A new childhood vaccination schedule under Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. could look a lot more like Denmark&#8217;s schedule — meaning more parental control, fewer overall shots, and nixing very early doses.
Kennedy has made it clear that he wants to overhaul how vaccines are recommended — and mandated — in the United States. So far, the secretary has handpicked a new Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) panel and green-lighted changes to the Hep B and COVID vaccines.
But more changes are coming. New reports indicate that HHS wants to recommend fewer vaccines and instead encourage parents to speak to their doctors about certain shots. Denmark&#8217;s vaccine schedule is reportedly the model HHS wants to align with more closely.
In Denmark, children receive far fewer vaccines than children in the U.S. For example, the Scandinavian nation does not recommend vaccinating children against the flu, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), hepatitis A and B, or chickenpox, among other viruses, as <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/12/19/childhood-vaccine-schedule-denmark-revisions">highlighted</a> by The Washington Post. Compared to the U.S., Denmark recommends eight fewer vaccines against infectious diseases.
Also, in Denmark, children are recommended to get vaccinations later than in the U.S. Denmark waits until a baby is 3 months old before vaccinations, recommending zero at birth. A fully vaccinated 12-month-old child in Denmark will have received 18 vaccine doses for six diseases, <a href="https://cyvaccine.com/article/does-demnark-practice-same-vaccination-schedule-as-the-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Cyvaccine, while a 12-month-old in the U.S. will have received 43 vaccine doses for 16 diseases.
Denmark also offers parents more control over their child&#8217;s vaccinations. Recommendations are voluntary in the Scandinavian country, and not mandated for school entry, unlike in the U.S. Kennedy reportedly wants to mirror Denmark in this respect, too.
Former U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb said such a change would put liability back on vaccine manufacturers, which is something HHS, under Kennedy, seems inclined to do.

Rumors of the shifts peaked after President Donald Trump signed a presidential memorandum earlier this month directing HHS to &#8220;FAST TRACK&#8221; a comprehensive evaluation of vaccine schedules. Denmark ordered a ban on Sunday on civil drone flights, after drones were observed at several military facilities overnight, following a week in which drone sorties caused the temporary closures of several Danish airports.
The Danish military said in a statement it had deployed &#8220;several capacities&#8221; in response to the overnight sightings at bases, declining further comment on the nature of its response.
Drone sorties earlier this week forced Denmark to shut airports, including a nearly four-hour closure of Copenhagen Airport on Monday.
Denmark has called the drones part of a &#8220;hybrid attack.&#8221; It has stopped short of saying definitively who it believes is responsible, but Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has suggested it could be Moscow, calling Russia the primary &#8220;country that poses a threat to European security.&#8221; The Kremlin denies blame.

Under the ban, civilian drones will be barred from Danish airspace from Monday through Friday of the coming week, when Denmark, which holds the rotating presidency of the EU for the second half of this year, will be hosting European leaders.
&#8220;We are currently in a difficult security situation, and we must ensure the best possible working conditions for the armed forces and the police when they are responsible for security during the EU summit,&#8221; Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said in a statement on Sunday.
Denmark will host EU leaders on Wednesday, followed by a summit on Thursday of the wider, 47-member European Political Community, set up to unite the EU with other friendly European countries after Russia&#8217;s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
A German air defense frigate arrived in Copenhagen on Sunday to assist with airspace surveillance during the high-profile events.

NATO said on Saturday it is upgrading its mission in the Baltic Sea with an air-defense frigate and other assets in response to drone incursions in Denmark.
Unidentified drones were observed near military installations in Denmark overnight, the Armed Forces said on Saturday, following several drone incursions near airports and critical infrastructure this week.
Copenhagen Airport, the Nordic region&#8217;s busiest, closed for several hours late on Monday as several large drones were seen in its airspace. Five smaller Danish airports, both civilian and military, were also shut temporarily in the following days.
In response, NATO will &#8220;conduct even more enhanced vigilance with new multi-domain assets in the Baltic Sea region,&#8221; it said in a statement emailed to Reuters.
The alliance said the new assets included &#8220;intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance platforms and at least one air-defense frigate.&#8221;
A NATO spokesperson said they would not provide details on which countries were contributing the extra assets.

The new assets will enhance NATO&#8217;s &#8220;Baltic Sentry&#8221; mission, launched in January in response to a string of incidents in which power cables, telecom links, and gas pipelines on the Baltic Sea bottom have been damaged.
NATO countries have deployed frigates, patrol aircraft, and naval drones as part of the mission, to help protect critical infrastructure.
The alliance also launched the &#8220;Eastern Sentry&#8221; mission this month, to bolster the defense of Europe&#8217;s eastern flank in response to Russian drone incursions into Polish airspace.
It warned Russia on Tuesday that it would use &#8220;all necessary military and non-military tools&#8221; to defend itself after Estonia said on Friday that three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets violated its airspace for 12 minutes before NATO Italian fighter jets escorted them out.
Russia has disputed that Russian jets violated Estonia&#8217;s airspace and said that its drones had not planned to hit targets in Poland.
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said on Saturday that the threat from drones was &#8220;high&#8221; and that the country would take measures to defend itself.
Russia&#8217;s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned NATO and the European Union on Saturday that &#8220;any aggression against my country will be met with a decisive response.&#8221;

President Donald Trump said Saturday he has spoken with advisers about annexing Greenland and has not ruled out military force.
Trump made the comments in a 10-minute phone interview with <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-says-couldnt-care-less-automakers-raise-prices-tariffs-rcna198731" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a>. The president said that he has “absolutely” spoken with top aides about annexing Greenland, a semiautonomous Danish territory in the northwest hemisphere, and gave “100%” certainty that “we’ll get Greenland.”
On acquiring Greenland, there is a “good possibility that we could do it without military force,” Trump said, but added that “I don’t take anything off the table.”
Asked about what message the United States acquiring Greenland would send to Russia, Trump dismissed the question.
“I don’t really think about that. I don’t really care. Greenland’s a very separate subject, very different. It’s international peace. It’s international security and strength,” the president said. “You have ships sailing outside Greenland from Russia, from China and from many other places. And we’re not going to allow things to happen that are going to be — that are going to hurt the world or the United States.”
The Trump administration has expressed interest in purchasing Greenland from Denmark. Administration officials have said Greenland, with its proximity to Russia and Arctic shipping lanes, represents a key security interest for the United States. Officials have also expressed interest in tapping into Greenland’s natural resources.
Vice President JD Vance visited U.S. sites on Greenland last week and scolded Denmark for its management of the territory,
“Our message to Denmark is very simple — you have not done a good job by the people of Greenland,” Vance <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/vance-calls-out-denmark-for-failures-in-greenland-you-have-not-done-a-good-job" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “You have underinvested in the people of Greenland and you have underinvested in the security architecture of this incredible, beautiful land mass.”
“What we think is going to happen is that the Greenlanders are going to choose through self-determination to become independent of Denmark, and then we’re going to have conversations with the people of Greenland from there,” he added.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen posted a <a href="https://x.com/larsloekke/status/1905764027210547565" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video</a> to social media after Vance’s visit hitting back at criticism from the White House.
&#8220;Many accusations and many allegations have been made. And of course, we are open to criticism,&#8221; Rasmussen said. &#8220;But let me be completely honest: we do not appreciate the tone in which it is being delivered. This is not how you speak to your close allies. And I still consider Denmark and the United States to be close allies.&#8221;

The president doubled down on his push for the island nation while speaking to reporters in the Oval Office — just a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Trump was dead serious about taking over the island.
&#8220;We need Greenland very importantly, for international security, we have to have Greenland,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It&#8217;s not a question of, &#8216;Do you think we can do without it?&#8217; We can&#8217;t. If you look at Greenland right now, if you look at the waterways, you have Chinese and Russian ships all over the place, and we&#8217;re not going to be able to do that. We&#8217;re not relying on Denmark or anybody else to take care of that situation.&#8221;
&#8220;And we&#8217;re not talking about peace for the United States,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;We&#8217;re talking about world peace. We&#8217;re talking about international security. And right now, you look at it, you have warships all over the place going through right along Greenland. We&#8217;re not going to let that happen. We cannot let that happen, or if it&#8217;s going to happen, we have to be protective of our country.&#8221;
The president said that &#8220;modern day weaponry&#8221; made Greenland &#8220;very important&#8221; from a strategic defense standpoint.
&#8220;If you notice, also some of those, you could call them roadways, they&#8217;re water roadways, but some of those areas are opening up and they&#8217;re opening up,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Ice breakers out there, they&#8217;re opening them. And by just nature, they&#8217;re opening up and they&#8217;re headed right into China, right into Russia, and we have no choice.&#8221;

Vice President JD Vance ripped Denmark during his visit to Greenland on Friday, saying the European country has &#8220;not done a good job&#8221; of protecting and investing in the arctic territory.
During remarks to U.S. troops at Pituffik Space Base, Vance said that the United States would take better care of Greenland than Denmark has. While Greenland has been mostly an autonomous territory since 1979, Denmark maintains its security and defense. The Trump administration, however, has pushed for taking control of Greenland, arguing that both Greenland and the United States would benefit from American control of the territory.
“Our message to Denmark is very simple — you have not done a good job by the people of Greenland,” Vance <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/jd-usha-vance-visit-greenland-most-greenlanders-dont-want-to-join-america/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “You have underinvested in the people of Greenland and you have underinvested in the security architecture of this incredible, beautiful land mass.”
&#8220;What we think is going to happen is that the Greenlanders are going to choose through self-determination to become independent of Denmark, and then we&#8217;re going to have conversations with the people of Greenland from there,&#8221; Vance added.
During his speech at the military base, Vance argued that Greenland is in a vulnerable position as world powers such as Russia and China make aggressive moves around the globe.
“We know that Russia and China and other nations are taking an extraordinary interest in Arctic passageways, Arctic naval routes, and, indeed, in the minerals of the Arctic territories,” he added. “We need to ensure America is leading in the Arctic.”
As Vance was addressing American troops in Greenland, President Donald Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that the United States needs Greenland for &#8220;international security.&#8221;
&#8220;We have to have Greenland. It&#8217;s not a question of, &#8216;Do you think we can do without it?&#8217; We can&#8217;t,&#8221; Trump said.
The Trump administration also has its sights set on Greenland&#8217;s natural resources as the territory is potentially rich in minerals and oil. Earlier this week, the Trump administration slammed Danish leaders and previous United States administrations for &#8220;neglect and inaction&#8221; on Greenland.
&#8220;In the decades since, neglect and inaction from Danish leaders and past U.S. administrations have presented our adversaries with the opportunity to advance their own priorities in Greenland and the Arctic,&#8221; a statement from the Office of the Vice President stated. &#8220;President Trump is rightly changing course.&#8221;

Vance Calls Out Denmark For Failures In Greenland: ‘You Have Not Done A Good Job’

President Donald Trump might have moved closer to achieving his goal of acquiring Greenland after two political parties that favor independence from Denmark won in the country’s parliamentary elections this week.
The country&#8217;s center-right Demokraatit Party, which favors a gradual independence from Denmark, won 29.9% of the vote, meaning it will have to form a coalition with other parties to form a government.
The top opposition party, Naleraq, which has a positive view of Trump and favors rapid independence from Denmark, came in second place with 24.5% of the vote, according to <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/12/europe/greenland-election-polls-close-demokraatit-intl-hnk/index.html">CNN</a>.
Inuit Ataqatigiit, the leftist incumbent ruling party, came in third with 21.4% of the vote, while another left-wing party, Siumut, came in fourth with 14.7%, the report said.
Jens-Frederik Nielsen, Demokraatit&#8217;s leader, said people in his country wanted &#8220;change,&#8221; but that does not mean they want &#8220;want independence tomorrow&#8221; and instead want to wait that there is a &#8220;good foundation&#8221; set before the island becomes fully independent from Denmark.
Acquiring Greenland has been a top foreign policy objective for Trump as he seeks to expand the U.S. for economic and national security reasons.
During his address to Congress last week, he said, &#8220;One way or the other, we&#8217;re going to get it.&#8221;
Greenland is located in the Arctic Circle, which is a strategic location for missile defense systems, as incoming ballistic missiles from adversaries like Russia would travel through the region to hit the U.S.
The region is also becoming critical for shipping lanes as some of the ice melts, making the waters more navigable.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in January that communist China was trying to stage operations in Greenland to take control of shipping lanes the same way that it has in the Panama Canal.
Rubio said that they are installing facilities that give them access to the Arctic under the cover of a Chinese company, but that, in reality, “serve a dual purpose, that in a moment of conflict, they could send naval vessels to that facility and operate from there.”
“And that is completely unacceptable to the security of the world and the national security of the United States,” he said.
“So the question becomes, if the Chinese begin to threaten Greenland, do we really trust that that is not a place where those deals are going to be made? Do we really trust that that is not a place where they would not intervene, maybe by force?”
Rubio noted that Denmark is unable to stop China because they are too weak and already relies on the U.S. to do so.
“If the United States is on the hook to provide, as we are now, we have a defense agreement with them to protect Greenland if it becomes under assault,” he said. “If we’re already on the hook for having to do that, then what we might as well have more control over what happens there. And so I know it’s a delicate topic for Denmark, but it’s, again, a national interest item for the United States.”

Rep. Earl L. &#8220;Buddy&#8221; Carter (R-GA) introduced <a href="https://buddycarter.house.gov/uploadedfiles/redwhitebluelandact.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">legislation</a> on Tuesday that would authorize the president to negotiate with Denmark to &#8220;purchase or otherwise acquire&#8221; Greenland. The legislation also includes a section requiring the renaming of Greenland as &#8220;Red, White, and Blueland&#8221; on maps and other records of the United States within six months of its enactment.
&#8220;America is back and will soon be bigger than ever with the addition of Red, White, and Blueland,&#8221; Carter <a href="https://buddycarter.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=15398" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a statement. &#8220;President Trump has correctly identified the purchase of what is now Greenland as a national security priority, and we will proudly welcome its people to join the freest nation to ever exist when our Negotiator-in-Chief inks this monumental deal.&#8221;
Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gop-bill-would-give-trump-authorization-to-negotiate-greenland-acquisition" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offered</a> a bill called the &#8220;Make Greenland Great Again Act&#8221; that would authorize the president to pursue negotiations with the Kingdom of Denmark to secure the acquisition of Greenland. The bill, which has more than a <a href="https://ogles.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-ogles-introduces-bill-make-greenland-great-again#:~:text=WASHINGTON%2C%20DC%20%E2%80%93%20On%20Monday%2C,Denmark%20to%20acquire%20Greenland%20immediately." target="_blank" rel="noopener">dozen</a> Republican co-sponsors, was <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/361?q=%7B%22search%22%3A%22Make+Greenland+Great+Again%22%7D&amp;s=1&amp;r=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">referred</a> to the House Foreign Affairs Committee but otherwise has not progressed any further.
House Republicans have put forward <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/republicans-offer-bills-to-realize-trumps-ideas-for-gulf-of-america-and-taking-back-panama-canal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bills</a> that would give life to some of Trump&#8217;s other foreign policy ambitions, such as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-announces-u-s-to-change-name-of-the-gulf-of-mexico" target="_blank" rel="noopener">renaming</a> the Gulf of Mexico the &#8220;Gulf of America&#8221; and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/top-former-trump-official-explains-why-trump-may-take-panama-canal-back" target="_blank" rel="noopener">taking back</a> the Panama Canal, that have also not gone very far in Congress to date.
During the first day of his second term, Trump signed an <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/restoring-names-that-honor-american-greatness/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">order</a> directing the Interior Secretary to “take all appropriate actions” to rename the U.S. Continental Shelf area as the Gulf of America. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum has since announced that his department had implemented the president’s instructions. A <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/house-republicans" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House Republican</a> has unveiled a bill that would pave the way for President-elect <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> to make a deal for the acquisition of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/greenland" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Greenland</a> for the United States.
The legislation from Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) comes after Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-u-s-ownership-and-control-of-greenland-is-an-absolute-necessity" target="_blank" rel="noopener">revived</a> talk about how the U.S. should take control of Greenland, a territory <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-greenland-will-benefit-tremendously-if-and-when-it-becomes-part-of-our-nation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">controlled</a> by Denmark, for &#8220;the purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the world.&#8221;
Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/make-greenland-great-again-trumps-house-gop-allies-unveil-bill-authorize-countrys-purchase" target="_blank" rel="noopener">obtained</a> a copy of the bill, labeled the &#8220;Make Greenland Great Again Act,&#8221; following a social media <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-greenland-will-benefit-tremendously-if-and-when-it-becomes-part-of-our-nation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a> from Trump that employed the phrase. The bill would &#8220;authorize the President to seek to enter into negotiations with the Kingdom of Denmark to secure the acquisition of Greenland by the United States.&#8221;

If enacted, the bill would allow the president to begin talks with Denmark at 12:01 p.m. EST on January 20, 2025, which would be one minute after Trump is sworn into office for his second term. &#8220;Not later than 5 calendar days after reaching an agreement with the Kingdom of Denmark relating to the acquisition of Greenland by the United States, the President shall transmit to the appropriate congressional committees the agreement, including all related materials and annexes,&#8221; the bill says.
The bill states the period for congressional review for any deal would be 60 calendar days from the date on which the president transmits the agreement to the appropriate committees, identified as the House Foreign Affairs Committee and Senate Foreign Relations Committee. &#8220;If no joint resolution of disapproval is enacted by Congress within the 60-calendar day period, the agreement&#8221; for entering negotiations described in the legislation &#8220;shall be in effect and take the full force of law,&#8221; the bill says.

&#8220;American economic and security interests will no longer take a backseat, and House Republicans are ready to help President Trump deliver for the American people,&#8221; Ogles said in a <a href="https://x.com/RepOgles/status/1878844481304228250" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a> to X sharing the Fox News report, which noted that his bill has several GOP co-sponsors.
The news follows <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/republicans-offer-bills-to-realize-trumps-ideas-for-gulf-of-america-and-taking-back-panama-canal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">legislative offerings</a> from House Republicans that would give life to some of Trump&#8217;s other stated foreign policy ambitions, such as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-announces-u-s-to-change-name-of-the-gulf-of-mexico" target="_blank" rel="noopener">renaming</a> the Gulf of Mexico the &#8220;Gulf of America&#8221; and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/top-former-trump-official-explains-why-trump-may-take-panama-canal-back" target="_blank" rel="noopener">taking back</a> the Panama Canal.

GOP Bill Would Give Trump Authorization To Negotiate Greenland Acquisition

Denmark is reportedly open to discussing a more prominent role for the United States in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/greenland" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Greenland</a> short of a wholly selling the island.
The Danish government is trying to avoid a public dispute with the incoming Trump administration over the future of Greenland. While Denmark is against selling Greenland to the U.S., Danish officials have sent messages to Trump officials offering discussion on a new partnership in Greenland’s future, according to <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/01/11/denmark-response-trump-greenland-threat" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Axios</a>.
The messages were sent in response to Trump’s expressed willingness to purchase Greenland outright. The president-elect has said that the United States has major national security interests in Greenland and that the island is a key to pushing back against Russian and Chinese influence in the Arctic, an issue that will grow more prominent as Arctic ice melts and opens and expands new lanes for shipping.
“Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation,” Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-greenland-will-benefit-tremendously-if-and-when-it-becomes-part-of-our-nation">said</a> in a recent post on Truth Social. “We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside World. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”
Trump first raised a potential purchase of Greenland during his first term, though the suggestion was largely dismissed. Trump’s renewed interest in purchasing the island appears to be a much more serious proposal, however, and that has worried Danish officials who do not want to sell the island nor fight publicly with the Trump administration over it.

Danish officials grew more worried after Trump did not rule out using the U.S. military to protect U.S. security interests on Greenland.
Danish leaders have sent messages to the president-elect through intermediaries pitching the case that the U.S. and Danish governments can reach a new agreement on Greenland that will satisfy Trump’s concerns over national security, but stop short of a full sale of the island.
On Friday, top leaders in Denmark and Greenland met in Copenhagen to discuss Trump’s offer to buy Greenland. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said in a press conference afterward that she had requested a meeting with the president-elect. Greenland Prime Minister Múte Egede said that Greenland should be an independent nation.
“Greenland is for the Greenlandic people. We do not want to be Danish, we do not want to be American. We want to be Greenlandic,” Egede said.

President-elect Donald Trump said Thursday night during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago that the U.S. needed to take control of Greenland &#8220;very badly&#8221; for national security.
Trump made the remarks after he has reignited the issue in recent weeks.
When asked by a reporter how much it would cost for the U.S. to purchase Greenland from Denmark, Trump said, &#8220;Well, maybe no price tag.&#8221;
&#8220;Look, we&#8217;re gonna have to see what happens, because Denmark, we need this for national security,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;We need Greenland very badly. You look at the Russian ships, the Chinese ships, they&#8217;re all over the place. They&#8217;re surrounding. Now they have for a long time, that&#8217;s a lane, but we need that for national security.&#8221;
&#8220;So I don&#8217;t know that Denmark has any right, title, and interest, and we&#8217;re going to find that out,&#8221; he continued.
Trump said that Denmark understandably does not want to give up the island, but it will pay a price if it doesn&#8217;t.
&#8220;Now Denmark maybe doesn&#8217;t like it, but then we can&#8217;t be too happy with Denmark,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And maybe things have to happen with respect to Denmark having to do with tariffs.&#8221;
Trump said he believes Denmark has &#8220;to do this I think for the free world.&#8221;
&#8220;We need that to protect the free world, it’s very important, and getting more important every year,&#8221; he continued.

Trump on Tuesday repeatedly refused to rule out using the U.S. military to acquire Greenland and the Panama Canal when asked if he could “assure the world” that he would not “use military or economic coercion” to acquire the two areas.
“No,” Trump said. “I can’t assure you, you’re talking about Panama and Greenland. No, I can’t assure you on either of those two, but I can say this, we need them for economic security. The Panama Canal was built for our military.”

The reporter then asked whether Trump would commit to not using the military.

Donald Trump just gave one of the greatest press conferences in American history. He talked more in this press conference than Joe Biden has for four years. He spoke quite coherently and cogently.
The press conference was a doozy. It was wonderful in so many ways.
Trump is going to instruct the federal government to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, and I am here for it. It is fantastic. If you look at a map, about 65% of the coastline along the Gulf of Mexico is in America.
Who&#8217;s going to stop us from renaming it? Mexico? Sure. They can’t even balance the budget or stop the cartels from running their country.
But that&#8217;s not the only item on the Manifest Destiny Agenda for the Trump administration that I love.
I love that Trump has been talking about making Canada the 51st state. I know that Justin Trudeau is out there tweeting how it&#8217;ll never be the 51st state, but he has no say in the matter because when we invade, he will be shipped to work the Panama Canal.
More America is better. Greenland, a vital place territorially, is on Trump’s list. Why not? The United States spends money on the military defense of Greenland, and we have military bases in Greenland. We use Greenland’s northern border in order to protect Arctic shipping. Greenland is very important because as ice melts in the Arctic Circle, there will be brand-new North Atlantic shipping lanes which have drawn interest from Russia and China. Either Russia and China are going to have an impact there, or we are. Arctic shipping has increased, according to <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/saradorn/2025/01/08/why-does-trump-want-to-buy-greenland-heres-what-to-know-as-don-jr-arrives-on-island/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Forbes</a>, 37% over the past decade.
In addition, Greenland is part of the strategically important Greenland-Iceland-UK gap, a choke point that Russian ships actually have to transit to travel from the Arctic Ocean to the Atlantic.
And Greenland has a plethora of untapped mineral resources. Those include copper, iron ore, diamonds, and oil. We should purchase Greenland.

The people of Greenland have been talking about independence for a very long time. If that were to happen, they would realign with the United States in a heartbeat. First of all, it&#8217;s better to live in the United States than it is to live in a principality of Denmark. Second, as far as security concerns to defend those Arctic Straits against Russia and China, do you think Denmark is going to go up against the Russians or the Chinese?
If that is a matter of national security for the United States, why not sell Greenland to the United States if you are Denmark?
Back in 1775, Denmark and Norway declared Greenland a colony. Greenland was then formally transferred from Norway to Denmark by a treaty in 1814. Denmark started trying to colonize the island in the 1880s.
But before the 1880s, a huge chunk was actually discovered by Americans. Charles Francis Hall saw northwest Greenland during the Polaris expedition, which was from 1871 to 1873. And another explorer named Robert Peary actually claimed much of the North.
The only reason that Denmark has any claim whatsoever to Greenland, as far as the United States is concerned, is because when the United States was interested in purchasing the Danish West Indies during World War I, Denmark required the U.S. to recognize its claim over the whole island of Greenland.
At the time, Peary, the explorer who discovered and claimed much of it, opposed the U.S. giving up the claim because the Monroe Doctrine said there should be no European interference in the Western Hemisphere.
He correctly suggested that we should have purchased the island outright. And then, as it turned out, we had to defend it anyway because in the early 1940s, Denmark had been conquered by the Nazis. Once that happened, the United States basically had to defend Greenland as its own principality because it was the only known significant source of a material called rhyolite. Because Germany was attempting to use the North Atlantic as a base during World War II, the United States actually did apply the Monroe Doctrine on European colonies in the North Atlantic Ocean.
By 1946, the joint chiefs of staff had listed Greenland and Iceland as essential international locations for American bases. In fact, when NATO was in its heyday, Greenland was seen as more important to both American and Canadian defense than some of the Western European countries. That was because the very, very north of Canada, the North American continent, gets pretty close to territory that is controlled by Russia.
In 1951, Greenland and the United States signed a treaty that gave the United States exclusive jurisdiction over defense areas within Greenland. So there is a significantly solid case that the United States actually ought to buy Greenland.
But there’s more. 
President Trump has made clear that he does not want the Panama Canal to be controlled by the Chinese. He&#8217;s half joking when he&#8217;s making fun of Justin Trudeau and talking about making Canada the 51st state, but the Greenland issue is actually a fairly serious proposal. And when it comes to the Panama Canal, there really is a serious problem. The Panama Canal was built with American labor and money. It was turned over idiotically by one of our worst presidents, Jimmy Carter.
The Panama Canal has run significantly worse since we turned it over to Panama. The Panamanians have turned over both ends of the canals to Chinese companies who could easily shut off the entrances and exits to the Panama Canal. 40% of all American container traffic goes through the Panama Canal. That&#8217;s a lot of American commerce moving through the Panama Canal.
If the United States were ever to get into a conflict with China, most shipping would cease because China would try to take control of the Taiwan Strait and the Strait of Malacca, which is basically the tip of the South China Sea. That would shut off another shipping route. If they could shut off shipping in the Western Hemisphere, they could absolutely cripple the American economy.

On foreign policy, Trump was asked about what he&#8217;s going to do if the hostages are not freed by Hamas by the time he takes office in just 13 days. 
President Trump <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/news/trump-vows-all-hell-will-break-out-if-hamas-hostages-not-released-before-he-takes-office-do-i-have-to-define-it-for-you/">answered</a>:
<blockquote>Do I have to define it for you? Look, all hell will break out. … If they’re not back by the time I get into office, all hell will break out in the Middle East. It will not be good for Hamas and it will not be good, frankly, for anyone. All hell will break out. I don’t have to say anymore, but that’s what it is. And they should have given them back a long time ago, they should have never taken them, there should have never been the attack on Oct. 7. People forget that, but there was, and many people [were] killed.</blockquote>
This is strength. Joe Biden never had any moral clarity about this because he&#8217;s a fool. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has moral clarity about this.
And this is the correct approach. If Hamas is not afraid, they&#8217;re not releasing the hostages. It is that simple. There&#8217;s nothing else that is going to make them release the hostages other than dire threats and action and allowing Israel to do exactly what it needs to do in the Gaza Strip.
And then Trump was asked about the possibility of a preemptive strike on the Iranian nuclear facilities if they were to ramp up their nuclear production. And Trump gave the correct answer on this one too.
Again, Trump gave more answers in this one press conference than Biden has given in four years. He made more intelligent statements in this press conference than Biden has ever said in his entire career. That’s because Biden was, is, and will be a dullard. 
President Trump explained that if Iran were to attempt a nuclear weapon, he wouldn’t tell the reporter what he would do because he&#8217;s the president, and he&#8217;s not going to tell some dumb reporter what he&#8217;s going to do because it&#8217;s a stupid question. That is correct.
Speaking of other good things, President Trump also had some words about Biden&#8217;s attempts to shut down drilling for oil off pretty much all of America&#8217;s Eastern seaboard on his way out. Trump said, we like to produce energy in America. American energy independence has made us less dependent on some of the worst places in the world. That is a good thing. And Biden is throttling America&#8217;s energy independence.
A great press conference.
He’s better than he ever was.
