Squad member Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) will not primary challenge Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) in the 2026 election. She is instead opting to run for re-election to her current seat.
“Hearing from so many people from throughout our Commonwealth encouraging me to run for the United States Senate was deeply humbling and a testament to the strength of our movement,” Pressley <a href="https://x.com/AyannaPressley/status/1995949427249610967">posted to X</a> in a statement on Tuesday.
“It would be an honor to serve the whole Commonwealth-but with our daughter in her last year at home before college and a district that has been in the crosshairs of this White House, I am certain that the Massachusetts 7th is where I belong in this moment,” she continued.

The only major primary challenger to Markey next year for the seat is now Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA).
The move comes as the Democratic Party is at a political crossroads in terms of both the age and ideology of candidates it runs. The congresswoman is 51 years old, and Markey is 79. Moulton is even younger at 47, and he’s been an advocate for having different Democratic leadership in the Senate besides Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
&#8220;Tonight is another example of why we need new leadership. If [Schumer] were an effective leader, he would have united his caucus to vote ‘No’ tonight and hold the line on healthcare. Maybe now [Markey] will finally join me in pledging not to vote for Schumer?&#8221; Moulton posted to X on November 9 when a handful of Senate Democrats voted with Republicans to take steps toward reopening the federal government.
As for Pressley, she is one of the original four members of the far-left “Squad,” which started with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Pressley, who all took office in 2019.
The debate has manifested most notably when President Joe Biden was swapped out for Vice President Kamala Harris as the 2024 presidential nominee. However, it is also showing up in other places, including the Maine Senate primary between 41-year-old veteran Graham Platner and 77-year-old Gov. Janet Mills.
“Congresswoman Pressley is a powerful fighter for working families and a national leader for her work in Congress,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) posted in response to Pressley’s announcement.
“No one fights harder than [Ayanna Pressley], and she will continue to be a strong, effective voice for Massachusetts,” she added. If Warren opts for re-election, it would not be until 2030, which is the year she turns 81.
Markey’s seat is rated as “Solid Democrat” by the Cook Political Report.

A super PAC backing former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo ran a late attack ad portraying Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani standing in front of the Twin Towers as they crashed to the ground on 9/11.
The For Our City ad opens with left-wing streamer Hasan Piker, who had brought Mamdani on as a guest, saying &#8220;Americans deserve 9/11&#8221; while the World Trade Center burst into flames, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/-andrew-cuomo-super-pac-depicts-zohran-mamdani-front-twin-towers-attac-rcna241651" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to NBC News. Piker has also referred to Jews as “inbred,&#8221; according to <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/10/23/andrew-cuomo-suggests-mamdani-would-cheer-future-terror-attack-00620620" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Politico</a>.
&#8220;That&#8217;s Zohran&#8217;s buddy, Hasan Piker, saying we deserve 9/11. It&#8217;s a disgrace to every life lost,&#8221; the narrator says in the ad.
&#8220;Zohran went on Piker&#8217;s show, and now Piker was just spotted at Zohran&#8217;s event. Mamdani is wrong for New York,&#8221; they add.

Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist, received backlash for appearing on Piker&#8217;s stream in April.
He later condemned Piker&#8217;s problematic comments, calling them &#8220;objectionable and reprehensible.”
&#8220;I also think that part of the reason why Democrats are in the situation that we are in, of being a permanent minority in this country, is we are looking only to speak to journalists and streamers and Americans with whom we agree [on] every single thing that they say,&#8221; he said.
Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg gave For Our City $3.5 million last month and is one of the super PAC&#8217;s biggest donors, according to NBC News.
Mamdani recently faced criticism for focusing a speech about 9/11 on Islamophobia.
“I want to use this moment to speak to the Muslims of New York City,” Mamdani proclaimed at the time. “I want to speak to the memory of my aunt, who stopped taking the subway after September 11 because she did not feel safe in her hijab.”
Cuomo later suggested that Mamdani would celebrate 9/11 if the attacks happened today.
“Can you imagine Mamdani in the seat?” Cuomo asked during an appearance on WABC.
“Yeah, I could,” host Sid Rosenberg replied. “He’d be cheering.”
“That’s another problem,” Cuomo said.
Mamdani later railed against Cuomo, calling his comments &#8220;disgusting.&#8221;
&#8220;This is Andrew Cuomo’s final moments in public life, and he’s choosing to spend them making racist attacks on the person who would be the first Muslim to lead this city,&#8221; Mamdani said during an interview with PIX 11.
“There are more than 1 million Muslims who live in New York City, and to have our faith be smeared and slandered by someone who at one point was considered a leader in the Democratic Party showcases the fact that bigotry and racism is not exclusively a Republican problem. It is also a problem within our own party,” Mamdani said. “It is time that we turned the page on Andrew Cuomo and on those that would tolerate this rhetoric from him.”

&#8220;The healthcare is going up anyway because the ‘Big Beautiful Bill&#8217; didn&#8217;t include the extension of the tax credits to keep the cost down. So, if it&#8217;s going up anyway, what&#8217;s the point of continuing to take a stand for people&#8217;s healthcare not to go up?&#8221; he said during Monday’s episode of “The Breakfast Club.&#8221;
Contributor Mimi Brown agreed, mentioning that people have already received information from healthcare providers about their revised premiums because open enrollment has already occurred.

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) also took a stand against his party this week, saying the Democrats need to “own the shutdown” as the government closure drags on into its second month.
Fetterman expressed his frustration that tens of millions of Americans are losing their SNAP benefits, calling it “one of the big reasons” why he broke from his party.
“And again, I feel like the Democrats really need to own the shutdown. WASHINGTON — The White House and its allies are circling Chuck Schumer&#8217;s wagon, and he&#8217;s not making it that hard for them.
&#8220;Every day gets better for us,&#8221; Schumer <a href="https://punchbowl.news/article/senate/schumer-dems-momentum/">said in an interview with Punchbowl News</a>. “It’s because we’ve thought about this long in advance, and we knew that health care would be the focal point on Sept. 30, and we prepared for it&#8230;Their whole theory was — threaten us, bamboozle us, and we would submit in a day or two.”
That first line was yet another messaging gem for Republicans who have argued that Democrats do not care about whether the shutdown is hurting Americans, and he drew criticism from not only Vice President JD Vance and a slew of other angry Republicans, but also the president himself.
&#8220;Better for Schumer. Worse for Americans,&#8221; posted Vance on Thursday morning. &#8220;What a vile sentiment from an alleged leader in our country.&#8221;
&#8220;Chuck Schumer proclaimed this morning that every day gets better for them,&#8221; Trump said during today&#8217;s cabinet meeting. &#8220;No, it&#8217;s actually getting worse for them. &#8230; This is a confession that he&#8217;s acting not to serve the people, but to serve the partisan interests of his party.&#8221;
The White House put out messaging promptly on Thursday morning arguing that the &#8220;disgusting claim&#8221; is a &#8220;sickening display of elitist indifference&#8221; as the shutdown &#8220;plunges hardworking Americans into anxiety, despair, and financial ruin.&#8221;
&#8220;His arrogance lays bare the Democrats’ sick betrayal of service members missing paychecks, families turning to food pantries to survive, small businesses teetering on the brink, and travelers facing excruciating delays,&#8221; the White House argued.

“Definitely terrifying thinking in my head, ‘Oh God, how are we going to pay for our bills? How are we going to afford our rent? How are we going to pay for her formula, her diapers, everything?’&#8221; said an unnamed military spouse, cited by the White House, whose family is reportedly in crisis as service members go without pay. &#8220;Our military, they’re the ones that sign the government contract to go fight for our country. But our lawmakers who are supposed to be in charge of our country, they aren’t really doing what’s best for the American people.”
The White House messaging also quoted an air traffic controller who must continue fulfilling his job responsibilities without knowing whether he will get his next paycheck: “The financial anxiety doesn’t just hurt morale; it directly affects safety. When someone responsible for thousands of lives a day is worrying about whether they can pay rent or feed their kids, focus suffers. Sometimes that small moment where your mind is elsewhere can have serious impacts. Controllers were already underwater with pay and staffing before the shutdown. Now, we’re drowning.”

The bottom line, the White House argues, is that Americans want the &#8220;Democrat shutdown to end,&#8221; and they &#8220;know Democrats are to blame.&#8221;
&#8220;While federal workers stress over missed paychecks, military families turn to food pantries, and airports around the country face delays — Chuck Schumer and the Democrats are bragging that &#8216;every day gets better&#8217; for them,&#8221; wrote Karoline Leavitt in a scathing post on X. &#8220;What a disgusting and revealing statement.  Democrats are gleeful about inflicting pain on the American people.&#8221;
Schumer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The president also argued during his cabinet meeting that Schumer knows he is in deep political trouble, potentially facing an ouster from Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, who continues to assert herself as a leader in the shutdown fight.

In a fundraising email sent on the anniversary of Hamas&#8217; October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed made no mention of the terror group&#8217;s atrocities and blamed Israel for launching &#8220;a ground invasion of Gaza.&#8221;
The email — posted by POLITICO&#8217;s Congressional reporter, Nicholas Wu — was sent on Tuesday as Israel and the United States <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-remembers-october-7-most-brutal-terrorist-attack-in-israels-history">remembered</a> the 1,200 lives lost when Hamas terrorists crossed the Israeli border and killed men, women, and children. The email sent out by El-Sayed&#8217;s campaign began, &#8220;Two years ago this month, Netanyahu&#8217;s military launched a ground invasion of Gaza. Since then, the world has watched tragedy unfold in real time.&#8221;
The email then went on to condemn Israel&#8217;s military strikes in Gaza and accused the pro-Israel lobbying group, AIPAC, of influencing politicians to &#8220;add fuel to the fire.&#8221; El-Sayed also accused AIPAC of &#8220;meddling with our race here in Michigan&#8221; because he &#8220;is one of AIPAC&#8217;s top targets to defeat.&#8221;

El-Sayed&#8217;s campaign told POLITICO that the email was sent on Tuesday by mistake.
&#8220;Abdul has been clear and consistent: he holds equally valuable the lives of all innocent people and condemns violence against them,” a spokeswoman for the Democratic candidate said.
El-Sayed also released a <a href="https://x.com/AbdulElSayed/status/1975554653476831707">statement</a> on the 2nd anniversary of Hamas&#8217; assault on Israel where he condemned Hamas for the &#8220;heinous attack,&#8221; but then accused Israel of committing &#8220;genocide.&#8221;

El-Sayed is a doctor and former health director who&#8217;s running to replace outgoing Michigan Democratic Senator Gary Peters. The Michigan doctor came in second place behind Governor Gretchen Whitmer in the 2018 Democratic gubernatorial primary. El-Sayed has been endorsed by Democratic socialist Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and California Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna.
Earlier this year, El-Sayed spoke at an event alongside Hamas sympathizers, including one activist who expressed &#8220;euphoria&#8221; over the terror group&#8217;s October 7, 2023, attack, The Washington Free Beacon <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/michigan-senate-candidate-backed-by-bernie-sanders-to-speak-at-islamist-convention-alongside-hamas-sympathizers/">reported</a>.
El-Sayed is running against Democratic Michigan state Senator Mallory McMorrow and Democratic U.S. Congresswoman Haley Stevens. McMorrow has recently taken a more anti-Israel stance on the war in Gaza, while Stevens has voiced pro-Israel views in the past and has been backed by AIPAC.
Democrats have maintained control of both Michigan U.S. Senate seats since 2001. Republican Mike Rogers, who lost to Sen. Elissa Slotkin in the 2024 election, is running for Senate again and appears to be the GOP&#8217;s best chance at winning the seat in 2026.

Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) used the assassination of conservative commentator and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk as an opportunity to complain about &#8220;right-wing extremists&#8221; and blame them for political violence in the United States.

Moulton claimed that the bipartisan sentiment in Congress was an agreement that &#8220;we all need to turn down the rhetoric,&#8221; but then he pivoted. &#8220;But let&#8217;s be serious about where the violence is coming from. Of extremist violent attacks in America, extremist violent murders, 76% are from right-wing extremists, four percent are from left-wing extremists.&#8221;
&#8220;I condemn that four percent,&#8221; he assured host Kate Bolduan, adding, &#8220;But we also need to be honest about — as a nation — about where this violence is coming from.&#8221;
He concluded by once again attacking conservatives and claiming that they were responding to recent shootings by calling for more guns in the streets.
&#8220;And oh, by the way, it&#8217;s probably an appropriate time to talk about guns, too,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You hear a lot of conservatives saying, hey, the only thing we need to do here is get more guns on the street. That&#8217;s not going to solve this problem. That&#8217;s just going to make it worse.&#8221;
Moulton did not give any evidence that conservatives were actually calling for &#8220;more guns on the street,&#8221; nor did he offer even a hint at who might have said such a thing.

One MSNBC guest claimed on Saturday that calls for prayer after the tragic school shooting that unfolded just days earlier were &#8220;a form of idolatry&#8221; and &#8220;theological malpractice,&#8221; arguing that unless people were also willing to go after gun manufacturers, their prayers meant nothing.
Tennessee State Rep. Justin Jones, a Democrat, joined MSNBC host Ali Velshi to discuss the shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, MN — and he blamed Republican lawmakers and guns for the tragic shooting.

After a brief discussion about the potential role played by violent video games, Velshi pivoted to blame the guns. &#8220;There are people who play video games all over the world, and nobody has the problem the way we have it in the United States. So it might actually be about the guns.&#8221;
&#8220;I mean, that’s exactly it. And, you know, I want to take it a step further and say that — I want to bring theology into this because you have all these people who want to give thoughts and prayers after a shooting, but I was a minister and that is a form of theological malpractice,&#8221; Jones cut straight to the point. &#8220;When you pray for something that you have the power to change — there’s an African proverb that says, when you pray, you move your hands and feet. You know, what we’re seeing is a form of idolatry, where we’re willing to worship the lives of our children to appease the prophets of the gun industry.&#8221;
Jones went on to attack Republicans over a Tennessee law, saying, &#8220;After the mass shooting at the Covenant School, the only law Republicans passed that year was to protect gun manufacturers from litigation. That’s what they did after children were killed in a school. It is cruel, it is shameful, it’s immoral, and it is something that is going to be a dark stain on American history, that we’ve allowed this to go on for so long unchallenged. And we have the power to change things.&#8221;
&#8220;And I would say to my colleagues who serve in government bodies, that we —Keep your thoughts and prayers, keep your tweets,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;If you wanna address gun violence, you don’t need a tweet, what you need is a mirror. You have the power to change things. You have the power to take action. Now is the time, until it’s your child, because sooner or later it’s gonna hit home. And then it’ll be too late.&#8221;
Other Democrats — from former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki to Minneapolis Mayor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/minneapolis-mayor-trashes-people-for-offering-thoughts-and-prayers-after-shooting">Jacob Frey</a> — took a similar tone after the shooting, arguing that calls for prayer were empty without gun control measures.
Press Secretary <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/karoline-leavitt-destroys-jen-psaki-for-mocking-the-power-of-prayer">Karoline Leavitt</a> pushed back, saying that such criticisms were demeaning to the millions of Americans who believe in the power of prayer — and a number pointed out that Republicans have proposed solutions to gun violence that would make schools harder targets, but that Democrats have repeatedly made it clear they will not consider such ideas.

Republican strategist Brad Todd laid out in detail the errors made during the 2020 census that disproportionately hurt Republicans — and helped Democrats.
Todd joined CNN anchor Kate Bolduan on &#8220;CNN News Central&#8221; to discuss the issue on Thursday, and he argued that a number of the U.S. Census Bureau population miscounts had dramatically skewed in favor of Democrats in multiple states across the country.

&#8220;Do we know that?&#8221; she asked.
&#8220;We do know that. The Census Bureau’s own audit of its work has proven that,&#8221; Todd shot back. &#8220;Blue states like Rhode Island were overcounted. Rhode Island then didn’t lose a seat. Red states like Alabama were undercounted. This is just a fact. It wasn’t all red-blue, but it was disproportionately red-blue.&#8221;
The U.S. Census Bureau’s 2020 Post-Enumeration Survey found that of the 14 states that were miscounted, five out of the six undercounted states were red states, and five of the eight over-counted states were blue states, per <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2022/05/19/census-bureau-2020-undercount-overcount-miscount-electoral-college/">The Daily Caller</a> in 2022. Delaware, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Utah were reportedly among those that were overcounted. The undercounted states included Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas.
Todd&#8217;s comments come on the heels of President Donald Trump&#8217;s call for a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-says-illegal-immigrants-will-not-be-counted-in-the-next-census">new census</a> that will not include illegal immigrants in the final counts. Trump faced a number of legal challenges when he attempted to take similar changes to the census process during his first term as president, but has signaled he plans to try again in the near future.

A New York City Republican councilwoman who serves as the body&#8217;s minority whip said Jewish residents are “petrified” that Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani will win the election in November.
Inna Vernikov, who is Jewish and flipped District 48 in Brooklyn from Democrat to Republican for the first time in 2021, spoke to Fox News Digital.
 “This is a guy who wants to globalize the intifada,” she asserted. “We&#8217;ve never seen anything close to this in New York City. We have the largest Jewish population in America, and I&#8217;ll tell you: Jews are telling me they&#8217;re going to run away from New York City. And Jews have contributed a lot to the city and to this country, and the idea that they are now afraid to live here? It&#8217;s unacceptable and unprecedented really, this has never happened here.&#8221;
“New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani on Sunday again declined to condemn the phrase ‘globalize the intifada,’” Politico <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/06/29/zohran-mamdani-globalize-the-intifada-00432052">reported</a> on June 29.
“Is there going to be an Israel Day parade?” Vernikov asked. “This guy despises Israel. He’s also quite antisemitic. To say that he’s okay with globalizing the intifada? The intifada is a call for violence. We’ve seen what happened during two intifadas; people who were murdered; innocent people lost their lives. It’s dangerous; he’s going to not just allow, he’s going to encourage these violent riots that we’ve seen across the country. People are petrified, and they’re going to leave.”
“I&#8217;m curious, I have a question,” Vernikov said. “If this Democratic nominee would be like a KKK member or would call for annihilation of the black community, would they still, you know, come behind him as hard as they are now? I would think that the answer would be no, but when it comes to the Jews, that&#8217;s okay.”
“So it&#8217;s really hypocritical, unacceptable, and disgusting, and they&#8217;ve been endorsing him one by one,” she noted. “While Republicans are fighting antisemitism on behalf of Jewish Americans every day, the Democrats are supporting an antisemite.”
Mamdani has been endorsed by Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and has received congratulations from Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY). He founded Bowdoin College’s chapter of the virulently anti-Israel group Students for Justice in Palestine. In 2021, he <a href="https://x.com/JCAndersonNYC/status/1923767167062864350">led a rally</a> to chant in favor of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement that seeks to isolate the state of Israel. His father, Mahmood, a professor at Columbia University, has championed a “third intifada.”
The First Palestinian Intifada lasted from 1987 to 1990, and the Second Intifada from 2000 to 2005.
According to the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Institute_for_Counter-Terrorism">International Institute for Counter-Terrorism</a>, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilian_casualties_in_the_Second_Intifada">during</a> the Second Intifada, 887 of the 1,137 Israelis killed in attacks were civilians.
Just between May 2001 and May 2002, prior to the bombing at Hebrew University, there were these massacres: five Israelis murdered by a suicide bomber at the HaSharon Mall in May 2001; 21 Israelis murdered by a suicide bomber at the Dolphinarium Discotheque in June 2001; 15 Israelis murdered by a suicide bomber at Sbarro’s Pizza in August 2001, including six children and a 31-year-old woman who was the only child of her parents and was five months pregnant; 11 Israelis murdered in a bus bombing on Ben Yehuda Street in Jerusalem on December 1, 2001; 15 more Israelis murdered the very next day in a Haifa suicide bombing; 11 more Israelis murdered in a bus attack 10 days later in Immanuel; six Israelis murdered in an attack at a bat-mitzvah in January 2002; 11 more Jews killed in an attack on a yeshiva in March 2002, including a five-month-old child; 11 Jews murdered in a bombing at Café Moment in March 2002; 30 Israelis killed as they celebrated Passover in Netanya on March 27, 2002; 16 Israelis murdered in a suicide bombing four days later at the Matza restaurant, and 16 Israelis murdered in Rishon LeZion in May 2002.

Many of us fondly remember the days when late-night talk show hosts like Johnny Carson and Jay Leno came into our living rooms every night with one goal in mind: to entertain as many people as possible through laughter.
But with the rise of Donald Trump, late-night comedy shows morphed into nightly attacks on the man over 77 million Americans sent to the White House. Every evening for years now, Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel subjected their audiences to non-stop Trump bashing.
It’s vicious, relentless, and, worst of all, not funny.
These “comics” came to view their platforms not as vehicles to entertain a broad spectrum of the American public, but rather a podium from which to blast out their ultra-left politics and Stage 4 Trump Derangement, while cloaking themselves in obnoxiously self-righteous sanctimony along the way.
As anyone who suffered through their childishly acrimonious monologues could attest, if you hated Trump in particular, or anyone to the right of Che Guevara in general, you found comfort in the acid bath of antipathy that came spewing from your screen courtesy of hosts who we were told were comics.
But things might be changing.
Last week, Colbert announced that CBS had cancelled his show, and that they would not replace him. One imagines that Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Seth Meyers — none of whom are bringing in audiences — will be canned imminently.
Many have met the demise of Colbert — a man whose idea of comedy was dancing hypodermic needles to push a government narrative in a manner that would make Pravda blush — marks the end of late-night talk shows as a whole. But are they really dead? Or is it just the DNC propaganda machine version of these shows bound for extinction?
As I <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-sad-politicization-of-late-night-television" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> a while back while lamenting the death of the genuine late-night comedy of Carson — whose last show in May 1992 was watched by an astounding 50 million Americans — several times over the years I did make a sincere effort to watch Colbert or Kimmel.
They were funny on The Daily Show and The Man Show respectively. And I’m willing to be entertained by a truly funny Trump joke. But the level of sheer vitriol and ugliness masquerading as humor on these shows made them impossible to watch. So did the monotony: late night hosts just kept coming at the guy, one Trump assault after another after another. On Colbert one night I literally counted five Trump “jokes” in a row in the opening monologue before I finally had to turn him off. Not because it offended my politics, or my feelings. But rather because it failed to make me laugh. Why else would anyone tune in?
For example, a recent Colbert monologue about Trump sending in the National Guard to quell anti-ICE street violence in California featured the following:
“What’s going on in LA reminds us that it is crucial to speak out against Trump’s fascist impulses, his rampant corruption, and his egregious violations of our norms and our laws…The last time a president bypassed a governor to send in the National Guard was 1965 when LBJ used troops to protect civil rights demonstrators in Alabama. So, we’ve come full circle. Troops were used to protect protesters by Lyndon B. Johnson. Now they’re being used to harass protesters by Donald B. D***.”
Crickets. Cough. Scraping chair leg.
Who needs to tune in to a DNC stump speech after a long day at work? What normal American wants to be subjected to an obsequious Colbert slobbering over guest Adam Schiff while the serial liar looks at the camera and says in his toughest beta male milquetoast persona: “Donald, piss off”? Hmmm. Maybe I’ll just read a few pages of a book before I turn in.
Hang on to your seat, because the laughs just kept on coming.
Consider such comedy gold as his declaring that the Iran strike didn’t take out all their centrifuges, whether true or not. Colbert said it was “less Operation Midnight Hammer and more Operation M.C. Hammer.” Huh? That barely makes sense, let alone makes people laugh. This is the best his team of 24 writers could come up with?
Despite the predictable howls from the usual suspects — for whom late-night hosts are the pharmacies for their daily dose of TDS — Colbert was not fired because he criticized Trump. It was really just a matter of dollars and cents.
Colbert attracts 2.2 million viewers on average; Kimmel 1.7 million; Fallon, just 1.19 million. Colbert and Kimmel average just over 200,000 in the key demographic of viewers 25-54.
Tellingly, these represent just 60% of numbers put up by the Fox Network’s late-night competitor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/greg-gutfeld-the-new-undisputed-king-of-late-night" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Greg Gutfeld Show</a>.
And then there’s production budgets, really the heart of the matter. Colbert’s show costs more than $100 million a year to produce, including Colbert’s $15 million salary. The problem for Colbert is that his show only brings in roughly $60 million in annual ad revenue.
Megyn Kelly, a former Fox TV host herself, estimates that Gutfeld’s budget for his successful forum is around $10 million. This doesn’t include his salary; the last numbers I saw shows Fox pays their unsung late-night star $7 million annually.
So, even if the total cost of the Greg Gutfeld Show is around $20 million, that’s still a fraction of the cost of legacy media’s failing late-night offerings. Which means there is still a way to make the late night format profitable.
Like its rivals, The Greg Gutfeld Show is certainly political in nature. Gutfeld isn’t Carson, and conservatives will likely feel more at home with Gutfeld and his rotating panel of conservative hosts. But unlike the other shows, Gutfeld is also entertaining, light-hearted, self-effacing, and, most importantly, funny.
In a way, Colbert’s demise is an apt metaphor for the sinking fortunes of the Democrat Party itself. You cannot alienate so many in a market without someone else seeing the opportunity your disregard presents while you steadily lose viewers, and influence. Whether one loves or hates Fox, they have a winning late-night formula that the mainstream media has abandoned by prioritizing divisive politics over entertainment.
Mike Wallace once asked Johnny Carson why he never got into serious subjects. Carson’s response is worth remembering:
<blockquote>“That’s not what I’m there for. Can’t they see that? Why do they think that just because you have a Tonight Show that you must deal in serious issues? That’s a danger. That’s a real danger. Once you start that, you start to get that self-important feeling that what you say has great import. And, you know, strangely enough, you could use that show as a forum, you could sway people. And I don’t think you should, as an entertainer.”</blockquote>
The legacy media should take Johnny’s advice. If they choose to go down the self-destructive path forged by Colbert and his ilk, then good riddance.

“I worked until January, and then I took time away from my job, and one of the major reasons I could do so was because I knew that if I ran out of my savings, my family would be able to support me,” he stated.

Mamdani’s father is a hard-Left professor at Columbia University, and his mother is a successful filmmaker who once owned a $2 million Chelsea loft in New York City, according to the <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/07/03/real-estate/as-mamdani-targets-nycs-wealthy-in-tax-plan-spotlight-turns-to-mothers-2m-chelsea-loft/">New York Post</a>. “Mamdani attended <a title="https://www.westsiderag.com/2025/03/26/before-zohran-mamdani-made-waves-in-nycs-mayoral-race-he-was-a-kid-growing-up-on-the-uws" href="https://www.westsiderag.com/2025/03/26/before-zohran-mamdani-made-waves-in-nycs-mayoral-race-he-was-a-kid-growing-up-on-the-uws" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bank Street, a prestigious Manhattan private school</a> that now costs as much as $66,000 a year for elementary school students, before graduating from the Bronx High School of Science, one of the city’s best public schools. Mamdani’s own job history is sketchy, to put it mildly. “Mr. Mamdani’s résumé is comparatively slight,” The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/10/nyregion/mamdani-age-mayor-young.html">reported.</a> “The son of a renowned filmmaker and academic, he bounced among gigs — working on one of his mother’s movies, as a rapper, a campaign organizer, a part-time tutor and a foreclosure counselor — before winning a seat in the Assembly in 2020.”
