Actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/chris-hemsworth">Chris Hemsworth</a> gave credit to his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/marriage">wife</a> of nearly 14 years, Elsa Pataky, for his success in Hollywood.
The 40-year-old Marvel star made the remarks in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hollywood">Los Angeles</a> on Thursday during a speech he gave after receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Pataky attended the event along with the couple’s three children, India Rose, 12, and twins Sasha and Tristan, 10, per <a href="https://people.com/chris-hemsworth-wife-put-aside-her-own-dreams-hollywood-walk-of-fame-speech-8652823">People</a>.
&#8220;I want to say thank you to my beautiful wife, who has been here for my entire career basically by my side, endlessly encouraging and supportive,&#8221; Hemsworth said. &#8220;And it doesn&#8217;t get lost on me that she put aside her own dreams in order to support mine and, again, [I am] forever in your debt.&#8221;
&#8220;The fact [is] that nothing that I do, any of these moments, these special occasions and events, none of it is special without you by my side. I love you,&#8221; the “Thor” star continued.
The pair met after being introduced to each other by their agents in 2010. They were engaged and married shortly after, and mostly keep their relationship private. 
Some of Hemsworth’s co-stars were also in the audience to celebrate the Australian-born star receiving the honor, including Robert Downey Jr., who turned his speech into a mini-roast.
&#8220;First off, [Jeremy] Renner says &#8216;absurdly annoyingly amazing.&#8217; [Mark] Ruffalo came in strong with &#8216;Friend from work,'&#8221; Downey Jr. said. &#8220;That&#8217;s a callback, now I get it. Next up, fans can see Hemsworth in the highly anticipated post-apocalyptic action adventure film, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” which debuted on Friday, May 24. Director George Miller also shared his thoughts on Hemsworth.

Australian actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/chris-hemsworth">Chris Hemsworth</a> said he’s not happy with the criticism that superhero movies have received, especially from well-respected directors such as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/martin-scorsese">Martin Scorsese</a> and Francis Ford Coppola.
“It felt harsh, and it bothers me, especially from heroes. It was an eye-roll for me, people bashing the superhero space,” the 40-year-old “Thor” actor said during a recently published <a href="https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/chris-hemsworth-alzheimers-interview-mad-max-gw7kb8tvs">interview</a> with U.K.-based outlet The Times.
Hemsworth went on to point out how even industry greats have failures. “Those guys had films that didn’t work too — we all have. When they talked about what was wrong with superheroes, I thought, cool, tell that to the billions who watch them. Were they all wrong?” he added.
“Cinema-going did not change because of superheroes, but because of smartphones and social media. Superhero films actually kept people in the cinemas during that transition, and now people are coming back. So they deserve a little more appreciation,” Hemsworth said.
Scorsese authored an op-ed published in the New York Times in 2019 titled “Martin Scorsese: I Said <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/marvel">Marvel</a> Movies Aren’t Cinema. Let Me Explain.”
“There’s worldwide audiovisual entertainment, and there’s cinema,” the “Goodfellas” director <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/martin-scorsese-shreds-marvel-movies-says-theyre-not-cinema">wrote</a> in the piece. “They still overlap from time to time, but that’s becoming increasingly rare. And I fear that the financial dominance of one is being used to marginalize and even belittle the existence of the other.” 
He added, “For anyone who dreams of making movies or who is just starting out, the situation at this moment is brutal and inhospitable to art. And the act of simply writing those words fills me with terrible sadness.”
Coppola, director of “The Godfather,” agreed with that assessment. He sparked controversy in October 2019 when he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/francis-ford-coppola-backs-scorsese-marvel-movies-are-despicable">said</a>, “When Martin Scorsese says that the Marvel pictures are not cinema, he’s right, because we expect to learn something from cinema, we expect to gain something, some enlightenment, some knowledge, some inspiration. I don’t know that anyone gets anything out of seeing the same movie over and over again. Martin was kind when he said it’s not cinema. He didn’t say it’s despicable, which I just say it is.”
Hemsworth also told The Times he’s unhappy with actors who blame the genre for their failures.

“It’s, like, ‘They’re films that are successful — put me in one. Oh, mine didn’t work? I’ll bash them,’” he said. “Look, I grew up on a soap opera. And it used to bother me when actors would later talk about the show with guilt or shame. Humility goes a long way. One of the older actors on ‘Home and Away’ said, ‘We don’t get paid to make the good lines sound good, but to make the bad ones work.’ That stuck with me.”
He continued, “But hey, it’s all a lesson. And if I ever went back to [‘Thor’] I’d wonder how we could change it again. But there is a superhero curse in the sense you get pigeonholed, and I’ve felt a little hamstrung with what I could do, so [I] desperately wanted something to scare the s*** out of me. And ‘Furiosa’ did.”

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/chris-hemsworth">Chris Hemsworth</a> says he’s making some lifestyle changes after a genetic test revealed he has a higher-than-average risk of developing <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/alzheimers">Alzheimer’s disease</a>.
The 40-year-old “Thor” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">actor</a> said he’s been changing his diet and workout routines, but has also focused on searching for inner peace. 
“Now, I&#8217;m incorporating more solitude into my life,” Hemsworth told Men’s Health during an <a href="https://www.menshealth.com/health/a45126175/chris-hemsworth-alzheimers-interview/">interview</a> published October 3. “I’ve always been pretty consistent with my exercise commitments, but lately I’ve really felt the importance of taking time for yourself without any outside voice or stimulation and making time for stillness.”
He’s also been incorporating other practices. “I do a lot of meditation and breath work mostly during sauna and ice bath routines,” the Australian actor continued. “For me, my favorite mindfulness work comes from the immersion in physical activities that allow me to be fully present and force me out of me head and into my body, in particular surfing.”
“I have a more consistent approach to my sleep,” Hemsworth continued. “Try to stay off screens an hour before bed and read most nights definitely helps. In addition, focusing on not being attached to every thought and be the observer to the noise when possible, just stepping back from the internal chatter.”
The “Avengers: Endgame” actor has two copies of the gene APOE4, which makes him “eight to 10 times more likely” to develop Alzheimer’s in the future, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chris-hemsworth-confronts-mortality-after-discovering-genetic-predisposition-for-alzheimers-disease">reported</a>. He’s part of an estimated 2-3% of the population carrying a copy of the gene from both parents. Alzheimer’s is a progressive type of dementia that affects memory, thinking, and behavior.
Hemsworth said the diagnosis has made him think about his current life more deeply and inspired him to do more “outdoorsy and adventurous” things with his wife and three kids. 
“Doing an episode on death and facing your own mortality made me go, ‘Oh God, I’m not ready to go yet.’ I want to sit and be in this space with a greater sense of stillness and gratitude,” Hemsworth <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/from-thor-to-dad-chris-hemsworth-keeps-putting-family-first">said</a> after finding out the news.

The star, who&#8217;s career really took off with his 2009 TV show &#8220;Breaking Bad,&#8221; said his wife, Robin Dearden, has supported him all these years and it&#8217;s time for the &#8220;paradigm&#8221; to change.

&#8220;I look at it like the warning light going off on your dashboard,&#8221; he added. &#8220;It&#8217;s telling you, &#8216;You might want to pay attention to this.&#8217; I love my wife, and we want to go the distance, but I want to do it in a healthy way. After the report came out, Cranston took to <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CtR4NjnPceC/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Instagram</a> and said he wanted to clarify he wasn&#8217;t retiring but instead hitting the &#8220;pause&#8221; button to do things like &#8220;spend time with Robin&#8221; and get a sort of a &#8220;reset&#8221; in his career.
Dearden and Cranston met on the CBS show &#8220;Airwolf&#8221; in 1986. At the time, both were with involved with other people but soon started dating, and in 1989 they tied the knot. They have one daughter together.
Chris Hemsworth&#8217;s career skyrocketed after he took on the superhero role of &#8220;Thor&#8221; in 2011. Since that time, he&#8217;s played an essential role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in numerous Marvel films.
Recently, the 39-year-old actor learned that he inherited two copies of the APOE4 gene (one each from his mother and his father), which showed he was at greater risk of developing Alzheimer&#8217;s disease than others.
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/thor-actor-chris-hemsworth-may-take-fewer-roles-in-the-future-heres-why" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Reports</a> then surfaced that a source close to the Marvel star said after he completes a few current projects — he plans to step away from Hollywood to spend more time with his family while his kids are young.
In a <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2022/11/chris-hemsworth-exclusive-interview-alzheimers-limitless" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vanity Fair</a> interview published in November, Hemsworth said learning that he had a higher risk of developing Alzheimer&#8217;s really hit him as he faced his own &#8220;mortality.&#8221;
&#8220;It really triggered something in me to want to take some time off,&#8221; the actor said. &#8220;And since we finished the show, I&#8217;ve been completing the things I was already contracted to do. Now when I finish this tour this week, I&#8217;m going home and I&#8217;m going to have a good chunk of time off and just simplify. Be with the kids, be with my wife.&#8221;
In June, the &#8220;Thor: Ragnarok&#8221; star clarified the Vanity Fair <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chris-hemsworth-clarifies-comments-about-taking-a-break-from-hollywood" target="_blank" rel="noopener">comments</a> about taking a break and said that he wanted to take time off because he&#8217;s &#8220;been working for 10 years, and I&#8217;ve got three kids that I want to spend more time with.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;ve been running from project to project for a long time, just to avoid being unemployed or that fear that it&#8217;s the last job you&#8217;ll get, you know?&#8221; Hemsworth said. &#8220;I want to be more curated about the choices I make, things I immerse myself in or I&#8217;m involved in. I want to have greater value and work with great people.&#8221;

At the time, Holland was dating his co-star in the Marvel films, actress Zendaya. The pair are rumored to be dating for years but it is unclear how long. As of June 2023, the Hollywood couple is still believed to be together.

Chris Hemsworth may look like a typical movie star, but that doesn’t mean he acts like one.
The 39-year-old native Australian has been awarded the coveted title of &#8216;Sexiest Man Alive&#8217; by People Magazine in 2014. He’s best known for portraying the hammer-wielding Norse god Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2011. 
It would be easy for someone like Hemsworth to slip into the typical role of Hollywood lothario, dating the most beautiful women in the world in an endless loop of sex, drugs, and money. Instead, the millionaire actor married Spanish actress Elsa Pataky in 2010 and went on to have three children with her. Most recently, the MCU star said he’s even <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/thor-actor-chris-hemsworth-may-take-fewer-roles-in-the-future-heres-why" target="_blank" rel="noopener">taking a step back</a> from the spotlight to spend more time with his family after finding out he has a high risk for Alzheimer’s disease.

The “Limitless” star made the comments during a November interview with Vanity Fair, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chris-hemsworth-confronts-mortality-after-discovering-genetic-predisposition-for-alzheimers-disease" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
“Most of us, we like to avoid speaking about death,” Hemsworth told the publication. “Then to all of a sudden be told some big indicators are actually pointing to this as the route which is going to happen, the reality of it sinks in. Your own mortality.”

&#8220;There [are] times when I&#8217;ve thought, &#8216;Wow, because having kids is more important to me, some of my roles have suffered,'&#8221; the actor <a href="http://www.gq.com.au/entertainment/celebrity/chris-hemsworth-it-was-a-pressure-inbspwanted-to-live-up-to/image-gallery/d2d3ffe87c11346a7e3e3dab8a014f22?pos=4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> GQ Australia in 2018. &#8220;There [are] definitely a couple of films I could&#8217;ve put way more energy into but I was like, &#8216;No, I&#8217;d rather be with my kids.'&#8221;
&#8220;I often find myself saying it&#8217;s all for my family but in all this I definitely have personal things I need to achieve, too,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;The difference is you have to open yourself up and go, &#8216;Well, you had kids so you forfeited a bit of that.'&#8221;
Hemsworth also talked about raising kids while being famous, saying he and his wife are adamant about instilling the same values that they had growing up.

&#8220;When I think about my kids, I don&#8217;t want them to miss that joy,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Elsa and I talk a lot about how we instill that same appreciation and respect for things. I don&#8217;t want them to feel like they&#8217;re privileged in any way. The fact that we have money and their parents are famous, that somehow they&#8217;re special, that scares me because we grew up with no money.&#8221;
But for Hemsworth, it’s not all contemplating sickness and death. The father of three also likes to show off his fun side, which recently earned him some criticism from social media followers.
The “Avengers: Endgame” star posted a photo of one of his 9-year-old twin sons <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chris-hemsworth-dragged-for-photo-of-his-wife-smashing-cake-in-sons-face-on-his-9th-birthday" target="_blank" rel="noopener">getting cake smashed</a> in his face for his birthday.

“Happy 9th birthday to my two little men! Only one way to eat cake in this house and that’s to have mum slam your head into it face first!! ‘Hey mum I don’t like chocolate cake I prefer vanilla’ ‘oh really son, what about now’?” Hemsworth wrote in the image caption.
Several followers expressed their negative feelings about the Marvel star promoting the “violent” practice of cake smashing.
“Yeah, not cool. I would never want another birthday cake in my life. Also, its rude to everyone else who might be eating that cake (or what’s left of it). Its gross, rude, and a good way to ruin your kid’s birthdays for the rest of their lives,” one person wrote, while another declared it “violent” and “not funny.”
Others came to the actor’s defense, saying that he was clearly a fun dad who knew his son would enjoy a prank like that. They also pointed out how cake smashing could be part of his wife’s Spanish heritage.
“How have we come this far as a species only to get more and more sissified?! This is funny and fun,” one commenter wrote. “You know your kids and you know their limits. That boy probably thought this was hilarious.”
“It’s part of Hispanic/Latino culture,” another person said.
Cake smashing aside, Hemsworth has established himself as a committed husband and father over the course of his Hollywood career. Other actors should take note.
