<p>Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin was visibly emotional as he stood onstage at Wednesday night&#8217;s ESPY Awards, waiting to present the Pat Tillman Award for Service to the team that saved his life.</p>
<p>The award is named for Tillman, an Arizona Cardinal who gave up a career in professional football to serve as a United States Army Ranger and later died in Afghanistan. It was presented on Wednesday to the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/buffalo-bills-return-kick-off-with-96-yard-touchdown-while-damar-hamlin-watches-from-hospital-bed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Buffalo Bills</a> training staff, who rushed to Hamlin&#8217;s side when he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nfl-announces-bills-bengals-game-postponed-indefinitely-after-hamlin-suffers-cardiac-arrest-in-game" target="_blank" rel="noopener">collapsed</a> on the field and suffered a cardiac arrest during a Monday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals this past January.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.etonline.com/damar-hamlin-tears-up-while-presenting-buffalo-bills-training-staff-with-pat-tillman-award-at-2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">presentation</a> began with a prerecorded video, narrated by Hamlin, that described what had transpired that day.</p>
<p>&#8220;Thanks to their training, their poise and their commitment to serve others, the Bills training staff kept me alive,&#8221; Hamlin said. &#8220;I didn&#8217;t wake up that morning in January thinking that I would need someone to save my life that day, and I doubt that the training staff thought that they would have to do what they did either.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;That, as much as anything else, is what I took away from what happened to me six and a half months ago,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;That any of us, at any given time, are capable of doing something as incredible as saving a life, and living a life in service of others. It&#8217;s a blessing.&#8221;</p>
<p>As the video ended, Hamlin could be seen wiping tears from his eyes. The audience responded by getting to their feet, clapping and cheering as the training staff made their way to the stage.</p>
<p>&#8220;Damar, first and foremost, thank you for staying alive, brother,&#8221; Head Athletic Trainer Nate Breske said, speaking for the staff. &#8220;Seriously, we are so honored to be standing up here with such a strong and courageous human being.&#8221;</p>

After being revived, he spent months in rehabilitation while fans wondered if he would ever play professionally again.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It has been over a week since Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field of play during a game in Cincinnati, and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/god-using-me-in-a-different-way-damar-hamlin-shares-game-day-message-for-his-team" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the response from Americans</a> has been nothing short of miraculous.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Donations to Damar’s charity toy drive soared overnight, assistance was offered to his loved ones by individuals and companies alike, and, most remarkably, our divided nation rallied in unison behind a solitary purpose.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We now have the comfort of knowing that Damar is alert and fully conscious, but let us take a moment to highlight the initial response to this near-tragic occurrence.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">When the number three on Damar’s jersey was facing the sky because the young man lay flat on his back, unable to move or breathe, the men nearest him gathered around with a swift and singular action — they dropped to their knees in prayer. This wasn’t the act of a mere individual, or even a limited group of players, but rather a collective reaction from all involved.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The next day, Dan Orlovsky of ESPN followed suit and led his production team in devotion on live television. I cannot remember the last time I have seen that — or if I’ve ever seen that. In the week that followed, our entire country joined in and prayed for a young man most of us have never met, or will ever meet. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I have no idea which religion, if any, the players on that field practice, and I am not familiar with their church attendance records. I only know that when those men saw a brother in need, when the situation in question was a matter of life or death, they didn’t hesitate to call upon a higher power. Imagine if we took that approach to prayer, not just in times of desperation, but ceaselessly.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Damar Hamlin is now on the road to recovery, and we must acknowledge the vital proficiency of the medical trainers and a top-tier hospital staff, but let us also emphasize the role played by a nation united in worship.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The paths forward are clear; we can either use this progress to better create cohesive communities, or we can move on with our lives, and fall back into a rut of detestation and division. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Only time will tell how we proceed, but this much is certain — rather than falling to our knees in protest, America is better served when we fall to our knees in prayer.</span></p>

<p>EA Sports is reportedly set to remove a feature from the company&#8217;s popular &#8220;Madden NFL 23&#8221; video game after Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest during a game last week.</p>
<p>TMZ Sports <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2023/01/10/madden-removing-cpr-touchdown-celebration-wake-damar-hamlin-crisis/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">learned</a> that the company is pulling the &#8220;CPR touchdown celebration&#8221; from the video game franchise.</p>
<p>A spokesperson from the company said that the end zone celebration will be taken out of the game through a software update that will likely happen this week.</p>
<p>The report said that some users now find the virtual celebration to be &#8220;insensitive and crass.&#8221;</p>
<p>Hamlin collapsed with about six minutes left in the first quarter of last week’s Monday Night Football game against Cincinnati after he tackled Bengals receiver Tee Higgins following a 13-yard catch. After the tackle, Hamlin stood up, took a step backward, and fell to the ground.</p>
<p>Hamlin received CPR on the field and once at the hospital, where he stayed in critical condition for several days.</p>
<p>Hamlin was released from the hospital on Monday so he could fly back to Buffalo where he is now receiving medical care.</p>
<p>“Headed home to Buffalo today with a lot of love on my heart,” Hamlin tweeted. “Watching the world come together around me on Sunday was truly an amazing feeling. The same love you all have shown me is the same love that I plan to put back into the world n more. Bigger than football!”</p>
<p>Dr. Timothy A. Pritts and Dr. William Knight at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-damar-hamlin-discharged-from-hospital" target="_blank" rel="noopener">provided</a> an update on Hamlin’s condition Monday afternoon.</p>
<p>“We shared last time that we were with you that our ultimate goal was to get Damar back home to his amazing family and the broader Buffalo family,” Knight said. “Well, Dr. Pritts and I are thrilled and proud on behalf of UC to report to you that Damar Hamlin has been released and returned to Buffalo.”</p>
<p>“I traveled with him to the airport this morning with our UC Health, air care and mobile care crew, including teammates who are with us on the field when Damar Hamlin collapsed,” he continued. “He landed safely and as standard as anybody who has gone through what he’s gone through this past week, and certainly after flying on a plane, he is going to be observed and monitored to ensure that there’s no impact from the flight on his condition or on his lungs. Dr. Pritts and I have spoken extensively with his care team in Buffalo, and I can confirm that he is doing well. And this is the beginning of the next stage of his recovery.”</p>

<p>Doctors said NFL player Damar Hamlin set &#8220;every alarm off in the [Intensive Care Unit] ICU&#8221; when his teammate Nyheim Hines ran back the opening kickoff for a 96-yard touchdown on Sunday.</p>
<p>The physicians at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center gave an update to the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOtfCpg7gvE">press</a> on Monday about what happened in that room while <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/damar-hamlin">Hamlin</a> was <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/buffalo-bills-return-kick-off-with-96-yard-touchdown-while-damar-hamlin-watches-from-hospital-bed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">watching the game</a> between the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots. It comes at the 15:08 minute mark.</p>
<p>&#8220;We have permission from him [Hamlin] and his family to let you know that he did watch the game on Sunday,&#8221; one of the doctors at the UC Medical Center shared.</p>
<p>&#8220;He was beyond excited,&#8221; the doctor added. &#8220;And feels very supported the outpouring of love from across the league. And especially from the Buffalo area.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;He watched the game yesterday when the opening kickoff was run back [for a touchdown] he jumped up and down, got out of his chair,&#8221; the doctor continued. &#8220;Set, I think, every alarm off in the ICU in the process.&#8221;</p>

<p>The physician assured the press the NFL player was &#8220;fine&#8221; despite all the alarms, noting that it was an &#8220;appropriate reaction&#8221; to the very exciting play in the game that gave Buffalo the lead which they basically maintained until the end, beating the Patriots 35-23.</p>
<p>Ahead of the game, the Bills&#8217; player tweeted a photo showing him hooked up machines and IV&#8217;s in his hospital room ready to root on his team.</p>

<p>Earlier in the press conference on Monday, doctors announced that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-nfl-game-suspended-after-player-collapses-on-field-cpr-given">Hamlin</a> was being released to go home to Buffalo after he underwent a cardiac arrest during the first part of the game a week ago between Buffalo and the Cincinnati Bengals.</p>
<p>The Bills&#8217; player also tweeted out the exciting news announcing he was headed back home.</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">In the wake of the tragic collapse of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin last Monday night when he went into cardiac arrest on the field, the Pittsburgh Steelers were ripped by football fans after a Steelers player celebrated a sack by giving his teammate mock CPR.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Early in the fourth quarter of their game against the Cleveland Browns, with the Steelers leading 28-14, Alex Highsmith of the Steelers sacked Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. As Highsmith lay on the ground after the sack, a teammate rushed over and performed chest compressions on him before lending him a hand to help him stand up.</p>

<p><a href="https://dailywire.com/news/god-using-me-in-a-different-way-damar-hamlin-shares-game-day-message-for-his-team/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Buffalo Bills safety</a> Damar Hamlin responded on Sunday to the outpouring of love and support he has seen in the last week from his teammates, other NFL players and teams, and fans.</p>
<p><a href="https://dailywire.com/news/love-for-damar-nfl-teams-pay-respects-to-recovering-buffalo-bills-safety/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hamlin</a> suffered a cardiac arrest on the field during Monday&#8217;s game against the Cincinnati Bengals — after which team trainer Denny Kellington performed CPR and first responders rushed him to the hospital — but by game time on Sunday, the recovering player was sitting up in his Cincinnati hospital bed and cheering his teammates on to a 35-23 win over the New England Patriots.</p>

<p>The Buffalo Bills made it clear on Sunday that they were taking the field with <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/buffalo-bills-return-kick-off-with-96-yard-touchdown-while-damar-hamlin-watches-from-hospital-bed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hamlin</a> in their hearts. And in the opening moments of the game, teammate Nyheim Hines set the tone for the day by returning the opening kick-off for a 96-yard touchdown.</p>
<p>Throughout the game — and other games across the league — different teams and players offered their own tributes to Hamlin. And Hamlin, who was watching from his hospital bed, took it all in and responded via Twitter.</p>
<p>&#8220;God Behind All This No Coincidence,&#8221; Hamlin tweeted in response to the opening kick-off return.</p>

<p>When Bills tight end Dawson Knox scored the second touchdown of the day, he signaled the words &#8220;I love you&#8221; with his hands. Hamlin, who saw Knox&#8217;s gesture, tweeted, &#8220;I love you too @dawson_knox.&#8221;</p>

<p>The Buffalo Bills made it clear on Sunday that when they took the field to face off against the New England Patriots, they were fighting for every yard with one person on their minds: recovering safety Damar Hamlin.</p>

<p>But in the wake of a terrifying on-field incident — at last Monday&#8217;s game against Cincinnati, Hamlin had suffered a cardiac arrest during the game — it wasn&#8217;t just the Bills who were thinking of the popular safety as the games continued this weekend.</p>
<p>On Saturday, a game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans began with a pregame prayer for Hamlin.</p>
