David Hogg, of 1270 SAT fame, who was elected Democratic National Committee Vice-Chair earlier this year, saw his job evaporate on Wednesday, as the DNC voted overwhelmingly to hold new elections for the position.
“In a 294-99 vote that concluded Wednesday, DNC members agreed to move forward with redoing the contest earlier this year that elected Hogg and another Democrat, Malcolm Kenyatta, as vice chairs,” The Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/06/11/dnc-vote-david-hogg-democrats/">reported</a>. “The DNC will now vote from Thursday through Saturday — and then Sunday through Tuesday — to fill the two slots, which both men can seek again.”
In April, Hogg’s group, Leaders We Deserve, revealed it would spend $20 million to primary “out-of-touch, ineffective” incumbent House Democrats. Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Ken Martin said he gave Hogg an ultimatum, recalling, “As I&#8217;ve said to him, ‘If you want to challenge incumbents, you&#8217;re more than free to do that, but just not as an officer of the DNC, because our job is to be neutral arbiters. We can&#8217;t be both the referee and also the player at the same time. You have to make a decision.’”
Kalyn Free of Oklahoma, an activist who had aimed for the position of DNC Vice Chair, claimed the DNC broke its rules on gender diversity in the election that handed Hogg his seat. In May, the DNC Credentials Committee then agreed to hold new elections.
“Today, the DNC took its first steps to remove me from my position as Vice Chair At-Large. While this vote was based on how the DNC conducted its officers’ elections, which I had nothing to do with, it is also impossible to ignore the broader context of my work to reform the party which loomed large over this vote,”  Hogg said.
“I ran to be DNC Vice Chair to help make the Democratic Party better, not to defend an indefensible status quo that has caused voters in almost every demographic group to move away from us,” he added. “The DNC has pledged to remove me, and this vote has provided an avenue to fast-track that effort.”

Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Ken Martin became emotional during a recent call as he voiced his frustration with longtime activist and Vice Chair David Hogg, complaining that Hogg&#8217;s interference was preventing him from leading the party effectively.
POLITICO published a <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/06/08/martin-hogg-call-private-meeting-00393517">report</a> on Sunday sharing audio obtained from a May 15 Zoom meeting that included the DNC&#8217;s officers — and Martin could be heard criticizing Hogg for exacerbating divisions within the Democratic Party and complaining that made it impossible for him to implement any kind of cohesive strategy as the 2026 midterm elections approached.
&#8220;I’ll be very honest with you, for the first time in my 100 days on this job … the other night I said to myself for the first time, I don’t know if I wanna do this anymore,&#8221; Martin said.
The crux of Martin&#8217;s problem appeared to be Hogg&#8217;s promise to use the leftist organization Leaders We Deserve — where he serves as president — to funnel millions of dollars into primary campaigns against older and less progressive Democrats. But Hogg&#8217;s efforts to bring in fresh leadership have angered a number within the party — especially because, as an officer of the DNC, his primary job is to ensure that Democrats get elected — and have deepened the divisions that were already tearing at the fabric of the party nationwide.
Martin addressed Hogg directly during the meeting, saying, &#8220;No one knows who the hell I am, right? I’m trying to get my sea legs underneath of me and actually develop any amount of credibility so I can go out there and raise the money and do the job I need to put ourselves in a position to win. And again, I don’t think you intended this, but you essentially destroyed any chance I have to show the leadership that I need to. So it’s really frustrating.&#8221;
Martin is far from the only Democrat who voiced frustration with Hogg&#8217;s plan. Longtime strategist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-honeymoon-is-over-longtime-dem-strategist-trashes-contemptible-little-twerp-david-hogg">James Carville</a> referred to Hogg as a &#8220;contemptible little twerp&#8221; and suggested that donors could potentially sue him for working against party interests while being paid by the DNC.
According to POLITICO, Martin&#8217;s frustrations were simply that — and he has no plans to step aside despite any tensions with his vice chair: &#8220;I&#8217;m not going anywhere.&#8221;
&#8220;I took this job to fight Republicans, not Democrats. As I said when I was elected, our fight is not within the Democratic Party, our fight is and has to be solely focused on Donald Trump and the disastrous Republican agenda. That’s the work that I will continue to do every day,&#8221; he said.
Hogg did not comment on the confrontation.

A Democratic National Committee panel voted Monday to void the election of David Hogg as vice chair after a complaint that his election violated gender parity rules. 
The DNC credentials panel voted 13-2 to invalidate the elections of Hogg and Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta because of a complaint that women had been discriminated against during the vote. In response, Hogg suggested that the DNC was retaliating against him based on his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-dnc-leader-david-hogg-says-hell-push-primaries-against-some-in-his-own-party">calls</a> to primary members of his own party. 
&#8220;Today, the DNC took its first steps to remove me from my position as Vice Chair At-Large. While this vote was based on how the DNC conducted its officers’ elections, which I had nothing to do with, it is also impossible to ignore the broader context of my work to reform the party which loomed large over this vote,&#8221; Hogg said.
&#8220;I ran to be DNC Vice Chair to help make the Democratic Party better, not to defend an indefensible status quo that has caused voters in almost every demographic group to move away from us,” he added. “The DNC has pledged to remove me, and this vote has provided an avenue to fast-track that effort.” 
Credential panel member Christine Pelosi, daughter of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, <a href="https://x.com/sfpelosi/status/1922083770439803107" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> that the vote had nothing to do with Hogg&#8217;s comments, only procedural violations. That position was echoed by Kenyatta, who said that any reporter wanting to make the story about Hogg was “full of s***.”
“The credentials committee believed, as they stated, that they are remedying a procedural flaw. But doing so the way they did, is a slap in my face. I’m frustrated, but I’ll be ok,” Kenyatta <a href="https://x.com/malcolmkenyatta/status/1922110524059275417" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> on X. “However any story about this, that neatly places this into a narrative about David Hogg is wrong. I worked my ass off to get this role and have done the job every day since I’ve held it.”
The decision came after vice chair candidate Kalyn Free <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dei-at-the-dnc-could-force-david-hogg-out-as-vice-chair" target="_blank" rel="noopener">argued</a> that the February vote resulting in Hogg’s and Keynatta’s election had “discriminated against three women of color candidates.” After a tied committee vote on the issue in February, further debate resulted in a final vote to void the election based on Free&#8217;s complaint. Hogg and Kenyatta will continue to be vice chairs until a full vote of the DNC. 
Hogg has drawn the ire of top Democratic officials after he promised to spend $20 million through his Leaders We Deserve organization in primary challenges against Democrats he believes are failing. DNC Chair Ken Martin <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dnc-chief-warns-david-hogg-if-you-challenge-dem-incumbents-leave-dnc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that he was fine if Hogg wanted to organize primary challenges, but not as a member of the DNC.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) may soon move to boot newly-elected Vice Chair David Hogg following a complaint from Native American Kalyn Free, who lost the vice chair race to the Parkland school shooting survivor in February and is now claiming that the election had been discriminatory toward women of color.
The DNC, according to a report published Tuesday by Semafor, will meet virtually on May 12 to consider the challenge.

Free, in her complaint, called on the DNC to vacate the vice chair positions and hold two new elections, saying that the results of the previous &#8220;fatally flawed election that violated the DNC Charter and discriminated against three women of color candidates&#8221; should not be allowed to stand.
Hogg also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dnc-chief-warns-david-hogg-if-you-challenge-dem-incumbents-leave-dnc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">provoked</a> anger from the current DNC Chairman Ken Martin and others within the Democratic Party when he declared his intention to funnel some $20 million through his Leaders We Deserve organization into primary challenges against Democrats whose time he believes has passed. Martin issued a warning, saying that he would be wise to leave the DNC if his intent was to attack incumbent Democrats.
Longtime Democratic strategist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-honeymoon-is-over-longtime-dem-strategist-trashes-contemptible-little-twerp-david-hogg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James Carville</a> also took aim at Hogg over his primary plans, referring to him as a &#8220;contemptible little twerp&#8221; and suggesting the DNC should consider suing him if he insisted on working against the party from within.
&#8220;If I work for, if you work for NewsNation, you can’t promote CNN. That’s if you worked for somebody else,” Carville said. “You have a fiduciary duty to your employer, which anybody can understand. He’s being paid to run against other Democrats. I think it’s an outrage. I don’t know if I have standing, but I might give the DNC $10 and sue him.&#8221;

The move has unnerved some members of his party, including veteran Democrat strategist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-honeymoon-is-over-longtime-dem-strategist-trashes-contemptible-little-twerp-david-hogg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James Carville</a>, even as their leaders on Capitol Hill face <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/holy-toledo-the-bottom-has-dropped-out-for-democrat-leadership-cnn-pollster-says" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dismal</a> poll numbers.
&#8220;I have great respect for David Hogg. I think he&#8217;s an amazing young leader who&#8217;s done so much already to help move our movement forward,&#8221; Martin said in a video <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/democrats-vice-chair-gets-ultimatum-neutral-primaries-down-party-leadership" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published</a> by Fox News.

Hogg, a gun control advocate who was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dnc-elects-david-hogg-to-top-role-heres-a-look-at-some-of-his-insane-statements" target="_blank" rel="noopener">elected</a> to a DNC vice chair role in February, issued a combative statement after Martin made his comments.
&#8220;They’re trying to change the rules because I&#8217;m not currently breaking them,&#8221; Hogg <a href="https://x.com/davidhogg111/status/1915497313419616671" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;As we’re seeing law firms, tech companies, and so many others bowing to Trump, we all must use whatever position of power we have to fight back. And that’s exactly what I&#8217;m doing.&#8221;
He also <a href="https://x.com/davidhogg111/status/1915497324899447248" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, &#8220;The role of the DNC is to set the Presidential primary calendar, set the Presidential debate schedule, to help strengthen our state parties, play a key role in building our data infrastructure for the party, and to be the campaign in waiting for whoever the next Democratic nominee is. Nothing I&#8217;m doing is at odds with any of that.&#8221;
Martin said he asked all DNC officers to sign and abide by a neutrality pledge. He noted that almost every member did.
&#8220;Let me be unequivocal: No DNC officer should ever attempt to influence the outcome of a primary election, whether on behalf of an incumbent or challenger. &#8230; Voters should decide who our primary nominees are, not DNC leadership,&#8221; Martin said.

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville ripped into newly-elected Democratic National Committee (DNC) Vice Chair David Hogg, referring to the younger activist as a &#8220;contemptible little twerp&#8221; and even advising the DNC to sue him.
Carville, who made an appearance on NewsNation on Wednesday, told anchor Chris Cuomo that his particular complaint was Hogg&#8217;s recent announcement regarding plans to direct millions of dollars toward primaries against incumbent Democrats.
Hogg, who also serves as president of an organization called Leaders We Deserve, said that the group planned to funnel some $20 million into challenging incumbent Democrats — and Carville took issue with Hogg for what he said looked as though he was putting more effort into attacking his own party than helping expand it into a broader coalition.

&#8220;Let me make a point about Bernie and AOC. Bernie’s run for president twice. He’s lost twice. AOC and her kind, and this guy, David Hogg, they want to run against other Democrats. They don’t run against Republicans,&#8221; Carville added. &#8220;When you beat a Republican, come back and see me, and I will be impressed!&#8221;

David Hogg, freshly minted into leadership at the Democratic National Committee, is warning that he plans to push primaries against some members of his own party.
Hogg co-founded and is president of Leaders We Deserve, a group dedicated to electing young progressives, which is launching a push to primary House Democrats they view as &#8220;out-of-touch&#8221; and &#8220;ineffective.&#8221;
The $20 million effort will reportedly attempt to oust House Democrats in deep blue districts and elect younger leaders who will fight Trump more aggressively. The group will also spend money on races for state legislatures, Hogg <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/15/us/politics/david-hogg-dnc-leaders-we-deserve.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
Hogg, 25, was elected as vice chair of the DNC less than three months ago. The young progressive activist initially made a name for himself after he survived the deadly school shooting at Parkland High School back in 2018, often going on profane rants demanding gun control.
The move by a member of the party brass to oust current Democratic lawmakers is an unprecedented one and is sure to face pushback from other Democrats.
“This is going to anger a lot of people,” Hogg <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/15/us/politics/david-hogg-dnc-leaders-we-deserve.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> The New York Times, adding that he predicts a &#8220;smear campaign against me.&#8221;
“People say they want change in the Democratic Party, but really they want change so long as it doesn’t potentially endanger their position of power,” he told the paper. “That’s not actually wanting change. That’s selfishness.”
Hogg also reportedly refused to sign a “neutrality policy,” asking party leaders not to engage in any activity that would “call into question their impartiality and evenhandedness,” either in “their D.N.C. capacity and in their personal capacity.”
The Democratic Party has struggled to find its footing and a cohesive message that resonates with the public after the thrashing candidates up and down the ballot took in the November election.
Some of the internal strife involves the younger generation of progressives bucking older party leadership, urging policies further to the left and a more aggressive approach against the Trump administration.
“What we are not saying here is, ‘Oh, you’re old, you need to go,’” Hogg said of older elected Democrats. “What we’re saying is we need to make room for a new generation to step up and help make sure that we have the people that are most acutely impacted by a lot of the issues that we are legislating on — that are actually going to live to see the consequences of this.”
Hogg did not name any specific Democrats his group is looking to unseat yet.

Hogg became a high-profile gun control proponent after surviving the 2018 Parkland high school shooting in Florida in which 17 people were killed.
In his bid for DNC vice chair, Hogg was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/far-left-walz-endorses-fellow-radical-david-hogg-for-dnc-vice-chair" target="_blank" rel="noopener">endorsed</a> by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the Democratic Party&#8217;s failed vice-presidential candidate in the 2024 election.

After Hogg was elected as DNC vice chair, Hogg&#8217;s critics took a moment to point out some of his prior comments.

On Friday, failed vice-presidential candidate and hard-Left Minnesota Governor Tim Walz endorsed radical activist David Hogg, who made himself famous after the 2018 Parkland, Florida school shooting, to be the Democratic National Committee’s Vice Chair.

In early December, Hogg, 24, told reporters he was considering running for a top leadership position in the Democratic National Committee (DNC). He <a href="https://x.com/davidhogg111/status/1864756688764703107">stated</a>:

I think we need a new generation in the DNC, if this election has taught us nothing else. I think we need an intergenerational coalition as a party. &#8230;. the thing that I&#8217;ve realized more than anything is that we have a number of problems in the party, but I think the main one overall is that we would rather live in a comfortable delusion than an uncomfortable reality. And I think what the party needs to do is open its eyes and take its fingers out of its ears basically.

Asked what the “delusion” was, he replied:

Not that we inherently agree with them, but I think so much of the issue that we have as a party right now is a fund &#8211; a kind of condescending tone that we have in a number of ways where we&#8217;re seen increasingly as elitist, as out of touch. And I think there are real conversations that we need to have. And we also need to have &#8211; help more, not just young people, but people from normal backgrounds run for office.

He then praised Walz, saying, “I think Tim Walz was actually a great example of this, of running as a teacher and gaining all the experience that he had to out &#8211; massively outperform, even in a Trump-held district, right?”
Hogg has a history of outlandish statements and self-promotion; in June 2022, he accused Florida GOP Sen. Marco Rubio of avoiding him because Hogg “triggered” him, writing in a later-deleted tweet, “Rubio staff said I can&#8217;t meet with him or his staff because I &#8216;trigger&#8217; him. I just wanna have a conversation. Please meet with me @marcorubio I just want to figure out how we can stop these things from happening. We have to end the continuous debate and find what we can agree on.”

Far-left activist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/david-hogg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">David Hogg</a> is reportedly considering running for a top leadership position in the Democratic National Committee (DNC) because he believes he can fix the party&#8217;s problem of talking down to voters.
Politico reported that Hogg has told reporters that he is “seriously considering” running for DNC Vice Chair.
The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/david-hogg-quits-progressive-mypillow-competitor-two-months-after-launch">failed pillow salesman</a>, who has made a name for himself by aggressively calling for taking away American&#8217;s Second Amendment rights, appeared on CNN Thursday morning where he addressed the report.
&#8220;Well, honestly, I&#8217;m considering it because I think that, one, obviously, I think we need a new generation in the DNC, if this election has taught us nothing else,&#8221; Hogg said. &#8220;I think we need an intergenerational coalition as a party.&#8221;
He claimed that as he has traveled the country, he realized that the party has &#8220;a number of problems.&#8221;

A Chinese immigrant who is running for U.S. Congress slammed far-left gun control activist David Hogg this week at gun control debate, telling him that he needed to go to communist China to see what the impacts of total <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/gun-control" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gun control</a> are.
Lily Tang Williams, who is running as a Republican in New Hampshire&#8217;s 2nd Congressional District, confronted Hogg on Wednesday at Dartmouth University.
&#8220;I am a Chinese immigrant who survived communism,&#8221; she began. &#8220;And under Mao, 40 million people were starving to death after he sold the communism to them. And 20 million people died, murdered, during his cultural revolution.&#8221;
&#8220;So my question to you, David, is that can you guarantee me, a gun owner, tonight, our government in the U.S., in D.C., will never, never become a tyrannical government?&#8221; she asked. &#8220;Can you guarantee that to me?&#8221;
&#8220;There&#8217;s no way I can ever guarantee that any government will not be tyrannical,&#8221; Hogg admitted.
&#8220;Well, then the debate on gun control is over because I will never give up my guns,&#8221; she responded. &#8220;Never. Never. And you should go to China to see how gun control works for dictatorship of the CCP.&#8221;
