<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lisa-marie-presley">Lisa Marie Presley</a> explained in her memoir why she decided to keep the body of her son Benjamin in her home for two months following his death.
The late daughter of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Elvis Presley</a> made the revelation in her memoir, which was published posthumously by her daughter, Riley Keough. &#8220;There is no law in the state of California that you have to bury someone immediately,&#8221; Presley wrote in the book, “From Here to the Great Unknown.” 
&#8220;Having my dad in the house after he died was incredibly helpful because I could go and spend time with him and talk to him,&#8221; she continued, per <a href="https://people.com/lisa-marie-presley-kept-son-body-on-dry-ice-for-2-months-after-death-8724730">People</a>. 
&#8220;That was part of why it took so long,&#8221; Presley wrote. &#8220;I got so used to him, caring for him and keeping him there. I think it would scare the living f***ing piss out of anybody else to have their son there like that. But not me.&#8221;
Benjamin, nicknamed Ben Ben by his family, died by suicide in 2020 when he was 27 years old. 
Presley explained, “My house has a separate casitas bedroom, and I kept Ben Ben in there for two months &#8230; I found a very empathic funeral home owner.” 
She <a href="https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/lisa-marie-presley-son-benjamin-body-ice-two-months-death-grief-1235796599/">continued</a>, “I told her that having my dad in the house after he died was incredibly helpful because I could go and spend time with him and talk to him. She said, ‘We’ll bring Ben Ben [her nickname for her son] to you. You can have him there.&#8217;”
&#8220;I felt so fortunate that there was a way that I could still parent him, delay it a bit longer so that I could become okay with laying him to rest,&#8221; she wrote.
Keough wrote that it was &#8220;really important&#8221; for her mom to &#8220;have ample time to say goodbye to him, the same way she&#8217;d done with her dad.”
The room with Benjamin’s body was reportedly kept at 55 degrees. Keough also related the experience of a tattoo artist coming over so both mother and daughter could get ink that matched Benjamin&#8217;s. When the artist, who came to the house, asked if he could see a photo to copy, Lisa Marie allegedly said, &#8220;No, but I can show you.”
 “Lisa Marie Presley had just asked this poor man to look at the body of her dead son, which happened to be right next to us in the casitas. I&#8217;ve had an extremely absurd life, but this moment is in the top five,&#8221; Lisa Marie’s daughter wrote of the experience. 
Presley died in 2023 of a small bowel obstruction caused by complications from previous weight loss surgery.

In the new memoir “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Here-Great-Lisa-Marie-Presley/dp/0593733878" target="_blank" rel="noopener">From Here to the Great Unknown</a>” &#8212; written by Lisa Marie and completed by her daughter actress Riley Keough &#8212; the late star opened up about becoming addicted to the painkillers after giving birth to her twins in 2008, Finley and Harper, with ex-husband Michael, <a href="https://people.com/lisa-marie-presley-would-take-80-pills-during-her-opioid-addiction-8724749">People magazine</a> reported. Presley died in January 2023 at the age of 54 from complications from prior bariatric surgery.
&#8220;It escalated to 80 pills a day,&#8221; Lisa Marie wrote. &#8220;It took more and more to get high, and I honestly don&#8217;t know when your body decides it can&#8217;t deal with it anymore. But it does decide at some point.&#8221;
The late star said her opioid use was &#8220;recreational” for a few years, until &#8220;it wasn&#8217;t.&#8221;

Keough wrote that her mom first became addicted to the narcotics while dealing with the pain of her C-section from having the twins. Her addiction progressed from using the opioids to help her “sleep,&#8221; but she began to feel “shame” about becoming an addict with two young kids.

The 35-year-old actress wrote that, even when her mom was court-ordered to go to a rehab center, she “didn&#8217;t feel” her mom “was ready to be sober.” She also wrote that after her mom’s rehab stint, Lisa Marie did stop using opioids, but was still getting high on the &#8220;post-rehab cocktail.&#8221;
Keough previously opened up about how “incredibly painful” it was making her late mother’s final wish a reality, by completing Presley’s memoir.
“Because my mother was Elvis Presley’s daughter, she was constantly talked about, argued over and dissected,” Keough explained.
“What she wanted to do in her memoir, and what I hope I’ve done in finishing it for her, is to go beneath the magazine headline idea of her and reveal the core of who she was,” she added. “To turn her into a three-dimensional human being: the best mother, a wild child, a fierce friend, an underrated artist, frank, funny, traumatized, joyous, grieving, everything that she was throughout her remarkable life.”
“I want to give voice to my mother in a way that eluded her while she was alive,” Riley continued. “I hope that in an extraordinary circumstance, people relate to a very human experience of love, heartbreak, loss, addiction and family. The actress said in order to finish her mom’s memoir, she listened to hours and hours of memories her mom had recorded on tapes of her life as the daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, her romantic relationships, motherhood to Riley and her brother Benjamin, who died in 2020 at the age of 27, and later as a grandma to Keough’s daughter, Tupelo.

“The tapes are an incredible portrait of the force of nature that she was,” Riley said. “Depending on the day and her mood, she can sound locked-in or distracted, vulnerable and open or annoyed and closed off, hopeful, angry, everything. You hear her in all her complications.”
“I hope that in an extraordinary circumstance, people relate to a very human experience of love, heartbreak, loss, addiction and family,” she added of the book. “[My mom] wanted to write a book in the hopes that someone could read her story and relate to her, to know that they’re not alone in the world. Her hope with this book was just human connection. So that’s mine.”
Priscilla confirmed Lisa Marie’s death on January 12, hours after she was rushed to a hospital, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lisa-marie-presley-daughter-of-elvis-presley-dead-at-54">reported</a>.
“My beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” a statement from her mother read. “She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment.”
“From Here to the Great Unknown,” by Keough and Presley, comes out October 8, the outlet noted.

An alleged scammer has stepped forward to take credit for the attempted foreclosure of Graceland, the estate of the late rock and roll icon <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/elvis-presley">Elvis Presley</a>.
Earlier this month, Naussany Investments and Private Lending LLC claimed the right to auction off Graceland to settle an outstanding debt. The impending sale was later halted in court after a judge determined that the ownership documents were likely forged. 
Now, an individual identifying as a “Nigerian scammer” is taking credit for the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">incident</a>, per <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/05/29/us-news/nigerian-scammer-takes-credit-for-bizarre-graceland-auction-scare-i-had-fun/">The New York Post</a>. 
“We figure out how to steal. That’s what we do,” the person reportedly wrote while interviewed by the New York Times. The interview was translated from Luganda, a language spoken in Uganda. 
“I had fun figuring this one out and it didn’t succeed very well,” the alleged scammer said.
During the interview, the person reportedly spoke about targeting elderly victims and other vulnerable groups for financial scams. 
Naussany Investments and Private Lending LLC presented documents claiming that Elvis’ daughter, the late Lisa Marie, had borrowed $3.8 million and put up Graceland as collateral prior to her death in January 2023. Lisa Marie’s daughter, Riley Keough, owns Graceland now that her mother has passed. Keough headed to court to dispute the foreclosure filing earlier in May. 
Keough called the foreclosure documents “fraudulent,” while her grandmother, Elvis’ ex-wife Priscilla Presley, declared it was a “scam,” as The Daily Wire previously reported.

Elvis purchased the 14-acre Memphis property in the spring of 1957 when he was 22, paying just over $100,000 for the mansion and grounds. He spent the following years renovating and expanding the property and lived there until he died in 1977.
It was opened to the public as a museum in 1982 and attracts more than 650,000 visitors annually. Elvis and other family members, including Lisa Marie, are buried on the property.
Lisa Marie once retained full control of Elvis’ estate, which today is estimated to be worth around $1 billion. She sold 85% of her stake in the company in 2005 for $100 million. That share is now worth about $850 million.
Keough was passed control of the 15% stake the family retained and full ownership of the Graceland property following Lisa Marie’s death last year.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/music">Elvis Presley</a>’s granddaughter Riley Keough is taking action against the impending foreclosure sale of the King’s legendary Graceland estate.
The 34-year-old actress filed a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lawsuit">lawsuit</a> against Naussany Investments &amp; Private Lending LLC in an attempt to block them from selling the property in what she’s calling a “fraudulent” move. Keough is the heir to Graceland and trustee of the Promenade Trust, per <a href="https://people.com/elvis-granddaughter-riley-keough-graceland-foreclosure-sale-attempt-fraudulent-8651540">People</a>.
According to the 60-page lawsuit filed on May 20, Naussany Investments is claiming that Keough’s late mother, Lisa Marie Presley, borrowed $3.8 million and gave them a deed using the Graceland property as security for the loan prior to her death in 2023. 
Keough argues in court docs that “the note and deed of trust are fraudulent and unenforceable.”
“The purported note and deed of trust are products of fraud and those individuals who were involved in the creation of such documents are believed to be guilty of the crime of forgery,” Keough states in court docs, the outlet noted.
&#8220;On information and belief, Naussany Investments &amp; Private Lending LLC is not a real entity. Naussany Investments &amp; Private Lending LLC appears to be a false entity created for the purpose of defrauding the Promenade Trust (the trust of Keough and formerly of Lisa Marie Presley), the heirs of Lisa Marie Presley, or any purchaser of Graceland at a non-judicial sale,&#8221; the lawsuit alleges.
Keough’s attorneys claim that Lisa Marie’s signature was forged and that she never met the notary who allegedly witnessed her signing the deed.
Keough’s grandmother, Elvis’ ex-wife Priscilla Presley, also weighed in on the situation. She <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C7N1a7yNki4/">shared</a> a short video clip of Graceland on her Instagram along with a text overlay saying, “It’s a scam!”

This is not the first financial dispute in the Presley family. In 2023, Keough agreed to pay Priscilla $1.4 million in exchange for control of the family trust, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/elvis-granddaughter-agrees-to-pay-grandmother-massive-sum-to-control-lisa-maries-trust">reported</a>. Prior to the settlement, which they reached privately without litigation, there were rumors of a family feud over the money. 
“As a family, we are pleased that we resolved this together,” Priscilla said in a statement at the time while confirming she never formally sued her granddaughter.

Legendary “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/music">American Pie</a>” singer Don McLean had some words of criticism for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/prince-harry">Prince Harry</a> after the former working royal family member criticized Elvis Presley’s former residence in his 2023 memoir, “Spare.”
“Dark, claustrophobic. I walked around saying, ‘The King lived here, you say? Really?’” the Duke of Sussex wrote after visiting <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">Graceland</a> in Memphis.
Harry said he stood “in one tiny room with loud furniture and shag carpet and thought, ‘The King’s interior designer must have been on acid.’”
When the memoir first came out, McLean expressed his outrage on X. “Prince Harry should shut his mouth about Graceland and Elvis. He is a hot house orchid, a show horse who never did a thing,” he <a href="https://x.com/donmclean/status/1616890039509872640">wrote</a> at the time. 
The musician just expanded on those thoughts in a new interview, <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-13416721/Prince-Harry-shut-mouth-just-doesnt-America-American-Pie-singer-Don-McLean-11-million-divorce-young-model-girlfriend-horse-prince-learn-manners.html">telling</a> The Daily Mail, &#8220;[Prince Harry] doesn’t understand that Elvis is like the poor man’s king. “His family were as poor as they could be and Harry criticized Elvis’s home as if he’s comparing it to Buckingham Palace, and that misses the point completely,” McLean added. “Here’s a fellow who has been brought up to be mannerly, but you don’t criticize America when you’re living here as our guest.”
“He just doesn’t get America,” the singer-songwriter added.
Despite performing one of the most well-known and hotly debated songs of the 20th century, which McLean still receives six-figure royalty checks for, the 78-year-old performer is still making music. He just released a new album, “American Boys.”
He also told The Daily Mail that while he “never [has] to work again,” he’ll still perform shows as long as it’s not a lengthy tour. “I’ll go over for two or three shows. I love the British audience,” he told the outlet. 
McLean also said he’s living comfortably. When asked if his estimated net worth of $40 million was accurate, the musician replied, “That figure is very low. It’s actually more than double that.”
He added, “I own my records, books, trademarks, everything. And I’m a bond investor so I could use the money I’m worth and make probably a billion dollars; but the way I feel, I’ve been so lucky to make the money I’ve made that I’m really happy where I am.”

The British immersive specialist company Layered Reality, which has produced previous AI-generated shows including “The Gunpowder Plot” and “The War of the Worlds,” has secured the global rights for the show.
Company reps describe it as a &#8220;jaw-dropping concert experience&#8221; where a life-sized digital Elvis &#8220;will perform iconic moments in musical history on a UK stage for the first time.&#8221;
The show will combine multiple technical elements, including AI, holographic projections, augmented reality, and live theater to make it look like Elvis is performing live on stage.
Layered Reality founder and CEO Andrew McGuinness described the project as &#8220;a next-generation tribute to the musical legend&#8221; that allows show attendees to &#8220;step into the world of Elvis and walk in his shoes,&#8221; per BBC.

The band concluded their “End of the Road” farewell tour in New York City at Madison Square Garden by revealing the new digital images onstage.

<a href="https://www.vulture.com/article/venice-film-festival-2023-lineup.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Allen&#8217;s</a> first French film &#8220;Coup de Chance&#8221; will premiere this year following his last film to open at an <a href="https://deadline.com/2023/07/2023-venice-debate-roman-polansk-woody-allen-1235447302/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">A-list festival</a> in 2016. His filmmaker status in recent years has changed following repeated sexual assault allegations by adoptive daughter Dylan Farrow, <a href="https://deadline.com/2023/07/2023-venice-debate-roman-polansk-woody-allen-1235447302/">Deadline</a> noted. Allen has emphatically denied the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/woody-allen-defends-himself-against-sex-abuse-paul-bois">accusations.</a> The filmmaker is expected to <a href="https://deadline.com/2023/07/2023-venice-debate-roman-polansk-woody-allen-1235447302/">attend</a> the event in person.
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/child-rapist-roman-polanski-wins-venice-film-paul-bois" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Polanski&#8217;s</a> &#8220;The Palace&#8221; premieres this year and it will be the first time one of his movies has been shown at the festival since 2019, <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/movies/2023/07/25/venice-international-film-festival-2023-lineup/70461432007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">USA Today</a> noted. The 90-year-old disgraced filmmaker will reportedly <a href="https://deadline.com/2023/07/2023-venice-debate-roman-polansk-woody-allen-1235447302/">not make the trip</a>. Polanski previously admitted to sexually abusing 13-year-old Samantha Geimer before fleeing to Europe in the late ’70s. He drugged and sodomized her during a photoshoot at Jack Nicholson&#8217;s house in 1977,&#8221; per <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kate-winslet-what-the-fk-was-i-doing-working-with-woody-allen-and-roman-polanski">The Daily Wire</a>. At the height of the #MeToo movement, numerous women accused Polanski of sexual assault when they were teenagers, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/admitted-child-rapist-roman-polanski-suing-academy-paul-bois" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
French film director Luc Besson will attend the festival where he will premiere his film, &#8220;Dogman&#8221; starring Caleb Landry Jones. Besson was recently cleared of charges in a rape case after Belgian-Dutch<a href="https://deadline.com/2023/07/2023-venice-debate-roman-polansk-woody-allen-1235447302/"> actress</a> Sand Van Roy accused him of assault in 2018. He <a href="https://people.com/director-luc-besson-cleared-of-rape-charges-in-france-7550964" target="_blank" rel="noopener">denied</a> the accusation at the time, calling it a &#8220;complete and utter lie,&#8221; and said &#8220;I have never raped a woman in my life,&#8221; the <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-49973547" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BBC</a> News noted. It will be the first film he&#8217;s directed since his 2019 movie &#8220;Anna.&#8221;
Due to the ongoing Hollywood strike of the Screen Actors Guild and America&#8217;s Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) an absence of many stars on the red carpet and at the premieres will be noticeable, <a href="https://collider.com/venice-film-festival-2023-lineup/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Collider</a> noted, since the strike prevents the stars from promoting movies.
In order for Presley to promote her film, &#8220;Priscilla&#8221; secured a SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement which allows cast members, which includes Jacob Elordi playing Elvis and Cailee Spaeny as Priscilla Beaulieu Presley, to do press and appear at the annual festival, <a href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/priscilla-gets-sag-aftra-interim-agreement-ahead-of-venice-film-festival-world-premiere/ar-AA1fDbMV" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deadline</a> noted. The main reason for the agreement was that the movie was shot in Canada under the production company TCB Productions Canada, the outlet noted.
&#8220;There&#8217;s multiple national laws that apply to exactly how we address striking that production … That&#8217;s one of the things we consider in the process of determining whether we grant an interim agreement,&#8221; SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland told the outlet.
&#8220;Priscilla&#8221; wasn&#8217;t the only film to secure an agreement with SAG-AFTRA amid the strike, <a href="https://variety.com/2023/film/global/venice-oscar-hopefuls-stars-italian-politics-1235706057/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Variety</a> has confirmed that Adam Driver of &#8220;Ferrari&#8221; will be at the premiere, however it is unclear, at the time of this publication, if his co-stars Cruz and Shailene Woodley are part of the agreement.
The casts for Cooper&#8217;s &#8220;Maestro,&#8221; Yorgos Lanthimos&#8217;s &#8220;Poor Things&#8221; with Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo, and David Fincher’s psychological thriller &#8220;The Killers&#8221; aren&#8217;t expected to be in attendance, including celebrities like Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton, the outlet noted.
&#8220;DogMan&#8221; also got an interim agreement allowing the cast to promote the film because it was independently financed, <a href="https://deadline.com/2023/08/luc-bessons-dogman-interim-agreement-venice-film-festival-1235453391/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deadline</a> noted. 
Many of the directors for those movies such as Fincher, Coppola, Mann, and Lanthimos are expected to attend. Cooper is not expected to be at the festival, <a href="https://variety.com/2023/film/global/venice-oscar-hopefuls-stars-italian-politics-1235706057/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Variety</a> noted. It kicks off August 30 and runs through September 9.
