Hollywood is great at keeping secrets. 
Ellen DeGeneres built a career on a relentlessly nice persona that belied her behind-the-scenes cruelty. Harvey Weinstein’s Midas touch distracted us from his predatory encounters with starlets. And Sean “Diddy” Combs turned out to be more than a music mogul — he allegedly presided over a garish, sex-obsessed ring.
The new Hollywood Blacklist, by comparison, is out in the open. Conservative artists, beware. Sharing your point of view can cost you. Dearly.
Yet very few industry types will admit or decry it. And we’re seeing even more evidence of it.

Cheryl Hines has been working nonstop for decades, even if we all know her best as Larry’s exasperated wife (then ex-wife) on HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
But a funny thing happened to Hines on the way to her husband Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.&#8217;s endorsement of Donald Trump.
The roles dried up.
The in-demand comic actress hasn’t had a new gig since “Curb” wrapped two years ago. Is she turning work down? Or did her phone stop ringing? What could have changed?
Hines has been polite on the subject in a barrage of interviews, suggesting her Hollywood friendships have strained under that political weight. She also isn’t a part of Larry David’s upcoming HBO comedy series, an untitled satire co-produced by the Obamas.
The Daily Mail added that the Obamas <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-15000917/Cheryl-Hines-Larry-David-new-HBO-barack-michelle-obama.html">won’t allow Hines</a> to be part of the show.
She even got <a href="https://x.com/bradleywhitford/status/1827444691316732393?lang=en">called out</a> by Emmy winner Bradley Whitford on social media for her political ties.

She also may have lost a long-term friendship with former podcast partner Tig Notaro. The two <a href="https://people.com/tig-notaro-reflects-on-strange-friendship-fallout-from-cheryl-hines-over-rfk-jr-trump-ties-11923515">hosted “Tig and Cheryl: True Story”</a> for three years before ending the show in May of 2023. Notaro helped end the show due to Hines’ husband’s political aspirations, though it’s unclear why that element had to be a show stopper.

Notaro suggests politics didn’t end their friendship, although it clearly forced her to quit the podcast.
<blockquote>I realized one day that she doesn’t ever reach out to me anymore. She responds to me, but she doesn’t reach out to me. I had to kind of shake myself out of denial that, ‘Oh, she’s gone,’ and, ‘OK, I need to let this go. I need to let it go.’</blockquote>
Others in Hollywood likely did just that to Hines. The Hollywood Reporter even suggested that would <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/politics-news/cheryl-hines-rfk-jr-drop-presidential-race-trump-1235981992/">happen due to her political ties</a>. The actress has been on the Left for some time, for what it’s worth, but she’s being judged based on her husband’s views.
Dennis Quaid has defied the new Hollywood Blacklist. For now.
The 71-year-old screen legend stays busy, including a supporting turn in the new Netflix action romp “War Machine.” He even starred as the title character in 2024’s “Reagan” and admitted to being a President Donald Trump supporter during the film’s publicity push.

Still, the work keeps on coming. That’s more common with established, Right-leaning actors like Tim Allen, Kelsey Grammer, and Jon Voight. But Quaid’s political leanings, which he describes as more independent than doctrinaire conservative, still found him singled out by a peer.
A peer who recently joined him on screen.
Nick Offerman and Quaid worked together on last year’s “Sovereign,” the story of an anti-government zealot (Offerman) who pushes his conspiracy theories too far.
Offerman didn’t share a negative word about his time on the set with Quaid on the “Lovett or Leave It” podcast with former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett. Instead, he insulted the actor <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg2smuJfxN8&amp;t=1s">for thinking the “wrong” way</a>.
“Right after we finished the movie, he suddenly came out with a gospel country record and went on Tucker Carlson and f***ing [Sean] Hannity to play his Trump gospel songs,” Offerman said. 
“What? He’s a hero of my life. I’ve looked up to him. He’s a great actor.”

Later, the “Parks &amp; Recreation” alum doubled down on both Dennis and brother Randy Quaid. The latter worked in Hollywood for years, but a <a href="https://abcnews.com/Entertainment/randy-quaid-wife-evi-hollywood-refugees-exclusive-interview/story?id=12020421">series of bizarre incidents</a> coaxed his exit from the industry.
“[Randy Quaid] was very crazy, and he went away, but Dennis kept it under wraps until last year,” he continued. “But he’s now gone.”
The Blacklist-style bigotry isn’t relegated to the film industry. Hip hop superstar Nicki Minaj didn’t don a red MAGA hat during President Trump’s first term, but in recent months, she noticed how the Republican leader <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-deep-sense-of-gratitude-nicki-minaj-praises-trump-for-action-on-persecuted-christians">supported Christians being persecuted in Nigeria</a>.

That resonated with her, and she eventually threw her celebrity cache behind the unorthodox leader. Within weeks, she became the comic target of Grammy host Trevor Noah at the gala’s annual soiree.

He then broke out his Trump impression as the Tony crowd chortled.
<blockquote>Actually Nicki, I have the biggest ass! Everybody’s saying it. I know they say it’s you, but it’s me. WAP, WAP, WAP. Look at it, baby.</blockquote>
Her crime? Being an independent thinker, and no progressive star in Hollywood or the music industry had her back.
And actress Katherine Heigl could be next. The once-in-demand star of “Grey’s Anatomy” appeared in public earlier this month to support the Big Dog Ranch Rescue gala at Mar-A-Lago, Trump’s private retreat.

She even brought her mom to the red carpet gala.
Heigl had to make a public statement after appearing at the apolitical event, defending her passion for worthy causes by saying, <a href="https://pagesix.com/2026/03/11/celebrity-news/katherine-heigl-hits-back-at-fans-politicizing-her-attendance-at-mar-a-lago-rescue-event/">“animals don’t vote.”</a> Could that one appearance impact her chances at a Hollywood comeback?
Ask Offerman.
And this is the stuff we see in public, not the behind-the-scenes cancellations and attacks. It’s likely far worse there.
The unofficial conservative blacklist may have weakened in recent months, with high-profile stars like Zachary Levi and Sylvester Stallone supporting Trump without overt blowback.
In some ways the bigotry against Right-leaning artists is as strong as ever.

Actor Dennis Quaid said his former party has left him behind and that Hollywood has swayed far to the Left, along with the rest of the Democrats.
The actor made the remarks during an appearance last week on “The Greg Laurie Show” podcast. 
“Things have gone so extremely, so far left right now. I saw a podcast — it was Bill Maher and Dana Carvey, and I’m forgetting the other guy’s name — but anyway, I think it was Dana Carvey [who] said, ‘I’ve told my friends in Hollywood I’m a Clinton Democrat, and some of them are calling me a Nazi now,’” Laurie suggested.
“You can’t do that,” Quaid replied, adding that these days, being a Clinton-era Democrat is the “same thing as being a neo-con, on the right side or whatever. What used to be, you can’t be anymore.”
The “Reagan” actor doesn’t consider himself a Republican but instead said, “I’m a common-sense independent,” who also leans “more conservative in my head.”
“I’m just for common sense, is really what I am,” Quaid added.

Laurie said he believed Trump was “very personable, incredibly funny, a good listener, and [a] surprisingly approachable person.”
Quaid agreed that the president is “surprisingly approachable and very funny. And really genuine. He wouldn’t be president if he wasn’t genuine. The people who voted for him, they know that he has their best interests at heart, that he is a genuine person.”
“I’ve never seen anybody with that kind of energy,” the actor went on. “People say that about me, but he’s really got a lot of energy.”
“We’re going through a spiritual revolution,” Quaid said later in the interview. “I’m not talking Republican and Democrat … but I am talking about those two coming together.”
Quaid made headlines in 2024 after <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dennis-quaids-reagan-loved-by-audiences-hated-by-critics">starring</a> in the biopic “Reagan” about the former Republican president, which was yet another film that had a vast disparity between audience score and critical reviews.
When urging fans to see “Reagan,” the actor said, “If you were born before 1985, you’ll be able to remember how great this country was. And if you were born after 1985, you can see how great this country still can be.”
“He was also my favorite president,” Quaid said just after the movie premiered.

A screenwriter for the biopic “Reagan” starring Dennis Quaid said the film was ineligible to win Best Picture, the most prestigious prize at the Academy Awards, because it failed to meet the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ DEI requirements.
&#8220;I think the situation speaks for itself. There’s not really anger and indignation among those of us who made this film, we didn’t seriously expect to be nominated for anything by Hollywood in this cultural climate— it’s just sadness, really, what has become of the magnificent Dream Factory that once was Hollywood,&#8221; writer Howard Klausner <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/reagan-screenwriter-claims-oscars-dei-requirements-excluded-film-best-picture-consideration">told</a> Fox News Digital via email.
“Once upon a time it spoke to the heart[s] and dreams of pretty much everybody, and the leaders and luminaries of the 20th century industry intuitively seemed to ‘get’ the middle of the country as well as the cultural elite,&#8221; he continued.
&#8220;We were among 116 films that were eliminated for consideration this year,&#8221; Klausner said. &#8220;Obviously, there needs to be a conversation about this policy.&#8221;
The Academy stipulates that any Best Picture nominee must meet one out of four DEI focused concepts, which include having a main character come from an underrepresented group or have at least 30% of all actors in minor roles come from at least two underrepresented groups.
Another option is to have the main storyline centered on an underrepresented group. Alternatively, the film must utilize at least two creative leadership positions, such as casting director, cinematographer, costume designer, makeup artist, or others, come from underrepresented groups such as women, LGBTQ, or racial and ethnic groups.
A Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-daily-wire-poll-most-americans-oppose-oscars-diversity-requirements">poll</a> conducted in 2021 after the DEI requirements for Best Picture at the Oscars were announced found that most Americans opposed them.
“Reagan” most likely would have been snubbed from the Oscars even if it had met the requirements as it painted the former Republican president in a favorable light and was mostly shunned by mainstream critics. The film currently has an 18% <a href="https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/reagan_2024">critic’s score</a> on Rotten Tomatoes and a 98% audience rating.
The year’s most successful documentary by a landslide, the Daily Wire+ production “Am I Racist?,” was also snubbed by The Academy even though it did meet all the requirements for the category. It didn’t even make the list of top 15 documentaries despite having massive cultural influence and making over $12 million at the box office.
The film “Anora,” the big winner at Sunday night’s Oscars ceremony, won Best Picture in addition to four others, including Best Actress for the film’s star Mikey Madison. The movie tells the story of a prostitute who marries the son of a Russian oligarch.

In September, “Shazam!” star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/zachary-levi">Zachary Levi</a> became one of the rare voices in Hollywood to endorse Trump, saying he believed the former president would “take back this country” and “make it great again,” as The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/actor-zachary-levi-endorses-trump-we-are-going-to-take-back-this-country">reported</a>.
Levi, who first supported Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for president, ended up throwing all his support behind Trump when RFK dropped out of the race and backed the former president.

Speaking on “The Megyn Kelly Show,” the actor <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P3jUcy3pjI&amp;t=15s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> while he hadn’t voted for Trump in the last two elections, he did think the then-former president did a “good job” — despite what Trump’s opponents said.
“For four years, the world didn’t blow up,” Levi said. “He didn’t turn into the Nazi fascist that everybody [said] he was going to be the first time around. We entered no more wars. Our economy was better. Our border was better.”
“Even if I don’t like all of his Trumpiness,” Levi said, that doesn’t change the fact that Vice President Kamala Harris “is not qualified in any way, shape, or form to be the Commander-in-Chief, the leader of the free world. Absolutely not.”

“<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/dennis-quaid">Reagan</a>” star Dennis Quaid definitely made headlines when he appeared alongside President-elect Trump on the campaign trail in October in California, ahead of the election.

The 70-year-old actor took the stage and told the massive crowd of Trump supporters at Coachella he was voting for the former president, after previously telling <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPxS-l0F5sg&amp;t=2068s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Piers Morgan</a> that he “was ready not to vote for Trump … but I saw a weaponization of our justice system.”
“You know, I’m an actor and I just had this movie come out that’s, it was a famous last name: Reagan. My favorite president of the 20th century,” Quaid said at the rally, per <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/style/story/dennis-quaid-donald-trump-rally-coachella?srsltid=AfmBOorcKEX6Zpz6iXF6INymny8Rwsshphz6lTf3YOzuYonGW6SO5rg_" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vanity Fair</a>.
“We were a nation in decline,” he added. “That’s what they told us. Ronald Reagan came along and said, no, we’re not a nation in decline. We’re going there. And we followed him. The same with Trump. With President Trump. My favorite president of the 21st century.”

“Everybody has their right to their opinion, and they have freedom of speech, so here we are,” Matteo said. “But, again, I’m a liberal. I am a liberal who does not understand how the Left has become so rebellious, with not one undertone of peace, love, harmony, and compassion.”
“You’re supposed to be the party of inclusivity, of love, of peace,” she added. “And all of a sudden, these are the rioters. These are the mean-spirited folks out there. And I don’t understand that.”

In one <a href="https://x.com/JustineBateman" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post after another</a> on X, the 58-year-old actress broke down the videos of Harris supporters melting down after Trump’s stunning victory, having some fun with them as she pointed out things like lighting and camera angles, even noting that using one’s car for their freakout video location has been “overused.”

Later in an interview with Fox News in November, the 58-year-old actress said during her appearance on “<a href="https://x.com/JesseBWatters/status/1857246154766876883">Jesse Watters Primetime</a>” that the election marked the end of the woke era, something she was definitely celebrating.
“The political correctness, the woke era is over because you need mob mentality momentum in order to keep that going,” Bateman told the host. “In order to threaten people if they are not thinking and talking the way you do.”
“To threaten their lives, threaten their careers, threaten their place in society,” she added. “You need that momentum in order to do that, and when Trump won [the] presidency again, that cut that momentum off. So, this whole woke era is over.”
Later, she talked about the “spiritual shift” she’s felt in the culture, saying there’s been a “stagnation” and that things “haven’t been moving forward” for the last four years or more.
“It started a little bit when Elon Musk bought Twitter and turned it into X,” Bateman said. “And it really changed when Donald Trump won his presidency. I can feel it. For the last four years … there’s been kind of a pressing down, limiting what people can say, and what happens, too, is you limit what can even occur in society.”

Currently, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies">film</a> has an 18% critic score and a 98% audience <a href="https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/reagan_2024">rating</a> on the popular review site, Rotten Tomatoes. Thanks to so many good marks, “Reagan” has also been marked as “Verified Hot” on the new Popcornmeter, meaning it earned more than 500 four-star ratings from verified ticket purchasers.

When the interviewer <a href="https://x.com/FoxNewsSunday/status/1835324175948427567">asked</a> if Quaid got “a kick out of” the fact that there was such a discrepancy between audience and critic scores, he replied with a laugh, “We had the largest gap in cinema history between critics and audiences.”
As for those critics, he said they “not only panned it, but basically attacked it.” 
“So I guess we must be doing something right, is the way I feel,” Quaid added. 
When urging fans to see “Reagan,” the actor said, “If you were born before 1985, you’ll be able to remember how great this country was. And if you were born after 1985, you can see how great this country still can be.”
Earlier in the conversation, the celeb discussed how he took the role very seriously and initially hesitated to accept the opportunity. “I just remember a bolt of fear going up my spine when I was offered the role,” he said. “Because everybody in the world, they’re gonna know who [Reagan] is and probably have an opinion about him.”

“He was also my favorite president,” Quaid added. After visiting the Reagan Ranch in Santa Barbara, the actor said he felt better about his ability to take on the part. “I could really feel him there,” he recalled of the late president, who died in 2004.
“That’s when I knew I had a way in, to portray his humanity… him as a person behind the public persona,” he said. 
“Reagan” is based on the 2006 book “The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism” by Paul Kengor. The film, directed by Sean McNamara, stars Quaid as the former president and Penelope Ann Miller as his wife, Nancy. Academy Award winner Jon Voight has a supporting role.

Quaid told Shapiro that he was initially hesitant to take on the role of President Ronald Reagan, citing the former president&#8217;s iconic status and the challenge of portraying him authentically.

The actor revealed that visiting Reagan&#8217;s ranch was a turning point in his decision to accept the role, and emphasized the importance of capturing Reagan&#8217;s essence beyond mere impersonation. 
&#8220;Acting is about what makes people tick, you know, and you have the public persona, but you have to be able to get behind that as an actor in order to make someone come alive and not just make an impression,&#8221; he stated.
Regarding his approach to acting, Quaid emphasized the importance of research and character development. For his portrayal of Reagan, he said he had &#8220;a couple of years really before we even started filming&#8221; to prepare, allowing him to capture the nuances of Reagan&#8217;s speech and mannerisms across different periods of his life.
“One of the things that&#8217;s fascinating when you read biographies of Reagan is that pretty much everybody who knew him, maybe except for Nancy, talks about him having this sort of inner reserve, how he would you know, he would be in the room with you and obviously he would interact with you, but there was a part of him that he sort of kept behind a wall,” Shapiro said. “What do you think that was?”

Reflecting on the current state of Hollywood, Quaid observed, &#8220;I think that Hollywood has sort of lost its relevancy with an audience to a certain extent.&#8221; Quaid told Shapiro that he sees potential in emerging film production centers outside of Los Angeles, such as Atlanta and Texas, as new hubs for creativity and talent.
Quaid expressed hope that the Reagan biopic would not only entertain but also educate younger audiences about an important period in American history. &#8220;For those who are like your age, you know, you get a glimpse into what this country used to be like. And for those like my age, you&#8217;re reminded what this country was and what it still can be,&#8221; he said.
The actor concluded by sharing his desire to see more diverse stories told in Hollywood, mentioning a potential project about Crazy Horse and the Lakota Sioux as an example of an untold narrative he&#8217;d like to bring to the screen.

The Aug. 30 release, featuring Dennis Quaid as the iconic GOP leader, wasn’t made in Liberal Hollywood. Quaid’s affection for the Gipper is another clue. He’s been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/tbd-dennis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sharing</a> his warm feelings for the 40th president across media outlets for some time now.

The chances of “Reagan” being a two-hour hit piece hover between slim and none, with Vegas money on the latter.
That hasn’t always been the case when it comes to capturing Reagan on screens large and small. Screenwriters have found Reagan irresistible, but they haven’t always hewed to the truth along the way.
Hollywood’s far-Left biases kept getting in the way.
Project after project has attempted to belittle the GOP leader, but those efforts may have had little effect on the public’s appreciation for the two-term president.

The best example is “The Reagans.” The CBS miniseries, starring James Brolin as the president and Judy Davis as Nancy Reagan, inspired a scandal so large it changed the course of its broadcast plans.
The 2003 project featured several dubious scenes that made Reagan admirers howl. One draft featured Reagan <a href="https://nypost.com/2003/11/03/cbs-reagans-may-be-sold-to-showtime/">dismissing AIDS sufferers with this line</a>, “They that live in sin shall die in sin.” The quip didn’t make the final cut, but word of its inclusion drowned the project in controversy.
It didn’t help that the real Reagan was alive but deep in the throes of Alzheimer’s disease and couldn’t defend himself.

The miniseries caused internal chaos at CBS leading to the network punting the project behind a cable paywall … AKA Showtime.
The FX series “Fargo” used an unlikely actor to bring Reagan to life. “Evil Dead” alum Bruce Campbell briefly embodied the president in season two, set in 1979.

A critical scene finds Campbell’s Reagan chatting up a stranger in a men’s bathroom. There’s nothing inappropriate in the exchange, unless you’re a fan of character attacks.
The future president coldly compares his work shooting World War II movies with the stranger’s actual military service.
“Die Hard” favorite Alan Rickman got a crack at playing Reagan in “Lee Daniel’s The Butler” (2013).
Once again, a Hollywood production did its best to mischaracterize the beloved president. The film loosely followed the true-life story of White House butler Eugene Allen, a black employee played by Forest Whitaker.
Scenes showed Allen quitting the job over Reagan’s unwillingness to support South African sanctions and other indignities.
Those closest to Reagan balked at the characterization, noting the leader’s strong stands against racism over the years. Plus, the real butler was reportedly fond of Reagan, undercutting what’s shown on screen.
Adding insult to injury? Casting notorious Hollywood liberal Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan.

Fred Ward, known best for his role in 1990’s “Tremors,” portrayed Reagan in a French film called “Farewell.” The film recalled tense moments between the U.S. and Soviet Union in the 1980s, including an incident <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/film/2011/apr/28/farewell-review" target="_blank" rel="noopener">President Reagan referred to</a> as, &#8220;one of the most important espionage cases of the 20th century.&#8221;
Actor Jay Koch briefly played Reagan in not one but three films of various tones – 1995’s “Panther,” 1993’s “Hot Shots! Part Deux” and “Back to the Future Part II” (1989). The professional Reagan impersonator eventually met his real-life inspiration and the cameos in question lacked the partisan rage from other Hollywood projects.
The very worst example of Hollywood maligning Reagan never made it to the screen, but the fact that it came up at all speaks volumes of Hollywood’s hatred of all things Reagan.
Reports said that Will Ferrell was briefly attached to produce and star in a “comedy” highlighting the president’s dementia-addled days in the White House. The concept proved so toxic that Reagan’s daughter Patti Davis and son Michael Reagan publicly condemned the project. They weren’t alone. Ferrell’s representative later suggested he never officially joined the project, written by <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5294442/?ref_=nm_ov_bio_lk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mike Rosolio</a>.
We’ll never see a film or TV project tied to President Joe Biden’s obvious mental decline in the Oval Office, comedic or otherwise.
The Reagan/Alzheimer’s script circulated in Hollywood for a while and even attracted a star-laden script reading featuring Nathan Fillion, John Cho and James Brolin, essentially reprising his previous time playing Reagan.
Said script was part of “The Black List,” the insider network of beloved but unproduced screenplays.
Adam McKay, a frequent Ferrell contributor and hardcore Leftist, <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/may/12/adam-mckay-ronald-reagan-alzheimers-comedy-will-ferrell" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defended the project</a>.
<blockquote> I kept saying when that story snowballed, ‘Is there anyone who really thinks Will Ferrell would make a comedy about a horrible disease like Alzheimer’s?’ In a million years no one would do that!</blockquote>
A script review conducted by The Hollywood Reporter <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/will-ferrells-reagan-script-actual-888804/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suggested the film was as offensive</a> as originally advertised.
But it does revolve around the conceit that the 40th president had no knowledge of where he was or what he was doing throughout his entire second term. 
Insiders say the real Reagan did not display signs of his eventual Alzheimer’s diagnosis in his final years in the White House. Others disagreed, including son Ron Reagan. A New York Times medical writer Larry Altman investigated the topic extensively and disagreed with the young Reagan’s assessment.
The film site IMDB.com lists the screenplay as “in development,” but there have been no sizable updates on the project in the press.
We don’t know what Quaid’s “Reagan” will share until it opens nationwide. It’s clear the project will be a starkly different Reagan than ones we’ve seen before from La La Land.

Actor Dennis Quaid said that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/facebook" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Facebook</a> has been &#8220;throttling advertising&#8221; for his upcoming film, &#8220;Reagan,&#8221; due out in theaters in late August.
In a letter sent to Newsweek, Quaid said, &#8220;Facebook is once again censoring the free flow of ideas, deciding what&#8217;s best for us to see and hear; only this time it&#8217;s throttling advertising and promotion for my movie about Ronald Reagan.&#8221;
&#8220;Like the old Soviet Union—are we turning into a country of tech oligarchs who control the platform of groupthink to silence the individual or &#8216;other&#8217; groups?&#8221; he continued, noting that no one at Facebook had even seen the movie yet.
In addition to Quaid&#8217;s complaints on the issue, director of digital marketing Eric McClellan sent a letter directly to Mark Zuckerberg. In the letter, he cited a particularly &#8220;egregious&#8221; example of Facebook&#8217;s attempt to quell their advertising.
The ad in question, McClellan wrote, was nothing more than a photo of Quaid with the movie&#8217;s title, &#8220;Reagan,&#8221; and a quote from the late President Ronald Reagan: &#8220;Don&#8217;t let anyone tell you that America&#8217;s best days are behind her—that the American spirit has been vanquished. We&#8217;ve seen it triumph too often in our lives not to believe it now.&#8221;
According to Newsweek, Facebook did allow them to publish the post – but refused to allow them to pay to &#8220;boost&#8221; it in order to achieve a greater reach. The reason given for the denial, McClellan said, was as follows: [The ad] &#8220;mentions politicians or is about sensitive issues that could influence public opinion, how people vote and may impact the outcome of an election or pending legislation.&#8221;

&#8220;Zuckerberg is ultimately responsible for all of this because his company says it might influence the presidential election, but the last time Ronald Reagan&#8217;s name was on the ballot was 40 years ago,&#8221; Quaid added. &#8220;My challenge to Facebook is to ask if any of these tactics were used against other recent presidential biopics like &#8216;Lincoln,&#8217; &#8216;LBJ,&#8217; or &#8216;Southside with You,&#8217; a film about President Barack Obama, which was also released during an election year.&#8221;
&#8220;Reagan&#8221; is scheduled for release in theaters on August 30.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-new-trailer-for-reagan-movie-starring-dennis-quaid-just-released">Dennis Quaid</a> opened up about his past use of cocaine and said the drug culture in Hollywood changed when John Belushi died from an overdose in 1982.
During his appearance on “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPxS-l0F5sg&amp;feature=youtu.be" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Piers Morgan Uncensored</a>&#8221; to talk about his upcoming movie &#8220;Reagan&#8221; &#8212; about the life of late President Ronald Reagan &#8212; the 70-year-old actor said when he was doing movies early on in his career, he was “doing blow” and was “operating on 2-3 hours of sleep.”
“I’d like to say it didn’t affect my performances, but it did, how could it not,” Quaid said. “You know, when you are not operating at 100 percent capacity.”
When pressed by the host if he had friends who died of drugs, “The Rookie” star said yes, and then mentioned the late-star Belushi.
“You know it all started [when] John Belushi died,” Quaid said. “Cocaine before that was, it was in People magazine, doctors saying that it wasn’t addictive. It was a party thing or whatever. Everything was fine and dandy until … in fact, it [cocaine] was in the budget of movies.”

“You know all that funny money set aside,” he added. “You would go to meetings and executives would have it there on their desk. It was just a thing. &#8230; And then when John Belushi died, that changed everything. Or at least that’s when it started to change.”
Quaid said he doesn’t “miss it a bit&#8221; after he “got sober for it,&#8221; which took four years getting over. He said it was really “a hole” that he needed to fill, and that’s when he went “back to being a seeker again.&#8221;

Earlier in the interview, the two talked about how Quaid lost his way for years with religion after being raised Baptist.
“I’ve always been a seeker,” Quaid said, as he talked about after high school starting to study other religions around the world. “Finally, after going through the God of cocaine and that era of my life, came back to the red words of Jesus, rereading the Bible, and that brought me back.&#8221;
“I read the Bible and then I read all the other books … but reading the Bible again, the red words of Jesus again and the things that Jesus said, and that lead me to a personal relationship with God,” he added. “And that’s really in the end what it&#8217;s all about.”

Actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/dennis-quaid" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dennis Quaid</a> said during a recent interview that he plans to vote for former President Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election.
The A-list celebrity made the remarks during an interview with Piers Morgan on British television when asked by Morgan what he thought of Trump.
&#8220;I think I’m gonna vote for him in the next election,&#8221; the actor said. &#8220;It just makes sense. I was ready not to vote for Trump, until what I saw is, more than politics, I see a weaponization of our justice system and a challenge to our Constitution.&#8221;
&#8220;Trump is the most investigated person, probably in the history of the world, and they haven’t been able to really get him on anything,&#8221; he added.
He said that he has not always liked everything that Trump has said, &#8220;but as president … the only thing I liked about Trump was everything he did.&#8221;
&#8220;What he did with Korea, with Rocket Baby, the way he defeated ISIS in three weeks,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;You know, people don&#8217;t even remember, it happened so fast. How he stood up for us overseas. The way he responded to China. He stands up to people and that&#8217;s what makes him a leader. Rather than, what I kind of compare it to, what was going on in Jimmy Carter&#8217;s administration, where we&#8217;re trying to be everybody&#8217;s friend and pal.&#8221;
&#8220;And there&#8217;s some evil people and bad actors in this world and so, you know, people might call [Trump] an a**hole but he&#8217;s my a**hole,&#8221; Quaid said. &#8220;I’ll tell you one true thing about him is that I really feel that he is working for the American people. That&#8217;s what he&#8217;s all about, and I do believe that to be true and sincere.&#8221;

When asked about Biden, Quaid said that he doesn&#8217;t believe that Biden is &#8220;at the helm, I don’t feel he’s there.&#8221;
&#8220;I feel that he says things to get votes, not that he truly believes them,&#8221; he added. &#8220;And now I’m really gonna get some blowback, but that’s the way I feel.&#8221;

A first look at the new biopic “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies">Reagan</a>” just dropped with the release of the film’s official trailer.
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Dennis Quaid</a> stars in the movie, which follows the life of President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ronald-reagan">Ronald Reagan</a> from his childhood to his time as a Hollywood actor to the presidency. The story is told from the perspective of a fictional ex-KGB agent, Viktor Novikov, played by Jon Voight.

Other stars in the film include Penelope Ann Miller as Nancy Reagan, Mena Suvari as Reagan’s first wife Jane Wyman, Lesley-Anne Down as Margaret Thatcher, David Henrie as young adult Reagan, and Kevin Dillon as Jack Warner, plus an ensemble of others. Sean McNamara, best known for his work on “Soul Surfer,” serves as director.
“Reagan” is the first film being launched by the new studio ShowBiz Direct. The screenplay is based on Paul Kengor’s 2006 book, “The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism.” Kengor is a political science professor at Grove City College, per <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/first-reagan-trailer-drops-with-dennis-quaid-starring-as-the-40th-president/">National Review</a>. Production on the film began four years ago.
Quaid <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/tbd-dennis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spoke with</a> Dr. Jordan B. Peterson earlier this week about preparing for the role. He said instead of doing an impersonation of the former president, he attempted to go deeper into character and think about who he really was. “I like to tell their story from their point of view,” Quaid said of character roles. “Not from the outside and what we thought of them.”
“The question is what if I – me – were this person in this situation?” the actor continued.

Quaid also discussed being afraid to take on the part because of Reagan’s notoriety. “He’s one of the most recognizable figures in the world,” Quaid said. “I wanted to make sure it was done right.” 
The movie star also discussed touring Reagan’s former home in Santa Barbara, saying he was impressed with how unpretentious it was. “There was a humbleness to it,” he told Peterson. “He was not a rich man… he was really who he said he was.”
“Reagan” is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on August 30.
