University of Colorado football coach Deion Sanders announced on Monday that he had been diagnosed with bladder cancer — and that he had undergone a successful surgery to remove the tumor.
Sanders gave a <a href="https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/45843439/colorado-coach-deion-sanders-said-battled-bladder-cancer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press conference</a> at the Touchdown Club in the Dal Ward Athletic Center on Monday to update the public on his health, and urged everyone to &#8220;get checked out.&#8221; Sanders appeared alongside Dr. Janet Kukreja, director of urological oncology at University of Colorado Cancer Center, to make the announcement and take questions.
Kukreja began by touting the success of the surgery, saying that Sanders had been declared &#8220;cancer free&#8221; after the surgery was completed. &#8220;The results from the surgery are that he is cured from the cancer.&#8221;
After a brief pause, Sanders quipped, &#8220;You can clap, it&#8217;s ok.&#8221;
The audience laughed and applauded.

&#8220;It was dynamic. It was tough. It wasn&#8217;t a cakewalk. It wasn&#8217;t easy. That was a fight, but we made it,&#8221; Sanders said, adding, &#8220;You have no idea how good God has been to me.&#8221;
Questions have swirled about Sanders and his health since his son, Deion Sanders Jr., posted a video over the summer in which he could be heard talking about a &#8220;health issue&#8221; he was dealing with: &#8220;I ain&#8217;t all the way recovered.&#8221;
He opted not to address any health-related questions at Big 12 Media Days, further fueling speculation about his condition.
Sanders said on Monday that throughout the ordeal, he has also lost 25 pounds — but that he was ready to return to coaching for the 2025-2026 season.
He followed with a message to the crowd, calling on them to &#8220;get checked out.&#8221;

Collective cries of anguish echoed through the heavens this past weekend. You may have heard the sound. It was the sound of trauma. Of heartbreak. Of great moral outrage. It was the sound of the Left-wing hacks in sports media reacting to Shedeur Sanders, the son of former NFL star Deion Sanders, being drafted into the the NFL a little bit later than most people expected.
For some background and context, Shedeur Sanders is a quarterback who played for The University of Colorado where his dad, Deion Sanders, is the head coach. For months, most analysts projected that he would be selected in the first round of the NFL draft, which began on Thursday and ran for three days and seven total rounds. But the prognosticators in sports media are about as credible, and have about as good a track record, as the political prognosticators in the news media. Which is to say they&#8217;re full of crap most of the time. So Shedeur was not drafted in the first or even second round. Instead he didn&#8217;t come off the board until the fifth round, when he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns — who selected a different quarterback, some other players, a water boy, a cheerleader, and a janitor before they finally got around to drafting Shedeur.
Why does any of this matter? Well, it doesn’t matter. But to the commentators in sports media, it was a national tragedy. Shedeur’s brief draft slide was ESPN’s 9-11. It was the NFL Network’s Pearl Harbor. They’ll never forget where they were when it happened. They were shell shocked. Dumbfounded. Grief stricken. 
Here are two very short clips that should give you a pretty good idea of how they were covering the news:

&#8220;It&#8217;s disgusting. I don’t get it. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s never happened before. I just want to reach out and give him a hug. This is such a tough time for him.&#8221;
To be clear, they aren’t talking about someone who survived a school shooting. They&#8217;re talking about an already wealthy and famous athlete who had to wait a day longer than expected to be drafted into the NFL and get paid millions of dollars to play football. This is like weeping in the street because a trust fund baby got the wrong color Ferrari for her sweet 16. Most of the human population would kill just for the chance to experience this kind of &#8220;disappointment.&#8221; But the sports media treated Shedeur like a holocaust survivor.
All of this would just be kind of funny and embarrassing but not worth discussing. After all, sports media embarrasses itself in some form pretty much every day. They embarrass themselves even more often than the news media, if you can believe it. But what makes this whole spectacle something worse, and perhaps more notable, is the reason why the sports media were so outraged.
They — very predictably — made it about race. It was decided that Shedeur Sanders fell in the draft because he&#8217;s black.

As an article in The Root put it in “<a href="https://www.theroot.com/i-am-a-leader-i-forge-my-own-path-shedeur-sanders-mak-1848432864" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Shedeur Sanders</a> not getting drafted in the first, second or third rounds of the NFL draft is like when that white cashier scrunches up her face and drops change in your hand instead of running the risk of touching you. Was she a racist Karen, or is that how she treats all customers? It’s a racism Rorschach test.”
Never mind the question of how else a cashier is supposed to transfer change from her hand to yours. What do you want her to do? Stroke your arm gently as she sensuously places one coin at a time into your palm? Personally I prefer that she just drop the change into my hand so we can both move on with our lives. But that’s how I interpret the “racism Rorschach test.” On the other hand, for the race hustlers, when it comes to the racism Rorschach test, the answer is always yes. And that’s why lots of commentators in sports media jumped in to make it about race. Here&#8217;s another brief highlight reel:

That was Ryan Clark, Emmanuel Acho, and Skip Bayless — three of the most prominent sports commentators in the country. All of them agree that this came down to race. Skip is practically in tears over it. Emmanuel says he was up all night “muling&#8221; about it, whatever the hell that&#8217;s supposed to mean. I assume the word he was reaching for was “mulling.” But the other thing about sports commentators is that they are, for the most part, fantastically stupid.
Stephen A Smith was also outraged. He was tweeting in a frantic hysteria all weekend, repeatedly invoking Colin Kaepernick and alleging that there was &#8220;collusion&#8221; at play, just as there was, allegedly, to keep Kaepernick out of the league.
And it wasn&#8217;t just sports commentators. Jamaal Bowman, the former congressman famous only for pulling a fire alarm, put out a video on Saturday claiming that Shedeur’s fate is more evidence that &#8220;America continues to fear strong black men.” 
He also said this:

Now, given that I have an audience of intelligent people — certainly more intelligent than Jamaal Bowman, who has the approximate IQ of a rubber spatula — I probably don&#8217;t need to explain that these racism complaints are totally asinine.
If you think that Shedeur wasn’t drafted in the first round because he&#8217;s black, you’ll have to explain why the guy selected number one overall is black. Also the guy selected number two is black. So was the guy selected number three. So was the guy selected number six, number seven, number eight, number nine, eleven, twelve, thirteen, and so on. There were 32 selections in the first round. All but five of them were black. And this ratio held up through the entire draft, just as it did in last year&#8217;s draft, and the year before that, and before that, and before that, for decades. Which is why only 25% of the players in the NFL are white. All of the rest are black, or some other racial minority.
The vast majority of NFL players are black. The vast majority of the biggest stars are black. The highest paid player in the league is black.
So where is the racism coming into play? Is it that black players are held to a higher standard? Are black players scrutinized and penalized and criticized more? No, definitely not. Deshaun Watson — a black quarterback — was credibly accused of sexual assault by over 20 women and yet was still given the richest contract in league history after all of these accusations were made public. There are black players in the league who have been involved in all manner of scandals and crimes and alleged crimes. The Baltimore Ravens selected a player in the second round of this year’s draft who was accused of rape in high school and college. He’s also black. But they needed an edge rusher, and the kid has talent, so they overlooked the rape stuff. That&#8217;s how NFL teams operate. They don&#8217;t care about the color of your skin or crimes on your rap sheet. They only care if you can help them win games. Winning is the only thing that matters. The Ravens most legendary player of all time, a black man, was charged with double murder. A year later he won Super Bowl MVP. Nothing matters in football but winning. Which is what I love about football, actually. It&#8217;s the ultimate meritocracy.
Shedeur suffered his tragic drop, for which all of humanity weeps and the heavens cry out for justice, because he&#8217;s not a great prospect. He&#8217;s a pretty good prospect, but not great. He’s not as talented as a lot of the guys who went before him. Also, to make matters much worse, he’s a high maintenance diva with an ego bigger than any room he walks into. According to lots of reports, that&#8217;s exactly how he came across in his pre-draft interviews with various teams. This is a guy who had a room custom built just for the draft night broadcast with the word “legendary” painted all over the walls. He hosted a draft party where he performed some rap songs — apparently he moonlights as a rapper — and walked around with a giant brief case full of cash.

At the NFL scouting combine, he said he doesn’t even need to explain why an NFL team should draft him. 
There&#8217;s no question that Shedeur deserves it, according to Shedeur. Listen:

If you aren&#8217;t ready to change your culture, don&#8217;t draft him. That was his message to teams considering drafting him. A message that was apparently heard loud and clear.
This is, of course, the opposite of what you want to say in a job interview. Employers are looking for candidates who will fit their workplace culture, not candidates who demand that the culture change for them. Imagine walking into an interview and saying, &#8220;Hey, if you hire me, I’m going to need you to change your whole culture and the entire way that you do business. That&#8217;s how special I am.” That’s a surefire recipe for getting laughed out of the room. The only real mystery here is how this jackass managed to find any team dumb and desperate enough to draft him. But it’s Cleveland we&#8217;re talking about. Dumb and desperate is their brand. It turns out they actually won&#8217;t have to change their culture at all.
In any case, in this story we find the real tragedy of the Left-wing race hustle. We find what really makes it so harmful. Which is that it constantly destroys opportunities for much more productive conversations. So many teachable moments have been wasted over the past several years because the usual suspects injected their racial victimization narrative into it, completely derailing what could have otherwise been a useful discussion.
In this case we could have been talking about the value of humility. And we could use more conversations about humility, as it falls second only to chastity as the most underrated virtue of our time. Shedeur comes from a generation that has been thoroughly brainwashed into the religion of self-worship. And his dad is Deion Sanders, who is one of the prophets of that religion. But in the real world, you can only get away with being a narcissistic nightmare if you’re extremely talented and gifted — if the weight of your ego is still somehow outweighed by your skills. Even then, you’re only getting away with being a narcissist. It certainly isn&#8217;t helping you. And eventually, as your skills fade — as they will for everyone, no matter your line of work — this equation may not work out in your favor anymore. The thing about a narcissist is that their skills, their talents, their physical gifts — whatever it is that’s causing people to put up with their nonsense — won’t last forever. But narcissism, unchecked, will last forever. Or at least until death. In fact, it will probably even grow with age, like a tumor.
So the lesson is that, no matter how talented you are, it’s better to be humble. There are two kinds of people in this world, after all. The humble, and those who will be humbled. As Christ explains to us in the Beatitudes. Better to be in the first group than the second. That’s the lesson we could take from this. But instead we’re hearing again about racism. Because why talk about real issues, when you can talk about fake ones. If the media had a motto, that would be it.

Jax Ulbrich, the 21-year-old son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, has issued a formal apology for a prank call he made to Colorado Buffaloes quarterback prospect Shedeur Sanders on Friday during the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sanders is the son of Colorado coach and NFL legend Deion Sanders and made headlines over the weekend for his significant drop in the draft, from being projected as a potential first-round pick to being chosen in the fifth round. 
Ulbrich was able to find the football player&#8217;s phone number and orchestrated the prank call to Sanders claiming he had been selected by the New Orleans Saints, per <a href="https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2025/04/27/sport/son-of-atlanta-falcons-coach-apologizes-shedeur-sanders-prank-spt">CNN</a>.
Sanders was live-streaming his draft experience when he received a call from someone impersonating Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis. The caller said, “We’re going to take you with our next pick,” then added, “But you’re going to have to wait a little longer,” before abruptly hanging up and laughing. A recording of the call went viral on social media.

Jax Ulbrich admitted to accessing Sanders’ draft contact information from an open iPad at his parents&#8217; home and orchestrating the prank. He <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DI9oQO2Rdbl/">said</a> in his apology that his actions were “completely inexcusable, embarrassing, and shameful.” 
&#8220;I’m so sorry I took away from your moment, it was selfish and childish. I could never imagine getting ready to celebrate one of the greatest moments of your life and I made a terrible mistake and messed with that moment. Thank you for accepting my call earlier today, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me,” he said.
The Atlanta Falcons also released a statement confirming Jax&#8217;s involvement and clarifying that Jeff Ulbrich was not involved in the prank. The team apologized to Sanders and his family and pledged to review and update security protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future. ​
Sanders responded by calling the prank &#8220;childish.&#8221;  
“Nobody has that number but coaches, strictly for that reason,” he said. “Why get mad? They want you to have a certain type of reaction to it. They want you to feel bad. But I ain’t trippin.’”
Sanders was later selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round as the 144th overall pick.

Colorado Buffaloes head football coach Deion Sanders slammed the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award on Tuesday after it snubbed two-way Colorado star football player Travis Hunter from its finalist list.
Hunter, who starts at both wide receiver and cornerback for the 8-3 Buffaloes, is the heavy favorite to win the Heisman Trophy heading into the final weeks before the winner is announced on December 14. The latest odds in betting markets have Hunter at -1,000 — giving him an implied 90.9% chance of winning the most prestigious award in college football, according to BetMGM. The award is given to the most valuable player in college football every year.
The <a href="https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2025-nfl-mock-draft-three-quarterbacks-go-in-the-top-10-shedeur-sanders-new-york-giants">projected</a> No. 1 NFL Draft pick for next year was named as a finalist for multiple awards on Tuesday, including the Maxwell Award (for best all-around player), Biletnikoff Award (for best wide receiver), Bednarik Award (for best defensive player), Hornung Award (for most versatile player) and Walter Camp Award (for most outstanding player).
However, it was the one award for which Hunter was not a finalist that upset Sanders — who starred in the NFL and MLB at the same time.

If Hunter wins the Heisman Trophy, he will become only the second defensive player in history to win the award.
Michigan Wolverines cornerback Charles Woodson in 1997 was the only defensive player to win the Heisman.
However, there is a key difference between Woodson and Hunter. Woodson only played situationally on offense and started on defense, whereas Hunter starts on both sides of the ball and plays nearly every play in the game outside of special teams.
During Woodson&#8217;s Heisman year, he intercepted seven passes and made 43 tackles on defense while catching 11 passes for 231 yards and a receiving touchdown on offense. He also had 1 rushing touchdown.
So far in 2024, Hunter has intercepted three passes and deflected breakups — despite rarely being thrown at — and had a game-winning forced fumble on the goal line against Baylor. On offense, Hunter has 82 catches for 1,036 yards and 11 touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown.

Smith didn&#8217;t transfer and then said Prime never gave him a chance during the spring.
It’s time we get something straight. I haven&#8217;t heard anyone else discuss this, but it needs to be said: College football isn&#8217;t a daycare.

Players wanted in the business, and they got their wish. In fact, players are getting even more than they asked for, and they (and young people in general) need to learn there are two sides to being in the business.
You don&#8217;t always get your way, Marie Antoinette. You can&#8217;t have your cake and eat it too. Life isn&#8217;t fair. You can&#8217;t cry about wanting in the business, then cry because you don&#8217;t like the negative side of it. You can get paid to play now, even on top of a full ride scholarship. Not only that, if you are getting paid, you’re getting paid as an 18-year-old, so you&#8217;re open to criticism. If you don&#8217;t perform well, that&#8217;s the way the world works.
If the high schooler who runs the cash register at the Chick-fil-A gets told they aren&#8217;t doing a good job, then the 18-year-old wide receiver who&#8217;s getting paid should be open to the exact same criticism. That&#8217;s life.
And to be honest, it&#8217;s a pretty damn good life lesson for some of these young people. If your boss says you&#8217;re not going to get any hours due to poor performance, you should probably go find another job. It happens in every other walk of life because that’s the real world.

It&#8217;s amazing that the 18-year-olds who stormed the beaches of Normandy during World War II didn&#8217;t complain nearly as much as this soft generation of individuals we have today. Child actors get their performances graded — and graded pretty harshly. I don&#8217;t see them moaning or complaining as much as some of these players today.
We have to stop treating people who are entering adulthood and getting financially rewarded like little babies. It&#8217;s not good for them or society.
Now, some would make the argument that not every player is getting paid, to which I would counter and say, that is the cost of your peers wanting in the business. Nobody is forcing you to play. If you don&#8217;t like it, then leave.
That doesn&#8217;t mean anyone needs to be a jerk or criticize just for the fun of it. But acting like these 18-year-old and older players are beyond critique while getting paid is a practice in futility. It&#8217;s one of the reasons so many young adults have a warped view of the world; they never get told no, and they never get told they didn&#8217;t do a good job.
Most coaches are going to defend their players at all costs — because they have to. They are with them every day, and that’s smart. But the best thing you can do for a young person is to tell them the truth. Do I always approve of the way Deion Sanders goes about it? Sometimes I don&#8217;t, but he isn&#8217;t wrong. Maybe if more people took those same steps, we wouldn&#8217;t have the situations we see today all over college campuses.
So, you wanted in the business, and now, you&#8217;re in it. If you can&#8217;t handle <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/coach-prime-catches-heat-again-over-the-transfer-portal">the heat</a>, then get out of the kitchen. As one of my favorite coaches used to say, “Go ahead and quit. I&#8217;m sure your mom will still love you.”

Jake Crain: Deion Sanders is catching heat once again because he told a player he needed to transfer during the off season. Then the player didn&#8217;t. Now, that player is saying Prime never gave him a chance during the spring.
Nobody&#8217;s forcing anybody to play. I remember when coaches used to gray shirt and blue shirt guys just to be able to have extra guys on the roster and all of a sudden players got cut. I didn&#8217;t see anybody crying when Nick Saban was doing that like they&#8217;re doing with Deion Sanders. I&#8217;m not the biggest Deion Sanders fan in the world, but Xavier Smith transferred from Colorado to Austin Peay. It&#8217;s not like he transferred to another Power Five or somewhere like that.
I don&#8217;t know Xavier Smith, but, buddy, you better toughen your ass up or this world is going to chew you up and spit you out like you were never there.

Blain Crain: Where does he think he is? I don&#8217;t even know how he made it to this point. Did he get babied through middle and high school? Deion Sanders is doing him a favor. Sometimes, back in the day, you wouldn&#8217;t even get this favor; you wouldn&#8217;t even get talked to. You would just slowly walk your way through maybe two years, and then go.
If you&#8217;re not good enough and he knows it, he&#8217;s giving you an outlet to go play the sport that you love. Smith should be saying, “Thanks for telling me this. Now, I don&#8217;t have to waste two years working my ass off when I know I&#8217;m not good enough to make it.” If anything, this is a good thing from Deion Sanders, and it is a coach&#8217;s job to know the finesse of both ways: know how to beat a guy down, but also bring him up. Hell on the field and heaven off of it. It&#8217;s a good mix and the best one knows how to do it.
But how many times has Nick Saban said this to a guy? How many times has Kirby Smart said this to a guy? It&#8217;s not as blown up, obviously because it&#8217;s not Deion Sanders, but I don&#8217;t think this is a bad look from Deion whatsoever.
Jake Crain: I don&#8217;t think it is at all. Now, what Shedeur said is a totally different situation. He was defending his dad and put on social media that he basically couldn’t even remember Smith, and he was mid at best.
Listen, just because you think something doesn&#8217;t mean you should tweet it. All I heard last week was Spencer Rattler dropped to the fifth round of the draft because of a documentary that came out when he was 17. Well, if you’re an NFL scout, I want y&#8217;all to keep that same energy with Shedeur Sanders, with him coming out and saying this about another player.
Now, it&#8217;s probably the truth, but it&#8217;s a bad business decision. If I&#8217;m somebody who’s thinking about drafting Shedeur Sanders, I know he&#8217;s talented, but I&#8217;m worried about the people around him who are facilitating him and giving him business advice because this was just a bad strategy.

Blain Crain: That’s the Caleb Williams effect. How much does your talent outweigh your attitude? 
David Cone: That&#8217;s a question as old as time when it comes to guys who&#8217;ve had a lot of success in the sports arena, especially when you&#8217;re talking about paying them tens of millions of dollars to go to the professional level.
Another thing to consider when a coach tells a guy he’s not playing well enough and should transfer, a lot of times that is just motivation to get them to play better. Oftentimes, a coach will say that, not because they want the player to actually transfer and leave, but because they’re going to do whatever they can to make that player understand he&#8217;s not performing. They’ll stop saying those things when he does start performing up to the standard they’re trying to set, especially as a new coach and a new place.
Jake Crain: Some people accuse me of bias here, but I think Bruce Pearl has one of the best quotes when it comes to this. He tells his own players, “It&#8217;s my job to out recruit you. It&#8217;s my job to keep recruiting better and better players.” It’s a player who knows that up front with a coach who says, “You’re not good enough to play here. I think if you really want an opportunity to play and to have an impact, you probably need to transfer somewhere else. I&#8217;m not going to tell you where, but I&#8217;ll help you and do as much as I can to get you to a place where you can play.” As opposed to telling a player, “Hey, I know how good you are. I know how good you can be. But if you don&#8217;t start performing to the level and reaching your potential, then there&#8217;s not going to be a spot for you here eventually.” To me, there are nuanced ways to handle it, and Prime can be a little bit brash, but, at the end of the day, I would much rather have a coach that tells me I probably need to transfer as opposed to telling me I’m good enough just so the coach has a good third stringer they don’t have to give a bunch of practice reps.  I&#8217;ve seen coaches do that too. At least Prime is taking the high road in that sense.
David Cone: There are multiple things to consider, especially when you&#8217;re not the starting player, including what school would be best. Luckily, I was fortunate to play for a lot of great coaches who I felt like had my back as a person, but their job also depends on having successful football players who win football games.
And everyone grew up in a hometown where there was a guy who was the recreational coach of a baseball or football team who was a really great athlete himself. But he had a son, and he wanted to coach his son. He wanted his son to be the starting quarterback, or he wanted his son to be the starting pitcher. He didn&#8217;t really care about the other players on the team. He may not have known their name. And guess what? In five years, when his kid&#8217;s not playing rec league anymore because he&#8217;s moved on to middle school or high school, he&#8217;s not a little league coach anymore.
I think that&#8217;s Deion Sanders, just on a seismic scale right now. His kids are going to go to the NFL. I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s a coincidence that Deion Sanders just started coaching college football randomly right when his kids got a chance to play. Maybe I&#8217;m wrong. Maybe he will coach for a long time, but they won one game before he got there.
A large part of Deion Sanders’ responsibility involves resetting the culture. I don&#8217;t care for the way he goes about a lot of things in doing that. But at the same time, they have to get going now.

Coach Prime Catches Heat Again Over The Transfer Portal

University of Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders has asked for leniency against four high schoolers who are accused of stealing from his team&#8217;s locker room during a game late last month.
Thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and other valuable items were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/thousands-of-dollars-of-jewelry-stolen-from-colorado-football-players-during-ucla-game" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stolen</a> from the locker room as the team visited the Rose Bowl in Southern California to play the UCLA Bruins on October 28. The Denver Post <a href="https://www.denverpost.com/2023/11/14/deion-sanders-cu-buffs-rose-bowl-theft-suspects-forgiveness/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that at least five football players were victimized during the robbery.
“Let’s make sure those kids atone for what transpired, whether it’s community service or whatever it is, but they don’t lose the opportunities to change their lives,” Sanders told reporters on Tuesday. “They are kids. They made a stupid, dumb, idiotic mistake. When I was 17, 18, so did I. All right? So did you.”
He added, “Let’s pray for those kids and lift them up, and hopefully and prayerfully, they get another opportunity.”
The Pasadena Police Department, who were tipped off about the suspects, recovered the items during a subsequent search.
&#8220;Our detectives worked diligently to follow up on all leads, which resulted in the quick execution of search warrants,&#8221; the department said. &#8220;The investigation will be ongoing.&#8221;

It&#8217;s believed that some of the suspects played football at Beaumont High School, according to various <a href="https://www.buffzone.com/2023/11/14/4-beaumont-high-students-identified-as-suspects-in-rose-bowl-locker-room-thefts/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a>.
&#8220;We are disappointed and disheartened to hear of the alleged involvement of Beaumont High School students in the incident at the UCLA-Colorado football game on October 28,&#8221; the district said in a statement. &#8220;We strive to promote strong character and integrity in our students, and the alleged actions do not represent our core values as a school, District, and community. While the students were not at the UCLA-Colorado football game as part of a school-sponsored event, the District is cooperating fully with Pasadena Police Department’s investigation.&#8221;

Deion Sanders Calls For Leniency For Teens Suspected Of Stealing From His Team’s Locker Room

Colorado Buffaloes head coach <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/deion-sanders" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deion Sanders</a> wants the NCAA or the Rose Bowl to repay his players&#8217; thousands of dollars after the college athletes were robbed of jewelry, cash, and other valuable items during their game against the UCLA Bruins last weekend.
&#8220;Our kids got robbed during the game last week,&#8221; Sanders <a href="https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/38787831/deion-sanders-wants-colorado-players-reimbursed-robbery" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> reporters. &#8220;I think that&#8217;s a travesty. I would expect the NCAA to do something about that.&#8221;
The Buffaloes lost 28-16 to the then-No. 23 Bruins on Saturday at the Rose Bowl stadium in Los Angeles — approximately 26 miles northeast of the UCLA campus. Upon returning to their locker room, at least five players <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/thousands-of-dollars-of-jewelry-stolen-from-colorado-football-players-during-ucla-game" target="_blank" rel="noopener">discovered they were victims</a> of the alleged robbery.
&#8220;This is the Rose Bowl,&#8221; Sanders continued. &#8220;They said the Granddaddy of &#8217;em all, right? I&#8217;m sure Granddaddy had some money. Grandpa should have some money to give these kids.&#8221;
UCLA officials filed a report with the Pasadena Police Department on Monday detailing the items stolen from the Buffaloes&#8217; locker room at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles.
&#8220;The UCLA athletic department confirmed that a report was filed to the Pasadena Police Department following the UCLA-Colorado football game regarding items that were reportedly missing from the Colorado locker room,&#8221; UCLA said in a statement. &#8220;UCLA is in communication with law enforcement, Rose Bowl Stadium officials, and the University of Colorado on the matter.&#8221;
UCLA head coach Chip Kelly called the incident &#8220;awful for anybody.&#8221;
&#8220;You would think that when you go anywhere that your valuables are safe,&#8221; Kelly said.
A video posted to social media following the game showed several players lamenting about their stolen items.

&#8220;I just got mine, bro,&#8221; Colorado safety Cam&#8217;Ron Silmon-Craig said. &#8220;I had the jewelry box and everything, bro. They took it off my jewelry box.&#8221;

Sanders reportedly said most of the players on his team never purchased insurance for the items that were stolen on Saturday.
&#8220;I&#8217;m going to have a list made out from these young men, and I know they&#8217;re going to be truthful about what they lost, so we can try and get it back for them,&#8221; Sanders said. &#8220;They may not be able to get the items back, but they should be able to reimburse them. That was unbelievable.&#8221;
&#8220;It don&#8217;t make no sense when you&#8217;re out there ballin&#8217; and playing your heart out, and you get robbed at the same [time],&#8221; he added. &#8220;I hope we can do something about that, NCAA. You do something about everything else. Do something about that.&#8221;
Between the stolen items and losing the last four out of five games, the Buffaloes have faced a streak of bad luck.
Sheduer Sanders, the starting quarterback for the Buffaloes and Dieon&#8217;s youngest son, took several hits during the last game after the Bruins&#8217; defense team sacked him seven times and slammed and knocked him down dozens of other times. The battering left Sanders needing an injection at halftime to keep playing.
His father and head coach said he would give Sheduer &#8220;another day or so&#8221; to heal before returning to the field.
&#8220;We want his best,&#8221; Sanders said. &#8220;He&#8217;s doing well, though, mentally, physically, as well as psychologically.&#8221;
The Buffaloes host No. 16 Oregon State Beavers on November 4.

After a white-hot 3-0 start to the season, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/deion-sanders" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Colorado</a> got knocked back down to reality on Saturday in a 42-6 blowout to the Oregon Ducks in Eugene.
Head coach Deion Sanders, referred to as &#8220;Coach Prime,&#8221; had turned the school into the epicenter of all of football throughout the first several weeks of the college football season and into arguably the top story in all of sports.
The amount of attention that the program was receiving — combined with some of their top players flashing their financial successes in the faces of their opponents — provided a lot of motivation for the Ducks to want to come out and humiliate the Buffs.
Oregon Head Coach Dan Lanning said before the game that his team was “rooted in substance, not flash” and predicted that Colorado&#8217;s &#8220;Cinderella story&#8221; was over.
&#8220;The Cinderella story is over, men. They’re fighting for clicks, we’re fighting for wins,&#8221; he said in the locker room prior to the game. &#8220;There’s a difference. This game ain’t going to be played in Hollywood. It’s going to be played on the grass.&#8221;
The game did not take long to turn ugly as Oregon manhandled Colorado in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Early in the 2nd quarter with a two-touchdown lead, Oregon ran a well-executed fake punt on 4th down that seemed to be a pivotal moment in the game. By halftime, the score was 35-0.
Lanning, who has shown disdain for Colorado in the past, made clear as he was headed back to the sidelines that he wanted to humiliate Colorado, telling a reporter that he was &#8220;not satisfied&#8221; with the 35-0 lead.
Late in the 3rd quarter, Lanning had his team — already up 42-0 — go for it on 4th &amp; goal from the Colorado 5-yard line. They came up short. After the failed attempt, Oregon pulled back the reins a bit.

&#8220;First and foremost, I thank the Lord for allowing all this to transpire,&#8221; Sanders told the media after the game. &#8220;It&#8217;s a good old-fashioned butt-kicking. There&#8217;s no excuses, no nothing. Their coaches did a heck of a job preparing their team. Obviously we didn&#8217;t. That was good. I mean, that was a really good old-fashioned butt-kicking. We went into the game wanting to dominate several phases. We lost offensively, defensively, as well as special teams. That fake punt kind of kind of got them really rolling and they didn&#8217;t stop ever since they secured that first down. Well-coached team.&#8221;
Sanders later addressed Lanning&#8217;s remarks about &#8220;clicks.&#8221;
&#8220;I don&#8217;t say stuff just to say it for click on the contrary to what some may say,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I analyze and I understand what we&#8217;re up against and what we have and what we need. One thing that I can say, honestly and candidly, you gotta get me right now. This is the worst we&#8217;re gonna be. You better get me right now.&#8221;

Colorado Football Head Coach <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/deion-sanders" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deion Sanders</a>, commonly referred to as &#8220;Coach Prime,&#8221; has turned the school&#8217;s abysmal football program — which went 1-11 last year — into one of the most watched teams in all of college football this year.
The team&#8217;s most recent game — a 43-35 win in double OT on Saturday — drew a staggering 9.3 million viewers, making it the most-watched late-night college football game in the history of ESPN, the network <a href="https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/38439185/csu-colorado-draws-late-night-record-93m-viewers-espn" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. The game had a peak of 11.1 million viewers.
Despite the game not ending until 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, it was still &#8220;ESPN&#8217;s fifth-most-watched regular-season game ever on the network for any time slot,&#8221; the network said. &#8220;That broadcast window for ESPN college football averaged about 1.7 million viewers last year.&#8221;
&#8220;It also was the most-streamed regular-season college football game of all time for ESPN,&#8221; the network added.
In Week 1, Colorado beat national championship runner up TCU on the road in a game carried by Fox Sports, which was the most watched game of the day with 7.3 million viewers. It was Fox Sports&#8217; most-watched Week 1 “Big Noon Saturday” game ever and it was the network’s third-most-watched Big 12 regular-season college football game ever, according to <a href="https://theathletic.com/4838590/2023/09/06/colorado-tcu-college-football-viewership/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Athletic</a>.
Only Florida State vs. LSU had more viewers in Week 1 and that game was a standalone Sunday night game, allowing it to have more viewers before the NFL season kicked off.
In Week 2, Colorado thumped arch-rival Nebraska 36-14 on Fox Sports, bringing in an audience of 8.73 million viewers.
&#8220;It was the most-watched regular season Pac-12 game ever for Fox and the 10th most-watched regular season college football game ever for the network,&#8221; Yahoo Sports <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/espn-draws-88-million-viewers-for-alabama-texas-narrowly-beating-foxs-colorado-nebraska-broadcast-152444565.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.

In Week 2, only Texas vs. Alabama had more viewers with 8.76 million tuning in.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/colorado" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Colorado</a> head football coach Deion Sanders, commonly referred to as &#8220;Coach Prime,&#8221; did not disappoint in his home opener at Folsom Field on Saturday when the No. 22 Colorado Buffaloes trounced their arch rival, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 36-14.
Colorado played in front of a sold-out stadium at home for the first time in years as they squared off against Nebraska — a rivalry for over a century that has in the past determined which team played for championships.
Ticket prices for the game averaged $476 per ticket — an amount <a href="https://www.actionnetwork.com/ncaaf/nebraska-vs-colorado-ticket-prices-higher-than-any-nfl-game" target="_blank" rel="noopener">higher</a> than the average ticket price for the most expensive NFL game in week 1.
The game started off as a defensive match before repeated turnovers by a sloppy Cornhusker team proved to be too costly for the team to recover from against a superior Colorado team that was out of rhythm for much of the game.
Sanders had told his team that this game was &#8220;personal&#8221; and that they would not be allowed to wear red — Nebraska&#8217;s color — all week in the lead-up to the game.
&#8220;We didn&#8217;t just want to win, we wanted to dominate,&#8221; Sanders said. &#8220;The first half, we weren&#8217;t dominant, the second half, we got it together and we began to dominate. We wanted to really impose our will.&#8221;
Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders — a Heisman Trophy contender who is the son of the head coach — said that the motivation for the game was easy.
&#8220;It was extremely personal,&#8221; the younger Sanders said. &#8220;We go out there to warm up and you got the head coach for the other team (Matt Rhule) trying to stand in the middle of the Buff. It&#8217;s OK if a couple of players do it, it&#8217;s fine. Just enjoy the scenery, but when you&#8217;ve got a whole team trying to disrespect it, I&#8217;m not going for that at all, so I went in there and disrupted it.

The game was 36-7 late in the fourth quarter when Colorado decided to pull their top players and Nebraska scored a touchdown with only a few seconds left.
