Comedian Dave Chappelle is getting ripped for telling an audience in Saudi Arabia, where mocking the royal family, Islam, or the government can land you in prison, “It’s easier to talk here than in America.”
“Right now in America, they say that if you talk about Charlie Kirk, that you’ll get canceled,” Chappelle, a practicing Muslim,  <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/10/02/world/middleeast/saudi-comedy-festival-riyadh-free-speech.html">declared</a> at the Riyadh Comedy Festival before a crowd of 6,000 people. “I don’t know if that’s true, but I’m gonna find out.”
Chappelle has been viciously critical of Israel, <a href="applewebdata://A52DFCE2-01FF-40DE-85E7-E5F7A517E32C/v">saying</a> in May 2024 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, “If you are in America, the best thing you can do is to make American Jews feel safe, feel loved and supported so they can know they don’t have to support a country that is committing genocide just to feel safe.” He continued his anti-Israel rhetoric in Riyadh, saying he feared returning to America, because, “They’re going to do something to me so that I can’t say what I want to say,” then adding he would alert his fans by using a code phrase: “It’s got to be something I would never say in practice, so if I actually say it, you’ll know never to listen to anything else I say after that. Here’s the phrase: I stand with Israel.”
Critics didn’t hold back. Author Dumisani Washington slammed Chappelle for his apparent hypocrisy: “A Black, multimillionaire comedian goes to Saudi Arabia, where there are African slaves, and complains about his lack of civil rights in America. Only a Westerner could be so privileged yet so deluded.”

Even Bill Maher, not exactly a bastion of right-wing thinking, ridiculed Chappelle on HBO’s “Real Time,” saying,
“It’s not true. Do your hunk on Muhammad, Dave.”
This isn’t Chappelle “punching up.” This is Chappelle indulging in moral relativism at its worst — throwing stones at a country that made him rich, while cozying up to a regime that jails dissidents and executes critics.

For years, we&#8217;ve been hearing about the power and magic of comedians who are not just telling jokes, they are speaking “truth to power.” They&#8217;re going for the &#8220;clapter,&#8221; meaning not just laughs, but approval and agreement from the audience on social and political issues. 
We’ve been told comedians are the only ones willing to say what no one else will say. They&#8217;re the ones who are breaking open the Overton Window, who are really saying the unsayable. And traditionally, comedians have done just that. Traditionally, comedians violate taboos because when you violate a taboo, it&#8217;s either inherently funny and transgressive. Even if it’s not funny, it might shatter or shock your sensibilities.
And the natural reaction when someone does something transgressive is to laugh. Comedians have always had this sort of role in society, and sometimes that role can be properly directed because the things they&#8217;re attacking are worthwhile to criticize or make fun of. But sometimes the transgressivism of these comedians is really just about the clicks and money. It&#8217;s about faux transgressivism because when it comes down to it, they are perfectly willing to take money from some of the world&#8217;s most repressive human beings and then crap on America in the process.
So Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr, Andrew Schulz, and a bunch of other top-shelf American comedians went over to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the Riyadh Comedy Festival. Now that sounds like an Orwellian contradiction in terms. The Riyadh Comedy Festival sounds sort of like the North Korean Dance Festival.

It&#8217;s ridiculous what the Saudi monarchy is attempting to do right now. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is attempting to create tourist traps in Saudi Arabia because, effectively, the country has no economic resources other than oil. Oil remains the massive driver of its economy. Salman is trying to diversify. He&#8217;s trying to get into tech. He&#8217;s trying to get into travel and tourism, all of which is fine and dandy.
But let&#8217;s be very clear. Saudi Arabia is an unbelievably repressive country. It remains an unbelievably repressive country today, except for certain touristy areas that are being opened to Westerners so they can come and spend their money. So now a bunch of comedians are apparently so brave when there are no consequences to their bravery, when the only consequences they face are money and applause.
They’re not so brave when they go over to Saudi Arabia and abide by every single rule set by the Saudi government for millions of dollars. 
So Dave Chappelle, a faux brave person, goes to Saudi Arabia and says, “Right now in America, they say that if you talk about Charlie Kirk, you&#8217;ll get canceled. I don&#8217;t know if that&#8217;s true, but I&#8217;m going to find out.”
Wow. Look at the bravery of that man. He&#8217;s going over to Saudi Arabia to rip on Charlie Kirk and make jokes about him. Just look at that bravery. Perfectly happy to take the money from the repressive Islamic dictatorship and rip on Charlie Kirk in the process.
What a brave man. What a truly brave man. 
According to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/10/02/world/middleeast/saudi-comedy-festival-riyadh-free-speech.html">The New York Times</a>:
<blockquote>[Chappelle] was performing in Riyadh at the same time as a divisive free speech debate was roiling the United States. … Mr. Chappelle has talked frequently about being canceled after an uproar caused by his jokes mocking trans people. But in Riyadh, he also took aim at the recent suspension of Mr. Kimmel.
Like other comedians at the event who said they felt muzzled by American political correctness, Mr. Chappelle reveled in making uncouth jokes in Saudi Arabia. Yet he overlooked an eight-year crackdown that has led to many of the country’s writers, businesspeople, activists, clerics and social media influencers being arrested.</blockquote>
So he goes to Saudi Arabia, of all places, to rip on the United States because Jimmy Kimmel was suspended from the air for five minutes.
That’s where he&#8217;s putting his ire. What a brave person. 
And speaking of brave people, Bill Burr is out there saying, “Free Luigi! Kill the rich!” The same very wealthy Bill Burr, who believes that the systems of the United States are deeply corrupt, so corrupt that he is a man speaking “truth to power” when he appears on every late-night television show to the hoots and hollers of a bunch of morons in Manhattan, and flies to Riyadh to pick up a giant check.
Burr talked about how he found out that Saudi Arabia is made up of people just like us because, you know, there&#8217;s a Starbucks over there.
Great job, Bill. You really are a warrior for truth. What a brave man. Truly an incredible person.
Here’s what he said after the festival:
<blockquote>And like my whole idea of Saudi Arabia is what I&#8217;ve seen, like on the news. I think I&#8217;m going to land, you know, and everybody&#8217;s going to be screaming, “Death to America!” And they&#8217;re gonna have like, machetes and want to, like, chop my head off.
Right? Because this is what I&#8217;ve been fed about that part of the world. Right. When they first went to set it up over there, the rules on what they had above what you could say and what you couldn&#8217;t say in Saudi Arabia, the people running the festivals were like, &#8220;All right. Well, man, that&#8217;s game, set, match. If this is like all you can talk about, and you want some good comedians, like this isn&#8217;t going to work.&#8221;
And then, to their credit, they said, “All right, what do we got to do?” And they just negotiated it all the way down to like, “You can talk about anything, you know, other than a couple things,” which was basically, you know … religion, don&#8217;t make fun of the royals. And other than that … everything was like open. The royals loved the show. Everyone was happy. The people who were doing the festival were thrilled. And, yeah, it was just this great, positive thing.</blockquote>
Wow. So much bravery.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/comedian">Comedian</a> Michelle Buteau went after <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/dave-chappelle">Dave Chappelle</a> for daring to joke about <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender">transgender</a> people. 
The 47-year-old New Jersey native, who has appeared in Hollywood films and reality TV shows, made the remarks during her new Netflix comedy special, &#8220;Michelle Buteau: A Buteau-ful Mind at Radio City Music Hall.&#8221;
Buteau’s set included a graphic joke about her &#8220;beautiful, black, lesbian friend,” which she submitted as an example of how comedians should joke about people who fall under the LGBT acronym.
&#8220;What I’m saying is it can be done. It can be done. We can tell jokes and stories and not disparage a whole community,&#8221; Buteau said, per <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/01/entertainment/michelle-buteau-dave-chappelle/index.html">CNN</a>. &#8220;We can do that, we can make it funny. You just have to work at it, right? So if you guys ever run into Dave Chappelle, can you let him know that sh**?”
Buteau said she doesn’t think she will ever run into Chappelle “because he is the GOAT.”
“And he is the GOAT, if that means going off about trans people. Dave, it’s not funny. It’s dangerous,” the comedian went on. “I can’t believe somebody would make millions and millions of dollars for making people feel unsafe. That is so wild to me.”
Buteau said she wants “to make millions and millions of dollars for making people feel safe, seen, secure, heard, and entertained.”
Chappelle was ripped in 2021 for making jokes that the mainstream media and others deemed “transphobic” in his Netflix comedy special “The Closer.” 
Leftists were so enraged that one transgender employee reportedly organized a walkout in protest. That person was later <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dave-chappelle-wins-grammy-award-for-netflix-special-that-enraged-trans-people">fired</a> for “sharing confidential, commercially sensitive information outside the company.”
In his Netflix special, Chappelle claimed to be “team TERF,” an acronym for trans-exclusionary radical feminist. He defended J.K. Rowling’s stance that biological sex that men cannot be women.
Chappelle went on to win a Grammy Award for “The Closer.”

Comedian <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/dave-chappelle" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dave Chappelle</a> accused Israel this week of committing a genocide in Gaza while performing a show in the Middle East.
The National <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/arts-culture/music-stage/2024/05/24/dave-chappelle-israel-gaza-war/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that the 50-year-old, who is Muslim, claimed in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, that what was happening in Gaza was a result of anti-Semitism in the West.
Chappelle&#8217;s remarks come after Palestinian Islamic terrorists in Hamas launched an unprecedented terrorist on October 7 against Israel, murdering 1,200+ people, wounding 5,300+, kidnapping hundreds, and engaging in a campaign of rape against women and girls.
“What is happening in Gaza is a direct result of anti-Semitism in the West,” he claimed. “If you are in America, the best thing you can do is to make American Jews feel safe, feel loved and supported so they can know they don&#8217;t have to support a country that is committing genocide just to feel safe.”
During his show, a DJ played a song titled &#8220;My Blood is Palestinian,&#8221; and people in the crowd screamed &#8220;Free Palestine!&#8221; during the show.
The New York Times previously reported that Chappelle requires everyone in the audience to surrender their phones at his shows so he cannot be recorded.
Reports surfaced just a few weeks after the October 7 massacre that he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dave-chappelle-claims-his-remarks-about-israel-were-misquoted-refuses-to-reveal-what-he-said" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> stood up for students who were facing fewer job prospects after they cheered on the slaughter of Israelis at the hands of the genocidal Palestinian terrorists.

Some in the audience reportedly shouted “Free Palestine,” triggering some fans to get up and leave the event.
He later reportedly tried to draw a false moral equivalence between Israel’s policies and Hamas’ heinous terrorist attacks.
One man who attended the event told the Daily Mail: “The audience was cheering Chappelle on during his tirade. I was sick. We were sick. I turned to my friends and wife and said I think it is time to go.”
“We walked out and met up with many other Jews leaving the show,” he continued. “Never in my life have I felt so unsafe and so fearful of what I was witnessing.”
Dave Chappelle attempted to address the controversy at the time by saying: “Right now, I’m in trouble because the Jewish community is upset. But I cannot express this enough: No matter what you read about that show in Boston, you will never see quotation marks around anything I said. They don’t know what I said.”

Comedian <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/dave-chappelle">Dave Chappelle</a> is once again facing backlash from leftist critics for making jokes about the trans community in his newest <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/netflix">Netflix</a> comedy special.
The outrage stems from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/comedy">comments</a> Chappelle made in &#8220;The Dreamer,&#8221; which was released on December 31.
During one bit, the 50-year-old shares a story about meeting <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jim-carrey">Jim Carrey</a> on the set of the movie &#8220;The Man on the Moon&#8221; (1999). Chappelle explained how Carrey stayed in character as Andy Kaufman even when cameras weren’t rolling and insisted that everyone on set address him as “Andy” at all times. The comedian equated this type of method acting as being similar to how trans-identifying people behave.
&#8220;I wanted to meet Jim Carrey and I had to pretend this n***a was Andy Kaufman all afternoon. And he was clearly Jim Carrey,&#8221; Chappelle said. &#8220;I could look at him and I could see he was Jim Carrey. Anyway, I say all that to say that&#8217;s how trans people make me feel.&#8221;
The comedian peppered in several other jokes about gender identity and preferred pronouns throughout “The Dreamer,” just like he did in his previous comedy special “The Closer,” which made headlines for the same reasons.
A reviewer from Rolling Stone complained about Chappelle being “obsessed with trans people.” 
&#8220;It’s unfortunate that Chappelle’s The Dreamer is, like some of his prior Netflix specials, obsessively fixated on the trans community, because it’s not an area he particularly excels at, resorting to puerile premises and punchlines,” writer Marlow Stern <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-reviews/dave-chappelle-the-dreamer-netflix-trans-jokes-attack-chris-rock-will-smith-1234938580/">wrote</a>.
“There are, of course, ways to artfully tell a trans joke — take Michelle Wolf’s recent Netflix special It’s Great to Be Here — but Chappelle is apparently incapable of having most of his bits extend beyond mocking genitalia or pronouns. It’s not just tired but uninspired,&#8221; he added.
Variety editor William Earl <a href="https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/dave-chappelle-the-dreamer-netflix-trans-jokes-1235852073/">agreed</a> that Chappelle has an &#8220;obsession with mocking trans people” and suggested he should try “some new material.”
&#8220;Dave Chappelle’s New Netflix Special Proves He’s Learned Nothing,&#8221; Sean McCarthy from The Daily Beast lamented. 
&#8220;It feels so frustrating to sit and watch comedians with the stature of Chappelle and [Ricky] Gervais devote so much of their time and energy to bullying the LGBTQ+ community when they could be doing anything else on stage. The Hollywood writers strike silenced late-night comedians for a whopping 148 days. No stale jokes protecting the Biden administration and ignoring the reality all around us.
Other comedians filled that void, delivering jokes that not only made us laugh but told essential truths. And comedy doesn’t land without truth.
Call them the comedy prophets.
Dave Chappelle had a relatively quiet 2023, by his standards. He didn’t release any new incendiary specials or spark fresh calls for cancellation. He did ruffle feathers, however, by saying what everyone but San Francisco Mayor London Breed acknowledges.
In May, Chappelle <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dave-chappelle-torches-san-francisco-while-performing-there-what-the-f-happened-to-this-place" target="_blank" rel="noopener">played the Golden City and roasted</a> the once beautiful mecca.

“What the f*** happened to this place?” he asked the crowd. He told them how he saw a man defecating outside a local restaurant. He called the city, “half-Glee, half zombie movie” and ended with this kicker.
“Y’all [n-words] need a Batman!”
Would a non-striking Stephen Colbert ever utter a line like that, with or without the expletive?
Rob Schneider spent the year performing stand-up and speaking truth to power with his gags and <a href="https://twitter.com/RobSchneider?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">X account</a>. The “Saturday Night Live” veteran once called himself a Democrat, but the party’s attacks on liberty and free speech relieved him of that label.

Sometimes he dropped the funny to make his points. For example, he lashed out at Portland State University <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rob-schneider-unloads-on-higher-education-a-closed-system-patrolled-by-thought-police" target="_blank" rel="noopener">for drowning out speakers</a> who disagreed with the radical trans agenda.
“Universities in America no longer promote learning or allow debate. It’s a closed system of thought run by thought police … Authoritarianism dressed up as tolerance.”
Comedian Nate Bargatze is one of the cleaner comics on the scene, so we don’t expect him to skewer societal narratives like other stand-ups. He subversively did just that during his “SNL” hosting stint.
Yes, that far-Left sketch series.
The comic, who is white, played a chef who won a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEOZ3I2zk1E" target="_blank" rel="noopener">soul food bake-off competition</a> against a black competitor and repeatedly apologized for winning. The sketch set up cultural expectations while delivering big laughs.
Looking back at the sketch, given Harvard President Claudine Gay&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-escalates-harvard-probe-to-examine-plagiarism-claims" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dramatic fall from grace</a> makes it even funnier.

Comedian Ryan Long does nothing but share awkward truths on stage and via his robust YouTube channel. His 2023 skits involving the “n-word” card explored the nuclear-grade offensive behind the word in ways that were funny and revealing. 
Perhaps his best sketch came from tragedy. Days after Hamas’ barbaric Oct. 7 attack on Israeli citizens Long uncorked a video about a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0Pw_TxBe7w&amp;t=28s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">conflicted actor’s response to the atrocities.</a>
“I honestly don’t know who to post. Usually, it’s easy. BLM? Bang! Ukraine? Bang! COVID? Bang,” Jack says. “People are probably texting each other right now, wondering where my statement is.”
“I’ve never missed a stance,” he added, noting how the “right” virtue signal Tweet can land him gigs.
It’s brilliant on so many levels.

Podcast giant Joe Rogan continued his willingness to say what needs to be said in 2023. The “News Radio” alum took a sobering look at the Democratic Party and <a href="https://thehill.com/video/joe-rogan-trashes-bidens-2024-chances-watch/9215263/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">came away unimpressed</a>.
“What are they gonna do with Kamala Harris? Put her on the moon?” he cracked, acknowledging the Vice President’s lousy poll numbers and word salad speeches. If President Joe Biden died, she would become the president “which is f***ing wild when you hear that lady talk.”
Another “SNL” alum proved his mettle this year.
Jim Breuer is routinely attacked as being alt-right or worse for questioning pandemic lockdowns and poking fun at the current commander in chief. He lost his cool over the accusations in September, <a href="https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/jim-breuer-political-comic-biden/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defending his approach</a> to comedy in the process.
“If I talk about [President Joe] Biden fumbling around on a stage, does that piss you off because you’re a Democrat or a liberal? It should piss you off as a human being, as a human being. If you see some banana walking on stage and they don’t know where it’s at, or someone who can’t speak, how is that political? 
Comedian Matt Rife, a Gen Z star who always speaks his mind, slammed Snowflake Nation following his Netflix special’s November release. The “Natural Selection” showcase featured a domestic abuse joke, a riff Rife framed as testing the crowd’s tolerance for rude material.
The de facto social media firestorm erupted, and Rife responded with an “apology” that steered respondents to a helmet company to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/comedian-matt-rife-remains-unapologetic-for-having-a-sense-of-humor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">protect them from naughty jokes</a>. It wasn’t a one-off.
Rife also torched woke white people’s willingness to humiliate themselves for social justice causes.
One TikTok bit found him mocking white liberals for appeasing black strangers. First, they’ll brag about voting for President Barack Obama. Twice. Then, they’ll claim that Jesus was black. The coup de grace?
“Well, Madea’s my favorite franchise. Gotcha! Liar! Madea is nobody’s favorite franchise, not even black people’s,” he said.
Tyler Fischer of “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/lady-ballers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lady Ballers</a>” fame capped the year with his <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsJwoVqYeTg&amp;t=171s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">brilliant Dr. Jorden Peterson impression … with a twist.</a> Fischer’s December video “Jordan Peterson: Master Class” imagines a newly woke Canadian professor dressing down some “cis white males” and praising Black Lives Matter.
“Can somebody get me an emotional support cat to pet please? If you’re petting a cat, it’s not even consensual. Forget that. Consider that rape as far as I’m concerned,” he added.

Rife may have summed up the comedy prophets’ approach during a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/comedian-matt-rife-remains-unapologetic-for-having-a-sense-of-humor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recent chat with, who else, the real Jordan Peterson.</a>
The comedian shared why he posted that snarky faux apology and why it actually earned him more fans.
&#8220;I also thought that most of the outrage was happening just on Twitter and TikTok. Like, Instagram’s a far more personal app I think. And so the fact that people even saw that and took it to other platforms I thought was insane, but also proved my point even more that people who don’t even like my comedy or have never even heard of me, saw the outrage and my response to it and went, oh, that’s actually funny. It actually gained me a lot of fans because most of the world, I would feel confident in saying, the majority of people are sick of this s***.&#8221;

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/dave-chappelle" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dave Chappelle</a> attempted to address a controversy he created last week when some fans got up and left one of his shows over remarks that he made about Israel after more than 1,400 people were murdered there earlier this month.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Chappelle made the remarks during a performance in Boston last Thursday, a claim that a spokesperson for Chappelle denied, saying that he was not in Boston at the time. The New York Post reported that he had a show listed in Boston on Thursday among the list of dates that he would be performing.
However, speaking to a packed crowd of more than 20,000 people at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Thursday night, Chappelle said that something was said at his show in Boston that caused controversy — thus acknowledging that the statement from his spokesperson was not truthful.
“Right now, I’m in trouble because the Jewish community is upset,” Chappelle said. “But I cannot express this enough: No matter what you read about that show in Boston, you will never see quotation marks around anything I said. They don’t know what I said.”
The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/26/arts/dave-chappelle-israel-hamas.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Chappelle requires everyone in the audience to surrender their phones at his shows so he cannot be recorded.
“Sorry,” Chappelle later told the audience about them not being able to have their phones with them. “I don’t want the Jews to know what I said.”
Chappelle claimed that all the reports were &#8220;heresay&#8221; and claimed that he was &#8220;misquoted all over the world,&#8221; yet he refused to say what his remarks were.
At that point, a leftist stood up in the crowd and began shouting: “Free Palestine.”

“Please, please, miss,” Chappelle responded. “Listen. Don’t start it up or I’m going to be in the news cycle for another week. This thing that’s happening in the Middle East is bigger than everybody.”
He tried to equivocate both sides that it was a &#8220;nightmare&#8221; for Israel and for the Palestinians and that people should pray for both sides.
“There’s only two kinds of people in the world: people who love other people and the people that have things to make them afraid to love other people,&#8221; he claimed. “And remember that every dead person is a dead person.”
During his appearance in Boston, Chappelle <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fans-leave-dave-chappelle-show-after-attacks-on-israel-draw-cheers-we-were-sick" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> stood up for students who were facing fewer job prospects after they cheered on the slaughter of Israelis at the hands of the genocidal Palestinian terrorists.
A member of the audience was apparently stern with Chappelle, telling him to shut up, which sparked an “emotional response” from him attacking Israel for cutting off supplies to the area — even though Israel is not required to provide supplies to terrorists.
Some in the audience reportedly shouted “Free Palestine,” triggering some fans to get up and leave the event.
He later reportedly tried to draw a false moral equivalence between Israel’s policies and Hamas’ heinous terrorist attacks.
One man who attended the event told the Daily Mail: “The audience was cheering Chappelle on during his tirade. I was sick. We were sick. I turned to my friends and wife and said I think it is time to go.”
“We walked out and met up with many other Jews leaving the show,” he continued. “Never in my life have I felt so unsafe and so fearful of what I was witnessing.”

Chappelle&#8217;s remarks come after the terrorists launched an unprecedented terrorist attack two weeks ago, murdering more than 1,400 Israelis — including 30+ Americans — wounded 3,200+ and took over 200 hostages.

Fans Leave Dave Chappelle Show After Attacks On Israel Draw Cheers: ‘We Were Sick’

USA Soccer’s Megan Rapinoe mocked opponents of men competing in women’s sports, calling their concern “bulls***.”
Rapinoe attacked comedian Dave Chappelle, tennis legend Martina Navratilova, and ESPN’s Sage Steele in her diatribe from an <a href="https://time.com/6293102/megan-rapinoe-world-cup-2023-interview-retirement/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview with TIME</a>.
 “We as a country are trying to legislate away people’s full humanity,” Rapinoe snapped. “It’s particularly frustrating when women’s sports is weaponized. Oh, now we care about fairness? Now we care about women’s sports? That’s total bulls***. And show me all the trans people who are nefariously taking advantage of being trans in sports. It’s just not happening.”
“The most amazing thing about sports is that you play and you’re playing with other people, and you’re having fun and you’re being physically active,” she preached. “We’re putting this all through the lens of competition and winning. But we’re talking about people’s lives. That’s where we have to start.&#8221;
“I don’t want to mince words about it,” she carped. “Dave Chappelle making jokes about trans people directly leads to violence, whether it’s verbal or otherwise, against trans people. When Martina or Sage or whoever are talking about this, people aren’t hearing it just in the context of elite sports. They’re saying, ‘The rest of my life, this is how I’m going to treat trans people.’”
Asked if she would embrace a biological man identifying as a woman on the U.S. women’s soccer team, even if a biological woman lost her place to him, Rapinoe declared, “Absolutely,” adding, “‘You’re taking a ‘real’ woman’s place,’ that’s the part of the argument that’s still extremely transphobic. I see trans women as real women. What you’re saying automatically in the argument—you’re sort of telling on yourself already—is you don’t believe these people are women. Therefore, they’re taking the other spot. I don’t feel that way.”
In 2022, President Biden awarded Rapinoe the highest civilian honor in the U.S., the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
In March, Rapinoe ripped H.R. 734, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act.
H.R. 734, which wanted to ban transgender-identifying males from competing in female sports, stated that “sex shall be recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.”
“Today, politicians in DC are claiming to ‘protect women&#8217;s sports’ by pushing a trans &amp; intersex sports ban,” Rapinoe tweeted. “Call your Congressional rep today to say women&#8217;s sports need protection from unequal pay, sexual abuse &amp; lack of resources, NOT from trans kids.”
In the <a href="https://www.si.com/sports/2023/04/10/sue-bird-megan-rapinoe-among-40-athletes-letter-opposing-federal-anti-trans-sports-ban" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> to House legislators considering the bill, 40 athletes, including Rapinoe, wrote, “Our deepest hope is that transgender and intersex kids will never have to feel the isolation, exclusion and othering that H.R. 734 is seeking to enshrine into law.”

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/wanda-sykes">Wanda Sykes</a> isn’t happy with her longtime friend and colleague <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/dave-chappelle">Dave Chappelle</a> making jokes about transgender people.
Chappelle came under fire when his Netflix special “The Closer” came out in 2021. In it, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/comedy">comedian</a> claimed to be “Team TERF,” an acronym for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender">trans-exclusionary</a> radical feminist. He also defended “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling, who has been criticized for stating that biological sex is a fact and that men cannot be women.
His statements caused a national uproar and demands for Chappelle to be canceled. Employees at Netflix staged a walkout in protest. 
During a recent interview with <a href="https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/wanda-sykes-netflix-special-dave-chappelle-will-smith-trans-rights-1235622270/">Variety</a>, Sykes discussed jokes she made about “inclusive” bathroom policies which allow people to enter whichever bathroom they want depending on the gender they identify with.
“I knew that it’s such a delicate issue to talk about. I’m not trans, but they have my support, 100%,” Sykes told the publication.  
“I wanted to find something where I can shine some light on what they’re going through, to show how just stupid and hateful really it is. I was in a woman’s bathroom one time, and I was like, ‘Who would want to come in here anyway? It was like, I kind of want to go check out the men’s room. Sometimes, it’s even cleaner.’ And that’s how that whole bit started. I’ve always just been grossed out by bathrooms.”
When asked if her bit “balances out” what Chappelle said about transgender-related topics, Sykes claimed the comedian did damage to transgender people.
“Um, I don’t know about balancing it out, because I think what he said was so hurtful and damaging to the trans community. So yeah, the scale is still tipped, I will say, in their favor. But I know I wanted to say something, because so much has been said on that platform,” she said, adding that she’s hoping to fall “on the other side of it.”
When asked if she talked to Chappelle since the drama with “The Closer,” Sykes said she still “loves” him but hasn’t seen him since the show was released. 
“I haven’t had a chance to talk to him. If our paths did cross, I totally would say something,” she told Variety. 
Sykes also said she takes it as a “compliment” when people call her a “woke” comedian.
“It’s pretty funny. If you want to give me the label of a ‘woke comic,’ that’s fine. That’s great. What makes me laugh is that they say that like it’s an insult: ‘Oh, they’re woke.’ Thank you!” she said.

Comedian Dave Chappelle roasted <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/san-francisco">San Francisco</a> during a show late last week at the Masonic over the city&#8217;s rapid decline caused by electing woke local officials.
Chappelle&#8217;s remarks were revealed in a SFGate <a href="https://www.sfgate.com/sf-culture/article/dave-chappelle-masonic-comedy-review-18097136.php">report</a> from Dan Gentile, who says that he went to the show and witnessed Chappelle&#8217;s &#8220;barrage of transphobic dog whistles.&#8221;
The report claimed that Chappelle&#8217;s comedy had taken &#8220;a dark turn toward transphobia&#8221; in recent years after he &#8220;he identified as TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist), declared that gender is an unmalleable fact and insinuated that the struggle for LGBTQ and Black rights are at odds.&#8221;
Chappelle&#8217;s &#8220;disdain for present-day San Francisco&#8221; was &#8220;crystal clear,&#8221; the report said.
On the subject of the rampant homelessness in the city, Chappelle reportedly asked, “What the f*** happened to this place?”
The report whined that Chappelle mocked a situation in which a homeless person defecated in front of a restaurant he was eating at in the Bay Area earlier in the week, claiming that Chappelle &#8220;has said plenty of irresponsible and dangerous things.&#8221;
The report complained that Chappelle had &#8220;insulated himself from criticism with a combination of incredible talent and incredible wealth&#8221; like Joe Rogan and Elon Musk.
The writer claimed that Chappelle&#8217;s jokes involving transgender individuals were &#8220;insensitive&#8221; and &#8220;just plain lazy&#8221; because, the writer claimed, Chappelle was &#8220;relying on tropes rather than the comedian’s incisive wit.&#8221;
The report noted that Chappelle repeatedly used the transgender community as a &#8220;punchline&#8221; throughout the performance and complained that &#8220;these dog whistles&#8221; had &#8220;spoiled&#8221; the night — even though the show was sold out and the &#8220;the amount of laughter in the room&#8221; proved otherwise.
Chappelle <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dave-chappelle-wins-grammy-award-for-netflix-special-that-enraged-trans-people">won</a> a Grammy award earlier this year for best comedy album for his Netflix special “The Closer,” the show that sparked immense anger from leftists because he went after the transgender community.
Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. attempted to quell any potential backlash from leftists over Chappelle winning the award by noting that viewers are responsible for picking the winners.
“If the voters feel like a creator deserves a nomination, they’re going to vote for them,” he <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/dave-chappelle-grammy-netflix-the-closer-trans-controversy-1235316559/">said</a>. “We’re never going to be in the business of deciding someone’s moral position or where we evaluate them to be on the scale of morality. I think our job is to evaluate the art and the quality of the art. We can make sure that all of our spaces are safe and people don’t feel threatened by anyone. But as far as the nominations or the awards, we really let the voters make that decision.”

Legendary comedian Dave Chappelle won a Grammy award on Sunday for best comedy album for his Netflix special &#8220;The Closer,&#8221; which sparked immense anger from leftists when it was released in October 2021.
Chappelle&#8217;s win marks the fourth time he has won a Grammy. He was not in attendance at the event.
Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. attempted to quell any potential backlash from leftists over Chappelle winning the award by noting that viewers are responsible for picking the winners.
“If the voters feel like a creator deserves a nomination, they’re going to vote for them,” he <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/dave-chappelle-grammy-netflix-the-closer-trans-controversy-1235316559/">said</a>. “We’re never going to be in the business of deciding someone’s moral position or where we evaluate them to be on the scale of morality. I think our job is to evaluate the art and the quality of the art. We can make sure that all of our spaces are safe and people don’t feel threatened by anyone. But as far as the nominations or the awards, we really let the voters make that decision.”
Chappelle&#8217;s Netflix performance enraged leftists and trans activists to the point where a transgender employee at the company allegedly organized a walkout in protest of the special. The company later fired the employee.
A former Netflix employee <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2021/10/15/22728337/netflix-fires-organizer-trans-employee-walkout-dave-chappelle">told</a> The Verge that the company’s decision to fire the employee, who was not named, proved that “black trans people are the ones being targeted in this conversation.”
“We have let go of an employee for sharing confidential, commercially sensitive information outside the company,” the company said in a statement confirming that it terminated the individual. “We understand this employee may have been motivated by disappointment and hurt with Netflix, but maintaining a culture of trust and transparency is core to our company.”
Netflix later released a new company <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/netflix-fires-major-warning-shot-at-its-woke-employees-with-new-culture-memo">culture memo</a> that put employees on notice. A section in the memo called “Artistic Expression” stated that the company would not “censor specific artists or voices” even if employees consider the content “harmful.”
“If you’d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you,” the memo states, later adding that employees may be required to work on projects that they “perceive to be harmful” and that if they have a hard time accepting their work assignment, they might want to consider working somewhere else.
“Entertaining the world is an amazing opportunity and also a challenge because viewers have very different tastes and points of view. So we offer a wide variety of TV shows and movies, some of which can be provocative,” the section reads, later adding, “we support the artistic expression of the creators we choose to work with” and that “we let viewers decide what’s appropriate for them, versus having Netflix censor specific artists or voices.”
