Mexican drug cartels are using drones packed with explosives in an area just south of the U.S. southern border, alarming members of the U.S. military as well as lawmakers in Congress.
Los Salazar, a cell of the infamous Sinaloa Cartel, is dropping explosives on its rival cartel Los Pelones only two miles from the U.S. border, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/08/08/us-news/hundreds-of-suspected-cartel-drones-some-with-explosives-are-flying-near-the-southern-border/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
In March, Air Force Gen. Gregory Guillot, commander of North American Defense Command and US Northern Command, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that more than 1,000 drones a month were crossing the U.S. border; border agents told The Post the cartels used drones to surveil U.S. law enforcement.
Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) who, back in December 2023, <a href="https://www.ernst.senate.gov/news/press-releases/ernst-stefanik-prevent-us-tech-from-equipping-ccp-spyware">joined</a> House Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) in urging the Department of Defense (DoD) to prevent U.S. technology from equipping Chinese-backed drones, has introduced an amendment to the NDAA requiring the DoD to implement countermeasures against drones by creating a Counter Unmanned Aviation Systems (CUAS) task force, the Post reported.

“On Border Czar Kamala Harris’ watch, murderous drug cartels are controlling the southern border and using drones for turf war attacks within miles of the United States,” Ernst told The Post. “These thugs must be held accountable. That’s why I’m equipping the Pentagon to respond to these incursions by any means necessary.”
The legislation would create a Counter Unmanned Aviation Systems (CUAS) task force and various reporting requirements for unmanned aerial incursions in US airspace.
Last December, Ernst <a href="https://www.ernst.senate.gov/news/press-releases/ernst-stefanik-prevent-us-tech-from-equipping-ccp-spyware" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>, “The U.S. Department of Defense should not be recommending approval of export control licenses for U.S. technology that advances DJI’s capabilities, which are actively being leveraged by our adversaries in attacks against our allies and partners, from Eastern Europe to Israel.”
In April, Sens. Jack Reed (D-RI) and Roger Wicker (R-MS) stated in an <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/04/22/drone-attacks-us-troops/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">op-ed</a>:

The first problem is that our nation lacks adequate drone detection capability. We still rely on the early warning radars that served us so well during the Cold War. Today, though, they are unable to detect, identify and track small aircraft at both high and low altitudes. Inside the United States, we can hardly track anything other than commercial aircraft. Almost none of our domestic military bases have the sensors to identify small drones. &#8230; The United States must launch a broad overhaul of its detection capabilities and streamline its ability to respond once a threat is identified.  &#8230;
As Iran’s attack on Israel proved, our adversaries see drones as an inexpensive, deadly solution to penetrate the most sophisticated layered air defenses. There is no reason to think the challenge is limited to the skies over Iraq and Israel; it could threaten the United States, and fast. That means U.S. policymakers have no time to spare in generating a better blueprint for defenses against drones.

The co-founder of the world&#8217;s largest and most powerful <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/drug-cartels" target="_blank" rel="noopener">drug trafficking organization</a> was arrested on U.S. soil this week after being duped by a leader of rival faction inside the cartel.
Ismael &#8220;El Mayo&#8221; Zambada, 76, a top leader and the co-founder of the Sinaloa Cartel, was lured onto a plane on Thursday by 38-year-old Joaquín Guzmán López, the son of Mexican drug cartel kingpin Joaquín &#8220;El Chapo&#8221; Guzmán Loera, who is locked up in the U.S. for the rest of his life after being convicted on numerous federal charges.
Joaquín Guzmán López allegedly got Zambada to board the plane by telling him that they were going to look at real estate in a different part of Mexico.
However, the Beechcraft King Air plane that they boarded turned north and landed just across the border in New Mexico at a small airport right next to El Paso where both men were quickly arrested by federal law enforcement officials.
The Daily Wire spoke with a retired U.S. law enforcement narcotics expert who worked in the field in both the U.S. and Mexico against drug cartels who confirmed that Zambada was lured onto the plane under &#8220;false pretenses.&#8221;
They were reportedly looking at clandestine landing strips that were built for drug trafficking routes and at property where they could set up drug labs, the former official, who requested to speak on anonymity to preserve their sources within the Mexican government, said.
&#8220;Joaquín Guzmán López and his brother Ovidio Guzmán López, who is jailed in the U.S. awaiting trial, are considered the least influential of Los Chapitos,&#8221; the former official said.
El Chapo&#8217;s sons, who are collectively known as the Chapitos, are at war with the faction of the Sinaloa Cartel that Zambada runs because they blame him for their father&#8217;s arrest in 2016. The Chapitos are known for being flashy and being hyper-violent toward their rivals, including feeding them alive to tigers.

The former official spoke to Mexican law enforcement officials who said that Zambada&#8217;s arrest has stunned Mexico&#8217;s top political, law enforcement, and military leaders — many of whom are &#8220;s****ing bricks&#8221; because they are worried that Zambada will reveal the extent of their involvement in drug trafficking, including accepting bribes, targeting the cartel&#8217;s rivals, providing safe passage corridors for drug shipments, and covering up a wide-range of crimes.
It was unclear why Joaquín Guzmán López decided to finally turn himself in since U.S. law enforcement had been encouraging him to do so for years.
Zambada has never spent any time in a jail or prison facility in either the U.S. or Mexico. He previously stated in a 2010 interview that he would rather &#8220;kill myself&#8221; than be locked up because he was &#8220;terrified of being incarcerated.&#8221;
Zambada has been charged in numerous U.S. indictments over the last two decades and will likely spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted.
Zambada was arraigned in federal court on Friday in El Paso where a judge read him all the charges that he faces in the U.S.
The Sinaloa Cartel is the largest and most powerful drug trafficking organization in the world and is by far the largest exporter of illicit fentanyl and methamphetamine to drug markets in the U.S.

The co-founder of Mexico&#8217;s notorious <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/drug-cartels" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sinaloa drug cartel</a> was reportedly arrested in New Mexico on Thursday during a U.S. law enforcement operation.
KTSM 9 News <a href="https://www.ktsm.com/news/drug-kingpin-reportedly-arrested-at-santa-teresa-airport/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that drug kingpin Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, who is in his late 70s and reportedly in poor health, was taken into custody at the Santa Teresa International Jetport in New Mexico which is right next to El Paso, Texas.
Zambada has been on the run from U.S. law enforcement for decades after he started the drug cartel with drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, who was sentenced to life in prison in the U.S. in 2019.

The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/25/world/americas/mexico-cartel-ismael-zambada-garcia-joaquin-guzman-lopez.html">reported</a> that Zambada and drug trafficker Joaquin Guzman Lopez, the son of El Chapo who is believed to have been elevated to a leadership role in the drug cartel, both surrendered to U.S. law enforcement officials at the small airport.
Both men face numerous charges in the U.S. for leading the cartel&#8217;s criminal operations that include pumping billions of dollars worth of drugs onto America&#8217;s streets, including being the primary drug cartel <a href="https://www.dea.gov/press-releases/2024/06/18/federal-indictment-alleges-alliance-between-sinaloa-cartel-and-money#:~:text=The%20Sinaloa%20Cartel%20is%20largely,both%20sides%20of%20the%20border.">responsible</a> for flooding illicit U.S. drug markets with fentanyl.
U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said that the two were part of &#8220;one of the most violent and powerful drug trafficking organizations in the world.&#8221;
&#8220;El Mayo and Guzman Lopez join a growing list of Sinaloa Cartel leaders and associates who the Justice Department is holding accountable in the United States,&#8221; the statement said. &#8220;That includes the Cartel’s other cofounder, Joaquin Guzman Loera, or &#8216;El Chapo&#8217;; another of El Chapo’s sons and an alleged Cartel leader, Ovidio Guzman Lopez; and the Cartel’s alleged lead sicario, Néstor Isidro Pérez Salas, or &#8216;El Nini.'&#8221;
&#8220;Fentanyl is the deadliest drug threat our country has ever faced, and the Justice Department will not rest until every single cartel leader, member, and associate responsible for poisoning our communities is held accountable,&#8221; the statement added.

Former President Donald Trump said during an interview this week that airstrikes against Mexican drug cartels are &#8220;absolutely&#8221; on the table if Mexico does not rapidly put an end to the fentanyl pouring into the U.S.
Trump made the remarks during an interview with Fox News host Jesse Watters broadcast on Tuesday after being asked if he would still follow through on the idea pushed by Republicans during the presidential primaries.
&#8220;Absolutely,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;Mexico is going to have to straighten it out really fast or the answer is, absolutely. They&#8217;re killing 300,000 people a year with fentanyl coming in.&#8221;
The former president highlighted China&#8217;s role in the fentanyl epidemic, saying that all of the precursors to make the drug come to Mexico directly from Chinese manufacturers.
&#8220;And China, by the way, will do what they have to do,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They&#8217;re gonna do it just like I had to deal with President Xi. But then Biden never took it over, that we&#8217;re gonna give the death penalty to anybody sending fentanyl our way. And that was part of my negotiation. They never did it because nobody forced it on our side.&#8221;
&#8220;Death penalty for drug dealers, death penalty for people that send fentanyl into our country,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;And that would have made a big difference. But you know what happened? Nothing because when Biden came in, nothing happened. And I don&#8217;t know why he&#8217;s so soft on China, but boy is soft on China.&#8221;
He added that Mexico will be given &#8220;a very short period of time&#8221; to control the situation, or they will face consequences from the U.S.

Daily Wire editor-in-chief John Bickley sits down with California mom Anne Fundner who brought the tens of thousands of attendees at the Republican National Convention to tears and to their feet on the night of July 16 when she told the tragic story of losing her 15-year-old son Weston to fentanyl. The blame for his death, she said, ultimately falls on President Biden and his administration. 
“I hold Joe Biden, Kamala Harris — the “Border Czar,” what a joke — and Gavin Newsom and every Democrat who supports open borders responsible for the death of my son,” said Fundner.

JOHN: Joining us now is Anne Fundner, a mother from California who lost her 15-year-old son to fentanyl and who is putting the blame on President Biden and his administration and the governor of her state, Gavin Newsom. Anne, thank you so much for joining us. You courageously took the stage at the RNC, gave a very powerful, emotional statement about your son and your family and the tragedy you guys suffered. I know it&#8217;s difficult to discuss, but can you tell us about what happened to your son, Weston?
ANNE: Well, Weston was a really good kid. We did everything right. We put him in sports and I was room mom. We had such a great relationship. He was my perfect little bouncing baby boy. He taught me what love was, an unconditional love like I had never known existed other than my own parents. He was my firstborn son, it just teaches you that love is so strong. And for the first time I understood what that meant when I looked at him and held him in my arms. He was my everything. He really was. I was so active in his life, his father was active, both of us. We did the family dinners every night, we had outings together, and fun vacations. We had a nice life. Private school. I think of things like we got him braces. He just had braces. Just everything that you do to set somebody up for the perfect life — 3.5 GPA; football, hockey, friends, you know. And fentanyl still found him because kids fall into peer pressure. And, as many conversations as I had with him, he was a teenager who came into his own independence and decided he wanted to fit in with a new crowd at a new school. He had always gone to private school. He wanted to try public school, too. And I think he just wanted these friends who were just fun. I guess he fell into peer pressure and it got a hold of him and it killed my son.

JOHN: You made a striking statement last night. You said, “Look, this is murder.” Can you unpack that for us? Why do you feel that way?
ANNE: Because the people who deal these drugs know that fentanyl kills. When you try fentanyl one time, it is not a question of if you are going to die, it&#8217;s when. Once you try it, it is very hard to get off of it and never do it again. These drug dealers are like sexual predators. They groom children. They know that if they can get a child to try it once, within three hours they&#8217;re going to get withdrawal symptoms that range from bone aches to fevers to cold sweats to bowel issues to headaches — things that make chemotherapy recovery look like a picnic in the park. It&#8217;s a very, very difficult thing on the body. Within two or three hours of the first time of trying it — one time. It&#8217;s 50 times more addictive than crack and these drug dealers know that, and that&#8217;s when they come around and say, “I got what you need to kind of ease this pain.” So if the child survives the first pill, now the drug dealer has a client. And everyone asks, “Why would they want to, like, kill their client?” Because it&#8217;s so addictive, they&#8217;re gonna have business. If they can get someone to try it one time, they&#8217;re gonna have business. So most kids don&#8217;t live more than a couple weeks. When I say it&#8217;s a groomer mentality, they know they can&#8217;t tell their parents. They&#8217;ve gotten them to do something wrong. They&#8217;re afraid. They&#8217;re struggling with an addiction that they never wanted just because they tried something one time — and by the way, they don&#8217;t know they&#8217;re trying fentanyl. They think they&#8217;re trying something like a Percocet or Xanax which are very popular, unfortunately, with kids these days, as a party drug. And it&#8217;s pure fentanyl. There&#8217;s no Xanax. It&#8217;s a pressed pill with blue powder that you can buy off of Amazon or someone who&#8217;s probably on drugs themselves is packing these pills. It&#8217;s like a chocolate chip cookie. There&#8217;s all these little chocolate chips of fentanyl in it, and you don&#8217;t know which side of the cookie is going to have the most fentanyl. If you get that dose, seven out of ten pills are deadly.
JOHN: And for you, were there any warning signs?
ANNE: No. My son was a really good kid. All kids, when they start walking in a high school situation, you want to make sure they&#8217;re making the best choice. We had conversations, you know, hey, that was really not a good choice the other night. But for the most part, nothing that I thought was concerning enough. I&#8217;ll tell you what, I don&#8217;t know if I was just blind or I just never imagined in a million years this would happen.

JOHN: I&#8217;ve got two young girls. The most terrifying thing to me is this sense that you cannot see this coming. And how sudden this is, and it really struck me when you spoke – that sense, it strikes terror in every parent. Now, you&#8217;ve blamed two administrations, the Biden administration and the Newsom administration for this tragedy. Can you tell us why?
ANNE: Because President Trump had the factories in China closed that produced the precursor chemicals. He had the borders secured as well as he could without some of the Democrat border cities putting a stop to their border walls. But for the most part, he did as much as he could to get that border wall secured. He had ICE. He had everything on lockdown at the border. He was doing everything he could to stop it. Now, there were Democrats that were doing their Democrat thing and not following along with what they&#8217;re supposed to be doing, so fentanyl still got over the border, but he was stopping it. I mean, he really was coming down on this hard and President Xi knew he meant business and he knew that he couldn&#8217;t get away with things with Trump. So when President Biden came in, the border&#8217;s just opened. You saw caravans flooding over. We don&#8217;t even know who these people are coming into our country. The cartels have just run wild. He allowed those China factories to be reopened under the Biden administration. I mean, this is their exasperated tragedy. They did this. There is no way to look around this. They opened the borders. They do nothing, nothing to stop this crisis at all. They did more to stop you from taking ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine during COVID than they are doing to stop people from coming in with fentanyl. And Gavin Newsom, he should be ashamed. He has children, young ones. And California is the wild, wild west. They will find a car of fentanyl, someone drug-running fentanyl, and they arrest them, the judge lets them out and says, “Come back in two weeks.” And how many people do you think come back? These people should be tried for attempted murder. They should. If they kill someone, they should go to jail for life. And look at what Sarah Huckabee Sanders did. She said, “And if you kill a child, you&#8217;re looking at the death penalty.” When you get strict penalties on this, you will see the fentanyl statistics drop dramatically because drug dealers do not want to go to jail and be sentenced to life. My son&#8217;s case was clear cut, on video. They knew who it was, he was the second person this person had murdered — and nothing, not even a slap on the wrist. Nothing happened. And if they&#8217;re not going to prosecute people, then why…? It doesn&#8217;t make sense. It&#8217;s almost like they want this to happen. Our youth have so many challenges, lots of indoctrination going on. It&#8217;s just one more thing they&#8217;re doing to hurt us and bring down our youth.

JOHN: It&#8217;s not only hard to hear the tragedy, it is very hard to hear that there&#8217;s no accountability, that there are actually no repercussions for these horrific crimes, as you&#8217;ve described. What can be done to reverse this?
ANNE: Close the borders, number one. Shut the borders. Let&#8217;s increase our ICE officers because they&#8217;re no resources there. Biden has just done a number on ICE. He took away the fentanyl machines that were at the ports of entry, which is a secondary kind of precaution. Because drug dealers don&#8217;t go through the front door, right? He did put some of those back in this weak fentanyl bill. That&#8217;s all he did in the fentanyl bill. But he did give money to Ukraine in that bill — and that&#8217;s really what that bill was about. It was such a weak bill, it was embarrassing. The cartels need to be labeled foreign terrorist organizations. This is a war on American soil and more people are dying than from all of our recent wars combined. On American soil. On 9/11 we attacked a country because they killed 3,000 people on American soil. Where is the attack on the cartels? They are killing our children. And why aren&#8217;t we holding China accountable? Shut those factories again. Fentanyl needs to be considered a weapon of mass destruction. And every community needs harsh, strict laws. You want to deal fentanyl? You&#8217;re going to jail. Period. Zero tolerance whatsoever. You&#8217;re going to jail. And if you kill someone, you&#8217;re going to jail for life or looking at the death penalty. And if you kill a child, you will look at the death penalty. These people know what they&#8217;re doing. They know what they&#8217;re doing. And they&#8217;re still pushing it on our children. They don&#8217;t care about your kids. They don&#8217;t care if they die. These pills come to your door for $7.50. Through Snapchat, through Instagram. They are ordering them online. Underneath your doorstep, leave $7.50 and they&#8217;ll come straight to you. They know they have an income. They have so many clients. And they&#8217;re all expendable. And there&#8217;s more behind them.

<a href="https://consumersresearch.org/">Consumers’ Research</a>, an independent education organization for consumers, launched a multi-pronged media campaign on Tuesday warning that Americans might be opening themselves up to financial risk by using Tether. Tether is one of the world’s most commonly traded cryptocurrencies and is linked one-to-one to the U.S. dollar.
“We are shining a light on Tether for their suspicious business practices, including a decade-long refusal to perform an audit and the routine use of the product by terrorists and traffickers of drugs and humans,” Consumers’ Research Executive Director Will Hild said in a statement shared with The Daily Wire.
The campaign against Tether includes a seven-figure national television buy, a Times Square digital billboard, and a website called “<a href="https://tetheredtocorruption.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tethered Corruption</a>.”
“Is Tether the next FTX?” the <a href="https://x.com/WillHild/status/1803040925007892887" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ad asks</a>, before saying that the cryptocurrency is “chronically under investigation” and that it&#8217;s the “go-to cryptocurrency” for drug cartels and human traffickers.
Multiple reports in the last year have <a href="https://www.wsj.com/finance/currencies/most-popular-cryptocurrency-keeps-showing-up-in-illicit-finance-71d32e5e?mod=article_inline" target="_blank" rel="noopener">highlighted</a> Tether’s use by Hamas, Chinese fentanyl suppliers, and the North Korean nuclear program. Back in 2020, the Justice Department <a href="https://coingeek.com/drug-cartel-used-tether-to-bribe-us-state-govt-officials-doj/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">charged</a> six members of an international drug ring with using Tether to bribe a government official.

The cryptocurrency has also been used by countries like Russia and Venezuela to get around sanctions. According to <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-03-27/tether-usdt-is-most-used-stablecoin-in-illicit-crypto-flows-trm-says" target="_blank" rel="noopener">some estimates</a>, there were about $19.3 billion in illicit Tether transactions in 2023.
Tether has pushed back on allegations of wrongdoing, saying that estimates of illicit activity are exaggerated and that it aids law enforcement.
“We have always assisted law enforcement when called upon to act, and we remain fully committed to continuing to work proactively with agencies globally,” the company <a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/tether-responds-us-lawmakers-calls-doj-action" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in December 2023. “Tether has and will assist in identifying and freezing addresses subject to sanctions, engaged in illicit activity, or engaged in any form of terrorist financing.”
However, Consumers’ Research says that Tether has evaded real accountability, comparing it to FTX, a cryptocurrency exchange that imploded in November 2022, costing customers more than $10 billion.
“Given these warning signs, we fear that Tether may very well be the next FTX,” Hild said. “Consumers should be wary of any so-called stablecoin that refuses to properly certify that they actually hold the assets they claim.”

Border Patrol agents in California made two arrests and seized 25 AK-47 style rifles that were suspected to be in transit to criminal entities in Mexico.
The seizure of the firearms, which is thought to be the largest in the history of the Yuma Border Patrol Sector, resulted in the arrests of Jose Palma Almendariz, a United States citizen, and his 17-year-old brother, both of whom now face federal charges. The arrests were made in Blythe, California on the border of Arizona about 100 miles from the Mexican border.
“Transnational Criminal Organizations traffic weapons to fuel their illicit activity on both sides of the border,” Yuma Sector Border Patrol Chief Sean McGoffin <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/border/2024/06/16/border-patrol-in-california-seizes-25-ak-style-rifles-destined-for-mexican-cartel/">explained</a> when discussing the incident. “This weapons seizure clearly demonstrates the importance of our Border Security mission and commitment of keeping our communities safe.”
The duo was stopped by Border Patrol agents who were then assisted by law enforcement officers in the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force. Law enforcement officials <a href="https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/local-media-release/us-border-patrol-yuma-sector-agents-seize-illegal-weapons">found</a> the 25 rifles, 25 30-round magazines, and two pistols. Authorities interviewed the two suspects and now believe that the weapons were picked up in Phoenix, Arizona, and would have been taken to Mexico if the duo had not been arrested.
Jose Palma Almendariz is now being held in the Blythe Jail, though his brother, a juvenile, remains free while the case continues.
The arrests come as cartel conflict persists about a hundred miles south in the Mexican state of Sonora, which has seen violence between those associated with the Sinaloa Cartel and the Juarez Cartel. Search parties in the area <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/border/2024/06/12/mexican-search-parties-find-numerous-bodies-in-clandestine-graves-near-arizona-border/">recently discovered</a> the remains of 20 bodies, some of which were dismembered or partially incinerated, which provides a testament to the persistent conflict between the cartels.
While those arrested in this incident may have been trafficking weapons to criminal organizations in Mexico, elected officials have warned that international criminal organizations are gaining a foothold in the United States due to the porous southern border. Rep. Tony Gonzalez (R-TX) warned of Tren de Aragua, a ruthless Venezuelan prison gang, which he says is becoming more powerful within the United States. “This gang in several years is going to be the dominant transnational criminal organization throughout the United States. There’s no doubt in my mind,” Rep. Gonzalez <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/congressman-from-texas-warns-that-venezuelan-gang-is-consolidating-power-in-america-amid-open-border">warned</a>, also explaining that “they gobble up territory like a cancer.”

Border Patrol Makes Two Arrests, Seizes 25 Rifles Suspected To Be In Transit To Mexico

China is the main driver behind fentanyl being smuggled into the United States by Mexican drug cartels, according to investigative journalist and author Peter Schweizer.
Schweizer, author of “Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans,” discussed the crisis on “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/fentanyl-america-s-silent-epidemic" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fentanyl: America’s Silent Epidemic</a>,” part of a DailyWire+ series by Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro on The Divided States of Biden. The author said the fentanyl trade that contributes to tens of thousands of American deaths every year begins in China. 
“They’re the senior partner. The drug cartels are really the junior partner in the fentanyl trade,” Schweizer told Shapiro, speaking of the Chinese regime led by President Xi Jinping.
Ninety percent of fentanyl precursor chemicals shipped from China to Mexico arrive via Mexico’s Port of Manzanillo. The port is run by a Chinese company, according to Schweizer. From the port, the chemicals are taken to a town in northern Mexico close to the U.S. border. About 2,000 Chinese workers work in cartel labs to craft the precursor chemicals into fentanyl and then the fentanyl into pills resembling common drugs such as Vicodin or Adderall.
“Now the drug cartels want to distribute their product in the United States. What do they do? They use Chinese apps. They use Chinese communications devices because they know that China will not share that information with U.S. law enforcement,” Schweizer said.
Money from the drug trade is then laundered through the Chinese financial system.
“The Mexican drug cartels now launder their money in Chinese state-owned banks, and, according to our government, they use Chinese students in the United States on education visas to do this,” Schweizer said.

China will continue to fuel the fentanyl trade in the United States until U.S. political leadership decides to make China feel real consequences from participating in it, according to Schweizer.
“We need to start looking at punitive actions we can take to damage them. I’m generally a free trade guy, but do you want to have free trade with somebody who is poisoning your citizens in such a systematic way? I don’t think so,” he said. “We’ve got to get tough and we’ve got to make clear: you are going to suffer consequences and real damage until you stop doing this to our people.”

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, or AMLO, claimed during an interview that aired on Sunday that he has ended corruption in Mexico and that the hundreds of political assassinations that are carried out every year in his country are not a threat to democracy.
AMLO made the claims during a &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; interview about the crisis on the U.S. southern border and about the Mexican drug cartels.
The left-wing news program noted that AMLO takes a &#8220;bare knuckle brawls with the press&#8221; which it said was in &#8220;sharp contrast to the softer approach he&#8217;s taken with the drug cartels.&#8221;
AMLO claimed that his &#8220;hugs not bullets&#8221; method for dealing with the cartels has worked out &#8220;very well,&#8221; even though violence remains high and the cartels have grown in size.
When asked about the more than 30,000 murders that happen in Mexico every year, AMLO claimed that the Mexican government prosecuted &#8220;all&#8221; of the cases, even though only around 5% are actually prosecuted.
AMLO deflected blame for the role his country has played in the fentanyl crisis in the United States since nearly all of the illicit fentanyl that ends up killing Americans is manufactured by cartels in Mexico.
&#8220;Fentanyl is produced in the United States, in Canada, and in Mexico,&#8221; he claimed, ignoring the fact that the illicit fentanyl used in street drugs comes from his country. &#8220;And the chemical precursors come from Asia. You know why we don&#8217;t have the drug consumption that you have in the United States? Because we have customs, traditions, and we don&#8217;t have the problem of the disintegration of the family.&#8221;
He also falsely claimed that drug consumption in Mexico was not a problem.
When asked if he has &#8220;completely&#8221; eliminated &#8220;corruption&#8221; in Mexico, AMLO claimed: &#8220;Yes, basically, because corruption in Mexico started from the top down.&#8221;
&#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; noted that independent organizations have found there has been &#8220;no improvement in the corruption problems that have plagued Mexico for decades&#8221; under AMLO.
When asked about the 355 government officials and political candidates who were murdered last year in his country, he downplayed the matter, saying there were only &#8220;some specific instances.&#8221;
He said that the assassinations posed no threat to democracy.

Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX), whose district in southern <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/texas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Texas</a> includes hundreds of miles of the U.S. border, said during an interview this week that he believes that Mexican drug cartels are dialing back their human smuggling operations ahead of the 2024 presidential election in an effort to help President Joe Biden.
After months of record-breaking numbers being posted every month for illegal border crossings on the U.S.-Mexico border, January&#8217;s numbers subsided, falling to around 128,410, which the administration tried to tout as a major victory since it was down substantially from the month before when <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-shatters-record-with-historic-number-of-illegal-aliens-encountered-in-december" target="_blank" rel="noopener">more than 302,000 illegal aliens</a> were encountered — the highest total in U.S. history.
However, it was still the highest January numbers ever recorded by the U.S. government, according to Gonzales.
&#8220;When you say border crossings are down, you&#8217;re talking about January being the most encounters ever,&#8221; Gonzales told Newsweek. &#8220;So, was it as bad as December? No, because that was [an] all-time, but it still was the worst January ever. So, that&#8217;s not good. It&#8217;s not good.&#8221;
&#8220;I do think the cartels are trying to carry the Biden administration a couple rounds,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;Mexico has an election in June that no one&#8217;s really tracking. And, I suspect, for the next couple of months, everything will be cleaned up a little bit. I mean, over 7,000 people a day is still astronomical.&#8221;
National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd addressed the issue of Mexican drug cartels paying attention to U.S. politics and adjusting their operations accordingly.
Judd was asked if he expects another major surge of illegal aliens storming into the U.S. ahead of November due to the increasing likelihood that former President Donald Trump could be elected again.

On Wednesday on “The Ben Shapiro Show,” Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro interviewed a leading expert on the southern border crisis, Anthony Rubin, one of the only journalists to have ever traveled and documented the entire mass migration route from Quito, Ecuador, to the U.S. border.
Asked about the route, Rubin, the founder of muckraker.com, stated, “The whole world is flying into Quito, Ecuador, because it&#8217;s got the easiest entry requirements basically of any country in the world. And then from there, they are crossing into Colombia illegally and trekking all the way up to the United States, country by country, crossing through the Darien Gap Jungle &#8230; making the way all the way up here aided by the United Nations and associated organizations along the way.”
“Who actually is trafficking people?” Shapiro asked. “At what point do drug cartels take over? Is it individuals? Is it groups?”
“A lot of people think when you when you&#8217;re talking to them about this that it&#8217;s like one continuous caravan all the way from Ecuador to the U.S. border,” Rubin answered. “It doesn&#8217;t really work like that. You&#8217;re with a group that&#8217;s continuously changing. You&#8217;ll be with one group entering the Darien Gap, then you&#8217;ll pop out, and then that group kind of splits apart as people travel at their own pace. And then another group will form at the northern part of Panama and then a group will continue to gather and you&#8217;ll get another caravan that&#8217;ll form at southern Mexico.”
“And so it&#8217;s always kind of shifting and evolving,” he continued. “But as far as the groups that bring you through, the groups that brought us through the Darien Gap, there are many routes that you can take through there. The route that we took was the route that is used by special interest aliens. That would be anybody that&#8217;s coming from countries that perhaps harbor terrorists, that have state-sponsored terrorism.”
“It could also be countries such as China, Russia, people that have a little bit more money,” he said.  “And so this route, what happens is you actually have to get smuggled into Panama by boats. You actually are already starting in Panamanian territory. And then you actually trek east to west through the jungle until you hit Highway 1. And so that&#8217;s the route that we took. Along that route, it&#8217;s indigenous tribes that are guiding you through the jungle. You could still die in there. These indigenous tribes are still armed. “
“In Mexico, we ran into at least three cartels; we were going to cross into the United States, right where Elon Musk&#8217;s SpaceX is in Boca Chica, Texas. We were walking up this public Mexican beach, just public coastline right there next to the Gulf of Mexico,  and we got picked up by this truck who told us we can&#8217;t go any further; it&#8217;s going to be trouble for you if you keep walking up there,” he recalled. “This truck starts driving us back down south to where we came from and pulled up next to another pickup truck that was filled with three armed men. These are serious guys carrying assault rifles &#8230; they just start screaming at us. They order us out of this one truck into their truck, and they drive us inland. And about 10 minutes inland, they pull us out of the truck, lay out all the stuff where they can find our drone and our camera, and now they&#8217;re thinking that perhaps we are spying on them. They don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s going on. So they start searching us for wires. They put us on our knees, they take hostage-type photos.”
“And during this time, another truck with four more armed men has pulled up with another seven armed men surrounding us,” he continued. “It&#8217;s not looking good. I&#8217;m you know, I&#8217;m trying to keep my cool. But certainly you start to realize that this situation is long . &#8230; And what happens is they tie up our hands, they throw a blindfold on myself.”
“Eventually the doors open up, the car stops and we&#8217;re in the middle of an empty field,” he said. “And I&#8217;m not sure what&#8217;s about to happen, but it doesn&#8217;t look good, right? But they lay out all of our electronics and they take out a crowbar and they smash everything to bits and pieces, and then they load it into another car and drop us off at the port of entry and basically say, never come back here again.”
“I&#8217;ve been down to the southern border myself; the drug cartels have total control over America&#8217;s southern border. I wonder if that was your experience as well,” Shapiro commented.
“Absolutely,” Rubin answered. “And you know, it&#8217;s not just the southern border or the northern border of Mexico. It&#8217;s throughout Mexico. The drug cartels are in control of that entire route. And what&#8217;s incredible is you have the United Nations and associated organizations that are handing out maps, ‘migration route maps’ to say ‘Here&#8217;s where you need to cross into Mexico. Here&#8217;s the route you&#8217;re going to take or the routes you can take through Mexico. Here&#8217;s the different crossing points of the United States.’ And all of those points are controlled by the cartel. It&#8217;s known that if you&#8217;re going to cross at any of those points, you&#8217;re going have to pay a human smuggler that is associated with the drug cartel &#8230; that&#8217;s the only way you&#8217;re actually going to be able to pass through. And so these, quote-unquote, ‘humanitarian organizations’ are really lining or helping to line the pockets of the cartel with millions, perhaps billions of dollars. That&#8217;s not an estimate that I made up. Those are legitimate estimates by people who have studied this and crunched the numbers.”
“For example, when we rode the Mexican train of death, that&#8217;s the train that runs across Mexico; it&#8217;s based like a freight train,” he stated. “And you will see illegal aliens riding on the top of it. The men who loaded us up onto the top of that train were serious cartel men in the middle of the night. these are men that are entirely masked up. They&#8217;re wearing body armor. They actually had swords tucked behind their body armor &#8230; I wasn&#8217;t aware what the swords were for at first. And then later I find out that&#8217;s because if they need to kill somebody, they don&#8217;t want to make any noise. That&#8217;s why they have the sword. And of course, they&#8217;re carrying assault rifles or shotguns. And these are the men that are loading you up onto the train of death in the middle of the night. So there&#8217;s nothing humanitarian about it. And yet all of Mexico, at least the parts where this route is going through, it&#8217;s all controlled by the cartel.”

The top headlines over at the Washington Post are all about a U.N. court ordering Israel around and an Alabama man being put to death with nitrogen gas. They say nothing about the giant wave of illegal immigration on a border that is now spurring a constitutional showdown between the state of Texas, along with 24 other states, against the federal government.
It’s the same at the New York Times. Nothing at the top of the homepage — nothing about what is going on at the border.
Why? Because when it comes to the Democratic Party and their lackeys in the press, they must cover up what is going on at the southern border. Because if Americans understand what&#8217;s going on at the southern border, Joe Biden will not be reelected.
It is that simple.

About a week and a half ago, a letter went out from ten retired FBI directors and experts in counter-intelligence. They pointed out — and they were absolutely correct — that this is a massive national security threat. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-country-has-been-invaded-former-fbi-officials-issue-grave-warning-on-bidens-open-border" target="_blank" rel="noopener">They wrote</a>:

It would be difficult to overstate the danger represented by the presence inside our borders of what is a comparatively multi-division army of single young adult males from hostile nations and regions whose background, intent, or allegiance is completely unknown. …
In 2021, the demographics of those crossing the porous southern border started to shift. Young men from around the world traveling alone and holding questionable motivations dramatically increased in numbers to become the most common profile of those breaching the nation&#8217;s borders.</blockquote>
This happens to be true. We were told by Border Patrol agents, who shall remain nameless, that the number of terrorists who are being captured at the border is completely unspecified. They have no idea. Even when somebody is caught on the terror watch list, that doesn&#8217;t necessarily mean the person is a terrorist because the terror watch list is incredibly vague.  
There is abundant camera coverage of the entire southern border which is very comprehensive. But there must be actual agents who are watching 24-hours a day to see what they can see.

Now, many of those people don&#8217;t get captured. They are filmed on cameras, and they escape into the interior. We have no idea who they are. Last year, that number was at least 600,000 — and that is just last year. What about the unknown gotaways? How the hell should CBP know? They have no idea. And maybe they&#8217;ll give some estimates, but they actually have no idea.
Here&#8217;s the key point: What we do know is that if those people wanted to just be released in the United States, and wanted the U.S. government to know who they were and what they were about, or if they just wanted to come here and work illegally and then hope for amnesty, get married, apply for a green card, and be on welfare — then the easiest way to do that would be to throw up their hands and surrender to CBP.
The people who are crossing as unknown gotaways are people who should not be in the country under any circumstances — not just because they&#8217;re illegal immigrants, but because they probably have criminal records or drug connections at a minimum. Many of them probably have terror connections as well because that&#8217;s why they&#8217;re avoiding CBP.
By the way, the drug cartels know this. In some of the most shocking footage from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/the-divided-states-of-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the documentary</a> we just put out at Daily Wire, CBP told us that if the drug cartels are being chased by CBP and are traveling with children, they will discard the children. We&#8217;re talking about babies. They discard the children, hoping that CBP will go and care for the children — as they are morally duty bound to do — so the adults can evade arrest. They will take human babies and throw them to the side of the road in an attempt to distract CBP, so they can escape into the interior of the country. 
The drug cartels have no regard for human life. None. Again, this is being facilitated by the federal government. The letter from the retired FBI directors and experts in counter intelligence stated, “Those of us who have fought terrorism know that, historically, successful terror attacks invite mimicry … having a large number of young males now within our borders who could begin attacking gatherings of unarmed citizens, in imitation of 10/7 and at the behest of a foreign terror group, must be considered a distinct possibility.”
That makes perfect sense.
What we are watching right now is absolutely unprecedented on our southern border.
