Former Republican Rep. Mike Rogers has been visiting churches across Michigan during his Senate campaign, and has found that people of faith in the battleground state are worried about one issue above the rest: the economy.
Rogers has visited around a dozen places of worship, traveling from the urban centers of Detroit and Pontiac to the towns of Traverse City in northwest Michigan and Marquette in the Upper Peninsula. Rogers told The Daily Wire that the church visits allow him to worship with Michiganders of diverse faith backgrounds, and then hear their perspective after services.
During his conversations with Christians and church leaders, Rogers said that kitchen table issues are the concerns most often discussed.
&#8220;A big part of it is what you would hear everywhere else: the cost of groceries, the cost of energy bills, their ability to try to make their paycheck last until the end of the month,&#8221; Rogers told The Daily Wire. &#8220;So many people are literally living paycheck-to-paycheck. That is always front-and-center.&#8221;
Rogers said that moral issues — such as men competing in women&#8217;s sports — remain important topics for Christians in Michigan, but because &#8220;things have gotten so hard&#8221; financially over the past three-and-a-half years, people of faith are focusing on economic problems.
&#8220;People of faith are like every other person who&#8217;s worried about their cost of goods and services, and they&#8217;re also worried about the moral aspect of the environment their kids are growing up in,&#8221; Rogers continued.
Rogers is currently trailing Democrat Rep. Elissa Slotkin by five points, according to the <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/senate/general/2024/michigan/rogers-vs-slotkin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RealClearPolitics</a> polling average. The Michigan race, which was blown wide open after Democrat Sen. Debbie Stabenow announced last year that she would retire at the end of her term, is one of the numerous races Republicans are hoping to win to gain back control of the Senate. Republicans have not won a Senate race in Michigan since 1994.
The Senate candidate argued that Evangelicals and Catholics &#8220;feel very disconnected&#8221; from Slotkin, who Rogers slammed for voting &#8220;100% for the Biden-Harris agenda.&#8221; He added that the pastors and priests he&#8217;s talked to are trying to help address their congregants&#8217; financial needs while also &#8220;making sure they don&#8217;t step away from faith when times get really hard.&#8221;
Pastor Lorenzo Sewell of Detroit&#8217;s 180 Church, one of the places of worship Rogers recently visited, told The Daily Wire that his roughly 300 congregants are mainly concerned about the economy and immigration.
&#8220;People know that the rhetoric isn&#8217;t real as it pertains to the Harris and Walz ticket. They know the rhetoric isn&#8217;t real as it pertains to wages going up,&#8221; Sewell said. &#8220;Just because the median income goes up on paper, that doesn&#8217;t mean I have enough money to meet the end of the month.&#8221;

Sewell, who addressed the Republican National Convention in July, added that the people in his majority-black community know the economy &#8220;bleeds over into the immigration issue.&#8221;
&#8220;We&#8217;re hearing people say that it would be better to take a three-day journey and leave the country and try to come back in because immigrants in our community are being treated better than those who are legally there,&#8221; he said. &#8220;These are real pain points for people in poverty today.&#8221;
Former President Donald Trump also visited 180 Church in Detroit for a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeP6Hbd74nI" target="_blank" rel="noopener">roundtable discussion</a> in June. Sewell said that Trump and Rogers coming into the black community and visiting his church &#8220;set a new trajectory&#8221; for the Republican Party in Michigan. He argued that the Democratic Party has enjoyed most of the support from black voters while &#8220;pillaging&#8221; the black community for decades.
&#8220;You need a guy like Mike to fight for us,&#8221; Sewell said, adding. &#8220;I don&#8217;t have any personal problems with Elissa Slotkin, but her policies are not real as it pertains to people in poverty.&#8221;
Rogers&#8217;s focus on connecting with people of faith hasn&#8217;t been limited to Christians. The Senate candidate also said he has visited a Buddhist temple and has met with Muslim leaders.
&#8220;Set aside the Israel-Palestine issue for a minute, and Muslim voters line up with Republicans,&#8221; Rogers said. &#8220;They&#8217;re very conservative. They&#8217;re socially conservative. They&#8217;re fiscally conservative. They&#8217;re worried about the future of the country that they have come to live in and enjoy. And they&#8217;re worried about the state of education for their kids.&#8221;
&#8220;They&#8217;re small business owners,&#8221; he added. &#8220;They worry about the economic environment and what this heavy regulatory regime coming out of the Democrat Party is doing to them, not for them.&#8221;

Republican presidential nominee <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> said this week that he believes the U.S. needs to get back to having more religion if things are going to get better.
The former president made the remarks during a podcast interview with Lex Fridman that aired on Tuesday when asked if he was afraid of death — a question that comes just several weeks after a would-be assassin shot Trump in the ear at a political rally in Pennsylvania.
After recounting talks with an unnamed friend of his whom he says has a &#8220;dark&#8221; mindset about the future and death, Trump said that religious people have a better outlook on such things.
&#8220;You’re supposed to go to heaven, ideally, not hell, but you’re supposed to go to heaven if you’re good,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;I think our country’s missing a lot of religion. I think it really was a much better place with religion.&#8221;
&#8220;It was almost a guide,&#8221; he added. &#8220;To a certain extent, it was a guide. You want to be good to people. Without religion, there are no guardrails. I’d love to see us get back to religion, more religion in this country.&#8221;

Christian communities throughout <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nigeria" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nigeria</a> have been completely destroyed by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/radical-islam" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Islamic terrorists</a>, according to interviews with persecuted Christians conducted by religious liberty advocates.
The interviews were included in a <a href="https://media.opendoorsuk.org/document/pdf/No-Road-Home-Advocacy.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> released Sunday by Open Doors International, a religious freedom advocacy group, which found that thousands of Christians have been killed and displaced in Nigeria in increasing numbers since 2020. Open Doors interviewed hundreds of persecuted Christians, many of whom were sheltering in camps throughout the country.
“Extremist violence across parts of Nigeria over the last decade has resulted in mass displacement of Christian communities, amongst others,” the report said. “They have been singled out for violence, face harsh living conditions and experience faith-based challenges throughout their displacement journey. Nigerian state security personnel regularly failed to respond in a timely or effective manner to violent attacks against Christians.”
The violence has been primarily taking place in the northern states of Borno and Plateau, where there are lots of Islamic militants and violent Fulani herdsmen. About 2.7 times more Christians are killed in violent attacks than Muslims with at least 16,769 Christians being killed from October 2019 to September 2023. Christians are also the disproportionate victims of kidnappings.
For the report, Open Doors interviewed 292 Christians and humanitarian workers from January to April 2024 about their experiences with the persecution. Interviewees were primarily Christians who had been displaced within the country, with some workers from humanitarian agencies also interviewed.

One Christian displaced from Borno said that all the churches in the area of Gwoza were burned to the ground.
“Now, all the churches in Gwoza have been destroyed by Boko Haram, and many of the Christians have fled and are living as IDPs in different locations,” the interviewee said. “Since the attacks and the destruction of churches in Gwoza, I have not returned, and the churches are still in their deplorable state since their destruction.”
Another Christian said that the Christian population of another area in Borno had been completely replaced.
“I think for Goshe even during the time of displacement most of the community members were Christians,” the interviewee said. “But now the resettled members are almost ninety percent Muslims in the place I went to. It used to be a Christian community, but now it is a Muslim community.”
Other interviewees said that they struggled to defend themselves from attacks because they were armed with only a few small guns while their attackers had more sophisticated weaponry.
One of the main groups behind the attacks is Boko Haram, a radical Islamic group that has targeted Christians for years.
“Boko Haram target people that are working with the church, maybe you have a position like Secretary or you have any position in church, you are a target. In every community they have a list of people they are looking for,” an interviewee said.
If they survive the attacks on their villages, then the Christians also face struggles finding food and shelter. Many of the camps for displaced people discriminate against Christians and do not give aid to those with Christian names. Many people also refuse to rent out property to Christians.
Open Doors CEO Ryan Brown <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/faith-values/thousands-christians-deliberately-targeted-killed-nigeria-new-report-says" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Fox News on Tuesday that much of the world was ignoring the violence against Christians in Nigeria.
&#8220;The rest of the world seems to be turning a blind eye,&#8221; he said. &#8220;People are not talking about it. People are not aware of the realities, and therefore people aren&#8217;t doing anything about it.&#8221;

Jennifer Butler on Wednesday as its national faith engagement director. The leftist activist claims that Christianity has been &#8220;hijacked by white supremacists&#8221; and believes the Democratic ticket gives Christians &#8220;an opportunity to reclaim faith for justice.&#8221;
Butler is a minister in the liberal Presbyterian Church (USA) denomination and founded the leftist think tank and activist group, <a href="https://www.faithinpubliclife.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Faith in Public Life</a>, in 2005, Religion News Service <a href="https://religionnews.com/2024/08/28/harris-walz-campaign-hires-rev-jen-butler-longtime-religious-advocate-to-lead-faith-outreach/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Faith in Public Life has campaigned for leftist policies on issues ranging from immigration and voting to abortion and LGBT rights. Now, the PC USA minister directs most of her public comments toward attacking Republicans and condemning &#8220;Christian nationalism.&#8221;
Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/harris-camp-hires-activist-reverend-who-claims-christianity-has-been-hijacked-by-white-supremacy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that in 2022, Butler wrote a response to the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot and the months of Congressional hearings that took place after and claimed that &#8220;white supremacists&#8221; were &#8220;hijack[ing]&#8221; the Christian faith. She also called on Christians to &#8220;denounce Christian nationalism.&#8221;
&#8220;We must do more than just watch the January 6th hearings aghast. We cannot allow our faith to continue to be hijacked by white supremacists covered in religious language,&#8221; she wrote. &#8220;For the sake of our faith and our democracy, we must denounce Christian nationalism and reclaim a faith that values and affirms the human dignity of all people. Including our own.&#8221;

Mike Johnson&#8217;s election as Speaker of the House &#8220;a threat to global democracy.&#8221; She argued that Johnson represents political leaders who manipulate religion and called on &#8220;religious communities in the US&#8221; to &#8220;challenge the growth of Christian nationalism.&#8221;
Two years prior, in November of 2021, Butler joined a list of faith leaders who <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CWeCGSoPtw8/?igsh=MWNzdjYwMDZzYmh2ZA%3D%3D&amp;img_index=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">condemned</a> the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse after he shot three protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in self-defense. Butler accused Rittenhouse of &#8220;murdering&#8221; the two men who died after they were shot and called the not-guilty verdict &#8220;the newest face of an old evil.&#8221;
After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Multiple Ohio State star football players led a large Christian revival on the university&#8217;s campus on Sunday night that attracted between 800 and 1,000 people and resulted in dozens of baptisms.
Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau, and former OSU wide receiver Kamryn Babb led the revival service, according to student-run newspaper <a href="https://www.thelantern.com/2024/08/ohio-state-football-players-participate-in-christian-baptism-ceremony-outside-of-curl-market-over-800-gather-to-observe/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Lantern</a>. The event organizers, which included churches from the Columbus area, set up four tubs filled with water where around 60 students who attended the meeting were baptized at the end of the night, The Lantern reported.
During the meeting, the OSU football players talked about their faith in Jesus, and the crowd participated in singing worship songs. Babb, whose playing career was cut short by four ACL-related injuries, discussed how he didn&#8217;t realize how &#8220;broken&#8221; he was before he felt &#8220;the weight, the love, the grace, the mercy of God wrap [him] like a blanket.&#8221;
&#8220;I was just doing my thing because it was fun, and I&#8217;ll tell you this: I was on High Street, and I enjoyed it,&#8221; Babb told the crowd. &#8220;I had fun. But at the same time, I didn&#8217;t recognize my condition. I was spiritually dead. I could go out there, and I could smile and laugh &#8230; but on the inside, I was broken.&#8221;

After the players shared their messages, around 50 attendees joined them on stage to pray before many decided to be baptized, according to The Lantern. After people were baptized, volunteers helping with the event led them to a nearby building where they gave them Bibles and helped them read through Scripture.

In 2011, Allen opened up about his struggle with faith following his father’s death after being struck by a drunk driver. The actor was 11 years old at the time of the accident.
“For years, I just did not like this idea of God, church,” he said at the time, per <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/blogs/entertainment/2011/11/funnyman-tim-allen-serious-about-god">ABC News</a>. “[I was] still a churchgoer, but constantly a cynic.”
He said he eventually started referring to God as “The Builder.”

Purple Heart recipient and current Nevada Senate nominee <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/michael-the-wounded-warrior-sam-brown-member-exclusive" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sam Brown recently spoke to Daily Wire host Michael Knowles</a> about his near-life-ending experience in Afghanistan and his journey from the battlefield to the political arena in the latest episode of the interview series, &#8220;Michael &amp;.&#8221;
Only four months into his deployment in 2008, Brown&#8217;s M1151 Humvee was struck by an IED (an improvised explosive device) in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Brown, then 24, was covered in diesel fuel and engulfed in flames. He miraculously survived, but suffered burns to 30% of body, including his face and other exposed areas, and lost his left index finger.
Describing the incident to Knowles, Brown said all he heard was silence due to the overpressure from the blast, and saw a &#8220;ball of fire&#8221; completely engulf him.
&#8220;That&#8217;s all I could see,&#8221; Brown said. &#8220;And my face was on fire because of where the roadside bomb went off underneath our vehicle was the fuel tank. So it blows up, I&#8217;m covered in diesel fuel &#8212; I&#8217;m now this human torch.&#8221;

At that moment, he recalled, he &#8220;suddenly realized&#8221; who he was: &#8220;I am weak,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I could not even guarantee my own life would extend past the next 60 seconds.&#8221; 
This realization came in stark contrast to how Brown previously thought of himself, as an invincible 24-year-old West Point grad who just made it through Ranger School.
During that split-second realization of his own weakness, Brown knew he needed God. 
&#8220;I threw my arms in the air in a moment of desperation,&#8221; he told Knowles. &#8220;There was true conviction that I needed God, and I screamed, &#8216;Jesus, save me.'&#8221;
There was &#8220;no miracle&#8221; in that exact moment, the vet explained. &#8220;I&#8217;m just burning and burning,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The only thing I can hear is my own voice. It&#8217;s a haunting scream when a man believes he&#8217;s dying. You can&#8217;t recreate it. And I&#8217;m screaming for God. I&#8217;m screaming for my mom. I got to this place where I realized I couldn&#8217;t get these flames out, and I had these three final thoughts: How long is it going to take to burn to death? What&#8217;s the transition from this life to the next going to be like? And I made the decision to give up the will to live.&#8221;
&#8220;The miracle then came right after I gave up the will to live, because at this point, death is now going to actually be a relief,&#8221; Brown continued. 
Then, he heard a voice from one of his soldiers. &#8220;He said, &#8216;Sir, I&#8217;ve got you.&#8217; And it cut through everything, and I suddenly had hope and a bizarre peace that I knew I wasn&#8217;t going to die.&#8221;
That feeling of hope is something Brown wants to bring to other people, he explained.
&#8220;I feel a burden or a calling to give hope, because I know the power of receiving hope,&#8221; Brown said. &#8220;It came to me on the battlefield, and that was just that short phrase, &#8216;Sir, I&#8217;ve got you.'&#8221;
&#8220;Just knowing that someone was there for me &#8212; who, by the way, was putting himself at risk.&#8221; Brown explained that the soldier was also burned in the vehicle explosion.
&#8220;It&#8217;s words with action,&#8221; he emphasized.
During the interview, Brown also discusses his journey to politics, as he&#8217;s currently running for Senate in Nevada. He said his goal &#8212; drawing on his post-9/11 experience in the U.S. Military &#8212; is to put &#8220;mission and people&#8221; before partisan politics.

Jordan B. Peterson: I am curious about how you know the difference between your will and what should be done. The prayer — to do the father&#8217;s will on earth as it is in heaven — is different from pursuing your own short-term interests. But you can be deluded about that. So how do you know? How do you test your own motivation to determine whether what you are doing is truthful or just another snare of deception?
John Rich: I think one place, with respect, that I think you are wrong on this subject and that you miss it, is that you think human beings have the capability to decide between left and right, truth and lie, all these things that are going on, and we&#8217;re just not capable of it. I&#8217;ll put it to you this way: I am not looking at the real Jordan Peterson. I&#8217;m looking at what Jordan Peterson lives in for a while. You&#8217;re not looking at John Rich. I just live in this thing for a while. The real Jordan Peterson lives forever. He&#8217;s an eternal being. He was created by the creator, and he was put in that body that you&#8217;re in right now to last as long as it&#8217;s going to last. And then that body is going to die. And then the real Jordan is released from that body, same way it goes for me. 
So the only way a human being can discern what is true and what is a lie is you better have Jesus inside of you because he&#8217;s the ultimate truth. So when things come at you that are lies, which is every single day — including lies you might tell yourself or make yourself think something is not true, have a notion about something and it seems really strong — you ask Him: Is that true? Like, am I thinking about this right? 
And you pray about it and you go, if this is wrong, don&#8217;t let me do that. You know, put me in the right spot, even though it seems totally obvious that I should do this in my own eyes. And He will. But the only way that works is if you have yielded to Him, turned over the entire control to Him, become a bondservant to Him. He&#8217;s the ultimate truth. If a lie comes into contact with the ultimate truth, which one is more powerful at that point? Is the truth more powerful than the lie? Of course it is. It’s the ultimate power, the real truth.

Peterson: When you were deciding to move away from the studio and record-label life, how did you come to the determination? You mentioned prayer, but how did you come to determine that was the appropriate path, that it was not just another form of ego game? You said part of it — acknowledging there is a big risk in it — so there is an obvious sacrificial component to that which speaks of its truth. But I am really interested in the details. And then the other issue that I am curious about is, when you talk about prayer and you are using your prayer to discern the truth, what is it that you are praying for that enables you to benefit from that discernment?
Rich: What a great question. So, the Holy Spirit. It says in the Bible that, to His children — the real ones, the ones that have turned it over to Him — He will send the Holy Spirit to help you and guide you and navigate for you. You have to ask for that. You pray and say, “Please send the Holy Spirit to me because I can&#8217;t figure this out. I&#8217;m having trouble. I don&#8217;t know what to do. What am I supposed to do right now?” You ask for that, and He will send it. And then in your being, you feel if [you’re] making a wrong move. “Am I supposed to go left? Right? Straight? Not move at all? Or a step back? Which one am I supposed to do?” It will become very clear to you.
It&#8217;s called discernment. We&#8217;re told, we&#8217;re commanded, multiple times — If you read Proverbs, you read what King David wrote; discernment was everything. I mean, that&#8217;s like King Solomon. King Solomon asked for that. King Solomon asked for wisdom and discernment. He wanted to be able to discern because it&#8217;s the hardest thing for a human being to do. How do I know? How do I know what I&#8217;m supposed to do? And if you&#8217;re only relying on your own physical self to figure that out, you&#8217;re never going to get it right — ever. You&#8217;re never going to get it right. And so the Holy Spirit, that&#8217;s who comes in. And he is the discernment that you&#8217;re asking for. Now, He may not tell you the second you ask for it, but if you ask for it and you&#8217;re serious about it and that&#8217;s what you really want, he&#8217;ll send it to you and you&#8217;ll get it.
And so I think to your conversation about the music industry and all that stuff, I could feel it. I could feel he was telling me, it&#8217;s time for you to get out of here, bud. Time to go. Time to go. Things like my kids reacting to things, my wife reacting to things, me personally reacting to things. That was his way of going: Ding, ding, ding. Pay attention, John. Time for you to move. I know you&#8217;ve been doing this your whole life. I know this was your American Dream. I know this is what you think you were built to do, and maybe you were for a period of time. But I got something else for you to do.

Rich: If you feel Him — you feel Him knocking at the door, open the door. It&#8217;s very simple. You don&#8217;t need a preacher; you don&#8217;t need a priest. You don&#8217;t need anybody to sit down with, to give your life to Jesus, and go to heaven. You don&#8217;t need anybody. You can sit there all by yourself, and you can reach out to him, and you can give your life to him right there anytime you want to. … And again, we&#8217;re all going to have to go to that point. Everybody&#8217;s going to die. Everybody. And the second you die, [the Bible] says to be absent from the flesh is to be present with God. Boom. Just like that. And you&#8217;re standing in front of the boss. And what are you going to say to him? What&#8217;s he going to say to you? That&#8217;s the only conversation any human being should be concerned about. … The stakes are the eternal stakes out here. You are supposed to go say that. 
And let me tell you something, doctor, as we wrap. You could be one of the most powerful weapons in the hand of God that He ever slung — ever — because of the intellect that you have, because of the platform that you have, because of the millions of people, and what you&#8217;ve learned. You&#8217;ve read every word of the Bible, you&#8217;ve dissected it, you know what it is. And the day that becomes absolutely life-and-death real to you, you sir, could be one of the most powerful human beings, in my opinion, that ever walked the face of the earth.

Daily Wire reporter Megan Basham’s new book “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Shepherds-Sale-Evangelical-Leaders-Leftist-ebook/dp/B0CRQGNLMY">Shepherds for Sale: How Evangelical Leaders Traded the Truth for a Leftist Agenda</a>” hit the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists on Wednesday after the book was released last week. 
“Shepherds for Sale” reached the #12 spot on the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/books/best-sellers/combined-print-and-e-book-nonfiction/">New York Times</a> bestseller list and the #109 spot on the <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/booklist/type/nonfiction/date/2024-08-07">USA Today</a> list among all books, competing with new releases such as Jonathan Haidt’s “The Anxious Generation” and Erik Larson’s “The Demon of Unrest.” It’s the first time Basham has hit the bestseller lists.

Their goal: to co-opt evangelicals for political purposes.” Basham’s book quickly jumped to the #1 bestseller in the Christian Church Leadership category on Amazon. 
“Shepherds for Sale” also details how a megachurch pastor pushed fellow pastors to move their views on sexuality to the Left and how leftist talking points on climate change and “systemic racism” have crept into American churches. Following the book’s release, Basham urged evangelical leaders to “get serious about tracing the secular Left influences in any number of evangelical institutions.” 
Basham’s book caused a stir on social media after its release as some of the evangelical leaders exposed in “Shepherds for Sale” have pushed back against the Daily Wire reporter. One pastor, Gavin Ortlund, even released a podcast episode on Basham’s book after she highlighted some of his troubling comments on climate change in “Shepherds for Sale.” Despite some pastors’ efforts to discredit Basham’s work, many Christians have heaped praise on the book.
“When church leadership does not know who is behind an organization, they should not agree to sign their public statements or participate in their coalitions. Also, the time for politely ignoring what is going on has come to an end,” Basham said. “It is time to follow the model of J. Gresham Machen in the 1920s and begin to directly call out compromise, capitulation, and infiltration. As he has stated, liberalism is an altogether different religion than Christianity.”

Most normal people who had the unfortunate fate of turning on the Paris Olympics opening ceremony were at least a little weirded out by the images on the screens in front of them. For Christian viewers, the opening ceremony was downright blasphemous.
The ceremony featured a parody of The Last Supper that showed a large woman wearing a halo and presumably representing Jesus surrounded by drag queens. It was rightfully blasted by Christians and conservatives who saw the stunt for what it truly was: a mockery of Christianity.

Sadly, the despicable opening ceremony wasn’t all. Shortly into the boxing competition in Paris, it became clear that the women were at a disadvantage as two boxers who failed gender tests last year brutalized their competition and both reached the semifinals. 
One female competitor forfeited within 46 seconds of her match with Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who was disqualified during the 2023 World Championships after failing a gender test. Khelif then advanced to the gold medal match with another win against a woman on Tuesday.
Another female lost her chance to win gold when Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting defeated her. Lin Yu-ting also failed a gender test that was conducted by the International Boxing Association (IBA) last year. 
The IBA also held a press conference this week, defending its gender tests on the boxers. “The blood results look and say — the laboratories — that this boxer is male,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/this-boxer-is-male-iba-holds-explosive-presser-says-2-olympic-boxers-failed-gender-chromosome-test">said</a> Dr. Ioannis Filippatos, the former Chair of the IBA Medical Committee. 
The Olympics, for obvious reasons, is one of the biggest opportunities for companies to advertise their products to the world. Spending millions of dollars on ads during the Olympics could boost companies in ways that just aren’t possible at any other time of the year. 
But there comes a time when it’s just plain wrong to give your money to the people comfortable with planning and broadcasting a ceremony that disrespects the largest religion in the world and approves of women competing against boxers whose biological sex is in question.
C Spire, a telecommunications and technology company, recognized that a line had been crossed and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tech-company-drops-olympics-support-over-mockery-of-christianity-in-opening-ceremony">pulled its advertising</a> from the Olympics, saying it was “shocked” by the opening ceremony. While the Olympic organizers “apologized” to people who were disgusted by the opening ceremony, they defended the drag queen-themed Last Supper. Thomas Jolly, the ceremony’s director, <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/paris-olympics-organizers-apologize-last-supper-tableau-religious-conservatives/">said</a> the scene was actually a reference to Greek mythology and he wanted “to create a big pagan party in link with the God of Mount Olympus.” Others <a href="https://www.artsy.net/article/artsy-editorial-paris-olympics-opening-ceremony-inspired-dutch-painting-the-supper">claimed</a> the performance was based on Jan van Bijlert’s painting, “The Feast of the Gods,” but both attempts at quieting the outrage are pathetic explanations for a scene that Christians worldwide clearly saw as targeting their faith. 
In this day and age, where you spend money can speak to what your values are. Trust is everything when it comes to supporting brands that may use those hard-earned dollars of yours to elevate a cause that runs directly against what you care about.

In the latest “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/balancing-faith-reason-matt-fradd-member-exclusive" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sunday Special</a>” episode, Daily Wire host Ben Shapiro discussed the importance of religious communities and traditional values in combating societal decline with Catholic author Matt Fradd.
During the wide-ranging interview, both Shapiro and Fradd agreed that religious communities play a crucial role in preserving traditional morality and family structures in the face of secularization. 
&#8220;When we talk about the West and Western civilization, a muscular pursuit of religious values — and in the West you’re talking about Christian values — is absolutely necessary to the upholding of the West,” Shapiro stated. “All the fundamental premises of the West are built on these Christian values.”

Shapiro added that &#8220;the loss of community is the single greatest factor in the decline of religion,&#8221; highlighting how religious institutions historically provided economic support and fostered bonds across class divides. He emphasized that such community ties &#8220;cannot be duplicated&#8221; by government programs.
Fradd agreed, arguing that family life is so important that he encouraged couples to &#8220;get married before you’re ready, have more kids than you can afford, and then move into a bubble of other like-minded people and raise them in the faith.&#8221; 
“Of course, I could qualify all those things,” Fradd said. “Obviously, you should discern.”
He also clarified that by living in “a bubble,” he did not mean complete isolation, but rather living among those with shared values. 
&#8220;My 15-year-old daughter doesn&#8217;t have a cell phone, and it&#8217;s never really occurred to her to ask for one because we hang out with other homeschooling families who also, of course, wouldn&#8217;t give their child a smartphone,&#8221; Fradd said.
Shapiro concurred, stating: &#8220;I am very much the same way.&#8221; 
The conversation also touched on the topic of pornography, an issue Fradd has written a book on. He emphasized the need to educate children early about pornography, and said he points to specific words of Christ to battle the sinful practice. 
“I think the man who continually kind of gives over his life to pornography is becoming emasculated. He&#8217;s being robbed of the ability to be masculine,” Fradd said.
“I would look at Christ&#8217;s words, ‘So this is my body given up for you,’ and that this act was the most masculine act,” he added. “And it&#8217;s something that I should try to replicate with my own wife in that I deny myself for her good. But pornography trains a man, not to say this is my body given up for you, but the opposite: This is your body taken by me. I deny and forsake and trample over your dignity for the sake of my pleasure.”

Flaming spokes-queer for the Olympics Thomas Jolly has issued an apology for an opening ceremony display in which drag queens ridiculed Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous depiction of Jesus Christ’s Last Supper. Jolly, who is gay, which also means jolly, who is totally gay, said in his apology, “I want to sincerely apologize to any far-right turds who are still stupid enough to believe in God and therefore may have felt all grumpy and offended when we spit on everything they hold dear. By way of making amends, let me explain to you ignorant buffoons that the drag queen imitation of the Last Supper was not a drag queen imitation of the Last Supper but instead was a tribute to the Greek god of wine Dionysus and was simply meant as a celebration of the fact of our being alive because we had drag queens imitate the Last Supper, instead of mocking Muslims who would have stopped us from being alive by throwing us off a roof.” 
Flaming spokes-queer gay Jolly later amended his apology to say, “Okay, it had nothing to do with Dionysus and we were mocking the Last Supper but it was still a celebration of being alive because we were too chicken to mock Muslims.” 
Now on a personal note, it may be true that some touchy, small-minded Christians were put out by having one of the most solemn moments in a faith centered on truth and morality ridiculed by a bunch of men in falsies and lipstick interrupting a life of self-degradation and the corruption of children in order to pervert a magnificent Christian work of art by turning it from a thing of beauty into a barely watchable display of homosexual narcissism, however I take a broader view. 
When it comes to the Olympics, I know that dedicated young people have worked their hearts out with uncanny discipline and commitment in order to perform stunning feats of athletics that absolutely no one cares about. For two weeks, all over the world, people gaze in amazement at their television sets and think, “Is there really nothing more interesting on? Like reruns of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” or “Australia’s Naughtiest Videos.” And of course, I’m generalizing here, so please don’t write in and say you’re offended. Obviously, beach volleyball can be tolerable if the girls are really built. And “Australia’s Naughtiest Videos” actually had some good episodes too.

But for those of us who have standards or good taste or are sentient, the Olympics is like watching paint dry after it’s done a bunch of somersaults on the parallel bars and a group of corrupt foreigners hold up signs giving it a completely arbitrary score before awarding their country a gold medal for best drying paint. 
And normally I and other people with sex lives don’t think about the Olympics at all except to wish that it was over because that would mean it’s almost football season. But all that changed this year, because of flaming spokes-queer gay Jolly’s mockery of a religion he won’t be able to comprehend until he stands before the throne of God wondering if the old Dionysus excuse will get him out of the eternal punishment he so richly deserves. But now, I can not watch the Olympics with a real sense of accomplishment. Instead of simply taking a walk or maybe reading a book to learn more about the brilliant artistry and symbolism of Da Vinci’s masterpiece so I can understand just how beautiful a work flaming gay Jolly was mocking when he managed to mix shallowness with cowardice by simultaneously snickering at the God who loves him while kowtowing to the God who would happily toss him off a roof&#8230;
Where was I going with this sentence?
Oh yeah, instead of just ignoring the whole thing by not watching it, I can not watch it with a new purpose and gusto, feeling that my natural unwillingness to be bored to death by people doing somersaults for some reason has been given fresh meaning by my deep desire to tell flaming gay Jolly that it would have been much better if he had actually participated in this year’s Olympic events by taking a flying jump.
