<p><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/drew-barrymore"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Drew Barrymore</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> said no matter how many times her kids have asked, she refuses to give her two young daughters cell phones and “access to everything.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Speaking at the taping of “</span><a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7RnxY3OlZI/?igsh=MTBlZjE4YzMxOA%3D%3D"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Drew Barrymore Show</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">,” the 49-year-old actress and talk show host spoke to her audience about the challenges of parenting kids in a time when everyone has cell phones, including kids.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I am struggling. I have a ten- and an eleven-year-old daughter,” Barrymore said in the clip posted by the show on Instagram. “Most parents are dealing with it. A lot of parents are giving their kids phones at very young ages.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“And it’s just access to everything,” she added. “It’s really tough. I’m like very overwhelmed. But I’m not going to give up. I’m going to give in. I haven’t let my kids have phones yet.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Hollywood star talked about how amazing it is to have “wanted so badly” for her kids to love her and their environment, but she’s willing to risk it to keep them safe.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“None of us want our children to resent us and we don’t want to be their enemy,&#8221; Barrymore explained. “It is such a hard choice to say, ‘I don’t care if you hate me for this. I don’t care if you are mad at me for this. I know that I’m doing the right thing by you. And I accept your anger.’”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The comments drew loud applause from her audience members.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I mean, my staff, for example, sometimes they&#8217;ll show me little things that just amuse me. Like, apparently, some people love to talk about the way I laugh,&#8221; Harris said.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I have my mother&#8217;s laugh and I grew up around a bunch of women in particular who laughed from the belly. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The existence of a script for “</span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Happy Gilmore 2</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">” has been confirmed by Drew Barrymore.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The daytime talk show host revealed the news in a preview clip from Friday’s episode of her eponymous show.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I want it. I need it. And I stayed up last night with my daughter watching ‘Billy Madison,’” Barrymore says in the video. “I sent Sandler a video of that, and then he sent me another video back, and I’m waiting to see if he’s confirming about the ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment"><span style="font-weight: 400;">script</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I saw </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/adam-sandler"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Adam [Sandler]</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> about two weeks ago, and he says to me, ‘McDonald, you’re gonna love this,&#8217;” he told Cleveland radio’s &#8220;Ken Carman Show&#8221; in late March. “I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘How about that,’ and he shows me the first draft of Happy Gilmore 2. Maybe you should cut that out because I don’t wanna be a liar, but he did show me that, and I thought, ‘Well, that would be awesome.’ So it’s in the works. Fans demand it, damn it!”</span></p>

They spoke with THR on September 11 when they found out Barrymore’s show was supposed to come back on the air despite the ongoing strike.</span></p>

That includes not promoting work covered by television, theatrical, or streaming contracts. “The View” and other programs have returned to television because they also fall under the “Network Code,” which makes them technically exempt.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“The Talk” and “The Jennifer Hudson Show” were also scheduled to come back on air Monday but have now decided to take a pause.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Barrymore said in a now-deleted video that she was trying to make the right decision for her employees while still respecting the terms of the strike. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I know there is just nothing I can do that will make this OK to those that it is not OK with. I fully accept that,&#8221; the talk show host said in the video posted to Instagram Friday. &#8220;I just want everyone to know my intentions have never been in a place to upset or hurt anymore. <p>The 43-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., was arrested by Southampton Town Police at 11:59 p.m. local time and booked in relation to a fourth-degree misdemeanor charge of stalking, according to a press release from Lt. Todd Spencer, a spokesperson for the department, according to <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/drew-barrymore-alleged-stalker-chad-michael-busto-arrested-new-york-1235574423/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hollywood Reporter</a>.</p>
<p>He was held overnight and during a Friday morning arraignment, he was reportedly warned by Judge Barbara Wilson to stay away from the talk show host, a Southampton court source told the <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/08/25/drew-barrymores-stalker-freed-by-li-judge-warned-to-stay-away-from-her/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NY Post</a>.</p>
<p>The man, who has a long criminal record, was then freed by the judge because of the state&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ny-major-crime-soars-police-blame-bail-reform" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bail reform</a> laws, the outlet noted. In 2019, a misdemeanor fourth-degree stalking charge was no longer bail-eligible following legislation that prevents judges from being able to send criminals of most misdemeanors to jail.</p>
<p>On Wednesday, the crazed fan was detained and released after he had been located going door to door in Barrymore&#8217;s neighborhood allegedly asking residents where the actress lived.</p>
<p>During a follow-up investigation, the department&#8217;s detectives were notified of the fan&#8217;s alleged conduct and prior reported incidents, which &#8220;led to facts that substantiated a charge for stalking,&#8221; according to the department, THR noted. On Thursday afternoon, he was taken into custody.</p>
<p>On Monday, the 48-year-old actress was talking with singer and actor Reneé Rapp during an event at a cultural center in Manhattan when the alleged stalker approached, interrupting the discussion, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/pop-culture-news/drew-barrymore-rushed-nyc-stage-renee-rapp-man-yelling-know-approaches-rcna101197" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a> reported.</p>

<p>Rapp&#8217;s body language seemed to change rapidly as the man got closer to the stage. The singer then stood up, put her arm around Barrymore, and escorted her out of the room. In the clip, two people who look like security guards intercepted the man and escorted him out. There was no police report on the incident filed, the outlet noted.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/drew-barrymore-gets-emotional-talking-about-raising-her-kids-in-the-public-eye" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Drew Barrymore</a> was ushered away from a panel event in New York City on Monday after a man rushed the stage telling the actress, &#8220;I need to see you.&#8221;</p>
<p>In a video that surfaced on social media, the 48-year-old was talking with singer and actor Reneé Rapp during an event at a cultural center in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/manhattan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Manhattan</a> when the man approached, interrupting the discussion, &#8221; <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/pop-culture-news/drew-barrymore-rushed-nyc-stage-renee-rapp-man-yelling-know-approaches-rcna101197" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a> reported.</p>
<p>Barrymore appeared calm in the clip as she discussed her career until she heard someone yelling her name, &#8220;Drew Barrymore,&#8221; and reportedly shouting his own name. It was then the talk show host&#8217;s expression changed, and she said, &#8220;Oh my God! Yes! Hi!&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;You know who I am,&#8221; the man reportedly continued yelling. &#8220;I need to see you at some point while you&#8217;re in New York, okay?&#8221;</p>
<p>Rapp&#8217;s body language seemed to change rapidly as the man got closer to the stage. The singer then stood up, put her arm around Barrymore, and escorted her out of the room.</p>
<p>In the clip, two people who look like security guards intercepted the man and escorted him out.</p>

<p>One person who witnessed the incident told the <a href="https://www.insider.com/drew-barrymore-renee-rapp-escorted-off-stage-interview-2023-8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">outlet</a>, &#8220;At first I thought it was a planned guest because Drew was so warm and excited to see him.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;But then we saw Reneé kick into protective mode,&#8221; the person added. &#8220;Then he said his name and started to get more aggressive so we all realized something was off.&#8221;</p>

<p>After things seemed to calm down, the &#8220;Charlie&#8217;s Angels&#8221; star returned to the stage, calling Rapp her bodyguard.</p>
<p>&#8220;Well, I have a new definition of your sexiness, it&#8217;s that level of protectiveness,&#8221; Barrymore said. &#8220;That went full &#8216;Bodyguard.&#8217; You are my Kevin Costner.&#8221;</p>
<p>At the time of this publication, no police report on the incident has been filed.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/steven-spielberg"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Steven Spielberg</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> said he saw firsthand some of the challenges </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/drew-barrymore"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Drew Barrymore</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> experienced during childhood but couldn’t do much to intervene.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The 76-year-old filmmaker recalled what it was like having Barrymore on the set of his cult classic science-fiction film, “</span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies"><span style="font-weight: 400;">E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">” (1982), when she was just seven years old. The actress said in an interview published in </span><a href="https://www.vulture.com/article/drew-barrymore-show-profile.html"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Vulture</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that Spielberg was “the only person in my life to this day that ever was a parental figure.” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Academy Award winner eventually became Barrymore’s godfather after declining her request that he step in as her dad. Her birth father, the late actor John Drew Barrymore, was abusive and an alcoholic, the outlet noted.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Spielberg didn’t shatter the little girl’s illusion that E.T. was real and not just a robot. He even said to have kept operators on hand so Barrymore could eat lunch with her “co-star.” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I didn’t want to burst the bubble,” Spielberg said of keeping up the ruse. “So I simply said, ‘It’s okay, E.T. is so special E.T. has eight assistants. I am the director, I only have one.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The article also noted how Spielberg would tell Barrymore to remove her bright red lipstick when she showed up on set. The actress previously described her <a href="https://variety.com/2023/film/news/steven-spielberg-helpless-drew-barrymore-et-robbed-childhood-1235634964/">tumultuous</a> childhood, which included using marijuana when she was ten and snorting cocaine at 12. Barrymore did her first stint in rehab at 12 years old.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“She was staying up way past her bedtime, going to places she should have only been hearing about, and living a life at a very tender age that I think robbed her of her childhood,” Spielberg told the publication. “Yet I felt very helpless because I wasn’t her dad. I could only kind of be a consigliere to her.”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The situation stemmed from a recent interview with the 48-year-old former child star in </span><a href="https://www.vulture.com/article/drew-barrymore-show-profile.html"><span style="font-weight: 400;">New York Magazine</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. While discussing friends who have lost parents, Barrymore talked about her complicated relationship with her mother.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“All their moms are gone, and my mom’s not. And I’m like, ‘Well, I don’t have that luxury.’ But I cannot wait,” the </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities"><span style="font-weight: 400;">actress</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> said.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I don’t want to live in a state where I wish someone to be gone sooner than they’re meant to be so I can grow. I actually want her to be happy and thrive and be healthy. But I have to f***ing grow in spite of her being on this planet.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A short time later during the same interview, Barrymore seemed to walk back her original comments. “I dared to say it, and I didn’t feel good,” she said. “I do care. I’ll never not care. I don’t know if I’ve ever known how to fully guard, close off, not feel, build the wall up.”</span></p>
<p>After tabloids, including Page Six, picked up the story and published headlines claiming that Barrymore wished her mom was dead, the actress headed to social media to clarify her statements.</p>
<p>&#8220;You know what, to all you tabloids out there, you have been f***ing with my life since I was 13 years old. I have never said that I wish my mother was dead,&#8221; Barrymore told <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CtIAMOQAkiK/">Instagram</a> followers in a video message. &#8220;How dare you put those words in my mouth. I have been vulnerable, and tried to figure out a very difficult, painful relationship, while admitting it is difficult to do while a parent is alive.&#8221;</p>

<p>She continued: &#8220;And that, for those of us who have to figure that out, in real time, cannot wait, as in they cannot wait for the time, not that the parent is dead. Don&#8217;t twist my words around or ever say that I wish my mother was dead. I have never said that. I never would.&#8221;</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The talk show host has previously discussed her experiences growing up in Hollywood with her mom Jaid as her manager. She recalled being given a lot of freedom and being exposed to adult situations, including being taken to Studio 54 as a child. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Barrymore went to rehab at the age of 12 for drug and alcohol abuse and was placed into a psychiatric ward in California at 13 at her mother’s request. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I think she created a monster, and she didn’t know what to do with the monster,” the “50 First Dates” actress told Howard Stern during a 2021 interview.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Daughters to mothers, I think we have a predisposed expectation where we don&#8217;t want you to be selfish,&#8221; Barrymore told </span><a href="https://www.hellomagazine.com/celebrities/20220620143449/drew-barrymore-difficult-relationship-estranged-mother-revelation/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hello Magazine</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. &#8220;My mom was selfish too and it screwed me up, but you know what, I carried that with me and I acted from a place of a wounded child who also felt like they had to be an adult too quickly, and I didn&#8217;t understand the parent-child dynamic.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;As selfish as my mom was, I have to give her a lot of room too because I was not easy,&#8221; she said, describing her “wild child” teen years. &#8220;Our life was set up for crash and burn disaster, I was completely out of control.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;She did not know how to control me anymore,&#8221; Barrymore said. &#8220;These were very painful things for both of us to go through…Her choices came from things that were real for her.&#8221;</span></p>
