The FBI has quietly edited the crime statistics for 2022 after initially stating in September of 2023 that crime — particularly violent crime — was down 2.1% overall.
In the months since that number was first released, Democrats and media talking heads have wielded it like a sledgehammer to crush Republican claims that crime is on the rise — but the &#8220;stealth edit,&#8221; which was somehow not mentioned in a September 2024 <a href="https://crimeresearch.org/2024/10/the-revised-fbi-crime-data-reveals-that-it-originally-missed-1699-murders-in-2022-given-that-almost-all-murders-are-reported-how-does-the-fbi-miss-that-many-murders/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press release</a> from the Bureau, undercuts their argument.
Real Clear Politics co-founder and President Tom Bevan shared an <a href="https://www.realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2024/10/16/stealth_edit_fbi_quietly_revises_violent_crime_stats_1065396.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">analysis of the revision</a>, saying in an X post, &#8220;Guess what? Real Clear Investigations (RCI) dug into the issue after seeing a seemingly innocuous statement on the FBI&#8217;s website, which read, &#8220;The 2022 violent crime rate has been updated for inclusion in CIUS, 2023.&#8221;
As RCI noted, there was no indication that the updates included an upward revision of the violent crime data — and the only way that anyone would ever see the change would be to download the current numbers and compare them side by side with the report released in 2023.

According to RCI&#8217;s analysis of just such a comparison, overall crime was up 4.5% rather than down 2.1%, as the Bureau had initially reported. That increase translated to 80,029 more violent crimes — 1,699 murders, 7,780 rapes, 33,459 robberies, and 37,091 aggravated assaults — than were reported in 2021.
To complicate matters even further, it appears that similar revisions did not occur in previous years.
Carl Moody, a professor at the College of William &amp; Mary, told RCI, &#8220;I have checked the data on total violent crime from 2004 to 2022. There were no revisions from 2004 to 2015, and from 2016 to 2020, there were small changes of less than one percentage point. The huge changes in 2021 and 2022, especially without an explanation, make it difficult to trust the FBI data.&#8221;
The revision vindicates Republicans, who have long been claiming that the data was incorrect and that crime was rising — and backs up former President Donald Trump, who was erroneously &#8220;fact-checked&#8221; on the issue by ABC News debate moderator David Muir.

Former President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he &#8220;wanted to be elegant&#8221; during his debate against Vice President Kamala Harris last week, but he now regrets not &#8220;going after&#8221; ABC News moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis.
Trump appeared on Fox News&#8217;s late-night show &#8220;<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/trump-says-regrets-not-going-after-abc-moderators-during-debate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gutfeld!</a>&#8221; where he was asked about the legacy media&#8217;s bias against him. The Republican nominee pointed to the ABC debate and the moderators&#8217; numerous fact-checks against him as an example of the media treating him unfairly.
&#8220;I walked off that stage and thought I had the best debate, and I was very unfairly treated by the anchor. I&#8217;m not fans of those guys anymore, and you know, his hair was better five years ago,&#8221; Trump said referring to Muir.
Trump mentioned being fact-checked by Muir on rising crime rates, saying, &#8220;It turned out to be a false attack.&#8221; Muir cited FBI crime statistics to push back on Trump&#8217;s statement that crime rates across the country are rising. A DOJ report <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/09/13/us-news/violent-crime-has-increased-doj-report-says-after-david-muir-disputed-trumps-claim-that-crime-is-through-the-roof/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> just days after the debate, however, supported Trump&#8217;s claims, revealing that violent crime has spiked under the Biden-Harris administration.
Trump added that the moderators said nothing when Harris repeated the Left-wing lie about Trump&#8217;s Charlottesville comments.
&#8220;They didn&#8217;t correct her once, and they corrected me [on] everything I said practically — I think nine times or 11 times,&#8221; Trump said.

Conservatives blasted the ABC News moderators during and after the debate, arguing that the fact-checks on Trump and none on Harris put the former president in an impossible-to-win fight.
The former president argued that in the days following the debate, more people realized that it &#8220;was all word salad&#8221; from Harris, adding that no matter how well he debated, the legacy media would claim that Trump &#8220;was nothing special.&#8221;
&#8220;I had people telling me that I&#8217;m wrong about things when I&#8217;m totally right. I was right about just about all of that stuff, and they were correcting me,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And I think my only regret is that I wanted to be elegant, and I didn&#8217;t want to go after the anchors. I wish I did, in a way.&#8221;

ABC News anchor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/david-muir" target="_blank" rel="noopener">David Muir</a> has seen a significant drop in ratings for his nightly news broadcast, &#8220;World News Tonight,&#8221; since moderating last week&#8217;s presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
During that debate, which is likely to be the only matchup between the 2024 nominees, Muir and co-moderator Linsey Davis were roundly criticized for throwing in with Harris. While they allowed her to push debunked talking points and verifiably false information, they repeatedly fact-checked Trump — even though in a few cases, their &#8220;fact-checks&#8221; were not accurate.
On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of last week — the three days immediately following the debate — Muir&#8217;s &#8220;World News Tonight&#8221; averaged 6.7 million viewers, according to a <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/09/17/media/abcs-david-muir-sees-newscast-ratings-tank-after-debate/?utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from the New York Post. That&#8217;s a 12% drop in viewership from the 7.6 million viewers Muir averaged prior to the debate this year.

The report noted that both the &#8220;CBS Evening News&#8221; and &#8220;NBC Nightly News&#8221; also saw a slight drop in ratings over those same three nights, but that the drop for ABC was more pronounced. Muir did retain his spot at the top of the ratings despite the drop-off.
In the week since the debate, critics have called out ABC over the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abc-news-is-the-most-biased-debate-host-possible-media-study" target="_blank" rel="noopener">obvious bias</a> displayed by both moderators during the broadcast, noting that in addition to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abc-debate-moderators-treated-kamala-trump-differently-on-fact-checks-follow-up-questions-analysis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Muir and Davis</a> only fact-checking Trump, they also only pressed him with follow-up questions.

Trump has also complained on several occasions about how unfair the set-up was, arguing that throughout most of the event, it had been &#8220;one against three.&#8221;
&#8220;It was so one-sided,&#8221; he said.
The former president said that Harris should have also been fact-checked if the moderators were going to be fair and honest about it. &#8220;Every one of them should have been questioned by David Muir, who I’ve lost a lot of respect for. Everyone’s lost respect for him.&#8221;

For those of you who missed this week’s presidential debate because you were doing something more rewarding like twisting your navel lint into the shape of circus animals, not to worry, the Daily Wire is here to bring you this handy blow-by-blow recap.
The debate began with a question from David Muir, ABC’s crack anchorman — and when I say crack, I mean but crack.
The butt crack anchorman asked Kamala, “Oh mimsy, you’re so nummy, your numminess is yummy, why does my yummy mummy make my tummy gummy?”
Vice President Harris responded, “I have a plan to rain destruction on America by controlling food prices so that grocery store shelves are empty, crippling the energy industry for no discernible reason and leaving babies to die if they violate a woman’s right to choose by surviving an abortion. Also, Trump’s golf game sucks.”
President Trump responded: “What do you mean my golf game sucks? I have a great golf game. Some say I have the greatest golf game anyone can remember. I would be playing great golf right now if the Biden-Harris administration hadn’t flooded our country with illegal immigrants who are eating our cats…”
But at this point, ABC’s Linsey Davis interrupted, saying, “I have to stop you there, Mr. President. We have many other things we want to discuss besides the issues. For instance, President Trump, can you explain to the nation why I hate you so very much? This is not your ordinary hatred. This is an obsessive detestation that has caused me to violate every principle of journalism until I disgrace the profession with my seething, livid, bug-eyed presence. Why have you done that to me?”
President Trump responded, “I have won many, many golf tournaments, and my handicap is now under three.”
At this point, Vice President Harris announced she would end the war in Gaza by ensuring Iran developed nuclear weapons and killed all the Jews before bombing America to rubble, and she added that Trump’s rallies were boring.

Screaming that his rallies were in fact terrific, Trump went into a rage, grabbed Harris and dragged her out of the studio, holding her in one hand as he clawed his way up the side of the Empire State Building with the other. David Muir flew after them in a weaponized bi-plane, screaming, “Don’t worry, mimsy, I’m coming to save my yummy nummy mummy!” He then opened fire on Trump with the bi-plane’s machine guns in what the Washington Post described as “the greatest act of journalism since journalism became an attempt to shoot Donald Trump with a biplane’s machine guns.”
In the wake of the debate, opinions were divided. 85% of women who hadn’t been laid in over a year were very impressed with Harris’s performance. “She really rocked that lovely pants suit,” said one woman named Brian Stelter. “And when she walked across the stage and invaded that scary man’s space, she was such a girl-boss, I burst into tears and spent the rest of the day in bed.” Ms. Stelter then burst into tears and got back into bed, sobbing, “Why did I ever return to CNN? I feel so invisible.”
On the other hand, 75% of men with operational sexual equipment felt Trump had done an excellent job of climbing up the Empire State Building with only one hand free, and they added that the ABC moderators had been so unfair, they’d decided to join a militia and overthrow the government.
Commentators also took different sides. For instance, on the Right, Tucker Carlson said the debate was the result of a secret deal struck between invisible demons pretending to be space aliens and CIA Agents in league with the Jews. Carlson said he knew he would be canceled for courageously attacking sacred cows, although possibly it would just be because he was babbling like some kind of nutcase.
On the left, the New York Times, a former newspaper, ran an editorial saying “Kamala Harris has proved herself to be the sort of woman we would include in a throuple if we were heterosexual.”
To which David Muir added, “Oh, my mummy. Nummy, mummy, mummy. Yummy mummy.”

Speaking with John Solomon from Just The News, Penn said: &#8220;I actually think they should do a full internal investigation, hire an outside law firm. I don&#8217;t know how much of this was planned in advance.&#8221;

I think the situation demands nothing less than that.&#8221;

The Trump campaign released <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-surges-past-harris-in-post-debate-internal-poll">internal polling</a> results after the debate, showing Trump receiving a slight boost after his performance while Harris&#8217; support remained unchanged.
In a ballot configuration that included all of the other candidates — including Green Party candidate Jill Stein, independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Libertarian Chase Oliver, and independent Cornel West — Trump gained two points after the debate to take a 48-46 lead over Harris.
In the head-to-head ballot configuration, which only featured Trump and Harris, Trump gained three points after the debate, and Harris dropped one point, moving the race from 48-48 before the debate to 50-47 after.

ABC News debate moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis fact-checked former President Donald Trump several times during Tuesday night&#8217;s debate — while allowing Vice President Kamala Harris to lie with impunity.
It was obvious coming into the debate that Trump was not going to get a fair shake, given that Davis had tried to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abc-news-debate-moderator-linsey-davis-smears-trump-suggests-hes-connected-to-kkk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">falsely suggest</a> that Trump had ties to the KKK last month and an analysis from this week <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abc-debate-host-david-muirs-show-was-100-positive-for-harris-93-negative-for-trump-report">found</a> that Muir gave Harris 100% positive coverage and Trump 93% negative coverage.
A Daily Wire analysis of the debate found that the moderators fact-checked Trump four times, while never fact-checking well over a dozen lies that Harris told. They also hit Trump with six follow-up questions or remarks after it was his turn to talk, something that they did not do to Harris even as she repeatedly evaded answering questions.
The fact-checks that Muir and Davis gave to Trump included the following examples:

<li>After Trump noted highly controversial remarks from former Virginia Governor Ralph Northam from 2019, when Northam <a href="https://x.com/RealSaavedra/status/1090676178111758336">talked</a> about allowing a baby born alive after an abortion to die. Trump said that &#8220;in other words, [they&#8217;ll] execute the baby.&#8221; Davis responded to the remarks: &#8220;There is no state in this country where it is legal to kill a baby after it&#8217;s born.&#8221;</li>
<li>Trump highlighted how there have been allegations made in recent days that Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, are &#8220;eating the dogs &#8230; They&#8217;re eating the cats. They&#8217;re eating the pets of the people that live there.&#8221; Muir fired back that the city manager told the network that that is not happening, even though the Ohio Attorney General <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ohios-attorney-general-responds-to-haitian-migrants-overwhelming-town">said</a> this week that they&#8217;ve heard complaints of people eating livestock and wild animals. When Trump said that he was repeating what he saw on television, Muir condescendingly responded: &#8220;I&#8217;m not taking this from television. I&#8217;m taking it from the city manager.&#8221;</li>
<li>Trump highlighted the fact that there has been an explosion of crime across the U.S. tied to millions of illegal aliens that have come into the U.S. Muir responded: &#8220;President Trump, as you know, the FBI says overall violent crime is coming down in this country.&#8221; The FBI released preliminary data for a few months this year that showed a downward trend but the data is not finalized until a long time after the year ends. The data was released before the summer started, which is the most violent time of the year. &#8220;Summer is just starting so, you know, we are also very cautious that we don&#8217;t overstate and overestimate the direction we&#8217;re going,&#8221; said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel.</li>
<li>Muir responded to Trump&#8217;s claims about the 2020 election being stolen by saying that judges &#8220;said there was no widespread fraud.&#8221;</li>
</ol>
At no point during the debate did Muir and Davis fact-check any of Harris&#8217; lies.
Both moderators also repeatedly pressed Trump with follow-up questions and remarks, something they did not do once with Harris, despite her being the candidate that is the most unknown to the public.
Examples of the follow-up questions and remarks that the moderators hit Trump with include:

<li>On abortion: &#8220;Would you veto a national abortion ban if it came to —,&#8221; Davis said. &#8220;But if I could just get a yes or no.&#8221;</li>
<li>On border bill: &#8220;Let me just ask, though, why did you try to kill that bill and successfully so?&#8221; Muir asked. &#8220;That would have put thousands of additional agents and officers on the border.&#8221;</li>
<li>On January 6: &#8220;It&#8217;s a very simple question as we move forward toward another election,&#8221; Muir said. &#8220;Is there anything you regret about what you did on that day? Yes or no.&#8221;</li>
<li>The Ukraine-Russia war: &#8220;Your time is up. Just to clarify the question, do you believe it&#8217;s in the U.S. best interests for Ukraine to win this war?&#8221; Muir asked. &#8220;Yes or no?&#8221;</li>
<li>On repealing Obamacare: &#8220;So just a yes or no, you still do not have a plan?&#8221; Davis asked.</li>
<li>When Trump mentioned Pelosi&#8217;s role in providing security on January 6, Muir snarked back: &#8220;The question was about you as president, not about Former Speaker Pelosi.&#8221;</li>

She had previously alluded to her personal firearm during her ill-fated presidential campaign in 2019, saying, &#8220;I am a gun owner, and I own a gun for probably the reason a lot of people do — for personal safety. I was a career prosecutor.&#8221;
But Harris did say that she favored mandatory gun buybacks, a position challenged during one of the 2019 primary debates by then-candidate Joe Biden and moderator David Muir.
During that debate, Biden argued that gun buybacks could not be enacted via executive order. Muir pressed Harris for a response, asking, &#8220;Does the Vice President have a point there?&#8221;
&#8220;I would say hey, Joe, instead of saying no we can&#8217;t, let&#8217;s say yes we can,&#8221; she said, tossing her hair and laughing.
&#8220;Let&#8217;s be constitutional,&#8221; Biden shot back. &#8220;We got a constitution.&#8221;

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/abc-news" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ABC News</a> faced intense backlash during and following Tuesday night&#8217;s presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
The bias was on display from the moment the debate began with co-moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis peppering Trump with follow-up questions while letting Harris dodge questions with no pushback.
The moderators both repeatedly needled Trump with fact-checks that at times bordered on absurd while they allowed Harris to lie with impunity.
Coming into the debate, it was obvious that Trump was not going to get a fair shake given that Davis had tried to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abc-news-debate-moderator-linsey-davis-smears-trump-suggests-hes-connected-to-kkk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">falsely suggest</a> that Trump had ties to the KKK last month and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abc-debate-host-david-muirs-show-was-100-positive-for-harris-93-negative-for-trump-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an analysis found</a> Muir gave Harris 100% positive coverage and Trump 93% negative coverage.

Where are the ABC moderators fact-checking? Or are their heads too far up Kamala Harris&#8217; a** to speak at this point?&#8221;
&#8220;Why did the moderators need Kamala Harris there at all?&#8221; asked Sirius XM host Megyn Kelly.
&#8220;ABC/Disney has done its best to help VP Harris,&#8221; said syndicated radio host Hugh Hewitt. &#8220;It’s astonishing how badly moderated it has been. It may help her but because former President Trump hit the border and the Biden/Harris weakness against everyone often and managed to remind everyone of the Trump economy it will not move the numbers.&#8221;

In a post on Tuesday on X, the host of “The Megyn Kelly Show” podcast was live-posting during the debate and wrote on social media that the network should be ashamed of itself, calling out the ABC News debate moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis.
“These moderators are a disgraceful failure and this is one of the most biased, unfair debates I have ever seen,” Kelly wrote to her 3.1 million followers. “Shame on you @ABC.”
“When he scores a point they make sure she gets another bite at the apple,” she added. “Must be so nice to have the moderators running cover for you as a candidate. Makes it so much easier.”

“The absolute gall of ABC to keep ‘fact checking’ ONLY Trump while letting her lie in every answer is infuriating,” Kelly continued.
In a later post, she wrote about how she believes this “pile-on” onto Trump by Harris and both debate moderators “is so bad and so obvious this will backfire.”

&#8220;Omg MORE FACT CHECKING FROM ABC &#8211; THIS IS THE WORST ANCHOR PILE-ON I HAVE EVER SEEN. 3 against 1,” she <a href="https://x.com/megynkelly/status/1833685086492832122">added</a>. “Charlottesville both sides lie. Bloodbath lie. All she does is lie.”
In an earlier <a href="https://x.com/megynkelly/status/1833678661188264120">post</a>, the podcast host pointed out one example during the debate when she said Trump was “on the ropes on abortion and IVF [because] of the amount of lying she’s doing.”
She added that when “Trump gets her on the mat” regarding her stance on “third trimester abortion,” the “moderators save her &amp; move on.&#8221; 

Kelly wasn’t the only person who called out the actions of the ABC News moderators.
“David Muir is criticizing and attacking Trump more than Kamala is,” one person <a href="https://x.com/ggreenwald/status/1833685173101056492">wrote</a>. “Kamala can relax because the ABC ‘moderators’ are handling the debate for her.”

The bias manifested itself in several ways, from asking Trump more hostile &#8220;gotcha&#8221; questions than they asked Harris to pressing Trump with followup questions while allowing Harris to evade answering questions with no followup to fact checking Trump while allowing Harris to lie with impunity.
ABC News&#8217; left-wing bias was on full display during the network&#8217;s pre-debate coverage, with media analyst Stephen L. Miller noting: &#8220;ABC&#8217;s pre-debate coverage might as well be The View right now. It&#8217;s insane.&#8221;
&#8220;In media file center they’ve been blaring the sound of ABCs pre-debate coverage. Except when Tom Cotton was just on. Sound went way down, couldn’t hear a word,&#8221; added RealClearPolitics President Tom Bevan. &#8220;Josh Shapiro comes on and the sound was turned back up. Unreal.&#8221;
Once the debate started, the bias quickly went on display with former Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell calling Davis a &#8220;far-left activist.&#8221;
Political commentator Noah Pollak posted on X: &#8220;ABC hosts embarrassing themselves protecting Harris from having to answer whether she supports partial birth late term abortions.&#8221;
Firebrand Ann Coulter noted: &#8220;But it&#8217;s great to have 3 Democrats debating Trump tonight. Thanks, ABC!&#8221;

ABC News Moderators Blasted For Extreme Bias, Fact Checking Trump But Not Harris

One of the moderators for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/abc-news" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ABC News</a>&#8216; presidential debate presented radically different coverage of both candidates on his nightly show on the network, according to a newly released media analysis.
The <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/rich-noyes/2024/09/09/100-abc-debate-moderator-david-muir-hosts-most-pro-harris-left-wing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study</a> from the Media Research Center found that the network&#8217;s &#8220;ABC World News Tonight&#8221; — hosted by David Muir, one of two moderators for Tuesday&#8217;s debate — gave 100% positive coverage to Vice President Kamala Harris since she entered the presidential race and a staggering 93% negative coverage to former President Donald Trump.
Analysts looked at all of the campaign stories that the show has aired from July 21 through the end of last week and found that there were &#8220;25 clearly positive statements about Harris from reporters, anchors, voters or other non-partisan sources, with zero negative statements — none. That computes to a gravity-defying 100% positive spin score for the Vice President.&#8221;
&#8220;As for Trump, our analysts found just five clearly positive comments, vs. 66 negative statements, for a dismal 7 percent positive (93% negative) spin score,&#8221; the report added.

The survey excludes comments made by partisans and comments about where candidates stand in polling, the report said, meaning that all of the negative comments against Trump came from ABC News&#8217; reporters and anchors or from alleged &#8220;non-partisan sources&#8221; who had negative things to say about Trump.
The survey found that &#8220;CBS Evening News&#8221; gave Harris 94% positive press on its show while giving Trump 77% negative spin.
Similarly, &#8220;NBC Nightly News&#8221; gave Harris 71% positive spin while giving Trump 86% negative spin.
Muir was so biased that his show never once described Harris as &#8220;liberal&#8221; or &#8220;progressive&#8221; — something that even CBS News and NBC News both did.
Muir refused to even show voters who opposed Harris — something that both CBS News and NBC News showed.
The show did not inform viewers of any controversies facing Harris — including her husband, Doug Emhoff, cheating on his first wife — but was quick to jump onto nearly all controversies surrounding the Republican nominee.
The other moderator for the debate, Linsey Davis, tried to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abc-news-debate-moderator-linsey-davis-smears-trump-suggests-hes-connected-to-kkk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suggest</a> last month that Trump was connected to the KKK because of where he held a rally in Pennsylvania.
Davis made the smear against Trump while speaking to Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer at the Democratic National Convention.
“As you know, former President Donald Trump is expected to go campaign in Howell, Michigan, tomorrow,” Davis said. “Many people are aware that a month ago, in Howell, KKK protesters marched in the streets with the white robes on and suggested that they support Donald Trump.”
“I’m curious if you make anything about that connection and him going in particular to Howell tomorrow,” Davis continued.
The fact that Davis tried to suggest a connection between Trump and the KKK because he is visiting a town where a dozen fringe activists held a protest weeks ago highlights concerns that Trump has had about having a debate on ABC News, given the network’s bias against him.

President Joe Biden said that he was ready to push forward with the Democrats&#8217; sweeping overhaul on voting rights and processes — H.R. 1, known as the For the People Act — even if it meant supporting a change in Senate rules that would allow his party to circumvent the filibuster.
<a href="https://dailywire.com/news/biden-says-scrapping-filibuster-would-throw-the-entire-congress-into-chaos-and-nothing-will-get-done/">Biden</a> made the comments during a sit-down interview with ABC&#8217;s David Muir which aired Wednesday, and although most of the interview was focused on the rising wave of COVID-19 — driven primarily by the Omicron variant — Muir turned the topic to the Democrats&#8217; plan to make dramatic changes in federal election procedures and asked the president how he planned to get that done in a Senate that is, quite literally, split down the middle.
&#8220;You know, many of your supporters believe in order to protect democracy in this country, you’ve got to protect voters’ rights. Yet, as we near the end of year one, nothing’s been done. It’s been blocked by the filibuster,&#8221; Muir began. &#8220;Are you prepared to support fundamental changes in the Senate rules to get this done?&#8221;
&#8220;Yes,&#8221; Biden answered immediately.
&#8220;What does that mean?&#8221; Muir pressed the president to elaborate.
&#8220;It means whatever it takes. Biden&#8217;s position on the matter has evolved since 2019, when he said during a campaign stop that it would be &#8220;dangerous&#8221; to get rid of the filibuster.

A number of prominent Democrats have called for an end to the filibuster at least with regard to voting rights, arguing that the issue is too important for the traditional rules of the Senate to keep them from getting it done.

Senator <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/cnn-host-asks-democrat-joe-manchin-about-filibuster-carveout-manchin-gives-a-brief-history-lesson/">Joe Manchin</a> (D-WV) could prove to be a roadblock on this particular issue as well, as he has said repeatedly that he would not support ending the filibuster in any fashion, even if it were simply a &#8220;carveout&#8221; that would only apply to H.R.-1.
