Actress <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jennifer-lawrence" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jennifer Lawrence</a> said she feels strongly about other <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities" target="_blank" rel="noopener">professionals</a> who employ “method acting” to prepare for a role.
“I would be nervous to work with someone who’s method [acting],” the 32-year-old star said during an interview with “Hot Ones,” <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/jennifer-lawrence-nervous-work-method-actors-1235522162/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">per</a> The Hollywood Reporter. “Because I would have no idea how to talk to them, ’cause like, do I have to be in character? That would just make me nervous.”
The star of the new comedy “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">No Hard Feelings</a>” described her personal approach to getting into character, which she says comes from another famous Hollywood star.
“I had always been very on/off, on/off until I did ‘American Hustle’ and worked with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/christian-bale" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Christian Bale</a>, who I noticed when the camera started rolling and the crew started preparing and it would be about 10 seconds to action, he [Bale] would start getting ready,” Lawrence said. “I saw that and was like, ‘That seems like a really good idea.’ So then I started to do that.”
Interestingly, Bale is well-known in Hollywood for being considered a method actor, despite denying that he is one. &#8220;You know, people call me that. And I don&#8217;t even really know what it is,&#8221; Bale told <a href="https://www.unilad.com/features/christian-bale-pale-blue-eye-method-actor-944186-20230105" target="_blank" rel="noopener">UNILAD</a>. &#8220;I just kind of wing it.&#8221;
&#8220;Method actors study method acting. I&#8217;ve never studied any acting at all,” the “Dark Knight” star continued. “I just don&#8217;t want to offend true method actors. I just do whatever I do. I don&#8217;t know what it is.&#8221;

Some examples of Bale’s commitment include gaining more than 40 pounds for his role in “American Hustle” and losing 63 pounds to play a chronic insomnia sufferer in the 2004 thriller “The Machinist.”
Method acting has been the subject of debate in the Hollywood community for a while. David Harbour of “Stranger Things” fame said he once contemplated <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/stranger-things-actor-considered-killing-a-cat-for-method-acting-realism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">killing a cat</a> so he could know what murder felt like ahead of his role in a stage production of “Macbeth.” Marvel star Andrew Garfield <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/marvel-star-says-he-starved-himself-of-sex-and-food-to-get-ready-for-movie-role" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> he starved himself of “sex and food” to prepare for the role of a 17th-century Jesuit priest in “Silence” in 2016.

Senator-elect John Fetterman (D-PA) made it into Hollywood A-lister <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/i-cant-do-it-anymore-christian-bale-explains-why-he-had-to-distance-himself-from-chris-rock-on-their-film-set/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Christian Bale&#8217;s</a> newest film — all because the actor met him and determined that he had a face that would fit into the movie&#8217;s 1830s setting.
The film, which is scheduled for release on Netflix in early January, is titled &#8220;<a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14138650/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Pale Blue Eye</a>&#8221; and directed by Scott Cooper. It features Bale as a detective who attempts to solve the murder of a West Point Cadet. When the other cadets close ranks, the detective brings one cadet into his confidence to help with the case — a young Edgar Allen Poe — and Fetterman, alongside his wife Gisele, apparently has a cameo.

His follow up tweet noted that director Scott Cooper also appeared in the photo. &#8220;This is the second time I&#8217;ve had the pleasure to work with these incredible guys — First in &#8216;Out of the Furnace&#8217; and now in &#8216;The Pale Blue Eye,'&#8221; he added.
In footage posted by CineMovie, Cooper and Bale discussed what got them to work with Fetterman in the first place — the fact that &#8220;Out of the Furnace&#8221; was actually filmed in Braddock, Pennsylvania, while the senator-elect was still mayor there — and then Bale explained how that led to Fetterman appearing in &#8216;The Pale Blue Eye.&#8217;
&#8220;John&#8217;s got this fantastic face. And so I said to Scott, &#8216;We&#8217;ve got to have him in the tavern. You got to have that face. That’s a face that fits in the 1830s, because a lot of faces don’t fit in the 1830s,'&#8221; Bale explained, prompting laughter.
&#8220;We looked at some really wonderful actors and their faces, you just went — their face just doesn&#8217;t fit — Scott cast beautifully, I mean, I was so grateful for the people that he cast,&#8221; he continued.
Someone off camera noted that Fetterman looked like &#8220;a survivor&#8221; — and Bale&#8217;s reaction was visible: &#8220;Oh, yeah, that guy survived.&#8221;
Cooper went on to joke about the fact that when Fetterman first arrived on set to film — despite temperatures that were barely into double digits — he was always wearing shorts.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/christian-bale">Christian Bale</a> claims that many of his successful acting roles in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hollywood">Hollywood</a> are the result of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/leonardo-dicaprio">Leonardo DiCaprio</a> passing on them.
The 48-year-old British actor made the comments during a recent interview with <a href="https://www.gq.com/story/christian-bale-november-cover-interview">GQ</a>. During the conversation, he quipped that, in a sense, he owes DiCaprio his career.
&#8220;Look, to this day, any <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies">role</a> that anybody gets, it&#8217;s only because he&#8217;s passed on it beforehand,&#8221; Bale told the publication. &#8220;It doesn&#8217;t matter what anyone tells you. It doesn&#8217;t matter how friendly you are with the directors. All those people that I&#8217;ve worked with multiple times, they all offered every one of those roles to him first.&#8221;
&#8220;So, thank you, Leo, because literally, he gets to choose everything he does,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;And good for him, he&#8217;s phenomenal.&#8221;
Though some actors could become bitter over always being second choice, the “Thor: Love and Thunder” star insists he’s not offended by DiCaprio getting preferential treatment.
&#8220;No,” he said when asked if he was mad about it. “Do you know how grateful I am to get any damn thing? I mean, I can&#8217;t do what he does. &#8230; And he does it magnificently. But I would suspect that almost everybody of similar age to him in Hollywood owes their careers to him passing on whatever project it is.&#8221;
The Academy Award winner recalled one of the most significant instances of taking one of DiCaprio’s rejects. It was for the part of Patrick Bateman in the 2000 thriller “American Psycho,&#8221; which wound up being the role that made Bale a household name.
&#8220;They had paid me the absolute minimum they were legally allowed to pay me,&#8221; he told GQ of the role early in his career. &#8220;I remember one time sitting in the makeup trailer and the makeup artists were laughing at me because I was getting paid less than any of them.&#8221;
Bale went on to say &#8220;nobody&#8221; supported casting him in the movie besides director Mary Harron.
&#8220;They said they would only make it if they could pay me that amount,&#8221; the actor said. &#8220;I was prepping for it when other people were playing the part. I was still prepping for it. And, you know, it moved on. I lost my mind. But I won it back.&#8221;
Bale is well-known for his method acting in Hollywood, a technique which has won him praise but also elicited criticism from colleagues who think he goes too far.

Superstar Christian Bale said he had to end up isolating himself from Chris Rock on the set of their latest movie because it was too hard to stay in character for his part with the comedian cracking him up.
The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/christian-bale-changes-his-views-based-audience-hank-berrien">48-year-old</a> actor — known for his method acting — said Rock is &#8220;so bloody funny&#8221; that he simply couldn&#8217;t stay in character for the movie because of Rock&#8217;s great storytelling, <a href="https://www.indiewire.com/2022/09/christian-bale-stopped-talking-to-chris-rock-amsterdam-set-1234766596/">IndieWire</a> reported in a piece published Monday.
&#8220;I remember his first day, I was excited to meet him, I&#8217;m a big fan of his standup,&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/christian-bale-might-return-as-batman-on-one-condition">Bale</a> shared. &#8220;Then he arrives, and he&#8217;s doing some things … David [O. Russell] told him to tell me some stories that I didn&#8217;t know he was gonna tell me, which is the way David works often. And I was loving it.&#8221;
&#8220;But Chris is so bloody funny and I found that I couldn&#8217;t act, because I was just becoming Christian laughing at Chris Rock,&#8221; he added. &#8220;So I had to go to him, I went, &#8216;Mate, I love talking to you, and we have mutual friends, but I can&#8217;t do it anymore.'&#8221;

The &#8220;Batman Begins&#8221; star said he doesn&#8217;t blame the 57-year-old comedian/actor and shared that sometimes he has to isolate from people in order to do his job right.
&#8220;I often meet these incredible people, but I isolate myself,&#8221; Bale shared. &#8220;Because if I get to know people too much, I find I just don&#8217;t believe what I&#8217;m doing in the scene.&#8221;

&#8220;I had a pact with Chris Nolan,&#8221; he added of the filmmaker&#8217;s trilogy he was part of. &#8220;We said, &#8216;Hey, look. Let&#8217;s make three films, if we&#8217;re lucky enough to get to do that. And then let&#8217;s walk away. Let&#8217;s not linger too long.&#8217; In my mind, it would be something if Chris Nolan ever said to himself, &#8216;You know what, I&#8217;ve got another story to tell.&#8217; And if he wished to tell that story with me, I&#8217;d be in.&#8221;

Oscar season is back, even if an increasing number of Americans no longer care about the annual ceremony.
The awards gala deserves all the disdain coming its way, but the movie awards season shouldn’t be dismissed so easily. Some of our brightest filmmakers save their best wares for this time of year, and despite the industry’s woke makeover, the season still delivers some stirring work.
And, in between, a few popcorn blockbusters elbow themselves into the conversation.
Will this fall top last year’s mediocre lineup? Just how much will Identity Politics and other progressive lectures infiltrate the so-called best and brightest fare? The following films hold the key.
“Honk for Jesus, Save Your Soul” (September 2, in theaters and Peacock)
Hollywood loves mocking Christianity in any way, shape, or form. It can come via genre fare (“The Purge” franchise) or Oscar-bait films like last year’s “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”).
This year’s entry stars Sterling K. Brown and Regina Hall as fallen televangelists trying to rebuild their spiritual kingdom. Does the film grant its broken characters some humanity? Will the screenplay discern solid Christian souls from those eager to swindle their brethren? We’ll see, but a strong theatrical debut could help its Oscar chances.
“God’s Country” (September 16)
This could be the season’s version of “The Hunt,” deliberately poking the “two Americas” bear, or just another progressive screed against Red State USA. Thandie Newton stars as a black professor who runs afoul of two white hunters.
Newton’s film proves subversive in the best sense of the word, acknowledging stereotypes before upending them. Unfortunately, the early reviews from its Sundance Film Festival run suggest a picture that plays down to our expectations. The film “punches up,” critics say, delivering a “bleep you” to the patriarchy.
“See How They Run” (September 16)
The “They Don’t Make ‘em Like This Anymore” crowd could be in for a treat. Oscar winner Sam Rockwell and future winner Saoirse Ronan (would anyone deny that prediction?) star as detectives in ‘50s era London solving a theatrical murder mystery. The comic romp features a great supporting troupe including David Oyelowo, Adrien Brody, and “The Affair’s” Ruth Wilson.
“Don’t Worry Darling” (September 23)
Olivia Wilde proved her directorial bona fides with 2019’s “Booksmart,” which was both absurdly woke and undeniably fun. This time ‘round, she’s playing in one of Hollywood’s favorite sandboxes, the 1950s, eager to show the decade’s glossy exterior didn’t match reality.
Again.
Harry Styles and Florence Pugh headline this psychological drama, which given the era must leave most of Wilde’s woke tics behind. Right?
“Blonde” (September 28, Netflix)
Let’s hope the hype doesn’t overshadow the movie. We’ve already read far too much about “Blonde,” from the casting of Cuban starlet Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe to the buzz about that NC-17 rating. The bigger question is obvious. What’s left to be said about the doomed superstar, one whose iconic beauty has powered countless tributes?
We’ve seen Marilyn Monroe depicted many times already, most recently in the sturdy 2011 drama “My Week with Marilyn,” that there’s seemingly little fresh ground to till. The same could have been said of “Elvis,” but Baz Luhrmann’s summer hit showed a fresh appetite for the rock icon.
“Bros” (September 30)
Comedy is on life support at the theatrical level, at least the bawdy, R-rated romps we once knew and loved. Director Nicholas Stoller of “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” fame tries to revive that genre with “Bros,” a gay rom-com starring far-left comic actor Billy Eichner.
Eichner falls for a muscular singleton (Luke MacFarlane) amidst a sea of LGTBQ+ trappings, according to the disappointing trailer. Dethroned comedy king Judd Apatow is on hand as a producer, but the cultural guardrails around humor in the modern era could keep “Bros” from reaching beyond its target audience.
“Amsterdam” (October 7)
Some of our most talented directors take their sweet time between projects. Think Quentin Tarantino, the late Stanley Kubrick and “Amsterdam” auteur David O. Russell of “American Hustle“ fame. He’s assembled a truly all-star cast (Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, Chris Rock Mike Myers, Robert De Niro, John David Washington and Michael Shannon) for an ensemble drama centered on soldiers caught up in a murder plot.
“Halloween Ends” (October 14 in theaters and Peacock)
Danny McBride and David Gordon Green delivered a mostly satisfying “Halloween” do-over in 2018, and then followed it up with “Halloween Kills,” the kind of brain-dead sequel that’s all too familiar to horror fans.
Here, the Michael Myers saga is supposed to wrap (as if the industry wouldn’t think of bringing The Shape back in some form). Jamie Lee Curtis makes what should be her swan song in the film, overseen by original “Halloween” director John Carpenter.
“Halloween Kills” showed way too much of Michael Myers. Can “Ends” bring back the sense of awe and mystery, or is that impossible in our short attention span times?
“Till” (October 14)
The suffering and death of Emmett Till are the stuff of American nightmares. The 14-year-old’s death at the hands of unabashed racists is made for a theatrical re-enactment, but the subject matter simultaneously demands the utmost restraint.
As is, the horror story needs no embellishment. Will the filmmakers turn Till’s tragedy into a referendum on race circa 2022? The focus here, and rightly so, is on the boy’s mother. She engaged the ‘50s era system seeking justice, and her journey could yield Oscar-worthy results. Danielle Deadwyler gets the plum assignment of bringing Mamie Till-Mobley to life.
“Black Adam” (October 21)  

Dwayne Johnson has played so many super heroic figures it’s a shock he’s never gone the full Superman until now. “Black Adam” arrives with plenty of fanfare along with the sense that the culture is getting a little bored of grown-ups in tights. Can Johnson bring some vitality to the genre, or will “Black Adam” ding the DC comic’s uneven universe? Just know that Johnson’s caped figure isn’t one of the good guys. The “Black” in Black Adam refers to his soul, Johnson <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2022/08/who-is-black-adam">clarified</a> to Vanity Fair.
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” (November 11)
How do you make a “Black Panther” sequel without the titular hero? Director Ryan Coogler stared that question down after the film’s celebrated star Chadwick Boseman died in 2020.
The story behind the sequel, co-written by Coogler, is mostly under wraps. Boseman’s fellow cast mates return, including Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett and Lupita Nyong’o. We’ll also meet Sub Mariner (Tenoch Huerta) and Ironheart (Dominique Thorne), the black female heroine tied to Tony Stark’s iron legacy (and headed for her own Disney+ series).
“She Said” (November 18)
Journalism films have taken on a new, depressing flavor in the modern era. Do we really want to celebrate such a corrupt profession that often slavishly follows the Democratic playbook?
“She Said” can’t fix that problem, but the story follows two journalists who did their jobs so well they helped bring down one of Hollywood’s true supervillains.
Based on the memoir “She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement,” the film tracks New York Times journalists Megan Twohey (Carey Mulligan) and Jodi Kantor (Zoe Kazan) as they get the goods on producer Harvey Weinstein.
It’s only a movie, but let’s hope “She Said” at least touches on Hollywood’s culpability in Weinstein’s crimes (they knew) and how Hollywood reporters suspected his misconduct but didn’t pursue it.
“The Fabelmans” (November 23)
Steven Spielberg remains the most vital filmmaker of our era with a body of work that speaks for itself. His latest film finds him recalling his formative years, a time that convinced an Arizona lad to pick up a film camera and never let go.
The semi-autobiographical film co-stars Seth Rogen, Michelle Williams, and Judd Hirsch. Young Gabriel LaBelle gets the nod to play young Spielberg, here named Sammy Fabelman.
“Avatar: The Way of Water” (December 16)
It’s finally here. Director James Cameron follows up his 2009 smash with the first of four planned sequels. The first film doubled as an eco-lecture, and there’s little evidence Cameron’s eco-hypocrisy will stop him from wagging his finger at us anew.
Few filmmakers can get away with that brand of storytelling like Cameron, though. With classic films like “The Terminator,” “Aliens,” and “Titanic” under his Oscar-approved belt, can anyone dismiss an “Avatar” sequel out of hand?
Then again, the self-described “King of the World” is due for a mighty fall.

Christian Bale, who gave iconic performances as Batman in filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s masterful trilogy about the Caped Crusader, suggested that he might be willing to don the cape one last time— on one condition.
Nolan’s trilogy was comprised of “Batman Begins” (2005), &#8220;The Dark Knight&#8221; (2008) and “The Dark Knight Rises” (2012). The films <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20190707025757/https:/www.boxofficemojo.com/franchises/chart/?id=darkknighttrilogy.htm">amassed</a> roughly $2.5 billion at the box office worldwide.
Asked about a potential return to the role, Bale told <a href="https://screenrant.com/christian-bale-batman-return-christopher-nolan-condition-response/">Screen Rant</a>, &#8220;No one’s ever mentioned it to me. No one’s brought it up. &#8230; Occasionally people say to me, ‘Oh, I hear you were approached and offered all this.’ And I’m like, ‘That’s news to me. No one’s ever said that.'&#8221;
“I had a pact with Chris Nolan,” Bale continued. “We said, ‘Hey, look. Let&#8217;s make three films, if we&#8217;re lucky enough to get to do that. And then let&#8217;s walk away. Let&#8217;s not linger too long.’ In my mind, it would be something if Chris Nolan ever said to himself, ‘You know what, I&#8217;ve got another story to tell.’ And if he wished to tell that story with me, I&#8217;d be in.”
Bale is set to star as Gorr the God Butcher in “Thor: Love and Thunder,” which follows “Thor: Ragnarok.” Nolan is directing “Oppenheimer,” about J. Robert Oppenheimer and in the development of the atomic bomb, starring Cillian Murphy and set to premiere in 2023.
In 2003, prior to the release of Nolan’s first Batman film, he <a href="https://www.superherohype.com/features/83215-official-christian-bale-is-batman">said</a> of Bale, “What I see in Christian is the ultimate embodiment of Bruce Wayne. He has exactly the balance of darkness and light that we were looking for.”
Jeff Robinov, then president of production for Warner Bros. Pictures, added,  “Now that we’ve found the best person to play Batman, we are really looking forward to moving ahead with the rest of our casting, and are excited about the exceptional group we are assembling.”

Robert Pattinson is the latest actor to become the Caped Crusader in the new movie, “The Batman.” 
Over the decades many Hollywood stars took on the role with mixed results depending on their approach. Pattinson said during a recent <a href="https://youtu.be/TO6a_5e5M3U">interview</a> that he had initially thought about making a change to Batman’s signature gravelly voice before thinking better of it.
“Everyone does this kind of gruff, gravelly thing, and I’m like, ‘I’m going to do the opposite — I’m gonna go really whispery,&#8217;” Pattinson told Jimmy Kimmel during a Wednesday night appearance on the late night show. “And I tried to do it for the first two weeks, and it just looked absolutely atrocious, and they told me to stop doing it.”
Pattinson went on to explain how he wasn’t the first Batman actor to experiment with voice alterations.
“I found out from Nick, who was putting me in the suit every day, that’s what Christian Bale did on ‘Batman Begins’ as well,” Pattinson told Kimmel. “And if you listen to the first ‘Batman Begins’ teaser trailer, you can hear the original voice. I only found this out a couple of weeks ago.”
In the end, the “Twilight” alum said turning into Batman isn’t so much a conscious decision as it is a feeling. He said, “You can feel when it feels right. You put the suit on, and you have to speak in a certain way.”
The “Batman” actor also discussed another idea he had for the role which was ultimately nixed.
“One of the first things that Matt said to me — he’s like, ‘He’s sort of inspired by Kurt Cobain,&#8217;” the actor said. “I’m like, ‘Really? That’s kind of the opposite of what I imagined Bruce Wayne to be.&#8217;”
But then Pattinson got shot down when he pitched copying Cobain’s signature grunge style for Batman’s wardrobe, which is nowhere close to how Bruce Wayne usually dresses. That idea was shot down along with the voice change.
“So you had a lot of bad ideas to start with,” Kimmel quipped.
Pattinson said with a laugh, “Tons.”
“The Batman” stars Pattinson opposite Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman. Excitement is heating up for the latest iteration, which will be released in March. 
In 2020, director Matt Reeves <a href="https://people.com/movies/robert-pattinson-first-the-batman-trailer/">explained</a> during a DC Comics virtual FanDome event that the film follows the &#8220;early days&#8221; of Batman when Bruce Wayne is &#8220;very far from being perfect.&#8221; 
No doubt the studio is hoping to capitalize on fans who have proven that they’re ready to return to movie theaters, especially when superhero movies are on the menu. The latest blockbuster, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” broke box office records for revenue raking in more than $880 million.
Pattinson also revealed to Kimmel that he’s scared about the release. 
“I was absolutely terrified,” the actor said. “I haven’t been this scared to release a movie in a long time.”
“If you’re a bad Batman, there’s no bigger disaster than that, is there?” Kimmel replied.
“That’s what everyone keeps telling me,” Pattinson said. “They’re like, if all fails, you’ll still be part of something really special. I’m like, I don’t want to be the worst one, that’s what I get remembered for.”

Actor Christian Bale claimed this week that former Vice President Dick Cheney sent him an insulting message for how he portrayed Cheney in the Oscar-nominated movie &#8220;Vice&#8221; — an allegation that a source has now denied.
Speaking with Yahoo! Entertainment, Bale claimed that a woman associated with his son&#8217;s school met with Cheney at a party and asked that a blunt message be delivered to the actor.
&#8220;Strangely enough it was through my son&#8217;s school,&#8221; <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/christian-bale-dick-cheney-vice-reaction-message-220039507.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bale said</a>. &#8220;One of the moms was at a party that [Cheney] was at, and she said, &#8216;Oh, I&#8217;m going to be seeing Christian tomorrow, you have anything to say to him?&#8217; And he said, &#8216;Tell him he&#8217;s a d***.'&#8221;
Bale originally thought Cheney was doing a pun on his own name, but that was not the case, according to the woman that delivered the message.
&#8220;I went, &#8216;Oh, at least he’s got a sense of humor,'&#8221; Bale said. &#8220;And she said, &#8216;No, there was no humor to it whatsoever.'&#8221;
A source close to Dick Cheney told <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/christian-bale-dick-cheney-insulting-message-vice-portrayal">Fox News</a> that no such an encounter ever took place.
&#8220;Dick Cheney never has and never would send a message to Bale. Totally untrue,&#8221; the source said.
If Cheney did indeed deliver such a message to Christian Bale, the former vice president would not exactly be out of line, considering that the actor literally <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/golden-globes-christian-bale-wins-best-actor-thanks-satan-dick-cheney-inspiration-1173404">compared him to Satan</a> when accepting the award for Best Actor at the Golden Globes.

Adam McKay&#8217;s Vice ­&#8212; the Oscar nominated bio-pic about Vice President Dick Cheney &#8212; is a remarkably revealing film. In the same way you can watch Hallmark movies to better understand some women&#8217;s daydreams, you can watch Vice to get a gander at the absurd, small-minded and hate-filled imaginings of leftists.
To say the movie&#8217;s political views are simplistic is to insult simplism. Cheney is a conniving moral monster who bombs nations for profit. His president, George W. Bush, is an idiot, whom Cheney leads by the nose. Democrats are good. They put solar panels on the White House roof to save the planet! Republicans are bad. They do mean things for mean reasons because they are mean.
It&#8217;s a child&#8217;s view of the world, full of tendentious factual distortions and lies. But then director McKay is a Socialist, so he is a child in effect, or at least he knows what a child knows about economics, human nature and history &#8212; namely nothing.
What is so revealing about the film though is that it&#8217;s about Bush. Not Donald Trump. Bush. It&#8217;s a reminder that the hatred and rage, the wild charges of racism, and the madcap conspiracy theories with which the left has disgraced itself during the Trump administration are not anomalous, not directed at the outsized Trump specifically. This is just how the left thinks about the rest of us in every administration all the time. Republicans are either stupid like Eisenhower, Reagan and W, or they are evil like Nixon and Cheney, or they are both stupid and evil like Donald Trump.
And it&#8217;s not just the politicians either. This is how the left sees you too. Stupid, evil or both.
The fact that this silly film has been nominated for a best picture Oscar is a message from Harvey-Weinstein-World to half of America. The message is two words long. The second word is you.
If Vice is how leftists imagine life, it&#8217;s no wonder they have to spend so much time and energy preventing their childishly black-and-white viewpoint from being debunked by the complicated truth.
They have to take pains to insure that every movie, every television show, every comedy act, every news program, every college course reflects their ideas and only their ideas. They have to invent and propound primitive racist theories like Intersectionalism that give them license to categorize all disagreements as hateful. And if even that&#8217;s not enough, they have to hire friends to commit hate crimes against them so the world seems to look the way they think it looks.
They so surround themselves with people who agree with them, so immerse themselves in their imaginary narratives, they don&#8217;t even know they&#8217;re demonizing their opponents, they just think (as one leftist says in Vice) they&#8217;re relating the simple facts.
When actor Jussie Smollett reported the hate crime that police now say was an elaborate hoax, CNN&#8217;s Brooke Baldwin mourned, &#8220;This is America in 2019.&#8221; When media race scammer Nathan Philips started a scene with some innocent Trump-supporting Catholic school kids, CNN&#8217;s Ana Navarro falsely described the incident as, &#8220;Native-American elder taunted by racist MAGA-hat wearing teens&#8230;&#8221;
These people don&#8217;t even know that their brains are suffocating in the plastic bag of their own narrative. Who would tell them? They have demonized, blacklisted and condemned everyone who disagrees with them. They have chased them out of Hollywood. They have banned them from speaking at colleges. They have de-platformed them on social media.
While Vice is Oscar-nominated, the TV mini-series Path to 9/11 will not be released on DVD because it accurately depicts Bill Clinton&#8217;s failure to kill Osama bin Laden when he had the chance.
While it becomes more and more clear that the Justice Department&#8217;s coup attempt against Donald Trump is one of the great scandals in American history, &#8220;journalists&#8221; are spending their time speculating on whether Donald Trump is a Russian spy.
Desperate to protect their simplistic imaginations from the healthy debate and interchange of the real and complex world, leftists have transformed themselves into willful idiots. They don&#8217;t know what they don&#8217;t know. And they don&#8217;t know that they don&#8217;t know.

At least that&#8217;s what they say about themselves. But since Satan is a notorious liar, the mission statement of a church named after him should not be taken at face-value. After all, the Satanic Temple also bills itself as an atheist organization, but as Harvard student Aurora Griffins says she witnessed, they are anything but. From <a href="https://www.crisismagazine.com/2016/a-subtler-satanism">Crisis Magazine</a>:

Obviously, Christian Bale&#8217;s ode to the prince of darkness for inspiring him to play Dick Cheney was said for laughs. But as the Church of Satan demonstrated, whether in jest or in sincerity, their dark deity will accept the praise all the same.

The Golden Globes happened last night. Normally, this would not be a notable or interesting fact. There is nothing more excruciating or pointless than a four-hour ceremony consisting of celebrities congratulating themselves. But this year&#8217;s event did feature one noteworthy moment. It was a moment of honesty. Unintentional honesty, but still honesty.
Christian Bale won the Best Actor award for his cartoonish portrayal of former Vice President Dick Cheney. I haven&#8217;t seen the movie, but by most accounts it is unabashed agitprop. The filmmaker does not attempt to disguise his feelings, showing more contempt for the subject of his film than the guy who made &#8220;Downfall&#8221; (about Hitler&#8217;s last days) showed for his. Bale certainly didn&#8217;t worry about dispelling the impression that &#8220;Vice&#8221; was a leftist hit piece, calling Cheney a &#8220;charisma-free a**hole&#8221; during his remarks, and suggesting that maybe he should play Mitch McConnell next.
It goes without saying that you would never see a reverse spectacle on a Hollywood stage. If Jason Clarke, who played Ted Kennedy in &#8220;Chappaquidick,&#8221; had won an award and then called Kennedy a &#8220;negligent drunk&#8221; or something similar during his acceptance speech, he would have been roundly condemned by the very people who are applauding Bale&#8217;s rant today.
But the hypocrisy is so transparent that there&#8217;s no reason to point it out. Let&#8217;s leave it to the side and focus on the rare and possibly historic moment of honesty: Bale thanking &#8220;Satan&#8221; for inspiring his performance in the role. Now, obviously he meant this to be tongue-in-cheek, but I think it accidentally revealed a deep truth. To my knowledge, Satan has never before been thanked by name at a major Hollywood awards show. Usually God is given the credit for all of the stupidity and filth that movie studios have produced in the given year. It&#8217;s refreshing to see the credit go where it is rightfully due for a change.
There is something rather profound about a famous actor expressing gratitude to the Devil. Many of these people have traded their souls in exchange for fame and fortune. The artistic fruits they bear give testament to their spiritual emptiness. Bale may have winked at Hell as a joke, but a lot of truth is said in jest. And this may have been the truest thing ever uttered at a ceremony of this type.

First, Bale thanked the movie&#8217;s director, Adam McKay, saying, &#8220;Thank you to that geezer, Adam. He said I&#8217;ve got to find somebody who can be absolutely charisma-free and reviled by everybody, so he went, &#8216;Oh, it&#8217;s gotta be Bale in it.&#8217; Thank you.&#8221;
