Opening Tuesday’s hearing, Subcommittee on the Constitution Chair Eric Schmitt (R-MO) warned that for the past 15 months, political violence “has been a constant fact of American life.”
&#8220;We&#8217;ve seen assassinations. We&#8217;ve seen murder. We&#8217;ve seen death. None of this is random. It&#8217;s organized, coordinated political terror,” Schmitt said.
The hearing comes just two months after Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk was murdered by a leftist assassin while speaking at a campus event in Utah. Knowles, a friend of Kirk&#8217;s, <a href="https://x.com/michaeljknowles/status/1968365304893030812">announced</a> that Turning Point’s college tour would continue after the tragedy, and he, along with several other conservative speakers, vowed to carry on the mission.
The chairman said he believes the people behind the violence are “determined militant extremists who wield violence for political ends.”

In addition to Kirk&#8217;s assassination, Schmitt invoked the two assassination attempts on President Donald Trump’s life, the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, and a slew of arsons, bombings, armed ambushes, assaults, sniper attacks, mass shootings, riots, and violent mobs.
“We are faced with only two paths: Either we confront this political violence and end it, or it will end us,” Schmitt said.
Ranking member Sen. Peter Welch (D-VT) said he is “absolutely horrified by political violence in this country” and “unequivocally” condemned Kirk’s murder, but cautioned against debating whether there was more political violence &#8220;on one side or the other.&#8221;
In his opening statement, Knowles blasted Welch for suggesting that we “not try to pinpoint exactly which side the violence comes from.”

“In light of the murder of my friend Charlie Kirk by a leftist assassin, I am gratified to see that at least some members of our federal legislature are now confronting the consistent and escalating pattern of left-wing terrorism in the country,” Knowles said.
Knowles cited a September 23 Atlantic article which, citing a recent study from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, admitted &#8220;that the Left is more violent today than the right.&#8221;
&#8220;Less honest liberals, including members of Congress, continue to deny this fact. Democrat Congressman Seth Moulton, for example, reacted to Charlie’s assassination by blaming the right,&#8221; Knowles said.
Knowles cited examples of left-wing political violence, including a personal experience from April 2023 when he was invited to participate in a debate at the University of Pittsburgh on the topic of transgenderism.
He said several hundred left-wing protesters, many dressed in black, gathered to oppose his appearance.
“They lit the street on fire while burning me in effigy with a little Hitler mustache painted on my face. All because I hold the view, as most Americans do, that men cannot become women,” Knowles said.
He said an “Antifa operative” rolled smoke bombs under police barricades and then threw a lit firework into police officers — injuring several.
They were forced to end the debate early, Knowles said.
“Despite popular efforts to deny the existence of organized left-wing terrorism, Brian and Krystal DiPippa were not merely two citizens protesting a speaker with whom they disagreed. Things just got a little out of hand. No. They are members of an extremist cell,” Knowles said.
Knowles said everyone should be able to agree that throwing an explosive at a group of people is “no mere minor indiscretion.”
The Torch Antifa network has claimed the DiPippas as members, Knowles said, noting they &#8220;raised money for them through a tax-exempt nonprofit organization.&#8221;
“That is a very serious crime. That&#8217;s attempted murder, the kind of crime that merits life in prison,” Knowles said.
But, he explained, Brian DiPippa was only <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-wdpa/pr/pittsburgh-couple-sentenced-obstructing-law-enforcement-during-campus-protest">sentenced</a> to jail time. His wife Krystal was sentenced to probation.
“The federal government must act now to stop the consistent and accelerating trend of leftist terrorism,” Knowles said.
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) introduced Daniel Hodges — a police officer who responded to the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.
Hodges said he believed the press release sent out ahead of the meeting from the chair “made it clear this was not going to be an honest consideration of various causes and effects, but rather a ham-fisted attempt to propagate the unsupported notion that liberal ideology is the greatest origin of modern political violence.”
He added that the hearing was “galling” to him “since every single member of the majority on the subcommittee has either contributed to one of the most infamous examples of conservative political violence of our age or the protection of its perpetrators.”
“Every majority member who could do so voted to acquit Donald Trump during a second impeachment, and now we find ourselves in a new horrific age of political violence,” Hodges said.
In a subsequent exchange, Knowles insisted that “any honest Democrat even would have to acknowledge, as the Atlantic magazine did, as even CSIS has acknowledged, that the threats today to the free marketplace of ideas come from the Left.”

“And so, in order to restore the open marketplace of ideas, the healthy exchange of ideas essential to our self-government, we must regulate where the problem is, and today the problem lies on the left,” Knowles said.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) questioned Knowles about the violence against “people of faith.”
Hawley, who said he was friends with Kirk, described him as “incredibly bold” in speaking about his faith.
“You can’t tell me that that did not play into the reason he was killed,” Hawley said.
He asked Knowles about the reason for the &#8220;uptick&#8221; in violence.
“Cardinal Manning wisely observed that all human conflict ultimately is theological &#8211; a lot of our big policy debates in recent years have really been anthropological and religious in nature,” Knowles said.
Knowles said the attacks on churches, which he called “widespread and increasing” have been “underreported and ignored &#8211; in some cases entirely.”
During the hearing, lawmakers also discussed potential steps to address political violence going forward.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said he introduced the “Stop FUNDERs Act” which he said would add rioting as a predicate offense to RICO, to “enable the Department of Justice to use the full tools that have been directed at the mafia to go after the corrupt enterprise.”
Former acting United States Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf endorsed the bill during the hearing.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) also made a brief appearance.
“When we hold hearings that come at this issue that reflects the partisanship of our time and the tribalism of our time, we don&#8217;t get to a solution. We are in a crisis right now and there is growing political violence and a glowing justification for it,” Booker said.
Booker admitted there is political violence including “extremists who have left wing ideologies and right-wing ideologies &#8211; to say it&#8217;s just one and not the other is to deepen the problem.”
“The only thing that&#8217;s going to get us out of this condition is for courageous leaders, in both parties to start standing up and extending grace — and self introspection,” Booker said.
Although Booker left the hearing early, Knowles said he made a good point about being &#8220;introspective,&#8221; then brought up Booker’s endorsement of Jay Jones.
Jones, a Democrat running to be the next Attorney General of Virginia, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/read-them-virginia-dem-sent-shocking-texts-about-killing-gop-leader-pissing-on-graves">fantasized</a> about murdering a state Republican leader with “two bullets to the head” and “piss[ing]” on the graves of other Republicans.
Knowles observed that Booker, &#8220;in the spirit of introspection, is standing by this endorsement,&#8221; having already left the room.
“Senator Booker should practice what he preaches,&#8221; Knowles said. &#8220;So long as anyone stands by an endorsement such as that, their words are meaningless, they’re shedding crocodile tears on the topic of political violence.&#8221;

Following the hearing, Knowles said he was “grateful” to Schmitt and the members who attended the hearing — noting that Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) didn’t attend.
“He couldn’t make the time while his side is promoting political violence,&#8221; Knowles said.
“Senator Booker made it in and then ran away as quickly as he possibly could, which makes sense because he is endorsing a man for Attorney General of Virginia who calls for murdering Republicans and their kids,” he added.
“I think the crocodile tears from the Democrats were preposterous,&#8221; Knowles added. &#8220;They were doing everything they could to avoid accepting the blame that sits squarely with them.&#8221;
Still, Knowles said he thought the hearing was &#8220;productive, because I think it showed the American people where the problem really lies.&#8221;

WASHINGTON—A bill to honor a prominent Cuban anti-communist has bipartisan congressional support.
Cory Booker isn&#8217;t having it.
The New Jersey Democrat blocked a bill that would rename the street outside the Cuban Embassy after the late anti-communist Cuban activist Oswaldo Payá. Payá, who founded the Christian Liberation Movement in the 1980s, died in a 2021 car crash, that the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights determined to be an intentional act by the Cuban government against Payá, according to the New York Times.
The bill to name the street “Oswaldo Payá Way” in his honor has been introduced multiple times, most recently by Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL). Cruz described the late activist as a “Cuban dissident who fought against the communist regime and who stood up and fought for free speech for democracy and for human rights. He was a thorn in the side of the Cuban communist regime his entire life.”

Booker called Payá an “extraordinary hero&#8221; who should be honored, but said it should be up to the Washington, D.C. City Council to rename the street.
“His work should be recognized more by our nation, and I would support the D.C. Council, their elected representatives, if it decided through their democratic process to work with the senator and the Democratic sponsor to rename the street,” Booker said on the Senate floor on Wednesday.
“My objection is simply right now about Washington, D.C.’s, right to control their own local affairs. This objection is about home rule and self-governance. Now it is true, as my colleague said, that this has passed through this chamber multiple times,” the Democrat continued.
Cruz, whose family fled Cuba&#8217;s communist regime, rebutted Booker’s argument. The Texas Republican said Booker&#8217;s opposition is simply about opposing President Donald Trump, who faced Democratic pushback for the federal law enforcement surge in the nation’s capital.
“The purpose here is to put pressure on the Cuban Communist regime, and naming the street does that. Now, Mr. President, as I pointed out, Sen. Booker voted for this identical legislation just two years ago, this bipartisan legislation that leads to the obvious question, what has changed?” Cruz said on the floor.
“And one thing has changed. The resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, when Senator Booker voted for this bipartisan legislation, Joe Biden was the president. Today, Donald J. Trump is the president, and unfortunately, our Democrat colleagues have decided bipartisan cooperation is no longer something they&#8217;re interested in. Their party is instead unified behind one principle, which is that they hate Donald J. Trump,” the Republican continued.

Booker had the chance, as a member of the committee, to question Patel during his allotted time — and he did ask a few questions of the FBI director, although he spent the majority of his time pontificating about his assessment of Patel&#8217;s job performance thus far. When he&#8217;d exhausted his own time, Grassley allowed Patel to respond — but Booker could not resist the opportunity and began to protest while he was speaking.

Booker began by claiming that the FBI&#8217;s mission was being compromised and agents were being &#8220;reassigned&#8221; to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, and argued that Patel was failing the agency by firing a number of agents with years of experience and seniority.
&#8220;Because of your failures of leadership, I don’t think you’re fit to lead the bureau. Here’s the thing, Mr. Patel, I think you’re not going to be around long. I think this might be your last full oversight hearing. Because as much as you supplicate yourself to the will of Donald Trump and not the Constitution of the United States of America, Donald Trump has shown us in his first term, and in this term, he is not loyal to people like you. He will cut you loose,&#8221; Booker claimed. &#8220;This may be the last time I have a hearing with you, because I don’t think you’re long for your job.&#8221;
When the New Jersey Senator had finished, Grassley offered Patel the chance to respond, uninterrupted, and he took it.
&#8220;Sir, that rant of false information does not bring this country together,&#8221; Patel began. &#8220;If you want to work on bringing this country together — it&#8217;s my time, not yours.&#8221;
&#8220;My God. My God,&#8221; Booker&#8217;s tone grew increasingly dramatic. &#8220;You&#8217;re going to lecture me about dividing this country?&#8221;
Booker then claimed that he followed Patel&#8217;s social media posts &#8220;that tear this country apart&#8221; — all while Patel attempted to continue his testimony and Grassley banged his gavel, chastising Booker for interrupting.
&#8220;It is my time,&#8221; Patel repeated. &#8220;You had your time. Your time is over.&#8221;
&#8220;Sir, you don&#8217;t tell me my time is over,&#8221; Booker insisted, pointing a finger at Patel. &#8220;The people of New Jersey tell me what my time is — you can&#8217;t lecture me —&#8221;
The crosstalk continued until Grassley once again banged the gavel, reminding Booker that he had, in fact, already had his time to talk and Patel was to be allowed to continue.
Patel followed with a list of the accomplishments made by the bureau under his leadership, pointedly addressing Booker as he argued that a &#8220;failing&#8221; leader could not have made such gains.

Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) took to the Senate floor on Tuesday and scolded members of his own party — in particular, Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Catherine Cortez-Masto (D-NV) — over their support for bipartisan police funding bills.
The fight began when Klobuchar and Cortez-Masto pushed for the bills — which would provide law enforcement with trauma kits and cover family death benefits — to pass by unanimous consent. Booker immediately proposed an amendment that would force public safety resources to be divided between states without any consideration for political leaning.
Both Klobuchar and Cortez-Masto pushed back, saying that while they agreed funding should not be withheld for political reasons, Booker should have brought up the amendment during the markup process instead of waiting until the last minute.
&#8220;Tacking on a poison pill language to these bills won’t guarantee any additional funding makes it to New Jersey, Nevada, or any other state. Instead what it will do, it will keep critical bills from passing in the first place. You gotta question what is going on here,&#8221; Cortez-Masto said, clearly suggesting that Booker was grandstanding.
Booker objected, saying that Trump had threatened to withhold funding from sanctuary states after the bills in question had already gone through that process. He then pivoted to attack his own party for not doing enough to stand up to Trump.

Booker accused law firms, colleges, and even media networks of &#8220;bending the knee&#8221; to Trump, claiming that Stephen Colbert — who was ousted from his gig at &#8220;The Late Show&#8221; over a reported $40 million loss — was taken &#8220;off the air because [he] dared to insult a president.&#8221;
He continued in that vein, getting progressively louder and more animated until he was shouting: &#8220;It&#8217;s time for Democrats to have a backbone. It&#8217;s time for us to fight. It&#8217;s time for us to draw lines. Don&#8217;t question my integrity. Don&#8217;t question my motives. I&#8217;m standing for Jersey! I am standing for my police officers. I&#8217;m standing for the Constitution, and I&#8217;m standing for what&#8217;s right. And dear God, if you want to come at me that way, you&#8217;re going to have to take it up with me.&#8221;
Booker didn&#8217;t stop there, but instead started shouting about rights being taken away and &#8220;secret police&#8221; who he claimed were &#8220;running around this country&#8221; and taking people off the street who were in the country legally.
He concluded by saying that if Democrats didn&#8217;t &#8220;stand together,&#8221; they would &#8220;deserve to lose.&#8221;

Senator Cory Booker went on an eight-minute rant Thursday as the Senate considered one of President Donald Trump&#8217;s nominees to the federal bench, going so far as to accuse a colleague of violating Senate rules.
The New Jersey Democrat exploded during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the nomination of Emil Bove, whom Trump tapped to serve on the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals. When Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) moved to bring Bove&#8217;s nomination to a full Senate vote, Booker jumped in, citing a rule he said gave senators the right to debate the nomination. Grassley called Booker to order while continuing to call for the vote to proceed.
Booker has campaigned against Bove since Trump tapped him for the position, <a href="https://x.com/SenBooker/status/1945837045496103176" target="_blank" rel="noopener">writing</a> a letter accusing Bove of hiding information related to the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-says-epstein-story-is-kept-alive-by-pretty-bad-people-including-fake-news?author=Zach+Jewell&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trump+Says+Epstein+Story+Is+Kept+Alive+By+%E2%80%98Pretty+Bad+People%2C+Including+Fake+News%E2%80%99" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Epstein files</a>, which have been under heavy scrutiny recently.
In response to Grassley&#8217;s call for a vote, Booker objected, asking, &#8220;What are you afraid of even debating this? Putting things on the record, hearing from every Senator, dear God, that&#8217;s what our obligations are.&#8221;
Grassley attempted to call Booker to order, but Booker continued, his voice cracking, &#8220;You could call me out of order, because this is out of order.&#8221;
While Booker railed at Grassley, the chairman continued to call for votes for the nominations of other potential appointees.
&#8220;This is a kangaroo court,&#8221; Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) said before she stood up to leave with Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA).
&#8220;You are a good man,&#8221; Booker said. &#8220;You are a decent man. Why are you doing this? What is Donald Trump saying to you that are [sic] making you do something which is violating the decorum of this committee, the rules of this committee, the decency and the respect that we have [sic] each other to at least hear each other out?&#8221;
Democrats have argued that Bove is a controversial nominee based on past whistleblower <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/25/politics/emil-bove-confirmation-hearing-federal-judgeship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">allegations</a> that, in his position as an attorney at the Department of Justice, he &#8220;stated that DOJ would need to consider telling the courts &#8216;f**k you'&#8221; and ignore orders to stop the deportation of illegal aliens.
Democrats also criticized Bove for dropping federal charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams and investigating officials who worked on cases related to January 6.
Booker recognized in his speech that the committee had the right to deny his request after a vote and continued to berate Grassley&#8217;s indifference to his request.
&#8220;Sir, this is just wrong in every way,&#8221; Booker said before leaving and joining the other Democrats who had stormed out.

The anti-ICE demonstrations in and around Los Angeles have been “peaceful,&#8221; Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) claimed on Sunday, despite clear evidence of violent clashes with federal authorities.
Booker seemed to take a page out of CNN&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-mocked-for-fiery-but-mostly-peaceful-protests-tv-chyron-shown-in-front-of-kenosha-fire" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;mostly peaceful&#8221;</a> playbook from 2020 after President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tom-homan-says-national-guard-moving-into-la-to-shut-down-anti-ice-riots" target="_blank" rel="noopener">deployed</a> the National Guard to Los Angeles over the weekend. Sharing a clip of Booker&#8217;s comments, the White House’s “Rapid Response” account on X <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1931704892407562276" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fired back</a>.
Booker “thinks the anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles — in which criminal illegals and violent mobs are hurling concrete projectiles at vehicles, lighting fires, and attacking federal law enforcement — are ‘peaceful,’” the account said.
Republican lawmakers who hit the talk show circuit on Sunday also dismissed the notion that the protests in Los Angeles should be characterized as nonviolent.
On CNN’s &#8220;State of the Union,&#8221; Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1931711731354448072" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> the demonstrators were &#8220;not just peaceful protesters,&#8221; contending the &#8220;riot&#8221; in Los Angeles was &#8220;not under control&#8221; as protesters were &#8220;throwing all types of objects at law enforcement.&#8221;
Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX), a military veteran, <a href="https://x.com/RepTonyGonzales/status/1931746619201827272" target="_blank" rel="noopener">voiced</a> support for Trump’s actions during a &#8220;Face the Nation&#8221; interview on CBS.
&#8220;It’s tragic to see what’s happening in LA,&#8221; Gonzales said. &#8220;I fought to give people the freedom to protest whatever the hell they want to, but what we’re seeing in LA are not advocates. We’re seeing anarchists, and the President of the United States should absolutely put down the mob as soon as possible. But this is just the tip of the iceberg.&#8221;
During his NBC appearance, Booker took a swipe at Trump, quipping that the president &#8220;talking to anybody right now about responsive law enforcement to protect people is hypocritical at best&#8221; because of matters related to January 6. He also warned that Trump&#8217;s decision to deploy the National Guard without a request from Newsom would &#8220;only incite the situation and make things worse.&#8221;
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, speaking on &#8220;Face the Nation,&#8221; <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIzS-RfqICI" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defended</a> the National Guard’s deployment to &#8220;provide security for operations and to make sure that we have peaceful protests.&#8221;

Accusations of media hypocrisy have erupted over similar hand gestures by tech billionaire Elon Musk and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ). Critics argue that the press unfairly targeted Musk while giving Booker a pass.
The debate stems from Musk extending out his right arm after placing his hand over his heart to the crowd during a Inauguration Day rally for President Donald Trump, which some labeled a &#8220;Nazi salute&#8221; and resulted in breathless news coverage, while Booker’s comparable wave at a recent California Democrats event has drawn far less scrutiny, prompting condemnation from conservative figures and commentators.

Booker&#8217;s team defended the senator, dismissing comparisons to Musk&#8217;s wave.
&#8220;Cory Booker was obviously just waving to the crowd. Anyone who claims his wave is the same as Elon Musk’s gesture is operating in bad faith. Democrats have been trying to come up with a fresh, original way to express their political positions and this week they finally found one: a sit-in! An idea so fresh and original, no one has thought of it since 1968, when leftism was still cool — because everyone was taking hallucinogens, so not only was leftism cool but there was also a giant pink rat eating your feet while you screamed for mercy.
The twelve hour sit-in on the steps of the Capitol came on the heels of an eight hour sleep-in where individual protestors expressed their views by lying unconscious on their beds at home for an entire night, followed by a 45 minute eat-in where the group gathered at various coffee shops and restaurants to defiantly drink coffee and eat some eggs and bacon with buttered toast and maybe a touch of strawberry jam. They then proceeded to the Capitol steps and, in a stunningly brave statement of opposition to something or other, actually sat down and continued sitting, in a way that would have made it very difficult for people to walk up the Capitol steps if they hadn’t been on their way to Michigan for the Trump rally.
The event was intended to inspire more support for Democrat policies like allowing gangster illegals to remain in our country, cutting the testicles off little boys so their mentally ill parents can pretend they’re girls, reading perverse pornography to kindergartners in public schools, and destroying our energy supplies and replacing them with gigantic windmills so that when China takes us over, they won’t have any electricity either.
To raise the inspiration level to even greater heights, the sit-in included a homosexual rabbi who led a sing-along while everyone around him joined in by averting their eyes and pretending they were someplace else where something different was happening.

After the sing-along, Cory Booker, the Senator from the state of completely ridiculous, made a speech to the imaginary multitude who would have been there had they not been on their way to Michigan. Booker said: “First of all, I want to thank the rabbi for violating every Old Testament precept to show his support for homosexuality today. It takes tremendous courage for a Jewish man to stand up in opposition to the law God gave to Moses since in the past that has never worked out very well. Even now, there’s a man with a ‘Free Palestine’ sign sitting right behind him so things are not looking good because, as we all know, the Palestinians would happily behead the homosexual rabbi and everyone he loves given half a chance. And so thank you for your courage, homosexual rabbi, and I say this even though I myself am not at all homosexual. In fact, I have a girlfriend in Canada where I sometimes visit her to have sex in a very manly male to female way that it is not homosexual at all. Because I am Spartacus, or at least I enjoy wearing a short leather skirt and prancing around without my shirt on, which amounts to the same thing in my book, a book that should be read to every five-year-old in public schools across this country so we can begin to change our culture until I don’t have to live this lie anymore. But in the meantime, let me just say: This is a moral moment. And no, I don’t know what that means exactly either, but it makes me sound very strong and masculine, so I guess it’s sort of like having a girlfriend in Canada. And in a moral moment like this moral moment, it is time for everyone to sit down like we’re doing here today and then continue sitting down until we have been sitting down for a very long time. That will surely improve the messaging for our insane and evil policies.”
After Booker’s stirring speech, the sit-in continued for another half hour, during which President Trump deported more gangsters, killed more terrorists, brought down prices, isolated China, ended government censorship, dismantled racialist hiring practices, protected women’s sports and lifted an ABC anchorman by the ankles then dipped his head in tar. But the sit-in was important too.

When pressed Sunday on whether he believes the Democrats have any evidence of profiteering linked to President Donald Trump&#8217;s tariff strategy, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), fresh off a record-breaking Senate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/spartacus-cory-booker-breaks-record-for-longest-senate-floor-speech" target="_blank" rel="noopener">speech</a> criticizing the commander in chief, sidestepped the question while backing calls for an investigation.
On NBC’s &#8220;Meet The Press,&#8221; moderator Kristen Welker noted some Democrats are seeking an insider trading probe after Trump’s “THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!” <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114308272725981913" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a>, followed by a 90-day <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-issues-90-day-pause-on-most-tariffs-raises-chinas-to-125" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;pause&#8221;</a> for countries targeted by the tariffs, except China, above a 10% baseline rate, and a Wall Street rebound.
&#8220;Do you believe that Democrats have any real evidence that anyone in the administration profited off of the president&#8217;s policies and announcements, or is this just a fishing expedition?&#8221; Welker asked Booker.
&#8220;You know, here&#8217;s the problem with Donald Trump and congressional Republicans, is our whole system was designed to have checks and balances,&#8221; Booker replied. &#8220;Now, Trump has designed an administration like none we&#8217;ve ever seen before. He is attacking the very agencies that are supposed to have independent oversight of these kind of actions. So, we see him hiring people based upon their loyalty, not based upon their expertise.&#8221;
The senator went on to say, &#8220;The real group that should be holding investigations and accountability and even just oversight, is Congress —&#8221;, before Welker interjected.
&#8220;But is there any evidence?&#8221; Welker asked. Booker sought to keep going, saying, &#8220;But for every outrageous thing he’s done —&#8221; and so did Welker, who followed up with the question: &#8220;Do you think there&#8217;s any evidence that anyone profited off of these tariffs?&#8221;
&#8220;There is enough of an offense here — there&#8217;s enough smoke here that should demand congressional hearings,&#8221; Booker said. &#8220;We are a separate and equal branch of government. The Constitution lays out very clearly that Congress is not supposed to be spineless and submissive. It is supposed to hold up oversight over the president. These are real, legitimate, justifiable questions, and not to have hearings, not to do any kind of oversight, undermines the faith we have in our government, undermines the trust we need in our nation right now.&#8221;

Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) made it clear on Friday that he was still willing to run cover for an obviously diminished former President Joe Biden — even after a slew of Biden&#8217;s former aides and media personalities have admitted just how compromised he was during his term in the White House.
Just off his record-setting filibuster stunt from earlier in the week, Booker made an appearance on Stephen A. Smith&#8217;s podcast, and he visibly balked when Smith asked what he would say to voters who were reluctant to trust the Democrats who covered up Biden&#8217;s obvious decline in the lead up to the 2024 presidential election.

&#8220;You brought up Joe Biden, and you talked about what legislation he obviously signed off on,&#8221; Smith began. &#8220;I ask this question: what about people that look at the Democratic Party right now and say, &#8216;You know this man was debilitating,&#8217; and you have the Republicans leaning on the fact that you hid that from the American people? And they think that that plays a role in things that are being held against you right now as a party. To that, you say what?&#8221;
&#8220;I don&#8217;t even know why that&#8217;s an issue,&#8221; Booker shook his head. He went on to say that he had spoken to Biden on the phone earlier that same day and &#8220;he sounded very compos mentis, he got very argumentative — not argumentative with me, but very fired up when he was talking with me. I don&#8217;t know, man.&#8221;
Booker continued in that same vein, insisting over Smith&#8217;s objections, &#8220;I never saw it. And he would call — this man would literally call me up to discuss policy. I&#8217;ve met no — I&#8217;ve met no president like him!&#8221;

Former President Joe Biden&#8217;s longtime communications director, Kate Bedingfield, tossed cold water on Senator Cory Booker&#8217;s (D-NJ) marathon speech on Tuesday, saying that it was unlikely to move the needle with regard to business as usual at the Capitol.
Bedingfield weighed in on Booker&#8217;s lengthy address — which, at 25 hours and five minutes, was the longest in U.S. Senate history — during an appearance on CNN shortly after the New Jersey senator passed the 24-hour mark, and she argued that the overall impact of the stunt was likely to be minimal at best.

Bedingfield gave the good news first, saying that she believed Booker&#8217;s lengthy diatribe might actually pull some weight with the Democratic base and with donors, whom she said were simply waiting for someone within the party to show &#8220;signs of life.&#8221;
&#8220;The Democratic base, and Democratic donors, are looking for signs of life,&#8221; Bedingfield said. &#8220;And so what I think Senator Booker is giving them here are — some signs of life. Is it going to have a tangible impact on business in Washington? No, it&#8217;s not.&#8221;

Bedingfield was far from the only one to mock Booker in the aftermath of his so-called &#8220;filibuster.&#8221;
Technically, Booker didn’t actually filibuster. There was no legislation under consideration for him to oppose, so he was just giving a floor speech — a record-breaking floor speech, sure, but not a filibuster. Still, that hasn’t stopped Democrats from celebrating Booker’s “filibuster,” a far cry from their condemnations of the tool.
