Former talk show host Wendy Williams might be released from her guardianship as rumors swirl that she’s feeling unhappy and trapped in her current situation.
The 60-year-old celebrity reportedly signed an affidavit on Wednesday petitioning a judge to end the current arrangement due to her &#8220;regained capacity&#8221; to function without a guardian, per sources who spoke with <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2025/02/12/wendy-williams-signs-legal-document-to-end-guardianship/">TMZ</a>. The outlet noted that Williams is slated to be evaluated by a doctor chosen by her attorney early next week to assert that she never had Frontotemporal Dementia since that condition never improves.
The source further stated that Williams’ lawyers are prepared to take the matter to trial if the judge denies her petition.
This development comes after TMZ dropped a documentary titled “TMZ Presents: Saving Wendy&#8221; detailing Williams living in a strict facility where she says she does not have access to the internet, incoming phone calls, or even fresh air.
In court filings, Williams’ guardian has claimed she “is cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.” But Williams told TMZ founder Harvey Levin she feels “fantastic” and is “not incapacitated,” per <a href="https://people.com/wendy-williams-claims-she-hasnt-seen-doctor-in-nearly-2-years-11679025">People</a>. 
Williams insisted earlier this month that she was misdiagnosed. “I don’t have frontotemporal dementia…it’s disgusting,” Williams said when she called into The Breakfast Club on February 5. “That’s a very rare thing for anybody to have.”
“I’m not incapacitated,” she said later. “I am not a baby.”
A prior phone call with the same radio show had Williams saying more of the same things about her condition and how she shouldn’t be in an assisted living facility. 
“I am not cognitively impaired but I feel like I am in prison,” the celeb said during a call in January, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/wendy-williams-speaks-against-court-ordered-guardianship-i-feel-like-i-am-in-prison">reported</a>. “I’m in this place with people who are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s. … These people, there’s something wrong with these people here on this floor. I am clearly not.”
She continued, “Listen, this system is broken, this system that I am in. This system has falsified a lot. For the last three years, I have been caught up in the system.”
Williams hosted “The Wendy Williams Show” from 2008 until 2021. She stepped down from hosting due to medical issues related to lymphedema and Graves’ disease, per Variety.

Multiple sources told <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2024/05/20/britney-spears-need-new-conservatorship-report-drugs-surveillance-danger/">TMZ</a> that the 42-year-old singer is reportedly often not taking her mental health medications and that they are concerned Spears’ “mental health is in a tailspin.”
Those with knowledge alleged that since the end of the conservatorship, Spears is reportedly drinking and using illegal drugs, after she previously struggled with substance abuse, the outlet noted.
The report alleged that sources say Spear’s reported boyfriend, felon Paul Soliz, is running “her household and her life,” with sources also claiming the pop star can&#8217;t be reasoned with because her “mood swings often turn into rages that end in physical violence.”

Sources told the outlet that Spears is in “grave danger,” with several people close to the singer reportedly speaking up about the alleged incidents in hopes that a California court will consider a new conservatorship, the <a href="https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/05/20/britney-spears-faces-grave-danger-as-paranoia-and-drug-use-worsen/">New York Daily News</a> noted.
In November 2021, a judge terminated her last conservatorship, which had been in place for nearly 14 years. It was the singer’s dad, Jamie Spears, who was in charge of that.
The most recent news follows <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2024/05/02/britney-spears-fight-injured-boyfriend-paul-soliz-chateau-marmont-mental-breakdown/">reports</a> from earlier this month that stated <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/britney-spears-claims-the-news-is-fake-after-report-of-altercation-at-hotel">Spears</a> “got into a huge fight” at a West Hollywood hotel with her boyfriend “and she ended up out of control, crying, possibly cut, and almost driven away in an ambulance.”
The next day, the “Womanizer” hitmaker posted images on social media of her “twisted ankle” and said “paramedics” showed up. In a <a href="https://people.com/britney-spears-posts-video-twisted-ankle-paramedics-hotel-incident-8642967">post</a> on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C6fQqhvJ8Od/?img_index=1">Instagram</a>, the singer shared two clips showing an injury she said she got at the Chateau Marmont with Soliz, whom she has been linked with following her divorce from Sam Asghari.
“I really twisted my ankle last night like an idiot. This is to show proof,” Spears said as she showed in the video her very swollen and bruised foot. “F***ing idiot here tries to do a leap in the living room at the Chateau, and I fell, embarrassed myself, and that’s it.”

The Beach Boys <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/music">member</a> Brian Wilson has been placed under a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/conservatorship">conservatorship</a> due to a “major neurocognitive disorder,” per <a href="https://apnews.com/article/brian-wilson-conservatorship-beach-boys-be53d427864ea9a32d3b4d438625683e">AP News</a>.
Wilson’s family originally filed for the conservatorship in February after the 81-year-old <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">musician</a> was diagnosed with dementia. They explained in a statement to Fox News why they felt the court-ordered measure was necessary.
“Following the passing of Brian’s beloved wife Melinda, after careful consideration and consultation among Brian, his seven children, Gloria Ramos and Brian’s doctors (and consistent with family processes put in place by Brian and Melinda), we are confirming that longtime Wilson family representatives LeeAnn Hard and Jean Sievers will serve as Brian’s co-conservators of the person,” the statement <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/beach-boys-brian-wilson-placed-conservatorship-following-dementia-diagnosis">said</a>. 
Prior to her passing, Wilson’s wife had provided for his “daily living needs,” court documents obtained by the outlet stated.
“This decision was made to ensure that there will be no extreme changes to the household and Brian and the children living at home will be taken care of and remain in the home where they are cared for by Gloria Ramos and the wonderful team at the house who have been in place for many years helping take care of the family,” the statement continued.
“Brian will be able to enjoy all of his family and friends and continue to work on current projects as well as participate in any activities he chooses.”
Wilson is a founding member of The Beach Boys along with his two brothers, Carl and Dennis. The siblings started the group in their California garage in 1961. Their cousin Mike Love also joined the band along with school friend Al Jardine. 
The Beach Boys were known for their vocal harmonies and became one of the most influential acts of their time, taking inspiration from older pop vocal groups, 1950s rock and roll, and R&amp;B to create a unique sound.

In a <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2024/04/29/britney-spears-broke-mental-health-dysfunctional-matthew-rosengart/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TMZ</a> report, sources close to the 42-year-old singer claimed that she’s burning through all her money with lavish, pricey trips to Hawaii and French Polynesia and is in “danger of going broke&#8221; just two-plus years after being released from her 13-plus year conservatorship held by her father Jamie Spears.
“She cannot afford this,” one source said. “She had $60 million when the conservatorship ended, and she&#8217;s now where the conservatorship started — in danger of going broke.”
The report also claimed that her mental health is in a “seriously dangerous” state, calling the mood swings “shocking.”
&#8220;She had lots of freedom in the conservatorship and the restrictions were there to protect her,” one source said. “She&#8217;s not protected anymore.&#8221;

However, sources who spoke to <a href="https://pagesix.com/2024/04/29/entertainment/britney-spears-blowing-through-money-post-conservatorship/">Page Six</a> blasted the “grossly exaggerated” TMZ report.
“She has no concept of money,” one insider said. “For over a decade, other people were in charge of her bank accounts, and every purchase had to be reported to the court — even if it was just a pack of gum. But now, she’s on her own.”
“She’s not broke,” the source added, “But she definitely could benefit from being more careful with her cash.”
Another source told the outlet that those in the superstar singer’s inner circle are “in a precarious position” because they don’t want to “rock the boat and make her feel like she is in a conservatorship again.”
“It’s tricky,” the source said. “No one wants to be Jamie 2.0. Between flying private and booking five-star villas, it can get costly — fast.”
A third source added, “She is not going broke but should keep an eye on private jets.”

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Recording artist</a> Cher’s temporary emergency conservatorship request for her 47-year-old son, Elijah Blue Allman, has been denied by the court.
The judge turned down <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cher">Cher’s</a> proposal saying that Allman “has managed his finances” and “has an apartment,” plus “ has remained drug free” after submitting “several <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/drugs">drug tests</a>,” per <a href="https://people.com/cher-son-elijah-blue-allman-temporary-emergency-conservatorship-denied-hearing-8551750">People</a>.
Allman was in court with his legal team and his estranged wife Marieangela King, while Cher appeared remotely. Her legal counsel was there in person.
Cher&#8217;s lawyers argued that Allman should have a conservatorship because of his schizoaffective disorder, which led to him being placed in several 5150 holds, the term for getting someone with a mental illness to be involuntarily detained for a 72-hour psychiatric hospitalization, in the last year.
“I don’t question Cher’s concerns being driven by concern for her son. I don&#8217;t think [Allman] questions that,” the judge said, ultimately determining that the reasons presented were based on “fears” but not on definite outcomes.
“That in and of itself is not basis for the court to appoint a probate conservatorship. I have not seen the evidence to grant a temporary, emergency conservatorship as of today,” the judge said in the ruling.
Cher had previously petitioned to become the sole conservator of her son’s estate in December, claiming that he is “substantially unable to manage his financial resources,” as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cher-files-for-conservatorship-of-son-elijah-for-severe-substance-abuse-issues">reported</a>.

The 77-year-old international pop star said her petition was “urgently needed … to protect Elijah’s property from loss or injury” because he is “currently unable to manage his assets due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues.”
Cher’s petition also mentioned Allman’s estranged wife, saying she should not be considered to fill the role of conservator. The document noted that “their tumultuous relationship has been marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises.”
Allman filed an objection to his mother&#8217;s petition claiming “no reason exists for the appointment of a conservator” because “there is simply no emergency that requires it.&#8221;
While he admitted that he &#8220;struggled with addiction and spent money in ways that have not always been the most responsible” in the past, he reported being on “a path to sobriety” and “under the care” of a doctor.

TV personality <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jay-leno">Jay Leno</a> filed to become the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/legal">conservator</a> of his wife&#8217;s estate following her dementia diagnosis.
The 73-year-old former <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/television">host</a> of “The Tonight Show” filed the paperwork in a Los Angeles courtroom on Friday, per <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2024/01/28/jay-leno-files-conservatorship-wife-mavis-dementia/72388172007/">USA Today</a>. The documents said that Leno’s wife, Mavis, 77, &#8220;presently lacks the necessary capacity&#8221; to make her own decisions. 
&#8220;Unfortunately, Mavis has been progressively losing capacity and orientation to space and time for several years,&#8221; the filing says. Mavis’ doctor added a capacity declaration confirming that Leno’s spouse &#8220;suffers from dementia, major neurocognitive disorder.&#8221;
The filing further states that Leno aims to manage Mavis&#8217; half of their shared property and her assets in a trust and would provide for her and her brother, the outlet reported.
Leno has been married to Mavis since 1980. The couple does not have any children.
Mavis kept a relatively low profile compared to her famous husband, but she was very devoted to feminist causes and has worked with non-profit organizations, including the Feminist Majority Foundation&#8217;s Campaign to Stop Gender Apartheid in Afghanistan, which she’s been involved with since 1997.
Leno made headlines last year after sustaining third-degree burns following a mishap while working on a car with a friend.
“The fuel line was clogged so I was underneath it,” Leno said in a Today Show interview in December 2022. “It sounded clogged and I said [to my friend Dave], ‘Blow some air through the line,’ and so he did.”

“I said to my friend, I said, ‘Dave, I’m on fire.’ And Dave’s like, ‘All right.’ I said, ‘No, Dave, I’m on fire.’ And then, ‘Oh, my God.’ Dave, my friend, pulled me out and jumped on top of me and kind of smothered the fire,” Leno said.
