NewsNation anchor Chris Cuomo called on Democrats to resist the temptation to impeach President Donald Trump if they win control of either the House or the Senate in the fast-approaching 2026 midterm elections.
Cuomo addressed the issue during Tuesday&#8217;s broadcast of &#8220;The Chris Cuomo Project,&#8221; saying that however likely it seemed that Democrats might come out ahead, it would be in the country&#8217;s best interest for them to show a little restraint.

&#8220;Where is he in terms of how he should be feeling about the midterms?&#8221; Cuomo asked in reference to the president — and then pantomimed something apparently intending to show nerves or panic.
&#8220;Did you hear what Ted Cruz said to him reportedly, allegedly?&#8221; Cuomo continued. &#8220;‘You’re going to lose House seats and Senate seats and they’re going to impeach you every day.’ Now, I really hope that last part doesn’t happen. Why? You don’t have the votes to remove him.”
&#8220;It is a political process — impeachment. Okay? Removal is a straight up and down vote, you do not have — not up and down, it&#8217;s not 50 plus one,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You do not have the votes you need to remove him. It will not happen. So, why put us through it? And any high-minded idea you give us, I just point you to the last two and see if that helped the country in any way.&#8221;
Cuomo is not the only one talking about impeachment as Democrats ramp up the fight for congressional control.
Rep. Al Green (D-TX) has already filed articles of impeachment, as has Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) — and The Hill ran an <a href="https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/5726969-trump-impeachment-restore-constitutional-faith/">opinion piece</a> on Monday calling not only for impeachment, but for Democrats to pack the Supreme Court as well.
Former House Speaker <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nancy-pelosi-says-democrats-shouldnt-try-to-impeach-trump-again">Nancy Pelosi</a> (D-CA) walked a finer line on the issue during a recent interview, cautioning members of her party to make sure that they only proceeded on a possible impeachment if they had good reason to do so. Pelosi did not indicate what constituted a good reason.
&#8220;That’s not an incidental thing you say — ‘We’re going to [impeach].’ No, there has to be cause,” Pelosi said at the time. “There has to be reason.”

I know, I’m not saying anything but that,&#8221; Cuomo began, noting that his father had not been considered so. &#8220;My father was not considered a white guy. He was considered an ethnic, okay? He had that other thing going.&#8221;
&#8220;He was an other. And he hated it. And he hated the people who got to decide that, and who kept opportunities from him. So he was a real one, okay? But he loved the f***ing country,&#8221; Cuomo continued. &#8220;That’s the part that you guys, in my opinion, don’t get right. I don’t believe AOC — or any of your horses — I have a hard time believing they love the country. I think they hate more about it than they love about it. And that may be unfair. But if it is unfair, it’s because of how they’ve made their own case about themselves.&#8221;
Cohen pushed back, claiming that patriotism in the United States was largely performative and &#8220;jingoistic&#8221; in the way that kids are trained to repeat the Pledge of Allegiance. He explained that he&#8217;d taught in France, and said that the students there found the concept of such actions &#8220;foreign.&#8221;

But Cuomo wasn&#8217;t finished. He went on to expand that because Democrats had pushed away from patriotism with such force, they&#8217;d effectively allowed the Right to take complete ownership of symbolic America.
&#8220;Here’s my point: Why are people surprised when they see an American flag on my truck, or in front of my house? Why were the Democrats okay with that becoming a party symbol for the GOP?&#8221; Cuomo asked, adding, &#8220;You are absolutely right, and every political philosopher has only agreed with you that dissent and criticism of your government is one of the strongest forms of patriotism. I don’t even think that’s really an open question.&#8221;
The problem, Cuomo argued, was that the Left had not found a way to balance dissent with patriotism — and the result was that they gave the appearance that they hated the country, whether that was true or not.
&#8220;What do you balance it with?&#8221; he asked. &#8220;When’s the last time you heard Democrats say something good about this country? That’s true, too. And I think it goes to your point about, hey man, you gotta play the game where it stands. I think that a real one who hates certain things that were done to them — systemic, cultural — and is fighting to change it because they believe so much in what this country can be, is, and is at her best. That’s the sweet spot. I can’t think of the last time I heard AOC say something good about the country.&#8221;

I think that this is the birth of the new Left.&#8221;
Cuomo went on to point out the comments that came from House members on the far Left as it became clear that enough Senate Democrats would vote with Republicans to end the shutdown, and suggested that when they were willing to call out members of their own party as &#8220;traitors,&#8221; the eventual split was inevitable.
&#8220;I think the reason that you see so many high-profile Democrats, especially in the House, accusing the Democratic senators for ending the shutdown of basically being traitors,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;Did you hear AOC? She was literally accusing them of a conspiracy, and she said, &#8216;in exchange for nothing.&#8217; It&#8217;s really interesting to me. It makes so little sense on the merits that I have to believe it&#8217;s a ploy.&#8221;
Cuomo pointed out that it would essentially be a losing argument to claim they should have kept the shutdown going despite the increasing number of Americans suffering from its impact.
&#8220;That&#8217;s not an easy thing to want more of,&#8221; he added. &#8220;So was there some deal on the table that we don&#8217;t know about?&#8221;
If not, he argued, &#8220;What this really is, is a line in the sand for them. That we&#8217;re not with them anymore.&#8221;
Cuomo went on to argue that &#8220;capitulation&#8221; from the party in the majority — in this case, the Republicans — &#8220;has never happened&#8221; when it was the minority party keeping the government shut down and making demands.
&#8220;I get why you would want to believe that something could happen,&#8221; he added, tying in the Democratic socialists as he explained that the only logical conclusion was a fairly simple one: &#8220;They want to divide the party. They want maybe to blow up the party, get new leaders, and a new direction.&#8221;

&#8220;You&#8217;re basically saying in that situation, you should be able to shoot them,&#8221; Cuomo observed. &#8220;It&#8217;s effin&#8217; crazy, okay? It&#8217;s just crazy talk!&#8221;
&#8220;How could you ever want to suggest that people should be violent?&#8221; he asked.

Cuomo told viewers on his NewsNation program Wednesday night, “Thank you very much for all the kind words about my brother. I didn’t cover the mayoral election or even comment on it here at NewsNation for obvious reasons, and my feelings about my brother and what he should do now, those are personal, not professional. So, suffice it to say, I love and support my brother, and I’m not worried about him.”
Cuomo revealed that he was not stunned by the outcome.
“It was a low turnout race that people did not think could go the way it did. The enthusiasm and turnout energy were overweighted for the more extreme candidates, as is often the case, and that’s one of the problems with our binary system and with our closed primaries,&#8221; Cuomo said. “Not to mention, and contrary to what was sold by his opponents, Andrew’s no establishment guy and the party was not loving that he ran, but that’s his case to make, okay?”
Gov. Cuomo, 67, who has been elected to that role three times, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-andrew-cuomo-to-resign">resigned</a> in disgrace in 2021 following multiple allegations of sexual harassment by female employees, making him a pariah in the eyes of many primary voters and the Democratic establishment.

“The Democratic Party is now officially in MAGA mode. We are now, on both sides, in a period of extremism,” Cuomo said. “The same way MAGA played with the prejudices of white nationalism, you’re seeing an identical dynamic on the Left with prejudices like tacitly supporting extreme Islamism or targeting Jews.”
“For the Right, it’s migrants. For the Left, it’s Jews. It’s fundamentalist Christians dominating the Right. It’s fundamentalist Islamists making headway on the Left. I know that doesn’t sound like Democrats, but that party is dead. What it will be reborn as, we’ll see,” Cuomo added.
Mamdani has stated that he doesn&#8217;t believe Israel has a right to exist as a Jewish state, refused to condemn calls to “globalize the intifada,” and recorded a <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/06/21/us-news/socialist-nyc-mayoral-candidate-zohran-mamdani-once-rapped-about-his-love-for-hamas-teror-funding-group-holy-land-five/">rap song</a> expressing “love” to convicted Hamas financiers. His October 7 statement notably focused on “ending the occupation” without mentioning Hamas&#8217;s massacre of Israeli civilians.
“What we’re seeing now is that there are many in America who are adopting and adapting to fundamentalism. The outcome in this election wasn’t about affordability or about real change. The winner is an open socialist, and the Democratic Party is now just that: socialistic. But be clear, this is a fictional fix for very real frustrations,” Cuomo concluded.

A number of people have suggested that Ocasio-Cortez is likely to mount a primary challenge against Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) — and Schumer&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-data-guru-its-time-for-chuck-schumer-to-panic-sirens-should-be-going-off" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recent poll numbers</a>, according to CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten, have many wondering whether he could withstand such a battle.
&#8220;They simply don’t like the job he’s doing as Senate leader. I mean, look at this — should Schumer stay as Senate leader? Again, according to New York Democrats, just 50% say yes. Carville began with the economy, arguing that persistent inflation and the coming budget fight would sour voters on Trump.
&#8220;Literally every Western democracy government has failed because of inflation. So I place a lot of stock on that. The trend is going the wrong way. But the real thing here, Chris, is the calendar,&#8221; Carville said. &#8220;And what I’m asking Democrats to do is remember, I think it was Harold Macmillan, might have been Harold Wilson said, ‘Events, my dear boy, events.’ So they have to produce a budget by March the 14th. They have to go through reconciliation. They can’t not do it. They have to extend the debt limit.&#8221;
&#8220;Let the ball come to you. Then throw it. The ball is coming to us,&#8221; Carville continued. &#8220;And the other thing I place a lot of stock in are these organic town halls. These are not being organized by Democratic interest groups. These are not being organized by the DNC. These are just people coming up and saying, we don’t like this at all. And you’re seeing it and as you point out, very smartly in Georgia and Wisconsin and Oregon, I saw something even in Idaho, you know, when you start to lose Idaho, you got some problems.&#8221;
Carville then turned to address Musk — and the efforts being made by the Department Of Government Efficiency project — and said that people angry about what Musk and DOGE were doing would come out in force at the next election.
&#8220;So I think we just have to play possum for a little while. Just let them keep coming. And Musk will turn out, if they keep him, he will be the greatest generator — let me say this very specifically — the greatest generator of Democratic turnout ever, more than Barack Obama. Musk will turn out more Democrats than Obama,&#8221; Carville predicted.

Border Czar Tom Homan announced on Thursday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and cooperating law enforcement officers had already made some 1300 arrests through deportation operations since President Donald Trump&#8217;s inauguration.
Among them, according to a <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/01/24/us-news/trumps-ice-raids-turn-up-pedos-gangbangers-and-ny-based-suspected-terrorist-as-538-migrants-arrested/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> published Friday by The New York Post, were known pedophiles, gang members, and at least one suspected terrorist who was living in New York.
Homan discussed the unfolding situation with NewsNation host Chris Cuomo, where he explained that of the 1300 arrests, more than 1000 had committed additional crimes other than simply coming into the United States illegally or overstaying a legal visa.

Homan went on to explain that &#8220;collaterals&#8221; were illegal aliens who had not necessarily committed additional crimes other than entering the country illegally, but they got caught up when ICE agents arrested someone else who should have been held by local authorities but were not because they were in a &#8220;sanctuary&#8221; jurisdiction.
&#8220;Look, I said from day one, no one’s off the table,&#8221; Homan added. &#8220;If you&#8217;re in the United States illegally, you&#8217;ve got a problem. But we are concentrating on public safety threats first. That just makes sense.&#8221;

ICE agents in Buffalo announced the apprehension of &#8220;Pedro Julio Meja, a citizen of the Dominican Republic, was previously convicted of sexual conduct against a child,&#8221; along with &#8220;Luis Alberto Espinoza-Boconsaca, an Ecuadorian who was convicted of rape.&#8221; The third arrest in Buffalo was Canadian citizen Albert Mills, who was previously convicted of &#8220;endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of stolen property.&#8221;
ICE made arrests in cities across the United States — including two Chinese nationals in St. Louis, Missouri; 24-year-old Venezuelan and known Tren de Aragua member Yoswaldo Jose Mata-Ribice in San Antonio, Texas; and 42-year-old Mexican national and Barrio Azteca gang member Jesus Alberto Barron-Lavin in El Paso, Texas.

But then he pivoted to what the Democrats on the committee had actually asked Hegseth about, adding, &#8220;Or would your top concern be his marriage? Is your biggest fear that an army of trans folk are going to take over? Because those were the concerns that the most deliberative body in the world focused on today.&#8221;
Cuomo then directly referenced Kaine&#8217;s line of questioning — a series of queries all related to Hegseth&#8217;s marital infidelities and whether or not he was fit to serve if he&#8217;d broken his marriage vows: &#8220;Here is the moment that Democrats are choosing to send around the internet as their big win: Senator Tim Kaine giving Hegseth the Bill Clinton.&#8221;
&#8220;Two points of disgust: How many people on that committee, how many in Congress, could pass the Kaine test that you can’t honor an oath to serve if you’ve ever been unfaithful?&#8221; Cuomo asked, taking much the same position as Senator Markwayne Mullin had during the hearing. &#8220;Kaine may be sitting in that room alone.&#8221;

Media personalities Chris Cuomo, Bill O&#8217;Reilly, and Stephen A. Smith slammed the media for ignoring a story <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/doug-emhoff-accused-of-hitting-ex-girlfriend-in-the-face-at-high-profile-event-report">published</a> by the Daily Mail this week that detailed accusations that Vice President Kamala Harris&#8217; husband, Doug Emhoff, struck his girlfriend in the face because he thought she was flirting with another man.
Three friends of the woman, a New York lawyer, told the Daily Mail about the alleged attack in 2012 on the condition that neither they nor the woman, who was only identified as “Jane,” be named out of fear of retaliation.
The report said Emhoff and Jane were in line waiting for a taxi as they were leaving the Cannes Film Festival in France when Jane tipped a valet, hoping to get moved to the front of the line. During the interaction, she allegedly placed her hand on his shoulder, and Emhoff thought that she was hitting on the valet.
He allegedly smacked her across the face so hard that she spun around.
&#8220;If the name were Trump instead of Emhoff in this story, it would be all over the news right now,&#8221; Cuomo said on his NewsNation show.
The reporter who published the explosive story, Josh Boswell, said that the publication would not have published it unless it was &#8220;very credible,&#8221; noting that there were credible contemporaneous accounts of the incident and documents about how the two were traveling to the event together. He added that there was even video footage of them together at the event.
&#8220;If it were Trump or anyone related to him, it would be on every TV show that is on right now,&#8221; Cuomo added. &#8220;And that&#8217;s why I think of the interest of fairness you should look at it.&#8221;

Smith agreed: &#8220;In fairness to Donald Trump, which is not something you hear me or most people say all the time, it is absolutely true if this were him, it would be all over the place. It would be printed. It would be publicized everywhere.&#8221;
&#8220;We also have to take into account 2018 when then-Senator Kamala Harris, obviously, when the whole Brett Kavanaugh situation, when Brett Kavanaugh was obviously running for the Supreme Court &#8230; I remember her wearing all black and saying she was wearing all black, and &#8216;I wore black today in support of all survivors of sexual assault or abuse,'&#8221; Smith continued. &#8220;And it was a hashtag, #BelieveSurvivors, etc, etc. And so when you do something like that, it&#8217;s going to be politicized.&#8221;
O&#8217;Reilly said that left-wing activists and movements like Me Too and Time&#8217;s Up will say nothing about the alleged attack.
&#8220;But if it were a Republican or conservative, they would be denying the person accused of due process, because that&#8217;s what they do, unless it&#8217;s someone on [their] side,&#8221; he said.
Smith agreed, saying that the &#8220;bias&#8221;, &#8220;favoritism&#8221;, and &#8220;lack of neutrality&#8221; in the media was a serious issue.

NewsNation anchor Chris Cuomo chastised CBS News vice presidential debate moderators Norah O&#8217;Donnell and Margaret Brennan for inserting themselves into the conversation rather than simply letting the scene play itself out.
Cuomo gave his feedback after the Tuesday night debate — between Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) and Senator JD Vance (R-OH) — was over, and he focused on one exchange between Vance and the moderators. In that specific instance, despite announcing prior to the debate that they would not fact-check the candidates, they had opted to interrupt and challenge Vance anyway — and when he rebutted that challenge, he was in the right.

Both Brennan and O&#8217;Donnell repeatedly interrupted Vance and talked over him, trying to move on to the next topic. &#8220;We&#8217;re going to turn now to the economy, thank you,&#8221; O&#8217;Donnell said.

When he went on to lay out the facts, they interrupted him again. &#8220;Thank you, Senator &#8230; thank you, Senator, for describing the legal process &#8230;&#8221; Brennan interjected, adding, &#8220;We have so much to get to, Senator.&#8221;
When Walz cut in briefly, Brennan immediately stopped talking so that he could be heard, but when Vance pushed back, they cut off the candidates&#8217; microphones.
&#8220;Vance was right, okay? There’s nuance to it, but the bigger problem is why he was moved on? ‘We’ve got so much to get to.’ Says who?&#8221; Cuomo objected. &#8220;What is the schedule here? You have a list of topics? That’s not what this is about. It’s about how the American people can access these two men and the two theories and the narratives and you’ve got to let them have their speak, because now you created a story where you&#8217;re the problem.&#8221;

NewsNation host Chris Cuomo immediately contradicted his Democrat guest during a recent interview, calling him out for claiming that former President Donald Trump was the &#8220;only one perpetuating violence&#8221; when it came to political rhetoric.
Cuomo spoke with MSNBC contributor Brian Tyler Cohen about the fact that there have now been two assassination attempts on the former president — the most recent foiled by U.S. Secret Service agents just this past Sunday — and the Trump campaign has called on Democrats, in particular, to tone down the rhetoric that could potentially incite violent actions.
Cuomo began the conversation by asking why Democrats had gotten so mad at him for suggesting they should take steps to lower the temperature.
