Barstool Sports founder David Portnoy produced messages from the women who accused him of rough-but-consensual sex in a Business Insider article earlier this month that cast doubt on the article’s central claims that Portnoy is an abuser.
In a livestream presented on Thursday, Portnoy showed messages from the women after their sexual encounter with him showing they either wanted to see him again or admitting that the narrative that the sex was somehow not consensual is false. The two accusers were given pseudonyms of Allison and Madison but Portnoy was able to figure out who they were based on bare details provided in the Business Insider article.
He produced messages from Allison where she told him: “really want to see you” and that she “would do anything.” After the two had sex, Allison again messaged Portnoy, asking what he was up to that day and asking “can we bang”? A day later, Portnoy asked her how the “bragging” went and Allison responded: “Amazing I got the word around too,” adding a winking emoji. She later said she was “in shock that ur still dming me [right now]… like whats up dave portnoy.”
As for the other accuser, Madison, Portnoy produced replies she made to comments on a TikTok video she made where she stated: “The article never said the sex wasn’t consensual” and “nobody said he was a rapist.”
Of course, the facts don’t matter in stories like this. The damage to Portnoy’s image is already done, and the reporter who wrote the story was rewarded with a staff position at Business Insider.

Portnoy had emailed Carlson asking him to appear on Portnoy’s podcast to discuss the article, but Carlson declined. Portnoy posted this response and says he was suspended from Twitter for 12 hours.

I’m not going to let it go because this is, this behavior, I’ve never been attacked like this. I’ve been attacked for two decades, but never escalated to this length and, frankly, it’s scary. I didn’t know that you could do this.”

“It’s actually f***ing scary because people can basically say whatever they want and, like, this is going to be the new narrative, ‘Dave Portnoy is a rapist.’ It is 100% false. There is not an ounce of credibility to it,” Portnoy added.

Barstool Sports founder David Portnoy says he was suspended from Twitter for 12 hours earlier this week after posting an email response from Business Insider editor-in-chief Nicholas Carlson.
Business Insider recently published an article where several women accuse Portnoy of sexual misconduct, allegations Portnoy has denied. The Washington Examiner <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/dave-portnoy-suspended-from-twitter-after-posting-email-from-insider-editor-in-chief">reported</a> that Portnoy posted an Instagram story on Monday saying he had been temporarily suspended from Twitter for 12 hours after he posted a screenshot of Carlson’s response to Portnoy’s request for him to discuss Business Insider’s article on his podcast.
&#8220;I got suspended from posting on Twitter for 12 hours for posting this,&#8221; Portnoy wrote in the post, which included the screenshot.
Portnoy included his invitation to Carlson, which asked him to come on Portnoy’s podcast to discuss the article.
&#8220;We&#8217;ll make it as fair as possible and you can bring as many people as possible as you&#8217;d like,&#8221; Portnoy said in the invitation. &#8220;You can video/record the whole conversation and repost for your own purposes.&#8221;
Carlson responded by thanking Portnoy for the invitation but saying that he would decline and “let the story speak for itself.” He then directed Portnoy to another employee for “future invitations or requests for comment.”

Portnoy appeared on Fox News Monday night for an interview with host Tucker Carlson. The sports media mogul slammed Business Insider over a report the outlet published last week detailing several accusations of sexual misconduct against Portnoy.
“They won’t even discuss it. They print and run. They print and run. It’s disgusting and it’s character assassination,” Portnoy said. “My lawyers have said just let it go, it’ll go away. I’m not going to let it go because this is, this behavior, I’ve never been attacked like this. I’ve been attacked for two decades, but never escalated to this length and, frankly, it’s scary. Business Insider published a report last week detailing two women’s accusations that Portnoy choked and hurt them during a consensual hook-up. Portnoy, who claims to have identified the women referenced in the article, pushed back against the allegations in a video posted online on Thursday.
The women making the allegations, both college-aged, did not consent to Business Insider using their real names, claiming to fear retribution from Portnoy. The first allegation, brought by a woman identified as Madison, said that Portnoy flew her to his house for a visit lasting a few days. During her time with the Barstool founder, she said they had sex once and the experience left her feeling like “a human sex doll.”
Texting a friend two days after the episode, she told a friend that Portnoy was rough and compared the feeling of sex that night to rape. She said she screamed in pain for Portnoy to stop, but he did not. She slept on the couch for the rest of her stay, she said.
In a video posted to Twitter on Thursday, Portnoy said that her version of events was “not true.” Portnoy was able to identify the girl because she said she slept on the couch for the rest of her visit. That was one of the few details about her story that Portnoy said was accurate.

The reason the woman slept on the couch, Portnoy said, was because they were not getting along. He added that he remembered she wanted to continue hooking up, but after having significant disagreements about life, he realized the relationship would not work.
“After we hooked up, we were hanging out more and it just became one of those situations where we disagree basically on everything from, you know, is it raining or sunny out. It was just oil and vinegar. Two people who did not get along, did not see the world the same way, and that is why she slept on the couch,” Portnoy said.
He said the entire situation was a “he said, she said” and that no matter what he claimed, he could never disprove her version of events. He did unequivocally deny her version, however.
The second accusation came from a woman identified as Allison who claimed to have met Portnoy at his house in Nantucket. She messaged him over social media and asked to meet with him, and the two agreed to meet at his house. They hung out by his pool, then had sex.
Allison said the sex was rough, and she said that Portnoy choked and filmed her without permission. She said she left Portnoy’s house and was hospitalized after becoming suicidal several days later. Allison’s mother called the police and asked them to post an officer outside of Portnoy’s house. “Go put somebody outside his door because you&#8217;re going to see every day there&#8217;s some young girl being dropped off,” Allison’s mother said.
Portnoy expressed condolences for Allison if she was so depressed after hooking up with him that she had to be hospitalized. He again denied the allegations against him, however, and produced messages from the girl who he believed to be the one in the article asking to meet up with him again.
He said he was able to identify Allison because, contrary to what the Business Insider report depicted, Portnoy does not throw parties often or have people over at his house. The list of possibilities of who Allison could be was small. Portnoy showed messages from the woman continuing to talk to him after they hooked up and telling Portnoy that she had bragged about the experience to her friends.
“For eight months, those are the two accusations, sexual in nature, that were dug up against me. The first one, I’ll never be able to prove my side of the story. Ever. It’s a he said, she said. I swear to God on my life I am telling the truth. The second one, at least I have something to back it up. I don’t know what else to do,” Portnoy said, after giving his version of events.
Portnoy went on to say that for months he had been receiving messages from women that he has been associated with telling him of a reporter at Business Insider asking leading questions about Portnoy’s sex life. “This reporter had an agenda from day one,” he said.
“The woke cancel culture wants to cancel me. This is the next escalation,” he said. “I’m scared now. I’m scared because they’re asking for more. It&#8217;s like they are asking the internet, ‘tell us bad stories about Dave Portnoy.’ Well, guess what, a lot of f***ing people hate me. I guarantee you this, they’ll never be able to prove anything, nothing, because nothing has ever happened.”

BI published a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/barstool-sports-dave-portnoy-sex-choking-violent-stoolies">report</a> Thursday detailing several consensual sexual encounters Portnoy had with college-age women. The women, who were not named out of fear of retribution, said they later regretted hooking up with Portnoy. Two of the women accused Portnoy of choking and hurting them during sex.
An attorney for Barstool Sports said in a statement that the accusations made in the BI article “embody half-truths, are highly misleading, lack appropriate context, and appear to have been provided to you by individuals whose motivations and trustworthiness should at least have been fully vetted.”
Since the article was published, Portnoy has aggressively pushed back against the allegations over Twitter while slamming BI, BI reporter Julia Black, BI founder and CEO Henry Blodget, and others. Portnoy invited Blodget and others onto his Barstool podcast “The Dave Portnoy Show” to defend BI’s article, but BI declined the request, according to a screenshot of an email Portnoy posted to his <a href="https://twitter.com/stoolpresidente/status/1457699549842055176">Twitter</a>.
Portnoy has also accused BI of reaching out to Barstool’s advertisers to “threaten” them over the exposé into Portnoy’s sex life. Portnoy posted a screenshot of an email a BI reporter allegedly sent to one of Barstool’s partners asking about the story and any “discussions regarding those partnerships and/or ad placements.”

Boreing encouraged Portnoy’s supporters and others to stand with the Barstool Sports founder, commending Portnoy for fighting back against BI and its efforts to “[target] his advertisers and supporters.” Boreing said:

He&#8217;s right to defend himself, right to defend his company, and right to return fire against the hypocrites trying to bring him down.

Barstool Sports founder David Portnoy let loose on politicians closing small businesses in yet another fiery rant on Friday as he lamented what has become of the nation.
&#8220;New York City just closed indoor dining,&#8221; Portnoy said in a <a href="https://twitter.com/stoolpresidente/status/1337453710822285316?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1337453710822285316%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Feditorial.dailywire.com%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php%3Fpost%3D172187action%3Dedit">video</a> posted to Twitter. &#8220;What do they think is going to happen? Portnoy noted that these many small businesses did everything within their creative power to play ball with the government by erecting spaces and creating a safe environment for their customers to come and enjoy themselves.
&#8220;They&#8217;ve been as creative as possible.  They&#8217;ve got the outdoor dining,  The structures they&#8217;ve had to build on their own dime. You have the glass in between the mask,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You have the 6 feet of separation, the fewer tables. They&#8217;ve been as creative as you can be to save their livelihoods, to save what they spent decades of blood, sweat, and tears building.  They&#8217;ve done whatever, they scratched and clawed.  And now, a few politicians in New York City is like, &#8216;You&#8217;re done! We&#8217;re  shutting it down!&#8217; No indoor dining.'&#8221;
&#8220;How do you expect these people to survive? Are people going to go out to dinner in ice-cold temperatures? It&#8217;s insanity!&#8221; he declared, stressing that he is not questioning that the virus poses a real danger, particularly to at-risk individuals.
Portnoy then implored people who are most vulnerable to COVID-19 to stay home until the vaccine comes so that businesses can stay afloat.
&#8220;Listen, the vaccine is right around the corner, if your health is impaired, you&#8217;re afraid of it, you&#8217;re old, don&#8217;t go out. Stay inside for three months. The vaccine is coming, but let people decide,&#8221; he said.
&#8220;I can&#8217;t believe, in this country, what I consider the most basic right of them all, the right to earn a living, the right to earn a livelihood is now being stolen, it is being stolen by a few politicians who believe they are smarter than me and you,&#8221; he added. &#8220;They believe they have the right to tell me and you how to live our lives. Something you could never imagine. Basic freedoms they are stealing it. And I&#8217;m not over saying it, they are stealing it, and they&#8217;re saying they&#8217;re protecting us. Let us protect ourselves.&#8221;
Getting more pointed, Portnoy said that if he struggled for over a decade to create a successful business only to have politicians strip it from him so suddenly would be worse than death.
&#8220;You&#8217;re not protecting a family that you just destroyed. These people aren&#8217;t getting their livelihoods back. As I&#8217;ve said 1 million times,  if I started barstool, worked my d*** to the bone for a decade and I got right to the point of making it and you pull the plug without me having the chance, I would rather die,&#8221; he said.
