Disgraced CNN host <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/chris-cuomo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chris Cuomo</a> admitted he wanted &#8220;to kill everybody&#8221; including himself after he was fired following revelations he helped his brother then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo navigate several sexual harassment allegations.
During the former anchor&#8217;s appearance on Wednesday on Anthony Scaramucci&#8217;s <a href="https://twitter.com/Scaramucci/status/1625843535017549826?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">podcast</a> &#8220;<a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-chris-cuomo-of-it-all-firing-family-and-future/id1663394459?i=1000599726235" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Open Book</a>,&#8221; Cuomo admitted he&#8217;s flawed and sought therapy after he was &#8220;s*** canned&#8221; by the network.
&#8220;I had to accept [my firing] because I was going to kill everybody, including myself,&#8221; the 52-year-old former CNN broadcaster shared, the <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/02/15/i-was-going-to-kill-everybody-and-myself-chris-cuomo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a> noted.

&#8220;Things can consume you,&#8221; Cuomo continued. &#8220;Italians are so passionate. And I really had to fight against that because &#8230; I got too many people counting on me.&#8221;
The former host said he&#8217;s made &#8220;a lot of mistakes&#8221; and revealed he&#8217;s gotten therapy to deal with the fallout from no longer being the number 1 guy on CNN.
&#8220;There is damage that is relatable, there is damage that is unrelatable to people that I have to deal with, that I am working on,&#8221; Cuomo <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/chris-cuomo-going-to-kill-everybody-and-myself-firing-2023-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shared</a>.
&#8220;At CNN, I wasn&#8217;t set up to be [No. 1],&#8221; Cuomo said. &#8220;I wasn&#8217;t the big name there, I didn&#8217;t have the big team, they didn&#8217;t do the advertising about me. But I was still No. 1.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;ll never be that again,&#8221; he added. &#8220;That was taken from me, I believe wrongly. I&#8217;ll litigate that. I&#8217;m not going to b**** about that it in the press.&#8221;
In December 2021, Cuomo was fired from the network. In March, 2022 the former CNN host filed a $125 million lawsuit against the network after his job was terminated. He demanded $15 million in lost salary and $110 million in further damages, as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chris-cuomo-demands-125-million-from-cnn-cuomos-journalistic-integrity-unjustifiably-smeared" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire</a> previously reported. The case is ongoing, the New York Post noted.
In July 2022, Cuomo announced that he&#8217;d been hired on by NewsNation and promised he would &#8220;try very hard to be  fair,&#8221; as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disgraced-host-chris-cuomo-announces-his-new-news-job-im-going-to-try-very-hard-to-be-fair" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
&#8220;I&#8217;m going to do the job,&#8221; Cuomo said. &#8220;I&#8217;m going to go where the news is, and I&#8217;m going to try very hard to be fair. And I want to do it here. I want to make a difference. And I&#8217;m really hoping that it makes a difference for you [the viewer]. And I thank NewsNation very much for the opportunity.&#8221;

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cnn">CNN</a> CEO Chris Licht claims in a new interview this week that one of the reasons that change has been slow to come to the left-wing network is because he can&#8217;t upset the company&#8217;s &#8220;core audience.&#8221;
Licht <a href="https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/business/story/2023-01-30/chris-licht-wants-cnn-to-be-news-on-cable-not-cable-news?dg">told</a> The Los Angeles Times that he deleted his Twitter account because he is &#8220;very focused&#8221; on trying to restore the company and trust in the brand.
&#8220;What we are doing is fundamentally reformatting the network. And it’ll take some time for that to get into a rhythm, and then it’ll take time to market it. And so it will take some time to grow again,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The people I work for understand that we didn’t get here overnight and we’re not going to get out of it overnight.&#8221;
Licht said that he is meeting with &#8220;culturally relevant individuals from the worlds of entertainment, sports and comedy who can bring fresh and unique perspectives to the news&#8221; as the network looks to revamp its prime time lineup after it fired Chris Cuomo and moved Don Lemon to its morning lineup.
&#8220;I’m casting a wide net to help broaden the appeal of our prime time,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But at the same time, I can’t offend our core audience of news junkies. I would never do anything that would hurt the brand and reputation that we’re working so hard to restore.&#8221;
Licht said that the company has official market research that shows that its brand has been damaged because people do not trust it anymore.
The 51-year-old claimed that he has tried to extend an olive branch to Republicans to come on to the network after years of Republicans believing that they would &#8220;not get a fair shake&#8221; if they came on.
&#8220;We won’t invite you on to score points on you,&#8221; he claimed. &#8220;Come on and have an honest and open discussion about what your vision is for the future of this country, and be prepared to answer respectful, tough questions about that.&#8221;
&#8220;I spoke to the same number of Democrats and Republicans when I went up there at every level of leadership and basically said that same message. Because it was also: &#8216;Democrats, don’t come on and expect that you’re just going to get a rubber stamp,'&#8221; he added. &#8220;We’re going to ask questions that help illuminate whatever we’re talking about for the audience. And it all feeds into the broader strategy of trying not to be cable news. We’re trying to be news on cable. And the difference is cable news is, you would invite people on to have a food fight and that was entertaining. But I think that doesn’t serve society as a whole.&#8221;

Throughout the music video, Pool uses headlines about everything from the pandemic lockdowns to inflation in order to mock the press’ reports that harmful things are actually good.
Some of these hilarious examples include messages that read, &#8220;Lockdowns are for your own good,&#8221; &#8220;Big Pharma has your back,&#8221; &#8220;$8 gas is a small price to pay for a clean conscience,&#8221; &#8220;Five ways nuclear war benefits you,&#8221; and &#8220;Fiery but mostly peaceful drone strike.&#8221;
At the conclusion of the video, a &#8220;reporter&#8221; seemingly appearing in a foreign country is actually just standing in front of a green screen — another obvious dig at the corporate media.
&#8220;Our goal was to highlight just how important the national media is in rallying support for foreign intervention and safety lockdowns,&#8221; Pool joked. &#8220;If it wasn&#8217;t for these great heroes of national media, we would have never liberated Iraq and Afghanistan and untold millions could have died without support for strict lockdowns.&#8221;
&#8220;Libya today is a shining example of the great work our national media does to ensure peace and prosperity around the world,&#8221; he added sarcastically. &#8220;If the fascists had their way, people would have visited their loved ones as they were dying in hospitals making the pandemic much, much worse.&#8221;

The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dan-rather-panics-after-cnn-continues-to-fire-far-left-employees-gets-slammed-online" target="_blank" rel="noopener">purge at CNN</a> continued Thursday, as the network announced leftist Don Lemon will be squeezed out of prime time and moved into a morning co-anchor role.
The eight-year run of “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/don-lemon" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Don Lemon Tonight</a>” will end as new president Chris Licht continues to follow through on his pledge to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnns-new-boss-cleans-house-to-return-far-left-network-to-straight-news-roots" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tone down the network’s far-Left slant</a>. Lemon’s new gig will be co-hosting the revamped morning show with Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins.
“There is no stronger combination of talent than Don, Poppy and Kaitlan to deliver on our promise of a game-changing morning news program,” Licht said in a statement.

CNN did not say how it would program the 10 p.m. ET hour after making the switch, nor did it say what is next for current morning show hosts John Berman and Brianna Keilar.
Lemon, whose show garnered a fraction of the audience of Fox News Channel’s “Ingraham Angle,” has long been one of the liberal network’s most far-Left voices.
“The last eight years have been an incredible ride,” Lemon said in a statement. “I’ve had the opportunity to work with one of the best show teams in the business, but it’s time to shake things up.”
Chris Cuomo, who previously hosted the lead-in to Lemon’s ratings-challenged program, was fired last December after word got out he had helped with the sexual harassment defense of his brother and frequent guest, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Licht announced in May that CNN would revamp “New Day,” the morning show which has long trailed Fox News Channel’s “Fox &amp; Friends” and MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” But he is also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-might-dump-overtly-partisan-talent-report">seeking to pivot</a> from far-Left, editorializing programs to a more straight news approach. The change was reportedly pushed by parent company Warner Bros. Discovery’s chief shareholder <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-would-like-to-see-cnn-evolve-back-to-doing-news-actually-have-journalists-incoming-top-shareholder">John Malone</a>.
“I want to acknowledge that this is a time of significant change, and I know that many of you are unsettled,” Licht reportedly told staffers on an editorial staff call three weeks ago. “There will be more changes, and you might not understand it or like it.”
“Reliable Sources” host <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/brian-stelter">Brian Stelter</a> was fired last month and earlier this month, longtime, highly partisan correspondent <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-white-house-correspondent-john-harwood-out-at-network">John Harwood was let go</a>. Legal analyst <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/quitting-to-spend-more-time-with-himself-conservatives-erupt-after-jeffrey-toobin-announces-departure-from-cnn" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jeffrey Toobin was also let go</a> earlier this year, but that may have been because of his infamous pandemic Zoom call in which he masturbated in front of co-workers.

When CNN’s parent company, Warner Media, merged with Discovery last November, John Malone, the libertarian billionaire who holds a controlling interest in the conglomerate, wasted no time making it clear there was a new sheriff in town. His first order of business—reforming the left-wing practices that have tarnished the news network’s brand and led to <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/journalism/2020/01/24/in-recent-years-partisan-media-divides-have-grown-largely-driven-by-republican-distrust/">58 percent</a> of Republicans saying they no longer trust the outlet as a news source. Where better to start than at the top?
While conventional wisdom holds that CNN’s former chief, Jeff Zucker, was ousted over a sexual harassment scandal involving star anchor Chris Cuomo, insiders say the incident may have simply been a pretext. Cuomo’s foibles, combined with Zucker’s own affair with his chief marketing officer, gave Malone an easy opening to do what he knew would be necessary in order to return the network to its straight-news roots.
“I would like to see CNN evolve back to the kind of journalism that it started with, and actually have journalists, which would be unique and refreshing,” Malone, one of the original pioneers of cable TV, told <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2021/11/18/john-malone-says-warnermedia-discovery-getting-rid-of-cnn-would-be-the-cowards-way-out.html">CNBC</a>. “I do believe good journalism could have a role in this future portfolio that Discovery-TimeWarner’s going to represent.”
While not nearly as well-known as his sometime “frenemy” Rupert Murdoch, the 80-year-old Malone has a reputation for fierce business acumen that industry-watchers say has not dulled with age. <a href="https://variety.com/vip/john-malones-cnn-miscalculation-1235180460/">Variety</a>, for instance, recently referred to him as a “mogul’s mogul” who’s no stranger to playing “multi-level chess while the rest of the industry [is playing] checkers.”
And like any successful player, Malone hasn’t been afraid to use the pieces on the board aggressively.
Conservatives had openly wondered how transformational a force Zucker’s replacement, Chris Licht, was likely to be at CNN, given his past as an executive producer for Stephen Colbert. Going by the ouster of first Zucker and then “Reliable Sources” host Brian Stelter, it looks like Malone instincts were right.
Immediately after taking over as CEO, Licht began evaluating anchors and reporters, as well as behind-the-scenes staff, in view of how much political bias shows up in programming. As <a href="https://www.axios.com/2022/06/07/cnn-evaluating-partisan-talent-chris-licht">Axios</a> reported, for on-air talent, that has included treating interviewees respectfully, even if they’re conservatives, so as to avoid accusations of “PR stunts.” For on-air hosts and anchors, it has meant tamping down on editorializing. Regular viewers will note that morning anchor Brianna Keilar’s frequent criticism of competitor Fox News, for example, has all but vanished.
For producers and bookers, the regime change has meant segments that delve into nuance and complexity rather than trying to produce viral moments. It has also meant a directive to stop running “breaking news” chyrons over every other story. “[The breaking news banner] has become such a fixture on every channel and network that its impact has become lost on the audience,” Licht said in a note obtained by <a href="https://deadline.com/2022/06/cnn-breaking-news-chris-licht-1235037246/">Deadline</a>. “We are truth-tellers, focused on informing, not alarming our viewers.”
Those initial steps accomplished, Licht began letting the rank and file know that incendiary language like using the phrase “the big lie” to describe President Trump’s claims he won the 2020 election, would no longer be tolerated. <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/tv/scoop-new-cnn-boss-chris-licht-wants-staff-to-stop-calling-it-the-big-lie/">Mediaite</a> said sources told them that Licht said on a conference call with management that such terminology mirrors Democratic Party branding and talking points too closely, making it harder for viewers to trust that CNN’s reporting is objective.
Of course, the big question was whether the CNN personalities that had become identified with left wing activism would still have a place at a network trumpeting its commitment to return to serious, measured news. We now know that in one prominent case, the answer is no.
“Reliable Sources” host Brian Stelter had long been viewed as one of the key drivers of the overtly partisan shift that took place at CNN during the Trump presidency. He didn’t help his case that he could adapt to the network&#8217;s new mission when he sounded off about Malone’s views about CNN back in February before Zucker’s ouster. “The people who say the Zucker-era CNN was lacking in real journalism clearly were not watching CNN directly,&#8221; Stelter wrote in his <a href="https://view.newsletters.cnn.com/messages/1644209198071bb997b05542c/raw?utm_term=1644209198071bb997b05542c&amp;utm_source=cnn_Reliable+Sources+-+February+6%2C+2022&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;bt_ee=odX068KwXq6PCb%2BQ3p%2FMV0ulTnQCTVvtDMo1%2BJVvXNtbBO%2Fbn4X%2FXQJaN08QMkEJ&amp;bt_ts=1644209198085">newsletter</a>. &#8220;My best guess is that they were watching talking heads and reading columnists complain about CNN. And yes, I&#8217;m including John Malone in this.”
Stelter then added, “That phrasing – especially the words ‘actually have journalists,’ which implied CNN currently doesn&#8217;t – was highly offensive to many staffers. I reported on Sunday&#8217;s ‘Reliable’ that it was disturbing to Zucker, too. Malone&#8217;s comments stoked fears that Discovery might stifle CNN journalists and steer away from calling out indecency and injustice.&#8221;
So it’s hardly surprising Licht decided CNN shouldn’t “stifle” Stelter any longer.
Stelter’s misery may soon have company though. Rumors are flying that CNN’s morning programming will also soon be receiving an overhaul and Jim Acosta, the reporter who made his name with rude antics during the Trump administration’s White House briefings, could soon join Stelter on the unemployment line.
Insiders say that no one’s job is safe right now and Licht is in the middle of an evaluation of the entire organization, including talent and executives. “He’s determined to tamp down spectacle and has discouraged the presentation of content in an alarmist fashion,” a source told <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/new-cnn-boss-christ-licht-determined-tamp-down-spectacle-evaluates-who-should-stick-around">Fox News</a>.
The message seems to be getting through as formerly openly leftist anchors at CNN are suddenly playing it straight.
In June, regular Don Lemon viewers were shocked when he pressed White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre for answers about President Biden’s health and mental fitness, asking if he had the “stamina” to run for office again.
The spokeswoman seemed surprised to receive such a question from a previously friendly source and struggled to provide an answer, saying, “That is not a question that we should be even asking,”
Lemon later defended his sudden shift into the kind of traditional, adversarial questions reporters used to ask White House press secretaries. &#8220;I&#8217;m sure [Biden] is up to the job,” he said in defense of his question, “but it is my job as a journalist to ask.&#8221;

Jones joined Fox News&#8217; midday panel show &#8220;Outnumbered&#8221; on Wednesday, and the topic turned to Baldwin and his recent interview with exiled CNN anchor <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/i-will-never-regret-helping-my-family-defiant-chris-cuomo-launches-podcast-in-the-wake-of-cnn-exile/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chris Cuomo</a> — during which he suggested that the media was somehow to blame for the questions that continued to swirl about the shooting and the investigation that followed.

Cohost Harris Faulkner introduced the topic, referencing Baldwin&#8217;s interview with ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos and his claims that he had not pulled the trigger.
&#8220;I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger at them, never,&#8221; Baldwin said at the time. &#8220;Someone is responsible for what happened, and I can&#8217;t say who that is, but I know it&#8217;s not me.&#8221;
Faulkner then noted that the FBI had determined it was not possible for that gun to have been fired without someone pulling the trigger. Despite that finding, Baldwin spoke to Cuomo about the incident and blamed the media, arguing that the people talking the loudest about how he must have been at fault were people who had not been on the set at the time.
&#8220;The people that are talking loudest about what happened or speculating about what happened were not on the set of the film. The L.A. Times, The Hollywood Reporter. They talk on and on and on about &#8216;what if this&#8217; and &#8216;what if that&#8217; &#8230; The thing that they have in common is that nobody was there,&#8221; he told Cuomo.
&#8220;The way he is handling this is just absolutely disgusting,&#8221; Jones said then. &#8220;Number one, if he never pulled the trigger, he&#8217;d be saying that from the moment it happened, you&#8217;d think, it was six weeks later when he came up with that idea to avoid or circumvent responsibility.&#8221;
&#8220;I don’t think he is a cold-blooded murder, but he did something irresponsible and somebody died from it,&#8221; Jones continued. &#8220;Whatever the law says those consequences are, he needs to be held to it.&#8221;

Former ABC News executive producer Shelley Ross slammed a small cable news channel this week for hiring disgraced former <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cnn">CNN</a> host <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/chris-cuomo">Chris Cuomo</a>, calling Cuomo the &#8220;same old arrogant, misogynistic proud member of the old boy&#8217;s club.&#8221;
Ross, who later became an executive producer at CBS News, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chris-cuomos-former-producer-accuses-him-of-sexual-harassment-lowering-one-hand-to-firmly-grab-and-squeeze-the-cheek-of-my-buttock">said</a> that at a going-away party in 2005, Cuomo approached her &#8220;and greeted me with a strong bear hug while lowering one hand to firmly grab and squeeze the cheek of my buttock.&#8221;
&#8220;&#8216;I can do this now that you’re no longer my boss,&#8217; he said to me with a kind of cocky arrogance,&#8221; Ross wrote in a New York Times op-ed. “‘No you can’t,&#8217; I said, pushing him off me at the chest while stepping back, revealing my husband, who had seen the entire episode at close range. We quickly left.&#8221;
Ross responded to a post online by NewsNation host Dan Abrams in which Abrams defended his network&#8217;s decision to hire Cuomo to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-disgraced-former-cnn-host-chris-cuomo-gets-hired-by-news-network">host</a> a new primetime show on the channel this fall.
&#8220;Dan, I&#8217;m a decades-long fan of yours,&#8221; Ross wrote. &#8220;But you&#8217;ve got this one wrong. The (modest) mixed reaction to Cuomo&#8217;s new job does not prove the status quo of the media is under threat. Cuomo IS the status quo, same old same old arrogant, misogynistic proud member of the old boy&#8217;s club. No one cares what News Nation [sic] ratings are. I am rooting for something new, fresh and honest. Just maybe some of us don&#8217;t see Cuomo as that answer &#8230; those who have been disappointed in his lack of genuine contrition. Disgraced former <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cnn">CNN</a> host <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/chris-cuomo">Chris Cuomo</a> claimed during an interview that aired Friday night that CNN was not an opinion network, and he then proceeded to blame those who watch cable news for the toxicity of cable news.
Cuomo, 51, <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/07/30/chris-cuomo-says-he-lost-a-sense-of-purpose-after-cnn-firing/">told</a> Bill Maher on HBO&#8217;s &#8220;Real Time with Bill Maher&#8221; that he felt like he lost &#8220;a sense of purpose&#8221; after getting fired from CNN last year as the far-left network investigated his involvement in helping his brother, then-New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo, navigate a sexual misconduct scandal.
“This is my brother, obviously I’m not objective. Obviously, I’m going to help him,” Cuomo told Maher. “This has been hard, and you learn a lot about the people in your life when you watch them struggle. It’s true, when you struggle, you learn who your friends are. I’ve always known who my friends are; I’ve had them for a very long time. But he has been in a struggle, and I have watched it.”
Maher later brought up how CNN made a shift to being more opinion-based across the board during the Trump presidency, to which Cuomo responded by claiming that it was not &#8220;a move to opinion.&#8221;
&#8220;I think that is addressing the need of serving people&#8217;s interests,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We were faced with something that the media has never seen in this country before, where somebody weaponized the truth, and won pretty much every fight he got into, by ultimately blaming a system that people have rejected, including the media. And unprecedented risk is going to require an unprecedented effort. I don&#8217;t think it was about moving to opinion, meaning not relying on facts and analysis. But they had to take it on; I felt very much that way.&#8221;
Cuomo portrayed himself as some kind of a crusader for truth against the Trump administration, adding: &#8220;And it was rough. It is still rough for me to be seen as like an enemy of the former president, which is nonsense.&#8221;
During another point in the interview, Cuomo defended the nonsense that happens on cable news by blaming the viewers, saying, &#8220;You can&#8217;t expect the men and women in the media to not play a game that everybody else is playing.&#8221;
&#8220;You are watching because the game, you are allowing yourself to be put on teams or in tribes or any way you want to designate it,&#8221; Cuomo added. &#8220;But they&#8217;re supposed to somehow break away from that when it&#8217;s what you want? When it&#8217;s what resonates with you? No.&#8221;

Sources told The Daily Beast reported that Chris Cuomo “balked” at the time commitment part of the job.
“It’s a very time-consuming thing. There are monthly meetings and drills and you have to meet a percentage of your calls,” EHFD Chief Duane Forrester said. “That’s why we don’t have many celebrities.”
