A 21-year-old Ohio man was arrested after investigators say he threatened to shoot Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and those he described as &#8220;retarded maga maggots.&#8221;  
The Justice Department announced Thursday that federal authorities arrested Justin Mesael Novoa for threats to assault or murder a federal law enforcement officer and for threatening interstate communications. A raid of his home in December found two rifles, two shotguns, a handgun, ammunition, helmets, a plate carrier, and a Palestinian flag, according to the Justice Department. 
Novoa allegedly wrote on X on November 9, 2025, “can’t wait to shoot these p*ssy ice agents and retarded maga maggots.” Earlier in June, the account later identified as Novoa’s allegedly posted that “they should blast every ice agent they find” and “masked, unmarked vehicles, no badge or id. Every legal right to shoot these p*ssies.”

On December 16, an agent with Homeland Security Investigations served a summons to X to turn over information about the anonymous account that posted the messages. That yielded Novoa’s email and phone number, which investigators then tracked to him. 
When Homeland Security Investigation agents executed a search of his home on December 20, Novoa allegedly admitted to writing the posts. 
“Alright, you got me. That was me,” he said, according to the criminal complaint. “Damn, so Elon does give you access to that,” he reportedly said after agents asked him if the X account was his. 
The account identified as Novoa’s also had a history of making anti-white and anti-Jewish posts, according to the criminal complaint. 
This included posting things like “hitler should have finished the job,” “lets give it back and kill every white person except for the white women,” “id join hamas too. these filthy f***king subhuman rats deserve to be gassed and executed,” and “may the resistance stand tall and wipe out these filthy jews.”
If convicted, Novoa could face more than 10 years in prison. He is currently being held in jail by the Franklin County Sheriff&#8217;s Office. 
The case will be heard by Magistrate Judge Kimberly Jolson and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Timothy Prichard. A preliminary hearing was set for February 5.

Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) on Monday signed a declaration promoting Columbus Day in the state of Florida.
DeSantis&#8217; unequivocal comments in the declaration come as left-wing activists and politicians continue to redefine the holiday as &#8220;Indigenous Peoples&#8217; Day&#8221; and vilify the explorer.
&#8220;Columbus Day commemorates the life and legacy of the Italian explorer, Christopher Columbus, who made Europeans conscious of the existence of the New World and whose travels opened the door for the development of European settlements in the Western Hemisphere, which would ultimately lead to the establishment of the United States of America,&#8221; DeSantis&#8217; declaration said.
The governor noted that Columbus Day was first proclaimed a national holiday by President Benjamin Harrison in 1892, though, &#8220;until very recently,&#8221; the &#8220;unifying day for all Americans&#8221; has turned political.
&#8220;Columbus stands a singular figure in Western Civilization who exemplified courage, risk-taking, and heroism in the face of enormous odds; as a visionary who saw the possibilities of exploration beyond Europe; and as a founding father who laid the foundation for what would one day become the United States of America, which would commemorate Columbus by naming its federal district after him,&#8221; the proclamation continued.
DeSantis then touched on the significance of Columbus Day for Italian-Americans.
&#8220;Columbus continues to be a historical figure who engenders the pride of nearly 17 million Italian Americans, a community whose warmth, generosity, patriotism, and love of family have made those characteristics even greater components of the broader American culture and way of life,&#8221; it said.
DeSantis&#8217;s proclamation emphasized that &#8220;we must learn from history and continue to discuss Columbus&#8217; contributions, discoveries, and experiences rather than revise history, and acknowledge that individuals who seek to defame Columbus and try to expunge the day from our civic calendar do so as part of a mission to portray the United States and Western history in a negative light as they seek to blame our country and its values for all that is evil in the world, rather than see it as the force for good.&#8221;

The Boston Athletics Association (BAA) apologized on Friday for scheduling its annual Boston Marathon on Indigenous Peoples&#8217; Day.
The BAA put out a statement last week apologizing to Native Americans who felt “unheard” or “erased” by the race being scheduled on Indigenous Peoples&#8217; Day, October 11. The BAA pledged to take a number of steps after the apparent oversight such as meeting with tribal representatives and adopting a number of pro-Native American activities into its schedule. According to the <a href="https://www.baa.org/update-baa-indigenous-peoples-day">BAA</a>:
<blockquote>Prior to the start of the Boston Marathon, a land acknowledgement will take place to recognize that the race travels through Indigenous homelands. The B.A.A. is better understanding the trauma experienced over centuries by the Indigenous People who lived on these lands, and we will work with the Federal and State Recognized Tribes on this land acknowledgment.
The B.A.A. will donate to the Indigenous Peoples’ Day Newton Committee working through its fiscal agent, Newton Community Pride, and intended to support the work of the Indigenous Peoples’ Day Newton Committee, to fund their first-ever Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration.
The B.A.A. will celebrate Indigenous runners, Ellison Brown (Narragansett, champion of the 1936 and 1939 races) and Patti Catalano Dillon (Mi’kmaq, three-time runner-up), through its banner program across Boston. The B.A.A. will also recognize another champion, Tom Longboat from 1907, as well as other top Native American finishers in race history, through campaigns, features, and programming.
The B.A.A. will recognize Indigenous athletes participating in the 125th Boston Marathon over race weekend and on Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
In planning for Boston Marathon weekend and race day, the B.A.A. will continue to work with Indigenous runners and organizations who seek to strengthen Native youth and families through running. More information on this programming will be shared when it is finalized.</blockquote>
The BAA announcement is the latest instance of sports organizations, leagues, and teams mixing social justice messaging into their events. The trend blew up since the death of George Floyd last year, which sparked a wave of protests and riots as well as a push to defund police departments over alleged systemic racism.
On the anniversary of Floyd’s death in May, sports leagues put out a variety of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/one-year-after-the-death-of-george-floyd-the-sports-world-reacts">statements</a> all honoring the man, who was murdered by a Minneapolis police officer.
The NBA said: “One year ago, the killing of George Floyd advanced a global reckoning around systemic racism and inspired a movement for social justice. Today and every day, members of the NBA family stand united in working for change and a future that provides true equality.”
The WNBA added: “Today marks one year since the murder of George Floyd, and one year of concerted and collective action toward a more just future for all Americans. The WNBA family continues to advocate for social justice, and to represent a voice for the voiceless to make a meaningful difference.”
The NFL stated: “As we mark one year since the murder of George Floyd, out thoughts are with the Floyd family and all who have been affected by his death. This has been a year filled with reflection and reckoning, and that has renewed our commitment to build and strengthen our communities. The work for equitable justice must continue and the NFL and its clubs are proud to work alongside NFL players to build a more just society. #InspireChange”

Boston Athletics Association Apologizes After Scheduling Boston Marathon Over Indigenous Peoples’ Day

On Tuesday, after the Columbus, Ohio, police shot and killed Ma’Khia Bryant, 16, who had threatened two other teenage girls with a knife, but before body-cam footage of the incident was revealed, high-profile attorney Benjamin Crump, who had led the legal team that represented George Floyd’s family, leaped to a conclusion, tweeting that the Columbus police had “killed an unarmed 15yo black girl named Makhia Bryant.”
In a report on the incident, The New York Times decided to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/20/us/columbus-ohio-shooting.html">sanitize Crump’s tweet</a>, quoting him but leaving out the part of the tweet where Crump said Bryant was unarmed.
Crump tweeted in full, “As we breathed a collective sigh of relief today, a community in Columbus felt the sting of another police shooting as @ColumbusPolice killed an unarmed15yo black girl named Ma&#8217;khia Bryant. Another child lost! Another hashtag!#JusticeForMakhiaBryant.”
The Times acknowledged that official reports stated Bryant had been armed, writing:
<blockquote>Officials said the video showed the teenager lunging at two other females with a knife as the officer arrived at the driveway of a residence. The officer then fired several times — four shots could be heard in the video — at the girl. She collapsed to the ground next to a car that had been parked in the driveway, where the body camera footage showed a knife on the ground.</blockquote>
Then the Times quoted various people in the vicinity of the shooting expressing their misgivings about police, including one man who stated, “I’ve got daughters. And I’m tired of it. I feel like a polar bear with the ice caps melting. We have nowhere to run. If we protect ourselves, we go to jail. If we don’t, we die.”
The Times quoted another man who was with his daughters when they heard the shots, prompting them to call 911. He said, “How do I teach my daughters when you call for help, and you expect help to come, you could be on the other side of the gun?”
The Times then turned to Crump, deliberately leaving out his false description of Bryant being &#8220;unarmed&#8221; in quoting his tweet:
<blockquote>The teenager’s death quickly received widespread attention, including from Ben Crump, the Floyd family’s lawyer, amid a continuing reckoning over police accountability and systemic racism.“As we breathed a collective sigh of relief today, a community in Columbus felt the sting of another police shooting” Mr. Crump said. “Another child lost! The Times then segued to a meeting held Tuesday night at which the president of the Columbus City Council discussed implementing a civilian review board for police accountability.
City Council president Shannon Hardin stated, “As we watched the verdict from Minneapolis many talked about a sigh of relief, but there is a truth that for so many in our community there is no relief. This is not right. It’s not OK, and it can’t continue on.”
