A documentary film is in the works about the ill-fated <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/oceangate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">OceanGate</a> Titan submersible, and it promises to tell the story behind the headlines about the underwater craft that imploded, killing all five of its passengers in June 2023.
The film is directed by Aron Arngrimsson, who was the last person to see the Titan crew alive before the small crew set out on its doomed fatal trip to see the remains of the Titanic on June 18, 2023, the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/titan-submersible-implosion-documentary-in-works-1236088385/?taid=6761ae58a1361c00013e3066&amp;utm_campaign=trueanthem&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter">Hollywood Reporter</a> reported.
“He [Arngrimsson] exclusively tells the emotional experience of five Titan crew members, revealing the family stories behind the media headlines and exposing the painful consequences of an exploration gone wrong,” a synopsis from the producers read, per THR.
The documentary, currently in post production, comes from <a href="https://variety.com/2024/film/news/titan-submersible-disaster-documentary-being-made-1236251341/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Arngrimsson&#8217;s Dirty Dozen Productions</a> and RadicalMedia, the outlet noted.

“The unprecedented access Aron had to the Titan crew, their families and this story, was remarkable,” Stacey Reiss, executive producer at RadicalMedia, said.
“He was there, first-hand, experiencing all of this in real time,” she added. “It was extremely important to us to tell this story authentically, given the tremendous media attention it received.”
The movie will include actual first-hand footage taken by Arngrimsson of the Titan submersible heading out on its fatal expedition.
“We are committed to telling this important story with the thoroughness it deserves, through exclusive interviews with the Titan crew members and in the aftermath with the families,” Arngrimsson said in a statement about the project.

“A debris field was discovered within the search area by an ROV near the Titanic,” USGC Northeast said in a statement. “Experts within the unified command are evaluating the information.”
“A debris field implies a break-up of the submersible … that really sort of indicates what is the worst-case scenario, which is a catastrophic failure and generally that’s an implosion,” marine scientist and rescue expert David Mearns told <a href="https://news.sky.com/story/debris-field-discovered-within-search-area-near-titanic-us-coast-guard-says-12906735">Sky News</a>.
“The only saving grace is that it would have been immediate — literally in milliseconds — and the men wouldn’t have known what was happening,” Mearns added.

A new photo has been released which shows the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/oceangate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Titanic submersible Titan’s</a> final resting spot after the underwater craft imploded, killing all five of its passengers in June 2023.
During the U.S. Coast Guard hearing on Monday into the cause of the implosion of the OceanGate vessel, officials revealed a photo that shows the submersible on the bottom of the ocean floor in the North Atlantic Ocean, following its final dive to see the remains of the Titanic on June 18, 2023, <a href="https://people.com/photo-shows-moment-titan-sub-wreckage-was-found-after-implosion-8713551?hid=4f90b78dc31e627328d98338e1fa49d03b364abc&amp;did=14594199-20240917&amp;utm_source=ppl&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=ppl-news_newsletter&amp;utm_content=091724&amp;lctg=4f90b78dc31e627328d98338e1fa49d03b364abc&amp;lr_input=a08f4ce0dc67f7e22d138c82b9ce538ad294bfaca0b145e2f563962e58e05ef7&amp;utm_term=AM">People magazine</a> reported.
The image shows the underwater craft with its tail cone embedded into the sea floor. The photo was taken by a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), called the Pelagic Research Services 6000, which made the discovery some 12,000 feet below the surface.

Officials said during the hearing that the new photo has led to the “conclusive evidence of a catastrophic loss” of the submersible and the passengers on board.

Titan, in turn, responded, “yes,” and said they “lost system oand [sic] chat settings.”
At 10:15 a.m., the Polar Prince asked again, “status? do you see polar prince on your display?” Titan responded soon after, “yes,” and, “all good here.”
Minutes later, Titan notified the Polar Prince that they were “east south east [of] the nbow [sic],” which officials suspected meant the crew had almost reached their destination, the wreckage of the Titanic.
Titan then asked the Polar Prince if they were also at the bow, and Polar Prince said, “making our way there … your position jumps significantly each ping” — which the ship repeated to the Titan at 10:36.
At 10:47, Titan messaged that they “dropped two [weights],” and contact was then lost almost immediately, at 10:47:32 a.m., according to the Coast Guard. That was at a depth of nearly 3,350 meters and a pressure of 4,900 pounds per square inch, the magazine noted.

The container ship that rammed into a support beam of Francis Scott Key Bridge — which caused the Baltimore bridge to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/baltimore-bridge-collapses-resulting-in-mass-casualty-event-after-its-struck-by-cargo-ship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">collapse</a> in March — suffered a pair of electrical blackouts the day before the collision that resulted in the deaths of six construction workers, according to federal investigators.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the March 26 incident that took place in one of America&#8217;s busiest ports and released a report on Tuesday, saying that the ship, called the Dali, had two electrical malfunctions on March 25. Just hours later, two more electrical blackouts made it impossible for the Dali&#8217;s crew to steer the ship away from the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
&#8220;On March 25, about 10 hours before leaving Baltimore, the Dali experienced a blackout (loss of electrical power to the HV [high voltage] and LV [low voltage] buses) during in-port maintenance,&#8221; the NTSB preliminary <a href="https://www.ntsb.gov/investigations/Documents/DCA24MM031_PreliminaryReport%203.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> said. The loss of power occurred after &#8220;a crewmember mistakenly closed an inline engine exhaust damper.&#8221;
&#8220;Vessel power was restored when crewmembers manually closed HR2 and LR2 [step-down transformers]. Generator no. 3 continued to run for a short period, but insufficient fuel pressure caused its speed to decrease, and its breaker (DGR3) opened; a second blackout (another loss of electrical power to the HV and LV buses) occurred,&#8221; the report added.
In the early hours of March 26, the Dali suffered two more electrical blackouts before it collided with the bridge&#8217;s support beam and caused the middle section of the 1.6-mile-long bridge to crash into the Patapsco River. Video of the incident shows the Dali&#8217;s lights go out moments before it rams into the support beam. Six men who were working on the bridge at the time fell into the water and died.

The Dali remained stuck in the bridge wreckage until earlier this week when authorities used precision explosive charges to remove part of the bridge that was still on top of the container ship, according to <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/baltimore-bridge-span-removed-ship-freed-precision-blast-rcna152065" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a>. Maryland Governor Wes Moore also announced that a channel should finally be open for ships by the end of the month, which would be key to &#8220;fully opening vessel traffic to the port.&#8221;
Days after the collision, the NTSB released a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ntsb-reports-timeline-of-baltimore-bridge-disaster" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> describing the events that led up to the bridge&#8217;s collapse.
“Around 01:26:39 the ship’s pilot made a general VHF [very high frequency] call for tugs in the vicinity of the DALI. MDTA data from around this time indicated the pilot association dispatcher phoned the MDTA duty officer regarding the blackout. Around 1:27:04, the pilot commanded the DALI to drop the port anchor and issued additional steering commands,” the NTSB said. “Around 1:27:25, the pilot issued a radio call over the VHF radio and reported the DALI had lost all power approaching the Key Bridge,” adding that at roughly 1:29 a.m., “the ship’s speed over ground was recorded as just under 7 knots/8 miles per hour. From this moment until approximately 1:29:33, VDR audio recorded sounds consistent with the collision with the Key bridge.”

Train operator <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/norfolk-southern" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Norfolk Southern</a> said Tuesday that it has reached a $600 million deal in principle to <a href="https://nsmakingitright.com/norfolk-southern-reaches-agreement-in-principle-to-settleeast-palestine-derailment-class-action/">settle</a> a class-action lawsuit related to the massive derailment last year in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/east-palestine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">East Palestine</a>, Ohio, which led to the release of toxic chemicals into the air and widespread economic and environmental damage. 
The Atlanta-based company said the settlement, which still needs to be approved by a court, was part of its promise &#8220;to make it right for the people of East Palestine and the surrounding communities.&#8221;
“If approved by the court, the agreement will resolve all class action claims within a 20-mile radius from the derailment and, for those residents who choose to participate, personal injury claims within a 10-mile radius from the derailment,” Norfolk Southern said. 
“The company is going further through this comprehensive settlement — providing additional, significant monetary relief to individuals, including for healthcare, and to help qualifying local businesses continue to rebuild and grow,” the train operator said. “The agreement is designed to provide finality and flexibility for settlement class members. Individuals and businesses will be able to use compensation from the settlement in any manner they see fit to address potential adverse impacts from the derailment.”
Money from the settlement could go toward healthcare, medical monitoring, property restoration and diminution, compensation for any net business loss due, and any other loss due to the disaster.
After the February 2023 derailment, responders busted open several train cars and burned the vinyl chloride chemicals inside, releasing toxic fumes into the area. The chemicals were burned over concerns that the train cars could explode, but National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/controlled-burn-of-toxic-chemicals-that-unleashed-mushroom-cloud-over-east-palestine-wasnt-necessary-federal-official-says" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> last month that the burn was not justified.
Norfolk Southern added that the settlement doesn’t mean admitting any wrongdoing or fault. Former federal district judge Layn Phillips helped to mediate the negotiations.

“With this complaint, the Justice Department and the EPA are acting to pursue justice for the residents of East Palestine and ensure that Norfolk Southern carries the financial burden for the harm it has caused and continues to inflict on the community,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement after the lawsuit was filed.

The Cabinet official made the comments on CBS News after the Transportation Department announced $60 million in <a href="https://www.transportation.gov/briefing-room/biden-harris-administration-announces-60-million-emergency-work-wake-collapse-francis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;Emergency Relief&#8221; funds</a> to help Maryland rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge, which was hit by a cargo ship.
&#8220;We&#8217;re using an authority called the Emergency Relief. This is through our Federal Highway Administration. That&#8217;s how we got those first 60 million out and there will be more where that came from,&#8221; Buttigieg said during an <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/pete-buttigieg-transportation-secretary-face-the-nation-transcript-03-31-2024/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview on &#8220;Face the Nation.&#8221;</a>
&#8220;Now it is possible we may need to turn to Congress to supplement that fund. That has happened in the past, if you remember the 2007 bridge collapse in Minnesota, ultimately about $260 million put together, including funds that were put through Congress on a bipartisan basis,&#8221; Buttigieg said.
He added, &#8220;I hope and expect this too will be a bipartisan priority. It&#8217;s not just the right thing to do for the people of Baltimore. But really important, again, for our whole supply system to make sure that that port and that bridge are operating just the way they were supposed to.&#8221;
Although GOP hardliners have pushed for reining in federal spending, they <a href="https://www.politico.com/video/2024/03/28/hard-right-house-gop-open-to-funding-baltimore-bridge-repairs-1277920" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appeared to be open</a> to federal aid under the right conditions. But <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/4561463-republican-biden-baltimore-bridge-collapse/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">not everyone</a> seemed happy after President Joe Biden <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/biden-says-wants-federal-government-pay-rebuilding-baltimore-bridge-ca-rcna145138" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> he wanted the federal government to cover the &#8220;entire&#8221; cost of the reconstruction project.

The Singaporean-flagged cargo ship that crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/baltimore" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Baltimore</a> this week was involved in another accident several years ago, according to newly unearthed video.
Reuters <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/us/ship-that-hit-baltimore-bridge-also-involved-2016-antwerp-accident-2024-03-26/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that the 1,000-foot Dali hit a port on July 11, 2016, as it tried to leave the North Sea container terminal in Antwerp, Belgium.
The ship reportedly suffered damage that was serious enough that it impacted the ship&#8217;s seaworthiness, causing the ship to remain docked for a long time while it underwent repairs.

The ship has been inspected more than two dozen times and has recorded two &#8220;deficiencies,&#8221; according to records obtained by CNN.
&#8220;In June of 2023, in San Antonio, Chile, the Chilean authorities gave the DALI a &#8216;deficiency&#8217; for &#8216;propulsion and auxiliary machinery — gauges, thermometers, etc,'&#8221; the report said, according to Equasis records.
The National Transportation Safety Board gave <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ntsb-reports-timeline-of-baltimore-bridge-disaster" target="_blank" rel="noopener">details</a> about this week&#8217;s accident in a newly released timeline.
The ship departed Seagirt Marine Terminal at approximately 12:39  a.m. By 1:07 a.m., it had entered the Fort McHenry Channel. By 1:24 a.m., the ship was underway on a true heading of approximately 141 degrees in the Fort McHenry Channel at an indicated speed over ground of approximately 8 knots/9 miles per hour.
Roughly one minute later, “numerous aural alarms were recorded on the ship’s bridge audio,” the NTSB reported, adding, “Around the same time, VDR ship system data ceased recording, however, the VDR audio continued to be recorded using the VDR’s redundant power source. Around 01:26:02, the VDR resumed recording ship system data. During this time, there were steering commands and rudder orders on the VDR audio.”
“Around 01:26:39 the ship’s pilot made a general VHF radio call for tugs in the vicinity of the DALI. MDTA data from around this time indicated the pilot association dispatcher phoned the MDTA duty officer regarding the blackout. Around 1:27:04, the pilot commanded the DALI to drop the port anchor and issued additional steering commands,” the NTSB continued. “Around 1:27:25, the pilot issued a radio call over the VHF radio and reported the DALI had lost all power approaching the Key Bridge,” the NTSB stated, adding that at roughly 1:29 a.m., “the ship’s speed over ground was recorded as just under 7 knots/8 miles per hour. From this moment until approximately 1:29:33, VDR audio recorded sounds consistent with the collision with the Key bridge.”

Six construction workers who were filling potholes on the Francis Scott Key Bridge in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/baltimore" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Baltimore</a> when a container ship rammed into one of its supports are presumed dead.
Jeffrey Pritzker, executive vice president of Brawner Builders, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/maryland-bridge-collapse-francis-scott-key-bridge-boat-baltimore-rcna145047" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> NBC News that the six individuals, who were not named, are presumed to have died from the accident.
The crew was working in the middle of the bridge when the ship struck, causing the bridge to collapse. The bodies of the six workers have not been recovered.
“This was so completely unforeseen,” Pritzker <a href="https://apnews.com/article/baltimore-bridge-collapse-53169b379820032f832de4016c655d1b" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “We don’t know what else to say. We take such great pride in safety, and we have cones and signs and lights and barriers and flaggers.”
Jesus Campos, who has worked on the bridge for the company, said that he knew some of the members of the crew. He said that they were on a break sitting in their trucks when the ship hit.
“I know that a month ago, I was there, and I know what it feels like when the trailers pass,” Campos said. “Imagine knowing that is falling. It is so hard. One would not know what to do.”
Investigators have said that all initial signs point to the crash as an accident and that there is not any proof that terrorism was involved.

President Joe Biden promised on Tuesday that the federal government would pay the entire cost to rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore after the structure collapsed early Tuesday morning when a container ship struck one of its support beams.
Biden spoke during a press conference at the White House following the collapse of the 1.6-mile-long bridge and said he would push for Congress to approve the funding to rebuild the bridge, but warned that it will &#8220;take some time&#8221; before traffic once again flows as normal. Maryland Transportation Secretary Paul Wiedefeld said Tuesday morning that eight people were on the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore when it collapsed. He added that two of the eight people have been accounted for as emergency responders, including dive teams, continue their search and rescue operation for at least six others. State and federal authorities have maintained that all evidence in the bridge collapse “points to an accident.”
As emergency responders and crews continue to work around the bridge wreckage, all vessel traffic arriving in or leaving the Port of Baltimore has been <a href="https://www.baltimoresun.com/2024/03/26/port-of-baltimore-suspends-vessel-traffic-after-key-bridge-collapses/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suspended</a>.
Construction on the Francis Scott Key Bridge began in 1972 and was completed five years later. 8 People Were On Baltimore Bridge At Time Of Collapse; Ship Issued A Mayday Before Collision: Authorities

The 1.6-mile-long Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed early Tuesday morning after it was struck by a container ship, resulting in what authorities have described as &#8220;a mass casualty incident.&#8221;
Emergency responders, including dive teams, are searching for at least seven people believed to be in the frigid water, but that number could likely change, the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/baltimore-bridge-collapse-53169b379820032f832de4016c655d1b" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Two people were rescued from the water; one person was unharmed while the second person was rushed to the hospital in serious condition, Baltimore Fire Chief James Wallace said.
“We are still very much in an active search and rescue posture at this point, and we will continue to be for some time,” Wallace <a href="https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/baltimore-bridge-collapse-03-26-24-intl-hnk/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
In a press conference Tuesday morning, Maryland Transportation Secretary Paul Wiedefeld confirmed that contractors were working on the bridge at the time of the collapse, but did not say how many workers were believed to be on the bridge when it was struck by the container ship.

The ship that struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge is chartered by the Danish shipping company Maersk, the company told <a href="https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/baltimore-bridge-collapse-03-26-24-intl-hnk/h_adc8016bd840aab5970dd0adb17c056b" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN</a>. The ship was carrying Maersk customers&#8217; cargo, according to the company. The vessel, which is called Dali, was on its way to Sri Lanka.
&#8220;We are horrified by what has happened in Baltimore, and our thoughts are with all of those affected,&#8221; Maersk said in a statement.
Baltimore Police Chief Richard Worley added, &#8220;There is absolutely no indication that there&#8217;s any terrorism, that this was done on purpose.”
