion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">some tension</a> between the Biden administration and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about plans for an offensive in Gaza&#8217;s southern city of Rafah, where it is estimated that more than half the strip&#8217;s 2.3 million population have gathered during the conflict.
Netanyahu <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/benjamin-netanyahu-israel-prime-minister-face-the-nation-transcript-02-25-2024/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told CBS</a> on Sunday a potential deal to secure the release of hostages could delay the Rafah operation, but he insisted that &#8220;total victory&#8221; over Hamas is Israel&#8217;s ultimate objective.
&#8220;I&#8217;ve set three war goals. The first is to release the hostages. The second is to destroy Hamas. And the third is to ensure that Gaza does not pose a threat to Israel in the future. And obviously, the three are intertwined,&#8221; he said on &#8220;Face the Nation.&#8221;

Milei <a href="https://www.jewishpress.com/news/israel/jerusalem/argentinas-president-arrives-in-israel-reiterates-vow-to-move-embassy-to-jerusalem/2024/02/06/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">arrived in Israel</a> with Argentina’s Foreign Minister Diana Mondino, the Secretary General of the Presidency Karina Elizabeth Milei, and Rabbi Axel Wahnish, whom he has chosen to be Argentina’s Ambassador to Israel.
In late November, Milei arrived in the United States, where before he even met with U.S. officials or the International Monetary Fund, he went straight to the grave of the late Chabad-Lubavitch leader Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson to pay his respects. Prior to leaving Argentina, Milei had joined Rabbi David Pinto Shlita — who gave him and his mother a blessing — in Buenos Aires for the Havdalah ceremony marking the end of the Jewish Sabbath.
“I celebrate this beautiful country, Argentina, and I ask God to protect the Argentine Nation so that it returns to what it was before. I am sure that with God&#8217;s help you will help the Nation and, with the people of Argentina, you will achieve it,” Pinto Shilta <a href="https://www.lanacion.com.ar/politica/javier-milei-asistio-a-una-ceremonia-judia-y-recibio-la-bendicion-de-un-reconocido-rabino-nid26112023/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Milei, who responded, &#8220;Thank you, thank you, Rabbi.” The rabbi told Milei’s sister, “We pray to God to protect him in everything he needs.”
Argentina has the largest Jewish population in South America, roughly 220,000 people.
Milei visited Schneerson’s grave in July, where he visited the tomb of the Lubavitch rabbi and requested a blessing before the election that took place earlier this week. Schneerson, the leader of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, was a tireless pioneer for Jewish outreach; there are currently over 1,400 Chabad-Lubavitch <a href="https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/rabbi-menachem-mendel-schneerson-jewish-virtual-library" target="_blank" rel="noopener">institutions</a> in 35 countries on six continents.

“The truth is that I did not get to know the Rebbe personally, but just in the last year I had the privilege of visiting the Rebbe&#8217;s grave twice,” Milei, who amazed the world by winning the presidential election in a landslide, stated. “There I asked for his holy blessing to be elected president of Argentina and this blessing became a reality this week.”
Milei, who <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/world/javier-milei-crushes-argentine-left-becomes-worlds-first-libertarian-head-state" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pledged</a> that Argentina&#8217;s two key allies would be the United States and Israel, gave his first foreign press interview to the Hasidic newspaper, “Kfar Chabad.” He <a href="https://www.ynetnews.com/article/rygn11btna" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, “From what I&#8217;ve learned about the history of the Jewish people, their survival against all odds, and the divine protection they&#8217;ve received, I&#8217;m certain they will continue to prevail. My message is to keep faith in God, stay strong and united. Eventually, the world will realize the enduring truth — the nation of Israel lives on!”
