CNN host Chris Cuomo made a lighthearted joke about his &#8220;preferred pronouns&#8221; during the network&#8217;s LGBT-focused town hall event on Thursday night, but quickly felt compelled to apologize.
Flexing her LGBT chops, Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) told Cuomo at the outset, &#8220;My pronouns are she, her and hers.&#8221;
&#8220;She, her and hers? Mine, too,&#8221; Cuomo quipped.
&#8220;All right,&#8221; the presidential hopeful said back, unamused.
The CNN host was quickly hit with backlash online for his egregious transgression.

Cuomo posted a public apology to social media later that night in which he insisted to those now questioning his commitment to the LGBT cause that he truly is &#8220;an ally&#8221;:

The town hall also took heat from folks on the Right over their use of two transgender nine-year-old children. One child was accompanied by their mother who posed a question. The other child, Jacob, was met with thunderous applause when the nine-year-old asked a question to Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).
“My name&#8217;s Jacob, and I&#8217;m a nine-year-old transgender American,&#8221; the child, a biological female, said.
Warren, as well as the CNN audience, loudly applauded the child’s declaration of transgenderism. &#8220;All right, Jacob!&#8221; the senator gushed.
Jacob asked the senator what she&#8217;ll do her first week as president to make transgender kids &#8220;feel safer in schools&#8221; and what schools should be doing so all the child has to &#8220;worry about&#8221; is &#8220;homework.&#8221;
&#8220;Let me start by saying I want to have a secretary of education that who both believes in public education and believes in the value of every one of our kids and is willing to enforce our civil rights laws,&#8221; the presidential hopeful responded, as reported by The Washington Examiner. &#8220;We&#8217;ve had some secretaries of education who&#8217;ve been better, and we&#8217;ve had one that&#8217;s been a whole lot worse. Her name is Betsy DeVos. So, when I&#8217;m president, she&#8217;ll be gone.&#8221;
&#8220;I want to make sure that the person I think is the right secretary of education meets you and and hears your story, and then I want you to tell me if you think that&#8217;s the right person and then we&#8217;ll make the deal,&#8221; the presidential hopeful told the child.

President Donald Trump defended his lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, on Monday when answering questions from reporters, saying that Giuliani dismantled CNN&#8217;s Chris Cuomo during a recent appearance on the network.
Trump made the remarks in response to a reporter asking him if he is &#8220;happy with the way Rudy Giuliani has been handling the Ukraine situation.&#8221;
&#8220;I think he was excellent,&#8221; Trump responded. &#8220;I watched him the other night, I haven&#8217;t watched that show in a long time, I don&#8217;t watch CNN, because it&#8217;s fake news.&#8221;
&#8220;I watched Rudy take apart Fredo. Fredo&#8217;s performance was incompetent. Rudy took him apart,&#8221; Trump continued. &#8220;Rudy Giuliani took Fredo to the cleaners.&#8221;

Critics have frequently referred to Cuomo as &#8220;Fredo&#8221; as a way to mock him, but the nickname for the CNN host became mainstream over the summer after Cuomo had a public meltdown over someone calling him the name to his face.
&#8220;I thought that&#8217;s who you were,&#8221; the man said to Cuomo.
&#8220;No, punk-a** b****es from the Right call me Fredo,&#8221; Cuomo responded. &#8220;My name is Chris Cuomo. I&#8217;m an anchor on CNN.&#8221;
&#8220;Fredo is from &#8216;The Godfather,&#8217; he was that weak brother and they&#8217;re using it as an Italian aspersion,&#8221; Cuomo continued. &#8220;It&#8217;s like the &#8216;N-word&#8217; for us.&#8221;
The man responded to Cuomo&#8217;s intense words by remarking, &#8220;You&#8217;re a much more reasonable guy in person than you seem to be on television.&#8221;
Cuomo later said, &#8220;You&#8217;re going to have a f***ing problem.&#8221;
&#8220;What are you going to do about it?&#8221; the man asked.
Cuomo responded with a string of expletives. &#8220;I&#8217;ll f***ing ruin your shit,&#8221; the CNN host said. &#8220;I&#8217;ll f***ing throw you down these stairs like a f***ing punk.&#8221;

Every single thing you just said is completely spun in the same direction you&#8217;ve been doing for two years with these &#8220;Oh, tonight, Papadopoulos is going to prove Russian collusion.&#8221; Let me tell you what happened, OK?
CUOMO: Yes.
GIULIANI: What &#8212; what happened is that I was investigating, going back to last year, complaints that the Ukrainian people, several people in Ukraine, knew about a tremendous amount of collusion between Ukrainian officials, and Hillary Clinton, and the Democratic National Committee, including a completely fraudulent document that was produced, in order to begin the investigation of Manafort.
They were trying to get to us. But they were being blocked by the Ambassador who was Obama-appointee, in Ukraine, who was holding back this information. In the course of investigating that, I found out this incredible story about Joe Biden that he bribed the President of the Ukraine in order to fire a prosecutor who was investigating his son.
That is an astounding scandal, of major proportions, which all of you have covered up, for about five or six months. You&#8217;ve also covered up the fact that Biden and his son took $1.5 billion out of China.
And that&#8217;s why the President thinks you&#8217;re a corrupt media, because if this would &#8212; President Trump and Donald Trump Jr., and they took millions of dollars from a corrupt oligarch in the Ukraine, and they took $1.5 billion out of China, while the President was negotiating with China, you would be screaming, and yelling, and going crazy about how corrupt it is. CNN&#8217;s Chris Cuomo cares so much about America that sometimes he&#8217;ll just yell out to a guy who called him &#8220;Fredo&#8221; — &#8220;I&#8217;ll f***ing throw you down these stairs like a f***ing punk,&#8221; and &#8220;You&#8217;re gonna&#8217; call me Fredo, take a f***ing swing? I&#8217;ll f***ing wreck your sh**.&#8221;
Now that&#8217;s loving America.
But Cuomo says President Trump doesn&#8217;t love America, and he&#8217;s got proof.
On his show &#8220;Cuomo Prime Time&#8221; this week, the Host With The Most put on screen split shots of presidents Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Trump, showing them before they took office and after they left office (or, in Trump&#8217;s case, after two-and-a-half years in the White House).
Trump has barely aged, and that troubles Cuomo deeply.
&#8220;I mean come on, look at Clinton&#8217;s hair — went white. George W. Bush looks like he got a beat down. Obama looks like his own grandfather &#8230; this is a very hard job because of the stress they carry with them,&#8221; he said.
&#8220;Now let&#8217;s look look at this president. It&#8217;s been almost three years since Trump won the presidency. He looks exactly the same,&#8221; he said.
Then Cuomo did what Cuomo does: He hit Trump over his hair and implied that he may have had plastic surgery (remember, people, he&#8217;s a journalist).
&#8220;His hair is — I don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s going on with that. But he may do things that presidents in the past haven&#8217;t done to augment their physical reality,&#8221; he suggested.
Finally, Cuomo got to his big point.
&#8220;But it could also be he doesn&#8217;t care the way others have. He seems content to vent and foment problems. &#8230; He doesn&#8217;t deal with the trying business of compromise,&#8221; Cuomo said. &#8220;He chases the easy slumber of blaming others and sowing the seeds of discord and division.&#8221;
Cuomo also said Trump &#8220;told us a very important truth today,&#8221; then played a clip of the president saying, &#8220;nothing keeps me up at night.&#8221;
That, too, troubles Cuomo. The host said that Obama sometimes couldn&#8217;t sleep at night, and that made him a great leader &#8220;because a leader feels the pain of those he leads.&#8221;
After a lofty reference to Shakespeare&#8217;s &#8220;Henry the Fourth,&#8221; Cuomo got back in the gutter to offer Trump some advice: &#8220;Maybe this president could use a sleepless night or two&#8221; and &#8220;fewer hours in front of the TV and on the golf course.&#8221;
&#8220;Shouldn&#8217;t he process that pain and lose sleep? Isn&#8217;t that what the job is about? Doesn&#8217;t he see their faces?&#8221; Cuomo said in conclusion. &#8220;Can you imagine all of this on your shoulders and not needing a bottle of Ambien to just take a nap. How about this, care more. Mr. President, you may sleep less but the rest of this country may rest a little easier.&#8221;

CNN’s Chris Cuomo Says Trump Not Visibly Aging In Office Because He Doesn’t Care About America

While the CNN top leadership came to Chris Cuomo&#8217;s defense following his angry outburst at a heckler who referred to him as the character Fredo from &#8220;The Godfather,&#8221; word on the inside is that the staff feels &#8220;embarrassed&#8221; by the whole ordeal, especially his denunciation of the Fredo insult as an ethnic slur akin to that of the N-word.
&#8220;One insider said they personally thought the run-in was &#8216;great&#8217; and that Cuomo would get a pass from higher-ups because &#8216;he&#8217;s BFFs with [CNN president Jeff] Zucker,'&#8221; reports <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/cnn-staff-embarrassed-by-chris-cuomos-fredo-flap">Fox News</a>.
Another staff member told the news outlet that Cuomo escalated the situation with the heckler way too far, embarrassing everyone at CNN.
&#8220;Everyone thinks it&#8217;s fine to stand up to trolls, but it escalated way past where it needed to,&#8221; said the source. &#8220;It was embarrassing. It was an unforced error, and he gave the Right — and the president — ammunition to use against him and CNN.&#8221;
The viral video of Cuomo showed him threatening the heckler that he&#8217;d throw him &#8220;down these stairs like a f***ing punk&#8221; if he persisted mocking him.

CNN largely backed Cuomo, with even some prominent conservatives like Sean Hannity stepping up in his defense. &#8220;I say good for [Chris Cuomo],&#8221; Sean Hannity <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/50594/sean-hannity-comes-defense-chris-cuomo-he-deserves-amanda-prestigiacomo">said in response</a>. &#8220;He&#8217;s out with his 9-year-old daughter, and his wife, and this guy is being a jacka** in front of his family. Regardless, as the CNN staff predicted, President Donald Trump and conservatives have been milking the Cuomo outburst to its fullest. &#8220;I thought Chris was Fredo also. The truth hurts. Totally lost it! Low ratings [CNN],&#8221; the president tweeted.

REPORT: CNN ‘Embarrassed’ By Cuomo Outburst

CNN&#8217;s Chris Cuomo&#8217;s recent outburst against a heckler referring to him as &#8220;Fredo&#8221; in reference to &#8220;The Godfather&#8221; character has yielded mixed reactions among both the Left and the Right. Tuesday night, Trevor Noah of &#8220;The Daily Show&#8221; mocked famed host for comparing the &#8220;Fredo&#8221; insult to the n-word, according to <a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/daily-shows-trevor-noah-mocks-cnns-chris-cuomo-fredo-is-not-the-n-word">The Daily Beast</a>.
&#8220;Yo, Chris Cuomo doesn&#8217;t mess around!&#8221; Noah said regarding Cuomo. &#8220;Now I see why CNN makes people fight in separate boxes. That&#8217;s just workplace safety.&#8221;

Trevor Noah understood Cuomo&#8217;s contention that Fredo could be a &#8220;negative Italian stereotype&#8221; but couldn&#8217;t help but laugh that he chose to react in a way that &#8220;seemed like a negative Italian stereotype.&#8221;
As to whether or not the Fredo insult amounted to the n-word, Noah brought out correspondent Roy Wood Jr. to offer his take.
&#8220;Is calling an Italian person ‘Fredo’ the same as calling a black person the ‘n-word’?&#8221; the correspondent asked. After a few beats of awkwardly staring into the camera, Roy Wood Jr. just walked off the set.
Not everyone has seized the moment to mock Chris Cuomo, however. In fact, some conservatives have outright defended him due to the fact that the men heckled him while being out with his family.

Tiana Lowe of the <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/dont-heckle-people-in-their-private-lives-not-even-chris-cuomo">Washington Examiner</a> also argued that while Cuomo should not have referred to Fredo as the n-word, people should recognize that public figures should not be heckled, especially in front of their family.

But lost here is the more important lesson of CNN&#8217;s defense: Public figures in a private capacity deserve not to be heckled or threatened in civil society, especially in front of their children.
Based on the available <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/08/13/chris-cuomo-fredo-video-threats-cnn/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">reporting</a>, the video seems to have been prompted by a right-wing troll who accosted Cuomo at a Shelter Island bar while the anchor was on vacation. The unidentified man, who presumably staged the encounter, then sent the video to a right-wing YouTube channel.
It&#8217;s wrong to aggressively confront a public figure in a private capacity, especially if it&#8217;s with the sole intention of filming a provocation. It&#8217;s one thing to politely voice a concern or complaint with someone if they seem willing to engage with a stranger in their personal time. It&#8217;s entirely another to harass them while they&#8217;re on a family vacation.</blockquote>
Cuomo himself has at least acknowledged he went too far by threatening violence on the man who heckled him in public.
&#8220;Appreciate all the support but — truth is I should be better than the guys baiting me,&#8221; he said in a tweet. &#8220;This happens all the time these days. Often in front of my family. But there is a lesson: no need to add to the ugliness; I should be better than what I oppose.&#8221;

On Tuesday&#8217;s episode of &#8220;The Andrew Klavan Show,&#8221; Klavan talks about how CNN defended Chris Cuomo when he threatened to throw a man down a flight of stairs. Video and partial transcript below: 
I thought I came up with calling Cuomo &#8220;Fredo,&#8221; but it was Rush Limbaugh. I can see the point he was way up before me on this. Some people accuse me of taking things from other people. I almost never do but Rush did get this first. He calls [Cuomo] Fredo which is very, very appropriate. Why? Because Fredo is the dumb brother in &#8220;The Godfather.&#8221; So [Fredo] is from a big powerful Italian family like Chris Cuomo, and he&#8217;s the dumb guy. So some guy comes up to him and pretends that he thinks his name is really Fredo, and Chris Cuomo just goes off and it was all caught on video here it is.

Let&#8217;s let&#8217;s play the other one, and this one is either Cuomo, in fact, going after this guy, or it&#8217;s another scene from &#8220;The Godfather.&#8221;

So CNN defended him. That&#8217;s actually indefensible. It is indefensible to have your employee go out and threaten to throw somebody down a flight of stairs. That&#8217;s indefensible — to have a public figure do that — especially a guy who&#8217;s in the news business. He&#8217;s doing it because he&#8217;s irrelevant. He&#8217;s doing it because they go — you know listen. It&#8217;s hard work coming on and doing commentary. It&#8217;s hard work coming on and doing reporting. But when you have become a laughing stock — he is Fredo. I mean, he&#8217;s a laughingstock. When you’ve become a laughingstock, it&#8217;s aggravating. He&#8217;s angry. You know he&#8217;s angry.
Then, Trump — Trump goes after him. The one thing you gotta say about Trump is [that] he has got an instinct for insulting people. He sends out a tweet and says: &#8220;Would Chris Cuomo be given a red flag for his recent rant?&#8230; Filthy language and a total loss of control. He shouldn&#8217;t be allowed to have any weapon. He’s nuts!&#8221;

So he&#8217;s going after these supposed red flag laws that they want to get people — to get crazy people not to get their hands on guns. He&#8217;s saying how easy it would be to call somebody crazy. [Cuomo] should not have been defended by CNN. They should suspend him. I mean that. Really, really you cannot have your people threatening the public. When you&#8217;re basically there to communicate with the public, threatening the public — to throw him down a flight of stairs.
Cuomo comes out and says, &#8220;Appreciate all the support but — truth is I should be better than the guys baiting me. This happens all the time these days. Often in front of my family. But there is a lesson: no need to add to the ugliness; I should be better than what I oppose.&#8221;

KLAVAN: The Real Reason Chris Cuomo Exploded

On Tuesday&#8217;s episode of &#8220;The Michael Knowles Show,&#8221; Knowles discusses how CNN turned the name &#8220;Fredo&#8221; into a fake ethnic slur for political convenience. Video and partial transcript below: 
Here is the irony of it all — is that someone calls Chris Cuomo &#8220;Fredo&#8221; and then Chris Cuomo gets angry about this and his reaction is immediately to behave exactly like Fredo Corleone. Here he is from the movie:
<blockquote>FREDO: I&#8217;m your older brother Mike and I was stepped over. It ain’t the way I wanted it. I can handle things, I&#8217;m smart! Unlike everybody says, I’m dumb. I’m smart and I want respect!</blockquote>
You call me Fredo, but I&#8217;m not Fredo, I&#8217;m smart. I got passed over for governor of New York, like my father Mario and my brother Andrew, but I&#8217;m smart. I can do things, I can handle things, I’m not dumb like people think.
That was almost word for word his response to this. Absolutely hilarious. So then he doubled down. So he said this is a racial slur, because that&#8217;s just what the Left does — they play the race card the minute they feel threatened, or they feel insulted, or they feel like they can&#8217;t answer you. CNN though, the vice president and spokesman for CNN Matt Dornic, doubled down on this as well. He wrote, quote:

That first sentence is almost entirely false. There are three things that he said that just are ridiculous. Verbally attacked. Ethnic slur. And orchestrated setup. He wasn&#8217;t verbally attacked — some guy called him Fredo. It&#8217;s like a little passing insult. It&#8217;s not an attack. We&#8217;re not equating speech with violence here, he didn&#8217;t go assault him. Chris Cuomo assaulted him — I mean he literally threatened to do physical violence, which we&#8217;ll see in a second. But the guy didn&#8217;t verbally attack him — he made fun of him. He said, &#8220;Hey, Fredo. Hey, look at you, Fredo.&#8221; Then &#8220;ethnic slur.&#8221; It&#8217;s not an ethnic slur. And then &#8220;orchestrated setup.&#8221; No, it&#8217;s not an orchestrated setup. They were at a restaurant.
Here&#8217;s what really happened: A dude at a restaurant saw Chris Cuomo and made fun of him. That&#8217;s it. That&#8217;s all it was.

Even though I do have some expertise on this — coming from New York as someone of swarthy complexion whose ancestors almost certainly paddled the sardine boat over from Palermo — you don&#8217;t need to just take my expertise because I have proof that CNN does not really think that Fredo is an ethnic slur. And that&#8217;s because CNN contributors and guests have repeatedly used the term Fredo to make fun of Republicans. Not even Italian Americans. Just Republicans. Here&#8217;s fake Republican Ana Navarro using the term Fredo on Chris Cuomo’s show to make fun of Donald Trump Jr.
<blockquote>NAVARRO: Daddy kept Fredo back home. So who cares what Donald Trump Jr says? Who cares what Donald Trump Jr says? All right, you know what, I don&#8217;t want to talk about that entitled little brat.</blockquote>
Is that a racial slur? Is it a racial slur against, what, the Scottish? The Trumps are Scottish, right? Yes.
I guess Fredo was an ethnic slur against the Italians and the Scots. You know, I&#8217;m a little bit Scottish too. It&#8217;s also not an ethnic slur against the Scots. Is it an offensive term toward Don Jr? Yeah. Well they&#8217;re basically calling Don stupid — Don, by the way, Don Jr is in no way the Fredo of the Trump family, but that&#8217;s neither here nor there. Probably just one time though right. Well, it&#8217;s just one example, Michael, you&#8217;re picking out that — well how fortunate, how convenient, one cherry-picked example right? Nope. Here is Rick Wilson, another fake Republican, also using the term on CNN.
It&#8217;s absolutely part of this. This, oh, all the forces of society are arrayed against us; it&#8217;s just us and Donald Trump against the world. And look, &#8220;Devin Nunez is proving himself again and again to be the Fredo of the Republican Party.&#8221;
Oh gosh, an ethnic slur. Oh my goodness, is this the end of the world, I don&#8217;t know. Ryan Lizza and Anderson Cooper, who were on that show, don&#8217;t seem to be reacting too strongly against it.

KNOWLES: CNN Knows ‘Fredo’ Isn’t An Ethnic Slur, And Here’s Proof

CNN Anchorman Chris Cuomo apparently doesn&#8217;t like being called Fredo. The dumbest member of a powerful Italian family with a father who raised them from poverty to the heights of influence and a brother who inherited that mantle and became a spawn of evil, Cuomo says the phrase is an insult meant to represent the dumbest member of a powerful Italian family with a father who raised them from poverty to the heights of influence and a brother who inherited that mantle and became a representative of evil — and is therefore a racial slur.
When Cuomo was recently approached by a right-wing troll who called him Fredo, he lost his temper and launched into a foul mouthed rant, threatening the troll with violence and saying he would ensure that the troll and all his friends were massacred in a groundbreaking cinematic montage during the baptism of his nephew.
After the incident, Cuomo released a statement through family lawyer Tom Hagen, saying, &#8220;Calling me Fredo is an insult. Unlike Fredo, I can handle things and I&#8217;m smart — not like everybody says, like dumb. I&#8217;m smart and I want some respect.&#8221;
A spokesman for CNN defended Cuomo’s outburst, saying, &#8220;Normally, when a newsman unleashes denigrating invective at a person simply because that person disagrees with him politically, the newsman would be fired. But here at CNN, that&#8217;s our entire business model.&#8221;
Conservative commentator Sean Hannity also defended Cuomo, saying, &#8220;Chris was with his wife and 9-year-old daughter when the troll approached him so obscenity-laced threats of physical violence in response to mild mockery were entirely appropriate.&#8221;
President Trump, however, took issue with Cuomo, saying, &#8220;He completely lost control and said idiotic stuff that could compromise his popularity with anyone who doesn&#8217;t already agree with him and you&#8217;d never see me doing something like that.&#8221;
CNN said it would continue to support Cuomo completely but that the anchorman was not available for comment because he had gone fishing on the lake with Al Neri.

On Tuesday&#8217;s episode of &#8220;The Ben Shapiro Show,&#8221; Shapiro demonstrates the ridiculous level to which politics and journalism has descended. Video and partial transcript below:
Chris Cuomo, it&#8217;s not the first time that he has equated something with the N-word. He&#8217;s got to stop doing it guys, it&#8217;s not good policy. And CNN backed him on it, right. CNN was like, &#8220;Yes, Fredo is an ethnic slur.&#8221; It is not an ethnic slur. Here is just a few months ago, Chris Cuomo declaring that if you use the term &#8220;fake news,&#8221; it&#8217;s like the N-word for members of the media.
Which makes perfect sense because members of the media have been ganged up on, lynched, [and] hanged for centuries in America. [They have been] enslaved, treated like second-class citizens, subjected to Jim Crow — oh wait, none of that has happened to journalists. This is a bunch of crap. Here&#8217;s Chris Cuomo saying a dumb thing about the N-word:
<blockquote>CUOMO: I see being called fake news as the equivalent of the N-word for journalists. The equivalent of calling an Italian, any of the ugly words that people have for that ethnicity. It&#8217;s just like the N-word. It&#8217;s just like the N-word. For Chris Cuomo, everything apparently that offends him is like the N-word, by the way. I just want to put it out there, if Fredo is an ethnic slur for Italians, there are a few others we should be careful of: &#8220;Frodo&#8221; is apparently an ethnic slur for hobbits. And &#8220;Greedo&#8221; is actually an ethnic slur for Rodian bounty hunters. So, we should be very careful about the kind of verbiage that we use. We don&#8217;t want to trigger people. We don&#8217;t want them to get too upset. Enter Donald Trump through the wall like the Kool-Aid Man.
If there&#8217;s a controversy, then the Bat Signal is up in the night sky, [it’s] the big &#8220;T,&#8221; for Donald Trump. Somewhere, someone has said something foolish, and Donald Trump must weigh in! So, Donald Trump descends like the Caped Crusader he is, into the middle of what is an irrelevant stupid fight. And he jetpacks in there like the Rocketeer. [He] says, &#8220;I thought Chris was Fredo also. The truth hurts. Totally lost it! Low ratings CNN.&#8221;

(Laughing hard) Yes. Okay. Come on guys. That&#8217;s some funny bleep. Come on. I mean, I understand. Not Lincoln, right. We get it, we get it, OK. We get all the critiques. I get Bill Kristol ripping on him, demeaning the office of the president, I get it.
(Unable to constrain his laughter) Okay. I understand, I understand. Okay. Well I&#8217;m on the same page guys. But come on, this is funny!
If you can&#8217;t appreciate the fact that a CNN anchor — who calls Trump a white supremacist, on a fairly regular basis — is likening Fredo, the young stupid brother, from the &#8220;Godfather&#8221; to the N-word, and then Donald Trump is then jumping in to be like (Trump impression), &#8220;That&#8217;s right. Fredo, get it, Fredo. The truth hurts. Lost it. Low ratings.&#8221;
It&#8217;s like he&#8217;s a bot, programmed to watch a thousand hours of Trump, and then this is what the tweets come up with. At this point I don&#8217;t even know that Trump is tweeting for himself. There is a robot Trump tweeting for Trump, just taking old phrases of Trump&#8217;s, and then stringing them together in tweets. All the tweets are three-word phrases. My favorite is the tag at the end. (Trump impression): &#8220;Low ratings @CNN.&#8221; What does that have to do with anything? But it&#8217;s the best and also the worst, and the best.
(Another Trump impression) &#8220;I thought Chris was Fredo also. Yeah, I love that movie. That movie is great. Didn&#8217;t really understand the plot to &#8216;Godfather 2&#8217; and to &#8216;Godfather 3.&#8217; Why would he ditch Bridget Fonda for Sofia Coppola? It makes no sense, but Chris Fredo — on the mark.&#8221;
(Presidential secretary impression) Mr. President, you&#8217;re required in the Situation Room, sir.
Well the good news is this means that the media will now have to declare that Fredo is in fact an ethnic slur for Italians because now Trump said it, right? So now we&#8217;re just gonna rewrite the whole English language because everything Trump says is an ethnic slur. Oh, my g-d, it&#8217;s so absurd. Everything is absurd. How did we enter this reality? How do we get back to the regular reality, where Mitt Romney is president since 2012? How do we get back there?
I don&#8217;t know, but I also know it won&#8217;t be nearly as entertaining.

In a video that surfaced online on Monday night, CNN&#8217;s Chris Cuomo confronted a heckler who called him the name &#8220;Fredo,&#8221; a reference to a character from &#8220;The Godfather&#8221; films. Confronting the man, Cuomo said the term was an &#8220;aspersion&#8221; against Italians and compared it to the N-word.
&#8220;Punk a** b****es from the Right call me Fredo,&#8221; Cuomo <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/50594/sean-hannity-comes-defense-chris-cuomo-he-deserves-amanda-prestigiacomo">told</a> him. &#8220;I&#8217;m an anchor on CNN. Fredo is from &#8216;The Godfather,&#8217; he was that weak brother. And they use it as an Italian aspersion. … It&#8217;s like the &#8216;N word&#8217; for us.”
This isn&#8217;t the first time Cuomo has compared an insult against him to the N-word. In February 2017, the CNN host said calling a journalist &#8220;fake news&#8221; is like calling a black person the N-word.
&#8220;I see being called &#8216;fake news&#8217; as the equivalent of the N-word for journalists,&#8221; Cuomo said on Sirius XM&#8217;s &#8220;POTUS,&#8221; <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/news/318794-cnn-host-fake-news-the-n-word-for-journalists">according</a> to The Hill.
&#8220;[It&#8217;s] the equivalent of calling an Italian any of the ugly words that people have for that ethnicity. That&#8217;s what fake news is to a journalist,&#8221; the &#8220;New Day&#8221; host continued, adding: &#8220;It is an ugly insult, and you had better be right if you&#8217;re going to charge a journalist with lying on purpose.&#8221;
Cuomo apologized for the comment days later on Twitter. &#8220;I was wrong. Calling a journalist fake [is] nothing compared to the pain of a racial slur. I should not have said it. I apologize,&#8221; he wrote.

Cuomo has yet to offer any clarification for his latest claim that the name Fredo is equivalent to the N-word, though he did apologize for his aggressive actions in a Tuesday tweet.

CNN quickly defended Cuomo following the release of the video, however. As noted by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/50548/cnns-pr-head-responds-cuomo-fredo-meltdown-trump-ryan-saavedra">The Daily Wire</a> Monday night, a top PR official for the network, Matt Dornic, said in a tweet that calling an Italian the name Fredo is &#8220;an ethnic slur.&#8221;

On Monday evening, Fox News host Sean Hannity defended CNN&#8217;s Chris Cuomo for losing his cool and threatening violence against a heckler in public while he was accompanied by his family.
&#8220;I say good for [Chris Cuomo],&#8221; Hannity captioned a video of the incident. &#8220;He&#8217;s out with his 9 year old daughter, and his wife, and this guy is being a jacka** in front of his family.&#8221;
&#8220;[In my opinion] Chris Cuomo has zero to apologize for,&#8221; the Fox host added. &#8220;He deserves the apology.&#8221;

In the leaked video, Cuomo confronted a man for calling him the name &#8220;Fredo,&#8221; a reference from &#8220;The Godfather&#8221; films. The CNN host threatened to throw the man down some stairs and told him calling an Italian the name Fredo was like calling a black person the N-word.
Here&#8217;s partial transcript from the interaction, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/50557/president-trump-weighs-chris-cuomos-fredo-meltdown-amanda-prestigiacomo">reported</a> by The Daily Wire:

&#8220;I don&#8217;t have a problem with you,&#8221; the man said.
&#8220;You&#8217;re gonna have a f***ing problem,&#8221; Cuomo responded. &#8220;I&#8217;ll fucking ruin your s***. I&#8217;ll f***ing throw you down these stairs like a f***ing punk.”
&#8220;Please do,&#8221; the man answered.

Later on Tuesday, Trump retweeted a GIF of the famous scene wherein Fredo complains to his brother, Michael, that he was passed over by their father, tells him he&#8217;s smart and wants respect. The GIF was tweeted out by popular right-wing Twitter account &#8220;Comfortably Smug&#8221; as a reply to Cuomo&#8217;s apology.

In a video that quickly went viral Monday, CNN host Chris Cuomo explodes on a man after he refers to Cuomo as &#8220;Fredo,&#8221; a frequently repeated reference to the &#8220;weak&#8221; middle brother of the Corleone sons in &#8220;The Godfather.&#8221; In the video, Cuomo — the younger brother of Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo — claims that people use the name Fredo &#8220;as an Italian aspersion,&#8221; declaring, &#8220;It&#8217;s like the &#8216;N word&#8217; for us.&#8221;
In response, CNN came to Cuomo&#8217;s defense and officially agreed that Fredo is an &#8220;ethnic slur,&#8221; prompting a slew of posts online reminding CNN of the times the &#8220;ethnic slur&#8221; has been used on the network without rebuke.
The &#8220;Fredo&#8221; controversy began with a video posted by &#8220;That&#8217;s the Point with Brandon&#8221; that quickly circulated online. In the video, Cuomo — who doesn&#8217;t initially realize he&#8217;s on camera — threatens to &#8220;f***in ruin your sh**&#8221; and &#8220;f***ing throw you down the stairs&#8221; for calling him by what he claims is the Italian &#8220;N-word.&#8221;
CNN&#8217;s top public relations official tweeted in response that the network &#8220;completely&#8221; supports Cuomo and agreed that he was called an &#8220;ethnic slur.&#8221; &#8220;Chris Cuomo defended himself when he was verbally attacked with the use of an ethnic slur in an orchestrated setup,&#8221; wrote CNN&#8217;s Matt Dornic. &#8220;We completely support him.&#8221;

Cortes battled against comments ranging from Cuomo claiming that &#8220;there&#8217;s no American nationalism&#8221; to Rye&#8217;s assertion that America is moving in the direction of implementing the same &#8220;death camps&#8221; that Nazi Germany used and Rye&#8217;s false claim that the crisis on the southern border was happening because &#8220;white people are losing their power in this country.&#8221;

CUOMO: Steve Cortes, with the new definition from her, I say Concentration Camps because that&#8217;s how they are defined internationally. That&#8217;s what these are. I am not equating with stigma of the Nazis and the Jews. Leave that part aside. Satisfied?
STEVE CORTES, CNN POLITICAL COMMENTATOR, FORMER TRUMP HISPANIC ADVISORY COUNCIL HEAD: No. Chris, that &#8211; that&#8217;s a ridiculous excuse for a couple of reasons.
First of all, we all know what the connotation of Concentration Camps is. If we went out on the street and asked a 100 random people, 99 of them would tell us &#8211; would give us an explanation or a definition that relates to Nazism.
But secondly, and even more importantly, she used the phrase &#8220;Never again,&#8221; which we know is specifically linked to the Holocaust, to the Shoah.
And by doing that, she very much demeaned the victims of the Shoah, the victims of that horrific tragedy. She also demeaned, by the way, the American soldiers that smashed the evil perpetrators of that human tragedy.
And I would also add this. She also demeans the current American citizens, many of whom are Hispanic, who do the very hard and dangerous work of guarding our Borders. She equated them by association to Nazi SS guards. And that is disgraceful.
AOC should apologize, at the least, and probably resign.
CUOMO: One point of pushback before I get to you, Angela. You did not have similar problems with the phrase &#8220;America First,&#8221; which is equally stained, or the word &#8220;Nationalist&#8221;&#8211;
CORTES: No.
CUOMO: &#8211;which is equally stained. No. Yes, as a matter of fact.
CORTES: No, it isn&#8217;t.
CUOMO: But why doesn&#8217;t it bother you the same way?
CORTES: You and I have had this discussion many times about nationalism. I totally disagree that it&#8217;s a stained word. As a matter of fact, I think it&#8217;s a proud word.
CUOMO: You may. But you are wrong.
CORTES: American &#8211; well no, I&#8217;m not wrong. You &#8211; you don&#8217;t get to define what nationalism means for me.
CUOMO: Yes, I do.
CORTES: And American nationalism&#8211;
CUOMO: Because nationalism has been used&#8211;

CUOMO: &#8211;let me know what movement defined itself as nationalism that was positive and not oppressive to another?

CUOMO: There&#8217;s no American nationalism.
CORTES: &#8211;that landed on the shores &#8211; yes, yes, there is American &#8211; look, American nationalism, unlike Ethno-Fascism, you&#8217;re trying to conflate these terms. Ethno-Fascism is what the Nazis portrayed, and it was about race, and blood, and purity. American nationalism has nothing to do with race.
CUOMO: There&#8217;s no such thing.
CORTES: Nothing to do with blood. It&#8217;s not blood and soil.
CUOMO: All right, look&#8211;
CORTES: It&#8217;s about our shared ideals.
CUOMO: I was giving you a change about equivalency.
CORTES: Our Constitution, our flag, our beliefs.
CUOMO: I know what you want it to be. It&#8217;s called patriotism.
But Angela, to you, on this now, it is a loaded term.
RYE: Sure.
CUOMO: And was it the right one to use?
RYE: So, what I think is most important, Chris, is we do so often in these great debates is I think it&#8217;s critical that we define it. I am a kid who as a &#8211; as a point of privilege, I had a set of encyclopedias. They were orange, encyclopedias that I loved to read.
And so, I pulled the encyclopedia definition for Concentration Camps, and I would like to share them with your viewer. &#8220;Internment Center for political prisoners and members of national or minority groups who are confined for reasons of state security, exploitation, or punishment, usually by executive decree or military order.&#8221;
And to that &#8211; to that end, they are Concentration Camps at the Border. To that end, whether we call them Concentration Camps or we call them detention, they are problematic.
To that end, when you talk about a frog being put in a boiling pot of hot water, the frog will immediately jump out. But if the frog is put in a &#8211; in a &#8211; in a pot of cold water, and you slowly turn up the heat, I&#8217;m going somewhere, it will &#8211; it will die. It will die.
And what I&#8217;m saying to you is, today, we sat through this President calling Mexicans drug dealers and rapists, at the beginning of this campaign. Today, we sat through him talking about &#8220;Build that wall,&#8221; and heard all those chants, and we went from rage &#8211; outrage to disgust, to dismay, to it&#8217;s a shame.
And I am telling you that we are irresponsible at this point that whether we call them Concentration Camps or not, her point remains. And the Right is threatened by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez because she tells the truth, whether they can digest it or not.
And our bottom line here is there is an inhumane crisis happening at the Southern Border. And it is because of how these people look. It is because of differences because there is a fear that White people are losing their power in this country. That is the bottom line. It is White fear. That is what is driving this. It is racism at its core.
CORTES: OK.
RYE: It is what this found &#8211; the foundation&#8211;
CUOMO: All right, let Steve respond.
RYE: &#8211;of this country is built upon. Period!
CORTES: That&#8217;s completely &#8211; that&#8217;s &#8211; that &#8211; that&#8217;s completely untrue. First &#8211; a couple things. First of all&#8211;
RYE: It&#8217;s not untrue.
CORTES: &#8211;even given your definition of a Concentration Camp&#8211;
RYE: That might not be your perspective.
CORTES: &#8211;even given your definition&#8211;
RYE: But do not call what I said untrue.
CORTES: &#8211;if we were placing American citizens into these camps&#8211;
RYE: It&#8217;s that Encyclopedia Britannica, Sir.
CORTES: &#8211;if &#8211; if we were placing American citizens into these camps, as we have shamefully done in the past, with Japanese American &#8211; American citizens of Japanese descent, then I would agree with you. These are not American citizens. What the Nazis did is they took German citizens&#8211;
RYE: So, you can &#8211; you can&#8211;
CORTES: &#8211;dragged them &#8211; dragged them out of their homes, stripped them of citizenship, stripped them of human dignity&#8211;
RYE: You&#8217;re going to justify this by what citizenship these people have?
CORTES: &#8211;and sent them to torture and death. What we have now I&#8217;m &#8211; what we have now are foreign citizens&#8211;
RYE: That&#8217;s sick, Steve. It&#8217;s sick.
CORTES: &#8211;who are trespassing&#8211;
RYE: It&#8217;s a new low.
CORTES: &#8211;into the United States, overwhelmingly for economic reasons, and we know that to be true, historically and presently, because the &#8211; the Director of ICE just told us, 90 percent are not showing up for their asylum hearings. They are not legitimate refugees. They&#8217;re economic migrants who have
decided on their own how that &#8211; when and how they can become American citizens, and that&#8217;s not the right way.
RYE: Let me &#8211; let me&#8211;
CORTES: And it is not about race.
RYE: Yes. So &#8211; so &#8211; so&#8211;
CORTES: My father came here the legal way. And when he became an American, he didn&#8217;t suddenly become White. He was still Hispanic. But he was an American citizen. And it is not racist. It is not xenophobic for this country to determine the processes to become a legal American citizen.
RYE: I&#8217;m sorry.
CORTES: It&#8217;s just sensible.
RYE: Let me tell you &#8211; let me tell you something.
Now, I don&#8217;t know when we decided that a humanitarian crisis could be defined whether or not someone is carrying a Green Card or whether or not someone has their papers, but I&#8217;m going to tell you this.
Before we are American, we are human beings. And it is not OK. It is a damn shame what is happening at this Border. And the fact that you&#8217;re going to justify it &#8211; justify it by economics, let me just tell you, there are a whole lot of people making a whole lot of money by having these people in detention centers.
We want to shift the attention, as &#8211; as we should, off of mass incarceration of Black and Brown people in this country, but now those monies are being transferred into detaining migrants at the Border.
It is a crisis, Steve. It is not OK just because they don&#8217;t have their papers. I hope&#8211;
CORTES: Listen, I &#8211; I &#8211; absolutely.
RYE: &#8211;that at some point, you wrestle with your conscience, and get to the right side of this because&#8211;
CORTES: I &#8211; I absolutely concur&#8211;
RYE: &#8211;Sir, you&#8217;re in the wrong side of history.
CORTES: &#8211;I concur that it&#8217;s a crisis.
RYE: In 1933, there were Concentration Camps. In 1941, they were death camps, and that is where we are going, if our &#8211; our consciences are not quickly pierced.
CORTES: Let me&#8211;
RYE: It is a problem.
CORTES: Let me tell you who agrees with me.
RYE: Do not laugh it off.
CORTES: Let me tell you who&#8211;
RYE: Do not laugh it off.
CORTES: Let me tell you who agrees with me about asylum. Barack Obama. This is what he said in 2014, and I&#8217;m quoting.
RYE: Oh, my God.
CORTES: Quote, &#8220;Refugee status is not granted&#8221;&#8211;
RYE: You guys are like the kings of red herrings.
CORTES: &#8211;&#8220;Refugee status is not granted just on economic need or because a family lives in a bad neighborhood or poverty.&#8221;
[21:40:00] CUOMO: Look, there &#8211; there &#8211; there&#8217;s no question about that.
CORTES: And that is true.
RYE: What is your point?
CORTES: Asylum status&#8211;
CUOMO: There is no question about that. The Obama administration&#8211;
CORTES: Asylum status is for people who are fleeing for their lives because they are persecuted.
CUOMO: &#8211;wrestled with the same problem, we&#8217;ve been&#8211;
RYE: What is your point?
CUOMO: Hold on a second. We&#8217;ve been wrestling with this problem for 30 years. It&#8217;s like a new parlor game. Anybody you want to go to, in any era, we&#8217;ve been fighting about these same issues.
But you&#8217;ve always wound up coming to a same crisis point, which is OK, we got to reform the rules. Congress never gets to that. There&#8217;s a million reasons why. Most of them are bad. But the urgency becomes&#8211;
RYE: All of them are bad.
CUOMO: &#8211;on how you treat the humanity. In 2014, we went nuts about what was going on with the unaccompanied minors&#8211;
RYE: Yes.
CUOMO: &#8211;during the Obama administration because it was wrong. They didn&#8217;t have the resources set up. They didn&#8217;t have the right
procedures. And these kids weren&#8217;t being treated the right way. And we said &#8220;Never again.&#8221; And now we&#8217;re right back here.
And the one thing that I think should unite you guys is you all say this is wrong, what&#8217;s happening at the Border, and not a damn thing has been done by either side to fix it.
The Left says, &#8220;We don&#8217;t trust him to spend the money the right way, and they won&#8217;t give us the right protections to take care of the kids the right way.&#8221;
RYE: It&#8217;s true. They built more detention centers.
CUOMO: And the Right says, &#8220;The Democrats don&#8217;t want to do anything.&#8221;
And the President says, &#8220;Even though I have an emergency declaration, and I can now loosen some purse strings, I only want to use it for the fence. And don&#8217;t forget, my whole sell is of being harsh on these people. I&#8217;m not going to open my heart to them all the sudden.&#8221;
And doesn&#8217;t that just really sicken you, Steve that something that you admit as wrong, and that you identify with on one level as an ethnic, is being ignored by your own party as part of this problem?
CORTES: No. Listen, I &#8211; I don&#8217;t think we&#8217;re ignoring it at all. I love legal immigration.
CUOMO: What has been done?
CORTES: And I want to &#8211;
CUOMO: What has been done to help the kids?
CORTES: And I wanted to help preserve&#8211;
CUOMO: McAleenan keeps asking for money. And you guys have not put anything forward. McConnell won&#8217;t even put it on the floor.
CORTES: Look, I&#8217;m not answering for McConnell. I don&#8217;t know why they haven&#8217;t done the legislation there.
CUOMO: The hell you&#8217;re not.
CORTES: I agree with you.
CUOMO: He&#8217;s in your party. And you&#8217;re here to defend the administration.
CORTES: I agree. I&#8217;m not &#8211; I&#8217;m not&#8211;
CUOMO: He&#8217;s part of it.
CORTES: That means I answer for him? I don&#8217;t answer for him.
And the &#8211; and the Senate should absolutely pass something because they can, because they have the votes, and I agree. And, by the way, Paul Ryan, when he was Speaker, should have done something.
And I &#8211; I will say to the GOP&#8217;s great discredit, when they controlled both Houses, they did not address immigration, and they should have. And I believe it&#8217;s one of the reasons we lost in 2018.
CUOMO: And when you guys had both Houses&#8211;
CORTES: It&#8217;s not because of the Democrats.
CUOMO: &#8211;you didn&#8217;t do a damn thing about either, except put all your money behind a fence that doesn&#8217;t&#8211;
CORTES: That&#8217;s &#8211; I just said much to&#8211;
CUOMO: &#8211;help with the current problem.
CORTES: &#8211;I just said much &#8211; much to their discredit. But here&#8217;s the thing. What AOC &#8211; let&#8217;s get back to AOC where we started. The fact that she&#8217;s trying to equate us with Nazis&#8211;
RYE: Oh, now you want to get back to the topic!
CORTES: &#8211;because we believe in Border control, if her logic holds, then Barack Obama, who deported more people than all other U.S. presidents combined&#8211;
CUOMO: Remember that.
CORTES: &#8211;by her logic, then Barack Obama is a Nazi.
CUOMO: Remember that.
CORTES: However, we don&#8217;t seem to hear that.
CUOMO: Next time the President says that he&#8217;s gotten rid of more people than anybody&#8211;

CUOMO: &#8211;remember that the opposite is true.
RYE: &#8211;where you end up.
CUOMO: Remember when it comes to enforcing the law, Steve, that this President&#8217;s nowhere clear to being close to the last administration. What he&#8217;s done is encouraged a flow that we see right now.
I got to leave it there, Angela Rye, Steve Cortes. Just both of you go home with this. Neither side has fixed a problem that everybody acknowledges is happening. We got to do better than this.

Steve Cortes Blasts CNN&#8217;s Cuomo, Rye Over Insane Concentration Camp Remarks

On Tuesday night, speaking with fellow CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, CNN anchor Don Lemon went on a rant in which he compared President Trump to Adolf Hitler and argued that the media should not give Trump a platform for his &#8220;propaganda and lies.&#8221;
Lemon stated:

I also think there&#8217;s a lesson in there for all of us. If you are a Trump supporter do you continue to fall for the okey-doke? Do you continue to use as an excuse that everyone is out to get him and everyone else is wrong and he&#8217;s always right and that you&#8217;re right and there is no compromise on that side? If you&#8217;re in the news media, in the jobs that we are, do we continue to allow space for propaganda and lies that we have to go back and correct? And it&#8217;s futile when you have to go back and correct it because the lie is already out there, the damage has already been done.
Have we learned from that in 2016 or will we continue to do the same thing? And if you&#8217;re a person who doesn&#8217;t support this president, are you going to understand, do you understand what it is that you didn&#8217;t pay attention to in 2016? That you didn&#8217;t go to the polls and vote, if you thought that elections don&#8217;t have consequences, if you thought that hey, you know, this person is speaking the truth, or they&#8217;re not going to do everything that they said. You&#8217;re right; this is going to be the pivotal election, I think there is &#8212; I hate this, &#8220;This is going to be a teachable moment&#8221; &#8212; but I think there is some learning for every single person, regardless of what side you&#8217;re on and what profession.

Cuomo commented, &#8220;I think you&#8217;re going to see correction and I think you&#8217;re going to see overcorrection. We see that in most social movements, that when there&#8217;s an appetite for change often you go too far in that direction. The idea of what you have on TV; you go too far and you start censoring what you have on TV because you don&#8217;t like the ideas, because you think all of it is a lie. Very rarely is anybody all a lie, even this president. Does he lie a lot? Yes.&#8221;
Lemon interrupted, &#8220;Most of the time.&#8221;
Cuomo said, &#8220;More than anything I&#8217;ve ever seen.&#8221;
Lemon reiterated, &#8220;Most of the time.&#8221;
Cuomo added, &#8220;But not everything he says is a lie.&#8221;
Lemon then went off the rails, &#8220;But think about the despicable people we&#8217;ve had in history. Now I&#8217;m going to use an extreme example. Think about Hitler. Think about any of those people. Would you say that that person is allowed&#8212;let&#8217;s put it this way&#8212;if you could look back on in history would you say well, I&#8217;m so glad that that person was allowed a platform so that they could spread their hate and propaganda and lies? Or would you say it probably wasn&#8217;t the right thing to do to spread that because you knew in the moment that that was a bad person. And they were doing bad things. Not only were they hurting people. They were killing people. And so I just think &#8212;&#8221;
Cuomo answered, &#8220;I think that the example matters. That&#8217;s a very extreme example. Rhetoric that you don&#8217;t like, could that be a slippery slope toward violence? Maybe, maybe not. &#8220;

WATCH: CNN&#8217;s Don Lemon Compares Trump To Hitler, Suggests Media Deny Him A ‘Platform’

CNN&#8217;s Chris Cuomo was on the receiving end of blistering criticism on Wednesday after an ambiguous comment he made on Twitter toward a rape victim.
Cuomo&#8217;s tweet was aimed at Kim Corban, who was raped in 2006 when she was 20 years old after a man broke into her apartment and sexually assaulted her for approximately two hours. In a 2016 <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/01/08/meet-kimberly-corban-the-pro-gun-rape-survivor-who-challenged-obama-on-cnn">report</a>, The Washington Post noted how Corban has &#8220;struggled with depression, PTSD and stress-related seizures&#8221; as a result of the attack.
Corban appeared in an ad video for the National Rifle Association (NRA) where she discussed the importance of owning firearms.
&#8220;I&#8217;m a mother of two, and if a predator or anyone else tries to harm me or my family, they have to come through my firearm first,&#8221; Corban said.
Shortly after the video came out, Cuomo tweeted: &#8220;Only in America.&#8221;

CNN&#8217;s Chris Cuomo Directs Ambiguous Tweet At Rape Survivor. Here&#8217;s Her Response.

CNN&#8217;s Chris Cuomo argued on Monday night that the violence-embracing far-left group Antifa was &#8220;a good cause,&#8221; and was immediately met by pushback from the two contributors who he had on for the segment.
&#8220;You can talk about Antifa, I&#8217;ve watched them in streets protesting in different situations, OK?&#8221; Cuomo said. &#8220;There are certainly aspects of them that are true to a cause, that is a good cause, they want social justice, they want whatever they want in that context.&#8221;
&#8220;Not Antifa,&#8221; CNN&#8217;s Rob Astorino responded. &#8220;Antifa&#8217;s [inaudible].&#8221;
&#8220;Chris, Antifa is not a good cause,&#8221; CNN&#8217;s Steve Cortes fired back. &#8220;Antifa does not have good aims, Antifa wants power, wants political power, taken through force. That&#8217;s what Antifa is all about.&#8221;

This is not the first time that Cuomo has defended the violent far-left group; he also did so in August 2018.
&#8220;Two wrongs and what is right,&#8221; <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2018/08/14/cnn_chris_cuomo_defends_antifa_attacks_on_police_journalists_not_equal_to_fighting_bigots.html">said</a> last year. &#8220;It&#8217;s been one year since Heather Heyer was killed for standing up to hate, and our thoughts still go to her family.&#8221;
&#8220;Peppered in the crowd were members of Antifa, or anti-fascists,&#8221; Cuomo continued. &#8220;They covered their faces, confronted police and berated journalists and that was wrong. Now, you&#8217;ve been hearing it. There&#8217;s a lot of what-aboutism and spin going on. And it&#8217;s kind of sickening to me. So, let&#8217;s all agree on some common understandings. A protester uses their voice, song, slang, slurs, there&#8217;s a huge range, but it is talk.&#8221;
&#8220;But I argue to you tonight, all punches are not equal morally. In the eyes of the law, yes,&#8221; Cuomo said. &#8220;But in the eyes of good and evil, here&#8217;s the argument: if you&#8217;re a punk that comes to start trouble in a mask and hurt people, you&#8217;re not about any virtuous cause. You&#8217;re just somebody who&#8217;s going to be held to the standard of doing something wrong.&#8221;
&#8220;But when someone comes to call out bigots and it gets hot, even physical, are they equally wrong as the bigot they are fighting? I argue, no. Fighting against hate matters,&#8221; Cuomo continued. &#8220;Now, how you fight matters too. There&#8217;s no question about that. But drawing a moral equivalency between those espousing hate and those fighting it because they both resort to violence emboldens hate, legitimizes hateful belief and elevates what should be stamped out.&#8221;
&#8220;But fighting hate is right. And in a clash between hate and those who oppose it, those who oppose it are on the side of right. Think about: civil rights activist, were they the same morally as the bigots, as the racist with whom they exchanged blows,&#8221; Cuomo stated. &#8220;Are people who go to war against an evil regime on the same moral ground as those they seek to stop from oppressing the weak?&#8221;
&#8220;That&#8217;s why people who show up to fight against bigots are not to be judged the same as the bigots, even if they do resort to the same petty violence. The law will take care of that,&#8221; Cuomo concluded. &#8220;How you disagree matters. We should be our best. But I am arguing that Trump was wrong to create a moral equivalency between bigots and those who oppose them, making them equal wrongs.&#8221;

CNN&#8217;s Chris Cuomo: Antifa Is &#8216;A Good Cause&#8217;

On Wednesday, acclaimed journalist and former CBS correspondent Lara Logan appeared on Fox News&#8217; &#8220;Hannity&#8221; and blasted CNN for its nakedly partisan viewpoint, calling out CNN hosts Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon by asserting, &#8220;But I really want to know is, Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo, are they opinion hosts? Are these opinion shows or are these news programs?&#8221;
Hannity, noting the hard turn to the left taken by members of the Democratic Party while some media figures, including MSNBC&#8217;s Chris Matthews and CNN&#8217;s Don Lemon, have expressed seeming concern that the Democrats might veer so far that they would lose the 2020 election, began by saying, &#8220;We&#8217;ve lived through this before; it was called Barack Obamamania. The only difference now is that they&#8217;re pushing even harder to the Left. I don&#8217;t think you can stop that, do you?&#8221;
Logan focused not on the veer to the left by the Democratic Party, but instead the media figures who seemed clearly sympathetic toward the Democratic Party:

You know, Sean, I&#8217;m not a politician and I&#8217;m not a political reporter. I don&#8217;t know whether you can stop it or not. My concern as a journalist is trying to figure out what the facts are and trying to figure out what people are actually representing and what they are actually trying to do in the election. As journalists, it seems to me, you know, our job is to do that. That&#8217;s our duty. But I really want to know is, Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo, are they opinion hosts? Are these opinion shows or are these news programs? Because that is an important distinction. And what people tell me, American people, everywhere I go in this country, that is what they want to know. When they turn on the news, they want the facts. When they turn on an opinion show like yours, they want your opinion, right? So where do these people stand? Where does CNN stand?

Hannity acknowledged that his show sometimes covered hard news, other times did investigative work, and even covered sports and cultural issues, adding, &#8220;We&#8217;re like the whole newspaper. That&#8217;s my role in the press.&#8221;
Joe Concha, media reporter for The Hill, commented, &#8220;I can answer Lara Logan&#8217;s&#8217;s question, and that is on the CNN website, Cuomo and lemon are listed as anchors, and clearly they&#8217;re giving opinions. You just showed one.&#8221;
Hannity said to Logan, &#8220;You were on 60 Minutes. I don&#8217;t see that any more; I don&#8217;t even see 60 Minutes as fair &#8217;cause they take you for 15 hours and chop it down to 15 minutes. It&#8217;s called &#8216;edited fake news.&#8217;&#8221;
Logan laughed, &#8220;Well, that happens, Sean, to everyone, I have to say, and Joe, that &#8216;anchor&#8217; doesn&#8217;t answer my question, because as an organization, where does CNN stand? Have you taken a political position or have you not? The problem with what has been happening within the media, as far as I&#8217;m concerned, is that we claim the middle ground, we claim to be objective and we&#8217;re not. And that&#8217;s dishonest.&#8221;
In late February, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/43756/cbs-lara-logan-calls-out-liberal-media-attackers-amanda-prestigiacomo">The Daily Wire</a> reported that after having blasted many leftist journalists to &#8220;activists&#8221; and &#8220;propagandists,&#8221; Logan ripped members of the media on &#8220;Hannity,&#8221; saying CNN&#8217;s Brian Stelter, The Huffington Post&#8217;s Michael Calderon, and Joe Hagan from Vanity Fair had targeted her for daring to report accurately and drop leftist talking points. She stated:

Michael Calderon, who was at The Huffington Post. I can literally give you the script now. I can tell you who the players are: Joe Hagan, Brian Stelter. I mean, it&#8217;s the same people all the time and they&#8217;re all saying the same things.

She added, &#8220;You know what is interesting, Sean? They cannot take down the substance of what you&#8217;re saying, right? They cannot go after the things that matter. So they smear you personally. They go after your integrity. They go after your reputation as a person and a professional. They will stop at nothing. I am not the only one.&#8221;

Don Lemon feels that CNN lowered itself by bringing White House advisor Kellyanne Conway on to defend the president.
On Thursday, as Chris Cuomo passed the baton over to Lemon for the next show, the two CNN hosts got into a bizarre exchange about the merits of having Kellyanne Conway appear on the network, reports <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/don-lemon-chris-cuomo-kellyanne-conway_n_5c8b4f5de4b03e83bdbf4c39">HuffPost</a>.
&#8220;She never answers a question. She berates you. She&#8217;s condescending,&#8221; Lemon told Cuomo. &#8220;For me, it feels beneath the dignity of this network to have someone one who constantly lies and misconstrues things.&#8221;
According to <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/chris-cuomo-kellyanne-conway-violence_n_5c8b1327e4b0db7da9f16761">HuffPost</a>, Kellyanne Conway appeared on Cuomo&#8217;s show earlier to discuss comments President Trump made in an interview with Breitbart during which he said his supporters were &#8220;tough people&#8221; that would make things &#8220;very, very bad&#8221; if pushed to a certain point. Cuomo accused the president of dogwhistling violence; Conway said he was misinterpreting.
&#8220;You&#8217;re just reading into it like you usually do. He was talking about how peaceful and gentle many people are who are otherwise tough,&#8221; she told Cuomo before going on to interrupt him. &#8220;Christopher, he didn&#8217;t threaten and he&#8217;s not threatening violence.&#8221;
Cuomo replied, &#8220;I made a mistake, so I surrender. You will never &#8213; you will never call him out for whatever he says or whatever he does. You are choosing pragmatism over principle, and I should know this.&#8221;
Don Lemon later told Chris Cuomo that Kellyanne Conway should not have been permitted to speak on the show because she was being dishonest to the American people. &#8220;When you come on CNN, you have an obligation to be honest to the American people,&#8221; Lemon said. &#8220;You can give your opinion, you can give your take, but it is a privilege to come on this network and speak to the American people &#8213; and if you&#8217;re going to do it, do it directly and honestly.&#8221;
Keep in mind, Lemon said this on the very same week that CNN <a href="https://www.thewrap.com/cnn-slapped-with-275-million-defamation-suit-by-covington-student-nicholas-sandmann/">was slapped with a $275 million defamation lawsuit</a> for their role in perpetuating the slander against the Covington Catholic High School students, during which <a href="https://twitter.com/rezaaslan/status/1086806539552284672?lang=en">CNN contributor Reza Aslan said</a> that Nicholas Sandmann (a minor) had a &#8220;punchable&#8221; face.
Cuomo ultimately felt that Kellyanne Conway should be allowed to speak on his show, arguing that the American people deserve to see what the president considers his &#8220;best defense.&#8221;
&#8220;I just believe that if this is who the president wants out there, I want people to see what he considers his best defense,&#8221; Cuomo said. &#8220;I want them to see what he thinks is appropriate for his main counselor to do on television. That&#8217;s the saving grace.&#8221;

When news broke about the college admissions bribery scandal involving actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/44609/cnns-don-lemon-college-bribery-scandal-affirms-paul-bois">admitted</a> that the event confirmed Trump supporters&#8217; anger about a &#8220;rigged system.&#8221;
&#8220;For far too many people, the American dream is rigged,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And he spoke to that. Maybe he&#8217;s questionable as the messenger for this, but it&#8217;s a message a lot of people feel in their core. Rigged in favor of the wealthy and the powerful. And a whole lot of people in this country on the left and on the right are angry about that.&#8221;
