President Donald Trump urged Republicans on Monday to get behind a Navy SEAL who he hopes will oust Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie in the 2026 midterm elections.
Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115844769291604784">wrote</a> on Truth Social that Captain Ed Gallrein has his &#8220;Complete and Total Endorsement&#8221; in a bid to replace Massie in Kentucky&#8217;s 4th Congressional District. Massie has been a thorn in Trump&#8217;s side for most of his second term, criticizing the president&#8217;s handling of the Epstein files and voting against his &#8220;Big, Beautiful Bill.&#8221;
&#8220;The incredible people of Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District, who want desperately to get rid of Thomas Massie, the Worst &#8216;Republican&#8217; Congressman we have had in many years, gave us a mandate to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;The person that will help us do the job, and do it right, is Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, Fifth Generation Kentucky Farmer, and American Hero, Captain Ed Gallrein, a true Patriot.&#8221;

Trump urged Republicans considering a run against Massie to stand down and &#8220;rally behind&#8221; Gallrein, arguing that Gallrein is in the best position to defeat the GOP congressman. Trump praised Gallrein for his service to the United States and said that the Navy SEAL &#8220;is a big fan of our recent attack on Nicolas Maduro, the Dictator of Venezuela.&#8221;
Massie <a href="https://x.com/RepThomasMassie/status/2008533475893104878">responded</a> to Trump&#8217;s lengthy statement on Gallrein, writing on X, &#8220;i ain’t reading all that. im happy for u tho. or sorry that happened.&#8221;
The Daily Wire reached out to Massie&#8217;s office and campaign for comment.
Trump&#8217;s relationship with Massie has been a roller-coaster ride. In March 2020, Trump <a href="https://apnews.com/article/2022-midterm-elections-donald-trump-kentucky-thomas-massie-1a75ba7b28a5f889210e703a72b85630">called</a> Massie a “third rate Grandstander” and urged the GOP to throw him out of the party after the Kentucky congressman tried to stall a $2.2 trillion COVID aid package. Two years later, Trump endorsed Massie in his Republican primary, referring to him as a “Conservative Warrior” and a “first-rate Defender of the Constitution.”
Massie, who espouses libertarian views, regularly criticizes Trump&#8217;s foreign and domestic policies, including his major spending plan in the &#8220;Big, Beautiful Bill.&#8221; Massie was one of just two Republicans in the House who voted against Trump&#8217;s signature piece of legislation.
Earlier this week, Massie condemned the Trump administration&#8217;s strikes in Venezuela and capture of Nicolás Maduro, <a href="https://x.com/RepThomasMassie/status/2007855570447913358">arguing</a> that the operation was only &#8220;about oil and regime change.&#8221;
&#8220;This is not what we voted for,&#8221; he said.
In a Christmas Day post calling out some of his enemies, Trump slammed Massie as &#8220;one lowlife &#8216;Republican'&#8221; who continues to focus on the Epstein saga, which Trump has called a &#8220;hoax.&#8221; Massie sent out a fundraising <a href="https://x.com/MassieforKY/status/2004577779640365204">message</a> in response to Trump&#8217;s Christmas Day criticism, writing on X, &#8220;Imagine celebrating a blessed Christmas with your family… suddenly phones alert everyone to the most powerful man in the world attacking you… for fulfilling his campaign promise to help victims!&#8221;

Former Republican George Conway is entering New York’s crowded Democratic primary for its Twelfth Congressional District to replace retiring Rep. Jerry Nadler.
Conway is the ex-husband of Kellyanne Conway, former Senior Counselor to President Donald Trump, but George is a vocal critic of the president. The couple got divorced in early 2023.
“We have a demented, criminal president running the country like a mob operation—government by the boss, for the boss,” he posted to X alongside a campaign video featuring footage from Jan. 6, as it’s been five years since the Capitol riot. “We need Democratic fighters who will defend the rule of law and deliver government by the people. Join us.”
The attorney joins a boisterous field, which includes former President John F. Kennedy’s grandson Jack Schlossberg, Parkland activist Cameron Kasky and Assemblyman Alex Bores. The seat is solidly Democratic, but the district’s Manhattan location paired with Nadler’s retirement has given the race a degree of national attention.
Conway was part of the anti-Trump Lincoln Project, but supported its closure amid allegations of sexual harassment of minors against co-founder John Weaver, the <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/02/16/george-conway-calls-for-lincoln-project-to-be-shut-down/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a> reported in 2021.

“An investigation is necessary. But it has to be thorough, and not a whitewash. And—THE LYING HAS TO STOP. It&#8217;s clear now that, as early last *MARCH*, the people who were in operational control of the Lincoln Project…. were told of Weaver&#8217;s predations,” Conway posted to Twitter in 2021. “Enough is enough. LP needs to waive the NDAs and come clean.”
He left the group in 2020, saying at the time that he needed to focus on his family, but adding he would continue to “passionately” support the group.
<a href="https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/george-conway-donald-trump-house-campaign-democrat-b2894973.html#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Independent</a> reported that Conway now rents an apartment in the Chelsea neighborhood, and he did not mince words in an interview with the British publication.
“Everything is at stake — democracy is at stake, the rule of law is at stake, constitutional government is at stake. And it&#8217;s no longer good enough for me to sit and lob things in from the spectator seats,” Conway told the outlet.
He previously worked in the city, but recently lived in the Washington, D.C., suburbs, according to the <a href="https://www.latimes.com/world-nation/story/2026-01-06/george-conway-persistent-trump-critic-is-running-for-congress-in-new-york" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Los Angeles Times</a>.
In October, a photo of George Conway wearing an “I am Antifa” T-shirt at a “No Kings” rally went viral after social media influencer Benny Johnson posted it, to which the now-Democrat replied, “I love how these people think this is some kind of gotcha. Thanks for posting, Benny!!”
Some conservative commentators pointed out that the race could become a race to the bottom for criticism of the Trump administration.
“Ah, the ‘I am Antifa’ shirt suddenly makes a lot more sense if he has to get out of a Democratic primary. This is going to be the most online primary of all time. Cameron Kasky and Jack Schlossberg also running. ‘I hate Trump more!’ ‘No, I do!’ ‘No, me!’” political columnist Karol Markowicz posted to X.
“When ‘Orange Man Bad’ becomes your entire personality,” political consultant Chapin D. Fay posted.
The primary is scheduled for June.

Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz will not seek re-election this year, he announced on Monday.
In a lengthy statement, Walz said Minnesota has been unfairly targeted by the Trump administration and cited ongoing fraud scandals that the Justice Department is investigating and prosecuting.
&#8220;Like many Minnesotans, I was glad to turn the page on 2025. It was an extraordinarily difficult year for our state. And it ended on a particularly sour note,&#8221; he stated.
&#8220;For the last several years, an organized group of criminals have sought to take advantage of our state&#8217;s generosity. And even as we make progress in the fight against the fraudsters, we now see an organized group of political actors seeking to take advantage of the crisis,&#8221; Walz added.
&#8220;I won&#8217;t mince words here. Donald Trump and his allies &#8211; in Washington, in St. Paul, and online &#8211; want to make our state a colder, meaner place. They want to poison our people against each other by attacking our neighbors. And, ultimately, they want to take away much of what makes Minnesota the best place in America to raise a family. They&#8217;ve already begun by taking our tax dollars that were meant to help families afford child care. And they have no intention of stopping there,&#8221; he continued.
Walz, the 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee, faced calls to resign amid numerous fraud scandals in the state, including cases involving daycare programs and Justice Department charges and convictions tied to schemes such as the fake children’s charity Feeding Our Future and autism treatment fraud.
His statement also indirectly mentioned independent journalist Nick Shirley, whose video alleging widespread fraud at Minnesota daycare centers recently went viral.
&#8220;We&#8217;ve got conspiracy theorist right-wing YouTubers breaking into daycare centers and demanding access to our children,&#8221; Walz said.
The Daily Agenda reported Sunday evening that Walz met with Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), while the New York Times reported that she may run for governor in his place. Walz has already served two terms as governor, and the potential move comes as Minnesota also faces an open Senate race in November, a scenario that could open another Senate seat if Klobuchar runs.
Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan is currently running in the Democratic primary for Senate, along with Rep. Angie Craig. With the governor&#8217;s seat now open, it remains unclear who Democrats will nominate to replace Walz.
On the Republican side, House Speaker Lisa Demuth and MyPillow founder Mike Lindell are among the names in the governor’s race.

Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, suggested on Thursday that he will go all-in on funding Republican candidates for the 2026 midterm elections.
Musk, who left the White House in May amid a public falling out with President Donald Trump, appears to have put the bad feelings behind him, <a href="https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2006832891024781722">saying</a> on Thursday that &#8220;America is toast if the radical left wins.&#8221; Musk made the comment on X, reposting a report that stated he is &#8220;going all-in funding Republicans to help President Trump take back full control in the November midterms.&#8221;
Musk said that if Democrats win, they would &#8220;open the floodgates to illegal immigration and fraud,&#8221; adding, &#8220;Won’t be America anymore.&#8221; The billionaire&#8217;s social media post appears to confirm a <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/12/16/elon-musk-donations-midterms-republicans-trump">report</a> from Axios last month that stated Musk recently made large <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/back-in-the-game-musk-reemerges-as-major-gop-donor-reportedly-cuts-big-checks-ahead-of-midterms" target="_blank" rel="noopener">donations</a> to multiple Republican campaigns ahead of the 2026 midterms and planned to make more.
Musk reportedly met with Vice President JD Vance and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles in November at the vice president&#8217;s residence. His relationship with Trump has also appeared to have healed, as the Tesla CEO was seen chatting with the president at the September memorial service for assassinated Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Musk also attended a dinner at the White House for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in November.
To have Musk back in the picture as a major donor would be a major boost for the Republican Party, which is facing an uphill battle to retain control of the House and prevent Democrat obstruction of President Trump&#8217;s agenda. Musk said in May that he would dial back his political spending after cutting checks totaling around $240 million to back Trump and Republicans in 2024. Musk argued that his donations and advocacy gave Republicans control of the House and put Trump in the White House for a second time.

Musk had a bitter falling out with Trump and Republican leaders over the president&#8217;s &#8220;Big Beautiful Bill,&#8221; which he argued would increase the deficit and undermine his work on the Department of Government Efficiency project to cut government waste.
After leaving his role as a senior adviser to Trump, Musk suggested that he might create a third party to oppose both Democratic radicalism and Republican inaction, but that plan never came to fruition. While he has been critical of the Republican Party, Musk has continued to focus most of his attacks on the Democratic Party. Musk also recently <a href="https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2002532585722032637">expressed</a> support for the Republican-controlled Senate ending the filibuster, a move Trump has urged the Senate to take to make it easier for Republicans to pass Trump&#8217;s agenda.

WASHINGTON—Donald Trump doesn’t deliver a conventional speech, and he’s explained why.
&#8220;If you just read a teleprompter, nobody’s going to be very excited,” Trump explained to Joe Rogan. “You’ve got to weave it out, otherwise, it’s no good.”
The “weave,” as Trump calls it, is the president’s way of jumping from topic to topic in what may seem to the uninitiated as rambling. In reality, Trump says, it’s all artfully strung together to capture the audience and comes together at the end in a strong statement. And on a night like tonight, when Trump is expected to touch on topics ranging from negotiating peace between Russia and Ukraine to his stand against transgenderism, it’s a valuable talent to have. 
Whether it’s the weave or his other unconventional tactics, there’s no doubt that Trump’s rhetorical style is unlike anything we’ve seen in the White House in decades. According to Matthew Continetti, Trump is the “most effective presidential communicator” that most Americans have ever seen. 
&#8220;I think in many Americans&#8217; lifetimes, he&#8217;s the most effective presidential communicator,” said Continetti, author of The Right: The Hundred-Year War for American Conservatism and director of Domestic Policy Studies at the American Enterprise Institute. “When he&#8217;s in these big moments, he always delivers a very commanding performance.&#8221;

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told The Daily Wire that Trump views his big speeches as a sort of focus group, listening carefully to see how his audiences respond to messaging, constantly improving and testing out his ideas and language.
“People consistently forget he spent 13 years doing commercial television on The Apprentice,” Gingrich said. “He knows a great deal about how to communicate. Probably as much as any president in American history. And he understands that whatever he thinks, he has to say it in a way that you can hear it and you can understand it, or it doesn&#8217;t work.&#8221;
“If he wants to educate you,” Gingrich added, “he&#8217;s got to keep you entertained.”
Daily Wire host Michael Knowles, however, says it’s more than just entertainment — he says Trump is a serious orator.
“President Trump commands the English language more effectively than any politician in my lifetime,” Knowles said. “In speeches and insults alike, Trump consistently employs poetic diction — to borrow a phrase from Barfield — and the lessons taught by Orwell in ‘Politics and the English Language.’ Trump’s opponents mock his word choice, but Trump’s sturdy, Saxon rhetoric reveals he really does know &#8216;the best words.&#8217;”
Trump will have to draw on all those rhetorical gifts Tuesday, as he delivers what is essentially the first State of the Union address of his second term. Trump<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/must-see-tv-heres-what-to-expect-from-president-trumps-joint-address-to-congress"> will begin</a> by outlining what his administration has accomplished thus far, the White House said Monday, before outlining his plans to fix the economy, end the illegal immigration crisis, and resolve global conflicts.
As with an official State of the Union, Trump will be speaking directly to lawmakers, Supreme Court justices, and other luminaries. But he’ll also be addressing the millions of Americans who view the speech.
The latter audience is who matters most to Trump, according to former White House speechwriter Mary Kate Cary.
“We&#8217;ve seen presidents do this before, where the reaction in the room isn&#8217;t that great, but outside the room, whether it&#8217;s the press corps or social media, is far bigger and far more reactive to what he&#8217;s saying,” said Cary, who worked for President George H.W. Bush. “Depending on what the topic is tonight. It could be to his advantage in a lot of ways to figure out how to play one audience differently than the other audience.” 
Gingrich had a similar take, noting that the president has a &#8220;very deep feel for the audience.” He also predicted that if Democrats attempt to disrupt the speech — as they have done in years past, and are <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/03/04/trump-congress-address-democrats-disrupt-plan">reportedly</a> planning to do again — Trump will likely already have things to say and ways to &#8220;dominate the scene.”
“If you&#8217;re the president, you have huge advantages in a setting like that,&#8221; Gingrich said.
What kind of speech Trump gives Tuesday may come largely down to whether or not he sticks to the script. As Cary noted, Trump’s speechwriters “have a very different job than typical presidential speechwriters because he&#8217;s not a career politician, and yet he is very good at keeping his finger on the pulse of what&#8217;s going on in America.”
To Cary, Trump’s “off-the-cuff” rallies are even more effective than his formal speeches. She pointed to some high-profile Trump moments from the election cycle as examples of how impactful the president’s actions are, even when he’s not delivering remarks: Trump shaking his fist after an assassination attempt and urging the crowd to “fight, fight, fight,” or the memorable garbage truck appearance in the neon vest.
“Those were not highly-wordsmithed, oratorical moments,” she noted.
Continetti suggests that Trump&#8217;s speechwriters have adjusted to the president&#8217;s speaking habits over the past decade, giving him more room to weave when he pleases. But Trump largely stuck to the script in February 2020, when he delivered the State of the Union address of his first term. He mostly highlighted his administration&#8217;s accomplishments and stressed the extraordinary opportunity to be found in the United States.
&#8220;America is the place where anything can happen,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;America is the place where anyone can rise. And here, on this land, on this soil, on this continent, the most incredible dreams come true.” 
But though he was scripted, Trump still managed to stir the crowd, particularly in an emotional and memorable moment when he honored Rush Limbaugh, who died a year later, with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
“This nation is our canvas, and this country is our masterpiece,” Trump said. “We look at tomorrow and see unlimited frontiers just waiting to be explored. Our brightest discoveries are not yet known.  Our most thrilling stories are not yet told. Our grandest journeys are not yet made.  The American Age, the American Epic, the American adventure has only just begun.&#8221;
“It would be difficult for Trump to improve upon” that address, said Mollie Hemingway, editor-in-chief of The Federalist. Hemingway pointed to that address as evidence that Trump  “has always been understood better by average Americans than Washington elites.” That’s why, Hemingway noted, &#8220;Pelosi tore up that speech and Democrats seethed in response to it.&#8221;

Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts echoed Hemingway’s point, telling The Daily Wire that “the elites fixate on President Trump’s rhetoric because they’re terrified of his results.”
“He’s delivering,” Roberts said, “securing the border, crushing wokeness, and putting America First.”
“Trump’s rhetoric resonates with everyday Americans because he’s fighting for their interests.”
It may not resonate with some members of his immediate audience. Axios <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/03/04/trump-congress-address-democrats-disrupt-plan">reports</a> that Democrats may walk out if Trump defends children against transgender procedures or other hot button topics. Some members may even bring noise makers and empty egg cartons as props. 
“It’ll be interesting to see how Trump reacts to that,” Cary said, recalling how Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-GA) stood up at the last State of the Union and <a href="https://apnews.com/article/laken-riley-biden-speech-immigration-d756dbe1c499c6fd0fc53be04290b371">called upon</a> former President Joe Biden to say the name of Laken Riley, a young woman murdered by an illegal immigrant.
Biden did “say her name,” though he mispronounced it, drawing even more fiery criticism.
Gingrich said that a potential Trump response to Democrat disturbance depends on “whether they’re just totally obnoxious or not.” 
“Reagan was very good at this. There are ways you can turn and you can pose questions to them,” he said. “If [Trump] wants to, he can do that, and again, he has the advantage…I think the burden is on Speaker Johnson to just remove them from the room.”
Though Continetti suspects Trump will stick to his script tonight, he also notes that the president’s not scheduled to depart the Capitol until around 11:30 p.m., two and a half hours after his speech is expected to begin.
“That&#8217;s plenty of time for a weave-like speech,&#8221; he said.

Aber Kawas said in a Labor Day 2015 <a href="https://archive.ph/VXjfO" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tumblr post</a> that “a day off means nothing, because liberation means everything,” the <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/12/27/us-news/mamdani-backed-queens-assembly-candidate-hates-american-holidays-like-veterans-day-july-4th/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a> first reported.
&#8220;Whether it is July 4th, Thanksgiving, Veterans, Columbus or now Labor Day- we enjoy days off that are supposed to be victories for people, when they truly represent the silencing &amp; destruction of our movements,” she wrote at the time.
“Today I do not celebrate a day off, I only recommit myself to a global movement that fights against the death, displacement, and exploitation of people for capital,” the candidate added.
Her campaign for Assembly District 34, which is in Queens, focuses on an “affordability crisis” and she claimed that “immigrants are being attacked while billions are spent to fund Israel’s genocide in Gaza” in an X post from earlier this month, saying on her campaign website that her parents are Palestinian refugees, but she was born in the Big Apple.

This is not the first time past remarks of hers have come to light, as X user <a href="https://x.com/DrewPavlou/status/1990733437775331774?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Drew Pavlou</a> posted a clip of her discussing 9/11 as &#8220;a terror attack that like a couple of people did.&#8221;
“The system of capitalism and racism and white supremacy et cetera — and Islamophobia — have all been used, you know, to colonize lands, to take resources from other people, and so this is a long trajectory and we are just seeing the manifestations of that continuation, right, with 9/11,” she said.
“The idea we have to apologize for like a terror attack that like a couple of people did and then there is no apology or reparations for genocides and for slavery, et cetera — is something I find reprehensible,” Kawas continued in the clip. The Post reported that she previously interned for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and has been noted for her work with the group’s New York chapter.
The city’s DSA chapter recently touted its endorsement of Kawas, who posted to X that “proud to be running as a democratic socialist who will fight for freedom and dignity for immigrants, justice for Palestinians, and an affordable NY for all.”
The Daily Wire reached out to the Kawas and Mamdani campaigns for comment.
<a href="https://www.nydailynews.com/2025/11/17/mamdani-backs-palestinian-activist-in-legislative-race-where-battle-with-israeli-lobby-a-key-issue/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Daily News</a> reported on Mamdani’s endorsement of Kawas last month, as his nod could potentially be a major deal — in both good and bad ways — as he has become a national figure.
Kawas said in a November 10 Instagram post with herself, Mamdani, and others that people “can’t deny that the last two years of genocide in Palestine was part of what galvanized thousands to throw down for a campaign that represented a new kind of politics.”
If she’s elected to represent Queens in Albany, she might even pose a contrast to the Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul, as she retweeted an October 2023 post from Mamdani criticizing Hochul’s comments on a Gaza hospital strike in the Israel-Hamas conflict. The governor did eventually endorse Mamdani for mayor in September 2025.

Michigan state Senator Mallory McMorrow, a Democrat who&#8217;s running for U.S. Senate in 2026, said in a video posted to social media on Thursday that she &#8220;would not be able to control&#8221; herself if she saw conservative Supreme Court Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh in public.
The undated video, posted on X by Townhall, shows McMorrow answering a question from someone about the conservative majority on the Supreme Court. McMorrow, a Notre Dame grad and one of the Democratic leaders in the Michigan Senate, said that it makes her &#8220;furious&#8221; that Coney Barrett also graduated from Notre Dame.
&#8220;I talked to somebody yesterday who said they saw her with Brett Kavanaugh at a tailgate last weekend. I was like, &#8216;I would not be able to control myself,'&#8221; McMorrow said. &#8220;That would be a bad— there would be beers thrown in people&#8217;s faces.&#8221;

The Daily Wire reached out to McMorrow&#8217;s Senate office and her campaign team to ask about her comments, but they did not respond.
Conservative Supreme Court justices have been the target of intense criticism from Democratic leaders in recent years. In 2020, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/05/chuck-schumer-supreme-court-comments-121960">called out</a> Kavanaugh and Justice Neil Gorsuch by name and warned that they would &#8220;pay the price&#8221; if they voted to overturn Roe v. Wade.

&#8220;You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions,&#8221; Schumer added at the time. The Democratic leader was rebuked by many of his colleagues and by Chief Justice John Roberts, who wrote, “Justices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous.”
Then, in 2022, shortly after the court overturned Roe v. Wade, a trans-identifying male traveled to the home of Kavanaugh with plans to assassinate the conservative justice.
McMorrow is one of three Democrats who are seeking to replace retiring Democratic Senator Gary Peters. The 2026 election in Michigan will be one of the most closely watched contests in the country, as Republicans hope to capitalize on the open seat. McMorrow, 39, has served in the Michigan Senate since 2019 and became the Senate majority whip in 2023, where she has focused on advocating for abortion, especially after the Supreme Court&#8217;s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in 2022.
Earlier this year, McMorrow rubbed shoulders with a radical leftist blogger who mocked Charlie Kirk after he was assassinated. In late September, McMorrow <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/michigan-democrat-teams-up-with-leftist-blogger-who-mocked-charlie-kirk-after-assassination">attended a fundraiser</a> alongside Rebecca Schoenkopf, who, a day after Kirk was killed, published an article titled “Second Amendment Comes for Charlie Kirk.”

Democrats are looking at 2028 and see Republican vulnerability.
What they see is a 2024 election that — while it was fairly solid as a win for Republicans in the Electoral College — was a pretty narrow win in the popular vote. They think that perhaps they can reverse the tide, perhaps take the White House in 2028 with someone like Gavin Newsom.
Thus, Democrats have shifted away from their 2024 failing strategy, taking the least popular parts of their agenda and moving those to the back burner.
We heard all about equity in the run-up to the 2020 election. It was the centerpiece of the Joe Biden campaign. In 2024, it was again the centerpiece of the late-breaking Kamala Harris campaign in 2024.
You no longer hear Democrats talking about equity each and every day the way that they were before. Instead, they are talking about “affordability.” The same thing is true about radical trans issues. The politics of transgenderism are awful for Democrats.
The vast majority of Americans believe that boys are boys and girls are girls, and boys cannot become girls, and attempts to brainwash children into the idea that they are, in fact, members of the opposite sex, or even could be members of the opposite sex, is perverse. Telling a young kid that you might have a girl’s brain in a boy&#8217;s body is not only gnostic and scientifically nonsensical, it is also terribly wrong to do that to children.
That was the general perception among Americans, and it drove huge numbers for President Trump. The single most effective ad of the 2024 campaign was on this issue from the Trump campaign, and suggested that Kamala was for transgenders while President Trump was for you.
If you talk to people in minority communities who swiveled from Democrat to Republican, this was a major issue because the trans issue — which affected a fairly small percentage of the population, went to fundamental truths about our society.
Could you trust people who told such a basic lie: that boys could be girls?
The answer was no.

So Democrats have decided that they are going to put that on the back burner. One of those Democrats was Gavin Newsom.
A few months ago, Gavin Newsom was doing a podcast with the late Charlie Kirk in which Charlie pressed Gavin Newsom on trans politics. Newsom admitted that boys should not be playing in girls’ sports, admitting that it was unfair.
But — the other day, Newsom — having been asked questions by members of the Democratic base and believing that he is the front runner for the 2028 Democratic nomination — did a podcast with Ezra Klein of The New York Times in which he was asked about his take on trans politics.
Now that Newsom believes that he has to win primaries in the Democratic Party as he prepares for that 2028 run, he swiveled back into a losing strategy for Democrats. 
“I want to see trans kids,” he proclaimed, continuing: “I have a trans godson. There’s no governor that’s done more pro-trans legislation than I have. No one has been a stronger advocate for the LGBTQ community.” 
The normie position is that there is no such thing as a trans kid. There are kids who may have gender dysphoria. That is a different thing. There is no such thing as a kid who is a boy in a girl&#8217;s body, or upon whom we should be performing hormonal therapies and surgeries that are utterly unscientific and permanently damaging to them.
So when Gavin Newsom says, “I want to see trans kids, there&#8217;s no governor that&#8217;s done more pro trans legislation than I have,” that creates a real awkwardness for the Democratic Party. 
This broke into the open because it precipitated a confrontation with Elon Musk.
America, a PAC founded by Musk, posted the video of Newsom, and it went viral. Gavin Newsom&#8217;s press office replied, referring to one of Musk’s sons who identifies as a woman, “We&#8217;re sorry your daughter hates you, Elon.”
It&#8217;s insane to get personal on these sorts of issues.
When I discuss these issues, I try not to get personal. The reason I try not to get personal is because once you&#8217;re into the emotional valence of somebody&#8217;s family, you have a problem.
A few years ago, I spoke at the University of British Columbia in Canada, and it was about this issue. A person got up who identified as a woman. He started personalizing the question, saying, “My family treats me as though I&#8217;m a girl.”
I replied, “You know, I would really appreciate it if we could keep this on the level of the philosophical and issue-based, because once we get into critiquing interpersonal relations, this is going to get very personal very quickly.”
This person kept insisting, ”No, I know that I&#8217;m a woman because my family treats me as a woman.” And I kept saying, “Please, I don&#8217;t want to talk about how your family treats you because that&#8217;s about your family. It&#8217;s about the broader issue, which is the question of public policy and how we ought to deal with these issues as a general society”.
But the person wouldn&#8217;t stop. Finally I said, “The reason that your family is saying to you that you are a woman and confirming you in your delusion is because they are afraid that you will do something bad to yourself, not because they actually believe that you are a woman. They do not believe that you are a girl. They know that you are not. They are trying to humor you because they&#8217;re afraid of what will happen if they do not.”
This person got extremely emotional and rushed out of the room. It was a perfect YouTube clip, but the reason you&#8217;ve never seen that on YouTube is because I went to the organizers of the event and asked them to remove that from the tape of the event, because I knew that this person was going to be damaged by that tape. It would have hurt him.
Not only that, I then found friends of the person and asked this person to come to breakfast the next morning with me to make sure this person was okay.
That’s because when you merge the personal and the political in this way, it gets really ugly, really quickly.
Gavin Newsom&#8217;s press office targeting Musk over his child was truly ugly stuff.
Musk then tweeted back, “I assume you’re referring to my son, Xavier, who has a tragic mental illness caused by the evil woke mind virus you push on vulnerable children. I love Xavier very much and hope he recovers. My daughters are Azure, Exa (she goes by Y) and Arcadia, and they do indeed love me very much.”
The fact that Newsom&#8217;s office went that low is really disgusting, and shows how the Democrats are going to run headlong into their own radicalism on this issue.
Newsom seems like he&#8217;s trying to avoid the issue altogether. But if he is dragged back into discussing this issue, and if Democrats keep making the same moral litmus test as to whether boys can be girls, especially minors, then they&#8217;re going to be in for a world of hurt.

A Democrat won the Miami mayoral race for the first time in nearly 30 years, beating the Trump-backed Republican by almost 20 points. 
Democrat Eileen Higgins defeated GOP challenger Emilio Gonzalez in a run-off election on Tuesday, <a href="https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/miami-mayoral-runoff-election-see-the-complete-results-here/3731997/">winning</a> 59% of the vote to her opponent’s 41%. Higgins, a 61-year-old former county commissioner, is the first Democrat to win the mayoral race in Miami since 1997 and the first woman ever elected to lead the city.
“Together, we turned the page on years of chaos and corruption and opened the door to a new era for our city — one defined by ethical, accountable leadership that delivers real results for the people,” she said.
Higgins said her victory was partly due to Miami residents being “done” with &#8220;dehumanizing and cruel” rhetoric against migrants. Throughout the campaign, she has been critical of Trump&#8217;s crackdown on illegal immigration. 
While officially a non-partisan election, Gonzalez was <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115562700432868071">endorsed</a> by President Donald Trump and Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis, while former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Rahm Emanuel, a former Obama chief of staff, campaigned in support of Higgins. 
Higgins&#8217; campaign page said that as mayor, she would address the “permitting process to get our government moving for small businesses and homeowners, protect tax dollars, and make City Hall work for us by building safer neighborhoods and a more affordable future.”
Gonzalez congratulated Higgins on Tuesday evening and wished her the best as she leads the city.

“Grateful beyond words for the thousands of Miami residents who stood with us for integrity, safety, and putting families first,” Gonzalez <a href="https://x.com/Emilioformiami/status/1998580897084252352">said</a>. “While this election didn’t end the way we hoped, our fight for accountability, transparency, and a city that works for residents, not insiders, continues. May God bless Miami and our future.”
Democrats said that Higgins’ victory was a positive sign for their party. 
“Mayor-elect Eileen Higgins’ win is a testament to what we can accomplish when we organize and compete everywhere,” Democrat National Committee Chair Ken Martin <a href="https://x.com/kenmartin73/status/1998549377405616146">said</a> on X. “Democrats have now flipped a seat that was in Republicans’ hands for nearly 30 years.”
Democrats have 8,000 more registered voters in the city, which backed former Vice President Kamala Harris over Trump during the 2024 presidential election. As a whole, the state of Florida has shifted to the right in recent years, with Trump defeating Harris by more than 13 points. 
The city’s current mayor, Republican Francis Suarez, was term-limited.

Republicans took a victory lap when Matt Van Epps defeated leftist Democrat Aftyn Behn in Tennessee&#8217;s special election this month.
But what, if anything, does Van Epps&#8217;s victory mean for Republican prospects as we head into the 2026 midterm elections?
The Daily Wire asked three Republican strategists to share their key takeaways from this race. All three said that Democrats run the risk of killing any momentum they have if they nominate far-left candidates in primaries for competitive seats.
“For all the handwringing about margin of victory, this was nearly a double digit win. Special elections are special for a reason, and Republicans were wise to leave nothing to chance and sprint through the tape,” South &amp; Hill Strategies co-founder Colin Reed said, calling Van Epps the “type of candidate the GOP needs more of.”
“There are some useful lessons looking forward for both parties: for the GOP, the midterm political climate remains challenging, as it always does for the party in charge, and for the Democrats, they need to nominate less extreme candidates if they want to compete beyond the deep blue bastions of America,” he said.
“That’s a challenge for them because the far Left is where all the energy and enthusiasm resides.”

The results of the 2026 midterms will shape the final two years of President Donald Trump’s time in the White House. Currently, there are 220 Republicans and 213 Democrats in the House of Representatives, with two seats that are vacant. The magic number for a majority is 218, which both parties are vying for both on the campaign trail and in mid-decade redistricting battles.
Van Epps won with roughly 54% of the vote, leaving Behn with just over 45%. In 2024, Rep. Mark Green, who resigned earlier this year, won the seat with 59.5% of the vote, with President Donald Trump also winning heavily. Van Epps was sworn in on Thursday.
The race led to surrogates campaigning left and right, from President Donald Trump phoning into a rally with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), to former Vice Presidents Kamala Harris and Al Gore hoping to rally the troops for Behn.
Despite her loss, Behn expressed confidence about the margin by which she lost, as she ran her campaign largely on affordability, but faced a wave of scrutiny for her past far-left comments on abolishing prisons, law enforcement, and abortion.
“Tonight, we did something everyone counted out. We proved to a nation that states like Tennessee are still worth fighting for,” Behn posted to X on Tuesday. “The margin was close, and that can only be attributed to the thousands of volunteers who showed out. This is just the beginning.”
Chris Burger, founder and CEO of the Tennessee-based Rotunda Public Affairs, said that “voters weren’t buying what she’s selling.” Burger pointed out how the Democrat was in a primary with three others: Darden Copeland and state Reps. Bo Mitchell and Vincent Dixie.
“This is what happens when you have four people in a Democratic primary, and they elect by a pretty close margin, the most extreme left-wing person in the race, and then all the far-left activists and the national media complex come together,” he added.
&#8220;They put all their attention and money into it, and they threw the kitchen sink at it. And you know, Aftyn&#8217;s a far-left socialist and she does not represent the Seventh District or Tennessee values at large,&#8221; he said.
A third GOP operative, who spoke with The Daily Wire on background, said that they are “very encouraged” by Tuesday night’s results, and said that “a nine-point margin is really strong compared to what we&#8217;re seeing in other elections this cycle.”
However, the operative cautioned that special elections are just that — special — and that turnout likely looks very different from that during a standard election. The operative also pointed out the major messaging pivot by Democrats between the start of the year and now, which went from focusing highly on Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency to discussing the cost-of-living.
&#8220;Affordability, they call it, was a con job by the Democrats,&#8221; Trump said during his cabinet meeting earlier this week, as he often blames Democrats and the Biden administration for policies that triggered high inflation.
Burger said that the affordability argument from Democrats like Behn falls flat on its merits when people consider the &#8220;policy objective&#8221; the candidates are campaigning for.
&#8220;If you look at what the Democrats want to do: government involvement. And government involvement typically always drives the price up.

The Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that Texas could forge ahead with its newly redrawn congressional map ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
The <a href="https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/26338616/25a608-order.pdf">initial order</a> was unsigned, and declared that the lower court&#8217;s decision to block the map — which favors Republicans — had been made in error. A brief concurring opinion followed that was joined by Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, and Neil Gorsuch. Justices Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor, and Ketanji Brown-Jackson joined together in dissent.
The order opened with a brief explanation, noting that a three-judge District Court had granted the League of Latin American Voters&#8217; request for an injunction — which would have prevented the state from implementing the new map — and stated that the Court intended to stay the injunction, as requested by the state of Texas. &#8220;The District Court failed to honor the presumption of legislative good faith by construing ambiguous direct and circumstantial evidence against the legislature,&#8221; the explanation read, in part.

Justice Alito, in his concurring opinion, argued that the lower court&#8217;s determination — that the Republican-drawn map was based on race rather than politics — was made in error. He wrote that it was &#8220;indisputable&#8221; that the &#8220;impetus for the adoption of the Texas map (like the map subsequently adopted in California) was partisan advantage pure and simple&#8221; — and that being the case, the state should be permitted to move forward with that map. Thomas and Gorsuch agreed.
&#8220;When the asserted reason for a map is political, it is critical for challengers to produce an alternative map that serves the State’s allegedly partisan aim just as well as the map the State adopted. Id., at 34; Easley v. Cromartie, 532 U. S. 234, 258 (2001). Although respondents’ experts could have easily produced such a map if that were possible, they did not, giving rise to a strong inference that the State’s map was indeed based on partisanship, not race,&#8221; their concurring opinion continued.
Justice Kagan, in her lengthy dissent, complained that the ruling had declared the redrawn maps to not be based on race, as the lower court had found, but had instead justified them being drawn for political reasons.
The ruling, she said, &#8220;disserves the millions of Texans whom the District Court found were assigned to their new districts based on their race.&#8221;

Republican Matt Van Epps fended off a challenge from far-Left Democrat Aftyn Behn on Tuesday during a special election for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District.
With 95% of the vote in, <a href="https://election-night.decisiondeskhq.com/date/2025-12-02">DecisionDeskHQ</a> has called the race for Van Epps 53.9% to 45%. Other outlets followed shortly after.
Van Epps&#8217; victory allows Republicans to breathe a sigh of relief after Democrats surged money and resources into the race, hoping to capitalize on typically low Republican turnout in special elections. A win for Behn in the deep red district would have sent shockwaves throughout the nation. The self-described “radical” community organizer had previously voiced support for burning down police stations and supported transgender surgeries on young children.
The race was scheduled after former Rep. Mark Green announced his resignation earlier this year. Green won the district, which stretches from Tennessee’s borders with Kentucky and Alabama and includes parts of Nashville, by over 20 points.
In recent weeks, money poured into the race as Behn campaigned with Democrat favorites Al Gore and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
House Speaker Mike Johnson <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-reputation-of-our-state-is-on-the-line-gop-begins-final-push-before-critical-house-election?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=3&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=%E2%80%98The+Reputation+Of+Our+State+Is+On+The+Line%E2%80%99%3A+GOP+Begins+Final+Push+Before+Critical+House+Election">traveled to Tennessee</a> on Monday to rally support for Van Epps.
Van Epps’ win bolsters Johnson’s slim majority in the House, which currently sits at 219-213.
Behn had a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/everything-you-need-to-know-for-the-crucial-tennessee-special-house-election?author=Zach+Jewell&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=5&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Everything+You+Need+To+Know+For+The+Crucial+Tennessee+Special+House+Election">fundraising advantage</a> over Van Epps, raising over $1 million between October 1 and November 12 while Van Epps took in $591,000 during that same timeframe. At the same time, the Trump-aligned MAGA Inc spent over $1 million backing Van Epps, while the Democrat-aligned House Majority PAC and Your Community PAC have spent a combined $950,000 supporting Behn.
Behn won a crowded Democratic primary in August despite a history of leftist advocacy out of touch with much of the Volunteer State’s conservative leaning.
She once claimed that <a href="https://x.com/claytravis/status/1993319674352697755?s=42">men can give birth</a>. Behn also said that the murder of six children by a transgender-identifying gunman at the Covenant School in Tennessee made her more sympathetic to “trans communities.” That apparent sympathy <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrat-aftyn-behn-said-covenant-shooting-made-her-fearful-for-trans-communities">inspired</a> her to “fight the far-right narrative that is being emanated by Matt Walsh and The Daily Wire.”
Behn also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tennessee-congressional-candidate-backs-trans-procedures-for-kids-campaigns-with-drag-queen">backs</a> transgender procedures on children, draping a trans flag on her back during “Pride” month and writing on social media: “THESE COLORS DON’T BLEED. Remember, you come for my trans community, I come for you.”

In a May 2022 podcast appearance, Behn said she supported the mailing of abortion pills into Tennessee by outside groups. Medication abortions are illegal under Tennessee law.
“We’ll continue to figure out how to get abortion pills to people. So the organizing does not stop just because Roe is overturned,” Behn said.
Last month, Behn <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/music-city-fumble-dem-candidate-said-she-hates-city-she-wants-to-represent-in-congress">went viral</a> for comments she made about her hatred of country music and the city of Nashville.
Van Epps also won a crowded Republican primary after earning an endorsement from President Donald Trump. Trump called into a rally for Van Epps featuring Tennessee GOP heavyweights and held a tele-rally on Monday night for the Republican on the eve of the election.
