Even though the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/why-ap-called-pennsylvania-senate-f9af5d80be39fcc7a2abb8258a8f3ccf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> the Pennsylvania Senate race for Republican David McCormick a week ago, incumbent Democrat Sen. Bob Casey has refused to concede.
Casey and Democrat attorney Marc Elias publicly contested the election, and the close margin triggered a state recount, though McCormick is still expected to win, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pennsylvania-senate-race-triggers-recount-mccormick-projected-win-casey-yet-concede" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. McCormick currently leads Casey by about 29,000 votes. What’s especially interesting about the push to contest the election by Elias is that his website features a link to an article denouncing Sen. Tammy Baldwin’s (D-WI) Republican challenger for failing to concede.

Pennsylvania GOP senatorial candidate Dave McCormick discussed his recent surge in the polls, placing him within striking distance of incumbent Democrat Senator Bob Casey.
One month ago, McCormick trailed Casey by eight points, but a New York Times/Siena poll released Saturday found him only trailing by four points, while a Rasmussen poll released Monday found him only trailing by two points.
McCormick referred to the surge that has seen the numbers for himself and former President Donald Trump rise, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vLcp_k0z00">saying,</a> “The more people see Kamala Harris in person, the more they realize she&#8217;s not ready to be President and that she supports a set of extreme policies [like] banning fracking, mandatory buybacks of guns, citizenship for illegal immigrants. Everybody can see now it&#8217;s between a seventh-generation Pennsylvanian, an outsider, a business guy, someone who went to West Point and served in combat, versus a guy who&#8217;s been in elected office for 30 years and has been weak in a 99% vote for these liberal policies. McCormick spoke of a recent ICE memo which he said stated, &#8220;25,000 convicted murderers and convicted rapists have been knowingly let loose in our country. It just reinforced what Pennsylvanians knew, which is we’re certainly seeing illegal immigrant violent crime, we’re seeing violent crime, in general at very high levels in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh and moving into the suburbs, and people don&#8217;t feel safe,” he declared. “I think that&#8217;s the main reason that the Fraternal Order of Police has endorsed me; 44,000 men and women in blue who previously endorsed Senator Casey, they switched because they&#8217;re feeling like the Defund the Police [movement] and the lack of support for law enforcement is really standing in the way of law and order in our communities.”
“Bob Casey has been a sure vote for her,” McCormick said of Casey essentially rubberstamping Harris’ far-Left policies. “He was asked the other day whether there is anything he could think of that he disagreed with Kamala Harris on. A day at Hershey Park powered by a six-inch Shorti hoagie from Wawa and the gas it takes to get there costs Pennsylvanians over 52% more in 2024 than it did in 2019, according to a new website that pins the drastic rise in price for everyday items in the state to Democrat policies.
The new website, <a href="http://bobflation.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bobflation.com</a>, targets Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) and Vice President Kamala Harris, slamming the Democrats&#8217; policies for sending &#8220;the cost of Pennsylvania’s most iconic products and experiences SKYROCKETING.&#8221; Released by Casey&#8217;s Republican opponent Dave McCormick, it allows you to select different items and see how much they cost compared to the price under former President Donald Trump.
According to the website, a one-day ticket at the famous Hershey Park costs $60 today, a 50% increase from the $39.95 admissions fee in 2019. A six-inch Shorti hoagie from Wawa was $4.00 in 2019 and now costs nearly $7.00. A gallon of gas in Pennsylvania is averaging $3.62, which is up from $2.29 in 2019.
Other favorite items that have gone up in price in the Biden-Harris economy include a plain cheesesteak from John’s Roast Pork, which is up 23% since 2019, and a Pitts-Burger and Cheese from Primanti&#8217;s, which is up 37%. Everyday items such as eggs, bread, and milk have also skyrocketed in the past five years, the website shows.

Pennsylvania is a vital swing state in the 2024 election, and both Republican and Democratic presidential campaigns have heavily focused on reaching out to Pennsylvanians in recent weeks. Along with the state being up for grabs for former President Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Harris, Sen. Casey is in a close race with GOP Senate candidate David McCormick.
The economy has topped the list of issues for Pennsylvania voters in recent surveys with one in three voters saying it was the most important issue heading into the 2024 election, <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4071998-economy-tops-list-of-voter-concerns-in-new-poll-in-pennsylvania/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to a Quinnipiac poll taken in late June. Another <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2024/07/02/poll-economic-issues-top-voter-concerns-in-this-swing-state/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">poll</a> from the Commonwealth Foundation released in early July showed that four out of the top five issues for Pennsylvania voters were all related to the economy.

Federal Election Commission <a href="https://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/fecimg/?202407159660947686" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filings show</a> that the Immigrant Investors Association/Invest in the USA PAC donated to Casey in June. Casey is the only Senate candidate to have accepted a donation from the group, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/08/19/us-news/pennsylvania-dem-sen-bob-casey-backed-by-group-helping-chinese-nationals-obtain-us-residency-citizenship/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
“The overhauled EB-5 program, which requires a minimum investment of $800,000 for certain projects, has drawn the attention of Chinese nationals,” The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/chinese-investors-warm-to-sweetened-u-s-cash-for-visa-program-c23fdaed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a> in August 2023, adding, “In May, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a series of bills banning Chinese nationals from buying land in the state unless they are U.S. permanent residents.”
“Mainland Chinese nationals scored 6,125 out of the total 10,855 in fiscal year 2022,” The Post pointed out, adding that &#8220;Chinese citizens have historically constituted the largest nationality of those seeking visas through the EB-5 program.&#8221;

“Casey was at a June fundraiser hosted by one IIUSA PAC lobbyist and attended by another,&#8221; the Post reported. “Both of the lobbyists, Commonwealth managing partners Keith Pemrick and George McElwee, have been involved extensively <a href="https://iiusa.org/blog/eb-5-leaders-advocacy-summit-starts-tomorrow/">with EB-5 issues</a>.”
Casey’s cynicism regarding immigration has been in evidence for years. “Since taking office in 2006, Casey has voted several times against border security measures during years he was not running for re-election while calling for stronger border security in years when his name was on the ballot,” Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/dem-sen-bob-casey-slammed-by-gop-for-shifting-immigration-stances-complicit-in-the-crisis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
For example, in 2024, Casey <a href="https://www.mychesco.com/a/news/national/u-s-senators-take-aim-at-fentanyl-crisis-with-new-bill-to-bolster-southwest-border-security/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">introduced legislation</a> “aimed at fortifying security along the southwest border.” But in 2021 and 2022, when he was not up for re-election, he voted twice in opposition to drug detection at the border. In 2006, running against the GOP’s Rick Santorum, he claimed he was against amnesty for illegal immigrants. Yet in 2007 and 2013, when he was not running for re-election, he favored legislation that led to a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants.

After viewing in Tel Aviv the 47-minute compilation of recordings and videos memorializing the horrifying atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7, Pennsylvania GOP senatorial candidate David McCormick ripped Democrats who are attacking Israel and abandoning support for the Jewish state, writing, “Some of America’s leaders need to be shaken.”
In McCormick’s Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/joe-biden-and-bob-casey-fail-the-israel-test-gaza-hamas-pennsylvania-senate-ca1056bb">opinion piece</a>, he began,  “You could hear the demented joy through the phone. A young man standing in the Mefalsim kibbutz called his parents back in Gaza to brag about murdering 10 Jews on Oct. 7. They were elated.”
After noting some of the atrocities committed by Hamas, McCormick took aim at Democrats: “The footage should be a wake-up call for those in power and mandatory viewing for every member of Congress, Biden administration official, and delegate to the United Nations. It’s a window into the evil underlying Hamas, and jihadism more broadly, that will shake any leader with a conscience.”
“Some of America’s leaders need to be shaken,” he continued. “Thus far, Israel has counted on bipartisan U.S. support, but the chorus of Democratic dissenters is growing louder, influenced by pro-Hamas activists in our streets. &#8230; It’s time for politicians in both parties to take an unequivocal stand for Israel.”
“In Israel, my wife and I found a determined and courageous people willing to fight to stop this evil. Israel’s entire society rallied to care for Oct. 7 survivors and their families while burying those lost with dignity and care,” he stated. “They’ve sent 360,000 of their sons and daughters to serve in this war. As a U.S. Army officer who served in combat during the 1991 Gulf War, I have always admired the resilience of the Israeli people. They maintain a free society with all the rights we take for granted in America just a short jeep ride away from thugs who would slit their throats. They raise the flag of freedom where it is hard to do so—and ask only that we not sell them out in return.”
“Doing so would also be to sell out the American people,” he asserted. “Oct. 7 was a reminder of the threat posed to the civilized world by radical jihadists and Iranian proxies. If Israel falters, we are next. Just last month a Hamas spokesman said, ‘We need violent acts against American and British interests everywhere.’”
Then McCormick turned to Hamas’ sponsor, Iran: “Yet U.S. policy enables the true perpetrator of the atrocities in Gaza: Iran.” He also called out his Democratic opponent: “The senator I am challenging in this year’s election, Bob Casey, cast a decisive vote on the Iran nuclear deal in 2015. In November President Biden reissued a sanctions waiver that freed up more than $10 billion for Tehran even as its proxies were holding American citizens hostage in Gaza. Messrs. Biden and Casey’s Iran policy is appeasement, and that’s why the Iranians feel confident enough to go on offense against Israel and against American sailors.”
He noted that Israel’s leaders, despite any differences they might have, gave the same message to McCormick: “They are eternally grateful to the American people, and they believe America’s moral clarity is vital in today’s dangerous world.”
“If I am honored to represent the people of Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate this time next year, I will stand with Israel and for a strong America,” he concluded.

The results come despite <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pennsylvania-gop-senate-primary-might-be-two-way-contest-between-oz-and-barnette-poll-suggests">polls</a> in the days before the primary election that indicated a two-way contest between Oz and conservative commentator Kathy Barnette, who surged late in the race.
Last week, former President Donald Trump prompted Oz — his endorsed candidate — to claim the win. “Dr. Oz should declare victory. It makes it much harder for them to cheat with the ballots that they ‘just happened to find,’” Trump <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/05/18/trump-dr-oz-should-declare-victory-pennsylvania-00033420">claimed</a> on Truth Social, his social media company.
Oz or McCormick will face Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, the winner of the Democratic Senate primary, in November. The victor will then succeed Sen. Pat Toomey, a Republican who is retiring after two terms in the Senate. Democrats therefore have a chance to flip the seat in the general election.
Fetterman <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pennsylvania-democrats-pick-basketball-shorts-and-hoodie-clad-john-fetterman-over-rising-star-conor-lamb-in-senate-primary">defeated</a> U.S. Congressman Conor Lamb despite <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/top-democrat-in-pennsylvania-senate-race-to-get-pacemaker-campaign-announces-on-election-day">suffering a stroke</a> in the week before the election and successfully undergoing a procedure to receive a pacemaker on election day. Fetterman — who was the longtime mayor of Braddock, Pennsylvania, before becoming lieutenant governor in 2019 — carried every county and more than doubled Lamb’s share of the Democratic electorate.
