I believe that America’s core ideals are very much linked to its Christian faith. So as Easter has just passed, I thought this would be a good time to take a closer look at the state of the American church and then weep quietly and say it was a great country while it lasted.
Now, according to a Pew poll, 62% of Americans identify as Christian. This is a slight drop from the 1697 poll which showed 99.9% of Americans were Christian with one heretic hiding in the woods hoping some long-haired guy with a buckle on his hat wouldn’t blow his head off with a blunderbuss.
But today’s religious landscape looks different depending on political affiliation. For instance, on the political Left, 43% of those who identify as progressives say they have abandoned Christianity and become Episcopalians. Fourteen percent of progressives say they have renounced the corrupt beliefs of colonizing white men, have returned to the innocent and beautiful natural religion of indigenous peoples, and were preparing to sacrifice a virgin to the volcano God until they realized that by the time they were sure she was a virgin, she wasn’t a virgin anymore, and if they threw her into a volcano there’d be no one left who knew how to make breakfast.
Other progressives say they are sick of the sort of restrictive religions that ruined the 1950’s by making everything so great. Instead they have turned to more modern faiths with practices that reflect the moral progress of mankind. These practices include yogic meditation, ritual mindfulness, and tantric sex followed by butchering any unborn babies conceived during tantric sex, then celebrating the mass slaughter by dancing around a pole in a wild blood-drenched frenzy, getting a full body tattoo featuring goat-headed demi-gods with flaming eyes, then running naked through a forest while grunting inarticulately and listening to music that’s mostly composed of drumbeats and shrieking because classic rock is just the best.

Among Christians on the political Right, 17% say they believe in Christ so hard they’ll kill anyone who disagrees with them, 14% say their faith is so strong they might even be willing to go to church as long as porn is provided, and 8% say their worship mostly involves posting unspeakably cruel remarks on social media to people who aren’t as Christly as they are. Four percent of conservative Christians say they have abandoned their own egos for Christ’s sake and have thus elevated their souls into a state of suffering-yet-serene agape love, and are now hiding in the woods hoping some long-haired guy with a buckle on his hat won’t blow their heads off with a blunderbuss.
The remaining 57% of Right-wing Christians spend most of their time sobbing and whispering, “Oh God, I suck so bad, please, please, please have mercy on me and don’t send me to hell or California.”
As far as other American religions go, 94% of limousine drivers identify as Muslims, 16% of Christian women pretend they’re Buddhists, and 82% of Jews control 90% of everything except which parts of Ivy League campuses they’re allowed to walk on without one of their professors pointing at them and making that awful insect noise like Donald Sutherland at the end of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.”
Approximately 29% of Americans have no religion whatsoever and they say that makes life much easier because they&#8217;re able to rotate their heads 360 degrees and spider walk across the ceiling, which comes in very handy when they’re trying to escape from the exorcist.
Around the world, the religious landscape is much more varied. For instance, in Great Britain, while 47% of the people identify as Christian, 70% of them say that Islam is also absolutely great, totally fine, really wonderful and not a problem at all, no, really, it’s fantastic, they’re not just saying that because they’d be arrested for telling the truth.
In France, 49% of the population were excited because they thought they belonged to a dark, obscure, mystery cult with elaborate secret rituals until they found out they were actually just Catholics.
And in China, 23% of high-ranking Communists identify their kidneys as Uiger.

The state of Washington, which does not officially recognize Easter or Yom Kippur as state holidays, became the first state in the nation to recognize the two Islamic holidays of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as unpaid state-recognized holidays when Democrat Governor Bob Ferguson <a href="https://tvw.org/video/governor-bob-ferguson-bill-signing-2025041217/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed the legislation into law</a> this month.
“<a href="https://app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?BillNumber=5106&amp;Year=2025&amp;Initiative=false" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senate Bill 5106</a>, sponsored by Sen. Yasmin Trudeau (D-Tacoma), adds both Eid holidays to a list of 20 other state holidays. Rep. Osman Salahuddin (D-Redmond) sponsored the companion bill,” Ferguson’s <a href="https://governor.wa.gov/news/2025/governor-bob-ferguson-signs-historic-bill-officially-recognizing-eid-holidays" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> stated. “The new law does not establish Eid holidays as paid holidays, but rather adds them to the state’s list of recognized observances, similar to Lunar New Year or Billy Frank Jr. Day.”

WASHINGTON—First Lady Melania Trump and President Donald Trump partook in one of the oldest White House traditions on Monday morning as they hosted the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. 
The president and first lady greeted their guests from the Blue Room Balcony overlooking the South Lawn, where staff had prepared games and activities for the brightly colored families in attendance. An estimated 30,000 people attended Monday&#8217;s event, according to a member of the First Lady&#8217;s team.
The Daily Wire spotted a number of high-profile Trump administration attendees, including White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, dressed in a long blue lace dress, and accompanied by her husband and her infant son. Stephen Miller and his wife and children also attended the event, as did National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and his wife, FBI Director Kash Patel, and others.
&#8220;We&#8217;re honoring Jesus Christ and we&#8217;re going to honor Jesus Christ very powerfully throughout our lives,&#8221; promised Trump, as he spoke from the Blue Room Balcony. &#8220;Not just now, all throughout our lives. We&#8217;re bringing religion back in America.&#8221;
Trump also said that he signed an executive order ordering the flags of the United States at half-mast in honor of Pope Francis, who passed away on Monday morning. &#8220;He was a good man, worked hard. He loved the world. And it&#8217;s an honor to do that.&#8221;

The day&#8217;s festivities included the famous egg roll, a relay race where the children roll eggs across the lawn; a &#8220;Be Best Military Card Writing Station&#8221; that included coloring; a &#8220;Be Best Hopscotch,&#8221; and the Reading Nook, where Melania Trump read aloud to a large group from the children&#8217;s book &#8220;Bunny With A Big Heart.&#8221;
The president took questions from the media as he entered the event, joking about the 2022 event where the Easter Bunny appeared to lead President Joe Biden to his appropriate spot as the president looked confused and lost.
“Remember when the bunny took Joe Biden out?&#8221; asked Trump, leaning close to the Easter Bunny as he added, &#8220;He’s not taking Trump out!&#8221;
&#8220;That was a beautiful moment,&#8221; he added. &#8220;When the bunny saved Joe Biden.”
His wife laughed and smiled, and moved on to interact with the children, who gathered around her and chatted with the First Lady. She focused on the activities and the children throughout the course of her time at the Easter Egg roll, only interacting with the media once to express condolences over Pope Francis&#8217;s death.
Trump, meanwhile, spoke with reporters several times in between coloring with the children, high-fiving youngsters, and complimenting his wife: &#8220;You know who she is?&#8221; he asked the children. &#8220;First Lady of the United States of America!”
The president joined a table full of youngsters coloring, focusing on coloring his own picture. He looked up and said emphatically, &#8220;I&#8217;m really into this!&#8221; to the delight of those around him.

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump sent a message about the power of faith to Catholics and Christians on Ash Wednesday.
“This Ash Wednesday, we join in prayer with the tens of millions of American Catholics and other Christians beginning the holy season of Lent—a time of spiritual anticipation of the passion, death, and Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” the message from POTUS and FLOTUS from the White House read.
“During the Lenten season, Christians spend 40 days and 40 nights praying, fasting, and giving alms to deepen our faith and strengthen our belief in the Gospel,” it added. “Today, followers of Christ wear crosses of ash on their foreheads—a sacred reminder of our mortality and our enduring need for Christ’s infinite mercy and redeeming love.”

“First Lady Melania Trump is pleased to announce initial details for the 147th White House Easter Egg Roll,” according to a press release from the Office of the First Lady. “The Easter Egg Roll will take place on Monday, April 21, 2025, on the South Lawn of the White House. Families with children 13 years old and younger are invited to join the President, First Lady, White House staff, and their families for a day of festivities.”

Earlier this month, the first lady announced the reopening of the White House to the public for tours and Tuesday, President Trump surprised the first White House tour group of his second presidency.
In a video on YouTube from <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpW5fJ0WARY">The Daily Wire</a>, Trump walked around behind a room divider in an underground hallway and told the cheering group that he wanted to welcome them to the exciting tour.
“Is everybody having a good time?” the president asked, and the group replied, “Yes.&#8221;
“But just have a good time … you are getting an extra special tour because you are the first one of the year,” he added. “An extra special tour, especially for this guy right here (as Trump pointed to one person in the front row.)”

&#8220;The Daily Show&#8221; senior correspondent Desi Lydic mocked Jesus in her defense of the White House&#8217;s decision to move forward with recognizing the &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/joe-biden-honors-trans-day-of-visibility-on-easter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Transgender Day of Visibility</a>&#8221; despite the fact that it coincided with Easter Sunday.
Lydic appeared to be arguing that because Christians believe in a triune God — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit — they were essentially worshipping a being that embraced multiple identities and that was the same as embracing radical gender ideology.
Grabien founder Tom Elliott shared several clips on the subject, beginning with an MSNBC panel discussion claiming that &#8220;the Jesus [Christians] celebrate today would have been inclusive of the transgender community.&#8221;

&#8220;Now, you wouldn&#8217;t think that Easter falling on a holiday that&#8217;s been March 31st for 15 years would be that big of a deal,&#8221; Lydic continued. &#8220;But conservatives processed this like a child meeting the Easter Bunny: by losing their f**king minds.&#8221;
A number of conservatives did criticize Biden for going ahead with Trans Visibility Day despite the fact that it fell on what is arguably the holiest day in the Christian calendar — particularly when he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-blasted-for-proclaiming-trans-people-made-in-the-image-of-god-on-easter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">went out of his way</a> to post several times on X in support of the trans community while his administration only mentioned the Easter holiday in passing.

Among others, former President Donald Trump&#8217;s re-election campaign <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/assault-on-the-christian-faith-trump-campaign-blasts-biden-declaring-easter-sunday-transgender-day-of-visibility">released a statement</a> calling the declaration an example of the Biden administration&#8217;s “years-long assault on the Christian faith.” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) <a href="https://twitter.com/SpeakerJohnson/status/1774147658841493617">posted</a> on X that the White House “has betrayed the central tenet of Easter — which is the resurrection of Jesus Christ &#8230; Banning sacred truth and tradition — while at the same time proclaiming Easter Sunday as &#8216;Transgender Day&#8217; — is outrageous and abhorrent. The American people are taking note.”
Former Wisconsin Republican Governor Scott Walker <a href="https://twitter.com/ScottWalker/status/1774159075451805791">said</a> on X, “This should [be] evidence to anyone who voted for Biden in 2020 because they thought he was reasonable that he is not. Biden is pandering to the radical fringe within politics. The only reason to pick Easter Sunday for this day was to stir up division with Christians. He is wrong!”
Levine subsequently mocked the critics in an interview with <a href="https://www.advocate.com/news/rachel-levine-transgender-biden-administration">The Advocate</a>, saying, “I felt that it was faux outrage. It was manufactured &#8230; It’s just that this Sunday was Easter, which is a very important holiday and very important event, and it also just happened to be the 31st.”

Levine then cited the iconic &#8220;Star Wars&#8221; films, declaring that the critics were, in reality, afraid: “You know there’s a quote from Yoda &#8230; Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering.”
“This is not a social contagion phenomenon, and we’ve been around forever, hiding in the closet. So, the ability in our society now is not to be in the closet. We need to foster that and to nurture that,” Levine insisted.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis slammed President Biden this week for saying that he did not declare this Easter Sunday as &#8220;Transgender Day of Visibility.&#8221;
Biden issued an official proclamation on Good Friday that declared that Sunday, March 31st —  which was also Easter Sunday — was &#8220;Transgender Day of Visibility.&#8221;
He further posted about it on Easter, writing on X: “Today, on Transgender Day of Visibility, I have a simple message to all trans Americans: I see you. You are made in the image of God, and you’re worthy of respect and dignity.”
Biden, when pressed about the issue on Monday, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-didnt-do-that-biden-says-he-did-not-declare-this-easter-sunday-as-transgender-day-of-visibility">said</a>: “I didn’t do that.”
DeSantis responded to Biden&#8217;s denial remarks during a press conference on Monday where the governor highlighted his latest victory for Floridians, which he said would save them <a href="https://www.flgov.com/2024/04/01/governor-ron-desantis-announces-450-million-for-a-second-consecutive-year-of-toll-relief-for-floridas-families/#:~:text=TALLAHASSEE%2C%20Fla.%E2%80%94Today%2C,April%202024%20to%20March%202025.">hundreds of millions</a> of dollars on toll roads.
&#8220;Wait a minute, he said that didn&#8217;t happen, he said he didn&#8217;t do that,&#8221; DeSantis exclaimed. &#8220;Which raises the question that he&#8217;s either not being honest with the public or he really didn&#8217;t know what was going on.&#8221;
&#8220;Who&#8217;s running the presidency? Is it a bunch of woke, 20-something-year-old White House staffers?&#8221; DeSantis asked. &#8220;So I don&#8217;t know who&#8217;s in charge. The fact that he&#8217;s not owning up to it — either way, it&#8217;s bad.&#8221;
DeSantis said that the holiday was important and that he spent the day with his family.
&#8220;It&#8217;s the most important, for Christians, holiday on the calendar,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And you know what Biden did, you know, I think was ridiculous, but it does raise the issue.&#8221;

A reporter asked Biden about the matter during the White House Easter Egg Roll.
&#8220;Mr. President, what does Easter mean to you, sir?&#8221; the reporter asked. &#8220;Sir, what does Easter mean to you?&#8221;
Biden, who claims to be a &#8220;devout Catholic,&#8221; responded: &#8220;Time for forgiveness and people getting together and a little bit of love and no phoniness. Be straight with people.&#8221;
The reporter responded by highlighting criticism from House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) about Biden proclaiming that Sunday as Transgender Day of Visibility.
&#8220;And Mr. Speaker Johnson the other day said, sir, Speaker Johnson said you betrayed the tenet of Easter by proclaiming Sunday, Easter Sunday, as Transgender Day. He called it outrageous and abhorrent,&#8221; the reporter said. &#8220;What do you say to Speaker Johnson?&#8221;
&#8220;He&#8217;s thoroughly uninformed,&#8221; Biden claimed. &#8220;I didn&#8217;t do that.&#8221;

Amid the ensuing backlash, the White House issued a statement suggesting Biden meant that he hadn&#8217;t been the one who established the Transgender Day of Visibility or specifically chosen March 31st for its recognition this year.
&#8220;President Biden is right. He did nothing in conflict with the ‘tenets of Easter,’ which he celebrated yesterday, nor did he choose the date of March 31st for the Transgender Day of Visibility, which has been set sine 2009,&#8221; White House Spokesman Andrew Bates told Fox News Digital in a statement.

Woods initially responded to President Joe Biden and his administration&#8217;s decision to go ahead with the Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31, despite the fact that this year, Easter Sunday fell on the same date.
&#8220;Joseph Biden ridicules Christians on our holiest of holidays&#8230;,&#8221; Woods posted, sharing a screenshot of the White House proclamation — issued on Good Friday even as Christians were commemorating the death of Jesus on the cross — calling on all Americans to join him in &#8220;lifting up the lives and voices of transgender people&#8221; on the 31st: Easter Sunday.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Monday addressed backlash against President Joe Biden for celebrating and declaring Easter Sunday as “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-declares-easter-sunday-transgender-day-of-visibility" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Transgender Day of Visibility</a>,&#8221; dismissing the controversy as intentional &#8220;misinformation&#8221; from conservatives.
Biden and his White House not only issued the proclamation on Friday, but also issued numerous posts on social media on Easter Sunday to <a href="https://twitter.com/POTUS/status/1774511985700352189" target="_blank" rel="noopener">celebrate</a> trans-identifying Americans. Notably, President Biden is the only president to ever recognize &#8220;Transgender Day of Visibility&#8221; with a presidential proclamation.
Still, Jean-Pierre contended that the controversy was actually &#8220;misinformation,&#8221; arguing that &#8220;Transgender Day of Visibility&#8221; just so happened to have fallen on the holy Christian day, and Biden was right to celebrate transgenderism in numerous posts and the proclamation.
&#8220;Every year for the past several years on March 31, Transgender Day of Visibility is marked,&#8221; she told the press. &#8220;Easter falls on different Sundays every year, and this year it happened to coincide with Transgender Visibility Day.&#8221;
&#8220;What we&#8217;ve been hearing out there [is] a lot of misinformation done on purpose,&#8221; she accused. &#8220;It is dishonest what we have heard the past 24 hours. It is untrue,&#8221; the press secretary claimed. 
Jean-Pierre also said Biden is a &#8220;Christian who celebrates Easter with family&#8221; and &#8220;stands for bringing people together and upholding the dignity and freedoms of every American,&#8221; adding that it&#8217;s &#8220;unsurprising&#8221; politicians on the Right &#8220;are seeking to divide and weaken our country with cruel, hateful, and dishonest rhetoric.&#8221;
&#8220;President Biden will never abuse his faith for political purposes or for profit,&#8221; Jean-Pierre said. &#8220;That is not what this administration is about. That is not what being a leader is about, and this misinformation out there [is] bad and it is dividing.&#8221;
