The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cia">CIA</a> said it helped stop a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/terrorism">terrorist attack</a> that was being planned for a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/taylor-swift">Taylor Swift</a> “Eras Tour” concert in Vienna earlier this month.
CIA Deputy Director David S. Cohen made the revelation during the Intelligence and National Security Summit in Maryland this week, per <a href="https://time.com/7015913/taylor-swift-foiled-terror-attack-plot-suspects-killing-plans-cia/">Time</a>. He said the CIA passed intel to Austrian authorities, which they used to help shut down the scheme.
&#8220;They were plotting to kill a huge number, tens of thousands of people at this concert, I am sure many Americans,&#8221; Cohen said. &#8220;The Austrians were able to make those arrests because the agency and our partners in the intelligence community provided them information about what this ISIS-connected group was planning to do.&#8221;

The information led to canceling three sold-out concerts in Austria over the second weekend of August.
The main suspect, a 19-year-old Austrian man with links to the Islamic State group, was arrested shortly after. Bomb-making manuals and homemade explosives, detonators, and hydrogen peroxide were all found in his home.
“He wanted to carry out an attack in the area outside the stadium, killing as many people as possible using the knives or even using the explosive devices he had made,” Austrian official Omar Haijawi-Pirchner said at the time of his arrest. 
He said the teen’s confession showed he had been “clearly radicalized in the direction of the Islamic State and thinks it is right to kill infidels.”
Two other suspects, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, were also arrested for their part in planning the attack.
Swift shared a statement with fans at the conclusion of her scheduled shows in London, which had heightened security measures but ultimately went forward as planned.

“Having our Vienna shows cancelled [sic] was devastating,” she <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C-8sKGYymIC/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=c9a7024e-a077-4158-8be8-3ab3e2d75cb2&amp;img_index=1">wrote</a> on Instagram. “The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows.”
She went on to thank authorities for preventing a potential tragedy.
“Thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives,” Swift continued, mentioning how she intentionally waited to comment on the situation until her European shows were over. 
“Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows,” she shared on social media.

A &#8220;deeper investigation&#8221; is needed for looking into the infamous <a href="https://www.politico.com/f/?id=00000175-4393-d7aa-af77-579f9b330000" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> used to discredit the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hunter-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hunter Biden</a> laptop story weeks before the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/2020-election" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2020 presidential election</a> as crimes may have been committed, a top official from the Trump administration said on Sunday.
Former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, who was joined by former House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA), <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6356055594112" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spoke to &#8220;Sunday Morning Futures&#8221;</a> host Maria Bartiromo on Fox News about the <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2024-06-25%20The%20Intelligence%20Community%2051%20-%20How%20CIA%20Contractors%20Colluded%20with%20the%20Biden%20Campaign%20to%20Mislead%20American%20Voters.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">revelation</a> last week that some of the former  officials who signed the letter were on the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CIA</a>&#8216;s payroll at the time.
&#8220;The CIA is supposed to be apolitical and is charged by law under the Hatch Act and other restrictions from engaging in political activity,&#8221; he said. &#8220;What made this letter OK from one perspective early on was all of the assertions that these were former officials acting in their private capacity.&#8221;
Ratcliffe continued, &#8220;Now the CIA has admitted, and there&#8217;s testimony here, that at least some of these individuals were under contract with the CIA, which means Hatch Act violations and perhaps more serious criminal violations under Title 18 for election interference.&#8221;

The &#8220;revelation raises concerns that these officials may have abused their positions to expedite the statement&#8217;s approval and may have been earning taxpayer dollars while they did it,&#8221; the Weaponization of the Federal Government panel <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/media/press-releases/new-information-shows-cia-contractors-colluded-biden-campaign-discredit-hunter#:~:text=This%20revelation%20raises%20concerns%20that,and%20would%20hurt%20the%20Agency.">said</a> in a report.
In response to the findings, a CIA spokesperson insisted that the former officials were &#8220;not speaking for&#8221; the agency. And the report noted that Hatch Act political restrictions do not apply to contractors in the same way they do to CIA employees, though it proposed that lawmakers consider whether to extend the prohibition to contractors.
Ratcliffe said the House &#8220;has done some good work here&#8221; but added that the laptop controversy &#8220;really requires a deeper investigation, one that the Biden administration won&#8217;t undertake.&#8221; He went on to suggest his former boss, Donald Trump, could make that happen if he wins a second term in November.
&#8220;What has to happen here, Maria, is that when President Trump is sworn into office, a new CIA director, a new CIA inspector general, and a new attorney general for a Trump administration need a deeper investigation and potential criminal referrals here,&#8221; he explained.
&#8220;And the other thing I would say is, regardless of how all of this plays out, all of those former officials and current officials that were involved in orchestrating this should be irrevocably and permanently stripped of any security clearances or affiliation with the intelligence community,&#8221; Ratcliffe said.
He added, &#8220;Look, you know, Maria, that we have what&#8217;s called a debarment list where we put companies and individuals that defraud the government on a list and say, &#8216;You&#8217;re a bad actor, you can&#8217;t be affiliated or do business with the government anymore.&#8217; That needs to take place with these officials so this kind of political interference can&#8217;t occur anymore.&#8221;

Hunter Biden&#8217;s father, Joe Biden, was in the midst of running against then-President Donald Trump when the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/10/14/email-reveals-how-hunter-biden-introduced-ukrainian-biz-man-to-dad/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">began reporting</a> on details of the younger Biden&#8217;s shady business dealings and personal life contained in the copy of a hard drive.
The letter suggested the timing of the laptop story&#8217;s emergence had &#8220;all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.&#8221; POLITICO, which obtained the letter, <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/10/19/hunter-biden-story-russian-disinfo-430276" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published</a> a headline in 2020 saying the intel veterans were claiming the laptop story was &#8220;Russian disinfo.&#8221;
Many of the contents of the laptop and hard drive have been <a class="c-link c-link--focus-visible" href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/03/30/hunter-biden-laptop-data-examined/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-stringify-link="https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/03/30/hunter-biden-laptop-data-examined/" data-sk="tooltip_parent" data-remove-tab-index="true">analyzed and shown to be authentic</a> over the past few years, but during a debate in the final stretch of the 2020 election cycle, Joe Biden was able to <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/house-gop-demand-records-from-ex-intel-officials-about-hunter-biden-laptop-letter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cite</a> the letter to cast doubt on the Post&#8217;s reporting.
A new <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2024-06-25%20The%20Intelligence%20Community%2051%20-%20How%20CIA%20Contractors%20Colluded%20with%20the%20Biden%20Campaign%20to%20Mislead%20American%20Voters.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees, along with the Weaponization panel, said emails showed that at least some of the letter&#8217;s signatories were on &#8220;active contract&#8221; with the CIA during its drafting, review, and publication. A CIA employee&#8217;s internal email in response to the letter said, &#8220;This frustrates me. I don&#8217;t think it is helpful to the Agency in the long run.&#8221; Another said, &#8220;I also love that at least a few of the random signatories belong to individuals currently working.&#8221;
The report said the investigating committees requested the identities of all the CIA contractors on the letter, but the agency has not &#8220;declassified the complete list of individuals &#8230; due to purported operational security&#8221; beyond disclosing Morell and Buckley.
A chart shows that three—including ex-CIA Director John Brennan, former CIA official Marc Polymeropoulos, and former National Counterterrorism Center Director Nick Rasmussen—were not contracted with the CIA on October 19, the date of the letter.
Congressional Republicans previously revealed that Morell <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2023-04-20-jdj-mt-to-blinken-re-public-statement-on-hunter-biden-emails_0.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said &#8220;yes&#8221;</a> when asked if a call around mid-October 2020 from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/antony-blinken" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Antony Blinken</a>, an adviser to Joe Biden&#8217;s campaign who now serves as secretary of state, triggered a series of events that led to the letter.
Blinken <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blinken-denies-asking-for-hunter-biden-laptop-letter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">denied soliciting the letter</a>, but emails show Morell asked fellow intelligence veterans to add their names to it with a stated purpose of giving Biden&#8217;s campaign a debate &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-cia-chief-sought-debate-talking-point-with-hunter-biden-laptop-letter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">talking point</a>.&#8221; Another top Biden campaign official later <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/media/press-releases/new-testimony-reveals-secretary-blinken-and-biden-campaign-behind-infamous#:~:text=Morell%20testified%20that%20his%20communication,him%20for%20writing%20the%20statement." target="_blank" rel="noopener">thanked</a> him.
The new report noted Morell acknowledged it is &#8220;inappropriate for a currently serving staff officer or contractor to be involved in the political process,&#8221; though Hatch Act political restrictions do not apply to them in the same way they do to CIA employees.
&#8220;Such an overtly political action would be illegal under the Hatch Act for a permanent CIA employee. Congress ought to consider whether to extend this important prohibition to CIA contractors as well,&#8221; the report from the GOP-led House panels added.
Also mentioned in the report is how the CIA&#8217;s Prepublication Classification Review Board (PCRB) received a draft of the letter because former senior intelligence officials had signed it, and a top officer said he informed the top brass that it would be published soon.

While the report asserts senior CIA leadership had an opportunity at that time to &#8220;slow down the CIA’s process for reviewing publication submissions&#8221; and &#8220;ensure that such an extraordinary statement was properly vetted,&#8221; the agency defended its work.
A process in which CIA officers are required to &#8220;sign a secrecy agreement that includes a lifelong obligation to submit any and all intelligence-related materials&#8221; to the PCRB before they are published was followed, a CIA spokeswoman told the New York Post.
Confirmation by the PCRB that &#8220;information is unclassified is never an endorsement of the reviewed content or its veracity,&#8221; the CIA spokeswoman added. &#8220;These former officers were not speaking for CIA.&#8221;

According to IRS supervisory special agent and whistleblower Gary Shapley, Assistant United States Attorney Lesley Wolf told the prosecution team on the Hunter Biden investigation they could not pursue Kevin Morris, a benefactor of Hunter Biden, as a witness after she had a classified briefing with the CIA.
Shapley, who had previously alleged that President Joe Biden’s transition team was tipped off about the FBI’s plans to interview Hunter Biden, supervised line agents investigating Hunter Biden’s potential criminal violations. He was removed from the investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice in May 2023, after providing protected disclosures concerning prosecutors’ alleged mishandling of the investigation of Hunter Biden.
In <a href="https://gop-waysandmeans.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Shapley-Affidavit.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">testimony</a> released by House Republicans, Shapley said that in and around August 2021, the prosecution team was discussing witnesses who needed to be interviewed. “During a recurring prosecution team conference call in or around late August 2021, Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) Lesley Wolf told the team that she and DOJ Tax Attorney Jack Morgan had recently returned from the Central Intelligence Agency headquarters in Langley, Virginia, where they had been summoned to discuss Kevin Morris,” he wrote.
The Washington Free Beacon <a href="https://freebeacon.com/biden-administration/cia-blocked-irs-from-calling-hunter-bidens-sugar-daddy-as-a-witness-documents-show/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a> that Morris, an entertainment lawyer in Hollywood, California, who “controls Hunter Biden’s stake in a Chinese private equity firm,” “has spent at least $6.5 million on Hunter Biden’s legal fees, child support, and luxurious living arrangements in California &#8230; At the time of the CIA briefing, Hunter Biden was under investigation for allegedly not paying at least $1.4 million in taxes from 2014 through 2019.”
“AUSA Wolf stated that they were provided a classified briefing in relation to Mr. Morris and as a result we could no longer pursue him as a witness,” Shapley continued. “Investigators probed AUSA Wolf, but since her briefing was classified and she was apparently sanitizing it to an unclassified form to share over an open phone line, she did not elaborate with more information. She reiterated more than once that they were summoned to the CIA in Langley concerning Mr. Morris, and that because of the information provided there, he could not be a witness for the investigation.”
Shapley wrote that on August 20, 2021, he emailed Wolf asking for a classified briefing on the information the CIA had given Wolf about Morris, and Wolf “initially solicited DOJ National Security Division (NSD) Attorney Matthew McKenzie to assist with setting up the meeting.”
“McKenzie referenced a clearance level of T S &#8211; HCS-O as a compartmentalized section required to receive the briefing,” Shapley recalled. “It is believed that the HCS-O compartment is a CIA-specific sensitive compartment that was unlikely to have been obtained by DOJ Tax Attorney Morgan or AUSA Wolf. It is possible that this was simply another roadblock placed in front of investigators to continue to deny investigators access to all relevant information.”
Shapley said Wolf “ignored multiple attempts by me to arrange the briefing. &#8230; it served as yet another example of deviations from normal investigative processes in this matter. “

The effort to manipulate the information was headed up by John Brennan, Obama’s CIA director, who disregarded evidence that the Russians preferred Clinton because she was more predictable and highlighted questionable evidence claiming Russia favored Trump, <a href="https://www.racket.news/p/wmd-part-ii-cia-cooked-the-intelligence">sources</a> told independent journalists Matt Taibbi, Michael Shellenberger, and Alex Gutentag. 
“They cooked the intelligence,” a source close to a House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) investigation into the Trump-Russia scandal told the journalists. “They made it look like Putin supported Trump.”

The source said that the evidence pointed the other way, showing Russia wanted Clinton to win because “it was a relationship they were comfortable with.” According to the source, the CIA had evidence showing Russia viewed Trump as “unreliable,” “mercurial,” and “not steady,” while viewing Clinton as “manageable and reflecting continuity.”
HPSCI looked further into the sourcing of the claims from Brennan and the <a href="https://www.dni.gov/index.php/newsroom/press-releases/press-releases-2017/3035-odni-statement-on-declassified-intelligence-community-assessment-of-russian-activities-and-intentions-in-recent-u-s-elections" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Intelligence Community Assessment</a> (ICA) that Russia wanted Trump and found contradictory information.
“We looked at the report and the sourcing they used to evaluate the sourcing,” a source said. “When we dug further to look at the data available to them that they didn’t use, and it overwhelmingly contradicted their conclusions that Russia supported Trump.”
According to a source, Brennan and other intelligence agents “embellished” their Trump-Russia report by changing the categorization of sources that said Russia wanted Trump from unreliable to reliable.

Shellenberger <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2024/02/15/shellenberger_brennan_oversaw_the_manipulation_of_allies_to_entrap_trump_aides_to_create_pretext_for_fbi_probe.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Fox News host Jesse Watters on Thursday that there was a 50-page report exposing the operation that the CIA “is currently hiding at its headquarters.” According to Shellenberger, the controversy highlights two major intelligence scandals. 
“The first one happened earlier in 2016, where our sources, multiple sources, tell us that Brennan oversaw the manipulation of our foreign allies to basically entrap Trump associates to create the pretext for the FBI investigation of Trump&#8217;s alleged collusion with Russia which is now debunked,” he said.
“The second thing is almost a year later Brennan orchestrates a phony intelligence assessment that comes to the opposite conclusion of what their own raw intelligence, their best intelligence was showing,” he added. 
Trump was reportedly preparing to declassify information on the efforts to tie his campaign to Russia before leaving office but was unable to do so before President Joe Biden took office.

A Heritage Foundation-linked group is suing the CIA over records of its investigation into COVID-19 after a whistleblower said analysts were paid to change their conclusions.
The Oversight Project, a government watchdog launched by the Heritage Foundation, filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the CIA last week. The lawsuit seeks to compel the agency to produce records of its investigation into the origins of COVID-19, according to a copy of the suit obtained by <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2023/12/26/heritage-foundation-sues-cia-covid-records/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Caller</a>.
“This is an action under the Freedom of Information Act (‘FOIA’), 5 U.S.C. § 552, to compel production of CIA records relating to allegations that members of the CIA’s COVID Discovery Team, a group of employees tasked with analyzing the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, received monetary incentives to change their position on the origins of the virus,” the suit says.
The Oversight Project began seeking CIA records after a whistleblower testified to Congress that the agency offered payment to its analysts to change their findings about COVID-19’s origin. The CIA’s official finding about the origin of the illness are inconclusive.
Assessments from the Energy Department and the FBI <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/21/us/politics/covid-pandemic-lab-leak-intelligence.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> a leak from a lab in Wuhan, China, is the most likely origin of the virus. Five other agencies said the disease likely spread first from natural transmission, or that it spread to humans from animals through a wet market or some other vector.
House investigators into the origins of COVID-19 <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/release/testimony-from-cia-whistleblower-alleges-new-information-on-covid-19-origins/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in September that a senior-level CIA officer has said the agency offered money to its COVID investigators to change their conclusions. Republicans on the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence have requested more information from the CIA regarding its investigation.
“According to the whistleblower, at the end of its review, six of the seven members of the Team believed the intelligence and science were sufficient to make a low confidence assessment that COVID-19 originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, China,” Ohio Rep. Brad Wenstrup, who chairs the subcommittee, and Ohio Rep. Mike Turner, who chairs the Intelligence committee, said in a statement.
Oversight Project chief counsel Kyle Brosnan said the CIA and Biden administration are refusing to turn over important information about the origins of COVID-19.
“A CIA whistleblower has made serious allegations that the agency bought off employees of the agency to further obstruct efforts to get to the truth of the virus’s origins. This obstruction cannot stand and we’re fighting in federal court to get to the bottom of this,” Brosnan said, according to the <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/12/26/news/cia-accused-of-hiding-payments-to-bury-covid-lab-leak-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a>.

Ukraine intelligence forces, built up with significant investment from the CIA, have carried out attacks behind enemy lines on what Ukraine says are figures and infrastructure important to the Russian war effort.
U.S. officials are often not consulted ahead of a strike and are not involved in Ukraine’s assassination operations. Ukraine’s intelligence and spy operations are as capable as they are because of significant investment from the U.S. over the past decade, however, according to <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2023/10/23/ukraine-cia-shadow-war-russia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Washington Post</a>.
After Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, the CIA began investing what would eventually become an estimated tens of millions of dollars in Ukraine’s intelligence services. American officials built up Ukraine’s spy services to run intelligence operations against Russia – mainly intercepting Russian communications. Ukraine intercepted hundreds of thousands of Russian messages and routed them through facilities in the U.S. for American officials to parse through.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine last year, Ukraine has used its intelligence services to carry out several highly sensitive and lethal missions, such as blowing holes in Russian naval vessels and bombing the Kerch Bridge connecting the Russian mainland to the Crimean Peninsula. Other operations have included targets less directly related to the war effort, raising concerns that Ukraine’s covert operations may cause rifts between it and its allies.
No operation is conducted without approval from Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, officials told the Post. The Security Service of Ukraine, known as the SBU, and the intelligence division of Ukraine&#8217;s defense ministry, known as the GUR, have carried out dozens of assassinations against Russian targets since the war began.
Ukraine’s operations “has risks for Russia,” a former senior CIA official told the Post, “but it carries broader risks as well.”
“If Ukraine’s intelligence operations become even bolder — targeting Russians in third countries, for example — you could imagine how that might cause rifts with partners and come into serious tension with Ukraine’s broader strategic goals,” the official said.
Ukraine has targeted non-military partisans backing Russia’s war effort with bombs, such as a pro-Russia blogger who died in a St. Petersburg café. Another Ukraine intelligence operation targeted one of Russia&#8217;s best-known political philosophers, Aleksandr Dugin, an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The mission missed Dugin, however, and killed only his daughter.

One high-profile operation that Ukraine’s intelligence service has denied involvement in is the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines in September of last year. U.S. officials have reportedly obtained evidence linking the pipeline explosions and Ukraine; the CIA <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ukraine-made-plans-to-sabotage-nord-stream-pipelines-months-before-attack-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">obtained</a> plans for a Ukrainian operation against the pipeline drawn up months before multiple explosions ripped through the lines.
“All targets hit by the SBU are completely legal,” SBU director Vasyl Malyuk said in a statement. Ukraine “does everything to ensure that fair punishment will ‘catch up’ with all traitors, war criminals and collaborators.”
Ukraine’s covert operations have sparked criticism and concern that the missions are going too far, including from inside Ukraine. Valentin Nalivaychenko, former head of the SBU and current Parliament member, <a href="https://www.economist.com/europe/2023/09/05/inside-ukraines-assassination-programme" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suggested</a> last month that Ukraine should restrain its assassinations.
“Clowns, prostitutes and jokers are a constant around the Russian government,” he said. “Kill one of them, and another will appear in their place.”
“Our security services shouldn’t do things just because they can,” he added.

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) secretly escorted former chief White House medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci into its headquarters to &#8220;influence&#8221; the COVID-19 origins investigation, according to Republican lawmakers.
Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic Chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) said in a <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/2023.09.26-SSCP-Letter-to-HHS-OIG-Re.-AF-Movements.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> addressed to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Inspector General Christi Grimm that according to new information gathered by lawmakers, Dr. Anthony Fauci, then-director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), played a role in the CIA&#8217;s review of the origins of COVID-19.
&#8220;The information provided suggests that Dr. Fauci was escorted into [CIA] Headquarters — without a record of entry — and participated in the analysis to &#8216;influence&#8217; the Agency&#8217;s review,&#8221; Wenstrup wrote. &#8220;Our goal is to ensure the scientific investigative process regarding the origins of COVID-19 was fair, impartial, and free of alternative influence.&#8221;
Fauci&#8217;s alleged visit to the George Bush Center for Intelligence headquarters in Langley, Virginia, did not have a date attached to Wenstrup&#8217;s letter, nor did the subcommittee Chairman disclose who provided the information to the panel.
Wenstrup requested Grimm make Special Agent Brett Rowland available for a voluntary transcribed interview and all documents and communications between federal agencies, including HHS, NIAID, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
&#8220;The American people deserve the truth — to know the origins of the virus and whether there was a concerted effort by public health authorities to suppress the lab leak theory for political or national security purposes,&#8221; Wenstrup wrote.

But after the officers concluded their findings, the CIA whistleblower claims the intelligence agency offered financial incentives to six of the seven experts involved in the investigation to change their narrative on the virus, according to a letter sent to CIA Director William Burns.
&#8220;The seventh member of the Team, who also happened to be the most senior, was the lone officer to believe COVID-19 originated through zoonosis,&#8221; the letter continued. &#8220;The whistleblower further contends that to come to the eventual public determination of uncertainty, the other six members were given a significant monetary incentive to change their position.&#8221;
Questions about whether the virus leaked out of the Wuhan Institute of Virology or spread worldwide after the virus transmitted from animals to humans still divide U.S. agencies today.
The Department of Energy and the FBI were among the first federal agencies earlier this year to assess with moderate confidence that the pandemic&#8217;s origins were most likely a potential lab incident in Wuhan.
But the Office of the Director of National Intelligence declassified a long-awaited report in June about potential links between the Chinese lab and the origins of COVID, which stated three lab workers who became ill in 2019 could not be directly linked to the source of the pandemic as their symptoms were &#8220;consistent with but not diagnostic of COVID-19.&#8221;
Fauci, who led the COVID-19 response team for the White House in the Trump and Biden administrations, remains at the center of a conspiracy about the virus&#8217;s origins. He has publicly dismissed the lab leak theory since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.
Earlier this year, the coronavirus subcommittee pressed Fauci about U.S. funding to the Wuhan lab after it reportedly emerged the NIH gave U.S.-based EcoHealth Alliance a $3.7 million grant in 2014, which approximately $600,000 went toward the Wuhan lab to study bat coronaviruses.
Fauci previously claimed the U.S. never spent money on virus research in a lab. But during an interview with <a href="https://www.science.org/content/article/anthony-fauci-becoming-devil-and-warning-his-successor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Science</a> published on Monday, he appeared to have shifted his response about alleged funding for the specific gain-of-function research.
&#8220;I had no idea the grant to [EcoHealth and the Wuhan lab] existed until all this exploded,&#8221; Fauci said. &#8220;It&#8217;s $121,000-a-year grant, and I had a $6 billion portfolio.
&#8220;So, when I said to my people, &#8216;Tell me what&#8217;s going on,&#8217; they said. &#8216;This is the guidelines, and by no definition whatsoever is that gain-of-function of concern.&#8217; Now, people are saying maybe those guidelines are a little too loose. My feeling is, absolutely, you should reexamine that, and if you want to change it, change it.&#8221;

The CIA is planning to unleash an artificial intelligence tool to give analysts better access to sort through vast amounts of public information, according to a <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-09-26/cia-builds-its-own-artificial-intelligence-tool-in-rivalry-with-china" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bloomberg report</a>.
Randy Nixon, director of the CIA&#8217;s Open-Source Enterprise division, told the outlet that the ChatGPT-style tool will likely be used by all 18 U.S. intelligence agencies, like the National Security Agency (NSA), FBI, and various military agencies to find clues through primary information sources.
&#8220;We&#8217;ve gone from newspapers and radio, to newspapers and television, to newspapers and cable television, to basic internet, to big data, and it just keeps going,&#8221; Nixon said. &#8220;We have to find the needles in the needle field.&#8221;
Nixon said once an agency gathers such information, the analyst could start chatting and asking questions of the machines to provide sourced answers.
&#8220;Our collection can just continue to grow and grow with no limitations other than how much things cost,&#8221; he said.
Mass gathering of information from U.S. agencies comes as China has pledged to become the global leader in artificial intelligence by 2030, which has raised concerns over its use of AI in several surveillance systems to track civilians within the nation and worldwide.
FBI Director Christopher Wray accused China in July of stealing &#8220;more of our personal and corporate data than every nation big or small, combined,&#8221; warning that the Chinese government poses a &#8220;double&#8221; threat regarding AI, according to <a href="https://www.theregister.com/2023/09/26/cia_ai_tool/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Register</a>.
China &#8220;has already spent years stealing both our innovation and massive troves of data that turns out to be perfect for training machine learning models,&#8221; Wray said. &#8220;And now they&#8217;re in a position to close the cycle, to use the fruits of their widespread hacking to power with AI even-more-powerful hacking efforts.&#8221;

NSA&#8217;s Jason Wang, technical director for the Computer and Analytic Sciences Research Group, <a href="https://www.nsa.gov/Press-Room/News-Highlights/Article/Article/2702241/artificial-intelligence-next-frontier-is-cybersecurity/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in 2021 that AI would play a central role in the Intelligence Community&#8217;s efforts to secure and defend U.S. networks.
&#8220;I think the next frontier for us is probably in the cybersecurity space,&#8221; Wang said. &#8220;There&#8217;s a lot of opportunity … to bring machines to this very low latency, highly dynamic problem in ways that really are not human-time kinds of responses.&#8221;
&#8220;[Cybersecurity] is a space where we&#8217;ve gotten [AI] efforts underway that I think we&#8217;d love to mature along with our partners,&#8221; he said.
Earlier this year, Bloomberg reported that NSA Research Director Gil Herrera said the intelligence community needs to &#8220;find a way to take benefit of these large models without violating privacy.&#8221;
The CIA drafted Nixon earlier this year as the new Open Source Enterprise director to &#8220;speed up the agency&#8217;s development in open source intelligence just as the field is causing increasing concern and sparking rivalry in Washington,&#8221; according to <a href="https://www.intelligenceonline.com/government-intelligence/2023/01/13/randy-nixon-roped-in-to-get-cia-up-to-speed-on-osint,109901640-art">Intelligence Online</a>.
Nixon told Bloomberg the scale of how much the U.S. collects has grown over the last 80 years to a level that can sometimes be &#8220;daunting&#8221; and unusable for consumers.
He added that the AI tool would allow analysts move to a process &#8220;where the machines are pushing you the right information, one where the machine can auto-summarize, group things together.&#8221;

According to the whistleblower, Markridis &#8220;played a central role&#8221; in the formation and conclusion of the COVID investigation.
Markridis retired from the agency in 2022 after concluding his agency&#8217;s response to COVID.
Lawmakers also set a deadline on the same day for the CIA to turn over all records regarding the establishment of the COVID Discovery Teams, pay history that includes the awarding of any financial or performance-based incentive/financial bonuses, and all communications from those teams with all members of federal government agencies, including the FBI, State Department, Health and Human Services, Energy Department.

&#8220;If our intelligence and evidence supporting a lab leak was placed side by side with our intelligence and evidence pointing to a natural origins or spillover theory, the lab leak side of the ledger would be long, convincing, even overwhelming — while the spillover side would be nearly empty and tenuous,&#8221; added Ratcliffe.

Democratic presidential candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/robert-f-kennedy-jr" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Robert F. Kennedy</a> Jr. told podcast giant Joe Rogan this week that he is concerned about the CIA assassinating him.
RFK Jr. told Rogan that he believes he has to &#8220;be careful&#8221; because he believes that the U.S. government could kill him like he claims they killed his uncle, President John F. Kennedy.
“He said, ‘I wanna take the CIA and shatter it into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds,’” RFK Jr. said of JFK. “And for the next thousand days of his presidency, he was at war with his military and intelligence apparatus.”
Rogan asked RFK Jr., “But what do you think happens when you get into office? You’re talking about your uncle who was assassinated and you believe the intelligence agencies were a part of that. What happens to you?”
“Well, I gotta be careful,” RFK Jr. responded. “You know, I’m aware of that and you know, I’m aware of that danger and I don’t live in fear of it at all. But I’m not stupid about it and I take precautions.”
RFK Jr. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/robert-kennedy-jr-says-overwhelming-evidence-suggests-cia-was-involved-in-jfk-assassination" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> earlier this year that “the evidence is overwhelming that the CIA was involved in the murder and in the cover-up” of his uncle.
