On Thursday morning, Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mitch-mcconnell" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mitch McConnell</a> (R-KY) announced that he will not seek another term in the upper chamber during next year&#8217;s election, a decision that will bring to an end a lengthy career that included serving nearly two decades as party leader in the Senate.
&#8220;Seven times, my fellow Kentuckians have sent me to the Senate,&#8221; McConnell said in a Senate floor speech on his 83rd birthday. &#8220;Every day in between I’ve been humbled by the trust they’ve placed in me to do their business right here. McConnell <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mcconnell-to-step-down-as-senate-republican-leader" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> one year ago he would not seek another term as GOP Senate leader. The childhood polio survivor was briefly <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-senate-minority-leader-mitch-mcconnell-discharged-from-hospital" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hospitalized</a> in March 2023 with a concussion from falling. In the months that followed, he appeared to freeze and struggled to answer questions. He also got a cut on his face and sprained his wrist after <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mcconnell-falls-again-gets-medical-attention" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tripping</a>.
After revealing his plans to step aside from leadership, McConnell indicated that he planned to serve out the remainder of his current term in the Senate, which ends in January 2027, saying in a speech, &#8220;I still have enough gas in my tank to thoroughly disappoint my critics and I intend to do so with all the enthusiasm with which they&#8217;ve become accustomed.&#8221;
McConnell <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mcconnell-falls-twice-in-short-span-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fell again</a> — twice during a short time span — earlier this month. Soon afterward, a spokesperson for the senator told The Daily Wire that McConnell was &#8220;fine,&#8221; adding, &#8220;The lingering effects of polio in his left leg will not disrupt his regular schedule of work.&#8221;
Over the past couple of weeks, McConnell has voted against some of Trump&#8217;s second-term Cabinet nominees. They included Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
It did not take long for people to start announcing their intention to run for McConnell&#8217;s seat after the senator announced his plan to retire. Former Republican Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, who lost a bid for governor in 2023 after being endorsed by Trump, revealed his campaign on X, posting, &#8220;Kentucky, it&#8217;s time for a new generation of leadership in the U.S. Senate. Twenty-one states, led by Kentucky Attorney General <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/daniel-cameron" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daniel Cameron</a>, are challenging a new rule from the Biden administration that would mandate that states create emission standards and report back to the federal government on their progress. 
The rule from the Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) would mandate that state departments of transportation come up with goals to reduce CO2 emissions. The Republican attorneys general say that rule is unconstitutional and would harm rural areas where more driving is necessary. 
“President Biden is unconstitutionally ramming his radical climate agenda through administrative agencies that lack Congressional authority to implement such actions,” Cameron <a href="https://www.kentucky.gov/Pages/Activity-stream.aspx?n=AttorneyGeneral&amp;prId=1492" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “We will not stand by while this administration attempts to circumvent the legislative process.”
The rule, which is <a href="https://justthenews.com/nation/states/center-square/states-sue-biden-administration-over-highway-emissions-rule?utm_source=daily&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=newsletter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">set</a> to go into effect on January 8, &#8220;requires State departments of transportation (State DOT) and metropolitan planning organizations (MPO) to establish declining carbon dioxide (CO2) targets for the GHG measure and report on progress toward the achievement of those targets. The rule does not mandate how low targets must be.&#8221;
The FHWA will also be <a href="https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2023/12/07/2023-26019/national-performance-management-measures-assessing-performance-of-the-national-highway-system" target="_blank" rel="noopener">empowered</a> to “assess whether State DOTs have made significant progress toward achieving their targets.”
A  joint <a href="https://www.ag.ky.gov/Press%20Release%20Attachments/Complaint%20(as%20filed).pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">complaint</a> was filed on Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky by Cameron and the attorneys general of Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
&#8220;Congress has not given FHWA or DOT authority to regulate greenhouse gas emissions,&#8221; the complaint says. &#8220;Nor can the Agencies compel the States to administer a federal regulatory program or mandate them to further Executive policy wishes absent some other authority to do so — which is lacking as to this rule.”

The complaint challenges President Joe Biden, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, the FHWA, and FHWA Administrator Shailen Bhatt. It says that the rule is unconstitutional and violates the principles of federalism. 
Montana AG Austin Knudsen said the rule was another aspect of the Biden administration’s attempt to implement a “radical green agenda.”
&#8220;This rule is another unlawful and overreaching regulation by the Biden Administration to force the President’s radical green agenda onto Americans regardless of the costs,” Montana AG Austin Knudsen said. &#8220;This one-size-fits-all approach might work for the Washington, DC bureaucrats who cooked it up, but it won’t work for Montana.&#8221;

Voters across the country head to the polls on Tuesday to decide key elections, including a bid by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kentucky" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kentucky</a> Republicans to flip the governor’s office and a referendum in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ohio" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ohio</a> on whether to establish abortion as a constitutional right. 
In Kentucky, Democratic Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/andy-beshear" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Andy Beshear</a> is facing a challenge from Republican Attorney General <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/daniel-cameron" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daniel Cameron</a>, with recent polls showing a <a href="https://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/politics/elections/2023/11/03/andy-beshear-daniel-cameron-tied-kentucky-governors-race-emerson-poll/71435638007/">tight race</a>. One survey released on Friday from Emerson College Polling showed Beshear and Cameron tied, with both taking 47%. 
Cameron had been behind by 16 points in the previous Emerson poll before appearing to close the gap in recent weeks. Emerson College Polling executive director Spencer Kimball said the gap seemed to narrow because Cameron &#8220;appears to have gained ground by consolidating Republican voters who supported former President Donald Trump in the 2020 election.”
During his campaign, Cameron highlighted former President Donald Trump’s endorsement. Trump won Kentucky by 26 points in 2020, and Republicans have a supermajority in the legislature, overturning Beshear’s vetoes on a number of occasions. 
Last year, Republicans <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/historic-republicans-gain-voter-registration-advantage-in-another-state-for-the-first-time-ever" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gained an edge</a> in voter registration in the commonwealth for the first time, as it has trended red in recent years. 
In Ohio, voters will decide whether to place a right to an abortion in the state constitution. Pro-life advocates say that the initiative would allow abortions at all stages of pregnancy.
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, a Republican, has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ohio-attorney-general-proposed-constitutional-amendment-would-legalize-all-abortion" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that, if passed, Issue 1 would effectively legalize all abortion in the state.
“[T]he Amendment would give greater protection to abortion to be free from regulation than at any time in Ohio’s history,” analysis from Yost said. “That new test includes definitions and other terms that likewise make it harder for any law covering ‘reproductive decisions’ to survive.”
Since August 9, more than $18 million has been spent in favor of the pro-abortion initiative, with just $7 million being spent in opposition, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/ohio-abortion-backers-victory-unbroken-winning-streak-issue-1-rcna122831" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to NBC News. Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade last year, seven states have put abortion rights on the ballot, and pro-life advocates <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/abortion-rights-won-every-election-roe-v-wade-overturned-rcna99031">have lost every time</a>. 
Ohioans will also vote on the legalization of recreational marijuana for adults.
In Virginia, political control of the state legislature is up for grabs with Republicans looking to hold on to the House of Delegates and take a majority in the state Senate. Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/full-panic-mode-biden-asks-dnc-to-help-out-virginia-dems-amid-record-fundraising-from-youngkin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">broken fundraising records</a>, prompting President Joe Biden to ask the Democratic National Committee to donate to Virginia Democrats. A win for Republicans would give Youngkin the opportunity to get some conservative legislation passed before his term expires.

Mississippi Republican Governor Tate Reeves is also on the ballot on Tuesday, facing a challenge from Democrat Brandon Presley, who has accused Reeves of corruption. Reeves won his first race in 2019 by five points, and the state consistently voted Republican in presidential elections, with <a href="https://apnews.com/article/mississippi-governors-race-election-2023-28ed92be2af47c1f3573eb364846c2d4#:~:text=The%20last%20time%20a%20Democrat,compared%20with%20Reeves%27%20%246.3%20million." target="_blank" rel="noopener">the last</a> Democrat to win the state being Jimmy Carter.
Voters in Pennsylvania will also vote to <a href="https://www.wgal.com/article/pennsylvania-voters-to-decide-who-fills-vacant-seat-on-state-supreme-court/45758517#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fill a vacant</a> state Supreme Court seat, which could either increase or narrow the Democrat&#8217;s 4-2 advantage on the court. Republican senator and presidential candidate Tim Scott says the racist ads attacking Kentucky Republican Daniel Cameron as an &#8220;Uncle Tom&#8221; are the &#8220;epitome of racism,&#8221; and says the silence of his Democrat opponent Andy Beshear is &#8220;despicable.&#8221;
The ads from a liberal Super PAC funded by billionaire George Soros call into question whether Cameron, the first black attorney general in Kentucky history, is truly a friend of the black community. The ad from Black Voters Matters PAC refers to Cameron as “Uncle Daniel Cameron,” and uses the saying, “Skinfolk ain’t kinfolk” — a refrain used by black liberals to suggest that anyone who disagrees with them politically is a race traitor.
Scott, who in 2014 became the first black senator elected in the south since reconstruction, said Beshear, Kentucky&#8217;s sitting governor, has a duty to stand up to the overt racism in his state.
&#8220;Why in the world would the governor of a state with the type of diversity he has, with the mantle the people have given him,  remain silent?&#8221; Scott said in an interview with The Daily Wire. &#8220;For one reason: Power. Unless it&#8217;s that he just authentically believes it all.&#8221;
&#8220;The simplest way to state what these yoyos are doing is race-baiting, and feeding the fire for the purpose of power,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;They feel like they can do whatever it takes to divide the state of Kentucky, to fan the flames of racism, to be small and to be so addicted to power that you will call that man, Uncle Tom.&#8221;
Beshear has declined to comment on the ad, telling the Lexington Herald-Leader that because the ad came from &#8220;an African American-led PAC,&#8221; the governor has opted to &#8220;let them comment for themselves.&#8221;
The PAC has doubled-down on the attack, putting up a new ad using the same &#8220;Skinfolk ain&#8217;t Kinfolk&#8221; refrain along with an image of Cameron as the fictional black character played by Samuel L. Jackson in film Django Unchained — the character was vicious to his fellow slaves, and was described by Jackson as the film&#8217;s &#8220;hateful negro.&#8221;

Scott says Beshear&#8217;s failure to condemn the ad sends the wrong message to black youth.
&#8220;It&#8217;s a signal to every little kid growing up in Kentucky who happens to be brown, that if you stick your head up at all and espouse conservative virtues, you might be next. To think of the signal and the message that they&#8217;re sending, it&#8217;s just despicable,&#8221; Scott said, adding that those who are silent about it are &#8220;complicit.&#8221;
Cliff Albright, the co-founder of Black Voters Matter Action PAC, told radio host Roland Martin that he had no regrets about the ad, and that Cameron is a white supremacist.
&#8220;He has shown himself to be just as much of a threat to the black community as the staunchest white supremacists,&#8221; Albright said. &#8220;You don&#8217;t have to be white to pursue and reinforce white supremacist policies. As we said in the ad, all skinfolk ain&#8217;t kinfolk.&#8221;

Albright also said that calling Cameron an Uncle Tom, a slur derived from Harriet Beecher Stowe&#8217;s Uncle Tom&#8217;s Cabin novel, would be an insult to Uncle Tom.
&#8220;Technically, we didn&#8217;t call him Uncle Tom right? To do so actually would probably be more of an insult to the actual Uncle Tom,&#8221; Albright said.
Cameron has condemned the ad as &#8220;racist and hateful.&#8221;
“I never faced racism or discrimination while growing up or working in Kentucky until I decided to stand up to the national Democrat establishment.” Cameron told The Daily Wire, which was first to report on the ad. “I don’t support their policies, so the Left attacks me for my skin color.”
Beshear has not responded to requests for comment.

Democratic Kentucky Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/andy-beshear" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Andy Beshear</a> is highlighting the abortion issue and criticizing his Republican opponent’s strong pro-life stance as the 2023 gubernatorial race heads into its final two months.
The Beshear campaign released an attack ad last week hitting Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron, Beshear’s challenger, for his support for a measure that bans all abortions with the exception of saving the mother from death or a disabling injury. Beshear’s ad pressing the abortion issue is airing in rural, urban, and suburban areas of Kentucky, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/kentucky-governor-campaign-abortion-4e57bc358ab4466b98b4e2de63076f03" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Associated Press. 
“When a woman or girl becomes pregnant from rape, the trauma is unimaginable,” Jefferson County Prosecutor Erin White says in the ad. “Daniel Cameron thinks a 9-year-old rape survivor should be forced to give birth. Nobody — no child — should ever have to go through that.”
Beshear shared the ad on X, formerly known as Twitter, writing, “In this new ad, Prosecutor Erin White says that Daniel Cameron’s view that survivors of rape or incest—sometimes girls as young as nine—should be forced to give birth, is ‘extreme, and it’s dangerous.’ She’s right.”

Cameron’s campaign responded to the ad in a statement to The Daily Wire, pointing to Beshear’s track record of standing with the “extreme wing of the Democrat Party on abortion.”
“This desperate attack from Andy Beshear proves he’s losing ground and panicked. When it comes to the rights of criminals versus victims, Andy Beshear released 1,700 criminals from jail, many of whom went on to commit felonies. Andy Beshear stands with Joe Biden and the most extreme wing of the Democrat Party on abortion,” the Cameron campaign said.
The attorney general celebrated major legal victories that defended the unborn following the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. After the decision, Cameron <a href="https://www.ag.ky.gov/Priorities/Protecting-Life/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defended</a> Kentucky’s trigger law that went into effect banning abortion, leading to the closure of the state’s two abortion facilities.
Democrats across the country have celebrated victories on abortion, including a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/team-behind-5m-bid-to-block-kentucky-pro-life-law-includes-staffer-who-posted-satanic-temple-message-another-marched-with-radical-socialists" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ballot measure</a> that failed in Kentucky which would have clarified that abortion is not a right protected by the state constitution. Other red states, such as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pro-life-amendment-in-kansas-was-first-abortion-test-since-roe-v-wade-overturned-heres-how-it-fared" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kansas</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ohio-voters-reject-proposal-seeking-to-make-it-harder-to-add-abortion-rights-to-state-constitution" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ohio</a>, also rejected initiatives to further protect the unborn, and Democrats have signaled they will continue to run on the issue while painting conservatives as extreme.

Some Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-advised-tudor-dixon-to-talk-differently-about-abortion-during-her-failed-campaign-for-michigan-governor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">warned</a> conservatives to be cautious on the campaign trail when discussing abortion. Trump advised Michigan Republican candidate Tudor Dixon to “talk differently about abortion” during her failed 2022 campaign for governor, and Dixon told Trump during an interview last week that he was “absolutely right” to give her the advice.
Cameron, who has been endorsed by Trump, has focused much of his campaign on the economy, <a href="https://www.wave3.com/2022/04/21/louisville-homicides-return-record-pace-landing-city-unflattering-list/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rising crime rates</a>, and stopping radical gender theory, including sex-change procedures, from being pushed on children. The attorney general has highlighted his stark contrast from Beshear on transgenderism. Beshear has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kentucky-gov-backs-transgender-procedures-linked-to-negative-health-outcomes-for-children" target="_blank" rel="noopener">maintained</a> that he doesn’t support sex change surgeries on minors, but that he does support access to other so-called “gender-affirming” treatments, procedures that have been linked to negative health outcomes for children.
Earlier this year, the Democrat governor vetoed a bill banning all transgender procedures, including surgeries, on children, arguing it would “cause an increase in suicide among Kentucky’s youth.” Beshear’s veto was quickly overridden.
“Andy Beshear supports making it easier for minor children to get an abortion without their parents&#8217; knowledge and vetoed a bill that would require doctors to provide life-saving care to an infant born alive after a failed abortion,” the Cameron campaign told The Daily Wire. “Daniel Cameron is the pro-life candidate in this race and will work as Governor to build a culture of life.”

Kentucky Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/andy-beshear" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Andy Beshear</a> has maintained that he doesn’t support sex change surgeries on minors, but that he does support access to other so-called “gender-affirming” treatments, procedures that have been linked to negative health outcomes for children.
The issue has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrat-governor-says-he-doesnt-support-sex-change-operations-on-kids-he-vetoed-a-bill-banning-them" target="_blank" rel="noopener">come to the forefront</a> of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/thats-not-standing-your-ground-matt-walsh-slams-conservatives-praising-ne-yos-reversal-on-gender-identity" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kentucky</a> gubernatorial race with Beshear saying in recent weeks that he doesn&#8217;t support transgender surgeries on kids, and that they don&#8217;t happen in the commonwealth. He has openly voiced support for non-surgical procedures. In his <a href="https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/record/23rs/sb150/veto.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">veto message</a> of a bill banning all transgender procedures, including surgeries, on children, Beshear said that the bill would “cause an increase in suicide among Kentucky’s youth.”
This message is disputed by “detransitioners” and medical associations who say that transgender treatments on minors do not actually help mental health or reduce suicide rates, as well as medical groups that have warned of potential health risks from non-surgical gender procedures.
“There is not a single long term study to demonstrate the safety or efficacy of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for transgender-believing youth. This means that youth transition is experimental, and therefore, parents cannot provide informed consent, nor can minors assent to these interventions. Moreover, the best long-term evidence we have among adults shows that medical intervention fails to reduce suicide,” the American College of Pediatricians <a href="https://acpeds.org/topics/sexuality-issues-of-youth/gender-confusion-and-transgender-identity/deconstructing-transgender-pediatrics" target="_blank" rel="noopener">says</a>.
The American College of Pediatricians is a medical association group founded in 2002 that is <a href="https://acpeds.org/about/faq" target="_blank" rel="noopener">composed</a> of over 600 physicians and other health care workers across the U.S. “who are dedicated to the well-being of children.” 
The group also points out that giving children cross-sex hormones, such as giving young girls testosterone, can be associated with an “increased risk of heart attacks, stroke, diabetes, blood clots and cancers across their lifespan.”
Dr. <a href="https://twitter.com/Miriam_Grossman" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Miriam Grossman</a>, psychiatrist who treats children, adolescents, and adults and the author of the <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/1510777741?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_DQ1S2DZXAQN35KAAVVHP" target="_blank" rel="noopener">new book</a> “Lost in Trans Nation: A Child Psychiatrist&#8217;s Guide Out of the Madness,” spoke with The Daily Wire about the problems of giving young children with gender dysphoria puberty blockers.

“Puberty is not a disorder, puberty is not a disease. It’s a necessary stage of development, and it&#8217;s the most important stage of development since the womb,” she said, pointing out how puberty is a necessary part of becoming an adult. “Puberty is not something that needs to be blocked.”
She added that if allowed to go through puberty, the “vast majority” of children will grow to be comfortable with their bodies and that preventing puberty may actually end up “cementing in the dysphoria” instead of allowing the child to grow out of it.
Beshear has accused Kentucky Republicans of lying about his record on the issue and said that cross-sex surgeries are not performed on children in Kentucky. However, a hospital affiliated with the University of Kentucky has done “a small number of non-genital gender reassignment surgeries on minors, such as mastectomies,” according to a letter <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/kentucky-clinic-refutes-andy-beshears-claim-that-youth-gender-reassignment-surgeries-dont-happen-in-state/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">first reported</a> on by The Washington Free Beacon.
“Andy Beshear can’t stop lying about gender reassignment surgery for minors,” Kentucky Attorney General and Republican nominee for governor Daniel Cameron said in a statement. “We know for a fact that gender reassignment surgery for kids was taking place in Kentucky. Andy Beshear sided with his far-left allies and vetoed a bill to ban these procedures. Andy is lying in the middle of an election to mislead voters. Kentuckians are smart enough to see through his shameful lies.”
Beshear’s office did not reply to a request for comment.

In a new re-election campaign ad, Democratic <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kentucky" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kentucky</a> Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/andy-beshear" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Andy Beshear</a> says that he does not support sex change surgeries on children, despite the fact that he vetoed a bill banning the surgeries earlier this year. 
Beshear, who is up for election in November, said that he does not support <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender-surgery" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transgender surgeries</a> for kids, but the Democrat has voiced support for other life-altering transgender procedures like puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. 
“I’ve never supported gender-reassignment surgery for kids and those procedures don’t happen here in Kentucky. When I took office, I vowed to support parents because as parents we know what’s best for our kids, not politicians in Frankfort or Washington,” Beshear <a href="https://twitter.com/MarioAndersonTV/status/1683463814715432961?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in the new ad, which was released this week. 
In March, Beshear vetoed a bill that banned puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and sex change surgeries like performing double mastectomies on girls who say they are boys. The bill also allowed teachers to not be compelled to use students’ so-called preferred pronouns and prohibits the teaching of gender ideology at schools.
The bill <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/leftist-protesters-arrested-as-kentucky-republicans-override-governors-veto-to-ban-child-sex-changes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">later became law</a> after Republicans in the House voted 76-23 and 29-8 in the Senate to override the veto. A federal judge has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/federal-judge-blocks-kentucky-ban-on-transgender-hormones-for-kids" target="_blank" rel="noopener">since blocked</a> the implementation of the bill’s prohibition of cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers, procedures that can be linked with osteoporosis and fertility issues. 
&#8220;Andy Beshear has always been clear that he does not support gender reassignment surgery for minors – which doesn’t happen in Kentucky,&#8221; Beshear campaign manager Eric Hyers <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/popular-democrat-governor-breaks-party-speaks-against-sex-changes-minors" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;Daniel Cameron and his allies are pushing a blatantly false attack because they know they can’t win talking about Cameron’s record, which includes supporting cuts to teacher pensions and backing schemes to divert money out of our public schools.&#8221; 
Daniel Cameron, Kentucky’s attorney general, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kentucky-ag-daniel-cameron-wins-gop-governor-primary-race" target="_blank" rel="noopener">is challenging Beshear</a> in the gubernatorial race this November. In 2020, former President Donald Trump won Kentucky by over 25 percentage points.

In his veto message, Beshear explicitly said that kids in Kentucky would die if the legislature banned transgender hormonal procedures. 
“Improving access to gender affirming care is an important means of improving health outcomes for the transgender population. Senate Bill 150 will cause an increase in suicide among Kentucky’s youth,” he <a href="https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/record/23rs/sb150/veto.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a>. 
Many “detransitioners” have said that undergoing transgender procedures did not help their mental health. On Thursday, Chloe Cole <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/barbaric-pseudoscience-chloe-cole-calls-for-lawmakers-to-protect-children-from-transgender-procedures" target="_blank" rel="noopener">testified before</a> the House Judiciary Committee that she only became suicidal after doctors began to “transition” her through puberty blockers, testosterone, and removing her breasts.

Democrat Governor Says He Doesn’t Support Sex-Change Operations On Kids. He Vetoed A Bill Banning Them.

Planned Parenthood and EMW Women’s Surgical Center have <a href="https://www.kentucky.com/news/state/kentucky/article276582776.html">requested</a> a judge to dismiss their own year-long challenge to Kentucky’s abortion ban.
The motion supporting a dismissal came after the two abortion organizations were unable to produce a pregnant woman who wanted to and was prevented from getting an abortion because of the ban by the deadline set by the court, which was Tuesday.
“We are gratified that the abortion providers recognized their case should be dismissed,” Kentucky’s Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron said in a <a href="https://www.kentucky.gov/Pages/Activity-stream.aspx?n=AttorneyGeneral&amp;prId=1405">statement</a>. “As a result of our efforts, I am proud to say that the elective abortion industry is out of business in Kentucky, and their inhumane practice remains illegal in our Commonwealth.”
The two last abortion providers in the Bluegrass State challenged the two abortion restrictions in June 2022 after they went into effect immediately after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. The two challenged laws include a trigger law that bans abortion except to save the life of the mother and a six-week ban.
EMW and Planned Parenthood argued the laws violated the rights to privacy and bodily autonomy as guaranteed by the Kentucky Constitution and were able to secure a temporary block of the laws. Cameron challenged the decision, which was eventually overturned by the Kentucky Court of Appeals.
The plaintiffs then appealed to the state’s Supreme Court, which ruled in Cameron’s favor. The Court <a href="http://opinions.kycourts.net/sc/2022-SC-0329-tg.pdf">ruled</a> that the two organizations did not have standing to challenge the laws on behalf of their patients. The court also ruled that the temporary injunction was an abuse of the circuit court’s discretionary power. 
“We moved to dismiss this case because earlier this year, the Kentucky Supreme Court issued an extraordinary ruling that took away health care providers’ ability to defend the rights of their patients, upending decades of precedent,” the two abortion providers said in a statement. “Bringing cases on behalf of patients has been standard practice in Kentucky and across the country for good reason — numerous obstacles stand in the way of patients coming forward to participate in litigation.”
Because Planned Parenthood and EMW could not produce a patient to challenge the law by the June 20 deadline, they filed their motion to dismiss, according to the Lexington Herald Leader.
Planned Parenthood and EMW’s challenge was not the only challenge to Kentucky’s abortion laws. Three Jewish women are <a href="https://www.kentucky.com/news/politics-government/article266756996.html">challenging</a> the ban on religious liberty grounds, saying the law is based on the Christian belief that life begins at conception, a belief they argue is absent from Judaism. Because of this, they claim, the law gives preference to Christians.
Cameron is the Republican <a href="https://www.wkyt.com/2023/05/16/cameron-beshear-face-off-kentuckys-governor-race/">nominee</a> to challenge Democratic Governor Andy Beshear later this year. The black Republican is making his conservative record as Attorney General a central component of his campaign, contrasting himself with Beshear and tying the incumbent to the unpopular President Joe Biden.

A newly-released ballistics report states that Sergeant Jonathan Mattingly, the police officer whose leg was hit by a bullet as he joined two other officers to serve a “no-knock” search warrant at Breonna Taylor’s apartment was shot by Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, not friendly fire, as had been alleged in some quarters.
The Louisville Metro Police Department released a Kentucky Police ballistics report that confirmed Mattingly was hit by a 9 mm round fired from Walker’s  Glock Luger semiautomatic pistol, <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8823227/Louisville-cop-wounded-Kenneth-Walker-ballistics-report-shows.html">the Daily Mail</a> noted. The officers were carrying .40-caliber guns and fired 32 rounds during the raid.
“The report says that 32 cartridge casings from 40-caliber guns were found, which match the number of rounds investigators said were fired by three officers — Mattingly, Detective Myles Cosgrove and former Detective Brett Hankison,” the <a href="https://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/local/breonna-taylor/2020/10/08/breonna-taylor-report-shows-officer-shot-kenneth-walker-experts-say/5914804002/">Courier-Journal</a> stated, admitting, “The <a href="https://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/local/breonna-taylor/2020/09/27/ballistics-report-dont-support-daniel-cameron-claim-breonna-taylor-boyfriend-shot-louisville-cop/3552007001/">Courier Journal previously reported </a>that an abbreviated state police report said ‘due to limited markings of comparative value,’ the 9 mm bullet that hit and exited Mattingly&#8217;s thigh was neither ‘identified nor eliminated as having been fired’ from Walker&#8217;s gun.”
The Courier-Journal noted, “Melissa Oberg, an Indianapolis firearms examiner, also said the round had to have been fired by Walker.”
Despite claims that Mattingly had been hit by friendly fire, Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron had asserted there was “no evidence to support that Sergeant Mattingly was hit by friendly fire from other officers.”
Cameron <a href="https://www.rev.com/blog/transcripts/ag-daniel-cameron-press-conference-transcript-september-23-breonna-taylor-decision">stated at a press conference</a> on September 23:
<blockquote>When officers were unable to get anyone to answer or open the door to apartment four, the decision was made to breach the door. After breaching the door, Sergeant Mattingly was the first and only officer to enter the residence. Sergeant Mattingly identified two individuals standing beside one another at the end of the hall, a male and a female. In his statement, he says that the male was holding a gun, arms extended in a shooting stance. Sergeant Mattingly saw the man’s gun fire, heard a boom, and immediately knew he was shot as a result of feeling heat in his upper thigh.
Kenneth Walker fired the shot that hit Sergeant Mattingly. And there’s no evidence to support that Sergeant Mattingly was hit by friendly fire from other officers. Mr. Walker admitted that he fired one shot and was the first to shoot. In addition to all the testimony, the ballistics report shows that the round that struck Sergeant Mattingly was fired from a nine millimeter handgun. The LMPD officers fired 40 caliber hand guns.
Sergeant Mattingly returned fire down the hallway. Mattingly fired six shots. Almost simultaneously, Detective Cosgrove, also in the doorway, shot 16 times. This all took place in a matter of seconds. In total, six bullets struck Ms. Taylor. Medical evidence obtained by our team indicates that only one shot was fatal. Further medical evidence shows that Ms. Taylor would have died from the fatal shot within a few seconds to two minutes after being struck.</blockquote>

Ballistics Report Confirms: Officer Shot In Breonna Taylor Raid Was Hit By Boyfriend, Not Friendly Fire

On Thursday night, Tucker Carlson of Fox News hosted Daniel Cameron, the Attorney General of Kentucky, who had been branded a “race-traitor” by other blacks for his handling of the investigation into Breonna Taylor’s death. Cameron fired back, “It is repugnant; it is so disappointing, but it’s par for the course. Any time someone stands for the truth and when that truth is different from a narrative that has been pushed by others, this is how they respond.” He added, “I&#8217;m here tonight to say that enough is enough and that black Republicans, folks that believe in the truth, that we&#8217;re going to stand up.”
“Brett Hankison, who was fired from the Louisville Metro Police Department in June, faces three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment for allegedly firing bullets that entered several nearby apartment units belonging to Taylor&#8217;s neighbors. No charges were filed against Sgt. Johnathan Mattingly and Detective Myles Cosgrove, the other two officers in the March 13 drug raid that resulted in Taylor&#8217;s death,” <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/daniel-cameron-responds-attacks-breonna-taylor">Fox News</a> noted.
Carlson played video of various attacks on Cameron from members of the black community, then stated, “Those attacks are so vicious and so cruel and so unfair that we hesitated to air them again, and we didn’t want to play them right before introducing the Attorney General of Kentucky, Daniel Cameron, but he asked us to because he wants to respond.”
Carlson asked, “I have to ask you: what did you think when you saw that?”
Cameron replied, “Well, look, Tucker, it is so unfortunate that because I have a different political philosophy, and because in my role as Attorney General and as the Special Prosecutor in the Breonna Taylor investigation, and because I led with the facts and truth and had that lead to the conclusion, somehow I’ve betrayed my race. It is repugnant; it is so disappointing, but it’s par for the course. Any time someone stands for the truth and when that truth is different from a narrative that has been pushed by others, this is how they respond. And if you look at my social media, you&#8217;ll see countless folks who have made similar statements and comments, but I&#8217;m here tonight to say that enough is enough and that black Republicans, folks that believe in the truth, that we&#8217;re going to stand up.”
“And that&#8217;s what I did in presenting all of the information to the grand jury in the Breonna Taylor investigation,” Cameron continued. “That&#8217;s what I&#8217;m charged to do.  That is my responsibility as the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  That&#8217;s what the citizens here of all 120 counties deserve.  That&#8217;s what they elected me to do.”
Carlson stated, &#8220;Well, God bless you for your calm and your bravery.  I don&#8217;t think I could handled it if I were you, but I&#8217;m glad that you can.  So, since you&#8217;re here, and we&#8217;ve covered this case, there&#8217;s been a lot of competing stories about what actually happened.  Clear up for us, if you would, since no one was more intimately involved in this than you. What misinformation is out there about the Breonna Taylor case?&#8221;
“Well, the biggest myth that is being promoted right now is the idea that Sergeant Mattingly, one of the office officers who was administering the search warrant in the morning hours at Breonna Taylor&#8217;s apartment, was shot by friendly fire, meaning shot by another officer” Cameron replied. “Look, I&#8217;ve taken to calling this a conspiracy theory.  In order to believe this narrative that&#8217;s being promoted by the defense attorney in Louisville, Kentucky, you have to believe, (1) to defy physics and disregard the trajectory analysis, but you have to believe that the officer that was standing outside the apartment shooting into the apartment, that he had a magic bullet, and that that bullet went through the apartment unit and then made a sharp turn left without any obstruction or any impediment to match it up with the entry point of the wound that Sergeant Mattingly suffered.”
“It is a silly notion; it is one of the biggest myths that has been promoted here in the last few weeks,” Cameron continued. “Before 3 weeks ago and before the defense attorney uttered this statement, it was a foregone conclusion that what happened that evening was that King Walker, Breonna Taylor&#8217;s boyfriend, fired a shot at the officers.  The officers responded and returned fire, justified in doing so because they had been fired upon.  And the tragedy, and again, I&#8217;ve said this from the very beginning, the tragedy here is that Breonna Taylor was in that hallway as well and was hit.”
Carlson agreed, “Yes.”
Cameron added, “But the tragedy doesn&#8217;t allow for to not present the facts and the truth, and that&#8217;s what we&#8217;ve done here.”
Carlson echoed, “Amen.  As an outsider, that&#8217;s exactly my read on it.  It looked like a tragedy.  Everyone has said that she died, but it doesn&#8217;t seem like it justifies violence in the streets.   You said that as well.  You said it&#8217;s not justice for the mob to commit violence.  And you were attacked for saying that.  What do you make of the response?”
“Well, again, there were a lot of people inside and outside, a lot of celebrities, a lot of folks that were either misrepresenting the facts because it was to their advantage, or didn&#8217;t know all the information,” Cameron noted. “They made conclusions first and then want to cherry-pick the facts to meet those conclusions.  I don&#8217;t have that luxury as the attorney general here in the commonwealth.  My responsibility is to the truth and to the information, and that is ultimately what leads to the conclusion.  We presented all the information to the grand jury.  Ultimately, we presented to them as well the fact that the officers, Mattingly and Cosgrove, were fired upon and they were justified in returning their fire.”
He concluded, “We obviously have a prosecution into a third officer that was there that night.  I can&#8217;t get into the specifics because that is an ongoing prosecution, but again, a lot of folks had already made up their mind and weren&#8217;t interested in what the truth is, and now are still trying to cherry pick so that they can fashion a narrative that meets their agenda and advances their own interests.”

Speaking with Tucker Carlson of Fox News on Thursday, Candace Owens slammed leftists who attacked Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, who is black, as a traitor to his race after a Kentucky grand jury announced that one former officer involved in the death of Breonna Taylor had been indicted on three charges of first-degree wanton endangerment while two other officers had not been indicted.
On Wednesday, retired Los Angeles police sergeant Cheryl Dorsey, a black woman, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/msnbc-guest-says-black-kentucky-ag-skin-folk-but-not-kinfolk-after-charges-in-breonna-taylor-case?%3Futm_source=twitter">slammed</a> Cameron. Dorsey said of Cameron, “Well, listen. Not only is he being intellectually dishonest about that, you know, I find all of his remarks with regards to this whole entire press conference offensive. … Let me say this as a black woman. He does not speak for black folks. He’s skin-folk, but he is not kinfolk. And so just like he thinks they can’t speak for Kentucky, because he is up there with a black face, he does not speak for all of us. This was not a tragedy. This was a murder. He should be ashamed of himself.
Carlson said to Owens, “You saw the Attorney General of Kentucky, and I think I’d be honest enough to say that even if I disagreed with him, he certainly made a rational case for his position, and a pretty traditionally American case: rioting is not justice. And then you see him attacked as a race traitor. What do you make of that?”
“For me, it&#8217;s absolutely infuriating to watch,” Owens answered. “And you are correct in saying that I&#8217;ve been on the receiving end of the same sorts of attacks. Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s so fundamentally wrong and backwards about it, is that if you actually look at what they are saying and what the deeper implications are here, it&#8217;s that there is a right way, a correct way and a wrong way to be black. Meaning that you can look at me, Tucker, and say, ‘Candace Owens is black, and therefore I can assign a bunch of characteristics and expectations upon to her based on her skin color.’ Ironically, that&#8217;s the very definition of racism and it&#8217;s coming from the liberals who like to say that they see racism everywhere but they can&#8217;t recognize it when it&#8217;s coming out of their own mouths.”
“I’ve often said the Democrat party has built almost a prototype of what it means to be a black American; that prototype means a black American must vote Democrat,” Owens continued. “You must react emotionally and not rationally and not pause to think. We must be faithful and abide by cultural icons, meaning we must worship the words and advice of ‘King’ Lebron James, as he’s called, and ‘Queen’ Beyonce. ‘Queen’ Beyonce being the person, I will remind your listeners and viewers, who actually wrote a letter to hurry up the Attorney General in his investigation and said that she wanted her kind of justice delivered in the Breonna Taylor case.”
“He did the right thing by ignoring her; he did the right thing by ignoring various pressures coming from culture and the mainstream media, and for that you’re seeing him being socially lynched and stripped of his identity because he acted professionally and rationally,” Owens asserted. “This guy should be commended by both sides and instead he’s being attacked racially by the left.”
Carlson pointed out, “It’s beyond belief how patronizing it is, but it’s also an attack on the most basic freedom of all, which is the right of every American to think for himself: ‘That’s my view; I disagree.’ That’s the most American thing you can say, but they don’t recognize that right.”
Owens concluded:

You can’t imagine a scenario in which Joe Biden would say, “If you don’t vote for me, you ain’t white. Why, that doesn’t even sound right.  Suddenly you’re like, “What are you talking about? You have to come to us with ideas and get us to see your perspective. But when it’s black Americans’ they view it as proprietary. There is something proprietary about black skin to Democrats, and they get super-angry at people who think independently, like myself, like the Attorney General, and like various other black Americans who are waking up to this delusion.</blockquote>

Daniel Cameron, Kentucky’s first black attorney general, launched into a scathing attack of Democratic nominee Joe Biden on Tuesday night, characterizing the former vice president as the candidate that would take America “backwards.”
Cameron brought up a series of Biden’s past controversial comments about the black community, then bashed the Democratic nominee over his record while touting a unifying vision of Republican governance.
Cameron opened by slamming rioters for tearing down statues of American heroes such as former presidents Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant while quoting Lincoln saying, “Any nation that does not honor its heroes will not long endure.” Cameron said that despite the divisive aims and destructive acts of “anarachists,” he and other Republicans “recognize those who work in good faith toward peace, justice, and equality.”
He referenced the killings of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breonna-taylors-mother-calls-for-peace-after-7-shot-keep-saying-her-name-but-do-it-the-right-way">Breonna Taylor</a>, a 26-year-old medical technician killed during a no-knock police raid on her home, and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/retired-police-captain-was-murdered-while-protecting-his-friends-pawn-shop-during-riots-widow-says">David Dorn</a>, a retired police chief killed while protecting a friend’s pawn shop from looters.
“Republicans will never turn a blind eye to unjust acts, but neither will we accept an all-out assault on Western civilization,” Cameron said, referring to ongoing riots and looting that has continued sporadically in major American cities since the death of George Floyd in late May.
Cameron then got into what might have been the most impactful moment of his roughly 6:30 speech. The Kentucky attorney general spoke about the lessons he learned growing up and working in his parents’ coffee shop.
“My values were shaped by my faith and by my parents. I worked at their small coffee shop meeting people from all walks of life, and I realized something: no matter who we are, everyone needs a cup of coffee. That lesson stuck with me because despite our differences, we all want the same things: for our children to have more opportunities than we did, to feel the dignity of work, and to believe that if you play by the rules, you can make a good life for yourself and your family,” Cameron said.
Cameron then cast presidential candidate Biden as the candidate of regression and moving “backwards,” quoting a statement <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-biden-if-you-have-a-problem-figuring-out-whether-youre-for-me-or-trump-then-you-aint-black">Biden made about black voters</a> in May that he later <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrat-joe-biden-blames-charlamagne-tha-god-for-making-racist-you-aint-black-remark">apologized</a> for. Cameron brought up other <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-walks-back-put-yall-back-chains-robert-kraychik">controversial</a> <a href="https://dw-site-dev.dailywire.com/news/watch-biden-says-black-people-are-not-as-diverse-as-hispanics-trump-responds">statements</a> from Biden’s past, as well.
“So the question is, will we chose the path that gives us the best chance to meet those universal desires? Or will we go backward to a time where people were treated like political commodities who can’t be trusted to think for themselves. I think often about my ancestors who struggled for freedom, and as I think of those giants and their broad shoulders, I also think about Joe Biden, who says, ‘If you aren’t voting for me, you ain’t black;’ who argued that Republicans would put us back in chains; who says there is no diversity of thought in the black community.” Cameron said.
“Mr. Vice President, look at me. I am black. We are not all the same, sir. I am not in chains. My mind is my own and you can’t tell me how to vote because of the color of my skin,” Cameron said, addressing Biden. “Joe Biden is a backwards thinker in a world that is craving forward-looking leadership. There is not wisdom in his record or plan, just a trail of discredited ideas and offensive statements. Joe Biden would destroy jobs, raise our taxes, and throw away the lives of countless unborn children.”
The attorney general said that Biden is “captive to the radical left” that believes “skin color must dictate your politics.” He then contrasted Biden’s and President Trump’s records on issues such as criminal justice reform, the economy, and immigration, saying that Biden “couldn’t do it” and touting Trump’s own record on criminal justice and the economy, and promoting Trump’s vision of an “America First” immigration policy.
Cameron finished with a call to unity:
<blockquote>Let me close with something my mom told me. This country’s many faces comprise a family, not separate parts to be divided against each other. And like any family, we care for one another, we grieve together, we share our burdens and our struggles, and we celebrate our successes. And though we fuss and fight, we are not enemies, we are Americans united by a collective faith in our Constitution and laws and the fundamental fairness they represent. We are defenders of life and individual liberty, and we carry the mantle of Eisenhower and of Regan to be a force for good in this world, and one that must always be reckoned with. That’s my Republican Party, the party of Lincoln, that believes that America is an indispensable nation, an evergreen tree standing tall in a turbulent world. And that is why I am voting for Donald Trump for president. Thank you and God bless.</blockquote>
