On the day Barack Obama was inaugurated in January 2009, I announced on my national radio show that, &#8220;While I did not vote for Barack Obama, he is my president, and I wish him well.&#8221; I added that I was delighted a black man had been elected president of the United States, that perhaps this would not only help black-white relations get even better than they were but also help put to rest the notion of a racist America.
As it turned out, neither hope was achieved. In fact, in large measure due to Obama, race relations deteriorated during his presidency. Obama turned out to be Black Lives Matter Light. As Politico wrote in 2014, Al Sharpton, perhaps the most consistent race-baiter of the last half-century, &#8220;became Obama&#8217;s go-to man on race.&#8221; According to The Washington Post, Sharpton visited the Obama White House 72 times.
Obama is idolized by liberals and leftists because he was an activist liberal whose goal, in his own words, right before he was first elected, was &#8220;fundamentally transforming the United States of America.&#8221; And because they love his cool, even-tempered, regal style.
That style masks a demagoguery that far surpasses our current president. It was on display last week when he spoke at the Democratic National Convention.
Obama: &#8220;I did hope, for the sake of our country, that Donald Trump might show some interest in taking the job seriously; that he might come to feel the weight of the office and discover some reverence for the democracy that had been placed in his care. But he never did. &#8230; Donald Trump hasn&#8217;t grown into the job because he can&#8217;t.&#8221;
These ad hominem attacks by a previous president on his successor are unique in my lifetime. Perhaps they are unique in modern American history. George W. Bush, for example, never said a critical word of Barack Obama, despite the latter&#8217;s frequent attacks on Bush&#8217;s presidency.
Obama: &#8220;And the consequences of that failure are severe. 170,000 Americans dead. Millions of jobs gone.&#8221;
America ranks tenth in deaths per million. Are the greater proportion of deaths per million in countries such as Belgium, Spain, the U.K., Italy and Sweden the result of corrupt and/or inept leaders? Was President Donald Trump responsible, for example, for the decision made by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to order nursing homes to accept COVID-19 cases, causing the virus to sweep through the elderly in those facilities, resulting in at least 6,000 deaths (and likely many more that New York is hiding from the official count)?
Regarding &#8220;millions of jobs gone,&#8221; they are gone overwhelmingly because of the lockdowns ordered by state governors and mayors, not the virus. Lockdowns, we were told, would last two weeks to &#8220;flatten the curve,&#8221; but they continue six months later in many Democratically controlled cities and states.
Obama: &#8220;And our democratic institutions threatened like never before.&#8221;
Obama offers not one example of this or of his many other attacks on Trump. There is a reason. Obama has always attacked straw men. During his presidency, I analyzed about 20 of his speeches. They and his off-the-cuff comments were always characterized by straw-men arguments.
Even The New York Times, in 2009, when it still published occasional articles that deviated from the Left, featured an article by Helene Cooper (who is black), its then-White House correspondent, titled &#8220;Some Obama Enemies Are Made Totally of Straw.&#8221; In it, Cooper cited example after example of statements ostensibly made by others, but actually made up by Obama — which he then proceeded to shoot down. This characterized his approach to discourse throughout his presidency and continued with last week&#8217;s speech at the DNC.
Obama: &#8220;Joe and Kamala will restore our standing in the world — and as we&#8217;ve learned from this pandemic, that matters.&#8221;
Obama, like all on the Left, equate America&#8217;s &#8220;standing in the world&#8221; with its president&#8217;s standing with the Left. Nonleftists do not. Last year, when the courageous Hong Kong demonstrators waved a flag representing liberty, they waved the flag of the United States of America. Apparently, America&#8217;s standing with them is pretty high.
Obama: &#8220;(Joe and Kamala) believe that in a democracy, the right to vote is sacred.&#8221;
Another straw man. Who doesn&#8217;t believe &#8220;the right to vote is sacred&#8221; — those who insist on people having an ID when they vote, as voters do in virtually every other country? Or is it those who don&#8217;t believe in sending tens of millions of ballots to people who never signed up to receive an absentee ballot?
Obama: &#8220;I understand why a new immigrant might look around this country and wonder whether there&#8217;s still a place for him here.&#8221;
Really? What new legal immigrant thinks that way? Or is Obama dishonestly conflating legal with illegal immigrants? The answer is, of course, he is (though even illegal immigrants apparently believe there&#8217;s a place for them here; isn&#8217;t that, after all, why they come?).
Obama: &#8220;This administration has shown it will tear our democracy down if that&#8217;s what it takes to win.&#8221;
How has this administration shown that? Why didn&#8217;t Obama provide a single example to sustain this extraordinary charge? Anyway, it seems to many Americans that those who lie to the country for two years about Russian collusion with the Trump campaign, impeach a president solely for political reasons, dedicate all news reporting to the removal of a president, smear and lie about a decent man nominated for the Supreme Court, corrupt the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act system for political ends, and politicize the CIA and FBI are the ones who &#8220;will tear our democracy down if that&#8217;s what it takes to win.&#8221;
Obama&#8217;s speech offered very little of substance about the man it was directed against, but it said much about the man who delivered it.

Democrats are more divided than they appear according to numbers released by the Democratic National Committee following their nominating convention last week.
<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/over-1000-democratic-delegates-voted-against-party-platform">Fox News reports</a> that of the 5,000 delegates that voted on the party&#8217;s platform, widely recognized as the most progressive Democratic Party platform in years, more than a thousand delegates &#8212; around 25% of all attendees &#8212; voted against the decision to approve the party&#8217;s official policies.
The situation reveals a breakdown in the party that could cost the Democrats in the coming years and indicates a vast difference between the &#8220;moderate&#8221; Democratic party, which fought to nominate former Vice President Joe Biden as its 2020 contender, and the growing progressive wing, which backed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
&#8220;The DNC revealed over the weekend that  3,562 delegates voted to approve the platform, while a total of 1,069 voted no, and 87 abstained,&#8221; Fox reported. &#8220;The number of convention delegates who voted no is roughly the same as the number of delegates pledged to progressive Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. The populist lawmaker and &#8216;Medicare-for-all&#8217; champion was the last remaining rival to Democratic nominee Joe Biden in the primaries before suspending his White House bid and endorsing the former vice president in April.&#8221;
The number could give Biden&#8217;s team pause; although Sanders himself has pledged to back the former Veep, recent reports indicate growing unrest within the progressive caucus, and fear that once elected, Biden will not be as willing to embrace far-left policy as they expect.
Biden has already turned down a &#8220;Medicare-for-All&#8221; health care plan, refuses to endorse the &#8220;defund the police&#8221; movement and, as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blm-attacks-dnc-for-failing-to-fully-align-with-movement-calls-conventions-racial-justice-focus-lip-service">The Daily Wire reported Sunday</a>, encouraged Democratic platform committees to marginalize the official Black Lives Matter organization, even though Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris, made racial justice a central theme of the convention.
At least one Sanders convention delegate acknowledged acrimony.
“We were upset. There was pushback. There were emails and phone calls,” a Sanders supporter told Fox.
Only two Democratic legislators voted against the platform &#8212; Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) &#8212; both because the platform failed to include a fully single-payer health care plan.
Although the numbers are shocking, the discord is not necessarily unexpected &#8212; and Republicans, who raised eyebrows Sunday by refusing to issue an official platform for their own convention, may have decided to avoid a similar display of major, internal party fracture by avoiding policy altogether.
Instead of an official platform, the Republicans are pledging to &#8220;enthusiastically support&#8221; their nominee, according to <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/gop-no-new-2020-platform-trump-agenda">Fox News</a>. Instead of voting on changes, the RNC will leave the party&#8217;s 2016 platform intact.
&#8220;The RNC has unanimously voted to forego the Convention Committee on Platform, in appreciation of the fact that it did not want a small contingent of delegates formulating a new platform without the breadth of perspectives within the ever-growing Republican movement,&#8221; the RNC said in a statement Sunday.

During a Sunday press conference, President Donald Trump took a shot at the general left-wing bend of mainstream reporters by telling them that he hoped they all had a &#8220;great weekend” at their “convention,&#8221; referencing the Democratic National Convention (DNC).
“It’s good to see you all,&#8221; the president said to the press. &#8220;Hope you had a great weekend at your convention.”
Though there were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dnc-ratings-bomb-jumped-off-a-ratings-cliff">rough ratings</a> for the DNC, which was virtual due to coronavirus precautions, the media found themselves praising the convention.
&#8220;Michelle Obama tells ‘the cold hard truth’ in a searing DNC keynote speech,&#8221; CNBC <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/17/michelle-obama-tells-cold-hard-truth-in-a-searing-dnc-keynote-speech.html">raved</a> over the former first lady’s speech.
MSNBC&#8217;s Rachel Maddow and Nicolle Wallace were similarly moved.
&#8220;And then Michelle Obama starts talking, and we&#8217;re all like – none of us breathed for 18 minutes,&#8221; Maddow said.
Wallace said Mrs. Obama &#8220;delivered epic shade&#8221; by using the phrase, &#8220;it is what it is,&#8221; <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/msnbc-hosts-praise-michelle-obama-dnc-speech">according</a> to Fox News.
Chief Washington correspondent for Politico and senior political analyst for CNN Ryan Lizza was even more open about his feelings for former President Barack Obama&#8217;s convention speech.

As noted by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/study-evening-news-150-times-more-negative-of-trump-than-biden">The Daily Wire</a> on Monday, tracking from the conservative Media Research Center found major media bias against President Donald Trump. In fact, evening news was shown to be a stunning 150 times more negative of President Trump than Democratic presidential nominee and former VP Joe Biden.
“From June 1 through July 31, the ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts focused 512 minutes of airtime on the President, or nine times more than the 58 minutes allotted to Biden,” Newsbusters <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/rich-noyes/2020/08/17/study-150-times-more-negative-news-trump-biden">reported</a>. “This is an even wider gap than the spring <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/rich-noyes/2020/06/10/nets-blast-trump-9x-more-negative-comments-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">when Trump received seven times more coverage</a> than Biden (523 minutes vs. 75 minutes).”
“During these two months, our analysts documented 668 evaluative statements about the President, 95% of which (634) were negative, vs. a mere five percent (34) that were positive,” the report continued. “Using the same methodology (fully described at the end of this article), we found very few evaluative statements about Joe Biden — just a dozen, two-thirds of which (67%) were positive.”
The Daily Wire added: &#8220;In those same two months, virtually every negative story about Biden — from Tara Reade’s sexual assault allegations to his sharp leftward shift, to his apparent racial gaffes — was all swept under the rug or dramatically under-reported, even as the newscasts continued to negatively cover President Trump. The former vice president’s own policy platform, which includes massive expansions of government health care, education, and environmental programs, received just &#8216;a meager 5 minutes, 22 seconds of airtime, not one second of which included any critical analysis from any journalist.'&#8221;
Though Trump started with a lighthearted jab at the press, the president delivered promising news during the Sunday presser: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-announces-coronavirus-therapeutic-given-emergency-use-authorization-by-fda">emergency use authorization</a>” for convalescent plasma as a potential treatment against the China-originated novel coronavirus.

&#8220;Black Lives Matter&#8221; &#8212; the official organization led by founder Patrisse Cullors &#8212; fired back at the Democratic National Committee and its convention over the weekend, registering disappointment that the group did not fully embrace the movement&#8217;s goals and calling the convention&#8217;s focus on racial justice &#8220;lip service.&#8221;
<a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/08/22/underneath-democratic-convention-a-deep-divide-between-blm-activists-and-biden-400065">POLITICO reports</a> that Cullors, especially, is disappointed that the DNC did not go further to address racial injustice, even though both 2020 Democratic nominee Joe Biden and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), addressed the matter in their acceptance speeches.
“It’s been unfortunate to not see the Democratic Party fully align themselves with the powerful work this movement has been doing,&#8221; Cullors told the outlet.
Biden and Harris, as well as other DNC attendees, were more than willing to endorse the idea behind the &#8220;Black Lives Matter&#8221; movement, but the organization has consistently refused to endorse the official BLM organization, likely because the &#8220;Black Lives Matter&#8221; group has a radical platform that goes far beyond the Democratic Party’s official policy positions on most issues.

Biden, during the Democratic National Convention last week, worked to position himself as a moderate, often co-opting traditional Republican themes, and bringing moderate Republican supporters on stage for keynote speeches.
That is an insult, racial justice activists say.
&#8220;It took seven years for Democrats to articulate that Black lives matter. Now, the country is watching to see if and how they will close the gap between symbolism and substance,&#8221; another co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement told POLITICO.
In the background, things got especially heated. Biden&#8217;s team reportedly instructed his allies, affiliated with the far-left Vermont socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, to rein in Cullors and other members of the party&#8217;s progressive coalition who were trying to make radical changes to the DNC&#8217;s agenda. In particular, Biden wanted progressives to abandon Cullors&#8217; &#8220;BREATHE&#8221; Act, which would have, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/what-is-the-breathe-act-squad-members-push-defund-police-reparations">according to Fox News</a>, eliminated federal funding for most law enforcement programs, abolished jails and most forms of punishment for criminal behavior, and ended immigration enforcement.
Biden, more generally, has refused to support &#8220;anti-racism&#8221; polices that gained momentum following George Floyd&#8217;s death while in the custody of the Minneapolis Police Department. Despite the Trump administration’s insistence, Biden has distanced himself from the progressive movement to &#8220;defund&#8221; and disband police departments in most major cities, though he has not explicitly condemned violence in cities like Portland, Seattle, and Chicago.

President Trump slammed the Democratic Party on Sunday for starting two caucus meetings during last week’s convention with the Pledge of Allegiance minus the words “under God.”
At least two speakers who led auxiliary events during the virtual Democratic National Convention <a href="http://dailywire.com/news/watch-dnc-caucuses-omit-under-god-from-the-pledge-of-allegiance">omitted “under God”</a> from the pledge. The words were not omitted during several recitals of the pledge during main convention events, however.

The president claimed on Saturday that the Democratic Party had taken the words “under God” out of the Pledge of Allegiance, sparking several media outlets to issue fact-checks rating his claim false since the edited versions of the pledge were only recited during caucus meetings, while the convention’s central, televised events featured the full version.
“The Democrats took the word GOD out of the Pledge of Allegiance at the Democrat National Convention. At first I thought they made a mistake, but it wasn’t. It was done on purpose. Remember Evangelical Christians, and ALL, this is where they are coming from-it’s done. Vote Nov 3!” Trump said.
Two Democratic delegates did alter the pledge. Delegate A.J. Durrani omitted “under God” from his remarks during the Muslim Delegates and Allies Assembly caucus meeting. The delegate leader for the LGBTQ caucus meeting omitted the phrase as well.
The Democratic National Convention stirred more controversy when former Women’s March leader <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/absolutely-our-party-democrats-embrace-linda-sarsour-at-national-convention">Linda Sarsour</a> spoke at the Muslim Delegates and Allies Assembly meeting. Sarsour has a history of making anti-Semitic remarks as well as supporting the Boycott, Divest, and Sanctions (BDS) movement to cut off international support and aid to Israel.
“The Democratic Party is not perfect, but it is absolutely our party in this moment,” Sarsour said in part of her afternoon address on Tuesday.
The progressive group Women’s March, of which Sarsour was a longtime member and leader, cut ties with her and two other board members last year amid controversy over their anti-Semitic remarks.
The campaign of former Vice President Joe Biden, who accepted the Democratic nomination for president on Thursday, <a href="http://dailywire.com/news/joe-biden-condemns-linda-sarsour-after-she-speaks-at-dnc">condemned Sarsour’s appearance</a> at the convention over her past anti-Semitic comments and stances.
“Joe Biden has been a strong supporter of Israel and a vehement opponent of anti-Semitism his entire life, and he obviously condemns her views and opposes BDS, as does the Democratic platform,” campaign spokesman Andrew Bates said. “She has no role in the Biden campaign whatsoever.”
Bates also pointed to the Democratic Party platform, which explicitly opposes the BDS movement: “We oppose any effort to unfairly single out and delegitimize Israel, including at the United Nations or through the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement.”

Rapper-turned-actor-turned-producer Ice Cube is not feeling the love after four days of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), in which politician after politician delivered one sanctimonious speech after the other. In Ice Cube&#8217;s mind, the whole parade was one big showboat with little substance and nothing for the black community.
In a video posted to Twitter, Ice Cube lamented that the DNC offered nothing to the American black community beyond the same old talking points.
&#8220;Over the last four days, the Democratic national party held a convention. A lot of people getting up there and talking and everybody really eating it up. Throwing their hands in the air like they just don&#8217;t care,&#8221; he began.
&#8220;What I didn&#8217;t hear is, what&#8217;s in it for us? What&#8217;s in it for the black community besides the same old thing we&#8217;ve been getting from these parties? What&#8217;s in it for us for real?” he continued. &#8220;I didn&#8217;t hear anybody mention a contract with black America. And I don&#8217;t know why because it&#8217;s one of the most comprehensive reform documents that’s come out in a long time that can really address the problem. The way it looks, they don&#8217;t have a plan. Everybody is, you know, talking about, &#8216;get Trump out, get Trump out, get Trump out.'&#8221;
Though Ice Cube would like to &#8220;get Trump out,&#8221; he acknowledged a Biden presidency will do little to change the current status quo. He took particular issue with the fact that black businesses have been severely affected by the lockdowns with little or no plan offered to help them survive.
&#8220;If you vote, that&#8217;s going to happen on the first day. So now what? Trump out. Now what? What do we get in the first hundred days? That&#8217;s what we [are] trying to figure out. What do we actually get that they could give us overnight?&#8221; he questioned. &#8220;They just pulled $3 trillion out they a** and gave it to their friends. That&#8217;s American taxpayer money. That&#8217;s your money that they just gave away.&#8221;
&#8220;And then there’s 42% of Black businesses closing. None of that money—where’s our f***ing bailout? Where’s the bailout, not the PPE loan that they didn&#8217;t give us? Where’s the bailout?&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I don&#8217;t wanna hear about deficit. I don&#8217;t wanna hear about what our generation is going to have to pay. After Hollywood actress Rose McGowan unloaded on Democrats during the final night of the convention for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rose-mcgowan-blasts-dems-on-final-night-of-convention-says-theyve-achieved-nothing">failing to help people</a>, Alyssa Milano decided to defend them by listing “all the things the Democratic Party has done to make the world a better place.”
Milano kicked off the list with the 19th Amendment, noting that it was passed under the leadership of Democratic President Woodrow Wilson. McGowan pushed back.
“Ummm&#8230; did you conveniently forget only WHITE WOMEN got the right to vote? They betrayed all others,” said McGowan, who then remarked she didn’t have “enough middle fingers” to sufficiently respond to Milano’s statement.

In response to a user who noted that the Democratic Party defended slavery, Arquette also said: &#8220;Yet the clan marched with Trump now. Interesting isn’t it. My family fought for the Union. Yours?&#8221; 
McGowan then slammed Arquette by alluding to the overly political speech she gave at the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fk-off-ricky-gervais-blasts-hollywood-for-lecturing-world-politicizing-everything-trolls-them-over-epstein">Golden Globes</a> back in January.

Back in January, host Ricky Gervais expressly told the Golden Globes attendees to not politicize their acceptance speeches: “You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg. So, if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your god, and f**k off. No one cares about your views on politics or culture.”
Arquette did it anyway. 
“I’m so grateful to be here and celebrate this, but also I know tonight, January 5, 2020, we’re not going to look back on this night,” said Arquette. “In the history books, we will see a country on the brink of war—the United States of America—the president tweeting out a threat of 52 bombs, including cultural sites.”
“So while I love my kids, so much, I beg of us all to give them a better world. For our kids, and their kids, we have to vote in 2020, and we have to beg and plead for everyone we know to vote in 2020,” she said.

Ryan Lizza, chief Washington correspondent of Politico, is the kind of character assassin who likes to go to the White House briefing and throw beanball questions about how many coronavirus deaths President Donald Trump thinks are acceptable.
If that sounds darkly partisan, you could also see the sunny side of Lizza on Twitter, who almost levitated over former President Barack Obama&#8217;s speech at the Democratic National Convention. &#8220;Barack Obama just delivered the finest convention speech in modern history (again),&#8221; he tweeted. &#8220;Spell-binding, chilling, optimistic, beautifully written, and expertly delivered. Incredible moment.&#8221;
Conservative Twitter informally awarded him the Chris Matthews Thrill Up My Leg Prize for most infatuated reaction. But it was still second to the emotions of the average &#8220;objective&#8221; journalist.
So let&#8217;s focus on how Obama&#8217;s speech could be evaluated more critically. Some lines were mean-spirited, phony or laughable.
1. Obama said: &#8220;Donald Trump hasn&#8217;t grown into the job because he can&#8217;t. And the consequences of that failure are severe: 170,000 Americans dead, millions of jobs gone, while those at the top take in more than ever.&#8221;
If we were to have a President Hillary Clinton, would Obama (or his many media allies) consider it fair game to blame tens of thousands of American COVID-19 deaths on her? Do they honestly believe that, under Democrats, the death toll would have been 170? That would ignore the fact that the worst coronavirus death tolls are largely in states with Democratic governors.
2. Obama touted Joe Biden&#8217;s character: &#8220;Joe&#8217;s a man who learned early on to treat every person he meets with respect and dignity &#8230; That empathy, that decency, the belief that everybody counts — that&#8217;s who Joe is.&#8221;
That&#8217;s a Pants on Fire lie. Just weeks ago, Biden sneered that any black voter who doesn&#8217;t support him isn&#8217;t really black. In 2012, Biden smeared Wall Street when speaking before an audience with many African Americans, saying, &#8220;They&#8217;re gonna put y&#8217;all back in chains.&#8221; Examples abound.
3. This Obama spin about Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris really makes opponents laugh: &#8220;They believe that no one — including the president — is above the law, and that no public official — including the president — should use their office to enrich themselves or their supporters.&#8221;
Does that include presidents who massively enrich themselves immediately after leaving office? I don&#8217;t recall Biden denouncing Obama&#8217;s mega deals with Penguin Random House and Netflix.
4. This routine about Biden and Harris and their beliefs continued. &#8220;They understand that in this democracy, the commander in chief doesn&#8217;t use the men and women of our military, who are willing to risk everything to protect our nation, as political props to deploy against peaceful protesters on our own soil,&#8221; Obama said.
If Obama were ever surrounded by skeptical journalists, they might ask which protesters in cities like Portland and Seattle are &#8220;peaceful,&#8221; because it certainly wasn&#8217;t the hooligans throwing bricks and trying to set federal buildings on fire. Obama is right that Democrats love to blur the peaceful and violent protesters into a heroic whole. Harris called them a &#8220;coalition of conscience&#8221; taking to the streets.
5. Finally, Obama said of the Biden-Harris ticket: &#8220;They understand that political opponents aren&#8217;t &#8216;un-American&#8217; just because they disagree with you; that a free press isn&#8217;t the &#8216;enemy&#8217; but the way we hold officials accountable.&#8221;
False. In April, Biden said Trump&#8217;s differing opinion on mail-in voting was &#8220;un-American.&#8221; And most conservatives thought it was rich for Obama to uphold the press, when even Obama-supporting journalists admitted he was the harshest president in history in prosecuting journalists during leak investigations.
Donald Trump isn&#8217;t wrong to think of the media elite as an enemy, even as Obama arrogantly poses as the defender of hardened observers such as ABC&#8217;s Terry Moran, who oozed in 2009 that Obama was &#8220;taking a step down into the Oval Office.&#8221;

GRAHAM: Phony Lines From Barack Obama’s Speech

I urge those who still indulge the fiction that former President Barack Obama is a uniter and great statesman to read the transcript of his Democratic convention speech with an open mind and discerning eye.
Obama proudly violated the long-practiced rule that former presidents shouldn&#8217;t attack sitting ones. But he&#8217;s Obama, exempt from the rules, and he was attacking President Donald Trump, whom the left considers fair game for any smear anytime anywhere, no matter how deceitful and malicious.
Obama was petty, personal, dishonest and strikingly divisive while pretending to call for unity. He showcased the very qualities for which he torched Trump.
To address every objectionable aspect of this speech would require a full book chapter, so let me just highlight some of its most noxious parts.
Obama said: &#8220;I did hope, for the sake of our country, that Donald Trump might show some interest in taking the job seriously, that he might come to feel the weight of the office and discover some reverence for the democracy that had been placed in his care. But he never did. For close to four years now, he&#8217;s shown no interest in putting in the work, no interest in finding common ground, no interest in using the awesome power of his office to help anyone but himself and his friends, no interest in treating the presidency as anything but one more reality show that he can use to get the attention he craves. Donald Trump hasn&#8217;t grown into the job because he can&#8217;t. And the consequences of that failure are severe: 170,000 Americans dead, millions of jobs gone while those at the top take in more than ever, our worst impulses unleashed, our proud reputation around the world badly diminished and our democratic institutions threatened like never before.&#8221;
Projection, anyone? In every single sentence.
I honestly don&#8217;t know how even the most rabid Trump haters can deny he takes the job seriously, even if he occasionally gets in the mud with his detractors. He clearly recognizes the gravity of the presidency and reveres our system, which happens to not be a democracy but a constitutional republic.
Obama is confusing President Trump with himself. Trump is nothing if not an energizer bunny, tirelessly working to advance his pro-America agenda. Every day, he demonstrates his love for the United States and his commitment to ensure that it remains the world&#8217;s greatest nation.
No, Mr. Obama, you and your party are the ones assaulting our system, while Trump is trying to protect it. He is the immovable force on our side standing in your way, and, boy, do you and yours loathe him for it.
Trump is committed to appointing judges who will preserve our constitutional system, instead of exercising the wicked prerogative of dismantling it through judicial legislation. He further seeks to uphold the integrity of &#8220;our democracy&#8221; by safeguarding the integrity of our voting process and opposing myriad Democratic efforts to thwart it —plans to undermine the Electoral College; stack the Supreme Court; block voter ID measures; lower the voting age to 16; and push schemes to transfer power from duly elected congressmen to an unelected, unaccountable, power-mad administrative state.
Obama&#8217;s criticism of Trump for showing &#8220;no interest in finding common ground&#8221; is a bad-faith cliche. Progressives like Obama routinely accuse conservatives of divisiveness without proof, assuming the charge will stick because they&#8217;ve long categorically demonized us as bigots. But, in fact, Trump has repeatedly reached across the aisle and only abandoned his efforts when Sen. Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi consistently snubbed him and blocked almost all bipartisan initiatives he proposed, including those they had earlier embraced, such as a border wall. They even obstructed a COVID relief stimulus package to keep Trump from getting any credit.
Sadly, Obama is the one who drives an ongoing wedge between groups of Americans on the basis of identity. Trump has not only appealed to all Americans and specifically to minorities; his policies, in stark contrast with Obama&#8217;s, have dramatically improved their economic circumstances. Shouldn&#8217;t those real results matter far more than inflammatory, condescending rhetoric aimed at perpetuating an atmosphere of minority victimhood?
Obama and his fellow travelers have no proof that Trump is using the power of his office to enrich himself, unlike some in Obama&#8217;s orbit. They simply throw charges against the wall, and the media piles on to complete the libel, never providing evidence — only vicious, unsubstantiated innuendo.
If all this weren&#8217;t audacious enough, Obama also blamed Trump for every single COVID death — as if heads of state can eradicate the coronavirus with a magic wand or cruise missile. To the contrary, Trump has been on this problem from the beginning, and we must emphasize that he has rigorously followed the advice of his medical team, Democratic sweethearts Drs. Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx. Critics can&#8217;t have it both ways. If Trump was wrong, they were wrong. Also, beyond mostly following their medical advice, Trump aggressively tackled COVID at the federal level, utilizing his private-sector executive expertise to design a plan to postpone the spread of the virus; and marshaling public and private resources to develop testing and fast-track the development of vaccines and therapeutic treatments.
Obama&#8217;s most surreal claim was that Trump has caused the economic problems brought on by the virus. From the start, Trump has been urging America to get back to work, while Obama&#8217;s party has fought to keep America locked down.
On top of all this, Mr. Obama, President Trump has rescued this nation from your lead-from-behind foreign policy and restored us to a position of respect in the world.
Poor taste or not, Obama certainly has the right to use his undeserved stature to excoriate President Trump, but many of us would appreciate it if he didn&#8217;t insult us by masquerading as bipartisan in the process.

The self-billed &#8220;conservative opinion writer&#8221; of The Washington Post, Jennifer Rubin, is getting roundly mocked on social media for reportedly crying 15 to 20 times during the <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/media/513135-biden-draws-highest-tv-ratings-of-week-for-democratic-convention-but-down-from">low-rated</a> Democratic National Convention (DNC) this past week.
Rubin&#8217;s cry admission occurred when CNN contributor Amanda Carpenter asked peopled to reveal the number of times they felt the tears fall from their moistened eyes.
&#8220;I need an honest tally from all you who watched all four nights of the Dem convention telling me the number of times the programming made you cry. Go,&#8221; Carpenter tweeted.

Though Rubin allegedly found the DNC so exhilarating that she cried 20 or so times, the American people did not share her enthusiasm. According to <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/media/513135-biden-draws-highest-tv-ratings-of-week-for-democratic-convention-but-down-from">The Hill</a>, Joe Biden&#8217;s speech drew the most ratings during the convention, which was well below Hillary Clinton&#8217;s speech in 2016 and a full 38% lower than President Donald Trump&#8217;s acceptance speech in 2016:

Still, the initial numbers mark a 21 percent drop from Clinton&#8217;s speech at the convention in 2016, when she accepted the Democratic nomination that year. It is also more than 38 percent lower than <a class="rollover-people-link" href="https://thehill.com/people/donald-trump" data-nid="261287">President Trump</a>&#8216;s acceptance speech at the Republican convention four years ago, which drew 34.9 million viewers.</blockquote>
During his acceptance speech on Thursday night, Joe Biden said that he will repel the darkness that Trump has brought and bring the country back into the light.
“I give you my word: If you entrust me with the presidency. I will draw on the best of us, not the worst. I’ll be an ally of the light, not the darkness,” he said. “Love is more powerful than hate, hope is more powerful than fear, and light is more powerful than dark — this is our moment, this is our mission.”
“May history be able to say that the end of this chapter of American darkness began here, tonight, as love and hope and light join in the battle for the soul of the nation — and this is a battle we will win, and we’ll do it together,” he concluded.

WAPO ‘Conservative’ Columnist Jennifer Rubin Trolled After Claiming She Cried 15 To 20 Times Watching DNC

I was glued to my set during the Democratic National Convention this week. Believe me, if I hadn’t accidentally glued myself to the set, I wouldn’t have watched. Once there, though, I was mesmerized by a seemingly endless parade of horrible people telling me how immoral my country is.
They really were horrible, too. Kamala Harris with her long history of corruption. Bernie Sanders with that “I Heart Stalin” t-shirt I just know he keeps hidden at the bottom of his sock drawer. And, of course, the man who used to be Joe Biden, an indefinable nothing in the shape of a blue-collar Democrat, a living disguise for the party to wear so we won’t see them careening to the far-left.
But no one made a bigger impression on me than Bill Clinton. He is the perfect mascot for the Democrats: a lounge lizard who will say anything to get women to do what he wants.
Most Democrats are women. Most voters are women. And the Democrat Party, we are told, is the answer to the age-old question: “What do women want?”
And Donald Trump’s Republicans, we are told, are irredeemably — yuck — male. Feminist writer Amanda Marcotte put it this way in Salon: “The same ugly forces that drive the oppression of women also reverberate throughout our society. The man who preys on women, as Donald Trump has bragged about doing, is the same man whose sadism and lack of empathy will lead him to destroy the environment, terrorize immigrants, wreck the economy and let a pandemic run rampant.”

Let’s take a look at the Democrat history Bill Clinton represents.
According to reported records, Bill Clinton rode on the late sex slaver Jeffrey Epstein’s private jet, nicknamed the “Lolita Express,” at least 26 times. During at least five of those flights, reports claim, Clinton dumped his Secret Service detail. In recently unsealed records, Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre says she personally saw Clinton on Epstein’s private island in the company of two underage girls.
Clinton has also been plausibly accused of rape by Juanita Broadderick. And when he was the most powerful man in the world, he enticed a not-powerful intern young enough to be his daughter into an Oval Office affair: she gave him oral sex; he reportedly put a cigar inside her. Like many other feminists, writer Nina Burleigh approved, saying of Clinton, “I would be happy to give him a b****** just to thank him for keeping abortion legal.”
George Stephanopoulos worked for Clinton back then. There are videos of him on the phone intimidating reporters into suppressing women’s complaints about Clinton’s abusive sexual behavior. Stephanopoulos is now Chief Anchor and Political Correspondent for ABC News. In a video obtained by Project Veritas, ABC News host Amy Robach says she had the Epstein story as early as 2016, when Hillary Clinton was running for president. “It was unbelievable what we had. Clinton, we had everything,&#8221; Robach said. But, she said, ABC spiked the story.
It was NBC that spiked the story of now-convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein, according to Ronan Farrow in his book “Catch and Kill.” Weinstein, of course, was a huge Democrat donor, contributing to the campaigns of both Clintons, Kamala Harris, and Barack Obama. Michelle Obama called Harvey “a wonderful human being,” and “a good friend.”
If Farrow’s highly plausible account is correct, NBC News spiked the Weinstein story while it was covering up the predations of their star anchorman Matt Lauer. Among other things, Lauer is accused of assaulting one young network staffer until she passed out, and of sodomizing a co-worker while she cried and begged him not to.
It was also NBC News that allegedly held on to the notorious Hollywood Access tape in which Trump made lewd remarks. Then they released the tape when it would do the most political damage. Democrat women reacted to the tape with nationwide marches.
Democrat women also reacted with tearful protests and endless op-eds when Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was accused of sexual malfeasance by a woman who could offer no proof she had ever met him. But when Biden aide Tara Reade claimed Biden had digitally raped her, The New York Times said nothing for more than two weeks, then dismissed Reade’s account on an inside page of the paper’s Easter Sunday edition. The story remains largely uncovered.
In other words, ladies, you are being played — played as badly as blacks are being played by the party that brought them Detroit, Baltimore, and every other city where blacks languish in urban blight.
Amanda Marcotte notwithstanding, it isn’t some dark masculine force that abuses women and mars the world. It’s corrupt people and bad policy.
The Democrat Party is the party of both.

KLAVAN: Ladies, You Are Being Played

At the conclusion of the final night of the 2020 Democratic convention, Actress Rose McGowan blasted the Democratic Party, accusing them as a whole of never achieving anything for the interest groups they purportedly claim to help. 
The brief rant started when she tagged Democratic nominee Joe Biden and the DNC in a tweet, in which she said “You are monsters. You are frauds. You are the lie,” amidst Biden’s convention promise to be “an ally of the light, not the darkness.”

After other Twitter users started to criticize her anti-Democratic Party messages — including one person who dismissed her as a “white feminist” — she retorted that she’s not a feminist and “if you can’t see that I’m dragging everyone to force them to be better &amp; hold them accountable then you are delusional.”

Earlier this week, McGowan shared an article from the New York Post drawing attention to the fact that former President Bill Clinton was speaking at the convention. Clinton’s appearance was widely criticized online as bizarre. 
Fox News co-host Jedediah Bila tweeted: “The fact that Bill Clinton is still invited to speak post-#MeToo movement is a joke. Democrats who approve of this, never ever lecture anyone on female empowerment ever again. Ever.”
