The ambitious fantasy series “The Pendragon Cycle” doesn’t just reimagine ancient Britain. It also reimagines its heroes. At the center of that transformation is Rose Reid, who plays Charis and also serves as a credited writer on the series. 
It’s a rare pairing in the genre, and Reid says stepping into the role required an entirely different kind of heroine than audiences are used to seeing.
“I think the thing that initially drew me to her was because she has such an interesting arc,” Reid said. “We meet Charis at a time that we don&#8217;t typically meet a lot of heroines in fantasy.”
Instead of introducing Charis before she completes an epic mission, like saving a kingdom or embarking on a journey, the series begins after the defining moment of her life. 
“We meet her after she&#8217;s already saved her people, and she&#8217;s essentially reconciling what happened and who she was then with who she was now,” she said. Charis is a character living with the consequences of past choices, and the show doesn’t shy away from letting viewers wonder about those decisions. Reid adds, “There are definitely several moments where you want the audience to ask the question, was that the right call?”
“I&#8217;ve always been a huge fantasy fan, so this was a dream project for so many reasons,” she said of scoring the role.

Reid’s position as both writer and actress gave her a unique perspective on the character, though she emphasized that she wasn’t cast in the role until later on. 
“I actually didn&#8217;t know that I was going to play her until very, very late into the writer&#8217;s room,” she explained. “I&#8217;m really grateful that that wasn&#8217;t even a conversation… I wasn&#8217;t writing her thinking I was going to play her.”

That separation ultimately spurred more creativity. “We could have a little bit more freedom to write her the way she needed to be written and that she deserved to be written rather than writing her with a specific person or a specific actress in mind.”
Once filming began, Charis evolved even further. “Characters change as you work through things,” Reid said. She credits showrunner Jeremy Boreing for having “such a specific vision” for who Charis was in every scene. Acting opposite co-stars like Daniel Fathers also reshaped the character. 
“How they respond to your character does kind of change … the same thing that I prepped in my head might not work anymore, because Daniel Fathers took a different approach.” One scene during an episode with Fathers, who plays Charis’ father, King Avallach, quickly became her favorite. “It ended up being my favorite scene on screen that I was in anyway. So I&#8217;m really, really excited for fans to see that.”
Reid also shared one of the production’s most surprising challenges: the now-infamous bull sequence, which was “terrifying” yet “exciting” because it used living, breathing bulls. 
“That sequence took us two weeks to film,” she said. “We spent the entire time we were writing, the entire time we were shooting the rest of the season preparing for that scene, because it was going to be such a big ordeal.” 
She admits it left her “kind of an adrenaline junkie.”
Filming in Cinecittà Studios added another layer to the experience. “That set is incredible. It&#8217;s huge. You really felt like you were there … it was impossible to step onto that set without thinking that you really had stepped into Atlantis and stepped into another world.” 
But more than any single moment, what stayed with her was the cast bond. “This cast is so close,” she said. “We all kind of locked arms and we&#8217;ve all been really good friends since then.” Her on-screen sister, Morgan, played by Emree Franklin, became one of her closest real-life friends. “We just became more family than friends, which I think is really special considering that that doesn&#8217;t happen very often.”
Reid closed with appreciation for the entire crew that brought “The Pendragon Cycle” to life. 
“Audiences don&#8217;t fully appreciate how much this is a team effort from everyone from [costume designers Tóth András Dániel Godena-Juhász Attila] to our incredible special effects team to the grips and everybody,” she said. “If audiences like the show, it&#8217;s probably not because of something any one group of people did, it&#8217;s because of the collective. And that&#8217;s part of the reason film is the only career I could ever see myself in.”

What Is A Woman

The highly anticipated series “The Pendragon Cycle: Rise of the Merlin” promises to deliver a version of Merlin unlike any seen before. Actor Tom Sharp, who takes on the iconic role in the adaptation of Stephen R. Lawhead’s bestselling series, says the character will surprise even longtime fans.
“Well, you know, it’s Merlin. So he’s an iconic character that’s probably known in most cultures around the world,” Sharp told The Daily Wire. 
Calling it his “biggest role to date and biggest production to date,” he emphasized that this Merlin is more than the mysterious, on the fringes secondary character that most Arthurian legend retellings make him out to be. 
“This is set before King Arthur, but instead of just a magical advisor … he’s also seen as a young warrior, which would be different for people to see. And it’s a grittier, more grounded tone … He’s hands on. He’s at the forefront,” Sharp explains.
The production draws heavily from Lawhead’s original story, which is a combination of Celtic mythology, Christian themes, and historical drama. The novels center on the rise of Britain from a land of chaos into a civilization awakened by faith. Sharp confirmed that staying true to the original was a priority behind the scenes. “We stuck as closely as possible to the books and as faithfully to the source material as possible when making this show,” he assured longtime fans. 
One pivotal moment from the source material is considered a turning point in Merlin’s life and received special focus during production. Sharp described it as a “tentpole scene” that carries significant emotional weight. “If this scene falls down, the whole show falls down,” he said, noting that “fans of the books … they’ll know what I’m talking about.” He couldn’t reveal much else except to say that the scene appears in episode six.
Authenticity was also a major theme while filming “Pendragon,” the lead actor revealed. Rather than relying on CGI, the series was filmed in stunning locations across Hungary and Italy. Sharp explained how this made things easier for him and the rest of the cast. 
“Shooting on location beats CGI and green screen every day of the week,” he said. “It’s more immersive for the audience … For actors, it’s less acting required. You’re reacting off real things.”

He continued, “If you see me running with a wolf or someone’s on fire or I’m charging into battle on a horse, swinging a sword, it’s all real.” Even the bulls in episode one, Sharp noted, were living, breathing animals.
While Merlin is often portrayed as a wise yet inaccessible mystical being, Sharp said he approached the character through the lens of humanity. “One of the challenges of playing him was how do I make him relatable because he’s so mysterious,” he said. “As an actor, I focused purely on his humanity and how the audience can connect to him.” 
Sharp also emphasized Merlin’s moral restraint. “He could easily rule in a tyrannical position, but he chooses not to… Someone with all that power, not wanting to be the ruler, is a great quality.”
The actor also mentioned the character’s other distinctly human qualities. “He’s also heavily, deeply flawed as well with a lot of tragedy and pain in his life from the beginning and throughout. And obviously, when you&#8217;re immortal, you&#8217;re quite a lonely person… [there is] a distance between him and other characters,” he said.
Sharp shared one lighthearted behind-the-scenes moment involving his first scene with actress Brett Cooper, who plays Ganieda. The pair met in full costume, with her clad in the gown of a regal princess and him presenting as a mud-covered Merlin as they both encountered a giant wild boar.
“This is not your traditional romantic setting,” he joked.
Ultimately, Sharp is excited for fans to see the series and called it a “dream come true” to play the character of Merlin. When asked about his favorite scene, he referenced the first season’s last episode. &#8220;The very final scene of the show in episode seven is my favorite personally,” Sharp said, noting that “the fans and any newcomers to the story will understand why.”
“That scene gave me a very surreal out of body experience. It was amazing and very euphoric on set. I kept talking about it for days afterwards … that memory will stay with me for life.”

I often reply, if you ask any law enforcement officer working sex trafficking and child exploitation cases, they’ll tell you the same thing: “The biggest mistake people make is thinking this crime doesn’t happen at home, in our communities, in the United States. It does. And it’s everywhere.”
Worldwide, there are nearly 50 million people trapped in modern slavery, according to the International Labor Organization. In 2024, the Global Tips Report showed that the number of children being trafficked had increased 31% in 2022 compared to 2019, with a 38% rise recorded for girls. Before I joined Our Rescue, I spent my career at Homeland Security Investigations — leading complex efforts to combat human trafficking and child exploitation and spearheading the creation of the DHS Center for Countering Human Trafficking, the first unified, inter-agency coordination center dedicated to combating trafficking in all forms. And I can tell you, everyday law enforcement officers uncover cases of children and adults being groomed, recruited, coerced, or even sold in our own communities. The victims are not just statistics; they are neighbors, classmates, and children whose lives are being stolen in plain sight.
But beyond these trafficking cases, another fast-growing threat is here in the U.S. — the online sexual exploitation of children. Technology has opened new frontiers for predators and organized criminal groups, making it easier than ever to target American kids in their own homes.

The scale of child sexual exploitation in the United States is staggering. In 2024 alone, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline received over 20.5 million reports of suspected child sexual exploitation. These reports included more than 62.9 million files of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). This is not just a statistic; it represents real images, videos, and other materials depicting children enduring unimaginable harm.
Mike Prado, who heads the Cyber Crimes Center (C3) at Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), put it plainly: “This is no longer just about lone offenders. Today, organized criminal groups overseas are running sextortion schemes that deliberately target American children for profit.” Operations out of places like West Africa have pushed kids in America into such despair that some have taken their own lives within hours of first contact. That is the new face of exploitation. And it’s happening in U.S. households. Every. Single. Day.
The game has changed. “Now these offenders have access to the same technology that the government has,” Prado told me. “They don’t have to go to MIT. They don’t have to have a computer science degree to figure this stuff out.”
Two decades ago, law enforcement relied on basic email for victim identification. Smartphones weren’t widely available, the darknet was barely in use, and exploiting technology required computer science expertise. Today, both predators and our children can figure out these tools with ease. Technology is everywhere, and every device a child receives, whether for school or learning, can become a portal into the darker areas of the internet. According to a 2019 Kaspersky study, 84% of parents worldwide are worried about their children’s online safety. Yet also according to the study, on average, parents only spend a total of 46 minutes talking to their children about online security throughout their entire childhood. Ignoring that is a luxury we can’t afford anymore.
While law enforcement and government investment in combating exploitation have increased over the years, there is still much more to do to stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated offenders.
The core challenge is sheer scale. Every success is quickly met with new cases, and for every criminal network taken down overseas, another takes its place. It is the demand for Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) in the U.S. that keeps this cycle in motion.

In 2024, reports involving generative artificial intelligence (AI) increased by 1,325%, highlighting how technology is being weaponized against our children. Additionally, reports of online enticement, including sextortion, rose by 192%, with nearly 100 reports of financial sextortion per day. Since 2021, NCMEC has been aware of at least 36 teenage boys who have taken their lives due to this crime.
The problem is not just the number of cases but the sophistication of the predators and the overwhelming volume of reports. In 2024, NCMEC assisted law enforcement with 29,568 cases of missing children and helped bring 91% of them home. However, the risks, especially online, are becoming more complex and widespread.
But I believe that partnerships are the key to changing the tide in this fight. Just this year, the inaugural Interstate Justice Coalition surge operation (coordinated between Our Rescue, We Fight Monsters, and Skull Games Solutions and in partnership with local law enforcement agencies) spanned across Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas, resulting in the identification of 32 trafficking victims, the safe recovery of 26 survivors, and the arrest of 15 traffickers.
It’s work like this — collaboration between law enforcement, nonprofits, communities, and individuals is what ultimately keeps children safe. One year ago, Daily Wire podcast host Matt Walsh asked a question that most Americans dared not say out loud: “Am I racist?”
That simple yet provocative question became the title of his documentary, which helped to expose the grift of America’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) industry. What began as a satirical inquiry quickly evolved into a defining cultural moment. 
A year after “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/am-i-racist">Am I Racist?</a>” was released on DailyWire+, it remains one of the most significant and successful pieces of documentary filmmaking in recent history. The film continues to expose hypocrisy, invite reflection, and shake up the status quo like never before.

When the film premiered last fall, fans were delighted with the unexpected humor that came from simply exposing lies. “Am I Racist?” took the DEI movement’s own language, placed it under a microscope, and dared to ask if the people profiting from America’s obsession with race were really solving anything at all.
Walsh interviewed well-known DEI advocates such as Saira Rao and Robin DiAngelo. Some of the comments made by the race-obsessed activists would almost be unbelievable if they hadn’t been filmed and turned into a documentary for the world to see. 
In one scene, Walsh, sporting a man bun, convinces DiAngelo that she had a “powerful opportunity” to display her commitment to anti-racism by giving his black producer, Ben, money from her purse.
Another scene features Rao lecturing her “Race to Dinner” guests about how racist they are. In his disguise, Walsh joins the conversation and makes some hilariously ridiculous remarks that the guests go along with. Rao later called “Am I Racist?” a “fascist Nazi white supremacy film.”

That premise struck a chord not only with conservatives, but also with a surprising number of viewers across the political spectrum who recognized the absurdity of the movement.
The results spoke for themselves. “Am I Racist?” became the top-grossing documentary of the past decade, earning over $12 million domestically after it hit theaters a month before its release on DailyWire+. Critics largely refused to review it, yet audiences responded by watching it anyway. It was one of only 15 documentaries ever to open in over 1,500 theaters and earned the third-highest opening day gross for a documentary in the last decade.
“Am I Racist?” was predictably snubbed from the Oscar shortlist despite the film’s record-breaking box office success and massive cultural influence. 
The film’s near-perfect audience score coupled with a conspicuous silence from the mainstream press only proved Walsh’s point. While regular people were ready to have an honest conversation about race, power, and the industry profiting on outrage, the mainstream media who had been supporting this nonsense wasn’t ready to take a look in the mirror.
The film’s success wasn’t an accident. It’s proof that when you strip away buzzwords, Americans still crave truth more than comforting lies.That statement holds up even more today.
Twelve months later, the same institutions satirized in “Am I Racist?” are deeply entrenched in many cases, but slowly people are starting to wake up. While DEI initiatives remain fixtures in corporate and academic life, there have also been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dei-focused-teams-hit-hardest-in-mass-nbc-news-layoffs">mass layoffs</a> and elimination of entire departments devoted to identity politics. Even the White House clamped down on DEI being pushed in the federal government and at public schools and universities after President Donald Trump was sworn into office earlier this year.
Walsh’s approach was unorthodox but effective. He didn’t lecture; he listened. He attended DEI training sessions, spoke directly with self-proclaimed “experts,” and treated their jargon with seriousness, allowing the experts to prove out their ineptitude onscreen. Walsh wasn’t mocking them. He was giving them a platform to express their beliefs and letting the results speak for themselves.  
The genius of the documentary lay in its tone. The humor served a purpose as it helped to reveal how the modern language of “anti-racism” often conceals deeper contradictions. What Walsh uncovered was not an effort to heal division, but a lucrative enterprise that profits from keeping it alive.
In January, The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/now-streaming-clearing-the-a-i-r-the-making-of-am-i-racist">released</a> “Clearing the A.I.R.: The Making of Am I Racist?,” a companion film that pulls back the curtain on how a deceptively simple question became one of the year’s most challenging cultural commentaries. Those behind-the-scenes insights only deepened public appreciation for the documentary’s impact, not merely as entertainment, but as a jumping off point for a cultural movement.
What distinguishes “Am I Racist” from other documentaries is its refusal to moralize. Walsh does not tell the viewer what to think. Instead, he shows them the DEI industry operating in real time and allows viewers to draw their own conclusions.
That restraint is rare in modern media, and it’s part of why the film continues to resonate. At its core, “Am I Racist?” isn’t just about race, and it’s not a political statement either. It’s about discovering the truth and refusing to be quiet. 
The first anniversary of “Am I Racist?” marks more than a milestone for The Daily Wire or for Matt Walsh’s filmography. It represents a pivotal shift in how the public tackles big ideas that progressive institutions have taken for granted far too long.
The DEI establishment will not vanish overnight, nor will the culture wars end anytime soon. But “Am I Racist?” has shown what’s possible when conservative filmmakers aren’t afraid to ask the questions you’re not allowed to ask.

Subscribers won’t have to wait long. While the seven-episode season officially launches in January, Daily Wire All Access members will get an early gift with the first two episodes dropping on Christmas Day.
The series stars Tom Sharp as Merlin, Rose Reid as Charis, James Arden as Taliesin, Finney Cassidy as Aurelius, and Brett Cooper as Ganieda, alongside a large international cast. The filming locations bring authenticity to the stunning landscapes and gritty battles at the heart of the saga.
Daily Wire CEO Caleb Robinson called the series “a true milestone” for Daily Wire Entertainment, promising audiences a story they will never forget. “We believe our audience deserves stories told with this level of craft and conviction, and we’re thrilled to finally share it with them,” Robinson said.
“The Pendragon Cycle” joins a growing roster of DailyWire+ tentpole content, including other subscriber-loved projects like Matt Walsh’s documentaries “What Is A Woman?” and “Am I Racist?”, the thriller “Run Hide Fight,” and the gritty Western film “Terror on the Prairie” starring Gina Carano.

Most Americans know Planned Parenthood as the nation’s largest provider of abortion, sex education, and birth control. But a new documentary lays bare the group&#8217;s sinister origins.
Produced by Fieldwork Media and directed by David Coonradt, ‘The 1916 Project’: Exposing Planned Parenthood’s Century Long Culture of Death brings Seth Gruber’s book of the same name to life. The film analyzes how Sanger’s radical advocacy for birth control, sterilization of the “unfit,” and population control informed today’s progressive movements.
Studying Sanger’s own letters and journals, viewers get an inside look into the mind of Sanger from her first illegal birth control clinic in 1916 to launching the multi-billion enterprise Planned Parenthood as we know it.
“The film connects every dot,” says Gruber. “Explaining the origins of third-trimester abortions, euthanasia, radical sex education, Critical Race Theory and the broader cultural turmoil from 1916 and beyond.”
So far, more than 1,000 churches hosted screenings for the film across the country, sparking nationwide discussion.
The film’s release on DailyWire+ brings an even larger audience of viewers seeking clarity on one of the most contentious issues in America.
Even abortion advocates want to distance themselves from Planned Parenthood&#8217;s founder. In 2020, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York announced the removal of Sanger’s name from the Manhattan Health Center.
“The removal of Margaret Sanger’s name from our building is both a necessary and overdue step to reckon with our legacy, and acknowledge Planned Parenthood’s contributions to historical reproductive harm within communities of color,” said Board Chair Karen Seltzer.
Prominent voices are rallying behind the film. Bestselling author and radio host Eric Metaxas calls Sanger’s plans “too horrifying to believe” in revelations of Sanger’s intentions, which he describes as the “literal extermination of races, all by way of the organization she founded.”
Global evangelist and pro-life advocate Nick Vujicic adds, “I meet believers all around the world who want to know what has happened to America.” He calls Seth’s film and book “the definitive guide to how we lost our culture. If the Church awakens and ends abortion in America, The 1916 Project will be remembered as the spark that lit the fire.”

Brown then takes her viewers back in time 60 years, to when the Communist Party of the United States “actually read into the Congressional Record their&#8230;goals for how to destroy America as they knew it.”
Reading through the 45 goals — which include taking control of the schools, fomenting student riots, and discrediting the Constitution — Brown says it’s “eerie how much it feels like you’re reading a description of the society we live in today.”
The Communists also pushed to “discredit the family as an institution” and “eliminate prayer” from schools and the public consciousness.
“Tell me all of this is not a direct play by play of everything we’re living through today in our broken society!” Brown says.
“The tough truth that’s an incredibly hard pill to swallow is this: they won,” Brown says. “They resoundingly succeeded in bringing every single one of those goals to fruition, and they were incredibly open about it right in front of our faces while generations that came before us probably giggled and said there&#8217;s no way that will ever happen.”
But Brown sees hope in her generation.
“Newsweek magazine recently reported that 93% of current college students still want to get married, even in a culture screaming at them that marriage is an outdated concept. Over 80% of us plan on starting our own businesses within the next five years instead of slaving away for a woke CEO.”

Brown, a Colorado native who rose to prominence as a social media influencer, says she joined The Daily Wire to help sketch out a new American dream — a plan of action to match the Left’s agenda.
